Promised- Finale (Grigor Dymov x fem! Reader, Arranged Marriage AU series)
Tumblr media
Series Summary: When Emperor Peter's behavior towards your family threatens the alliance between them and Russia, the only way to solve it from breaking is through an arranged marriage with his friend, the handsome but heartbroken Count Grigor Dymov. A man you barely know.
Previous Chapters: One//Two//Three//Four//Five//Six//Seven//Eight//Nine//Ten//Eleven
Chapter Summary: You and Grigor enjoy a long-denied honeymoon
Content Warnings: Some discussions of sex and cursing and mentions of pregnancy and babies- don't worry, Y/N isn't pregnant. But VERY fluffy!
Word Count: 1584
A/N: Thank you guys so much for supporting this series throughout! Now I thought was the best time to conclude it! When season 3 of The Great comes out and should I get inspired, there might be a season 2 of this fic like what @ladystrallan did with I Really Wish I Hated You (which, btw, highly recommend if you love The Great Fanfics). Who knows?! But I hope all of you loved reading it as much as I loved writing this series!

You and Grigor were planning on returning to court. You both just wanted something denied to you when you were rushed to be married and when there was a coup- a honeymoon. Three whole months of a honeymoon.
The days were never more lovely- lovemaking at night, awakening when one felt like it, the most sumptuous meals, playing cards by the fireside, reading to each other, and you showing off the various songs you knew how to play. You were starting to teach Grigor chords and his clumsy practicing of scales with mutters of “fuck!” at a mistake could be heard. You still kept shooting practice, but you were relaxed, not caring if you missed the odd target.
It was quite warm for Russia the past two weeks. Flowers were deep in their bloom in the gardens, and it was green everywhere. The vineyards seemed to be a far brighter green than you expected. Perhaps springtime was arriving sooner than you expected or maybe it was a warm spot for a few days. You had to wear your lighter silks as opposed to the warm furs to keep one safe from your new home country’s notorious chill.
As you and your husband toured the grounds together that afternoon, there were fruits of light green and dark purple. You would both look at each other, pluck the small fruits, and try bites of them yourself, feeling the juicy sweetness burst on your tongues, as if only briefly. Grigor would wipe the juice off of his sleeve and give you a kiss and you would taste the grape in his breath as if combined with yours you made your own special wine. Grigor was in his favorite deep green. You had insisted he keep a few buttons down so you could see some of his chest hair. You insisted it was absolutely sexy of him when he wore shirts (especially white ones) with a few buttons undone and he took note. Yes, it was the wrong color today, but you didn’t care. Perhaps that could wait for later tonight when you would hop on him like a rabbit until you screamed each other’s names, not caring about disturbing the servants sleeping below. You were in a bright red dress with golden floral patterns all over it and you perfumed yourself with rose water.
You matched and complimented in your dress as had your souls on the inside- each perfect and making only the other look better when beside it.
You emerged from the kiss and wiped your hand on your skirt.
“Could you hold my hand, my dear?” you asked, presenting your hand out.
He raised his eyebrows.
“Oh abso-fucking-lutely,” he replied, eagerly taking yours.
It was warm and encompassing, the fingers intertwined within each other to feel the pulse of each other. As you both walked back home, the day was fading. The sky turned into a mix of orange and pink and the crispness of evening etched around you. Once you approached back to the manor, the housekeeper greeted you both and assured you that dinner would be ready in one or two hours. Olga, the little servant girl, handed you back your beloved dog and both of you cooed over her.
“Oh and Madame Dymova! Here! Messenger said it’s from Paris! And it’s for you and the master!” she added on, handing over a letter with a familiar wax seal.
Before you could comment on it, Sonya let out a bright bark for want of attention.
“Here Sonya- found this! Here- Good girl!” Grigor offered.
From his pocket, he pulled out a truffle and fed it to the eager and always hungry pup.
“Would you like some wine? There’s a new one they just made here and it’s fucking astounding,” he offered.
“Oh, yes! And ask the kitchen for a plate of bread and cheese and fruit, perhaps?” you asked.
“I don’t see why not!” he replied, giving you a peck on your forehead before going down to the kitchen.
You made your way to the back porch area outside on your white seats and white chairs. You found it had not grown so chilly that you would require heaps of blankets as you have in the past. Sonya lay happily on your lap panting away. Though grown, she still saw herself as a puppy who had to have every last of her needs attended to, or else her mistress would hear her barking and mischief. But you loved her more for it.
You pulled from your reticule an unopened letter from the dress of your pocket. It couldn’t be your family- you heard just yesterday that you were an aunt to a beautiful little niece. Both you and Grigor were already making plans to travel and visit your family and for you to be introduced and be acquainted with his own. So, who could it be? Was it Catherine about her baby or the new education laws? Orlo recommending a new philosophy book to you? Who? You saw the name on it and gasped.
“It’s George! George wrote to us!” you told Sonya, who only tilted her head.
You then ripped it open and smiled, your heart touched by the contents. From the corner, you saw Grigor come out to approach the table. He smiled, holding two glasses of wine, and giving one to you.
“Why thank you, darling!” you chirruped at him.
“No problem at all,” he answered.
A servant immediately arrived behind and held a platter of cheeses, slices of bread, and apples. His blue eyes went to the letter.
“What is that? Who is it?” he asked.
You smiled, handing him the papers.
“Why, it’s George!? Can’t you believe it? She’s in Paris of all places! Oh, that must be wonderful! And here…she said she met someone who she truly loves and who loves her! Oh, I’m so happy for her! We must write back and ask her more about this!” you squealed.
“Why- how good for her! I’m glad!” Grigor wished genuinely with a shrug and a relaxed smile.
Both of you held up your glasses of wine.
“Should we toast to her?” you asked.
Grigor shook his head.
“I have a better one. To what brought us together in the first place. Here, Y/N-to the alliance!”
“To the alliance!” you agreed, daintily clinking your glasses.
Both of you took a first sip.
“It won’t be too long before we return- so much will be different…” Grigor began.
“I’m just glad Marial is in prison…I’ve slept better at night since then…” you sighed.
He did frown briefly. He took a deep drink and set down his glass.
“Well…part of me is eager. Been worried sick over Peter.”
“But you always are, you silly shit!” you teased, setting your own glass down.
He smiled at the words. You thought there was never a more beautiful smile than that of Grigor Dymov when he was well and truly happy. Your heart would always burst with love for him at the sight.
His letters seem fine and happy though…he’s thrilled about the baby. Got a name picked out and everything!”
“What if we have a baby- will we be even ready for that?” you suggested.
So far, your courses were like clockwork and Grigor would spoil you with bedrest and vodka and embraces when the cramps tormented you. But that doesn’t mean the time would never come. In fact, with all the fucking you had been doing it was a pure miracle it hadn’t happened yet!
“I don’t know if we’ll ever be, Y/N…but what about life after the coup? Things will be so…so different. Peter’s not in charge as much. There’s a royal baby on the way. George is in France. Catherine’s changing all the laws to what she wants. Everything is upside down…” he muttered.
“But we can take it…” you assured him.
He clutched his hand onto yours in response and you used your other hand to rest it on his cheek. He relaxed into it, using a hand to touch yours.
“We can take anything as long as we’re together, darling,” he replied.
“Of course, we can, my dear husband…” you cooed.
"Oh, say that again!” he insisted.
You crawled on his lap, kissing his face- his freckles, his forehead, his cheekbones, his chin.
“Dear husband, dear husband, my Grigor, my darling…” you mumbled between the kisses.
“Fuck, you make me hard. Keep it up and I might have to have you on this table before dinner!” he confessed.
“Wait until after dinner!” you insisted with a joking slap on his arm.
“If Countess Dymova requests it, who am I to deny her that!” he gave in.
You giggled and paused. Both of you breathe deeply the warmth of each other and the closeness.
He kissed you with soft lips again, but there was a chasteness- a tenderness to how he cupped your cheek when it happened. You cuddled into his chest as the sun set and he placed an arm around you to draw circles on your back as the dog lay contentedly smiling on the floor with her pink tongue out.
You were happy. After such chaos you had been through- you were completely happy. Dinner was about to be served. You had a home in court and out. You had a precious pup. You had friends. And most of all, you had found a happy, faithful marriage. And a husband who you loved and who loved you.
And this time the wine did in fact not taste like shit.

“I could drive.”
Ben looks over at Gwil in surprise. “Uh…”
“Well, not legally, obviously,” Gwil says, and Ben snorts.
“That sort of seems like an important bit,” he says. “Considering my education, and all.”
“Oh, that?” Gwil scoffs, and then gives Ben a playful grin. “Silly old thing.”
“Yes, that.” Ben wants to roll his eyes and protest further, but he also looks down at his arm. He’d gone to a kickboxing class with Rami just for fun (why, oh why does Rami have so much energy, it really should have been Gwil that went), but he must’ve hit the bag wrong or something. His doctor wrapped it for him; Ben’s not sure all that is necessary, but it has felt better.
Rami and Joe have brought the kids over, instead of them usually going over there to hang out. Ben took a couple days off work. But now he’s not sure how to go about getting to the train station. Gwil’s walked down to the train station the last couple days, but Ben’s not doing that.
“I can just put it on auto,” Ben says.
“But really, you should be able to take the wheel if something happens,” Gwil says. “I have two hands.” He waves them both at Ben to prove his point.
“You also don’t know how to drive.”
“How hard could it be? I’ve seen you lot do it. Rami learned. Joe has a license. Joe’s American. If he can drive here, I certainly can.”
“Gwil.” Ben shifts on the sofa, and leans in towards him. “I appreciate you wanting to take care of me. But it would illegal. And frightening, on a personal level.” He smiles and kisses Gwil on the tip of his nose.
“Well, that does it.” Gwil quickly stands up, and Ben has to awkwardly fall back to get out of his way.
“Does what?”
“I’m going for a spin. That’s what people say, isn’t it?”
“Sure,” Ben says. “Where are you spinning?”
“Up and down the drive,” Gwil says, as he walks out of the living room. “That’s legal, I know. Private property.”
“Ah.” Ben shakes his head, amused, but then he can hear Gwil getting the keys. And getting his shoes on. And— oh, Gwil is going outside. He’s really not joking. “Gwilym!” He hurries out to pull on his trainers, and he steps outside.
Gwil’s leaning against the car, looking amused and smug at the same time. “Come to see me off?”
“What are you doing?” Ben asks.
“I just want to see if I can do it,” Gwil says. “For a minute.”
“If you want to drive, take lessons,” Ben says. “I can’t teach you.”
“I at least want to see if I can turn it on.” Gwil unlocks the car and climbs into the driver’s seat. “Oh! It’s a bit different on this side.”
“I’ve had my seat just how I like it for years now,” Ben says. “And you’re going to ruin that for me.”
“Are you getting in?” Gwil asks.
“How far are you going?” Ben asks.
“Down the hill.”
“Nope. Too close to the road.”
“Let me see if I can turn it around up here then.”
Ben sighs, and looks around, debating just how stupid this is. On a scale of Rami to Joe, it’s closer to Joe. But… Ben sighs again. How bad could it be? Famous last words? “Fine.”
Gwil cheers, and Ben walks around to the other side of the car. “Knew I’d win you over.”
“I need to save you from yourself.” They buckle in, and Ben looks over. “Alright. Start it up.”
“That part’s easy.” There’s a button to push to start, so even Gwil’s got that. “Ooh, love.” Gwil grins at him. “Look at me go.”
Ben laughs softly. As much as he thinks this is still a stupid idea, at least Gwil is entertained.
“Now what’s this say?” Gwil pushes his glasses up and leans in towards the screen. “Do I want to be on auto or manual? Manual, obviously.” He hits the button and then grips the steering wheel. “Got my pedals down here.” He hits the gas and Ben jumps at the sound of the engine revving. “Whoops.”
“Other one.”
“Sorry, love.” Gwil looks down and gently presses his foot on the brake, and then he carefully shifts the car into drive.
“Slowly,” Ben says, nervously curling his fingers into his leg. “Don’t take your foot off all at once.”
“Right.” Gwil slowly lifts his foot, and then he lets out a sound of delight as the car starts to roll forward. “I’m driving!”
“Mm-hmm.”
Gwil hunches forward as they slowly inch forward, and Ben reaches out, tapping him on the arm. “Oh, sit back?”
“Yeah.”
“Right.” Gwil sits back, and tightly grips the steering wheel. “I’m going to hit the gas.”
“Oh god,” Ben murmurs.
“Just a little.”
“Right.”
Gwil taps on the gas and they surge forward— not much, but enough to make Ben’s stomach twist. They come to the end of the drive, and Gwil is smart enough to know that he should push on the brake before they start driving on the grass. A little too quickly, but they’re not going fast enough to jerk too hard. “Back in park.”
Ben looks around. “Thought you said you were going to turn around.”
“Oh, I don’t think so.”
Ben smiles. “No?”
“Not sure that’s for the best.”
Ben’s smile grows, and he leans over to kiss Gwil on the cheek. “That went better than I was expecting, honestly. You drove! Technically. You didn’t like it?”
“I can feel my heart,” Gwil says, touching his chest. “I’m not sure about that.” He looks at Ben. “Sorry I can’t drive you to work.”
“That’s alright,” Ben says. “I appreciate the effort.”
“It was sort of scary, isn’t it?”
Ben bites down on a smile. Gwil literally went to space, faster than the speed of light. Though, to be fair, Ben knows that Gwil wasn’t the one driving (piloting?) the Mercury. “Can be.”
Gwil unbuckles and moves to open the car door, and Ben’s arm shoots out, hitting Gwil in the chest. “Ow! What?”
“The car’s still on,” Ben says. “You just put it in park.”
“Oh, fuck.” Gwil hits the button to stop the engine, and then he settles back in his seat. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay.”
“I’m going to stick my bike.”
“Yeah, probably for the best.”

Can I request a fluffy Joe Mazzello x fem. reader long fic where it’s their 9 month old baby daughter’s first Christmas and reader melts at the sight of Joe holding their daughter and showing her all of the presents she’s got and their daughter says dada and Joe and reader light up at how much of a daddy’s girl she is and reader thinks about how when she signed up to play an extra on Bohemian Rhapsody that she never thought she would end up falling in love on set?
of course!
FIRST CHRISTMAS
pairings: Joe Mazzello x Fem!reader summary: ^^^ warnings: None note: y/d/n stands for your daughters name
Tumblr media
"oh and look at this!" you heard your husband say downstairs.
you walked downstairs and caught Joe holding your little daughter while showing her the christmas gifts she had gotten
she giggled and took it off him, throwing it on the floor
"no, no. don't throw it, play with it" Joe picked up the care bear and put in front of your daughter and waving it around
"well good morning" you yawned.
Joe looked up and you and smiled like an idiot, your daughter looked over and laughed
"good morning, darling" Joe greeted
"Merry christmas" you walked up the them, sitting on the couch, leaning down to kiss Joe who was situated on the floor, next to the lit up tree.
"how long have you been up?" you asked him and they looked like they have been there a while
"i took her down here about thirty minutes ago, I wanted her to see her presents" he shrugged
"and you couldn't wait for me?"
"not really no, you looked to cute to wake up" you looked back down and your daughter and made a silly face at Y/D/N before looking back up at you
"you should've just woken me up" you stated, looking down at your little baby, you've always noticed how much she looks like Joe. a spitting image of him, but she looked too much like him right now and it made your heart swell.
"I'm sorry, I was just too excited" he confessed, holding your daughter against his chest
you let out a breathy chuckle and closed your eyes.
"dada" Y/D/N whined, pointing at more presents under the tree
Joe pulled her away from his chest and looked at her, his mouth was agape and he looked like he was about to cry
"darling, did you hear that?" Joe asked you
you shuffled closer to them and smiled at him even though he was focused on your baby
"I did joe, I heard it clear as day"
you rubbed joe's arms from behind and rested your chin on shoulder, looking down at your little daughter, smiling at her gratefully
"I told you she was a dada's girl" he whispered to you, finally looking away from her.
"I never doubted it"
"I love you" he said kissing you softly
"I love you too" you smiled at him sweetly
"what did you want, sweetie?" Joe asked your daughter
you thought back to when you were an extra on Bohemian Rhapsody and how you two met and what would've happened if you didn't.
--
you were sitting down on your phone, waiting with other extras to be called on to go on in the scene, you were focused
"hey, you" you looked up and noticed the director standing front of me
"yes?" you smiled politely.
"I need you to go get joe, he's on in 5" he said.
"alright" you stood up and went out to the trailers, looking at the doors for him name written on it.
Rami, Ben, Joe.
you go up to the door and knock three times and waiting for a response
"come in" he replied through the door
he probably thought it was ben.
I opened the door slowly and peeked in, seeing him in his little couch on his phone
"the director wants you to know that you're on in 5" you stated as you entered his view
he didn't respond to you though, you though he was being rude and just ignoring you but the look on his face made you feel otherwise.
his mouth was slightly open and his eyes were relaxed, he looked sort of dazed and off in the clouds, it didn't make you uncomfortable per se, you just felt weak under his gaze.
"excuse me?" you forced yourself to say to snap him out of his daydream
"oh, right ok. just wait there" he said as he saw you were about to leave.
he put his phone away and got up. walking towards you
"who are you, exactly?" he questioned as you waked down the steps with him behind you
"I'm an extra" you responded
"no I meant your name" he chuckled
"oh um, Y/n"
"I'm joe" he smiled warmly
"I know" you took a deep breath
"do you now?" he responded in amusement
"well yeah, I feel like I have to" you smiled sheepishly
"you have a really pretty smile" he told you, looking down at your lips to your eyes.
"oh" you let out an embarrassed laugh as you looked down, tucking a piece of your curled hair behind your ear
"thanks"
"I'm sorry, just the way you're sweet, cute and beautiful at the same time is beyond me"
"oh my god" you muttered to yourself, you felt your cheeks turn warm and your stomach did flips.
"ok so wait other than taking my breath away what do you do for a living?" he smirked playfully. you turned you head away and covered your face with your hands.
"never heard that one before" you laughed, still looking anywhere but at him
"get used to it" he said
--
"this is the best christmas" Joe sighed happily

REQUEST - @borhapgirlforlife19
Can I request a fluffy Joe Mazzello × fem. reader oneshot where it's their daughter's first Birthday and they have a party at their house with Joe's family, reader's family, and the Borhap cast there? Also, Joe sits on the floor opening her gifts with his daughter beside him and she helps Joe tear off the wrapping paper and she lights up when he shows her the gifts and everybody takes pictures and gushes over how adorable she is?
‘Oh open mine first,’ Rami said grabbing a sleek square parcel off of the floor and handing it to Joe. He was sitting on the floor of the lounge, piles of presents around him and his daughter, Ellie, in between his legs. She was watching everyone excitedly though she didn’t quite understand the reason they were all gathered around was for her. It was her first birthday and though Joe and Y/N hadn’t gone all out with a massive birthday party they had invited their close friends around for dinner and cake to celebrate.
‘Oh yeah put us all to shame,’ Ben chuckled as Joe took it off his friend.
‘Yeah, get in first and hope we can’t outdo right Rami?’ Gwilym said with a smile.
‘What can I say,’ he shrugged, ‘there’s a reason he picked me to be godfather.’
‘We picked,’ Y/N said coming to sit down beside Rami on the couch.
‘Shall we just get our coat, Ben?’ Gwilym said with a chuckle.
‘Think we better had mate,’ Ben chuckled.
Before anyone could say anything else Ellie made a frustrated noise. She had been sitting looking up at Joe who was unknowingly holding the present just out of her grasp. Joe noticed her and said, ‘oh sorry honey.’
He placed the package on the floor where she immediately started to paw at it grasping the neat wrapping in her chubby grip. With a giggle of excitement, she yanked at it squealing as chunks of it started to come off in her hand.
‘Be careful mate,’ Ben said, ‘she might have your hand off.’
‘She’s got good taste,’ Rami said. Soon enough Joe started helping her and they pulled off all the wrapping paper until it was completely unwrapped. It was a small shoe box which once Joe opened revealed a tiny pair of trainers.
‘Are those trainers?’ Ben asked.
‘Not just any they’re bloody Gucci,’ Gwilym said with a whistle.
‘Nice,’ Joe said, ‘I mean she will one hundred per cent kick them off after five minutes but they’re pretty neat.’
‘Oh they’ll be on the floor of any store we go to within seconds but they’re pretty cute I must say,’ Y/N said.
As if to prove her parent’s point Ellie took that opportune moment to grab one of the shoes in her scrunched-up fist and launch it out towards where the boys were sitting though it somehow went backwards clunking Joe on the head.
‘Ouch,’ Joe said which only made her giggle.
‘Well that was worth it even if she won’t wear them,’ Rami laughed.
‘Yeah very funny,’ Joe grumbled. His moaning wasn’t taken notice of for long though as Ellie was up off her bottom and crawling towards the neat pile of presents a little way out of her reach. She grabbed out for one but Joe merely leaned forward and took it out of her reach.
‘Dada,’ she grumbled though her pout seemed to retreat as he placed it in front of her. She immediately started tugging the paper off.
‘I guess we’re not allowed to know who this one is off are we El,’ Y/N chuckled.
‘It’s me,’ Gwilym said as Ellie continued to ravage what was now showing to be a big box. The box was brightly coloured something that seemed to get the baby’s attention immediately.
‘What is it?’ Rami asked peering over Ellie’s head which was blocking his view.
‘This pull-along toy thing,’ Gwilym said, ‘it’s a caterpillar you pull along. Meant to help with walking and stuff. And it’s good for motor skills and-’
‘And you did pages of research right Gwil?’ Joe chuckled.
‘Well you gotta get it right, right?’ he asked, a little tinge of pink now across his cheeks and nose.
‘Well if not just throw cash at it right?’ Ben said.
‘Hey just because that’s what you do with all the girls in your life,’ Rami said holding his hands up and making a laugh ring out around the room. Even Ellie giggled along oblivious to the joke she’d missed.
‘It’s lovely Gwil,’ Y/N said looking at the ornate wooden toy her daughter had seemingly lost all interest in as it was discarded with the shoes as she headed back to the other present that was laying just out of her reach.
‘Looks like she’s not too fussed,’ Rami said.
‘That’s because our girl has taste,’ Ben said sliding off of the couch until he was sitting in a similar position to Joe, legs splayed around the present that was in front of him. Ellie crawled to it, pulling herself up on the large box as she got there. She stood wobbling slightly.
‘What do you think El?’ Ben said, ‘should we open it?’
‘Open,’ she giggled banging on the box with her chubby fist.
‘You don’t have to tell me twice,’ Ben said pulling wrapping paper off the box with little help from Ellie.
‘What is it?’ Gwilym said.
‘A baby drumkit,’ Rami said.
‘Oh great,’ Y/N said.
‘Yeah thanks man,’ Joe said as Ben opened the box and pulled it out. It was a plastic stand with individual sections that could be played. Buttons and knobs for turning. Bright lights and things to fiddle with littered the small console.
‘Hey,’ Ben said, ‘it’s our job to make sure she drives you up the wall. Besides, it’s not just a drumkit. It’s a complete set of musical instruments in one handy console.’
As if that was her cue Ellie started banging on some of the buttons making it whizz to life. A sickly-sweet voice rang out saying, ‘dog!’ which was then followed by a woof. Ben moved around, his hand on Ellie’s side keeping her upright as she started to smash the buttons under her fingers. A cacophony of animal noises rang out around the room not waiting for the machine to finish speaking before it was announcing the next one.
‘Am I back in the running for best present then?’ Rami said looking between his friends.
‘Let’s see how long it takes the batteries to run out before we make a decision huh?’ Joe chuckled.
‘You like it El?’ Ben said looking into the baby’s round hazel eyes. She nodded, ‘gizza kiss then,’  Ben said placing his cheek in front of her as two chunky fists slapped him roughly in the face before drool-covered lips placed a kiss on his cheek.
‘Now there’s a review we can’t compete with,’ Gwilym said.
‘What did you expect?’ Y/N laughed, ‘Ben’s got a way with women.’

Christmas 2020
Tumblr media
Rami is that kind of a person who buys gifts throughout the entire year, just to be sure he’s safe on Christmas
also, he insists on making a few traditional meals his family always makes (and he’s a surprisingly good cook)
you decorated the Christmas tree together, but since both of you had a different concept, you ended up having two parts of the tree decorated in completely different ways
since you couldn’t meet with anyone, you had your families on video call
but it was even more exhausting than actually spending time with your family, so you were glad when it ended
you finished your meal and sat on Rami’s lap
he smiled, moving his arms around you, and kissing you passionately
he then took you on his arms and sat with you on the couch, next to the Christmas tree
he gave you the first gift
you were kind of embarrassed that you didn’t get him as many present as he did, but then again, you only started buying them in December, he had more time to prepare
you loved every single one of your presents, ‘cause Rami had unbelievable taste
he also very quickly learnt what you like, so any piece of clothing you got from him suited you perfectly
he also liked what you gave him
Rami told you a story about how he once went skiing on Christmas day and ended up with a bloody nose
and you ended up talking for a few hours about your funny childhood stories
you were wrapped in his arms, he was resting his head on yours
it felt nice and cozy and with him you could forget about the pandemic and everything else that was going on in the world
Tumblr media
Ben always insisted on Christmas activities
usually you just went skiing or snowboarding
but this year, with all the restrictions, you had to stay home
so as soon as it started snowing, he went to the backyard with a shovel
you were preparing Christmas dishes, so you didn’t bother to go there for a few hours
and when you finally went, you saw a pile of snow that could easily serve as a small hill to slide from
you shook your head with disbelief, amazed by what you see
he smiled and asked you, “what do you think?” and you obviously loved it
he took the sled out of the basement, it was all clean and ready to go now
he was even thoughtful enough to put a blanket on it, so you didn’t get cold from the wooden seat
“come on,” he told you when he put the sled on top of the hill
you went there and smoothly sled down the hill
it wasn’t the same as Alps, but you had a lot of fun
especially when Ben took the string and started dragging you behind him on the sled
he spilled some water on the grass earlier, to make sure you’ll have an icerink
and now he was using it as a way to spin you around on the sled
you almost tripped a few times, but it was so much fun
you also ended up making a snowman
it had drumsticks as hands
and Ben also gave it one of his wigs
yes, you called the snowman Roger
and made sure Brian will know about it
Tumblr media
Gwilym knew how much you missed your family and friends, so he made it his top priority to keep your mind away from worrying on the Christmas day
he spent the entire December preparing for a cute Christmas photoshoot he had planned
he bought props and even a green screen
he also bought you some new dresses, so you couldn’t tell him you had nothing to wear for the photos
and more than that, he got you a little puppy from the shelter, so you didn’t feel so sad and lonely anymore
the photoshoot included all kinds of beautiful Christmas scenarios, and the puppy even had his own little Santa Claus’ hat
there were a lot of costumes, Gwilym himself even dressed as Santa for one of the pics
apart from the SLR camera, Gwil had a polaroid, so you had some of the pictures out instantly
he then hung a string on the wall
and clipped the pictures to the string, making it the most beautiful Christmas decoration
you later had a debate about the puppy’s name
you ended up with “Sonny” 'cause you already treated him like a son
you made the puppy a bed out of pillows, but he ended up sleeping with you on the bed anyway
and Gwilym couldn’t help but post some of the pictures on his Instagram story, because he was so proud of the results
and you two finally learnt to use photoshop to change the green screen for some beautiful Christmas backgrounds
Tumblr media
neither you nor Joey loved the idea of early waking up, so you decided to sleep late
when you woke up, you spent some time just hugging and kissing, because you liked the fact that finally didn’t have to hurry anywhere
after you both got ready, you closed all the curtains and turned on the Christmas lights
the room was filled with many colors and Christmas atmosphere
your Christmas tree was big and rich in ornaments
he played some Christmas music and you ended up dancing in the middle of the room
the fire was crackling in the fireplace when Joe was playing some Christmas tunes on the bass
after that, you watched every Christmas movie you liked, while eating some meals on the couch, with a plate in your hand
every year Joey did a video of your time spent together, a collage of all the pictures and videos summarizing your entire year and showing your best moments
this year, most of them were spent at home, but you didn’t mind, because you were together
Joey bought you a giant teddy bear (bigger than he is) because he heard you saying that you wished to have one since early childhood
you stood under a mistletoe for a good twenty minutes, being a little too naughty for Santa to bring you any presents, but you didn’t mind, ‘cause you were enjoying each other’s company too much
and you both unanimously agreed that you will be even naughtier to save Santa the trip

The Nanny Named...
A/N: Hi all! So,it’s been a while. I have been in a real nostalgic mood lately and totally binged ‘The Nanny’. Annnd then all I wanted to was write a story about it. So I’ve been writing a multi-chapter story with Y/N as Fran and Gwil as Maxwell. I hope you all enjoy this prologue. Any feed back would be appreciated! And if you’d like to be tagged, please let me know! Love you!
Pairing: Producer!Gwilym Lee x fem!Reader
Summary: You need a job after you walk out of your last one. Your friend sends you to an interview and it…doesn’t quite go as planned.
Warnings: Cursing, some angst, and cheating
You leaned over the counter, trying to make out what your boyfriend had written down for the specials for the night. Why couldn’t the man learn to write like an actual grown-up?
“Oooh, Y/N,” one of your best friends, Mel, came in. “Have you heard?”
“Heard what?” You replied, not looking up.
“J.C. and Erika? They just got engaged.”
That got you attention. You looked up at her. “Are you serious? They’ve been dating for what? Three seconds?”
Melanie laughed, taking her coat off. “I think closer to three weeks, but yeah. Isn’t that crazy?”
You sighed, looking back down at the notes. “To each their own, I guess.”
You were happy for them, on some level, but it was a bit hard when two people that you considered ridiculously obnoxious were engaged in less than a month but you and your boyfriend had been dating for almost four years and were still not living together.
“Think that’ll make Kurt move any faster?”
You shook your head. “No, there’s nothing that will make him move any faster. We’ve talked about it countless times. He’s just happy right where we are.”
“Yeah, but you’re not.”
You huffed, not disagreeing. You had wanted to at least living together by now. Maybe not married (you still weren’t even sure if you wanted to get married), but at least the notion that the relationship was going somewhere.
“Maybe you should bring it up to him again,” Mel suggested as she tied on her apron.
You thought about it. Maybe you should. It had been a few months since the two of you had had any kind of conversation about it. Every year when your lease was up for renewal, you brought it up just to see if you should renew. And Kurt always told you ‘yes’.
“Yeah, maybe. But for now, I’ve got to figure out these damn specials he’s decided to jot down like a first grader after a lunch of cake and ice cream.” You grabbed the paper and then knocked on the door to his office. “Kurt!”
“Yeah, babe?”
You went into the office to see him staring at his phone. He glanced up at you for a second before going back to his phone.
“Hi, sweetie, can you decipher this chicken scratch for me?” You walked over and sat up on his desk.
Kurt sat his phone down, face up, and took the paper and squinted at it himself. “Uh…I…huh. Ribs of some kind. I’ll have to go look in the fridge quick. Be right back.” He pressed a kiss to your temple before getting up and leaving the office.
You swung your legs, waiting for him to come back, thinking about the dinner rush on the Friday night that was going to hit. But hey, at least the tips would be good.
And then you saw something light up on the desk.
You glanced down to see Kurt’s phone on full brightness. With a notification from Tinder. Saying Kurt had 3 new messages waiting for him.
You picked up the phone and stared at it, fighting back tears. You’d had a feeling something like this had been going on, but it was a totally different story when it was staring you in the face.
“Beef ribs are the special tonight.”
You stood up and shoved Kurt’s phone at him. “Great. Maybe whoever these 3 can serve it!” You stormed out.
“Wait! Y/N!” Kurt chased after you. “This isn’t how I wanted you to find out!”
“Oh, fuck off!” You yelled at him, turning on your heel to yell at him. “This isn’t how you wanted me to find out!? What the hell kind of excuse is that?!”
“Can we discuss this back in the office?” Kurt offered quietly.
“No, because there’s nothing to discuss.” You untied your apron and threw it at him. “I quit and I am DONE with you! FOUR YEARS! I’ve wasted four years of my life on you in this stupid dying restaurant!”
“It’s not dying!”
You stared at him stunned. “That’s all you have to say? Four years down the drain and all you care about is this damn rat trap?!”
“It’s not a…!” Kurt took a deep breath. “You know what? Fine. Go ahead. We don’t need you around here!”
“Obviously!” You screamed before grabbing your coat and stomping out.
You walked all the out to the street, hailed a cab, and got in the back. You gave the driver your address and then fell apart.
“Um…a…are you alright, dear?” The cab driver asked you, glancing in their review window.
You could only shake your head. “Okay, well, there should be a box of tissues under my seat. Help yourself.”
You reached down and grabbed the box, pulling out tissues. You blew your nose and wiped your eyes.
“Just put them in the trash when you’re done.”
You nodded your thanks, making a mental note to give them a big tip.
The rest of the time the two of you were silent as you tried to make yourself somewhat presentable so your roommate wouldn’t ask what happened. You were not in the mood to talk about it.
The driver pulled up to your building and told you the total. You paid and started to make your way out before they called to you.
“Whatever it was, I hope it gets better.”
You gave them a smile and wave before you shut the door and started to into your building. You ran up the stairs instead of taking the risk of running into a nosy neighbor on the elevator. You got into your apartment and collapsed on the couch. You started sobbing into your pillow.
How on Earth could he do that to you? Sure, the two of you hadn’t gone beyond dating but four years?! You had given four years of your life! Not just romantically but you’d worked your ass off to help with his restaurant. You’d hired nearly all of the servers! And three of the cooks! Who the hell was he to kick YOU out?
You woke up to your roommate, Olivia, coming home, not sure how long later.
“Y/N? What are you doing home? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?”
You sat up, your entire face felt swollen.
“Oh, Y/N,” Olivia sat next to you and wrapped an arm around you. “Did something happen at the restaurant?”
You tried to explain what happened, but you couldn’t get the whole story out without bursting into tears.
“Oh sh, sh, honey,” she rubbed your shoulder. “I know. He’s a scumbag. I’m so sorry.”
You just nodded, crying into her shoulder.
“Do you want me to call Rosie and see if she’ll let some the dogs loose in the kitchen?”
You chuckled for a moment. “Think she would? I know she’s very attached to them.”
“Well, they are shelter dogs. They deserve a good meal.”
You pulled your head up and gave her a semi-smile. “You are the best person I know.”
“If only I was available to you.”
“I can love you better than Rosie can.”
“Yeah, but can you afford an apartment in Hell’s Kitchen like she can?”
You sighed, pretending to be defeated. “I guess not. I give you my blessing then.”
“I can run down to the bodega and get some wine and ice cream. I don’t have to work tomorrow.”
“Oh good, then get something for yourself.”
Olivia pressed a kiss to your forehead. “Great, I’ll be right back.”
You laid back down when Olivia stood up.
You and Olivia spent the rest of the night drinking, eating ice cream, and complaining about Kurt. It made you feel a little better.
At nearly one in the morning, you finally stumbled to your bed, hoping that you wouldn’t dream of Kurt, the restaurant, or anything to do with your love life.
THREE WEEKS LATER
“Y/N!” Olivia announced as she came home.
“Whaaaat?” you called back to her from the couch. You’d barely left it in the past couple weeks. You’d barely even left your apartment, if you were being honest.
“I think I’ve got you a job!”
You sat up and looked at her, somewhat skeptical. “Where?”
“Manhattan.”
“Oh,” you were surprised. Olivia had been trying to get you jobs, but this was the one that sounded like it might actually be promising. “What is it?”
“Rosie’s brother has a catering gig and needs a good waitress, but the homeowners want to interview everyone individually. They want you there at 3:30 for your interview.”
You jumped up. “Are you serious?!”
“One hundred percent!”
You threw your arms around Olivia’s neck and pulled her in for a hug. “Oh thank you thank you, Ollie!”
“Ooof. You better stop thanking me and get in the shower.”
You got on the subway to make your way up to Manhattan a couple hours later. You hadn’t been there since last year when a friend of yours had their 30th birthday party at some pretentious hipster bar.
You kept glancing at the passing stations, hoping that this was going to work out. You could still hear your mother’s voice in your head telling you that you should’ve known better than to take a job at the man that you were dating’s place of work.
The past few weeks, you’d been miserable. You had barely left the apartment besides your runs down to the bodega to get alcohol, ice cream, or the minimal amount of groceries that you could afford and actually wanted. Your bank account was screaming at you before you’d left the restaurant, so as much as you’d wanted to just wallow in your self-pity on the past four years of your life that you had wasted, you needed to get a new job.
You got off at the correct station and walked up the stairs, stepping onto the streets of Manhattan. This part of the city always seemed different to you. Sure, you’d grown up in New York City, but it had been in Queens.
You walked to the correct block and took in all the gorgeous buildings that were there. It sort of took your breath away, the way the trees were just starting to bud in the spring air.
You nearly ran into somebody on the street and apologized, hoping they couldn’t tell how out of place you were.
This was insane. Who in their right mind would hire YOU to work some cocktail party that was going to have people there that blew what you paid in rent on a quick trip to Macy’s? You thought about turning around and just heading home, but then you remembered that your bank account had about $15 in it.
As you walked down the street, you were hit with a strong smell of rose, jasmine, and vanilla. It was comforting and made you a bit more confident in yourself. Like everything was going to work out, regardless of how the interview went.
You glanced down at your phone, making sure that it was the right address before taking a deep breath and walking up the stairs to the front door. You knocked and then waited.
A man in a suit opened the door. He had black hair and kind brown eyes. He seemed unsurprised to see you standing there.
“Hello, are you here about the position?”
“I am.”
“Well come in, come in, Mr. Lee should be ready for you soon.” He ushered you inside, taking your coat for you. “Would you like me to drop off your resume to him?”
You hadn’t thought about bringing that.
“Oh, um…no, that’s okay. I’ll just…get it to him if he asks for it.”
The man raised his eyebrows but didn’t say anything before he lead you to the couch and gestured for you to sit down.
You sat down and waited for him to return. Or for this mysterious ‘Mr. Lee’ to appear. You looked around, amazed at how high the ceilings were.
Suddenly, there was a scream from upstairs and the pounding of footsteps coming down.
“Help! Help! I’m hurt!” A little boy with dark, curly hair came running into the room. He collapsed right in front of you, his eyes closed and his tongue sticking out.
You looked down at him, trying not to laugh. “Ya okay, hun?”
The boy opened one eye, quickly shut it again, but didn’t say anything.
“Ah, Master Aled, I believe this is the third time today you’ve passed on. I’ll make sure your father and sister mourn the proper amount,” the man appeared again, stepping over the child and coming to stand in front of you. “Miss, Mr. Lee will see you in his office. If you’ll just follow me and please don’t trip over the expired, younger Master Lee. He’ll need to get up for his Little League practice in about thirty minutes.”
“James!” The boy, Aled apparently, sat up and glared at the man, James. “You ruined my plan!”
You stood up and the two of you walked into an office.  It was decorated with different awards, pieces of art. The hardwood on the floor matched the desk that was in the middle of the room. Sitting at the desk was a man writing something.
He had a dark, thick head of hair. He stood up, a pair of piercing blue eyes behind a black, horn-rimmed glasses. He was wearing a black turtleneck, gray suit jacket, and black pants.
“Hello, I’m Gwilym Lee,” he offered you his hand.
“I…um…hi,” you smiled and shook his hand. “I’m Y/N Y/L/N.”
“Thank you, James,” Mr. Lee told him. James nodded and started to leave the room. “Now, do you have your resume?”
James sent you a pointed smirk, before leaving the room all together and shutting the door behind him.
“Um…no, I don’t. Sorry, Mr. Lee.”
He frowned at you. “Alright, Miss Y/L/N. Well, tell me about your work history then.”
You cleared your throat. Rosie had neglected to tell you that the man you were going to work for was this handsome. “Well, I’ve worked in multiple, high class restaurants over the past ten years. I was working at my last job for nearly three years.”
Mr. Lee squinted at you, but you kept talking.
“And I’ve been a server, a hostess, and a bartender. I could work anywhere that you’d need me tonight.”
Mr. Lee took off his glasses and continued to stare at you.
“S…so, um…I can give you references if you need,” you finished lamely.
“Um…Miss Y/L/N, I believe there’s been a bit of a mix up.”
“Oh,” you replied, totally defeated. “I understand.”
“It’s just…this job is far too difficult to do without any experience and I think…”
“I mean, I…I have SOME experience.  I once served at the River Cafe,” you tried to argue.
“Oh no, don’t get me wrong…”
“Daddy!” A little girl came running into the room, seemingly in tears, and hugged Mr. Lee’s arm. “Aled said that there’s a monster in my closet and then he took and threw her in the closet to the monster!”
Mr. Lee picked up the girl and placed her in his lap. “Oooh Afon, sweetheart, I’m sure he didn’t mean to…”
“Yes, he did!“
“I did not!” Aled came running in too.
Mr. Lee sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Aled, please just go get the bunny out of the closet. I am in the middle of a meeting.”
“Fine, let’s go, Afon. Daddy is a veeeery busy man,” Aled grabbed his sister’s hand and took her out.
Mr. Lee just watched them leave, a somewhat longing look on his face before meeting your eyes again.
“Miss Y/L/N, this interview was for a nanny position for my children. You see, our last one just quit and I…I’ve been interviewing people for nearly a week now and…” Mr. Lee shook his head.  “I’m sorry, you don’t need to hear all my woes. I’ll have James see you out.”
Why had Rosie sent you here? If this was an interview for a nanny position you were WAY out of the running. You barely even liked the younger cousins that you had. Maybe you’d gotten the time wrong and they had meant to have the caterer interviews earlier in the afternoon?
You jumped up, an idea coming to your mind. “Ya know, Mr. Lee, I actually do have some nannying experience. I was a nanny for a family on my block every summer while I was in high school.”
It technically wasn’t a lie. You’d babysat for your neighbors. Once a week. When their mom had her PTA meetings. For about two hours.
Mr. Lee was shaking his head and standing up. “No, I couldn’t subject you to this. I’m very sorry. But if we ever need a caterer, I’ll keep you in mind.” He gave you a smile, coming around the front of his desk.
You sighed and stood up. “Well, thank you for taking this interview with me anyway,” you offered your hand again and Mr. Lee shook it.
“Of course, now could I escort you to the door?”
“I suppose so,” you told him.
Mr. Lee gestured for you to go through the door and followed you out of the room.
You were halfway through the living room when the phone rang. James, who had been wiping down the coffee table, quickly grabbed the phone off the hook. “Lee residence…yes…yes…oh how unfortunate…I will let him know…yes, thank you, goodbye.” James hung up the phone and looked at Mr, Lee. “That was the service. They won’t be able to send anybody tonight. They are booked solid.”
“Oh no,” Mr. Lee rubbed his temples. “That’s totally unacceptable. What happened to that woman that we used last weekend?”
“She’s refusing to come back. Something about a near death experience,” James looked over at Aled who sunk down behind the couch to hide.
You hesitated at the door. Maybe this could be your chance. Even if he just used you tonight, as long as you didn’t kill the kids, you would get paid. And probably pretty well guessing on the house. You could at least offer, you supposed.
“Um...Mr. Lee. If you need somebody for tonight, I’d be available.”
Everybody’s heads whipped around to you, all eyes wide, surprised.
“Well,” Mr. Lee ran a hand through his hair and sighed heavily. “I don’t know. James, couldn’t you…?”
“It’s my night off, sir. Remember? I’ve got my niece’s dance recital.”
“Oh right, of course,” Mr. Lee looked you over, seemingly arguing within himself about what to do. “Look, Miss Y/L/N, I...I usually don’t do things like this, especially where my children are concerned, but I am...desperate. I’ve got a meeting with one of my biggest potential backers this evening and I need someone to watch my children. So, if you could…”
“Oh thank you! Thank you!” You pulled  Mr. Lee into a hug before you knew what you were doing. “You won’t regret this! What time should I be back here?”
“Before I change my mind,” Mr. Lee muttered.
You pulled away, laughing a bit, before you heard James say something about six-thirty. You then quickly left before Mr. Lee could’ve said anything else.
You practically ran to the subway, nearly giddy. You had a job. You FINALLY had a job! You were walking down the stairs when you pulled your phone out. You had four missed calls and fifteen text messages. Just when you were going to read some of them, it started to ring. You saw it was Rosie.
“Hey, Rose, what’s…?”
“Oh, thank GOD! Ollie, she’s okay. Where the…?”
“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!” Olivia yelled in the phone.
“In Manhattan at the interview your girlfriend sent me!”
“Nooo, you never showed up to the interview! We’ve been calling you for almost an hour now!”
You frowned at that. Why were they so upset? Rosie had sent you to the interview, how was she so confused?
“What house did you go to?”
“The one Rosie sent me to,” you told her slowly, hoping she would calm down. “1781.”
“She says she went to 1781,” Olivia must’ve relayed to Rosie. “That’s what you told me!…Soooo, funny story. You were supposed to go to 1871. That’s where the catering job was.”
“It’s fine! I got a job anyway! I’ll explain when I get home, but I’ve got a job tonight!”
“What?...She got a job by going to the wrong house….I don’t know! She said she would explain it when she got home…When will you get home?”
“As soon as the subway will let me.”
The whole way home you felt like you were floating. You were hoping that you would at least get paid enough to buy some groceries.
How were you going to take care of two kids tonight though? They didn’t look that old. The boy, Aled?, seemed like he was about nine or ten. The girl, in the brief moment that you had seen her, seemed to only be about five or six. You supposed you could entertain them for a couple hours. Hopefully they had all the streaming services. Just stick them in front of the TV and wait it out.
You walked into your apartment and got tackled into the wall by Olivia.
“I WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT YOU!”
You laughed and gave her a hug back. “I’m fine! You leave me here all the time to go to your girlfriend’s house, but me going into Manhattan scares you.”
Olivia pulled back and glared at you. “Whatever. Tell us what happened!” Olivia started to pull you towards the living room where Rosie was sitting on the couch. “Ronnie told us you never made it to the house and then you weren’t picking up.”
You went into the whole story of what happened. Explaining the kids, the mansion, the butler, and finally, the man that hired you.
“…name’s Gwilym Lee.”
“Wait,” Rosie sat up a bit straighter. “Gwilym Lee? The producer?”
You exchanged confused looks with Olivia.
“Oh, come on, neither of you know Gwilym Lee? He was like this huge producer at Disney. He’s been involved in all the Marvel movies.”
Your eyebrows shot up. “Are you serious?”
“Yeeeeeah, did you not see anything in his house that gave it away?”
“No,” you answered honestly. You hadn’t. You were sure that there was something that you had missed, but you were too worried about the interview and trying to get a job that you weren’t paying that much attention.
“And he’s going to trust you with his kids?”
You slowly nodded, suddenly much more nervous about tonight than you originally were.

Forever starts now - GL.
Gwilym’s eyes are locked on the ceiling above him as his slender fingers fidget with the hem of his jumper while he sits nervously on the sofa; one of his legs unable to stop bouncing up and down anxiously. Outside in the street you shrug your coat higher up your neck as the rain begins to seep inside your jacket, and you quickly press the doorbell again to try and hurry the man inside up; it was freezing and your hair was now absolutely drenched with thick strands of it stuck to your cheeks and neck.
“Come on, come on,” you mutter, hopping from one foot to the other.
Finally the door opens to reveal the slightly dishevelled looking guy in one of his cosiest jumpers with his brunette locks swept to one side. His free hand rests on his hip and he gives you a wonky smile as he takes in your appearance.
“You look wet,” he smirks.
“I’m absolutely soaked,” you huff.
“Better come in then.”
He steps to the side to allow you entry and shuts the door as soon as you’re safely out of the way, then you slip your boots off and hang your coat up before he gestures to the lounge where you flop down onto the soft couch with a sigh.
“So what brings you out in the pouring rain?”
“Did you really expect me to stay at home after hearing that voicemail?”
“Ah.”
“Yeah… just tell me one thing; do you mean it?”
His expression turns serious and he takes your icy hands in his before looking directly into your eyes to confirm his sincerity, “of course I mean it. I know what you stand to lose, you know what I’ve sacrificed already as well, and I wouldn’t have done any of this if I wasn’t completely sure about being with you.”
“Well that’s a relief,” you chuckle, “because-”
A bang from upstairs interrupts your sentence and the two of you both look up at the ceiling at exactly the same time, just as there’s a shuffling on the floor. You soon turn your attention back to Gwilym and snatch your hands away from his before covering your mouth with them at the sight of his suddenly panicked expression. His face reddens as his eyes flick from your gaze to the white expanse above you both, and he shakes his head as he brings his hands up either side of his face in surrender before gently bringing them down to his thighs as if pushing something away.
“Oh my god,” you gasp, “I… I’ve just… you’ve got someone here.”
You slowly rise from the sofa while he mirrors your actions with his arms open and palms flat almost like he was trying to calm a frightened animal, but you soon move past him to the hallway where he attempts to get a grip on one of your arms; failing as you wriggle out of his grasp each time.
“No,” you snap, pointing your finger at him with a shaking hand, “no.”
“(Y/N), please, it’s not what you think, I-”
“Don’t you dare. Don’t you even dare.”
Your eyes are narrowed at him as you pull your boots on along with your coat, then you back up to the door and exit just in time to hide your tears from him. The rain disguises the stream of misery that pours over your cheeks as you scuttle down the road as fast as your feet will take you, and yet when you reach the corner of the street you can’t help but look back to see if he was daring to follow you or if the other person had left. Neither sight greeted you, and with one last forceful sniff you turn away and continue your journey back home with a renewed determination as you pull your phone out and delete the voicemail you’d travelled half way across London for; all you could hear in his voice now was empty promises.
This wasn’t what was meant to happen, you’d come to tell him that you were going to break up with your boyfriend so you could be with him, that it was him you were in love with and not James. This didn’t happen in the films you’d seen, they’d lied to you, this was meant to be the most romantic part of the film where the two main characters kiss while getting soaked by the rain, neither of them giving a damn about the weather as they finally get together after a couple of hours of back and forth about whether it would happen or not. Reality sucked.
“Where have you been?!” James asks with genuine concern as you finally get home.
“Out,” you shrug, peeling your sodden clothes from your body as you avoid all eye contact with him.
“You’re wringing wet,” he sighs, attempting to help, “you need to get warmed up else you’ll catch a chill.”
“I’m fine, don’t worry.”
“I’ll run you a hot bath.”
“James, would you just please leave it?!” you snap, “I’m not a fucking child,” urgh, you sound like a complete bitch.
He backs off, finally getting the message that he so frequently ignored, and you hang your coat up before shutting yourself away in the bathroom and letting your body shake with sobs as the sound of the water running from the shower head covers the noise of your heartbreak. You felt awful of course, mere feet away from your boyfriend while you cried over another man; it was a truly horrible act and you were just as upset with yourself as you were with Gwilym in all honesty. The only redeeming factor that you had was the fact you hadn’t physically cheated, but you are sure that emotionally cheating is equally as bad if not worse being as your love had now completely faded for the man outside the bathroom door with whom you’d spent the best part of three years with and had shared in the highs and lows of your life. It was quite the situation you had gotten yourself in to, and all you could feel for James now was utter contempt; the things that had only slightly bothered you about him before now absolutely unbearable. There’s a knock at the bathroom door just as you take a look at your phone to see ten missed calls from Gwil, and you let out a weak questioning ‘yes’.
“It’s Gwilym,” James states, “he says he can’t get through to you and wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“I lost my phone,” you lie through the door, “I’m fine.”
There’s a mumbling as James relays the information you’d just given him, then you quickly undress and try to wash the truth of the matter off of yourself.
“I know you, (Y/N),” James says quietly when you reluctantly join him on the sofa in the lounge, “something’s not been right for a long time.”
You close your eyes and let out a deep breath, ready for confession, “you’re right…”
“I don’t know how you found out, but-”
You do a double take at James and his unexpected admission, “wait, what?”
“I… I’m in love with someone else.”
Your chest stills as you hold your breath, wondering whether to come clean about your own feelings for someone else but James continues talking before you get a chance, and you decide to keep everything to yourself, especially after the disaster earlier.
“I’m so sorry but you know things between us haven’t been great for a while and it just sort of happened… I promise I haven’t cheated on you, I-”
“It’s okay,” you smile as you place a hand on his arm to calm him down, “it’s absolutely fine, and I know you’d never cheat, you’re not the type of guy to do that.”
“Are you okay?” James frowns; confused at how calm you’re being.
“I’m fine,” you nod, “I can’t deny that things haven’t been the same between us for months. I’m glad you’ve found someone who deserves you in their life though. Truth is, I don’t. You’re too kind and caring for someone like me; I’ve been horrid to you the last few weeks and I’m deeply sorry about that.”
“No, no, I shouldn’t have been so overbearing and clingy, I know I can be annoying and-”
“James, seriously, just stop. We’ll take the blame 50/50 yeah? You don’t need to try and persuade me that it’s you’re fault because it’s not; we’re equally to blame and that’s that.”
“Fine,” he chuckles, “we’ll share it. I am sorry though, I didn’t mean to fall for someone else.”
“Don’t be sorry that you’ve found happiness! These things just happen sometimes,” you shrug, wishing that your gamble on love had paid off as well as James’, “listen, I’ll pay rent for the rest of the month but I’ll move out by the end of the week okay?”
“So soon?”
“Why delay anything for longer than we have to?” you smile, “a new start is exciting right?”
“Well, yeah, but where will you go?”
“You seriously need to stop worrying about me. I’ll move back to my parents’ house; it’ll be nice to not be directly inside the city, you know I’ve never completely warmed to living in London.”
You’d be away from everything and everyone, and right now that’s what you desperately needed. You wonder whether you’d walked in on Gwil and his ex, or whether it was someone else, someone you’d maybe met before or maybe not at all… your thoughts were torturing you now. Did it matter who it was upstairs? Sort of. It mattered to you. You needed to know whether it was just sex or something more. But it wouldn’t matter if you moved away though, and he wouldn’t matter either hopefully. Out of sight, out of mind.
James agrees to your terms and sure enough by the end of the week you’re saying your goodbyes, packing up your car and returning home for the first time in years. It didn’t feel like a step backwards, it felt like a new beginning, and although your parents were hot on questioning you about what had gone on between you and James, you simply explained that the two of you had fallen out of love and you were taking the opportunity to get out of living in London. The commute to work wasn’t so bad, and to be honest you’d spent the length of your journey getting from one side of London to the other before, so considering you were travelling in from the outskirts it wasn’t too much of a difference overall. It can be tough when you see how well James and his new girlfriend are getting along on social media but only because you imagined that you’d be in the same position with the person you were still harbouring feelings for. Out of sight, but not so much out of mind apparently.
“Hello,” you sigh in defeat, finally answering a call from Gwilym after three weeks of ignoring him.
You were on the train home from work and completely exhausted after a long week, so this was a fragile moment for you anyway and that’s the only reason you didn’t reject the call. Well, that’s what you were telling yourself anyway.
“Finally!” he exhales, “I went to see you and James said you had moved out after you two broke up, then I went to everyone we know and they wouldn’t tell me anything!”
“Well I did ask them not to, so it’s good to know they took that seriously.”
“(Y/N), please don’t ever do that to me again.”
“Don’t do- are you joking?! Fucking hell Gwil, I went to yours that night ready to start a new life with you and you had someone upstairs already! I mean, fuck, you don’t waste time do you?! And now you’re asking me to not cut you off ever again?!”
“I didn’t mean that… don’t hang up, please. I didn’t mean…” he pauses to groan, “can we meet up?”
“I don’t live in London any more and only travel in for work, so I don’t think so.”
“I’ll come to you then. You must be at your parents’ house, right?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Just give me five minutes, please. I’m literally begging you. Five minutes.”
You rest your head against the window of the train as you allow yourself to give him five minutes of your precious time, “fine,” you breathe.
“Tomorrow afternoon?”
“Fine.”
“I’ll see you then. I love you.”
“I will be setting a timer for the five minutes,” you state before hanging up.
You can’t help but laugh at the whole situation as you put your phone away; it was almost as if you were floating in mid-air after going from one stable relationship to the prospect of another one to now absolutely nothing. Maybe you deserved it after the lying and deceit you subject James to, but then again so did he in the end. Maybe it was something you’d done in a past life that now cursed your current one; never to be happy and in love again. In all honesty, you were worried. Worried that you’d see Gwilym’s face and feel completely powerless as all of your feelings came rushing to the surface again. It was easy to appear defiant and angry when it was through a phone, but seeing him in person, being the presence of the one you truly loved, well, that was a whole different matter and you were terrified of falling into his arms within a matter of seconds.
A coffee shop in town is your chosen point to meet and you get there early to practise your stony, unimpressed expression that you planned on wearing for the entire five minutes, then you put your phone on the table when you see him queueing to get a drink, ready to bring up the timer. It was funny how serious you were about timing him, but you couldn’t let it show that you were amused by the stubbornness you had within you. He sits down with a coffee for him and a tea for you, then you raise an eyebrow at him.
“Ready?” you ask, your finger hovering over the start button.
“Seriously?”
“Yep. Ready?”
“I guess.”
You hit the button and the seconds begin to tick as Gwilym eyes the screen nervously before lifting his gaze to meet yours.
“Right… well… it wasn’t what it seemed that night. Sarah was picking up some of her stuff that she’d left and when she knew it was you there she purposely dropped some of her shit on the floor to make you think that she was there for other reasons. She knew it would look bad, then came downstairs after you’d left and made one last attempt at trying to win me back which then prevented me from following you, and by the time I chucked her out you were completely out of sight and I had no idea what to do because I didn’t want to turn up at your place and cause a rift between you and James. But then you didn’t answer any of my texts or calls so I had to ring James, and then you went and disappeared for three weeks and I’ve been going out of my mind with worry! James told me what went on between the two of you so I was frankly quite confused that you didn’t think to tell me because now there’s nothing standing in the way of us being together, and I love you, I just really fucking love you.”
You glance down to your phone, “and you only took three minutes.”
“Rest assured, that’s the only time I’ll be taking three minutes for anything.”
You manage to stifle a laugh at his comment as you bring your tea cup up to your mouth to hide the hint of smile that had crept across your lips unintentionally, then take a sip of drink.
“So…?” he prompts.
“Were you tempted?” you ask.
“To what?”
“Give in to her advances?”
“No! Never. Not even when she kissed me.”
You bring your cup up to your lips again and raise an eyebrow at him, “she kissed you?”
“I was being polite and went to kiss her cheek but she turned at the last second to try it on with me. Needless to say she was not happy when I pushed her away.”
“Bitchy move.”
“To say the least! I was fuming with her after she pulled that stunt upstairs when you were there.”
“Hmm,” you hum, “did the job, didn’t it?”
“Unfortunately, yes. If you’d given me the chance to explain then and there we could be happily shacked up together by now.”
“I panicked! What else was I meant to think?! We were literally ending parts of our lives to begin another with each other, so second guessing yourself for an easier life wouldn’t have been the weirdest thing for me to think would it?”
“Okay, I get it. What now though?” he asks as he finally takes a sip of his drink.
He runs a hand through his silky hair to push back any strays once his drink is safely back on the table, then he looks up at you with that innocent smile of his while his eyes plead to your better nature. Neither of you had gone into this without fully understanding what it could do to your lives, and you were both ready to end relationships to be with one another, him already having done so, so surely this should have been an easy answer.
“Well that depends… have you changed your mind since-”
“No! I want you,” he frowns earnestly as his arms slides across the table at speed so he can take your hand between his warm digits, “I’ve waited so long for this… we’ve waited so long for this. I want my life with you to start now; not a second later than it has to.”
You nod your head at his words and bring your free hand to rest on one of his wrists before giving it a reassuring squeeze, “I was really hoping you’d say that,” you sigh in sheer relief.
“So we’re finally doing this?”
You nod in response, the feel of his hand tightening around yours signifying the start of your long awaited relationship, and he scrapes his chair across the floor towards you so he can press the first of many kisses to your face. The two of you may have been sat in the middle of a coffee shop but it was as if you were in your own little world at last, and nothing could burst that bubble.

HC: Fall activities with Gwilym 🎃✨
He would totally be all over doing cute fall things with you
The first day of fall he was already getting our the Halloween decorations
Honestly you knew you loved this man for a reason
He even went to the store and got pumpkins for the two of you to paint
You chose to paint the pumpkins because who wants rotting pumpkins so fast after they’re carved? No one that’s who 🎃
Gwilym painted a ghost and you chose to paint a black cat!
You thought Gwilyms was better but he said yours was
Sadly with the coming of fall also means seasonal depression yayyyy
And Gwilym knew you weren’t feeling the best lately
Not only was work exhausting you but the seasonal depression did not help one bit
It was a Friday afternoon when you came home from work and dropped all your stuff at the door because you didn’t have the energy to carry it all the way upstairs
“Babe is that you???” You heard him yell from the kitchen
“Yeah it’s me!” You yelled back, your voice even sounded tired
He came around the corner with a kitchen towel over his shoulder, a sight you were used to seeing. His arms were already out stretched waiting for you
Gwilym was actually a great cook tbh
“Bad day today?” He asked and you nodded against his chest
“Well turn that frown upside down because we have a nice fall night planned!”
“Oh really?” You raised an eyebrow. You hadn’t had date night in awhile
“I have dinner on the stove, an apple pie in the oven, and cider in the fridge. Hocus pocus is ready to go on our tv upstairs and these arms are primed for cuddling!”
The man really had thought of everything ❤️😭
Like for real the night was already perfect
“How about we get you some dinner and warm cider?”
“You really are the best aren’t you?” You asked, giving him another hug
“I mean maybe..!” He leaned down and gave you a kiss, and for dinner for the two of you
After you finished eating you took your cider and pie upstairs because you were too excited to get cuddling
It had been a really hard week and this was exactly what you needed
The room was all lit up with candles and the Hocus Pocus main screen was on. You could even smell your favorite fall candle
“Gwil you didn’t have to do all this” you could almost cry
“I wanted to. I want to give you the best, because you deserve the best.”
You got all settled in and ate your pie, of course with Gwilym’s arms around you
You felt a sense of peace and home and you honestly couldn’t get more comfortable
“It’s not all hocus pocus is it babe?” He asked and you nodded. You definitely felt better now ❤️

Love Thy Neighbour - Chapter Seven
Pairing: Gwilym Lee x Reader
Word Count: 4k
Warnings: Cursing
Summary: Gwilym shows up in your bookstore to apologise but there still might be more obstacles on your way to happiness.
Author’s Note: And another sprinkle of angst so that chapter six doesn’t feel so lonely. Only one more chapter and an epilogue remain, so keep an eye out for those! Comments and reblogs are always very appreciated :) Check my masterlist to read the previous chapters. Dedicated to my sweetie @justgwilym.

Dragging your feet, you crash on your sofa, a floral pattern of one of the walls spinning around you. You squeeze your eyes shut, but as you lose the point of focus, you sense a rise of, so far, the most powerful wave of nausea. You fight the feeling and instead fix your gaze on one of the paintings decorating the living room.
Breathe in.
And breathe out.
You should not have drunk that much. But Jane and Charlotte were unstoppable and admittedly, you needed it. After a couple of drinks, you actually started having fun. Daniel turned out to be a very pleasant companion with a taste for slightly dry humour that, partially due to your inebriated state, made you burst in laughter multiple times during the party.
Oh god, you are going to hate yourself so much tomorrow.
Once it seems the whole world will not tilt again and toss you on your side, you brave a few steps into the kitchen and pour yourself a glass of water. Gulping it down, you can already feel its beneficial effects, which are further enhanced when you press the cold glass against your forehead. You serve yourself another drink and with each sip, you begin to trust your legs again.
You release a content sigh as a soft breeze and smell of rain touch your cheeks when you open the windows; it truly does a world of good. Grabbing yourself two slices of toast bread, you settle onto the sofa, open your laptop and click on a random video for you to watch while you wait to get better before you go to bed. If you lay down right now, you’re sure you would throw up.
With an occasional chuckle leaving your lips as you listen rather than watch a stand-up show, you almost miss a soft, hesitant knock on your door. Almost. Your fingers hover above the keyboard as you contemplate pausing the video. If you press the space key right now, there will be no doubt you’ve heard the knocking.
Slowly retracting your hand back to your side, you let the comedian continue in her sketch and you just wait. It probably takes only a minute, but for you, it’s an eternity before you can hear Gwil shut the door to his flat behind him.
You release a breath you have not realised you were holding and hide your face in your palms.
You are not in a state to face him right now. You need some time. And most importantly, you need to put some space between you, otherwise you’re going to care way too much, and you are not in the position of allowing yourself feelings of that sort.
~
“I’m sorry, sir, I’ll be back in a minute, just let me attend to this young lady,” you throw behind your shoulder as you rush to the cash desk and leave a customer in the historical section.
“Maybe I can be of service,” Mr Dean appears next to the customer’s shoulder, who jumps a bit, not expecting someone else, and you send a grateful glance to your friend. You knew you could count on him. Whenever he’s in a good mood, he loves to entertain people in the bookshop and no matter the topic or genre they’re looking for, he turns into an expert, gladly offering recommendations.
You hide a smile when you notice Mr Dean’s eyes sparkling as the man mentions the French revolution and he starts guiding him to the needed section.
“Here you go,” you hand the young woman her bag and say your goodbyes, a shrilling sound of chimes hanging at the entrance door announcing her departure.
While you bend down and disappear behind the till to throw away the receipt the woman didn’t want, the chimes sound again, and you emerge from behind the cash desk.
No.
He’s there, right in front of you, the surprise written in his face matching yours.
“Hello,” Gwil says softly and for a split of a second, you forget to breathe.
You’ve managed to avoid him the whole weekend by some miracle, although, admittedly, on one occasion, when you were forced out of your flat to do grocery shopping, you spotted him at the entrance door when you made a turn to your street. At that moment, you remembered you wanted to check something on your phone, and after fiddling with it long enough for Gwil to get home, you plucked up the courage to do the same.
You assured yourself you just needed some time and space and by the time you would meet him, you would have known what to tell him.
Well, your past self can go screw herself because here you are with your tongue tied.
“Hi, Y/N!” Ben is on Gwil’s tail and greets you cheerfully, his hand raised in a wave.
“Hi,” you manage to blurt out, quite happy with yourself for not butchering the single syllable. It’s all about little victories, right?
“So, uh, I’ll go check some books I guess,” Ben breaks the silence when neither you nor Gwil seems to do so, and scurries farther into the store.
“I am so, so sorry, Y/N,” Gwil eventually breathes out and raises his lowered eyes. “I wish I could have a good reason for not showing up the other day and for copping out on you like that, but I just don’t. I…”
He looks around and bites his lips, looking for a way of how to finish his sentence in books-filled shelves.
You wait patiently because you have the feeling that there is something he needs to say, and it would be ill-advised to interrupt his thoughts.
“Okay, I’m probably already not in your good books, so why not make even a bigger twat of myself, eh.”
“Ha, in the good books. Get it? You’re in a bookshop,” you chuckle, your voice not as strong as you would like it to be.
“Yeah,” he replies, and the corners of his lips rise up slightly. Soon, his voice turns serious again. “Well, I went to that stupid audition and I just fucked it up. Yeah, there’s no better word for that. I fucked it up, big time. I tried to persuade them to give me another chance, I said I would do anything, and the production assistant surprised me. She promised me another audition if I went for a drink with her afterwards, and I… didn’t refuse.” He takes a deep, shaky breath, presumably the first one since he started explaining what had happened. “I wasn’t thinking, and when I realised I was supposed to be with you, it was too late.”
“You could have called me,” you say slowly, daring to meet his gaze.
“My phone was dead. I was fiddling with it so much while I was waiting for the audition. Was driving Ben absolutely crazy.”
“Can confirm!” Ben’s head peeps out from behind a shelf and quickly hides again when he spots both your and Gwil’s not so amused expressions.
“Still,” you start and shake away the trembling feeling that is creeping to your voice, “You could have come by later and explain all of that to me that night.”
By some miracle, it’s as if he senses the direction of your thoughts, and rushes to set the record straight, offering the absolution you haven’t, until now, realised you desperately craved.
“The moment it dawned on me what a jerk I was, I said my goodbyes and left. But it was too late, and I felt like such a prick, so I actually dropped in another pub and drank some more. Was so shit-faced I stayed at my brother’s ‘cause he lives in that area.”
A great weight is lifted from your shoulders and you can finally take a deep and long breath. You feel a smile tugging at the corners of your lips but Gwilym does not see it; he is avoiding your eyes, as mortification keeps surrounding his whole person.
“I am so, so sorry,” he repeats once again and the moment the words leave his lips, you forgive him.
Actually, you already have.
You are just about to tell him so when he finally finds the courage to look into your eyes as he reaches out and gently grasps your hands that have been resting on the counter.
“Please, can you forgive me?”
His thumbs are lightly stroking your skin and you cannot tear away your gaze from his beautiful blue eyes.
“Sir, I must ask you to leave right now!”
Wait, what?
It takes you a moment to become aware of where you are and what is happening. The bookshop, right. And as for what is going on…
“Sir, I won’t repeat myself, leave this building immediately!” Peter’s voice reaches such volume that every customer stops in their tracks, their curiosity taking the better of themselves.
“I was only showing this young lad the historic section. I don’t reckon it’s a crime,” Mr Dean responds in his defence, which only infuriates Peter some more.
“You’re always just helping other customers, or browsing, or, God forbid, reading our books without paying a single penny for them. I want you gone. This is not a library!”
“Peter,” you say weakly, not capable of wrapping your head around it. He isn’t supposed to be here, otherwise you would have warned Mr Dean beforehand.
“Is that the Mr Dean you told me about?” Gwil whispers and it is only then when you notice your hands are still placed in his and his face is much closer to yours than you remember.
“Yes, I’m–” you start but Gwilym won’t let you finish the sentence.
“Trust me, darling. I’ll stop by at your place at around seven, okay?” he hastily says and places a soft kiss to your cheek before leaving you at the till dumbfounded.
“Grandpa!” he greets joyfully and rushes to Mr Dean to give him a proper hug. “Have you found the book you told me about?”
Mr Dean shoots a glance your way before he replies. “Ah, I… Yes. Yes, yes, I did, give me a second.” You’re taken aback by his quick reaction because you have not moved from your spot, your jaw down, and you are pretty sure your arms are still stretched in front of you although Gwilym’s warm palms are no longer holding them. You fix your posture in an instant and clear your throat, at least trying to give the impression of having everything under control.
Although you are not particularly proud of yourself, you’re still doing better than Peter. He is just standing there, opening his mouth like fish as no words are leaving his lips.
Gwilym pretends he has only just noticed him and raises his eyebrows in make-believe innocence. “Is there any problem here?”
It takes a couple of moments before Peter gathers his bearings.
“I’m sorry, but this is your grandfather?” he finally finds his voice and points an accusatory finger at your dear friend.
“Yeah! He’s been wearing my ear off about this wonderful book he discovered here, so I’m here to get it for him. For his birthday, you know? Which is coming soon, isn’t that right, grandpa?”
“In a couple of days, actually,” Mr Dean confirms and nods his head seriously as if contemplating the fleetingness of time and existence.
“Urgh, I’m the worst grandson ever, really, looking for gifts this late, I should be ashamed of myself.” You are fascinated by Gwil’s acting; he doesn’t miss a beat and comes up with lies so quickly, all you can do is stare in astonishment. It’s not like anyone needs you right now because all customers are watching the scene unfold.
“Ah, got it!” The victorious announcement of Mr Dean makes Gwil turn on his heel and leave Peter behind.
“Wow, that’s really pretty! You weren’t lying about the photographs.” Gwil expertly inspects the pictures of various relics and nods, approvement and appreciation readable from his pursed lips. “Excellent! We’ll take it.” He closes the book in one swift motion and heads to your cash desk.
By this time, you have composed yourself enough to remember all the common niceties, and you are quite proud of your performance as you easily scan the book that you’ve seen cradled in Mr Dean’s palms many afternoons and punch the price into the card reader so that Gwil can pay.
“Would you like it gift-wrapped?” you do not forget to ask and when your gaze meets Gwil, your heart starts beating so fast you almost can’t hear the answer.
“Oh yes, please, that is if we’re not bothering you.” Gwil’s smile lights up his whole face.
“No bother at all,” the corners of your lips rise in a matching smile and you procced to neatly wrap the book in a piece of brown paper, taking extra care to tie a dark blue ribbon around the package.
“Thank you so much, have a lovely day!” Gwilym places the book under his arm and leaves the shop, Mr Dean on his tail offers a wave and a wink that, hopefully, Peter cannot see.
Through the display window, you almost miss Gwil turning around and mouthing ‘see you tonight’ before he and Mr Dean disappear behind the corner. You almost burst into laughter when Ben suddenly emerges from behind the bookshelves and dashes after them.
You have got the feeling that Peter is mumbling something, but all you can think about is your lovely neighbour and the kiss he ever so gently placed on your cheek.
You resist the temptation to touch your face, wondering whether the imprint of Gwil’s lips can be found there, or whether the gesture is forever inscribed into your mind only.
But then, you finally register Peter’s words...
“I can’t believe it! And of all days he’s got to pick today and embarrass me in front of the buyers. God damn it!”
… and your smile freezes.
~
Buyers.
The sequence of syllables still sounds foreign and dangerous to your ears.
Buyers.
No matter how many times it rolls off your tongue, the word remains the same.
So that’s it. Peter’s made up his mind and he is going to sell the bookshop. And that leaves so many questions unanswered. The new owners, are they going to keep the staff, or do they plan to hire a new bunch of people? Is there even some certainty that they will not rebrand and establish a branch of a fast-food chain? It’s not like the city is flooded with them, right.
You feel the dizziness creeping up your neck as those thoughts swirl in your head, not permitting you a moment of peace. You almost crash into a passer-by, but thankfully you manage to keep yourself upright and the take-out bag with your late lunch intact in your hold.
Once you finally arrive home, you heat up the food you have brought with you and open your favourite book in a desperate attempt to diverge the direction of your thoughts.
You are torn between biting your nails from the uncertainty of your future career and halting in the story and daydreaming about Gwilym’s visit tonight. And with that mindset, you go about your day while you clean up, water plants, and dust your flat; you have been putting it off for ages.
Emerged in thoughts, you almost mishear the buzzing sound of the bell. You are wearing baggy trousers and an old t-shirt with stains God-knows from what. You have reckoned you’ve still got time to change before Gwil’s visit. Oh well, he has seen you at your worse.
However, your brows furrow as you step into the hall and catch a glimpse of the digital clock.
5.40 p.m.
Swinging the door open, you are met with no one. Another sound of the bell and the line on your forehead deepens.
“Hello,” you mutter when you press the intercom, and the static comes through.
“Y/N! Hi! Ready to go out and grab coffee with me?”
It takes a moment before the dots connect.
“Oh, Daniel, hi! I… erm… can you give me ten minutes?”
“Sure thing!”
The dash across your flat, from the door to the dresser, then to the bathroom and back to the hall could be considered a match to any Olympian’s winning sprint race, but it is too early after your accident and your ankle makes itself known. You grit your teeth and grab a purse, leaving your flat and hoping no appliances have stayed turned on.
How could you have forgotten?! Stupid, stupid, stupid!
“Hi!” you greet breathlessly when you fly from the entrance door, and Daniel gives you a lopsided smile.
“You forgot, didn’t you?” No matter how hard you try not to give anything away, the blush on your cheeks betrays you. “Oh my God, you did!” Barking out a laugh, he lets you take a couple of deep breaths before you start walking down the street. “Maybe it should be you who’s gonna buy the coffee today.”
“Gladly,” you smile and spot a cosy café. For a split second, you consider taking him to Hazel’s, but then you imagine the soft hues of brown and gold against black and white background of your most beloved café. Your mind goes straight to the day you bumped into Gwil and Ben in there and you do not wish to stain that memory. Besides, this café is right behind the corner of your block of flats, which means you shouldn’t get stuck at some far-off place. “Actually, I owe you ‘cos I’ve got some plans at seven and I need to get home by then.”
“Oh, okay,” he replies hesitantly, and you bite your lips, feeling like an arse. Well, you can make it up for him by paying for the coffee, right?
~
You are trying. You are really, truly trying. Daniel is nice. Funny, smart, and knows all the iconic movie lines off pat, however, the moment you look into his eyes, you feel nothing, there is no bated breath, no heart beating fast. Nothing. And honestly, it seems you are not making a particularly good impression either. He takes notice of your constant checking the time on your phone, and when you catch yourself doing it for an umpteenth time, you roll your eyes at yourself.
“I’m sorry,” you mutter after a moment of silence, which you wish were a companionable one, but you are too fidgety.
“It’s fine, I get it,” Dan offers a sheepish smile, which you return. “Let’s get you back home, okay?”
The wind is chilling and light drizzle lands on your hair. As you walk down the street, you notice that Daniel is trying to gently hold your hand. It starts with your fingers brushing and you would dismiss it as an accidental touch but when his fingertips graze the back of your palm, you sense the intention in the gesture. You bring your hand up, brushing off a damp strand of hair and scratching the back of your neck so as not to give him another opportunity for touch.
Hoping this debacle is behind you now, you say your goodbyes and grab the door handle to your building. Oh, how foolish!
“I know you’re lost in thought today but it was a nice date and honestly, I’m not ready for it to end.” He gives you a smile and his eyes sparkle when you stop in your tracks and turn your head to face him.
His gaze drops down to your lips and you are (literally) taken aback by the movement to such extent that your body shoots away. In the process, you press your back to the doorbell panel and jump a bit, not expecting that kind of contact.
“Careful.” Daniel’s fingers find your waist to keep you upright. “I realise I might not be the man of your dreams, but I hope we can go for dinner next time.”
“I…” you start, unable to find the words that would not hurt him.
“No, don’t say anything,” he whispers, and it is only then when you realise his face has inched closer to yours. And then he presses his lips to yours, and you freeze at the spot.
Your eyelids do not tremble with emotion, neither do you melt into his touch. You just stand there, barely moving your lips and thinking that this guy just cannot take a hint. You might have been waving the ‘I am not interested’ flag right in front of his face and he still would be none the wiser.
When he finally lets go, your gaze is still fixed forward and you suck in your lips in a subconscious effort to prevent him from another attempt of a kiss. However, you catch a flicker of light in the corner of your eyes and without giving it a second thought you twist your neck, and your gaze falls into the entrance hall. The windowpane which reflected two figures kissing a moment ago turns transparent and reveals a figure standing inside.
He’s there, at the top of the staircase, taking you by surprise for a second time this day.
But this time, his eyes are hurt behind his glasses, a deep line is forming on his forehead, and it seems as if he’s rooted to the cold stone floor. Your heart is breaking at the sight of him and you know you must do anything within your power to atone for this moment because you never ever want to see such pain written in his face.
“Gwil,” you breathe out softly and bend down to escape Daniel’s embrace. Pushing the main door, you rush to your neighbour, your friend, your… “Gwil, this means nothing, I’m not –”
“My doorbell rang, and I was foolish enough to think you couldn’t wait until seven. I…” He is avoiding your gaze, his eyes roving round the hall. He brings his hands to his sides, but quickly finds out there are no pockets in his soft camel pleated trousers and so he clasps them together. When he bites his trembling lips, it is almost unbearable to keep your eyes on him, but you cannot look away either.
Then, his features harden, and it is probably worse than before as your stomach tightens.
“Goodbye.”
You almost miss the sound, his voice barely above a whisper. Tears threaten to fall down your cheeks, but Gwilym is already gone, his moccasins tapping against the cold tiles of the stairs. You fight the urge to wrap your arms around yourself and have a breakdown right here and now. All you do is simply turn around, every movement calculated so as not to make an unnecessary one. Daniel is still standing at the entrance, his eyebrows raised in the piqued curiosity of what has just occurred.
“I can’t go for another date with you. I’m sorry.”
But you don’t feel sorry at all, well, not sorry for him at least. Your thoughts have turned into a tangled ball of turmoil and indescribable emotions, which are hard to make sense of.
When you reach your floor, you stop in your tracks to your flat. You have thought you lost all the courage, but you muster some from deep inside and cross the hall to knock on his door with determination.
God knows how long you are standing there, you knock again, and again.
Nothing.
Not even a sign of hope.
Your heart skips a beat when you finally hear the creak of a door being open, but a lump forms in your throat instead when it dawns on you that it is not Gwil’s door but Mrs Thompson’s.
“Hello Mrs Thompson,” you greet meekly the slightly open door of the 3A flat and drag your feet to your home.
You do not bother taking off your shoes or clothes. Crushing straight into your bed, you finally give yourself the permission to let your emotions flow and cry yourself to sleep.

。·☔︎◎❦·。·
“Hello everyone, and welcome to your first day. I’m Dr Gwilym Lee, and I am the head of the English Literature Department here at Oxford University. Feel free to call me Gwil, it’s what all my students do.”
I slanted my eyes from my position at the door, gripping the frame just a tad tighter than I had been before hearing his voice. I continued to listen to the doctor talk as I made my way behind the last row of seats in the lecture room, trying not to make any noise. My heels were thankfully mute against the carpet, not drawing any attention towards me, the professor keeping complete focus on his students.
“One of the first things I wanted to kind of, um, touch on, is that I will be quite flexible. I understand that you have lives, as do I. As long as I can see an honest effort being put into my class, I will hold no repercussions for late work or being physically late to class.”
With that, he looked up to where I had just sat down, quirking a brow. The eye contact was momentary, only lasting what seemed to be a second, if that.
I cleared my throat, looking to my feet.
“We at the english department are quite proud of our status, ranking 4th in english programs overall in the UK. Now I won’t continue to bore you with the statistics, but-“
I made a scan of the room, seeing how only 1 or 2 pupils were actually listening, the rest either slumped over looking at their phones, or pretending to take notes on a laptop while really watching netflix. (More than one student was watching gossip girl, oddly enough.)
Considering it was only 5 minutes into the hour long lecture, I was confused, as he was holding my attention, at least, quite well.
After about 30 minutes, I realized that my own “first day lecture” was in 15 minutes, which assured that I most definitely had to leave. I was saddened by this (even though I had only even planned on staying in Gwil’s room for a small while.
I sighed quietly, picking myself up from the surprisingly comfortable seats and making my way towards the door. Just as I was about to go, I felt eyes boring holes into the back of my head. I turned, realizing Gwilym to be the perp. I opened my mouth to speak and then closed it again, quickly walking out and down the hallway to my own room.
I made it in, hurrying down the many stairs, past where a few students were waiting.
“Hi, everyone, I’ll just be a few moments, just waiting for the rest of your new classmates to arrive.”
I smiled briefly, before slamming my office door audibly, chest heaving with my back against the shaded window. I closed my eyes, unaware of why I had been so panicked by the brief interaction, not to mention the butterflies it hatched in my stomach.
After giving myself some time to decompress, I exhaled, smoothing out the skirt of my dress and rotating. I placed a hand on the handle, preparing myself for the fresh faced freshman.
As I opened the door, I heard half a knock, before whoever was behind the door (poor soul) essentially fell on top of me.
Expecting to see a red faced pupil who had just made a very interesting first impression, I looked up, suddenly becoming the one with a warm and itchy wave of embarrassment making its way up my neck.
“I’m so terribly sorry,” He stood up, reaching out a hand. I hesitated before reaching forward and gripping tightly, allowing him to tug me up.
“It’s alright, Gwil, really.”
He opened his mouth (not that I was paying any mind to his lips), presumably to ask my name. Before he got the chance, I beat him to it, blurting out my full title, unfortunately in a quite awkward way.
The students that had gathered had mostly turned their attention elsewhere by now, only a few of them still watching the live disaster that was my interaction with the incredibly attractive man in front of me.
He spoke up as I tried to maneuver my way around him to the podium positioned in the front of the room where my laptop was waiting.
“Well, I had assumed you were a student who was trying to sneak off early, but I stand corrected, then.” He looked around my slowly filling space, a slight amusement hiding in his gaze.
“Yes, sorry, I had caught you at a bad time, I was hoping to introduce myself, you know, trying to make a good impression. Feels like the first day of school all over again.” I laughed, bringing a hand up to brush away a stray strand that had somehow managed to escape my bun.
“It’s alright, don’t stress about it. And trust me, I get it. New jobs are scary.”
I huffed, looking out at the sea of judgmental young people that I now would have to face after that fiasco. Lovely.
“You could say that again.”
We sat in a comfortable silence for a short amount of time, the clock striking 2:30 being what woke me from my trance.
“That’s my queue.” I gave a small wave as he walked off, a smile spreading across his face at the motion.
I turned to my teaching assistant, fully believing he was out of earshot.
“Il un a visage gentil, eh?”
She only laughed, nodding her head and plugging in my macbook, allowing the screen to come alive with a flurry of colors in my powerpoint.
“Hi guys! Or should I say bonjour!” I paused, receiving a few chuckles in the crowd.
“I’m sorry for getting us started so late, I had a small mishap. I’m Dr Y/n Y/l/n, and I am your professor this year in the French undergraduate course, where you will have the opportunity to study medieval literature, modern day linguistics, and much more, which I will get into later on.
We here at Oxford have the single largest French department in Britain, which we have come to have extreme pride in. We also have a french cultural center, where you will find a large selection of programmes and literature to choose from. If you haven’t yet checked it out yet,” I briefly looked up, seeing Gwilym still stood at the top of the stairs. He gave me another small smile, crossing his arms.
“Sorry, lost my place. Where was I?”
-
After class, I walked up to where the tall man had now moved to the side, allowing students to flood right by him.
“Gwil, hi!”
“Hi to yourself.”
I blushed, the feeling of fuzzy-ness once again flooding my entire system at just the brief statement. Odd. Extremely odd.
“That was very nice, I have a feeling this class will be quite popular in the coming years.”
I smiled and nodded my head. “Thank you, I appreciate it, truly. Although, I must say that I can tell everyone is racing to get a spot in Professor Gwilym Lee’s class 100% percent.”
He cocked his head, slimming his eyes.
“Really, you think so?”
We continued to walk down the long hallway, neither of us quite aware of where we happened to be going.
“Oh for sure, I can imagine you’re especially popular with a certain demographic, too.”
His confusion seemed to only grow, stormy blue eyes seemingly lost.
“What do you mean by that, exactly?” His voice slightly raised an octave at the end, earning a chuckle from me.
“Look, all I’m saying is that with looks like that, I bet your roster was full in seconds.”
I paused, the flow of conversation stopping as I came to terms with what I had just accidentally said. Out loud. In front of my new coworker, who happens to be incredibly gorgeous. A wonderful first day I’m having.
We resumed walking, a blanket of complete silence falling upon us all the way until we reached the entrance to the facility.
The chilly December air hit my face immediately, as well as droplets of rain that were falling so hard it felt like small bullets were grazing my nose, which I could barely feel after just a few moments outside.
“Here.” Gwil muttered, pulling out a bright red umbrella and using it to shield us both from the angry pellets sent from above.
“Ah, thank you.”
“Of course.”
Then it was quiet again between us both, minus the sounds of chattering students and the rain hitting and then sliding off of our cover, coming in contact with the ground with a final splat.
“You know,” Gwilym began, always the one to break the silence.
I hummed, turning my head in his direction.
“I speak a little bit of French, as well. And I think you also have a nice face.” He nudged my elbow and laughed, while I closed my eyes and sighed, hanging my head.
“So there really isn’t any other way I could possibly embarrass myself right now, is there?”
He only shrugged, scratching the back of his head. “Actually, now that I think of it, there might be one more thing I can think of?”
“What would that be?”
“Saying no to a cup of coffee?”
It was like I froze over completely, my mind suddenly growing blank when I needed it mostt.
“With me?” I asked, the question more aimed towards myself, a miniscule act of reassurance and affirmation.
Gwilym smiled brightly as he shook his head, and I swear, I had never seen anything more amazing.
“Yes, Y/n, with you.”
I stuttered, embarrassed for what seemed like the millionth time that day, specifically at my lack of verbal skills.
“Yes, yes of course, that sounds amazing.”
“Then what are we waiting for?”
He offered me an arm which I gladly took, and we started walking to the quaint campus cafe just across the street from our building.
It was the same cafe where (not that we knew it yet) the both of us would make many late night coffee runs together during midterms week, the stressful time growing to become one of our favorites as it was now filled with giggles and caffeine.
Usually it would end up with one of us, that one of us usually being me, leaving a ring of coffee on the other’s ungraded assignments. Or even better, spilling an entire drink on the paper, only a “sorry!” written in Gwil’s rushed handwriting at the top of the curiously scented paper as explanation.
But as I said, we didn’t know that yet.

Hello!! I love your writing so much! I have a request if that’s okay? I was wondering if you could do a suuuuper fluffy piece where maybe Gwil teaches reader how to kiss? Like maybe they really like eachother and he leans in to kiss her and she’s like WAIT and is super embarrassed and tells him she’s never kissed anyone before and he thinks it’s adorable and offers to teach her and it’s really soft and fluffy? Omg that would mean the world!! 💖💖
I feel like this isn't great but I hope you like it!
Warnings: swearing
Again and again...
Along with Neil, Fiona and the other cast, you sat beside Gwilym going over the script. For the first time since your first table reading with them, you were nervous.
When you joined the show a couple of months ago, playing the character of John and Sarah's niece, you were excited and nervous all at the same time, this was your first real acting job. You'd stumbled into acting a couple of years ago when your best-friend asked you to help out with her theatre piece and instantly fell in love with it.
"So, the next scene after is the big one," The director teased. Everyone shared a chuckle as they looked over to you and Gwilym. "We'll open the scene with Gwilym and Y/N sharing their first kiss on the sofa, slowly leading to a heavier one and then that's when Neil, you walk in."
"Oh, hmm, sorry, Nelson-"
"Sir!"
"Oh God!"
A nudge to your foot under the table drew your attention away from Neil and Fiona, and to Gwilym. He subtly pushed a piece of paper towards you.
Drink after?
You gave him a small smile and nodded. Gwilym grinned taking the paper back and scribbling something else.
You look pretty.
You scoffed, covering your mouth as eyes moved over to you, causing you to blush. "Sorry, guys, just a cough-" You coughed into your hand before giving an apologetic look to Neil.
Once the reading was over you and Gwilym headed to pub. Your nerves were still there, bubbling away in the pit of your stomach but they were always there whenever you were around Gwilym. It was always the same. The feeling of butterflies whenever Gwilym smiled at you or touched your hand slightly, you felt like a teenage girl with a bloody crush.
"Is everything okay, Y/N?" Gwilym asked after the two of you had been sat in silence for a few minutes. You nodded, taking a sip of your drink. Gwilym's brow creased as he looked at you. "Are you sure? You didn't seem yourself in the reading. You seemed, almost... Nervous?"
Your eyes widened before you looked down to your hands. "Oh, hmm... I guess, maybe, just a little." You whispered and looked down embarrassed.
"Oh. About what?" Gwilym asked, popping a peanut into his mouth.
"Hmm... Well, tomorrow... We, have to film, that... Hmm... Scene, together." You blushed even more.
"What scene? We've filmed loads of them together. What's different about-" Gwilym began to blush as it dawned on him what was going to be different. "Oh, that, scene."
You nodded, "I haven't, hmm, done one, before." You whispered.
Gwilym nodded, "Oh... It's not that bad, really. You just, give a little kiss," He chuckled. "Unless, you don't want to kiss me?" He nudged you, making you grin.
"That's definitely not the reason." You smiled.
"Oh, so you do, want to kiss me?" You nodded, your face growing redder as you looked up to him. "Oh, good... Cause, you see, I want to kiss you too...." He whispered and leaned in a little. "So, why don't we just, practice, you know?"
You gulped, your eyes glued to Gwilym's lips as he slowly leaned in. "I-" You placed your hand on Gwilym's chest and pushed him back. "I can't."
Gwilym frowned a tad, "You can't what?"
"Well, it's not that, I can't, it's... I," You closed your eyes and looked away from Gwilym. "I've never kissed anyone."
Gwilym sat back in his seat. "Oh, like, not just acting?" You shook your head. "Oh... Well... That's..." Gwilym slowly began smiling as he watched you get embarrassed and your cheeks flush. "God, your fucking adorable." Gwilym grinned.
Your head shot up in surprise. "What? I'm a grown ass woman, who's never kissed anyone before. How is that adorable?" You pouted and folded your arms over your chest.
Gwilym chuckled, "Because, you're adorable. And beautiful, and smart and..." Gwilym looked around the pub with a slight frown. "C'mon," He stood up, holding his hand out toward you.
"What?"
"Just, c'mon," He grinned taking your hand as you stood up.
Gwilym lead you outside into the cool air, the sky had darkened as night slowly crept in. You followed Gwilym over to the green opposite the pub and sat down on a bench that was slightly under a tree but not completely covered so you could still see the stairs.
"Look at me," Gwilym whispered as he slipped his arm around your shoulders. You turned to look at Gwilym, a shy smile on your lips as the two of you faced one another. "You know that it's not a big deal, right? It doesn't change the way I feel about you."
You gulp, running your tongue over your bottom lip. "How, do you feel?"
Gwilym smiled, his eyes flicking to your lips before he looked into your eyes. "The same way you feel."
Your breath caught in your throat. "Oh," You slowly began to smile shyly at him.
"Can I kiss you?" Gwilym whispered. He lightly brushed his fingers over your cheek, pushing your hair back from your face.
You nodded, "I won't be that good,"
Gwilym shook his head gently. "Then we'll kiss again and again," He grinned making you blush.
You nodded, "Okay... Kiss me." You smiled.
Slowly as Gwilym leaned in, his soft hand laid over your cheek, bring some comfort to you as you leaned into him. Your fingers  tangled in his shirt and jacket as you felt his warm breath tickle your lips.
You closed your eyes the moment you felt Gwilym's nose nudge yours. A soft moan left your lips and mixed with Gwilym's as his lips pressed against yours. His fingers tangled  in your hair as his other arm slipped around your shoulders, pulling you closer to him.
"Hmm," A giggle slipped out as you pulled back, panting as you rested your forehead against Gwilym's.
"That was absolutely terrible, Y/N." Gwilym teased, a big grin on his face. "Think it's going to be a long night of practising, don't you?"
You grinned. "Definitely."

Gwil x bookstore employee.
You recognized Gwilym from one or two of your classes, you had the same major in college. He usually sat behind you, and you of course didn’t know it, but he was much more interested in what you were doing than what the professor was saying. He tried to talk to you a few times, sometimes even got the courage to do it, but he couldn’t come up with a good enough topic, so he usually asked about school projects and homework, therefore obviously the conversations ended pretty soon.
You wanted to talk to him as well, but you didn’t want to make the conversation awkward or force it to make it longer. Plus he usually only asked about college stuff, so naturally you thought he’s not interested in you, just asking for some crucial information to pass the class.
The situation slightly changed when you started to work in a bookstore nearby.
The first time Gwilym came there, he honestly didn’t know you would be there, let alone work there. He just wanted some books to read on a spring break. When he saw you in the shirt with the bookstore’s logo and understood you worked there, he thought about a plan to be able to talk to you more and get to know you closer. He didn’t come up to you yet that day, hiding behind the shelves of books, and it looked a little bit as if you were playing hide and seek. However, the next time he promised himself to be more courageous and prepared for the meeting.
He came up to you one day, with a smile on his face, and you immediately smiled back.
“Gwil, hi! Didn’t think I’ll meet you here,” you welcomed him and put the books you had in your hands aside, as he caught you while you were sorting them.
“Oh, you definitely will meet me here a lot. I love reading,” you smiled wider hearing that. What a nice change, to meet a guy who likes reading. All of your male friends were too busy playing videogames all day.
“So, did you get something? Or want me to recommend you a good read?” you raised your brow looking at him. He immediately nodded at your proposition, as he wanted to ask you himself, but didn’t know how to do it.
“Yes, please. I just finished all the series I was reading and need some new ones,” you nodded your head hearing that and looked at him.
“So, what did you read? I could recommend something based on that,” he then proceeded to name several series, some of which you also started reading. You then took a minute to look through the books. “Hmm… You really read everything that was there. But… What about “The Dark Tower” series by Stephen King? You may like it.” He looked at the back of the book to read the summary and then nodded smiling.
“Sounds like fun, I’ll take it,” you took the books he wanted to buy and brought them to the counter.
“We have a discount for extremely nice customers,” you winked to him, making it quite obvious that there was no actual discount, different from the one for employees, which you were planning to give him. You told him the price of the books and he gave you the money, but he didn’t leave immediately after, as you were sure he would.
“When are you finishing?” he asked and you tried to hide both the surprise and the smile. You looked at him.
“In about forty minutes. I just need to finish putting those books in order and then close the bookstore. Why, do you want to talk about books some more?” you smiled at him. Gosh, he was so handsome.
“About books, but not only. I’d like to take you out for coffee or tea, if you wanted to come with me…” you chuckled quietly and that reaction caught him by surprise. “…or not?”
“No, no, I would like to come with you. It’s just that it rhymed, it sounded like a poem,” he smiled as well. “So, do you want to stay with me, or will you come back after I close the shop?”
“I can stay. I can even help you if you want,” you were a little hesitant about it, but finally you agreed.
“But you know, you really don’t have to,” you assured him while he carried a pile of books so you didn’t have to walk for them every single time.
“I know, but I want to,” he smiled and you decided not to dispute the matter with him anymore. Actually, you could really use the help, so it was like heaven listened to your earlier cursing about the weight of the piles of books and big boxes and decided to give you a break.
“Actually, this book should be good for you too,” you said while unpacking another box. “It’s a new one, I started reading it in class, it was quite interesting for me. I’m planning to finish it on the weekend.” Gwilym smiled to hide his embarrassment. Actually, while he was looking for a reason to talk to you, he saw you carrying that book and decided to buy it and read it as well, just so the next time he sees you, he can say ‘oh, you’re reading that?! What a great choice, I just finished it last week!’ and hopefully the problem with the topic of the conversation would work itself out after that.
“Oh, I’m also reading that book, I got it from my friend. Once we finish, we can discuss the plot and everything. I mean, if you want to. I just like to share my opinions with others, create new theories or backgrounds for the characters,” he smiled a bit, because he knew it made him sound like a total dork and a geek.
“Actually, I’d love that,” you smiled. “I already have a few theories and I will like to share them once we finish the book,” oh, he was relieved.
Gwilym found it both ironic and annoying how trying to get to know a girl you like when you’re shy resembled being a total creep and stalking someone. He did not go as far as to check your Facebook profile back to the day you’ve created it, he didn’t even try to check if you have an Instagram account. However, whenever he had a chance he admired your beauty from a distance, like a teenager with a crush, and tried to pick some small details he could hang on the next time he’s trying to start a conversation. He hated his shyness, but you actually found it quite cute. Despite the fact you cursed your own shyness whenever you wanted to talk to him more, but couldn’t, because you were overthinking every single word and once you decided to speak, the moment passed, and it was too late.
Soon, when Gwilym figured out the pattern you had for sorting books, he didn’t just carry them for you, but he also started helping out with putting them in place as well. It was especially useful when you had to go to help the clients and he was left alone with the boxes. You honestly thought you will have to stay overtime to do it, but with his help, you finished right on time.
“Give me a second, I will just change and take my things and we can go. Promise it won’t be long,” you smiled apologetically, but he didn’t have a problem with that.
“I’ll just wait here, reading,” you chuckled quietly.
“Well, I promise I won’t be so long that you’ll finish the whole bookstore.” After that you went to change and it took you just a couple of minutes to be ready, but of course you made sure your make-up and hair were on point. You were also thanking yourself for choosing one of your favorite shirts for today, the one that nicely highlighted your assets – your cleavage and collarbones.
When you came back to Gwil, he smiled involuntary on the sight he had before his eyes.
“You look great,” he smiled as he opened the door for you. You blushed immediately.
“Thanks,” you muttered quietly. Once you closed the bookstore, you headed in the direction he decided on. You felt awkward with yourself, being inexperienced in the whole dating world, but with Gwilym you somehow felt more relaxed, because of his friendly personality and his everlasting smile. When you went to the cafe, he insisted on paying for you, and you finally gave up, promising the next time you’ll pay. You both took hot chocolate, as you decided it was the best drink for talking about books.
“Do you come here often?” you asked, looking around, while you sat at your table. You both immediately chose the one in the corner, away from people, without consulting one another beforehand about the options.
“Yeah, actually, I come here on the breaks sometimes. I like the atmosphere here,” he explained, while making himself comfortable in the big armchair.
“I can see why. It’s a perfect place for a cozy afternoon with a book. I don’t know why I haven’t been here yet. It’s quite close to my workplace after all…”
Somehow the conversation didn’t feel awkward between you two. You proceeded to discuss various books, characters, theories and fandoms and it was as if you met here every Friday for a few months. And it soon became that. He often came to pick you up from work, you always told him when you found some nice new book to read. You also watched the same TV series, so the conversation topics soon expanded, and it felt more natural and easy with every single time.
One time, after a few weeks of your meetings, Gwilym surprised you at work, without earlier giving you any hints that he may be coming. He didn’t let you know simply because he didn’t know himself if he will get the courage to come that evening. You were surprised, but in a nice way, and you welcomed him with a hug.
“I’m finishing in a few minutes, so we can go somewhere. Maybe to the cinema, for the new superhero movie and then for a dinner, how about it?” you had to say it all at once because you knew that if you hesitated, you wouldn’t say it. It was the very first time you were to meet outside college, your workplace or that cafe. You were too shy and insecure to assume he liked you the same way you liked him, but you prayed for it. That’s why you decided to invite him on a proper date, rather than just for a two-people book club meeting.
He nodded, but was sort of in a different place mentally, so you naturally took it as a “no” in a sense that he did not like you back. However, he then gave you a notebook. It was a black notebook with no design on it, so you looked at him a bit surprised. Then you decided to just open it. While it opened on the first page, you saw a question written on it, in Gwilym’s neat handwriting.
“Will you be Mary Jane to my Spiderman?” was the sentence on the page, with some doodles of spider webs and the Spiderman himself, with his heart pumping out of his chest. You looked at it with disbelief and then at him. After a few seconds you nodded and hugged him tightly.
“Yes! Yes, of course I will,” you smiled widely and he hugged you back, quietly sighing with relief. He kissed your cheek.
“I’m sorry for being so cheesy. I was just too scared to say it out loud,” he muttered embarrassed, actually blushing, which makes him look even cuter.
“I find it very sweet. It’s going to be our notebook, for our memories. And book reviews!” you joked and he smiled hugging you and taking you off the ground, spinning you around, as you squeaked quietly, scared to kick some books off the shelves in the process.
He leaned down to put you back on the ground and you looked at each other. You both intuitively moved a little closer to each other and you ended up kissing. What a beautiful view that was, like right from one of the books you read. Outside there was raining, that’s why Gwilym came in a little wet, and now you were kissing right next to the glass door of the bookstore. It made you look as if you were on a cover of a book. And it truly was a beautiful love story.

Day 23- Gift Exchange
A/N: Prompt #23 for @acdeaky ‘s writing challenge!
Pairing: Prof!Gwil x Female!Reader
Summary: It’s the English Department’s annual Christmas party and you drew Gwil’s name for the Secret Santa.
Warnings: Fluff and Drinking
Taglist: @queenlover05 @theblossomknows
You placed your pen down and rubbed your temples, exhausted already even though you’d only read four of the nearly one hundred term papers you needed to grade.
There was a knock at your office door. You looked up to see your co-worker, Gwilym.
“Ready for a break?” He asked, holding up a coffee cup.
“Yes, please,” you smiled at him.
He walked in and sat across from you, setting the coffee cup down. You grabbed it and took a drink, humming at the taste.
“Thank you. Just what I needed to get through these term papers.”
“Having a rough time, huh?”
“If I get one more essentially copy and pasted analysis of Robert Frost, I’m going to throw up.”
Gwil chuckled and took a sip of his own copy. “Fair enough. I told you you should have dropped the freshmen class when you had a chance.”
“You’re right,” you sighed.
“I should let you get back to work. Wouldn’t want you to be late for the Christmas party,” Gwil stood up with a wink.
You smiled at him. “Very true. I’d hate to miss Dean Philips’ annual speech.”
Gwil raised his coffee cup at you and then exited your office. You watched him go with a wistful glance.
A couple hours later, you were at the Christmas party. You had a glass of wine in your hand and were talking with one of your coworkers about her freshmen class.
“I just don’t understand why they all think they have to choose ‘The Road Not Taken’,” you complained.
“I know exactly what you mean. Some of mine…”
“Alright everybody! Time for Secret Santa!” The Dean announced.
“Oh, great,” she sighed. “Just something that I don’t want from somebody I don’t like.”
You laughed and gave her a gentle shove. “Oh let’s just get it done.”
You didn’t want to tell her, but you were excited about giving your Secret Santa their gift. You’d gotten Gwil and were so happy to show him what you’d gotten him.
Gwil actually found you, with a shy smile on his face.
“Hi,” he held out a box to you. “I drew your name.”
“What a coincidence,” you held out your own gift to him. “Because I drew your name.”
“Why don’t you open yours first?”
“No, you go. I insist.”
Gwil shook his head, but started to unwrap his. His jaw dropped when he opened tickets to a play that had just opened in the West End that was based on his favorite works of Charles Dickens.
“You didn’t,” he muttered, almost under his breath.
“I did. You’ve been talking about going to see it for so long and…”
“You should open yours now.” Gwil offered you a crooked smile which melted your heart. “I hope you like it.”
You started to unwrap the gift that he got you and you gasped. It was a first edition of ‘Emma’ by Jane Austen.
“Gwil,” you whispered.
“I know it’s your favorite and I found it at a book shop and it…”
You threw your arms around him and pulled him into a kiss. Gwil kissed you back and slid his arms around your waist. You pulled away and rested your forehead to his.
“I thought we weren’t going to tell everyone until after the new year,” Gwil said with a bit of a laugh.
Some of your coworkers had noticed and were already starting to cheer and congratulate the two of you.
“A bit late for that, huh?” You replied, pulling him in for another kiss.

Different eyes.
Not. You.
The gist of the conversation you’d had with Gwilym moments before had basically been that the person he was fond of was undoubtedly not you, and now you were heading into the arms of someone comforting and familiar to try and heal your slightly wounded heart… and ego.
“There she is!” he grins as you walk towards his outstretched arm.
You wrap your arms around his torso tightly as you press your cheek against his shirt and close your eyes with a sigh, then he looks down at you with a slightly concerned frown and hugs you firmly as he leads you out into the garden away from the party.
“I’m gonna need a cigarette,” you huff once you’ve been pulled down onto a bench and tucked into his side.
“You haven’t smoked in years,” he says with a shake of his head, “I’m not going to let you ruin that.”
“Actually I had one a couple of months back so you wouldn’t be ruining anything,” you point out as you hold your open hand at the level of his chest and wait for what you wanted.
“You’d better not be lying to me,” he frowns.
You place your other hand over your heart, “I promise I’m not lying Rufus.”
“Fine,” he tuts, fishing the packet and a lighter out of his pocket and dropping them into your palm, “so what’s the special occasion then?”
“Uh… being surrounded by too many happy couples.”
“Well in that case I’ll be joining you.”
You and Rufus had become firm friends after he joined The Darkness what with you being their officially unofficial seamstress, and you barely left one another’s side when you got together like this. Your friendship had only grown when you were hired in the costume department of Bohemian Rhapsody, but you’d also got close to a certain tall brunette who had shot you down only moments ago, and of course Rufus was the first person you wanted to see after such a blow. He holds you tight, knowing you needed comfort for something but not quite sure what, and he keeps an eye on you as you inhale your cigarette; a sight he wasn’t used to seeing these days.
“So I heard about you and Gwilym...”
“Me and Gwilym?” you scoff, “trust me when I say there is no me and him.”
“That’s not what I’ve been told… apparently you two have been seen getting cosy together on multiple occasions and he’s quite vocal with his adoration for you,” Rufus explains as you sit up to face him after almost choking on your last drag of the cigarette.
“What?!” you laugh, “I literally just spoke to him about what his type is and I could not be further from the woman he’s looking for!”
“As if!” Rufus protests, “he must be fucking blind.”
You chuckle at his insistence that there must be something wrong with the guy then stub out your cigarette and slide your arms around his waist as you lean in and kiss his cheek.
“It’s the only logical explanation,” he continues as he flicks his own cigarette butt onto the floor before stepping on it firmly and returning your hug, “how about we move our deal forwards a little then?”
“By how many years?”
“Well, we said if we hadn’t found anyone by 40 we’d get married, so how about we change it to 30?” he offers.
“That’s next year!” you laugh.
“Fine,” he huffs playfully, “35.”
“Okay, deal,” you nod.
You shake your head with a smile as you think about what it would be like being married to your best friend, but unbeknownst to the two of you your tight embrace is being watched carefully by two people from the patio doors.
“So you were going to tell her how you feel and now she’s on a bench with Rufus looking very close…” Ben observes, “how did you fuck that up so badly?”
“Since when did she smoke?” Gwil asks absent-mindedly, completely ignoring Ben’s question.
“We shared a ciggy on a night out once but she doesn’t smoke regularly,” he explains, “...I need you to tell me exactly what you said because that should be you out there, not him.”
“It doesn’t even matter, I’ve fucked up and missed my chance. It’s too late. I’m gonna head home I think; I don’t want to see those two getting together because of me,” Gwilym huffs.
“Would you just answer my question?! What the hell did you say to her?!”
The tall man sighs and his shoulders drop before he turns to his friend and explains, “we were just chatting, it was going well I swear, and then it got a bit awkward. The conversation had finally got around to what we look for in prospective partners and I was basically describing her, or so I thought anyway,” he pauses as Ben nods to urge him on, “kind heart, witty sense of humour, blue eyes-”
“Blue?”
“Yeah…”
“They’re green you idiot!”
Gwil’s face drops at the sudden realisation that yes, yours were definitely green just like Ben’s, and he slaps his hand to his forehead, “I’ve totally fucked it haven’t I?”
“Not necessarily… but it’s gonna take some explaining to get out of this one.”
“Oh this is just bloody brilliant isn’t it? I’ve just thrown her into Rufus’ arms. Shit. Fuck. Maybe it’s for the best, I don’t know. Why would she want to be with me when she’s got him? He’s her age, and I’m guessing from all the staring at her he definitely knows what colour her eyes are.”
“Stop putting yourself down, they’re the same age as me and I’m not being funny but men mature a lot slower than women so trust me when I say she needs someone your age. Seven years is just the right amount I’d say; you’re more mature than him but still have that young sense of humour and can laugh at a poo joke.”
Ben looks over to his friend who smiles at his comment, but he sees it fade just as soon as it appeared.
“That’s it, we’re going in,” Ben states, dragging Gwil out of the house and across the green.
“Ben!” he whispers, “Ben! No!”
He lets go of Gwilym before carrying on over to the bench and striking up a conversation with Rufus who is soon peeled away from your side and guided back inside the house thanks to Ben’s natural gift of easy conversation, and you’re left sat out in the cold with no one to keep you warm until a familiar figure takes a seat with his coat clasped between his hands.
“Here,” he says, draping the warm jacket over your shoulders, “bit chilly isn’t it?”
“Thanks,” you say quietly, relishing in the feel of his lingering body warmth on the clothing.
There’s a slight pause as you wait for him to say something, and you pull the jacket around you a little more as you sit back to give him the impression you are more relaxed than you actually were feeling.
“So, uh, I realise I’ve been a massive twat,” he begins, pausing for a second just in case you wanted to confirm his finding, “and I just wondered if you could do me a massive favour?”
You frown a little in confusion, “okay...”
“Could you just ask me the question you did before? When we were sitting on the stairs inside?”
“Uhm… right… so, what do you look for in a prospective partner?” you ask, unable to face him just in case it still wasn’t you.
“Well, funny you should ask actually (Y/N), because what I look for is someone who has a kind heart, a witty sense of humour, green eyes, and someone who gives the most comforting hugs I’ve ever felt,” he looks at you and you slowly turn your head to meet his gaze, “and what do you look for? Please don’t say plays drums, has long blonde hair, and is related to Roger Taylor, because I will be devastated.”
You let out a chuckle at his last statement, “well that ruins my first answer… better go with plan B then… I guess my second choice would be tall, brunette, someone who can make me feel safe with just one look, someone loyal, trustworthy, and plays guitar would be a slight bonus.”
“Second choice?! That cut deep,” he groans, grabbing his shirt over his chest and grimacing.
“So did blue eyes...”
“I deserved that,” he nods, “that will go down in history as the absolute stupidest thing I’ve ever said out loud.”
“I take it you told Ben what you said?”
“Oh yes, and I will never hear the end of it from him either, trust me… so, uh, what happens now?” he asks almost nervously, his eyes moving from yours to his lap.
You couldn’t lie, you really wanted to kiss him; you’d watched those lips so carefully during every conversation you had, wondering what they’d feel like against yours, then against your skin as his slender fingers pressed into your body, trying to feel all of you at once. As if he could hear your thoughts his hand suddenly but gently lands on your thigh and you place one of yours on top of it until your fingers fall through the gaps between his and you’re interlinked.
“Maybe we could just stay where we are and…” you wave your free hand to suggest no plan in particular and Gwil smiles before rubbing your thigh and leaning over to kiss your temple.
His lips linger on your hair as you hold your breath then he moves down to your cheek where his lips press against your warm skin slowly, and finally he pulls back by only a matter of millimetres to wait for you to turn your face towards him so he can capture the lips he’d pined after for such a long time. You move slowly, savouring every second of the sensation of his breath against your skin, and when you connect in your first kiss it’s embarrassingly cliched as you feel, and even see, the sparks appearing between you both. The grip you have on one another’s hands tightens along with the kiss then when you reach maximum hold the kiss ends and you’re left breathless on the bench.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for that,” he whispers.

A/N: This is my first time writing for Borhap in like a year so be kind and I had to make my research too and I found out that I have some ADHD symptoms so yay! self-discovery (I’m not making an auto diagnosis but it was good to know it) anyways it’s short but cute but to the point.
MASTERLIST HERE
Dating Gwilym had been nothing but a dream. He was a gentleman and he treated you and spoiled so much in more than one way, however, you haven't been comfortable enough to spend the night at his place. Being younger than him by almost 8 years and him being a public figure brought an awful lot of attention to the relationship and he also was very well aware of your problems with ADHD. Today you had spent the day at his place watching movies here and there and joking around (most of the time you were talking and moving around under the blanket but you couldn't help it) at around 6:00 you decided it was time to leave. "Why can't you stay?" he asked hugging you from behind softly kissing your neck "My bed's big enough for the two of us" "I know," you said and turned around to face him "but I don't want to be a bother" "You're not a bother!" he stated, "I told you I don't mind staying up late with you or to help you calm you down. I miss you so much sometimes" "And a miss you too" you assured him "but this is my final decision I don't want you to have a restless night because of me" "Please I've done my research on this so that you can spend the night with me" he begged "Please ask me anything" "Uhm...do you know what restless legs syndrome is?" you asked looking down at your feet. "It's one of the possible sleeping disorders caused by ADHD" he recalled from what he had read. "Yeah well...that's my problem with sleeping most of the nights" you explained, "I toss around and move a lot and I don't want you..." "Don't finish that sentence" he interrupted you "I want you here doll...please" "Fine" you sighed feeling surprised. You've had boyfriends here and there but they never took the time to understand what was like for you not to sleep as peacefully as everybody else did. "What time do you usually go to sleep?" he asked you not bothering in hiding his smile. "Uhm...around 10 o'clock 11 tops" you replied. "Alright so that gives us around 5 hours tops to spend time together," he said "and do you have any routine I need to know? I read that having a calming bedtime routine might be important" "I don't have one really" you shrugged "I just turn off my phone and try to avoid Netflix during the evening" "So that means no Netflix and chill" he softly laughed, making you smile "but we can have a small dinner I'm going to start making it now" He left you alone in the bedroom to make something simple for both of you so you wouldn't go to bed with an empty stomach (something you were used to doing). Though you still had your doubts about this you couldn't help the feeling growing inside. You felt loved and safe for the first time in a long time.
After a few minutes, he called you for dinner, nothing too fancy just some salad since it was getting late a big dinner wouldn't be right for you. "Would you like to have a warm bath?" he asked you again while eating your dinner "I also read that a change of temperature can help you get a better night. I could prepare it for you" "Gwilym! I-I truly don't deserve" he chuckled moving with his hand as though he was brushing off your statement "No seriously nobody, not even my parents, have had these considerations with me on this topic" "I just want to make sure you're okay" he simply said "your my girlfriend and I love you and I want to make sure you're alright" "I love you too" you replied "and tomorrow morning you can come with me on my morning hike" "Alright, doll" he laughed "but I'm making you breakfast tomorrow morning and you can sleep as long as you want okay?" You were getting ready to protest since it was most likely that you'd wake up Gwilym at some point of the night but before you could say anything Gwil cut in with an "end of discussion" and he put the dishes away. "On one condition" you pleaded " only if you join in the bathroom in a few minutes" "Deal" he smiled as you disappeared into the hallway.
