Union Day 2024 - What unites us is greater than what divides us.

I noticed you've been making more art of Machete and Vasco after they met again as adults - is this canon? Do they get to rekindle their friendship after all, or is it still brief and bittersweet? (I love your characters and art, btw!)
Thank you! I'm glad you like them!
It's canon, I believe. After their confusing and apprehensive friends-to-lovers involvement ended in their early 20's, their paths end up crossing again unexpectedly in their mid 30's and things gradually grow from there.

In his op-ed for The Guardian, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders propels the American labor conversation forward by arguing for a 20% cut in the standard 40-hour workweek, without any loss in pay.
He points to the 480% increase in worker productivity since 1940, asserting that such gains have mainly enriched corporations while leaving the working class in a perpetual state of struggle.
Sanders' rallying cry resonates with the ongoing initiatives by labor unions, especially the United Auto Workers (UAW), which recently initiated strikes against major automotive companies such as Ford Motor Co., General Motors Co. and Stellantis. The UAW is also pushing for a four-day workweek while preserving the pay for a five-day week, a demand that Sanders supports. This is part of a long-running struggle by unions to balance productivity gains against working hours that has seen little progress over the years as real wages in the auto industry have declined by 17%.
Research backs the concept of a reduced workweek, with a study led by Boston College Professor Juliet Schor indicating that efficiency can increase without requiring workers to cram more tasks into fewer hours.
International examples provide practical confirmation. In France and Norway, shorter workweeks are either in place or under consideration. A U.K. pilot study involving 3,000 workers in over 60 companies demonstrated increased happiness and productivity with a four-day workweek, prompting 92% of the participating companies to adopt the new schedule permanently.
Public opinion in the United States is also aligning with this idea. A Morning Consult survey showed that 87% of employed adults in the U.S. are interested in a four-day workweek, and 82% believe it could work on a broader scale. Likewise, a study by 4 Day Week Global revealed that none of the companies participating in four-day workweek experiments in North America have plans to revert to a traditional five-day week.
Despite these positive indicators, Sanders acknowledges the uphill battle to win these changes. Any benefits for the working class won't be "easily handed over by the corporate elite," he said.
Yet, as automation and technological progress, like the anticipated efficiencies in electric vehicle manufacturing, continue to threaten traditional work structures, they also underscore the feasibility of a reduced workweek.
The synergy between the voice of labor unions, the American working class, international examples and influential policymakers like Sanders makes the vision of a four-day workweek not merely a pipe dream but a realistic, achievable objective that could reshape labor norms for future generations.

Yandere!Great_Day & a Darling Who Escaped
Tumblr media
cw: use of pet names (my dove, dove), gn! reader, reader goes to jail, deceased people, false accusations, yandere great, lemme know if i missed more!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Escaping this man itself is almost, if not impossible. He has AT LEAST 1 one of his subordinates keeping an eye on you. Like, the only time you have to yourself is when you go to the bathroom. And if it's not one of his operatives watching you, it's him. Maybe he'll have you sit besides him while he's doing his work. And if you're good, perhaps you can go and explore more obscure places!
Well, enough of that. Now, escaping him must have been planned a few months back. You were just waiting for the right time to strike, and now your chance came into light! So you followed through your plan, and ta-da! You're now a disguised resident of The Days City.
Your taste of freedom was like never before, not having someone constantly looking out for you was a blast! You could sleep without being watched! Oh.
Sleep.
Where were you going to stay??? Perhaps you could find a resident of some kind and live there. And that's where Great comes in. He won't be panicked. Why would he? He could simply send his best operatives to your rescue. But where's the fun in that?
He likes the thrill of the chase! So he'd let you roam free. For now.
But once you go to buy yourself a cozy home to be at, you're suddenly arrested. Apparently you'd been a suspect of a recent murder, the victim being a close friend of yours.
You've been framed.
You try to explain that the killer wasn't you, that you were their friend, but they're stubborn and persistent. They won't stop until you plead guilty. You silently sob to yourself before you hear your name get called. "A visitor wants to see you." You wipe your face so you won't look teary eyed while looking at the ground. You nod and follow the officer into the visitors room before you see your beloved, patiently waiting for you, tapping the heel of his shoe against the floor. You gulp.
While you grab the chair in front of the glass separating you two, he looks at others, smiling at them all around. That facade vanishes into thin air after he looks at you, ice cold and disappointment only visible in his glare. You're petrified. Unable to make any movements.
He cuts the silence by saying the words "How were your few moments of freedom like, dove?" You looked at your lap and explained how you were trying to find yourself a residence. Until the police caught you. Tears threatening to spill as you practically begged him to help you get out of here.
The police were ruthless here. Absolutely brutal. They left a man headless as a warning to others. You just didn't want to witness anything like that ever again. The tears welding up in your eyes flowed as you looked at him. You swear you weren't the killer! Why would you kill your friend!?
He smiled, a sadistic one at that. He was almost spent. 𝘈𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵!

For that is truly great power which does not degenerate into mere force but remains inwardly united with the fundamental principles of right and of justice. When we understand this point — namely, that greatness and justice must be indissolubly united — we understand the true meaning of all that happens in heaven and on earth.

Yandere Great Day x Reader
tw/ yan behaviour, blood, death, gore.
Tumblr media
"Great-" You couldn't finish your sentence.
The overpowering, sickening gut feeling of vomit swelled as you stepped backwards, ready to faint at any moment. Your pupils dilated in horror as you watched Great stand tall again, rubbing the soaked gloves on his work apron. From his work bench, dark almost velvet blood dripped onto the tiles and a tangled experimented corpse laid on the counter.
You wanted to turn and run, scream for help. When he asked you to stay over for the night with one of your friends... was that your friend?
The dots connected in your head as you fled back up the stairs from the muggy basement, sobbing loudly as you made it back to the kitchen.
Wheezing, you knew now. You knew why Great wanted to hang out with you and your friend.
You couldn't stop crying as you reached for the phone.
"Honey?"
You screamed to yourself, picking up the phone and spinning around, pressing yourself on the counter.
Now you could take in full picture of him. Hunched over, his chest rising in and out. Blood soaked from head to toe, his eyes dilated to just small pupils, holding a small knife.
"Put down the phone." Great demanded, hissing lowly.
"No." You sternly said back. "I know... I know what your plan is, I'm just.. too late."
Great's expression didn't falter as he tried to reach for you, but instantly you pressed the ring button and and bolted for the living room, screaming into it as soon as the lady on the phone answered.
"Y/N" Roared Great Day. "GIVE ME THE PHONE."
Like a baby deer you scrambled to the front door, slamming your fists on it.
"THE POLICE- THE POLICE ARE COMING." You screamed at Great, who was running for you.
You needed to stay alive, alive until the police showed up. Frantically watching Great run at you, you quickly slid out of the way, making him slam face first into the door as you raced.. raced to the back door and slammed your body into it.
You KNEW that it was very old, and never locked properly. Using this, you slammed your whole body into it, it creaked with the sudden force, breaking from it's sliding hinges.
Rubbing your face you scrambled outside on the back porch.
"Clever Bunny." Great cooed, cackling softly.
