In love with the idea of captain marvel being Billy's imaginary friend. Like, it'd be so easy. Early depictions had them as almost fully separate people sometimes, like one soul with two minds, rather than just two filters like we mostly see now.
But imagine a Billy down on his luck, hurt and hiding from police and criminals alike, daydreaming the hours away as children do, taking inspiration from all the superheroes rising to fame, making little stories to play out his dreams of saving the world with a generic action doll he found while dumpster diving once. Most of the paint's rubbed off.
Red's his favourite colour, his comfiest jumper is a bright ruby even after all the grime and washes. Gold, too, it's shiny and warmer than silver! A hero cape is a must, big and eye catching! And he can fly, of course, like superman, and in his daydreams, when he's sore and frustrated after a long day's grind, his superhero is smart enough and knows all the right words to get the bullies to stop without resorting to fighting.
His superhero fantasy is one he spends a lot of time on, the first one he goes for when struggling to sleep at night, and he can picture it so clearly. Captain marvel is big and bright and kind, strong enough to lift the boxes for the old lady up the road who's moving all by himself, fast enough to catch Jamie who fell out of the tree on Saturday and broke his leg and couldn't come to class for weeks. He appears at the entrance to alleys when Billy is cornered, he steps up behind to cover for him when he gets caught shoplifting, he sits at the bus stop with him when it's pouring rain and the right bus doesn't seem to be coming.
And then the wizard comes, or rather whisks him away, and like a magician from a fairytale breathes life into his imaginary friend until Billy feels thrice his size and a million times more invincible.
From then on, captain marvel is a real hero, just like Billy is a real boy, and as one they save the whole city, and then the whole world, and get cats down from trees and help Mrs Victoria move the last of her boxes and she gives them a pinch in the cheek and cookies for the road and sometimes it hurts but it's so much better than he imagined.

Finally got my ass in gear and made some art this damn month. The Gravity Falls cover for Keys has been a long time coming, but I think it turned out really nice! Fun fact, my first Keys world cover was actually for GF, but I decided to revamp it from the ground up to make it look more in line with the rest of the covers. It's weird drawing GF characters again after so long, but very fun. I enjoyed it ^_^
This was what I made my twin for his birthday. I didn’t know what to make him as usually he ask for a curtain thing and my default for him is gravity falls as he love the show. I send him wonder twins gifs and he demanded gravity falls gifs instead
I feel like it very Mabel of me to make this especially in 2 days
I know the binding is a bit off on the back but I really didn’t want to re do the whole thing as I didn’t know how long it would have taken and it hand made so it adds character
I literally pulled out all the notebooks and sketchbooks and took pages out of all of them to make this. It have different paper of different weights, even watercolor paper and I added a think broad so he could pain in the book. I added a pocket for tracing paper and a rebinded a line page booklet so it matches
And if you were wondering this was the wrapping paper I used haha
[ID: a 3D prop of the Gravity falls 3rd Journal . The inside is a sketchbook. With the ribbon and tassels. The last picture the book wrapped in butterflies paperID]
"All we know about Ford's musical tastes is that he likes the Eurythmics so if I want to come up with a playlist based on music he probably liked before he got portaled, I should be looking for 80s synth-pop and new wave music—" I am a fool
Ford missed 80% of the 80s. I keep subjecting myself to songs that would be perfect for him that he couldn't have heard.
Smalltown Boy. Ford yearning to flee as far from home as he can get by crossing the country to attend West Coast Tech; and, when that doesn't work out, running off to the first college that will take him and then crossing the country to move to Oregon. Released: 1984.
Nobody's Diary. Ford's tendency to turn his back on the people closest to him—his brother, his family, his only (non-evil) friend—without addressing their issues, much less getting closure; and his tendency to process and make sense of his life by documenting it. The journals the journals the journals. Released: 1983.
True Faith. Socially withdrawing in a cabin in the woods and devoting all your time, effort, money, flesh, sleep, and dreams to completing a project given to you by a shining golden dream-muse couldn't possibly be a bad idea. Buy more Bill tapestries. Released: 1987.
Opportunities. Just read it as "I've got the brains (genius in theoretical sciences), you've got the brawn (genius in mechanics and engineering)" and this song 100% accurately reflects just how completely shady the job Ford recruited Fiddleford for really was. Released: 1985.
Never Let Me Down Again. Pictures taken seconds before disaster (i.e. Ford's last-ditch effort to convince himself that there's NO WAY Bill has betrayed him, right before Bill confirms he's betrayed him). Released: 1987.
Major Tom. Song that exists on the threshold between wildly yearning to explore the vast wondrous expanse of the multiverse, and the deep cosmic horror of getting irreversibly yeeted into the multiverse. Released: 1983.
Why did I decide that the genre I'm gonna associate with Ford is the genre he missed completely. Shooting myself in the foot. Like I'm gonna assign these all as Ford songs anyway but I'm gonna sigh loudly over it
A redraw of next-generation Pines family in manga style! Commissioned from Elinanoodles.
(wait... didn't I see this before, kinda?)
Yes, but well, I decided to commission for a more dynamic version of the artwork. And thus I approached another artist, who did a fantastic job in her style.
Original version.
