CHRONICLE ZERO, 30/7 - 6/8

(if any of the IRL dates are wrong by a day, blame it on my timezone being very different)

Okay! So! I'm just going to keep somewhat up to date by doing these in chunks! Yeah! Most of these are just initial thoughts and commentary, but that's to be expected. Anyways-

I've previously covered this, so here's a link to that.

Although as an add-on to it, I should mention that I am leaning away from the tape idea now (as cool as it was,) as some of the posts were a bit- too visual? Such as using arrows, the misspellings, and crossing out words. I've heard from people that it could be a journal, a typewriter, a pink pricess digital diary-

All of which would make 100% sense, absolutely.

The poll! This will be another interactive, it seems. The options were just saying Hello in various ways. Didn't seem to affect or interact with the next batch of writing so likely it's one of those "keep trying, at some point it will work and get through!" features. (Ask blog Chronos go!!)

August 4th (irl date, assuming it matches)

So, it's een eight months since some kind of event. (It was December 4th if so). It's hard to forget aforementioned event, although they wish "they could stop keeping time as much as they do." It's interesting phrasing for sure.

"been through hell and back since then" (awww Chronos....)

'yoXX you'd think I would get used to the looks, the glaXX (glances?), The phrXX (uh.. phrases?) the REMARKS, the notes. But they don't understand. "

Show them? Make them understand? Make them think about how their actions affecting Chronos and family? Who is them? By itself I was thinking that "they" are the GIC's, hense the inability to communicate. But with the stuff from before it could also just be the general populace being all "ooh something happened to those guys let's all STARE AT THEM AND WHISPER." Which isn't great either, or easily stoppable. Small town vibes too.

Then the list of good things, like "my family" and "my dog", including an individual named Jay (likely the "she' mentioned before) and another entry that is crossed out. (Also I'm worried that uh, everyone on this list isnt going to get out this well-)

Bad things: Unforgettable. But not a lot of information given to us just yet-

Chronos is also coming around to how useful/helpful the Chronicles are

Second Poll, Same Day:

Another poll, also with a just question mark for the text. The options are "Who?" And "What?". I think it's asking what we want to know more about in the Chronicles, the characters? Or the world? (Well idk for What, what can mean a lot of things)

These polls feel eerily similar to the early gamey interactions in TSE, with the first one being a little bit of a dud and not wholly consequential, whilst the second leads to more more information about the area, and kinda controls what the character says and does. (In this case, what they write about next for our information)

August 5th

J (presumably, Jay) suggested Chronos log their "Wild dreams" the past few days. there's another X cross out in the word "another" (anohtX) but this time, only one. The first one is misspelt so could be simply just crossing out (quite literally) the misspelling.

So... Kinda info about the characters??? In terms of the Who/What from before? It's not as strong of a link as I would like it to be but it's all good-

(a dream discription, one of a number to come)

Standing in field of an unidentified plant, under a red sky. Weird terrain, felt like the ssky was curving upward. The sun was gone. (gnX)

Walking, trying to find something, not presently remembered. Then they started to sink, and they fell into a Chasm, a created, almost geometric yet unstable cave. Smooth white rock or concrete walls. Shifted and changed as they went deeper, until they saw "it". (Whatever it is, they didn't want to see it.) Dream be forcing them to see it though.

Then they're back in the field.

Stay tuned for Zero looks up Dream Interpretation and pretends to know what they're doing! (Cause I'm 100% sure it will be a long one, so different post)

August 6th

(aka the funny post that made GLRanboo jokingly ask if I was Chronos/Chronicle, bc of the screaming about work thing-)

Damn guys I think they don't like their work or their manager. One could interpret the million years old thing as just another word for "old geezer" but wouldn't it be funny if he actually was a million years old-

Anyways, I'm going to hazard a guess that what they sell is something technology related. Anyways, we don't like the manager here, how dare they not give any respect to Chronos.

XX update: another two XX's on the word making (he's maXX), and then another four at the end of a lot of exclamation marks.

Moving on, Chronos showed their dream to Jay, who suggested that's to do with a cycle and being forced to relive stuff (RELIVE THINGS YOU SAY-)

As for the snacking comment- I have no idea if that actually has anyy correlation to what you dream. More J lore about liking the crazy and supernatural, but what I find interesting is the three different ratios Chronos gives. Like, yeah okay man we get it you wanna be right, I'm sure you are I'm sure-

50/50, 60/40, 70/30. Just constantly increasing your chances at winning, I see u-

So, we have got a little bit of lore building! Real cool real cool.

(I feel it in my bones that MatPat would mention all over the rewriting and changing and the three different ratios, but in that case he'd be absolutely horrified if he saw my old school books-)

First entry

Dear Diary (and everyone who reads it),

I needed a place to put my thoughts, and I like to write, so if you like to read random people's brain farts, be my guest :D But this diary, journal, blog, whatever, will be about The Sims. I'm not gonna put tags on this entry because it's just rambling. I used to do this on Twitter, but making threads is too much work. Here, I can edit and don't have to worry about character limits.

I recently restarted my so called "main save", and I wanna tell you about that one. I'm not consistant with my gameplay (or anything in my life). I started my main save in 2019, but I migrated all the sims to a new save almost every year for some reason (sometimes the save became buggy, or I removed so many CC it was easier to start over than giving everyone a makeover). Sometimes I skipped a generation and just gave my sims already teen children, then I realized I hate that I don't have memory from their childhood, then I migrated my sims again and lost the photos, diplomas etc. And working backwards to replace all the lost memories is all work, no play. So I restarted but with Season 0.

Why do I say Season 0 instead of Gen 0? Because it's Gen 1, but they are teens, not young adults, and I wanted to play out their backstory instead of cheating their skills, careers and etc. And also because I view their story in seasons.

The thing is, 2019 wasn't just the begining of my main save. Me and my husband started to write a story together. We planned storylines, arcs, plots together and wrote it. After we finished a big arc, we forwarded time a few years and started Season 2 with the children of the original characters. And we turned those characters into sims to help eachother visualize their apperance. And I started my main save with our RP characters.

And that's the root of the name of the save: Pine Rock Legacy. Pine Rock is a fictional place, a small town in a middle of a pine forest. The title of our story Pine Rock Chronicles, and we are on Season 4. Thousands of pages, it's ridiculus.

My main save was never a perfect depiction of the original story. It was always just a fanfiction (yeah, I'm a fan of our work xD not gonna lie). Because in the sims, we don't have humans who can turn into dragons, shamans, werewolves who turn into wolves instead of furries (I don't have a problem with furries).

Now with the restart of my main save I had to choose between wanting to stay close to the original as much as I can, or completely rewrite the story. And after playing for one sim weak, I realized I have to rewrite their story. So I'm gonna do that, and I started a separet blog for that: Pine Rock Legacy This way I can keep this blog like a sims diary, while my Pine Rock Legacy will be organized somewhere whitout my other ramblings.

Lilo & Stitch (BIG favorite)

Cars 2 (I used to watch this at least once a week and I could recite the opening scene from memory)

Barbie Fairytopia (or Barbie movies in general but the Fairytopia movies were my favorites)

I used to watch Shrek 2 on DVD on every single long car trip because I had a portable DVD player that was kind of broken and Shrek 2 was the only movie I had that would still work.

Against my will, I've seen The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian like ten times despite never having watched another movie or read a single book in that series. I did play the White Witch in my high school drama production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe though. My mom's oldest goddaughter was really into that series.

5 movies that I watch a lot:

Clue (1985) is legit my favorite movie I watch it all the time

I've watched Oceans 8 more times than is probably healthy bc Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway were part of my gay awakening

I really liked The Greatest Showman when it came out and I'll put it on in the background while I work because I like the music

I haven't watched it super recently but despite not really liking the MCU post-AoU, I will watch Black Panther if given the slightest opportunity

I watch Prince of Egypt pretty often and I wanted to watch it during Passover but grad school got busy O.o

5 book series I used to read a lot:

The Princess Diaries (I read all but the last book bc my library didn't have it v_v) and honestly anything by Meg Cabot that I could get my hands on

The Disney Fairies books (I hecking loved those books okay they were great the movies did not do them justice)

Percy Jackson and the Olympians/The Heroes of Olympus (loved these books, kind of want to reread them)

The Gaslight Mysteries series by Victoria Thompson (I'll be honest these were NOT age appropriate for when I read them I was like eight but my grandma read them and liked them and would let me read them after she'd finished them and we would have fun talking about who I thought had committed the crime or whatever)

The Nancy Drew books (I never managed a full collection, but I do have a first edition of The Spider Sapphire Mystery that I got for $2 at an antique store once) I used to buy one every time I went to visit my stepdad's family because they had two Barnes & Noble stores and we would always stop by one and I would save up for this monthly trip so I could buy another Nancy Drew book and then when I finished it, my grandpa would read it.

5 book series I read now:

Does it count as a series if there are only two books? The last novels I read were The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments by Margaret Atwood.

Trying to get my hands on the rest of the Persona 5 manga, I have the first two volumes and I want to collect the rest.

I will reread the Uglies books by Scott Westerfeld a million times those are amazing books I love them.

I got back into Fruits Basket because the sequel series came out and I picked up the first volume on a whim. I should finish that.

god I need to read more books that aren't for school um... I've actually been meaning to reread The Hunger Games now that I'm older because I last read those books in middle school and I feel like I missed a lot.

1) If you could bring any two fictional characters (from books or film/tv) into the same world who would they be, what world would you put them in, and what would their relationship to each other be?

Hmm, this is an interesting question. I’d probably put Sam and Dean from Supernatural into True Blood. Real monsters... They would still be brothers because why not? But I’d like them to try and figure out the whole TB universe. 

2) If you could drop yourself into any fictional world from books or film/tv, which would it be?

I’d go with The Tudors. Historical but mildly inaccurate and I’m not gonna lie, I’d love to wear those dresses and jewels. Probably The Witcher as well. 

3) What’s your spirit animal?

Ummm, animal would probably be a american husky. (I, too, shed like crazy and am extremely sassy) But I usually say Louise Belcher (Bob’s Burgers) and Karen Walker (Will & Grace) are both my spirit animals lol 

4) What is the most unpopular opinion you hold?

HAHAHAHA NO. Nope. This is a trap.... I don’t like a lot of the people most of the people I follow thirst over. Some of it... idk man. But this is also coming from someone who fucking absolutely loves a fucking lanky ginger weirdo. 

5) How do you like to style your hair most often?

Ponytail. 90% of the time in a messy knot with or without a clip in the front for a little bump thing. It’s my go to.

6) I always love this overdone question - you’re allowed three books on a desert island, what do you bring? (Note: Survival Guides don’t count).

The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice (I own the book that has the first three in one! Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned), Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, and  Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks. 

7) Something new you’ve learned in quarantine/lockdown/corona times?

I can in fact play video games... and I’m teaching myself how to properly use a sewing machine. 

8) Favorite alcohol? (Or non-alcoholic beverage if you don’t drink!)

Depends on my mood. Right now I absolutely love Pink Whitney (pink lemonade vodka) with lemonade or sprite. I also fell in love with Crown Royal Apple with triple sec and cranberry juice. I also love a good beer. I currently have Fat Tire and Brooklyn Brewery Summer Ale in the fridge... also lime Truly. 

9) Music you can’t stand? Music you love?

Honestly there isn’t much I “can’t stand” ... I just would prefer something else? I dislike K-POP. I don’t fucking get it. (there’s an unpopular opinion for you). I LOVE EVERYTHING... I have eclectic taste. Country one minute... to Prog Metal to Pop.... fuck I’ll throw on Classical too or like 50s era stuff. Depends on my mood. 

10) Have a favorite herb?

How is this a question?! Rosemary, thyme, basil are all my go to of choice when cooking. I have sage on hand for other reasons... I own so many fucking spices it’s ridiculous. I’m fucking Italian for Christ sake... if your food doesn’t have at least 3 seasonal items are you even cooking?!  

11) What kinds of cups/glasses/bottles do you prefer to drink out of?

I have an obsession with cold cups. You know ones with lids and straws. I own about 230948320958324 starbucks ones. Also if it has a mermaid and/or sparkles? I’ll fucking buy it. I also love pint glasses and very rarely pay for them thanks to the bar my family frequents. 

12) Preferred mode of communication: texts, phone calls, emails, letters?

Text. Don’t call me unless this is gonna take a while to explain. I do enjoy snail mail though. 

13) What is your favorite weather?

I love a warm, dry (humid free!) daytime. Something where you are super comfortable with a t-shirt and jeans (or shorts if you feel the need) but then it gets super crisp at night where a fire outside is required with a sweatshirt. Fall is usually my favorite time of year, but summer down the shore where I can sit on the beach during the day and hang out in the yard at night is a favorite. 

14) What kind of lighting do you like?

I enjoy a softer light? Lamps, wire lights (christmas lights), candles. I have wire lights all year long in my house around my window and in my windows (I keep it decorated all year long) 

15) What is the best thing you cook?

Everything. I’ve had no complaints. LOL the big winners are my sriracha potato salad, Caprese chicken pasta, roasted/grilled mixed vegetables.... there’s a lot. 

16)  Do you have a favorite font to write in?

Can’t say I have a favorite. It’s been a while. I like scroll fonts really, or anything kinda of deconstructed? 

17) What is something you’ve always wanted to write in a fic, but you’ve been too afraid to? Or, what is something that you were afraid to write, but then you did and it ended awesome?

I have a lot of stuff that comes across my mind that I love fucking love to write but then don’t for reasons... But I always get scared to write smut because nothing pisses me off more than when someone writes it and it’s not fucking possible. Like it’s not exactly realistic.... IDK lol 

18) If you were in your favorite fantasy world, what would your weapon of choice be?

Weapon???? Probably some sort of knife/sword. I used to be decent with a bow but yeah that was forever ago. Maybe be decent with like poison. The gratification of watching someone slowly suffer is fun. LOL 

19) Is there a commonly used expression/saying that you can’t stand?

(I feel you K, your answer was spot on). Shit like “It’s in God’s hands...” etc. NAH SORRY. You can fix things for yourself or that person who caused the problem could have NOT fucking been dumb. Also it’s always fun to return my co-workers’ “Not today Satan” or “y’all are going to hell” with “No, it’s ok I welcome it.”

20) What is something that you would like people to know about you?

I am pretty much a sarcastic asshole in real life... but I will go out of my way to help someone or teach them. Especially my patients, I will go that extra mile to help them with things (insurances especially) to make sure they get it and not let anyone take advantage of them. Also my co-workers if they can’t fight for themselves with owners. I try to be as fair as I can as a manager. If I wasn’t in the job I was in, I most likely would have been a teacher but I absolutely hate kids I don’t know, unless it’s a baby. Babies are cool with me, but other kids that have no relation to me (family, friends) I absolutely can’t fucking stand them.

1. If you could fuse any three animals together what species would you use and what would it look like? Well, a chimera fused with a bat, a slug, and a guinea pig. I don’t know how it’s gonna look, just know it’s a chimera (put it out of its misery. Quick!)

2. You are given the choice to either transfer your mind into a robotic body or to improve your body through genetic mutation into a monstrous form. So basically would you rather be a cyborg or a monster? Hard choice, but I’m kinda leaning towards monster. HOWEVER, this monster is no monster, this monster just have heat and cold resistance, and speed boost (gotta. Go. fest)

3. Your given the opportunity to leave Earth to explore the universe with a human and alien crew, but there is a chance you can never come back. Would you go? Go on an adventure one ever dreamed of, or stay with friends and family? Tough question, to be honest. ( idk know what to choose ;o;) If I could keep in contact somehow with my people, then yeah, I’m down for the adventure!

4. What fictional food would you want to eat? Monster cake from Breath of the Wild. It looks good, and the description for it is… experimental-worthy (plus, a high chance of eating a glass shard? MMMMmmm, so good lmao xp)

6. What Villainous Pokemon Team would you join and why? I refikin LOVE Team Galactic! Gen 4 was my first Pokemon game, and when I encountered Team Galactic, and seen what they’re doing, man! 

7. What do you look for in a person? I could say loyalty, honesty, jolliness, but mainly reasonable/smart! We’re slowly loosing that common sense intelligence, and I don’t know if I would want someone who still has that, at least.

9. what is your favorite prehistoric creature? Brachiosaurus. They are sooooooo cute, and it’s not because of Land Before Time >.>)

(I’m not into Monster Hunter yet, but I do recall some names pinch-o-mad told me :0) Well, there’s Epona, since the Monsterpedia don’t know what an actual horse is (I can cheat with that one ;p). Then there’s the deviljho, because it sounds dangerous and cool. And a kirin, since it looks beautiful and majestic!

11. I can’t think of anything else so what super power do you want? I would definitely go with elemental bending! Who wouldn’t want that? You can walk on water, surf mid air, conjure Divine Darude Sandstorms (I am a mess; I couldn’t resist X’D), and move fire to my will. I always wanted to master the elements, mess around, and experiment with it; ways to be beneficial. Think of all the training I’ll have to do though. That’ll be impressive to top it all!

Beneath the Mask by Shoji Meguro. Persona 5′s soundtrack is A+ and I wish this song was constantly playing in the background of my life.

Una Para Todo Es Bandido by Gypsy Pistolero. Wet was unfortunately not great, but I really, really dug the soundtrack. This might be my favorite song off it.

The Crash Bandicoot 2 theme. The Crash Collection came out and I was reminded how much I loved the soundtrack. It’s great.

Lookin Fresh (Cuttlefish Remix) by  Toru Minegishi. Splatoon 2 has an overall great soundtrack but I really dig this song.

Bubble by  Shonan no Kaze. It’s a damn shame this song wasn’t in the English release of Yakuza 0.

Banjiya Blues by Kamagata Eiichi. Gintama’s got plenty of great songs (strong second goes to Madao, which someone who worked on DMC4 is a big fan of). Probably my favorite of the show.

A Walk in the Woods by Martin O'Donnell, Michael Salvatori and Tom Salta. The soundtrack for all the Bungie Halo games are top tier (especially ODST) but I still regularly come back to this song. All of it’s incarnations are great.

Don’t Worry by Hiroyuki Sawano. It’s a damn shame Xenoblade Chronicles X is confined to the Wii U. More people need to play this game and experience it’s wonderful soundtrack. This song especially. The first time it plays... perfection. Also shout outs to  Wir Fliegen and Uncontrollable. Switch port please.

Into the Wild by Miracle of Sound. Love the song and love the game. Dude makes great music about games/movies and some original stuff too. Usually his latest I listen to.. many times. Also a buddy of mine :)

End of Yorha by Keiichi Okabe and MONACA. This fucking song man. Just... it’s not the song itself, though it is A++, it’s how it’s used. One of the best moments in a game ever. Automata’s soundtrack is wall-to-wall winners too, any song on that thing could be my favorite. But after a while I’ve settled on a few I listen to almost every day. There’s this one, Possessed by Disease, A Beautiful Song, Birth of a Wish, Amusement Park and I should probably stop now or else I’ll just end up listing the entire damn soundtrack. I cannot emphasize enough how much I love it. But it’s great. Fantastic soundtrack for a Fantastic game.

Yes I cheated on the last one but screw it. And... I just realize it’s mostly video games. Oops. Oh well.

I've recently stumbled across the word "otherkin" and it seems to describe certain feelings I have, but the tumblr tags seem to be full of unuseful information and, well, silliness. I'm sort of looking for people to talk to while I try to sort myself out, without making too much light of it. Do you have any advice on sifting through everything?

Besides going ‘AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA’ and never doing anything about it?

First things first. You’re new, so we’re going to divide this into two parts. Part one, crash course on otherkinity, alterhumanity, and the little branches of it you should know about. Those words and terms will help you figure out what’s what. Part two is great, you know all these terms, how do you sort through the mess that is kinfeels. 

Under a readmore because long, since I ramble sometimes. I’m glad you asked, and if you have any further questions, hit me up again and I’ll do what I can.

Part One: What Even Is Otherkinity

Otherkinity is identifying involuntarily and nonphysically as something nonhuman. You aren’t saying you are physically this thing (as you are physically human), you cannot choose to be this thing and can’t choose not to be this thing, and you do not identify as human 100%. 

The modifiers: Fictionkin means you can be something that is human, but it must be fictional (like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson or smth). You can be a member of a fictional species that isn’t human (like the Elf Queen’s Daughters of the early 70s that started the fictionkin community). It is still involuntary and nonphysical.

Otherkinity is divided into three ‘main’ branches: therianthropy, otherkinity, and fictionkind. Therians (or therianthropes) ID as an animal that has been or is on Earth. Like dinosaurs or foxes. There are an absurd amount of wolf therians here on tumblr. Those that are obviously faking or haven’t questioned enough for even themselves and just went with ‘wolf’ because it’s cool are called wolfaboos. Usually I just don’t talk to them, since to each their own and they’re not actively being annoying, but please don’t just “oh I’m not human clearly I’m a wolf” the moment you get kinfeels. Things don’t... work... like that...

Anyway. Otherkinity as a sublabel of itself generally has within it our conceptkin (I’m calling it that for now. Things like voidkin or starkin), theriomythics (fantasy animals within mythology such as unicorns and youkai), draconics (draconity, which is dragons and pretty self explanatory), the vampire and were____ communities, and probably a few others.

Fictionkind I already went over. I have three kintypes that are fictionkind in nature. They are called fictotypes for this reason. (Kintypes is the label for all of them, but there is also theriotypes and fictotypes for therianthropy and fictionkind.)

Those fictotypes are Pale Noël from the Evillious Chronicles, a noncanon Devil from DSP’s works, and an Absol from Pokemon. As I have more than two kintypes, I am in what we call ‘polykin hell’. Though tbh, most people put themselves in polykin hell when they’re up past five. Poor guys.

The things that are close to otherkinity but not actually it!

Copinglinkers- They ID as something voluntarily to cope with something. Usually trauma or mental illness. While not otherkin, they are alterhuman and do belong in our community. They are also called copingkin, which is a bit outdated but since copinglink is a new term, I’ll let it slide. (It was coined by @who-is-page, actually, and they are a delight to follow if you want to see antikin absolutely dragged through the mud.)

Otherhearted- Those who identify not as something but with it. As an example, I am faehearted and shadowhearted. I identify with those things because one of my fictotypes did, and that carried over. It is very easy to mistake heartfeels for kinfeels. Regardless, like c’linkers and ‘kin they are alterhuman and totally rad.

Synpaths- Tbh I’m not quite sure what’s the difference between synpaths and ‘hearted. (I have heard it is ‘ID with this’ versus ‘I want to hug that’ but you should not be asking me; as I don’t have a fuckin’ clue.) Either way, if you think you have a synpath go research that. Please don’t ask me, I don’t know. All I know is that they exist and they do stuff, so they’re worth mentioning.

There are also ways to be otherkin, for lack of a better term. Ways you explain why you identify as these things. There are two main ‘branches’ to this: spiritual and psychological. There are also religious, cultural, and probably a few other reasons, but let’s go with the ones off the top of my head.

Spiritual- Can be anything from ‘my soul is this and my body is not’ to ‘I was this in a past life, and it is still relevant’. (You can have past lives that aren’t kintypes. The difference is simply how much they affect you. I do believe I had a life a fuckass long time ago in second age Senntisten, but as it isn’t relevant outside of vague memories of fire, it isn’t a fictotype of mine.)

Psychological- Anything from ‘I used this as a c’link at one point but it is now irreversible, and I am this now’ to ‘My brain decided to be wired weird and now I ID as this’. Essentially, you have a psychological reasoning for being kin or hearted or whatev. Psychological otherkin get thrown under the bus a lot because really angry copinglinks insist they’re kin and we’re “gatekeeping ableist jerks”. The difference is that c’links choose and can drop their identity. Psychological otherkin cannot. The line can be pretty blurred, and in that case you’d best just slap down “I am this, currently questioning if c’link or kintype”. Literally nobody can yell at you for that. I’ve had to do it before. Never did figure out what it was, but it doesn’t matter now.

Religious- I don’t see this one as often, but I think it’s something along the lines of ‘my God wants me to feel like I’m this for X reason’? Or maybe it’s a past life thing that your religious says you have. (I think Buddhism does that, but I am no religious scholar and I might be wrong.) 

Cultural- I’ve seen this mostly in Native American folks, but I’m sure they’re not the only ones. What I have seen is ‘my family have always been crows, so I am a crow therian’. I don’t know much about Native cultures, despite having grown up around them, so I suppose if you had cultural reasons, you’d already know? I do believe spirit animals play into this, but I’m what we call ‘exotic white bread’ and I am not the authority. But I also don’t know who to redirect you to about this. Hm. I’m gonna have to go asking around.

And of course, to finish off part one: multiplicity. That’s a fun one.

Multiple systems aren’t kin. Not hearted either or anything. They’re the other ‘main branch’ of being alterhuman. They are usually several people trying to pilot one body. They use terms like fictive, which is not fictionkin(d), though the two get confused an awful lot. A fictionkind person is someone who IDs as someone or something fictional. A fictive is a part of a multiple system who IS that person, with usually no other identity. 

Using myself as an example: I am fictionkind, and one of my fictotypes has green hair. I do not have green hair right now, and that fictotype is not my entire identity. A fictive is more like “hi I’m Harry Potter and I live here now, in your body, with you”. That would be his entire identity: he is Harry Potter.

Factives are close to that, but real people that do or have existed on Earth. That’s like “hi I’m Shakespeare and I live here now”. It’s possible to have system members that are neither. That’s chill.

Supposedly, multiple systems can be both trauma-born and not-trauma-born. The latter is usually called endogenic, I think. DID/OSDD are two disorders that cause multiplicity, but as far as I know they are not the only ways to have multiplicity. You can soulbond and things, which is like the copinglink for multiplicity as in you bring someone in voluntarily. (Tulpas are also a multiplicity thing.)

Part Two: How Do I Deal With Maybe Being Otherkin Without Just Screaming Into The Void

First things first. My way is not the only way to do it. It is one method, but it tends to work for lots of people so here’s the method I know. It’s chill to ask around and figure out what others do, and then find the method that works for you.

Second things second. Do not ask a pendulum or divination blog to kinfirm something. It is a terrible method. You can divine yourself, but do not ask anyone online. Nobody’s divination is always right, and when you’re doing it online, the chance of being right drops exponentially. Bad method, 0/10 do not recommend. (You can totally divine for yourself, though. My tarot deck is particularly sassy about my own god complex from kinfeels.)

And the actual method.

1. Go create a sideblog. Name it whatever, find a nice theme you like. Make sure it is readable and not just pretty.

2. Make a tags page. I suggest doing this over a couple of days, because you are going to forget what tags you need. You want to sort between ‘angry vagueing about nothing making sense’ from ‘feels related to this’.

3. Document EVERYTHING EVER. If you think it is kin related, write that down. If you have vague memories of something, write that down too. Tag it appropriately, if only so you can find it later. (’tag later’ is a good tag if you’re on the go and know you’ll forget if you don’t write it down now.)

What I also do is fill this blog specifically with images that resonate with me. I use a queue and tagging system for this. (White blossoms is the tag for gentle TLW things; whereas black blossoms is General Edge(TM).) You should put images that resonate with you in a Particularly Kin Way on that blog. If it’s art or anything, remember to source it, though. Reblog, don’t repost. 

Also, if you’re into requesting things from kin blogs like stimboards or aesthetics, have a reqs tag for them! Keeps it all in one place and you know where you got them from. I like JUST put in mine and I am angry I didn’t do it before.

Then, self introspection. You need to ask why on everything ever. Question things. Do you do insertthinghere because your parents said so, or does it seem like you just have to? 

If questioning feels very upsetting or uncomfortable, stop for the day. I don’t recommend any more than an hour and half in one go. Your brain will confirm things that aren’t true in order to work with you. (Confirmation bias, I think it’s called.) Keep the questioning to short bursts, even if you’re on a roll.

If you must go longer, document document DOCUMENT. Writing things down makes them clearer, and halfway through writing you’ll go “oh shit that’s why that happens”.

It’s okay if your writing is messy or only makes sense to you. This is all your own, and how you go about it is entirely your decision. 

Questioning should take you weeks or months. There are a few outliers who can kinfirm something in two days and be right, but let’s be honest here: nobody likes them because we all envy them and want to be them, so we don’t like them. All jokes aside, keep it to a pace you can handle and don’t bite off more than you can chew.

Got all that? Good. Now do a shit ton of research. If you’re questioning, say, harpykin, chase links across Wikipedia and read everything you can get your hands on about harpies. You might come across something else that’s close to it: off the top of my head, the Maximum Ride series, for example, is close-ish to harpies. Check that out too, but if it doesn’t resonate, don’t push it. If it ain’t a thing and you know it isn’t, don’t bother with it, it’ll get you nowhere.

Ask around! Don’t be afraid to ask someone “hey do you think this could happen?” Nobody’s input is the end all be all, but if they’re someone you think is educated on the matter, take it into consideration. (You would not believe how much of an idiot I felt like while doing research on demonology and a friend pointed out that Christianity is not the only religion with demons. It’s obvious, but never occurred to me. You will get that feeling at some point. Happens to the best of us.)

Lastly, go at your own pace. And if you have done all of this, it will be several months from now. Go back and look at your oldest kin documents. You will understand it all so much better, and you’ll mentally high-five your past self for knowing so little, but being so full of hope anyway.

Of course, if after all of this someone tries to invalidate you, it won’t work. You’ll have done the research, the self introspection, the grueling grind of “why why why?”. They can’t tell you the sky is red if you’re not colourblind. If they try to grill you for your information, you can point them nicely towards your probably-a-trainwreck of a sideblog and they will see your documented adventure of ‘what am I?’. And then they will stop talking, because you have proven that you know what’s up.

And as the very last piece of advice? You will be wrong. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You can be questioning. You can say “I don’t fucking know!!”. You are allowed to have bumps and wrong turns in your journey. They will happen. It’s okay. Take a deep breath, see where you might have made a mistake, write that down, and keep going. Progress is progress. You’ll figure it out eventually, no need to know it all right this very minute.

I hope this helps, little anon! This is how I came to find out I was- and I’m not done yet, either. I have some oceanic kinfeels that I know exist but don’t know what they are: fuckers better show themselves to me soon because I’m onto them. Who knows where that adventure will take me.

McKirk Chronicles; Day 0 - Enterprise; Pt. 3/3

Jim approached him by the bar after making a few more social calls.  The chronometers had hit midnight and almost everyone avoided the fury that was called McCoy like the plague. 

Leonard eyed him warily as Jim took a seat by his side while asking if he truly was fine. Leonard found himself nodding and appreciating his worry over him. He showed his contentment by pushing a second glass of bourbon Jim's way, clinking their glasses once he picked it up. The burn of the smooth drink went down readily and he wasted no time, loosening the front of his shirt. Damn the party, he was feeling too exposed to care about proprieties.

"Easy there, Bones" Jim smiled, nursing his bourbon as Leonard requested a refill, "Sorry, it took me some time to reach you. Some of these bunch can't hold their liquor and boy, do they get handsy when drunk!"

"You too, ha?"

"Yeah, I don't know who but someone grabbed my ass earlier. It's like when sober they are Vulcan and when drunk they turn into us. That's a scary combination!"

"I was just thinking about that," Leonard laughed, bumping his shoulder into Jim's, "before Mr. whats-his-name distracted me."

They sighed in unison and sipped their drinks. The noise behind them quieted down as the guests and the remaining dignitaries were ushered out of the room and towards the transporters. Some of the ensigns and other officers bid them good night before disappearing behind the doors in fear of being appointed to help out with the cleaning. With the mess that the room had become, Leonard pitied the souls on the cleaning roaster.

"Tonight has been tiring and trying. These people are a lot more difficult to deal with than I imagined." Jim admitted while pouring himself a green colored beverage. He offered some to Leonard who politely declined and reached for his trusty old bourbon bottle.

"I'll say. One more crying ensign and I was gonna start throwing punches around, if Spock didn't Vulcan pinch them into the void that is..."

"God, is this how it is when Vulcans deal with us? I feel sorry for them. Our first contact must have been a nightmare!"

"Nightmare? Those green blooded goblins should be grateful it was us that they met first and not these weird bunch. At least, we know how to deal with them to a degree and we can hold our liquor."

"Easy there on the diplomatic tones, Bones. You might end up sounding too welcoming" Jim pushed at his shoulder with his own. There was no heat at his words but a mild warning. Leonard looked around to see if he offended anyone but no one was left in the room to call him out on his diplomatic tones. He relaxed into his seat.

"Nevertheless, you did well on the negotiations of the peace conference. Let's hope no one gets murdered by tomorrow. I now I was about to commit homicide out of anger had it not been for the room full of witnesses."

"The night would have turned for the better"

"Don't tempt me, Captain. I've this boyfriend who has a penchant for breaking the law and he thought me the values of considering rules and regulation as merely guidelines."

"What an asshole thing to do. You should dump him." Jim smirked into his glass as Leonard snorted.

"He is too adorable and pretty to dump. It hurts me to see his heart broken."

"Well," Jim said as he left his empty glass on the counter, "Then, you've no chance but to stick with him 'till the end of your life." Leonard regarded the unguarded expression of vulnerability Jim showed. He served him another glass of bourbon, something that would take the edge of insecurity that Jim was feeling. After putting the bottle away, he grasped Jim's hand that wasn't holding his glass, circled another hand around his shoulders and pressed his nose into his neck. He enveloped him so completely that Jim's uncertainties melted into a drunken but happy smile.

"That goes both ways, Jimmy boy. You better stick with me, too"

"Always, Bones. Always."

Leonard detached himself from Jim just enough to grab his glass and sipped it while Jim remained close. A comfortable air of silence settled in as they enjoyed their drinks.

"We have to do this for another 6 months before our 5-year mission is concluded. To think that we are almost done... It sounds so unreal" Leonard said and broke the silence.

"Yeah" Jim nodded, playing with his glass, his attention shifted and thoughts focused on matters from long ago, "Do you remember the day we met on the shuttle? It feels so long ago!"

"It does. You were a brash, mouthy brat who had his ass handed to him the night before. You still had blood on your shirt. It was incredible that you still managed to breathe normally after the beating you took. I half expected to perform CPR on you before we reached San Francisco."

"I am not sure if they would have let you. You were drunk off your ass!"

"The hell they wouldn't! Amongst you and the other red suited brats, I was still the most experienced one. None of you had even seen a dead body, yet."

Jim grimaced, "Sad, it soon changed and changed for the worst"

Leonard shifted. He leaned his forehead against Jim's and their hands interlaced above the counter; small gestures that spoke volumes and brought comfort to them both, "Hey, we made it, darlin'. It went bad for a long while, true. It was difficult and harsh but we survived and the Enterprise keeps roaring through the space stronger than ever."

"We got the best crew in the entire federation. There was never any question of failure. Not with us onboard. The next generation to follow up is going to have big shoes to fill and an impossibly high bar that we set."

Leonard's thumb caressed the soft spot of Jim's palm, almost as if readying him for the question that was coming, "Are you ready to leave the Enterprise to strangers?"

"Hell, no!" Jim burst out, "They are going to claw out my butt from the Captain's chair if they want me to give up the seat!" Leonard's laugh echoed in the room. In the absence of all attendees and personnel, it sounded louder than it could have before. He didn't care for it. He leaned in to give Jim a drawn out kiss, meant to convey his adoration, love and trust in him. He tasted the bourbon and felt the smile of appreciation. As Jim parted his lips and welcomed him, Leonard was glad that the room was theirs, as was the night.

Favourite Fictional Character: I was such a big fan of anime back then and I remember that my most favorite was Sakura and Syaoran of Cardcaptor Sakura. I’ve literally watched all episodes of it because of how much of a fan I am. And then Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles came out and I really couldn’t bring myself to love them the way I used to with CCS but it’s cool~ I miss watching animes but I’m such a Korean drama fan now that I just haven’t been able to... Ugh! As for Korean dramas my fave is Dr. Kang Mo Yeon of Descendants of the sun! She’s actually the reason why I’m pursuing with my BIO career but I plan on being a pharmacologist instead of going through pre-med/becoming a surgeon... Although I don’t really know... I’m still undecided I’m working on my associates then hopefully on my bachelors soon then Ph.D later on!!! :)

Number of blankets: One and only... Keeps me warm on cold nights as well as keep me cuddled on warm nights. IDK but it’s always been just 1 no matter the weather. 

Favourite singer/band : BTS FORSURES! not being biased but Tae kills me with his voice! I wish he would do a cover  of “Say you won’t let go” and I’d be soaking... ehem... I mean choking... ehem I mean idk I’d probably be dead...

Dream trip: Picture it Sicily 19forgotten! lol I have so much things with school right now and work that I haven’t really planned on vacation... but lately I kind of wanna go to Paris, France with my imaginary Tae as my BF and we’d go shopping and touring and kissing under the Eiffel Tower *blushes* I can’t~ OMG! *wheezes* TMI! *faints*

Ebooks or Physical Books?

Hmmm, let’s see toe-may-toe or toe-maa-toe? Po-tay-toe or Po-taa-toe? What’s the difference?

You still get a juicy read in the end and it doesn’t matter the format. If I HAD to choose I’d say ebooks for convenience although I love everything about physical books even the smell.

  Fact: Approx.95% of the time I’m high on books.

  Paperback or hardback?

Hardbacks are the best because you know when the book gets too much I’m gonna be throwing it at walls and slamming it on desks. My books need to be tough to survive.

When it becomes too much.

Heroes or Villains?

Villains honestly make a book, where would the heroes be without villains? They’d be running around with swords or something like mad men. Villains for sure.

We all secretly love them.

Online or in-store book shopping?

Oh wow, these questions are just getting harder. I’d say in store because the wait for the book to arrive is endlesss. Honestly I wish I could speed up time. That would be a great super power.

Trilogies or series?

Potatoe, Tomato. They are all great! Although MORE is always great, LESS can be MORE and MORE can be less…. Wait, what was the question?
