Chapter 2 (this is a fluff fic - and Ruhn is babysitting Nesta in chapter 3)
The thrill of a day off with no commitments fell flat when Hunt spent most of his night worrying that he’d find a blonde female floating in the Istros – if the sobeks hadn’t eaten her first. When it was socially acceptable to be out, he was already flying the short distance to the hotel that Ruhn Danaan had paid for to check on her.
His knuckles felt too heavy on the door as he knocked.
After the day Nesta had, he’d not blame her if she was still asleep.
The door was pulled back and she stood perfectly put together with no traces of sleep remaining. Her gorgeous burnished-gold hair was pinned up, hiding her ears. Hunt looked twice at her clothes – his clothes. They hung loose on her frame, but there was no missing the generous breasts that the material clung to. Midgard suited her.
‘Oh, good. You’re here.’
Well, it made a change for somebody to look forward to the Umbra Mortis arriving at their door even if her tone didn’t imply that.
‘I’ve made a list of things I don’t understand. This for instance,’ she said, switching the light on and off. ‘How have you harnessed faelights into that glass orb?’
‘A lightbulb. It’s firstlight.’
Her mouth twisted. ‘Another thing for the list.’
‘When you make the Drop, you give part of your firstlight to the city. That’s how we power everything,’ he explained. ‘You don’t make the Drop?’
‘The only drop I know is a short drop from the gallows, so no, Hunt.’
A piece of paper with neatly-written notes covering it was thrust into his face while she beckoned him into the room. Nesta had cracked open the windows, pulled the sheets tight over the bed and her leathers were folded onto the chair.
‘I didn’t think to bring you fresh clothes today.’
Nesta shrugged a shoulder. ‘I’ve only just put these on.’
‘Did you sleep naked?’ The question shot out of his mouth before he could trap it.
She scowled, cheeks going pink. ‘I’m not answering that.’
That would be a yes.
When Nesta turned through the room, giving it a once-over, Hunt glimpsed a flash of black on her back through the slits of his top. A tattoo maybe. As she moved, it became evident to him that Nesta wore no bra. Hunt’s traitorous eyes kept gravitating towards the bounce of her breasts until he forced himself to give his undivided attention to the list.
‘Hey, let’s get you some clothes for the next few days plus breakfast and I’ll answer these questions.’
‘Fine,’ she replied.
‘And you have to answer some of my questions.’
‘Some of them.’
Lunathion began to wake with the commuters filling the paths. Those with wings flitted overhead to avoid the rush. Nesta had no concept of road safety; Hunt may as well have been walking alongside a toddler. Twice, she’d stepped into the road to clear space on the path without even looking. He’d had to haul her against him before a scooter mowed her down.
‘I can’t tell if people are staring at me or you,’ she said as a leopard shifted gasped and pulled out their cell to snap a photo of him.
‘Me,’ he replied flatly. ‘I’m the Um-’
Hunt cut himself off. Nesta did not know who he was. What he’d done. What he still did. For once, he could just be Hunt.
‘The Um?’ She teased. ‘Did you forget your name?’
‘I’m known in Lunathion for my work in the 33rd.’ He lay a hand on her shoulder, guiding Nesta across the road at a crossing towards a lingerie boutique – the kind of place the Umbra Mortis had never been caught dead in.
Everything was red. And velvet. With posters of females in push-up bras with the tagline “something extra special” or “for him”.
Nesta was just as bemused as he was. ‘Is this some kind of pleasure hall?’
‘Like a brothel? You have those in your world?’
Colour rose in her cheeks again – and damn if it wasn’t the prettiest thing.
‘I don’t frequent them.’
One of the workers, a deer shifter by the scent, offered a polite smile. ‘Do you need help?’
‘Uh,’ said Hunt, jerking his thumb towards Nesta. ‘She needs a bra.’
‘What’s a bra?’
Luna, help him.
The worker smiled again. ‘Do you know what size you are?’
‘All my clothes are tailormade,’ she replied.
‘I can do a fitting. This way.’
Nesta stared at him over her shoulder as she followed the female towards the fitting rooms. He tried not to pay much attention to the abundance of lace and satin and tassels. And definitely tried to steer his thoughts away from imagining that drop-dead gorgeous female wearing them.
After a while, the worker returned to the counter. Nesta popped her head out of the curtain.
‘Hunt,’ she hissed. ‘Hunt Athalar.’
Hunt shrugged at her.
‘Help me.’
Her bare back was offered at the gap in the heavy, velvet curtains. An eight-pointed star was tattooed in black ink across her spine. Did she have more?
‘How am I supposed to put this contraption on?’
Hunt reached for each end to pull them together. ‘My experience is usually in taking them off, not doing them up.’
‘I don’t wish to know about your conquests.’
The moment it was clasped, Nesta leapt away, drawing the curtain closed too – then her face emerged once more. ‘I presume you are paying to clothe me?’
‘I guess so,’ he grumbled.
He could always bill Ruhn Danaan and the bank of daddy.
‘Hunt?’
‘Nesta.’
‘I need underwear.’
For the blush that came again, Hunt would buy her whatever underwear she wanted. He held up a few across the store, her face growing redder each time. When he asked her if she was commando beneath his sweat pants, a confused look crossed her face.
‘Bareback,’ he clarified.
Nesta snatched the underwear – a black, lacy thong – from his hand and muttered something about males in every world being insufferable.
***
This city was vibrant and diverse in a way that Velaris wasn’t. Even if Hunt grew fed up of her pausing to admire their technology, he still let her grow roots on the spot so she could wonder how something worked before inevitably explaining it in a way she could understand. Every citizen was required to donate a portion of their magic to the city to ensure it continued working. It was a tithe of sorts.
It was difficult not to stare at the Vanir, as Hunt had called them, as they walked through the sunlit streets. Velaris had high fae. Other places she had visited had lesser fae. Here, Nesta saw people who could change at will into a variety of animals. Some, Hunt explained, were wolves and she was warned to steer clear of a Sabine and a Danika who patrolled the streets. Hunt’s species enforced the law set by the Asteri.
‘Supreme rulers whose word is law,’ he said.
Nesta snorted at that. ‘I’ve got one in my world. His name is Rhysand.’
‘He’s your king?’
‘Oh, he wishes. No. My sister’s mate. And a pain in my ass.’ Since this malakh had been so helpful in finding her underwear that constantly needed plucking from her backside, Nesta explained, ‘We have no kings. The land in which I live is divided into seven courts and each is ruled by a High Lord. Rhysand is the High Lord of the Night Court. Feyre is the High Lady.’
‘So, you’re fae royalty?’
‘Ha ha ha,’ she said, the sarcasm thick in her voice. ‘No. I am a problem. Nothing more.’
They took their drinks – black coffee for him and camomile tea for her – to a bench beside a park where children were running freely across the grass, throwing balls or playing games. There was such a freedom to Lunathion with species mixing readily.
‘How did you wind up here – off the record?’
‘We have a Prison for foul creatures from nightmares. I was searching for an object and found the Harp. It trapped me. The damn thing promised to let me out if I plucked a string then I was falling.’ Nesta ran a finger around the rim of the cup. ‘They have no idea what happened to me.’
And she doubted that they’d care either. The loss of the Harp would be their biggest gripe.
‘Ruhn Danaan has paid for that hotel for a week, so once Vik’s ran her tests, you can drift back off into the stars.’
Nesta smiled at that. ‘I could end up somewhere completely different.’
‘Like Hel.’
The angel explained that they knew of another world – one named Hel – where cruel princes ruled and demons leaked through into Midgard. It was his responsibility to identify them and track them down.
‘Which came first, the name or the profession?’
Hunt gave a wry grin. ‘Everybody calls me it. My mother named me Orion.’
‘Orion,’ she repeated. ‘I like it. Does your mother live in the city?’
His face fractured slightly then he extended a hand to her, signalling that they were to walk. ‘No. She’s not alive anymore.’
‘Oh. I’m sorry.’
‘Do you have other family or just a high lady sister?’
‘Two sisters. My mother died when I was young and my father died in the war.’
‘The war,’ he repeated. ‘When was it?’
It felt like an eternity and no time at all.
‘Just over a year ago.’
Hunt’s brows rose. ‘You fought in it?’
Not by choice, Nesta thought. Because the Cauldon cursed me with magic that made me into a weapon.
‘Yes. The king of Hybern used my father as a shield then killed him. My sister, Elain, stabbed the king.’
‘She killed him?’
‘No.’ But if it hadn’t been for Elain subduing him, Nesta and Cassian would both be dead. ‘I decapitated him.’
At that, Hunt grinned. ‘Bloodthirsty. What does your tattoo mean?’
Nesta blew out a long breath. She’d only seen snippets of it in the mirror at odd angles with her chin tucked onto her shoulder. ‘I wasn’t in a good place so my sister staged an intervention. Cassian – a friend – made a deal that if I trained then he’d give me a favour.’
‘That tattoo is magic?’
‘Yes,’ she confirmed. ‘Is yours?’
The urge to brush her fingers across the halo on his forehead was difficult to suppress. At the mention of it, Hunt touched it and winced.
‘It’s a slave brand. Witch ink.’ He lifted his hand to show her the letters stamped on his wrist. ‘The Asteri’s mark. I belong to them and Micah – an archangel.’
The words hung in the air between them turning the summer’s day cold. Hunt Athalar was a slave which explained why he spent his day off with her rather than friends or family. He had nobody else.
They walked alongside the river, the Istros, in silence.
‘If you want to be free, pluck the Harp. Come to Velaris.’
It was half an offer. From the bulk of his arms, Hunt could fight. Amren would rub her hands together at the sight of another weapon to be added to the Night Court’s arsenal. But maybe it offered a better life than slavery. Nesta didn’t know.
‘Thanks,’ he said. ‘No coffee there though.’
A furry creature wearing a yellow jacket scurried in front of them then leapt into the river. Its head bobbed above the current before the whole animal swooped below. Before Nesta could even ask, Hunt paused from his walking to point out another that was scrambling up the bank on the other side.
‘Messenger otters. They deliver letters to the mer.’
***
How long had it been since Hunt viewed the world with anything more than cynicism? It was hard not to fall into the same wonder as Nesta when she found delight in every little thing. Often, Hunt struggled to explain how things worked in a way that Nesta would understand because he’d never questioned it himself. It was a given that it worked. If there was time during the week, he’d take her to the library – and likely lose her in there.
After a day spent exploring every single avenue of Lunathion – except the Meat Market – they retreated back to her hotel room when a drizzle rolled in with the grey clouds. Even that didn’t stop her enthusiasm. Nesta made him coffee using the kettle in the room. She flipped the switches, waited in front of it as it began to boil then made a noise of triumph when the switch clicked itself off. She’d poured in three sachets of the crappy instant coffee that the hotel provided, but Hunt drank it because he couldn’t bear to take that joy from her expression.
Nesta had given him a lot to think about. For every eighteen questions he answered, Nesta would give up one of her own answers about her world. It sounded rudimentary in ways – their technology lacking massively – but their magic seemed more powerful. She remained coy about her own, claiming she had no magic. Nesta was hunting magical objects from a trove. If she was like him and could detect such things the way he could detect demons, Nesta Archeron was far from powerless.
His cell phone held all of her attention now.
While sprawled out on the firm hotel bed, he’d switched on the television. A crap chick-flick was on but it required no brain power to follow the plot. He’d surrendered his cell to her because there was nothing incriminating on it. Nesta lay beside him with the pillows wedged under her head. Her white tee rose up slightly exposing a strip of her stomach. The complaints about her tight jeans ebbed when she realised it was the fashion in Lunathion – but Hunt had no complaints whatsoever. The plain, dressed-down look suited her although none would dare call her plain.
‘You have no portraits,’ she commented.
‘Photos,’ he corrected.
‘Will you teach me how?’
Hunt leaned in towards her. ‘It’s tricky. See that button? Press it.’
The click of the capture button sounded and then she was off. Nesta strode around the room documenting everything, including him.
‘We must sit for hours in my world to have a portrait painted. How lovely that you can make a memory so easily.’
‘You sound ancient, Nesta.’
She knelt on the edge of the bed to take a close up of his face. ‘I’m twenty-five.’
Hunt groaned. ‘I’m older than you by a good two hundred years.’
‘Cassian is over five hundred years old.’
‘That’s twice you’ve mentioned that name.’
‘Keeping count?’
Hunt inclined his head, waiting for more. Nesta came to sit beside him again on her pile of pillows. She wiggled her toes which were in fluffy rabbit socks. ‘Cassian is… a somebody. We’re involved. Sometimes. I don’t know.’
‘Like a fae mate?’
Her nose wrinkled up. ‘No.’
‘A husband?’
‘Definitely not.’
‘A fuck buddy?’
Nesta raised her brows. ‘I don’t know what that is nor do I wish to know.’
‘You’re a smart girl, I think you can figure out.’
Nesta ignored him in favour of the phone. If she had a fae male waiting for her then Hunt probably shouldn’t be so close to her on the bed. Those fae pricks could be territorial when it came to females.
‘Hunt, it says there are busty fauns in my area who want to meet me.’
‘Don’t click!’ Hunt plucked the cell from her hands. In some ways, Nesta was like a toddler – in others, she was like a two-thousand-year-old enigma, especially when it came to technology.
The rain grew heavier, lashing against the window as they both watched the film. He’d asked her earlier what she did for fun in the Night Court and he’d received a sniped answer that her sort of fun had been taken from her then she’d amended her answer to reading and training. She definitely seemed to enjoy this – and he’d teased her about making heart-eyes at the male lead.
‘Ruhn will keep an eye on you tomorrow,’ he said. ‘The fae prince.’
‘The prince of pricks?’
Hunt couldn’t help but laugh. ‘Don’t call him that or Micah will have my balls. I have to work but I can try and swing by at the end of my shift.’
‘I’ll have another list of questions for you to answer.’
‘I’d be disappointed if you didn’t,’ he replied. Hunt glanced at his phone. ‘Get ready for some real magic.’
Nesta’s lips parted, about to ask a question then the door knocked. He gave an encouraging nod to her to open it.
A male in a Food Drop uniform held out a bag of takeout for her. Hesitantly, Nesta took the bag then turned towards him.
‘What is it?’
‘Magic,’ he said, grinning. ‘Open it.’
Slowly, she moved towards the bed whilst plucking open the bag. ‘I don’t know what this is. We don’t have this in Velaris.’
‘Nesta Archeron, your life is about to change.’
They finished the film then found a re-run of Fangs and Bangs while Nesta lay on the bed practically moaning at the food. He’d gone simple but classic; hot cookie dough with vanilla ice cream. From the sheer delight on her face, Nesta had won the lottery.
‘You use that device and food appears?’
‘I order it,’ he clarified. ‘There are tons of places to choose from. You choose what you want, pay for it, and it arrives at your door.’
‘If I wanted cake, I could use that cell phone and a cake would come here?’
‘Modern technology.’
Nesta finished her cookie dough then Hunt gave her the rest of his.
‘Hunt Athalar, I am never going home.’

im so damn in love with kidnapped by the fae AU. especially willex. I'm on my knees i just need a little bit more
Some loose Kidnapped by the fae!AU headcanons inspired by conversations with @floating-in-the-blue and @legolasghosty
-Willie is friends with the crows. Ray has accepted this. He's glad Willie is making friends, even if they're not human. He's also glad the crows never poop on his car anymore.
-Willie has a hard time with the whole concept of money. He's been raised by fairies. His entire life was a series of complicated rules about trades, kindness that is rewarded, except when you try to reward their kindness and it's seen as an offense, and sometimes there's tricks where you're punished either way, and other times Caleb is just amused he's asked for something interesting, and now they're telling him you can just... slide some paper and coins to someone and they do or give you specific things????
-Yes they had several long conversations about it because Shoplifting is Bad, even if they don't see you, if you want more strawberries you can just put them on the grocery list. No teleporting inside the greenhouse and eating them there is still stealing. Yes even if you clean their house for them. Please don't break into random farmers' houses to clean them, buddy, this is America, people have shotguns.
-Between Willie trying to eat things before paying for them while at the supermarket and Alex getting overwhelmed with all the choices and Luke just staring at everything modern (he really liked the automatic doors once Ray promised they weren't magic), Reggie is the only one who gets to come grocery shopping if he's in a hurry.
-Yes Reggie absolutely adores father son bonding time shopping with Ray. And also getting to pick special treats for his boys.
-But when Willie starts asking to come with because 'I have your silly papers now, I want to pick my own fruit please, I promise not to eat them until we're in the car' Ray is like: okay. And then: where the hell did you get money.
-Willie: =D The crows give it to me. Ray: You taught the crows to pickpocket??
-Willie just shrugs. "When you go to the place with the Fast Food you give the people in the weird hats the papers and they give you fries. I started giving the crows fries for the silly papers, and it works." He leans over to whisper: "Sometimes they get a fry just because they're good birds or they bring me something shiny instead."
-Ray is still in an existential crisis on if his new foster son and his empire of Crime Birds is something he should try and stop, when Willie is like: Like this rock!!!
Ray: WILLIE THAT IS A DIAMOND.
Willie: Oh is that good? You can have that one, I like this one better. And then he proudly shows Ray a random pebble with some pink bits in it.
-Listen four extra supernatural mouths to feed is a lot but also he doesn't want to get arrested trying to pawn it but also he can't go to the cops and say: the crows brought my kid this in exchange for a french fry. So the diamond ends up in like, a junk drawer.
-Now that they've all worked out that Sharing Is Caring Willie is no longer wanting to hiss in jealousy at Julie and they become good friends. She makes him flower crowns that he proudly wears everywhere.
-When Ray insists he has to wear a helmet to skateboard he pouts because it will crush his flower crown, so Julie makes him one that fits over his helmet.
-The boys all love Flynn and let her play dress-up with them until they 'find their signature styles'. Alex likes pink and comfy clothes and fanny packs, Luke will cut the sleeves off anything.
-Flynn teases Reggie that is he sure he came from the 90s and not the 50s and Reggie is just like: I already have a signature style and it's served me well thanks.
-Willie will wear whatever and makes everything look good but he likes crop tops because of the way it makes Alex go all flustered.

BECKYI HAVE SOME FAKE FIC TITLES FOR YOU!!!!
(Do whichever ones you want, or none!)
— Mysterious Menace
The Tiny Who Could Flickering Lights
(Also thank you so much for the fic titles, they’re challenging yet so good!!)
:00000000000000 The obscurity!!! I like a challenge >:]
Mysterious Menace
Something strange was going on the smp. Everyone's stuff was going missing. Like EVERYTHING! One minute it's there, the next second POOF! Gone.
But the strangest thing is that when an item is discovered missing, is the strange giggling that follows and yet; no one is around that it could belong too.
Now you may be thinking the culprit must be using invisibility potions right? Well that would be a viable option if not for the fact that the thief would still need to open doors to get inside to steal objects, and after the first 8 times something had gone missing, Phil had set up a Redstone system to alarm him if any doors were triggered open. and yet, his stuff still kept disappearing.
It also seems the thief can make things float now too, as he stares at his iconic hat seemingly float through the air to an open window followed with 3 tiny voices of people bickering..... or, 3/4 sbi are tiny faeries that have decided to steal things from all of the smp and are caught by their favorite human to mess with.
Heheheh pranks go brrrrrrrr
The Tiny Who Could
Its not an unknown fact that Orphanages in Essempi don't have a great amount of Funding. They have enough money to support all the children under their care, but not enough to supply the children with extra gifts and non-essential special things for the children there. The head of Orphanage: Kristin, did her best to give the children the best Christmas she could, she really tried. But even with the little money she had spare after her own living expenses, there simply wasn't enough for all the children.
And telling the children they wouldn't be getting any gifts was always the worst part.
Well Phil wasn't having that. He'd been living at the orphanage and watching over the children there for years.
And while he was small, he knew how to carve objects from wood. When you're a tiny, there isn't exactly whole lot of stuff for you on hand, so Phil had learned to make things for himself. And yes while there were 20+ kids in the orphanage, if he could just get the wood, he'd have a gift for every child there by the time Christmas rolled around.
He could do it. He could bring joy to all the little kids in the orphanage.
So every night after each borrowing trip, Phil would go to the attic and take one of the old unused building blocks from the unusable toys box, and carved a gift for each child. While he couldn't make anything fancy fancy, he figured little figurines of animals would be okay. He took it upon himself to find out each childs favorite and would study the old picture books to carve their details precisely. He even found some unused paints, and painted them!
When one gift was finished, he took it from the attic, tied it with a bow and nametag of the child and moved it to behind the wall of where the christmas tree would be in preparation for Christmas eve. Soon, every child had a gift and on Christmas eve, Phil had pushed out each gift under the brightly decorated tree. Come Christmas morning, the children would have themselves a new toy. Now to return to the walls and get some well needed sleep before anyone woke up like Kristen who was standing in the door way staring at him with tears dripping down her face. Well, so much for going to sleep.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THIS IDEA HERE FEELS TOO WHOLESOME! LIKE I SWEAR IF SOMEONE WANTS TO WRITE THIS OR WE DO SECRET SANTA AGAIN AT CHRISTMAS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WRITE ME THIS! I WILL LOVE YOU!
Flickering Lights

Wreckless - Pool Adventures
Tumblr media
*Warning Adult Content*
Emmett
I wasn't sure what to expect when I came out... there could have been a work of art on the concrete or what I got which are some very well done scribbles.
I tell him dinner is in the oven and he hands me a triceratops.
I'm not sure exactly how to hold it because the lake is done from above and the trees and mountain, no wait, it's a volcano, are done from the side.
I decide it doesn't matter.
He has the T-rex in one hand and is flying the pterodactyl around in the other.
"So what's the plan? I don't want you to eat me," I tease.
"No, that's mean. I won't eat you, Emmett."
"Good. Maybe we should be friends and go on an adventure."
Aren't we already?
"Okay."
He's looking to me and I have not watched a dino movie in quite awhile.
Um, a mission.
A dino-friendly mission.
"How about we go searching for something?"
"Like what?"
He perches his pterodactyl in the tree and walks his t-rex over towards me.
"How about a special tree with a surprise?"
I grab the same colors he's used for his other tree and make a new one a few feet away.
"It has two trunks, that's how we'll find it and a treasure box inside."
"I love it. There should be a river to cross," he says, drawing one between us and the goal.
We've found the treasure box and I've given him a riddle to solve when my phone beeps.
"Dinner time, let me check on it and then we need to finish our adventure quickly so we can eat."
"Okay, we can do it."
He's so excited... I love his Finn voice.
He doesn't sound child-like really, even though his words sometimes are.
He's not faking a voice or anything.
He just sounds happy and excited and he's thinking hard about the riddle, I can tell.
I pull the chops out of the oven, cover them with a towel and put the veg in the microwave.
"I'm thinking about the riddle, Emmett," he says when I come back out
"But I need a hint."
It's a good one, one my mother taught me ages ago.
A hint, eh?
"Okay, it's usually white or brown."
Too much of one, really but dinner is ready and I know he wants to solve it.
"So something you can't use until you break it," he repeats.
"Something white and brown."
"Yep. White or brown," I stress.
"It doesn't change colors, it only comes in two. Wait, they have blue ones sometimes now, I don't know. At the store they come in two."
"Another hint," he says.
"You buy it at a store?"
"Yep. And dinosaurs had them."
I'm actually amused at that one and the look on his face is priceless.
"Dinosaurs don't have stores, Emmett."
"I know."
He laughs and jumps up.
"Eggs. You break an egg to eat it and you buy it at the store and dinosaurs lay eggs."
"You got it. Let's go eat dinner and then we can swim afterwards."
"What's our prize?"
"I'll give that to you after we swim, grasshopper. Looking forward to it."
I get a wry smile in return.
After dinner on his new plate we get changed.
I spray his shoulders and he does his nose and cheeks because even though there is no way he can get burnt right now, I refuse to risk it.
He complains but does it anyway.
I bring out some drinks and the lube because I definitely plan on taking him out here once it's dark and blow up the two extra toys.
He jumps right in and uses two to float, one under his knees and one behind his head.
"Feels great, Emmett. Come in with me."
"Rather come in you," I mumble just loud enough for him to hear me before jumping in.
"Naughty Emmett."
"It's not my fault you make me crazy, Finnegan."
We swim around for awhile, play a game of Marco Polo, play a weird net-less version of beach volleyball and then he hops out and opens his bracelets.
He puts three together and makes me a necklace, does the same for himself and then asks me to put a bracelet on each of his wrists.
"We look very snazzy."
He decides to repurpose his bracelets as dive toys and spends fifteen minutes collecting them from the bottom of the pool over and over.
When he's tired I put them back on for him but don't let him escape.
I pull him against me and hoist him up and he wraps his legs around me and his arms around my shoulders.
"Hi Emmett."
I answer him with a kiss, trailing down his neck until he giggles and then stops giggling and starts breathing hard.
"I'm going to fuck you out here in the open. What do you think about that, Finnegan?"
"You... what?"
"I..." I repeat slowly.
"Am going to fuck you out here, bent over that table. I'm going to muffle your screams with a towel so the neighbors don't hear you begging for more or begging me to stop, either way works for me, babe."
I sneak my hand right down the back of his trunks and tease his bud with my fingertip.
"How does that sound?"
"Oh. I... I think it sounds fun, Emmett."
"Good."
He hops out and I'm right behind him.
I drape one towel over the table to cushion him a bit and he folds one up for under his head.
As soon as I get his trunks yanked down I bend him forward, step out of mine and sink to my knees so I can work him open.
He yelps and then sighs as I caress him with my tongue.
A few minutes later I'm sinking into him, working him open with my cock instead.
It's much less gentle but he's taking me beautifully and managing to stay fairly quiet.
I reach around and stroke him and he's hard and almost as desperate as I am and I have gotten over my fear of asking for too much when he's been working.
No, he's right, he needs this and so do I.
He comes right after I do, squeezing me hard as he shudders.
We both stumble inside and through a quick shower and soon we're in bed.
His head is on my shoulder as I try to read one-handed.
After our chapter, he kisses my neck.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, Finnegan. Think you can sleep now?"
"Yeah. I was up so early. This morning feels like yesterday. I don't know how to explain it."
I know exactly what he means, it feels very distant and I guess it is.
Physically and mentally.
"I understand. Get some rest, we'll have a good day tomorrow."
"I can't wait and Emmett?"
"Yes?"
"I love you, lots."
He's waiting for me to say something but I'm sort of choked up and having a hard time breathing.
"Love you too, darling."
"Night night."
"Sleep tight, Finnegan."

This was written for @paperdemon-arpg
It was a warm afternoon in the town of GhostSpirit. The vampire, Jax Bloodbeck, makes his way across town to the home of the local witch, Celine. Celine had come into contact with a special item that can cause portals to re open. That item is called a Junket tank. Jax puts a hand into one of his pants pockets. In the pocket is his special dice bag. Inside that bag is a set of white RPG dice. He always changes what set he brings with and today he said the sparkling white with teal numbers.
There is a cool breeze that hits as he reaches the home of the witch. Jax walks up the steps and the door opens before he could even knock.
“JAX!! I am SO excited for this portal!” Celine is already holding her staff adorned with amethyst. “Come on, let's go, I will give you more details.”
Jax smiles and follows her though the house and out to the shed.
“I don't know how I found this! It must be a message from The Above or elsewhere far off!” Leaning the staff against a wall she picks up a mechanical looking trinket.
“How does it work? Don't you normally just move your staff and the portal appears?” Jax had heard this is how it works from Lu and Evan.
Celine goes and grabs her staff again. She opened the door to the lantern and switched the blue and red orb with the tank. It makes a nice little click sound and starts to show a pale shade of blue light.
She places the orb on a stand that sits on a desk that stretches the length of one of the walls.
“Lyra… You are fine with the cold, right Jax?”
“Yeah, I can handle it.” He crosses his arms like the cool guy he is.
“So I have a task for you. I've only read in my studies about this place. Something I really want to see is the Terra Borealis. If you find it or experience it, try to take a picture!” Celine goes to her desk and opens a large book. The words are slightly hard for Jax to read.
“I can do that for you. No problem.” Jax moves away from the book and sits at one of the seats that surround a round table in the middle of the large shed. “I'm ready when you are.”
Celine screes in excitement. She takes a deep breath before facing the back wall on the shed where a magic circle is drawn. She closes her eyes and the tank in the lantern glows brighter and makes a whurrring sound. She draws a large triangle on the wall with her staff as the portal gate opens. A cold blast of air rushes into the shed. Some snow rides along the wind. Celine moves to the side “Have fun and show me that borealis!”
Jax is in awe of the portal. He slowly stands up and makes his way through.
Cronch, crunch, crunch.
The snow beneath his gym shoes sparkles and shines almost like millions of little diamonds.
Looking around the new environment, Jax sees a light in the distance. Crystalline mountains surround him, scattering flecks of rainbow light on the snow. The moon is bright shining above.
Crunching the snow and following the stretch of land in front of him, Jax makes his way up a hill and into another clearing. Standing stunned at the beauty before him. Floating a small measure above the snow are rainbow lights. Jax has heard of the aurora borealis being in the sky but what did Celine call this again? The Terra Borealis? Well that would surely make sense to him being these lights hovering the ground. Jax takes out his phone and snaps some pictures. From above, to the same level, to below, Jax takes his pictures. He assumes that Celine is going to study them so best to take many and a variety of ways for her research.
A chill hits him. His hands are getting cold and pictures are getting hard to take. He puts his phone away, makes sure to zip up his brown jacket and keep his hands in the jacket pockets. This is not a winter jacket but Jax thinks he could last a bit longer. The lights are beautiful. Maybe this could be an interesting date for him and Evan. Only if Ceine gets her hands on an extra Junket Tank without plans of using it.
Jax thinks it's time to go home. His hands warm up just enough to send a message to his friend. A triangular portal opens in front of him. Stepping from the cold back to the warm stuns him for a moment. The stun wears off soon after the portal closes.
“What did you find?” Celine asks as she removes the now used tank with the red and blue orb in her staff.
“It was really pretty. It's like the opposite of here. Instead of being in the sky it's near the ground. I will send you the pics I took.
“Thank you Jax, that means a lot to me.” She gives him a big hug.
“If you happen to find another, do you think I could bring Evan?” Jax asks.
“That depends if I get another and if there isn't an important mission that needs to be done. Sorry.” Celine goes over to her desk and closes her book.
“That's fine! No worries, no problem.” Jax pulls out his phone and starts to send his photography session. To Celine. He also messages Evan and Lu to tell them that he will be home soon.
“Incredible job on the pictures Jax! Impressive work!” Celine scrolls though the images sent by Jax.
“Alright, I should be heading home. This was fun. Please let me know when you have another adventure to go on.” Jax starts towards the door.
“Yes, will do! Have a good night Jax!”
Exiting the shed and starting the walk home Jax thinks about how beautiful the borealis was and how he hopes to visit again soon.

O3M presents his debut single, Sgr A*
O3M is an electronic music producer who showcases a fluid and dynamic approach to his sound. His diverse tone explores the many possibilities of techno as the artist set out to embrace a contemporary flow while also capturing the warmth of the genre’s old-school vibes. The musician’s debut studio single, Sgr A*, is actually a perfect insight into O3M’s creativity and vision. In addition to the title track, the release also features a b-side, “Fermi Bubbles,” which adds more variety to the release and gives the audience an extra piece of music to appreciate.
The first thing you might notice when listening to Sgr A* is the analog-like feel of the sound. The percussion especially have a very warm, powerful sound that sets the bar higher in terms of bringing so much energy to the table. There is something truly special about how everything comes together here, and the side-chain swells, as well as the sparse melodic elements go for a truly spontaneous and organic vibe that adds life and humanity to the production.
“Fermi Bubbles” follows along the same lines and feels like a seamless companion to the title track. However, this song offers a slightly more melodic approach, with interesting synth patterns and arpeggios to add to the overall texture of the song. Both tracks are consistently well-produced, serving as a perfect calling card for O3M, who really set out to showcase some amazing work right off the bat. Debuting a new project is always a challenge, but this artist really managed to stand out from the get-go here!
Sgr A* is highly recommended to fans of artists like Floating Points, Caribou, and Fred Again, only to mention a few. Overall, this is an impressive debut for O3M, and it stands out as a great introduction to the producer’s vision and flow.
Find out more, and do not miss out on Sgr A*. This release is now available on some of the best digital streaming services and elsewhere on the web.
We also had the chance to ask the artist a few questions. Keep reading to learn more!
- Your debut single, "Sgr A*," showcases a unique blend of old-school techno vibes with a contemporary approach. How did this unique combination of sounds came to be the focus of your music?
Through a deep appreciation for the roots of electronic music and music in general. I wanted to pay homage to the early techno era while infusing it with a fresh perspective, creating a bridge between the past and the present.
- “Sgr A*" has a distinctive analog feel, particularly in the way the sound feels so organic. Could you share some insights into your production process and the equipment or techniques you used to make the tracks so warm and alive?
I work with a custom Ableton Live/Max setup, incorporating modified analog hardware and my acoustic guitar. My songs are essentially recorded live in a single take without the use of MIDI files or pre-programmed synth sequences. The guitar takes on the role of creating and modulating synth sequences and audio samples in real time. These layered elements are then processed through analog filters and envelopes. Then, I live-loop all of this, layer, tweak, and engage in more live-modulating via controllers. I essentially do short improvised studio sessions with this technique, followed by a few broad edits of the recording to create a song. I want to keep everything fresh and spontaneous.
- How do you approach the songwriting process? Does it start with a rhythm, or do you begin from the melodic elements?
Each song always starts with a melodic acoustic guitar part, which, as I mentioned, actually creates the synth notation, and it also modulates and triggers a specific sample; A relatively obscure '70s RnB sample in the case of this single. The prominence of the original guitar part in any given song varies according to my creative vision, providing flexibility in song composition. Sometimes, it's barely noticeable, as it's blended deep within the synth parts, and its purpose is mostly to modulate the synths. I do have some more tracks coming out soon where you can hear the guitar more.
- Your single release also includes the b-side "Fermi Bubbles," which has a more melodic vibe with some cool arpeggiated synths. What inspired the title and concept of this song?
This was another approach on the same theme, using the same original guitar part and vocal sample. It was the second half of my live recording session. Both songs, "Fermi Bubbles" & "Sgr A*" draw inspiration from astrophysical phenomena. The titles reflect my fascination with space and the cosmos. It's a musical journey through the universe.
- Do you have any plan for further releases or collaborations?
Oh Yes! I already have 2 more singles coming out within the next few weeks and more on the way. O3M is continuously exploring new horizons and working on exciting projects to share with the world. Stay tuned for more music and creative partnerships, as well as remixes in the near future.

I say Miraculous AU where Luka comes on the trip as a chaperone.
- Marinette stressing over what happened with Fu and now being guardian. Tom and Sabine are actually concerned about their daughter and want to do something about it, so when Luka visits the bakery to say “hi” to Marinette, they recognize him (he’s been in Marinette’s room in “Silencer” so they’ve almost definitely seen him before) and ask him to go along on the trip with Marinette, with them pulling all the strings to find a way for him to join. Luka isn’t a fool, so he happily agrees. Tom and Sabine like, “oh don’t forget to ask your parents if it’s okay,” and Luka’s just, “trust me, she’s fine with it.”
(optional bonus that, since the whole class but Lila went, there is actually an extra seat that they’d reserved for her before she backed out when she thought Adrien was going to stay behind)
- During the scene where Ms. Mendeleiev offers Marinette her seat, Luka moves in after the switch has been made, chiming in to offer Marinette his seat so she’s not uncomfortably crammed in between two adult men. She’s surprised at the offer, but thanks him and swaps with him, earning a nice window seat in return.
- At nighttime, Marinette wakes up (her head probably slipped and it hit the wall; didn’t hurt but she’s awake now) and slips out of her seat to go check on Luka to see how he’s doing. She giggles at the popcorn Mr. Damocles has dropped on him, finding it cute, then carefully reaches over to wipe off the pieces. She turns to leave, but her earlier motion brushing the popcorn off wakes Luka up. He gently calls her name and slips out of his seat to join her; she tries to apologize but he just smiles and assures her that it’s fine.
- While on their way to the back of the plane, Marinette trips slightly on Alya’s foot (as Alya is sleeping on Nino and her foot was partly in the aisle; Marinette didn’t bump into it earlier because she didn’t have to move to the side for Luka back then). Luka steadies her and Marinette covers her mouth to suppress a yelp, then they keep walking to the back.
- Still, the movement woke Alya up and she glances back to look at Luka and Marinette watching the sunrise together. Confused, she nudges Nino so the both of them can look together. Alya comments that she’s seen Marinette making “lovey eyes” at Luka (referencing “Captain Hardrock” and “Frozer”), but Marinette is so OBVIOUSLY into Adrien and “can’t be honest about her feelings.” Nino chimes in that he’s having “best bud struggles” too because Adrien is still as sheltered as ever and “won’t come out of his shell.” They get the idea to perform “Operation New York” as in the original and think that it’ll be totally easy with no roadblocks whatsoever!
- Meanwhile, Marinette and Luka have their talk about her getting her “clarity.” Marinette sighs and admits that it feels like people are going to talk about her and Adrien no matter what she says/does (which tips Luka off that something’s wrong), to which Luka replies with a smile that he promises not to bring up Adrien for the rest of the trip unless Marinette does so first. She agrees to that, even giving him a “thank you” hug that he eagerly returns.
- On the ride to the place everyone’s staying at, Alya tries to engage Marinette in conversation about Adrien, clearly smug and feeling confident that it will be easy, but then she realizes that Marinette isn’t paying attention and is idling on her phone. Alya nudges Marinette, earning her attention, but when Alya starts talking about Adrien again, Marinette’s phone goes off and she looks back down at it, now giggling. Alya, now annoyed, asks Marinette if she’s even listening, which gets Marinette to look up and really give Alya her attention. “Oh, sorry about that. I was texting Luka.”
- Alya is just, “?????”
- Yes, this special is very much going to be Alya and Nino suffering to try to get Adrien and Marinette alone together and constantly failing. You’re welcome.
- No sliding door lock-ins because that’s dumb and the special is dumb for thinking it. Also, when Alya goes to mock “tease” Marinette about her Adrien crush in front of Sabrina, she turns to realize that Marinette is with Luka talking to Miss Mendeleiev about where he’ll be staying since he’s not technically with the class, and/or Luka is talking to some of the New York people about how amazing Marinette is ala Jagged Stone.
- Later in the night, everyone sneaks out to the party (bonus if someone comments that they “never took Luka for the type to sneak out” and Luka just grins like, “You clearly haven’t met my mom.”; double bonus if Luka stumbled into Aeon and Jess’ room with Marinette and Adrien, so Aeon was all “those two are--!” before seeing Luka and being confused) and a few party-goers ask Marinette and Luka if they want to dance to the energetic music. Marinette grins nervously and insists that she’s clumsy and will just end up falling all over people (a few pout and complain that “it would’ve been fun” but drop the subject).
- Cue the superhero hot dog vendor (a description I never thought I would say but here we are) handing out hot dogs. Aeon (foreseeing what will happen; it does pain me to still put her in the roll of “love square shipper” but I’m trying not to change what characters do or how they act unless I’m specifically adding things, meaning the main change is just that Luka’s here) and knowing that Luka interfered earlier, sees the guitar case on his back and quickly requests that he play some music alongside Jess since they both play guitar. Luka agrees, assuring Marinette that it’s alright and he’s not interested in having hot dogs since he’d just get crumbs on his guitar.
- Alya and Nino grin because they’re finally going to do something here!! As in the original, the hot dog vendor only has two hot dogs left and Alya and Nino split them in half, handing two halves of the same hot dog to Adrien and Marinette, who eat their respective half.
- Marinette yelps as her feet leave the ground and Luka’s head darts up on alert. He immediately abandons his guitar, his hand reaching out and catching hers as pulls her back down (or at least as down as she’ll go while still floating). He looks up at Adrien - as if to consider helping - but Adrien doesn’t want it and seems to be having fun trying to figure out how to fly, even muttering to himself about how he wish Kagami were there because they could’ve done “air fencing.”
- Luka looks back at Marinette, ensuring that she’s okay. She’s staring up at Adrien, expression mixed, then looks back at Luka, his presence grounding her as she calms down. She almost seems to forget that Adrien is there, focusing on her current flying capabilities and how light on (off?) her feet she is.
- “Oh...oh!” She gasps, realizing with a grin. “I can’t fall over if I’m floating! Luka, dance with me!”
- He’s caught off-guard by the enthusiastic request, then chuckles and nods in agreement, happily taking her other hand as well as he guides her to the other people dancing.
- Cut to the next day when the group is going to the museum. Alya and Nino are absolutely exhausted because Luka has consistently gotten in her and Nino’s way, which leads to them coming up with the new scheme with Aeon and Jess.
- Nino sends Adrien to the planned room and Alya goes to send Marinette, but Luka catches on and casually asks Marinette if he can go with her. Alya cuts in to “playfully” dismiss Luka and tell him to stop “hovering over Marinette,” leading Marinette to slowly walk off with one longing look back at Luka.
- Luka intentionally waits for Alya to not be watching anymore, then follows after Marinette.
- Episode plays out mostly as normal, though because Marinette has to carry Luka off to somewhere safe, she’s not as easily able to go off after Chat until later since she had time to cool down. Aeon doesn’t die but Paris is still a wreck because Chat Noir didn’t show up, leading to the same Chat Noir quitting scene (just with Ladybug calling out Chat here instead of mid-battle) as before. Adrien still ends up having to leave and Alya still snaps at Marinette, which leads to Marinette chasing after Adrien (mostly due to just mounting stress and pressure and the loss of her partner).
- As Marinette lies on the pavement, Luka shows up, soaking wet because he had actually never gone back with the rest of the class; he’d run off when Ms. Mendeleiev explained to him that Marinette was missing. He panics when he sees Marinette lying motionless there, running up and quickly checking her for injuries and to ensure that she’s breathing. She just leans forward and hugs him without warning, defeated but happy to have him with her.
- Marinette slowly explains the situation, Luka looking horrified when she starts talking about what Alya was shouting at her about, and he listens all the way up until the end before pointing out, “You didn’t have to like him that way to want him to stay.” “W-what?” “Marinette, you can be Adrien’s friend and still want him to stay in New York with us. It didn’t have to be any deeper than that.”
- His words cause Marinette to realize something; she - and definitely her friends as well - had put so much weight to everything she did for Adrien just because of her silly crush that of course she couldn’t see him as a friend. With all the insistence that getting him permission to go to New York and wanting him to stay was due to her crush, it was all she could focus on. She can want things for Adrien and want to do things with him regardless of her feelings for him, and she doesn’t have to put a name to those feelings either; she’ll never be able to truly move on if she keeps equating any good feeling towards Adrien with crushing on him.
- That done, Luka helps her up and they slowly walk back to go inside, though stopping as they see that Ms. Mendeleiev is at the front of the building chewing out Alya and Nino; both of them for sending Marinette and Adrien away from the group for fake tasks at the museum, and Alya specifically for sending Marinette after a car in the rain. Ms. Mendeleiev states that they’ll talk about it more inside but everyone should get back to their rooms for now.
- Marinette heads back to her room alone (as she shared a room with Alya but Alya’s getting a talking to at the moment) and is later visited by Uncanny Valley, who explains that she’s needed. Marinette - now with renewed confidence in how she feels thanks to her revelation - doesn’t say that she “can’t imagine Ladybug without him” and instead states that she and Chat Noir are partners, and a partner doesn’t abandon the other. She did it once herself, a long time ago, but she was ready to face her mistakes afterwards and she hopes that Chat Noir is too.
- Cue return of Chat Noir (no LadyNoir hug because no Chat, you have to earn that back) and the battle plays out as usual. Adrien still has to go home and Marinette sends him a text for later saying, “I wish you could’ve stayed,” but with a smile on her face, confident that this really is a friend thing and that’s all it needs to be.
- Marinette and Luka end up sitting together on the plane ride back to Paris, right behind Juleka and Rose. It’s nighttime, but neither can sleep and Marinette decides to use the private time to thank Luka for what he said (really, all the things he said), but Luka assures her that any improvement is all on her and he’s just happy to be around for it. She chides him for his modesty and tells him to take the compliment because he deserves it (they’re just flirting at this point), then slips out of her seat and into Luka’s, lightly jabbing at his chest with a finger while insisting that he accept everything’s he’s done for her. He laughs and replies that he’s happy to do that and is just glad seeing her smile.
- Eventually, the subject shifts to Juleka and Rose, who are once again sitting in the same seat, all cuddled up and sleeping together. Marinette asks playfully if Juleka and Rose are like that back on the Liberty, to which Luka nods and answers that they are, all the time. They have a good giggle about it, with Luka explaining that they’re very close (possibly giving some exposition on how long they’ve been “together” which is obviously referring to dating but could be seen as friendship by writers who are chickens).
- Marinette thinks about that for a moment, fingers briefly twitching, then she settles a little closer to Luka, asking quietly, “Do you think we’re that close?”
- Luka gapes at her in response, needing a moment to study her expression - which is more confidence than he’s ever seen her show before - and make sure that she means what he thinks it might. Once he’s certain, he gives her an almost shy smile, replying, “I’d like us to be. What about you, Marinette?”
- Marinette turns more towards him, one of her hands falling upon his. She leans up, and the camera then cuts away to Juleka and Rose in the seat in front of them, smiling and cuddling closer to each other (a very obvious hint that Luka and Marinette kissed because the show is allergic to people kissing if it’s not the love square so fine, I’ll get creative)
- Just as the screen fades out, Marinette’s voice can be heard, saying, “Luka, I think I found my clarity after all.”

My Business - Clark Kent x Reader
Tumblr media
Requested by Anon -  A superman x reader imagine with the prompt: "I found your nose! It was in my business."
Requested by warblinglion0  - Hi! Could I request a Clark Kent imagine please??
***
Clark closed his eyes against the blowing snow. He flew over the city, using his super hearing to guide him. The city was quieter than normal. The snowstorm had shut almost everything down.
He sighed, swooping down to help a woman carry home groceries. “Thank you, Superman,” she shouted once she was at her building. Clark waved at her and took off into the sky again.
Most of his day was spent helping stranded people with the storm. He had already written his article about the impact of the storm on Metropolis’ sewer system. Perry could forgive boring content when the storm created a slow news day. Clark snorted. He bet Lois found some kind of amazing story in this weather.
He landed on the top of the Daily Planet. The cold air felt sharp in his lungs. It reminded him of winters at home. He looked out at the snow covered city, thinking of turning in. A cup of hot chocolate while watching that documentary he felt would give him an edge in a story he was researching. He felt warm already.
“Get lost, jerk.” Your voice hit his ears. Clark’s eyes widened in surprise. It was like he was subconsciously listening for you sometimes. Your voice always came to him in the moments he never suspected.
He floated into the air, searching for you. You sounded too close to be at your apartment across town.
“Stupid, country bum,” a man’s voice echoed near you. Clark heard a door slam. He flew faster before slowing when he found you trudging through the snow in the street. His stomach dropped at how underdressed you were. You didn’t even have a coat on.
He almost flew down to you, but he stopped himself. People couldn’t see Superman around you. Too risky. He quickly flew to his apartment only a block away. Changing into regular clothes, he made sure to pick up an extra coat for you before zooming back to you.
***
You wrapped your arms around yourself and cursed your situation. Why didn’t you bring a coat? Why did you decide to go the the club during a snowstorm? You shook your head, feeling the snow settled on your head. Everything was shut down. You shivered, crossing the street to make the long walk home.
“(Y/N)? What are you doing out here?” Clark’s voice made you jump. You spun around, seeing him run over to you. Ironically, he was dressed for the weather. Funny since he couldn’t feel the cold. “Where’s your coat?” He had an extra coat over his arm, which he quickly wrapped around you. You slipped your arms in the sleeves, noting how warm it was.
A shaky laugh escaped you. “I found your nose. It’s in my business...again.” You tapped his nose before struggling to zip up the coat. Your fingers were already numb, burning from the cold. Clark shook his head, smiling as he zipped it for you.
“Come on. It’s too far for you to go home now. My place is nearby.” He wrapped a strong arm around you and led you home. “Now why are you out in this weather?”
He was so warm and his big frame blocked the wind. “Well, I got invited to a club by some friends of Lucy’s.” You bit your lip. “I thought I’d go, but then one of the guys started making fun of me when I didn’t know what...” You stopped yourself from spilling the embarrassing conversation. “Never mind.”
“You’re always getting in trouble.” Clark unlocked his building’s front door and held it open for you. You hurried inside, stomping your feet to knock off the snow. Shivers rocked your body, you could have swore ice was forming on your body.
“And you’re always popping up to help.” You rolled your eyes. “I never would have thought my good old brother, Pete, would ask you to keep an eye on me so much. Do you two even talk that much anymore?”
“We do.” Clark bit his lip. Pete Ross didn’t call him that much, but they always caught up when Clark went home for a visit. It was actually during one of those visits that Pete asked Clark to keep an eye on his younger sibling who got it into their head to move to Metropolis. Pete thought you were in over your head, and honestly, most of the time you were.
You pulled Clark’s jacket closer as you both headed to the elevator. “I mean there was that time where I was in that bad roommate situation, so you helped me move. Then I wanted to rent that one place for really cheap and you stepped in to show me how bad it was. Of course, then you came in with that offer to live with Lucy Lane in a nicer part of town.”
Clark blushed slightly. “Well, it’s the least I could do. I mean you’re practically family, (Y/N).”
Your stomach soured slightly. You were afraid he only saw you as Pete’s little tagalong sibling. Who could blame him when you felt so helpless most of the time? “I personally think it’s because you want to make up for breaking up my mud mask business in the fifth grade.”
He laughed hard, almost doubling over. “You were taking mud from the pond and mixing it with your mother’s perfume. It made three people break out in hives.”
“I had a warning label on it.” You smiled at his reaction. “And it was five dollars a bottle.”
Clark shook his head. “Ma actually bought one from you. She didn’t use it though. In fact, I think she still has it sitting in the garage.”
“Too bad for her. Lana swore by it. Said it cleared up her acne just like that.” You snapped your fingers, chuckling along with him. The elevator doors opened and Clark led the way down the hall to his apartment.
“In all seriousness though, you shouldn’t have went out with a storm on the way. The city shuts down during snowstorms.” Clark unlocked his apartment door and pushed it open to let you in first.
“The club was still open.” You wandered inside, flicking on the lights to take in the bland surroundings. The only personal items were a framed newspaper article and three family pictures of the Kents.
“Stupidly still open, yes.” Clark shut the door and locked it. “I’ll make some hot chocolate. Make yourself comfortable, (Y/N).” He took off his coat and shook it out before pulling off his shoes. You kept the coat on, still warming up.
Clark went into the kitchen and you trailed behind him. “Were you as helpless as me when you first moved here?” you asked suddenly as you took a seat at the counter. Clark blinked, turning to look at you while he turned on the stove.
“Yes. I had no idea what I was doing and I had a few tricky situations myself.” He smiled. “I’m glad I can help you not to make the same mistakes I did.”
You hummed. He turned back to start warming up the milk. “Of course it was easier for you. Being Superman and all.” Clark flinched, looking at you with wide eyes. You laughed at the sight. “I know. I know. We’re not supposed to talk about it. It’s the thing we know, but never speak of.”
Clark sighed. “I don’t think that made it easier for me.” He cleared his throat, turning back to the stove. “It was hard to hide my powers. To have some much noise around me all the time. Not to mention when I decided to become Superman.”
You watched him, noting the tension in his shoulders. Part of you wanted to go hug him, but you resisted. You didn’t know how he would react. “I remember the first time we knew for sure that you were something special. It was during winter break one year. You, Pete, and Tommy Johnson were trying to go ice fishing at the lake. I followed you because you wouldn’t let me come and I was being stubborn.”
“You fell through the ice because you walked on the thin part.” Clark hummed, getting out the chocolate mix.
“No one would have noticed, but you heard me scream.” You crossed your arms. The chill from the freezing water felt like a permanent scar every time you thought back on that day. “I went under the ice and I couldn’t find a way to get out.”
“I dived in after you.” Clark mixed in the chocolate slowly. You wondered if he was remembering how cold the water was too, even though he didn’t get cold. “I had to break through the ice once I found you. Pete and Tommy ran over to help. I let them pull us out. Tommy couldn’t believe I broke through the ice, but Pete told him it was thin there too.”
“None of us said anything about it, but you did save my life that day.” You took a deep breath, slipping off your chair. Taking off his coat, you were finally warm enough. “We always knew, but never really talked about it. I remember I tried to ask Pete to ask you to lift this big rock for me and he slapped my face.”
“He slapped you?” Clark spun to you, staring at your cheek like Pete just slapped you right this second. You chuckled and touched your cheek. It had stun a lot. You cried at the time.
“Pete was protecting you. Like I said it’s the thing we all knew, but never talked about.” Your face burned at the concern on his face. “I’m fine, Clark.”
Clark bit his lip, turning away to grab two mugs out of the cabinet. You snorted when you saw he had a superman mug. “Ma gave this to me. She thought it was funny.” He handed you a filled mug and turned off the stove.
“It is if you know.” You took a sip, licking your lips. “This is good.”
“Thanks, I learned from the best.” Clark took a sip of his own hot chocolate. “I was going to watch a documentary for work if you want join me? Otherwise, we can just watch regular TV, I’m not picky.”
You headed into the living room and made yourself comfortable on his couch. “The documentary is fine. I like learning.”
“I bet Mrs. G just rolled over in her grave at that.” Clark laughed. “I remember how you made her so mad that her face turned completely red like she was going to burst into flames.”
“Good times.” You laughed, relaxing as Clark sat down beside you. Shyly, he grabbed a blanket and covered you and himself with it. You hesitated before cuddling into his side.
Clark paused. You saw a mixed expression of emotions cross his face. “You comfortable?”
“Yep.” You took another sip from your mug. Clark relaxed and turned on the documentary. The two of you snuggled while the snowstorm raged outside.

The next morning, Clark was startled to hear eggs frying in the kitchen. He slowly got out of bed and was about to leave his bedroom until he remembered you. Quickly, he pulled on an old Smallville High t-shirt. No reason to scare you with his bare chest.
You were in the kitchen. Clark stopped in the doorway, his breath taken away. He had forgotten he had given you a shirt of his to wear. You turned when you heard his gasp. “Good morning.” You waved innocently before turning back to the stove. “I hope you don’t mind that I made us breakfast. I figured it was the least I could do since you let me stay here last night.”
“Well, I wasn’t going to send you out into the storm.” Clark sat down at the table. His body threatened to burst into flames. Why did you look so good in his shirt?
“You could have flown me home.” Clark watched you as you made a plate for him. He almost groaned at how domestic it was. Part of him wished you could be here every morning. However, the other part of him knew you were Pete Ross’ sibling. Off limits.
Clark cleared his throat. You set the plate in front of him. “Thank you.” He dug into the food to distract himself from the racing thoughts.
You laughed and made a plate for yourself. Clark tensed when you sat down right next to him. “So it’s still snowing outside,” you said, picking at your food.
“It is.” Clark glanced out the window at the winter wonderland outside. “I’ll have to insist you stay here.”
“Oh, you wouldn’t have to insist.” You met his eye, winking at him. “But what are we going to do all day long?”
Clark took a big bite of eggs. His heart fluttered at your wink. “I do have to write an article, but after we could...I don’t know...maybe break out that game we used to play?”
“You still have that? And you have it here?” You gasped, clapping your hands.
“Ma sent it to me a year ago. Said I might need it.” Clark chuckled. He avoid mentioning that Ma only sent it after she found you out were moving to Metropolis. Come to think of it, Clark wondered if Ma knew something he didn’t. Then again, she always did.
You went into a story about when you all first played the game. Clark listened, remembering it himself. You, Pete, and Clark played the game for the first time in the basement of his house while there was a tornado warning. A warm fuzzy feeling came to his chest. Clark decided then and there that he would call Pete once you went home and ask him for permission to ask you out.

Baking AU prompt: Ok this is p dorky but what about Lan Wangji receiving some pastries from a rival bakery (idk maybe gifted from a coworker or a client who had a successful case). And WWX is fine, he really is, it's just that he feels very confused and off-center thinking about LWJ eating those mediocre, inferior pastries. So he ends up going on a baking spree and making a much fancier version of whatever LWJ received. Cuz you know, he'd hate for LWJ to not know what that dish is SUPPOSED to taste like, you understand. WWX's version is much better, isn't it Lan Zhan? Right? Isn't it?
Lan Wangji blinks down at the purple box in bewilderment.
“Moon cakes?” he asks, as Wei Ying turns away with flushed cheeks and a twitch in his left eyebrow. “Thank you, Wei Ying.”
Wei Ying nods and sticks his hands into a pan of sweet bread dough. “It’s the mid-autumn festival soon, so I baked you some.”
“Baked me some?”
“Of course! Aiyah, Lan Zhan, don’t you know how long it takes to make yuebing? And you have to leave them for a couple of days to make sure they’ll be good to eat, too! I’ve never sold mooncakes at Lotus Pier, and I never will.”
Hesitantly, Lan Wangji opens the box and peers at the twelve round cakes lined up inside. Wei Ying often gives him free buns and pastries, and Lan Wangji’s heart nearly beats right out of his chest with every one--but those gifts are part of the bakery’s everyday menu, even if Wei Ying does make sure to wrap and label them in advance, so for Wei Ying to have baked something for Lan Wangji specially...
His fingers move almost of their own accord, reaching for the smallest yuebing before bringing it up to his lips. The crust is perfect, rich and soft with a hint of warmth that must have come from some kind of spice--Wei Ying’s own addition to the standard recipe, most likely--and the paste of the filling is moist and fresh and oddly clean-tasting, as if something light and fresh had been blended in with the lotus seeds.
It’s the most delicious yuebing Lan Wangji has ever tasted, and he eats so many every mid-autumn from the gifts he and Lan Xichen receive that he was sick of them by the first year after his Xiongzhang started the law practice.
“How is it?” Wei Ying asks, halting with his arms buried up to the elbows in raisiny dough. “Do you--like them?”
Lan Wangji still has his eyes shut, with the sweet morsel cradled between his tongue and the roof of his mouth, and he extends a hand towards Wei Ying’s shoulder as if to assure himself that the love of his life is real.
“They are divine,” he says hoarsely. “Wei Ying, you--”
But before he can finish his sentence, the door flies open, and A-Yuan appears on the threshold with sugar smeared over his cheeks. “A-Niang!” the little boy cheers, wrapping his arms around Wei Ying’s legs. “A-Niang, did Lan-shushu like the mooncakes?”
He turns towards Lan Wangji without a reply, reaching out to tug at his slacks without letting go of Wei Ying. “Uncle Lan, you have to like them! A-Die didn’t let us try even one bite!”
“I only made enough for you,” Wei Ying mumbles, when Lan Wangji stares at him with stars in his eyes. “I don’t eat them very often, and you know I don’t sell them--but you had that dry one in your packed lunch when we went to the park with A-Yuan, and...”
Suddenly, his heart feels as if it could float right out of his body. “You wanted to make me one I would like?”
“I did.” Wei Ying’s cheeks are suffused with a beautiful flush, so delicate that Lan Wangji can hardly see it, but he is certain that if he touched his friend’s tanned skin, he would find it as warm as the oven counter. “Don’t eat those dry mooncakes anymore, ah? Come to me if you want them, and I’ll bake a batch for you.”
“I want to taste one,” A-Yuan clamors, butting his head against Wei Ying’s hip. “Please, Lan-shushu!”
“A-Yuan! The cakes were a gift, you can’t--”
“He is more than welcome to,” Lan Wangji says gently, bringing the most succulent-looking cake out of the box and offering it to A-Yuan. “If you take some, Yuan’er, the others will taste even sweeter.”
“Really?”
“Mm, they will. Food is the most delicious when it is shared.”
“That’s what I keep telling Xiao-Yu,” A-Yuan agrees, sighing as if the weight of the world were on his six-year-old shoulders. “His peanut snacks will taste better if he shares them with me, but he never does!”
“A-Yuan,” Wei Ying chides, bringing out a handkerchief to wipe Wen Yuan’s face. “Baobei, don’t speak with your mouth full. You might choke, and then what would A-Die do?”
The scene is so very domestic--with Wei Ying wiping A-Yuan’s cheeks, and Lan Wangji cupping his hand under the little boy’s mouth to catch the crumbs as he nibbles at the mooncake--that Lan Wangji almost dies on the spot. But then Xue Yang comes running in with Xiao-Yu and dumps the baby into his arms before rushing off to wait the tables in the dining room, and Lan Wangji comes so near to expiring that he has to cling to the table behind him for support.
“Dada,” Xiao-Yu whimpers, shoving his tiny nose into Lan Wangji’s neck as he curls deeper into the warm sweater Xichen forced him to wear before he went out. “Hug!”
Cause of death: cardiac arrest from spending too long with Wei Ying and the little ones, Lan Wangji think dazedly, breathing in a lungful of Xiao-Yu’s clean baby scent before Wei Ying leans over to take the infant from him. How can all three of them be so precious?
“Do you really think so?” Wei Ying teases. Lan Wangji turns crimson--he said the last sentence aloud somehow, and now Wei Ying is beaming at him as if Lan Wangji is the most wonderful thing he has ever beheld. “All this for a tasty mooncake, Lan Zhan? If I knew you liked good yuebing so much, I would have made them earli--”
“Have dinner with me.” Lan Wangji blurts out. “Wei Ying, I...please.”
“Aiyah, we’ve been friends for so long! You know you’re always welcome for dinner, right? I’ll ask Jiejie to make some extra noodles, and take one of the seasonal dishes off the menu so I can cook your favorite--”
“No, I...have dinner with me, Wei Ying. As...as a date.”
Wei Ying’s eyes go wide. “Lan Zhan?”
“A-Die says yes,” is A-Yuan’s solemn contribution. “Lan-shushu, he told me you make his heart beat fast, so you should take him to dinner!”
Lan Wangji takes Wei Ying’s hand, and for a moment he cannot tell which of their pulses is quicker. “Your A-Die makes my heart beat fast, too,” he tells A-Yuan. “It races every time he looks at me.”
“Do you mean it?” Wei Wuxian asks. He seems to glow under the low light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, though the smile on his face could surpass the sun itself for brightness. “Really?”
Lan Wangji nods, and he is suddenly very grateful that baby Xiao-Yu is safe in Wei Ying’s arms--because his laughing father chooses that moment to kiss Lan Wangji on the lips, very softly, and take his breath away again, and again, and again.

Humans are Space Orcs, “Group Project.”
Alright everyone, still working on the lecture series, but I also wanted to get some ideas.
What parts of my worldbuilding do you want me to continue with?
What do you want to know more about?”
What story lines do you think I have left unfinished?
And are there any parts of the timeline you want to hear more about? (I was thinking about doing a story on how Adam was even given a ship in the first place) things like that.
I would find your feedback very helpful if you could :) at the very least it will help me get through my writing slump.
Almost six months.
Six months od doctor Krill’s lecture series and they still felt as if they didn’t understand humans anymore than they had when they first started. Despite months and months of research, and papers, none of them had managed to get a grade on an assignment that was higher than a C -- Dr. krill was using what he called the human letter grading system to give them some more experiences that would help them bond with humans, and boy were they bonding with the humans who just couldn’t seem to get it right.
It wasn’t that Dr. krill was an unfair teacher, it was just that most of them always managed to be wrong in some massive and obvious way about humans. For example, when writing a paper about how humans cannot see in the dark and would be likely not to survive on a dark planet, but then potentially forgetting about all the humans who survived being completely blind Everything you could say about humans was generally untrue for another human.
Humans have an extreme sense of survival however they seem prone on tossing  themselves from high places just for the fun of it.
Humans were both the most survival oriented and the most danger prone species in the entire universe, and that let to some very strange stories that often seemed as if they couldn’t possibly be true, but often turned out to be true anyway.
Either way, the class had been both difficult and exciting, and now they were approaching the end of the semester, and Dr. Krill had promised them something very special to go along with their group project.
They all waited nervously in their predetermined groups watching as Dr. Krill stepped into the room.
He said something to his TA and then turned to his projector to fiddle around for a moment.
When the lights blinked overhead this time.
Dr. krill trend to look at the class, “Understanding that we are approaching our last few weeks of class, I have decided to do something a bit special for all of you. To prepare you for the real world of working with humans. I understand that all of you have been working hard despite your abysmal grades, and have decided to do something that human schools do when just such a thing occurs….. Grading on a curve. I certainly didn’t expect any of you to understand humans any better after all of this was over, so this week, I am going to give your real opportunities for some real learning.”
He looked around the room rather smug, “First of all, I want to introduce you to a REAL life earth predator.”
Somehow, in some way, Krill made a sharp whistling noise, and out of the darkness of one of the entrances, their came the soft thudding of footsteps…. Four of them to be precise.
When the furry animal raced into the room the entire class went into a state of panic. Aliens leaped up on their desks and screamed. Vrul inflated and began floating towards the ceiling, all was chaos as the large fuzzy creature raced around the perimeter of the room and then straight towards Dr. krill himself.
More screaming.
“Waffles Sit!” The animal skidded to a stop, and then sat with a soft thump on the floor.
The classroom grew very still as Dr. Krill began to pat the predator’s head.
A pink tongue lolled from it’s mouth past massive white K-9 teeth. Its huge ears swiveled back and forth.
The class slowly began to relax back in their seats as Krill continued to pat the dog, rubbing the fur under its chin so that it raised its head and grumbled deep in it’s throat. Its tail slapped repeatedly against the ground.
“Everyone, I would like to introduce you to one of the staples of a human pack….. A dog.” He continued to pat the animal, as she slid to the ground beside him tail still thumping loudly against the ground, “Waffles was trained by humans for humans, and has the ability to both detect and prevent psychological crisis. As you all know humans are rather prone to mental dysfunction, but this dog is one of the first line defences put in place for a specific human.”
The dog leaned up, and with her long pink tongue, she liked the doctor on the arm.
The class cringed back.
“If you ever want to work with humans, it is likely you will have to work with dogs as well. Any dog that is going to be aboard a human ship will have been vetted for work with other alien races. They will be friendly, and they will calm. Waffles has been around humans her entire life, and around aliens for over two years which is a little less than half of her life.”
He turned to look at the room, “I will give a hundred points of Extra credit to anyone who is brave enough to come down here and pet her.”
There was silence in the room.
No one moved an inch.
Off in the corner a Tesraki shifted nervously in his seat.
He had the lowest grade in the class and he knew it, but a hundred point os extra credit would bring him solidly up a letter grade or two…. but …. It’s teeth were so big, and it probably weighed as much as he did.
It was the look that Dr. Krill gave him that finally urged him onward. Dr. Krill knew, and was, surprisingly, trying to help him.
Knees shaking and hands about to tremble off the end of his wrists, the Tesraki stood, and made his slow way across the room. His ears were plastered flat against his head and his hands only shook worse. The dog grew larger and larger in his vision until she was sitting right before him. Even sitting down she was only a foot and a half shorter than he was, and the panic he was feeling was unbelievable.
He looked into her eyes, and she shifted forward on her paws, snout pushing towards him. He backed away and the entire class gasped. She rocked back on her feet and gently lowered herself to the ground, looking up at him with wide brown eyes.
When he didn’t move she slowly rolled until she had flipped over on her back, looking up at him with her head tilted
A tooth poked out from under her lip, and her tail beat against the ground.
“Look at that!” krill exclaimed, “That’s a submissive pose she would use on a human, she wants you to rub her chest and belly, go on, she’s giving your permission.”
Heart hammering in his ears, he leaned down, and with trembling fingers patted the coarse fur on her belly. She made a grumbling noise and he leaped back, but Dr. Krill encouraged him on saying that it was a good thing, and so he continued. The animal kicked her leg a couple of times and the Tesraki felt his entire body tingle with exhilaration.
He was…. He was petting a dangerous earth animal, just like the humans would!
Eventually he was dismissed back to his seat, and the dog rolled over onto her stomach, resting her head on her paws, which she began to lick absently, large ears still perked.
Dr Krill turned to look at them, “But of course this class it primarily about humans, is it not, and I strongly believe that there is really only one way to teach someone how to interact with humans properly….” he looked around at all of them, “And that, is by experience.”
The class shifted in their seats with exclamations of surprise, and from down one of the hallways they heard a sharp repeated thudding. The beat was so regular and rhythmic it managed to make many of the Vrul students dizzy and confused, nearly lolling out of their seats.
Dr Krill stood firm two hands on hips, two hands crossed over his chest.
And that is when the column of humans marched into the room in perfect time with each other, their botos hitting the floor such that the seats about them seemed to rattle. The vrul could barely keep in their seats and the other students leaned forward in awe.
Most of the humans wore strange clothing in a black and greyblue pattern all over their bodies, while the human at the front wore light grey and a strange adornment atop his head. The front of his chest glittered with small colorful ribbons and little glittering symbols though no one could have been sure what they meant.
The line of humans drew to the front of the room and then stopped.
“LEFT FACE!”
The group turned in unison with the sharp rattling of boots on the floor.”
“ATTENTION!” Their bodies snapped into position, hands raised to their temples as they looked forward perfectly still.” “AT EASE.”
The group of humans, together, fell back into a posture of relative relaxation. Feet spread, hands clasped gently behind their backs, and there they stood as Doctor Krill moved to stand next to them, “Well class, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the Omen’s Alpha team. These marines have trained for years in ground combat for most of their careers. IF there is ever a problem on your planet, this is likely who the humans will send as reinforcements.”
He turned to the last human, the one with the shiny uniform, “And it is my pleasure to introduce our ship’s admiral, who graciously agreed to come and bring his men today. I think you will recognize him from your textbooks.”
When the human removed his hat and turned to face them, there was a shocked muttering. They knew him from their textbooks, as HE was the very template for the classic anatomical diagram that adorned many of the pages in their textbooks.
It was essentially his system that they were examining whenever they discussed the systems of the human body.
“A couple of things I would like you all to note here, and those are the highly social structure in which humans operate. This structure includes a strict hierarchy that humans take pains to make known. The Single Star on the Admiral’s shoulder marks him as the highest ranking human in this room. He outranks me, these other humans and all of you as civilians. In the human world, he is to be listened to, and his orders to be obeyed. In certain cases humans will overlook the intelligence of what someone is saying, if they are of a higher rank in worry of social repercussion.”
He turned to walk towards the marines still standing in their straight line, “They rank in order from this symbol down to this symbol and each of them has an important task to preform. In the early days of our meeting humans, this strict social hierarchy was enough to make some assume that humans were in possession of some sort of hive mind. However, this is clearly not the case. Humans do not have a hive mind, but they do possess a social structure so rigid in some cases that it may seem like it. I would also like to note the diversity in human appearance. The only other species that we have seen with even remotely comparable diversity in facial, tonal, and physical structure are either the Drev, or the Tesraki.”
He turned to look at the groups and his antenna buzzed with amusement, “Now, in your groups, I want you all to pick one of the marines to come join you, and then for the rest of the class, I would like you to come up with a principal about humans to demonstrate at the end of the lecture.” he pointed to one of the first groups, “pick a human.”
There was some slight shuffling and discussion as they tried to determine which human would be best. In the end they went for the smallest human hoping beyond hope that they would be the least aggressive.
It was a real pity that they didn’t understand the rule about short humans, and maverick, in an attempt to get to her group, ignored all the rules of decorum and simply stepped up onto the desks clambering over with great dexterity until she plopped herself down in a seat in the middle of the group turning to look at them, “Yo.” She said, rather un ironically as they stared at each other in shock.
The other humans were quickly divided out and went to sit with their groups mostly enjoying being the center of attention.
There was one less marine than they needed, so the highest ranking human handed his hat to the dog sitting on the floor and walked over to slide into a seat with them, showing his teeth in a gesture that was supposed to be friendly.
All around the room chattering steadily grew as the aliens began asking the humans quick fire questions which some of the marines found hard to keep up with.
When asked a question Ramirez simply shook his head, “You know what you guys probably know way more about humans that me. I’m not a doctor, or anything else. I am a marine, I know how to do like four things effectively, I call them the four Fs, Fight, Fun, Food, and er well you get the picture.”
Maverick was having a very amusing time explaining teeth to the aliens, albeit rather inaccurately considering that teeth weren’t actually bone but a mixture of enamel covered dentine, but Krill let it go on for the factor of amusement.”
The nervous members of the admiral’s group had already been lulled into a sense of ease at the man’s friendly and relaxing demeanor, and he was attempting to do his best at explaining a question given to him by one of the aliens, and was doing a better job than the marines at taking their questions seriously.
“Well you see, when it comes to humans you are always going to be relatively safe. Over the past thousands of years, access to soft cooked foods have caused our jaws to grow relatively small and weak leaving little room for our teeth. So most humans don’t like food that is difficult to eat. We aren’t impressive enough predators that we can just strip flesh from bone. Plus thats a great way to catch diseases, furthermore, our diets and the way we eat really had to change as our vocal cords moved further up in our throats. Sure this gave us the ability to speak and mimic almost any alien language known, but it also made us very prone to choking on our own food.”
He sighed, “I remember this one time when I was five and I choked on a hard candy, scariest moment of my life probably, or at least in the top ten. If you don’t know what choking is, its when something gets stuck in your airway blocking your ability to breath and you die from oxygen loss, I know a horrible way to die.”
The conversations continued all around the room until there was only twenty minutes left in class, and he called a stop so that the groups could demonstrate a human principle that they had learned.
The first group brought Maverick up and one of the other students presented her with a rock No one was really sure why he had the rock, but the fact that it had big eyeballs drawn on it was enough for her to happily accept the gift and declare its name to be “The Boulder.” The class was surprised to find that it took such little effort for a human to pack bond with something, but the fact that she held the rock in two hands and occasionally stroked a finger down it was clear enough evidence that it was true.
The other students demonstrated a human’s depth perception by throwing an object and watching as Ramirez leaped out over the desks, hands stretched out to catch the object mid fly before landing back on the ground. The precision that it required to do that left the class very very impressed.
Someone else had a human try to identify what something was based on it’s smell, and he accurately guessed the difference between Vrull Texraki and Runid just based on their smell. They even brought in one of the other humans to which the test subject exclaimed,  “Don’t tell me it’s Ramirez and his bitch ass. I would know those fumes anywhere.”
One of the humans managed to demonstrate a very impressive climbing ability, and another one of the marines was pleased to demonstrate a human’s advanced vestibular sense by doing a backflip off of one of the desks. He tried to do it twice, but tripped upon anding and ended up on his back much to the amusement of the other humans.
That was also a good demonstration of the human’s empathy reflex as the humans winced and were silent for a moment before they began their ridicule.
If they remembered correctly, humans used teasing and humor as social bonding. They would never have made fun of their friend if he had actually been hurt, but the fact that he wasn’t made it clearly acceptable to joke as it let the other humans know that everything was ok.
The last group caught the admiral off guard by saying the word yawn and causing a chain reaction that made its way all around the room until it terminated with the dog, who also yawned, much to the surprise of the students.
Krill watched all of this with interest, keeping an eye on his more motivated students, and the ones who got along best with the humans. He was still trying to get permission from his superiors, but taking a few house students with them on the omen and back to earth would be a great PR move and also a good way to get some of his more invested students an experience that they could really take with them into their careers.
If one thing WAS  clear by the end of the lecture.
It was that Maverick was not going to give up her pet rock any time soon.

Paring: Frankie Morales x Fem!Reader Warnings: just a bunch of fluffy family fluff, some dude being a nosy creep, overbearing mothers Length: 1.1 k Notes: This one is slow, babes. Just needed to build a bit of this new world, introduce Annie a bit and show you how things are progressing. It’ll pick up again soon I promise, bear with me! (Or don’t, I mean I can’t force you to like where this is going, lolz) Also, just typed this up tonight while raging at the laziness of men, so there are going to be mistakes, I can’t be fucked to find them. Trying to post this with NO links, as I’ve heard that may be the reason for the tagging issues? LET ME KNOW IF YOU GET THE NOTIFICATION THIS TIME!
Tumblr media
Turns out, two people with zero child-caring experience are not going to have an easy time suddenly becoming parents. There wasn't any one particular thing that you could pinpoint the difficulty one, either, it was just a complete one-eighty on how you had previously lived your lives.
Frankie immediately stopped working such late hours, effectively putting a bookmark in the cider's expansion. He didn't even have to think twice about it, it was a no-brainer to him. Didn't make the loss of potential income an easy pill to swallow, though. Date nights were officially off the schedule, so were sleepovers and all the fun things that accompanied them. There had been a few heated moments between the two of you, but Frankie felt weird about having sex anywhere near his daughter and you refused to let him fuck you in the barn. Again. Especially after the last two times resulted in unfortunate splinter placement.
Annie took less time to adjust than the two of you did, she really was an amazing little girl. She loved her little nook in the loft, although the décor was not to her taste and she wouldn't stop dropping hints about it until you took her to pick out new everything. Frankie had tried to put his foot down by explaining she wasn't going to get everything she wanted in life, but all it took were widening eyes and a protruding bottom lip before he was handing you the truck keys before you could blink.
Annie's attachment to you had surprised everybody, including her. The conversations you and Frankie had had before her arrival usually skirted around the conversation of what your role would be. You knew she was mourning her mother and were wary of trying to replace her, so you had fully expected to take a step back from Frankie's life while he and Annie built their new one together. You had her at apple farm, however, and now the two of you were best buds.
Well, until the six-going-on-sixteen attitude reared its ugly head and suddenly sweet, angelic Annie was replaced by a stubborn, moody, unwilling child who decided that screaming was the best response to negotiations.
For the first couple of months, Frankie had allowed it, not knowing what was normal acting-out behaviour for a kid who had experienced parental loss. He also had a hard time being strict, as he still felt like it wasn't his place; some weird kind of imposter syndrome. However, after Jacquie and Mark had been witness to one such episode, they had gently pulled Frankie aside and encouraged him to find a therapist for Annie and that structure and rules would be beneficial for her.
New routines were set, some of which you were involved in and others were special between Frankie and his daughter. Saturday was movie night, she was asleep by 7:30 so it was more of a movie evening, with popcorn, Twizzlers, and coke floats. You were invited to these, as Annie insisted on educating both adults on which Disney princess was best.
Frankie drove Annie to school every day, he knew he could easily send her on the bus but he needed that extra assurance that she had gotten to school safely. There had been an odd incident, which no other adults seem to have witnessed, where a man had apparently approached Annie and started asking her questions about her parents.
This had, understandably, upset the girl, and the two of you, but the busy body's identity was never revealed. Frankie had been irate. Initially, he interrogated Annie, asking her for every little detail. Then the bus driver, parking lot attendant, teachers, and other kids were subject to his questioning. He went so far as to request all security video footage from around town, but nothing showed up. Neither of you suspected Annie of lying but it was like the man was a ghost.
Eventually, it was chalked up to a parent wanting to get the scoop on your and Frankie's lives, as you'd been very private considering your first action as a couple was to practically dry hump on a carnival ride. After that incident causing Frankie's panic attack, and now creeping out a kid, you were a lot less inclined to appreciate the meddling from bored townsfolk even if it did bring the two of you together.
Frankie was always thinking up new ideas to build trust and create new memories for Annie, his guilt at missing out on her toddler years was exasperated by having her now. They created a memory book for her, so she could write down, colour, or paste anything that reminded her of her mom or her life in California. You were secretly building a memory book for the two of them, to show Annie when she was older how hard her dad had worked to become the man she needed him to be.
Twice a week Annie got to pick the recipe and they made dinner together. This usually resulted in a massive mess and only semi-edible food, but the smiles on their faces were worth it.
On Wednesdays, you picked her up and had a girl's afternoon getting something from the bakery and perusing books at the library, making up stories about the people walking by the café windows, or driving over to Jacquie's so Annie could play with her kids.
It was after one such outing when you were dropping Annie off at the farm, that Frankie came out to greet you with a guilty look on his face.
"I'm sorry," he began, rubbing the back of his neck and readjusting his baseball cap. "I didn't look at the caller display before picking up, and then once I was on the phone I got nervous."
"Frankie," you said lowly, dread filling your stomach. "What did you do?"
"I couldn't help it, I panic talked and I don't even know how much I blurted out! She's like Oprah or Barbara Walters! She just knows how to get people talking!"
"I know, Frankie," you ground out, trying not to lose your shit in front of a very interested little girl who has no filter during Sharing Time at school. "That's why we don't answer her calls!"
"But, babe, she's your mom. We can't keep ignoring her-"
"Apparently not!" You didn't realize how frustrated you were before it was too late. Your voice had gone shrill and loud and, judging by the look at Annie's face, angry. Taking a deep, calming breath in you tried smiling at the two of them without it making you look demented, "I need to call her and do some damage control, make sure she doesn't do something rash like-"
"Ahhh..." Frankie was back to looking guilty and you could have sworn your heart stopped. "She knows about Annie. Called herself Grandma. Said that Mother's Day would be extra special this year..?"
"FUuuuuuudge.." you barely managed to withhold the swear, looking at Frankie with a slightly panicked yet amused look on your face.
"It's okay," a little voice piped up, "I know that word. Mom said ‘Fuck’ all the time while we were stuck in traffic."
Part Fifteen - coming soon!

Skyward Sword - comparing NPC names in English and Spanish
For this I’ll be comparing mainly 2 (technically 3) translations of SkSw: English (ENG), Spanish (Latinamerica) (ESP-LA) and Spanish (Spain) (ESP-SP). If available, I’ll add the Japanese (JP) too. The spanish ones might be the same in some cases, which will be marked as (ESP). (I might also add an extra translation or two if i know them)
Link (リンク - Rinku), Zelda (ゼルダ - Zeruda) and Impa (インパ - Inpa) stay the same in all translations. Some of them have some minor changes tho (beware of slight spoilers for SkSw)
(Special thanks to @sunnylaurels for sharing the Japanese names for the Skyloft NPCs! And to @attllhak for sharing some French ones! - Really Long post under cut)
Main/Important Characters
Fi (ENG) - Fay (ESP) - ファイ (Fai) (JP)
These are basically the same, just different spelling. There’s a lot of speculation as to what Fi’s name is based on. For some reason I like to think it’s because of “Wi-Fi” but anything goes
Ghirahim (ENG) - Grahim (ESP) -  ギラヒム (Girahimu) (JP)
This one’s interesting because both ‘translations’ are technically right. English follows it more “to the letter” doing “Gira” as “Ghira”, while Spanish interprets it as “Gra” since Japanese doesn’t do the two-different-consonants together thing, but overall both are the same
Groose (ENG) - Vilán (ESP-LA) - Malton (ESP-SP) -  バド (Bado) (JP)
Groose, Groose, Groose. Probably the main character with the MOST changes. “Bado” seems to be referencing the Japanese pronunciation of “bird”, but could also be interpreted as “Birdo”. LA Spanish’s “Vilán” is sometimes seen as referencing the english “Villain”, but recently @/deerdroo pointed out to me it’s most definitely referencing the “Gavilán” bird, which resembles a little eagle (Wikipedia calls it a “sparrowhawk” in English). Not sure what Spain’s doing with “Malton” but I like it. And of course “Groose” follows the bird naming theme most of Skyloft has (referencing grouse and goose). Also his name in French is “Hergo”
Demise (ENG) - El Heraldo de la Muerte (ESP) -  終焉の者 (Shūen no Mono) (JP)
Okay this guy. “終焉の者” could be translated as “The One Who Brings The End”, according to @/sunnylaurels. So, in a way, I guess it makes sense for the English translation to just grab “Demise” for the name but also I feel it REALLY takes away from how it’s a Title rather than a name? He’s an ancient being, him existing as a “concept” and having no name adds a lot to his character imo. Anyways, “El Heraldo de la Muerte” would translate as “The herald of death” or “the messenger of death”, which is like really ominous i think - imagine having to fight some guy and everyone on earth calls him the messenger of death. I’d be so scared. Yes I’m very aware Demise means Death i just think it’s silly he just gets called that and that’s it. Also i keep reading it as Denise so really, who’s losing here? Not me.
As a fun add-on to this, in German his name can be translated to “Death-bringer” (thanks @/aureateart), while in French it’s Avatar du Néant, which would translate to “Avatar of the Void” (thanks @/attllhak)
The Imprisoned (ENG) - El Cautivo (ESP-LA) - El Durmiente (ESP-SP)
“El Cautivo” basically means The Imprisoned, but “El Durmiente” means “The Sleeping One”, which... fits, but also i find it a bit funny, not sure why. Fight the sleepy avocado everyone
Deities + The Surface’s Main Places’ Names
The Goddesses stay the same in these translations too:
Din (ENG, ESP) - ディン (Din) (JP)
Nayru (ENG, ESP) - ネール (Nēru) (JP)
Farore (ENG, ESP) - フロル (Furoru) (JP)
Hylia (ENG, ESP) - ハイリア (Hairia) (JP)
The dragons, for the most part, too. The only one that really changes is Faron, which changes to “Farone” much like in Twilight Princess with the Light Spirit of the same name.
Eldin (ENG, ESP) - オルディン (Orudin) (JP)
Lanayru (ENG, ESP) - ラネール (Ranēru) (JP)
Faron (ENG) - Farone (ESP) -  フィローネ (Firōne) (JP)
Levias (ENG) - Narisha (ESP)
I couldn’t for the life of me find Levias’ name in Japanese, but considering EVERY translation EXCEPT English has him as Narisha? i’m gonna take a wild guess and say it’s ナリシャ (Narisha) or similar. His name Levias is based off the word Leviathan. And Fun fact! Did you know the spaniard Zelda Wiki lists him as being one of the dragons? as in, him being a whale-shaped dragon? yeah.
The Surface (ENG) - Las Tierras Inferiores (ESP)
Las Tierras Inferiores would translate as “The Lower Lands”
Faron Woods (ENG) - Bosque de Farone (ESP)
Eldin Volcano (ENG) - Volcán de Eldin (ESP)
Lanayru Dessert (ENG) - Desierto de Lanayru (ESP)
These ones mean the same for the most part, just with the change of Faron to Farone.
Skyloft / The Sky - Places and Animals
The Sky (ENG) - El Cielo (ESP-LA) - Celéstea (ESP-SP)
“El Cielo” literally means The Sky, while Celéstea would be a play on “Celestial” (From the Heavens/Skies). Fun side note - “El Cielo” also means “Heaven”, so when i was younger everytime i went back to the sky i’d be like “rip Link he’s dead :/”
Skyloft (ENG) - Neburia (ESP-LA) - Altárea (ESP-SP)
Neburia, from what I learned after a 4 am Wikipedia dive, could be based off the word “Nébula”, which can mean “Cloud”. It basically means “Cloud Town”. Altárea, I think??? would be based off the word “Alto” which means “High (Altitude)” so basically, “A Place High Up”? If anyone wants to comment on this i’d appreciate it
The Lumpy Pumpkin (ENG) - La Calabaza Flotante (ESP-LA) - Calabarza’s (ESP-SP)
“La Calabaza Flotante” literally means “The Floating Pumpkin”, while “Calabarza’s” is a really clever play on Calabaza and bar. I’m not sure what the name of the island itself is in english, but in Spanish it’s “Isla Calabaza” (Pumpkin Island) (ESP-LA) and “Calabia” (word play on “Pumpkin Place”) (ESP-SP)
Loftwing (ENG) - Neburí (ESP-LA) - Pelícaro (ESP-SP)
Neburí would also come from Nébula, so it’d translate to something like “Cloudy (thing)”? possibly. Pelícaro seems like a play on the word “Pelícano” which means Pelican.
Remlit (ENG) - Lémury (ESP) - Remuri (JP)
Lémury is a play on “Lémur”, probably because of Remlits’ ringed tails. Remuri might be the same play of words.
Skyloft/The Sky - NPCs
(I might revisit some of these at one point since some of the references they could have flew over my head!) (haha get it? flew? the sky? ok)
Batreaux (ENG) - Mursego (ESP-LA) - Batolo (ESP-SP) - Morusego (JP)
My friend! my buddy! Batreaux is an obvious play with “Bat”, since he kind of resembles one. This is kept in both Spanish names - Batolo seems like a combination of “Bat” and “Bartolo” (a spanish name), and Mursego is based off the spanish for Bat “Murciélago” (as well as being the closest to the Japanese “Morusego”!!). Keeps the “flying animal” theme in all three languages.
Beedle (ENG) - Terry (ESP) - テリー (Terī) (JP)
The man, the myth, the legend. Beedle’s name is similar to “beetle”, the insects he loves in BoTW and SS. Not sure what the deal with “Terry” and similar is. He keeps the “flying animal name” theme with Beedle, sort of, but loses it in every other translation (which, btw, is also Terry or a variant in most languages)
Bertie (ENG) - Arín (ESP-LA) - Alfred (ESP-SP) - Arin (JP)
This poor man. Working all day and all night. Bertie’s supposed to reference a type of sparrot called “lovebird” (the bird part). For Arín, besides being basically the same as Japanese, could reference the word “Cantarín”, which means “singsong” and is used to describe birds that sing a lot. Alfred... no clue.
Cawlin (ENG) - Corvy (ESP) - Ras (JP)
In the same way “Cawlin” references “caw”, which is the sound crows make, “Corvy” references this same bird, called “Cuervo” in Spanish. In french he’s “Orbo”, which if i had to guess also references crows.
Croo (ENG) - Gurriaco (ESP)
“Croo” could reference both the “cooing” of birds and “crow”, like Cawlin above. Gurriaco, if I reach enough, could be referencing “Urraca”, a type of bird in Spanish.
Dodoh (ENG) - Dodo (ESP) - Dodo (JP)
Referencing the extinct bird of the same name in all languages, I guess.
Dovos (ENG) - Dombo (ESP)
Dovos feels like it’s referencing “Dove”. Dombo gives be “Dumbo” vibes - probably could reference it because he flies? not sure
Eagus (ENG) - Aquilo (ESP) - Igurusu (JP)
Eagus, Aquilo, and Igurusu are referencing Eagles. It’s more obvious in Eagus. The spanish for Eagle is “Águila”, which is just two letters off from Aquilo.
Fledge (ENG) - Gruyo (ESP) - Sebasun (JP)
Fledge is referencing Fledgling, a young bird. Gruyo comes from “Gruya”, which is Crane in spanish. In french his name’s “Célestin”.
Gaepora (ENG, ESP-LA) - Gaépora (ESP-SP) - ゲポラ (Gepora) (JP)
Pretty much the same. His name is also a combination of the Owl from Ocarina of Time’s name “Kaepora Gaebora” (ENG, ESP) - ケポラ・ゲボラ (Kepora Gebora), probably because he looks a lot like the Sage of Light Rauru and the owl he turns into. One of the few Skyloftians not named after a bird in English, though technically he is if we consider the above?
Gondo (ENG, ESP-LA) - Dorcon (ESP-SP) - Doruko (JP)
Not sure what Gondo might be referencing bird-wise exactly? though i think “Gondo” is similar to “Gonzo” (from Wind Waker), with who I think shares some design aspects. Dorcon in Spain’s Spanish seems to just take from the original Japanese. In French his name’s also “Dorco”!
Goselle (ENG) - Alani (ESP) - Otaka (JP)
I’ll be real, not sure what’s going on with her names in either language. Goselle gives me bird vibes but i’m not sure. Alani reminds me of the spanish “Alaja”, which means Jewel
Greba (ENG) - Ornella (ESP) - Miho (JP)
Ornella reminds me of the word “Hornilla” (mute H), which is basically the hole where the heat comes out of in wooden ovens... but! according to the dictionary it also means “(a) hole where pigeons make their nest” so i guess it’s bird related too!
Gully (ENG) - Gabio (ESP-LA) - Gabi (ESP-SP) - Garu (JP)
Gully most definitely references a seagull. Gabio and Gabi references the same animal, but in spanish obviously - “Gaviota”.
Henya (ENG) - Galina (ESP-LA) - Zenona (ESP-SP) - Heena (JP)
Henya references Hens, as does Galina (Hen being “Gallina” in Spanish). Zenona... uh.. not sure where that came from? I’m halfway through this post realizing i’d gladly accept comments from any spanish speaking person who wants to give an input on these things im missing
Horwell (ENG) - Asteus (ESP) - Hoonelu (JP)
i’ll be real im not sure what Asteus is referencing. Horwell seems to be pretty close to the japanese for the most part though
Jakamar (ENG) - Carpín (ESP) - Geran (JP)
Carpín is most definitely referencing Wood Peckers (“Pájaro Carpintero”/Carpenter Birds)
Karane (ENG) - Grusi (ESP-LA) - Gracielle (ESP-SP) - Kuranu (JP)
Karane seems to be almost the same as in Japanese, while Spanish went crazy and gave her a completely different name, tho at least they’re kinda similar between each other. Also in french her name’s “Grida” (another Gr name!!)
Keet (ENG) - Pío (ESP-LA) - Pitxi (ESP-SP) - Michiru (JP)
Pío is, quite literally, the sound birds make (or the way we’d write that sound in spanish), especially chicks. Pitxi is a mystery to me
Kina (ENG) - Calabel (ESP-LA) - Calabelle (ESP-SP) - Panan (JP)
Calabel/Calabelle is referencing the spanish for Pumpkin, “Calabaza”, giving it a more feminine name-esque ending (like in Anabel/Anabelle)
Kukiel (ENG) - Picalia (ESP-LA) - Cuqui (ESP-SP) - Kuuko (JP)
Cuqui could be referencing that exact same word (often spelled “Kuki”) that just means “cute”. Picalia seems like a play with “pícara” which basically means “gremlin” (google translates it as “sassy” but im not sure if that word fits)
Luv (ENG) - Mandi (ESP-LA) - Amanda (ESP-SP) - Manda (JP)
Mandi and Amanda seem to stay close to the Japanese name, both of them being common spanish names. Luv, like i mentioned in Bertie’s part, would reference “love bird” (the love part)
Mallara (ENG) - Pati (ESP-LA) - Patty (ESP-SP) - Rubia (JP)
I only now realized Mallara is referencing mallard ducks. wow. Pati/Patty are just a common name in Spanish. Lil fun fact related to her Japanese name! Rubia means “blonde” in Spanish
Mia (ENG, ESP-LA) - Miwi (ESP-SP) - Mi (JP)
mia my baby girl. i love her. im yeeting her off Skyloft. seems they all reference meowing in some way
Orielle (ENG) - Corina (ESP) - Kuina (JP)
LISTEN. the other day i was trying to think just WHAT Corina could be referencing. And the only thing that popped into my brain is that “Corina” is the name they gave the bird Tokyo Mew Mew girl in LatinAmerica. It’s literally the only bird related thing i can think of. Also it sounds a bit like “Kuina”. French name is “Kinaé”, similar to Japanese!
Owlan (ENG) - Buhel (ESP) - Aoulu (JP)
Owlan seems to keep the owl theme across all three! Aoulu seems to just be “owl” quite literally, and Buhel is a play on the spanish for Owl (”Búho”)
Parrow (ENG) - Golondro (ESP) - Parou (JP)
Golondro comes from “Golondrina”, a type of bird! I think it’s called “swallow” in english ... so it kinda fits Parrow anyways! Also Parrow seems to be his japanese name too
Peater (ENG) - Panolo (ESP-LA) - Paul (ESP-SP) - Jakusin (JP)
This guy. man. Seems to be “Jackson” in Japanese? But everyone grabbed a P and ran. Panolo seems like a play on “Manolo”, a nickname for people with the name “Manuel” - maybe mixed with the P for “Pájaro”(Bird)? Paul’s just a common name as far as i know.
Peatrice (ENG) - Panalí (ESP-LA) - Paula (ESP-SP) - Jakuriinu (JP)
Peatrice seems to always be named after her dad. “Jackeline” in Japanese i believe, and barely “feminized” names for the rest. Panalí sounds a bit more like “panal”, the spanish for “hive” (as in beehive)
Piper (ENG) - Joana (ESP)
There’s not much to comment here. Joana’s a common name in Spanish
Pumm (ENG) - Vito (ESP-LA) - Ruperto (ESP-SP) - Puukin (JP)
I have NO clue where Vito came from. It sounds like a badly spelled “Victor”. Where did the Pumpkin theme go???? huh?????. Ruperto’s kind of the same? Unless i’m missing some pumpkin related words in spanish, it’s just a common name.
Pipit (ENG) - Cocu (ESP-LA) - Coocker (ESP-SP) - Kikoa (JP)
This guy. It seems a lot of languages kept the C/K sounds in his name? He’s Kiko in French and Cuco in german (thanks @/aureateart). They seem to reference cuckoo clocks maybe? and the german’s really close to cucco.
Rupin (ENG) - Rupín (ESP-LA) - Milo (ESP-SP) - Kookin (JP)
Rupin/Rupin are referencing Rupees, since he’s the shopkeeper and the alike. Milo... I... I’m not sure what’s referencing?
Rusta (ENG) - Ganzo (ESP) - Rostaa (JP)
Rusta and Rostaa seem to be referencing Roosters, while Ganzo’s referencing the spanish for Goose! (Ganso)
Scrapper (ENG) - Serbot (ESP) - Sarubo (JP)
Including this lil guy here coz... why not? Serbot seems to be almost the same if not the exact name as Japanese (though Sarubo could just be Server?)
Sparrot (ENG) - Aspir (ESP-LA) - Gorronte (ESP-SP) - Subuha (JP)
Gorronte seems to be a play on “Gorrión” (Sparrow), so, pretty close to English. Aspir..... I’m not sure?
Strich (ENG) - Vestro (ESP) - Osta (JP)
Vestro, like Stritch, references Ostriches, with Ostrich in spanish being “Avestruz”. Seems Japanese references the same animal? and I think french too, since he’s “Latruche” in that language!
Wryna (ENG) - Elenia (ESP-LA) - Alisia (ESP-SP) - Arisu (JP)
Alisia seems to stick to the Japanese name Arisu (Alice), while Elenia went... a different direction. Elenia is a variation of a common spanish name, Elena.

Chemical Reaction - Kuroo Tetsuro
Summary: When the universe hands you a second chance, will you be able to move on from the mistakes of your past?
college!Kuroo x fem!reader
a friends to friends w/ benefits to lovers type of deal.
Warnings: some light NSFW, slow burn, aged up characters, mentions of smoking, mentions of alcohol, fingering, cursing, and a little heartbreak. angst to fluff
Word Count: 7.3k (it goes by fast, I swear (′ꈍωꈍ‵))
A/N:  Jesus... this started out as a prompt, but it snowballed into whatever the hell this is. And it was supposed to be done by Kuroo’s bday T-T but better late than never! I poured in a lil extra love into this, pls give it a shot, lmk what you think, and I hope you enjoy !
Tumblr media
Your history with Kuroo Tetsuro went back a little bit further than you’d like to admit.
He had been in your class for all three years you were at Nekoma, but you had really only popped onto each other’s radars second year.
He had been assigned the seat next to you, and while you were upset that your best friend, Eri, had been sat all the way across the room, you didn’t exactly mind the view.
Right off the bat, you knew this was going to be trouble for you.
The guy was cute, funny, and smart. How hadn’t you noticed him before?
“Hey, L/N-chan,” he said, already making you blush with the addition of the honorific, “I have many chemistry jokes… but I’m afraid they won’t get a good reaction!”
You couldn’t stop either the face palm or the giggle that slipped out of your lips.
Kuroo was an easy person to get along with. He always greeted you in the mornings, and never really bothered you during class. On the rare occasion he stayed in the classroom for lunch, the two of you would strike up a conversation, but it never went past the surface.
Until about halfway through the school year. Your teacher had assigned a project that required a partner.
You looked to Eri, only to find the little traitor pairing up with the guy she had been eyeing since first year.
You sighed, not even mad at her for trying to shoot her shot.
“Want to be partners?” your head shot to the boy next to you.
“Uhm. Sure!”
And so it went like this; the project was due at the end of the year, requiring a research paper, and a 7 minute power point presentation.
Once or twice a week, the two of you would meet up at the school library either before school or after your club activities.
Kuroo was smart; smarter than you but you’d never say that to his face, so more often than not, the two of you would finish what needed to be done that day, and spent the rest of the time just talking, and getting to know each other.
By the third time the two of you had gotten kicked out by the librarian for laughing too much, Kuroo suggested meeting at his house on the weekends.
Surely that doesn’t mean what you think it means right???
It doesn’t, lmao. This guy was a good student, he made sure you guys finished your parts, because there was no way he was going to get anything less than an A.
Oh, you guys finished a little early today? Great! L/N-chan! Help me with my receives!
As the weeks pass by, there was a mutual progression in the relationship, neither of you seeing each other as project partners anymore, and falling into a comfortable friendship.
For Kuroo, that is. You, on the other hand, just became way too good at acting like you weren’t falling in love.
The school year is coming to a close, and you turn in your project.
Surprise, surprise! You guys got an A.
Seriously, the teacher said she was going to start using it as an example for the future students.
You couldn’t even be happy about your passing grade; you were too sad that your time with Kuroo was ending.
“Well, it was really fun being your partner this year,” you said, and Kuroo cocked an eyebrow at you.
“Why do you sound like someone’s dying,” he joked, “Anyway, Kenma said he bought a new game, but it’s multiplayer. What time are you coming this weekend?”
Bitch, ya heart nearly jumped out of your chest.
For a little while, you were content with things being like that. You had become good friends with not just Kuroo, but Kenma as well. You guys weren’t always together, but definitely made a point to make time for each other.
While you guys were usually busy during the week, club activities, homework and school taking up most of your time, Saturdays at Kuroo’s had become a thing well into your third year. As much as possible, you would try to attend his games, and he would try to bring you snacks when he knows you’re stuck studying.
You tried really hard not to read into the things he would do for you.
Surely, he’s also held Kenma’s bag while walking him home, right?
He’s memorized his whole team’s schedule; it’s nothing special if he also has yours memorized.
You know that he only brought you lunch today because he had to share half of his when you forgot yours.
All normal friend stuff, right! Right?!
“I met a cute girl the other day,” he said to you absentmindedly one morning before class.
Wait. Your chest shouldn’t feel so tight, should it? Your eyes are swimming, and your head is floating. Every breath feels like lead in your lungs, and you kinda wished the ground would swallow you whole.
“Oh, Really?” you tried to be nonchalant, and hoped he didn’t notice the shakiness in your voice.
He nodded. “Yeah… she’s kinda funny.”
But you were really funny, weren’t you? You were the one that made him laugh like a hyena, made him clutch his stomach and gasp for breath, right?
“Is that so?” your mouth felt like sandpaper, “Why don’t you try taking her out on a date?”
You wish you had never said those words.
You knew the girl he was talking about; you had seen Kuroo approach her in the hallway.
She was your teammate in the track and field club; not one of the fastest, but she was beautiful, kind, friendly, and Kuroo was right – she really was kind of funny.
“You should have told him first, you know,” Kenma had mumbled from next to you once, eyes never leaving his game while yours quickly shot him a glare.
It was just the two of you at the lunch table – Kuroo mumbling an excuse about having plans with another “friend”.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Kenma just rolled his eyes. “Whatever.”
You spend the next few weeks avoiding him; it was easier since he didn’t sit next to you in class anymore, you weren’t really replying to his texts as often, you stopped visiting him and Kenma at practice, and you had missed the game you had told them you would try to go to.
You were kind of starting to realize that it was mostly you that had to go and seek them out.
Now that you weren’t doing these things… where was he?
You would catch a glimpse of Kuroo when he would visit your teammate during practice; he would try to greet you but you’d only shoot him a tight smile.
So when you heard a loud knock on your door at eight o clock in the evening, the last person you expected was the roosterhead himself.
“Hey,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, “I could tell something was bothering you, and I’ve been trying to give you your space, but… it’s been weeks now so, I just have to know… Are you avoiding me?”
You didn’t really know what to say, if there is even anything else to. Even with your head down and eyes trained to your feet, you could feel the burn of his gaze.
“I...” the deep timbre of his voice always managed to give you chills, “I miss you.”
Is he fucking serious right now? He’s so smart, yet he can’t put two and two together? He can see his opponents’ moves before they happen, yet he can’t even see you standing right in front of him?
“I have feelings for you, Kuroo,” you blurted out before you could stop yourself.
Kuroo’s eyes widened by a fraction, his mouth slightly hung agape, dumbfounded by your seemingly random confession.
Except, it wasn’t random to you. You’ve been harboring these feelings for months, and after hurting yourself by staying silent for so long, you decided that you deserve better.
You’ll accept whatever the outcome, if that’s the price for your peace.
“Y/N…” it took him a long time to finally speak, and you try to ignore the fact that this is the first time he’s called you by your first name.
His face clearly showed his struggle to get the words out. “I’m sorry, I didn’t… I –“
You raised your hand. You didn’t really want to hear any more than that.
“It’s okay,” you said, giving him a small smile.
And with that, you shut the door on Kuroo Tetsuro.
You do your best to move on, smiling and laughing with friends you wouldn’t usually talk to you, ignoring the ghost of your past that haunt you every time you walked passed by Kuroo and your teammate down the hall.
You throw back a laugh at whatever the person next to you had said, turning away to miss the fact that Kuroo’s eyes always followed you wherever you went.
Graduation day came and in the blink of an eye, your days at Nekoma were behind you.
The days passed, the seasons changed, the flowers bloomed, and then they died.
You started university, moving to a different city and living with the very same best friend whose betrayal to quench her own thirst became the catalyst for your greatest heartbreak.
You’ve forgiven her for that though, you guess.
Life in college was the breath of fresh air that you needed.
New things to learn, new places to discover, and new faces to help you forget the scars of old ones.
Years pass by, and while you’ve allowed yourself to feel the touch of others, allow them to make you laugh, allow them to make you cry, you’ve never really allowed yourself the luxury of falling in love again.
Who has time for that any way?
Definitely not you. You just needed to finish your undergrad, and get into med school.
You had plans for your life, you weren’t going to compromise your dreams just for another person, and no matter whom you dated or how much they liked you, this fact had always rubbed them the wrong way.
You were finally starting your last year at your undergrad, quite possibly one of the most important years of college, what with your thesis, med school applications, and your entire future pretty much on the line, no big deal.
Your first class of the day was chemistry. You had been avoiding the last chemistry class required by your degree, all of your friends telling you that it was one of the hardest classes they’ve ever taken, and so naturally, you ran away for as long as possible.
The class wasn’t due to start for another fifteen minutes when you walked in, giving you a perfect opportunity to grab a seat of your liking.
You ended up choosing one in the third row – you knew that if you sat in the back, you wouldn’t pay attention.
You take out your laptop, books, and all required materials, using this free time to check any emails from your professors.
You were checking the time – 5 minutes left until class started – when you were interrupted.
“L/N-chan?”
Your feel your body stiffen up at the sound of a voice you hadn’t heard in years.
You turn your head to your left, hoping to all the gods that maybe you were mistaken.
“Kuroo?” you said in disbelief, and oh honey… you could not believe he was standing right before you.
Kuroo seemed like he hadn’t changed at all. His hair seemed a little bit more managed, he was a little bit taller, his muscles filled out his shirt better… but he still had the same goofy smile on his face, and that undeniably mischievous twinkle in his eye.
“What are you doing here?” you blurted out. “I thought you went to a university in Tokyo?”
“I did, but I transferred this year,” he said, “This university has a great marketing program.”
“I can’t believe it,” you mumble out, more so to yourself than him, “It’s been years.”
He gave you a smile. “It has.”
He took the seat next to you, much to your surprise. You almost wanted to open your mouth in protest, but what could you say? ‘You can’t sit there’?
You were thankful that the class had only gone over the syllabus, because you didn’t hear a word the professor said.
When you told Eri about it later, she just laughed.
“I always thought Kuroo-san was a nice guy,” she commented, her back turned while she cooked the both of you dinner.
“I never said he wasn’t,” you said, throwing back the rest of the wine in your glass.
“What, you still like him or something?” Eri teased, plating the noodles she had created and setting it in front of you.
“Of course not,” you grumbled, stabbing at the plate with a fork, and the amused look on Eri’s face tells you that her silence was just to placate you.
The next few weeks of the semester went by without any incident.
Kuroo stayed in the seat next to you, and you didn’t let yourself wonder why.
You were proud at yourself for being able to talk to Kuroo the way that you were; he still made the same stupid chemistry jokes in high school, but now you felt like you could laugh at them without choking on the air around you.
It was easy.
Until it wasn’t.
“Alright everyone,” your professor began one rainy morning, “We’re about halfway through the semester, and this is usually around the time I like to assign a little project.”
All of a sudden, you felt a strange feeling of déjà vu.
“Now, it’s only going to be worth about a third of your grade in the class, so I suggest not slacking off on this one. This is going to require a partner, and before you go texting your bestie that you want to ‘link up’, I’ve taken the liberty of assigning your partner for you.”
Oh, Christ. You were praying you wouldn’t get partnered up with a dead weight.
“When I call your name, raise your hand so I could introduce you to your new partner.”
You waited patiently for your name to be called, but Kuroo’s had been called first.
“Kuroo Testuro.”
Kuroo raised his hand.
“Your partner will be... let’s see here… ah, L/N F/N!”
No. No fucking way.
Your arm involuntarily raised, the professor nodding his head in acknowledgement.
You slowly turn to face Kuroo, who had an unreadable smile placed on his lips, your professor’s voice droning on in the background.
“Well,” he said, laughter laced in his words, “Isn’t this familiar?”
At first, you felt incredibly apprehensive at the thought of being partnered with your high school crush, but at the end of the day, you were actually incredibly thankful.
Kuroo was just as smart and diligent as he was back then, and you had every confidence that your project was going to get the highest grade.
You tried to make it a point to meet in public places – cafes, libraries, and the like.
But soon, Kuroo suggested that it would just be easier and more comfortable to meet at either your place or his.
He only ever came by when Eri was home too, which would have been fine if the smirk on her face didn’t make you so nervous.
You noticed that his roommate was always around when you came over as well. You learned his name was Bokuto, and though he was a little loud, his presence was actually a little comforting.
Honestly, it all felt so… nostalgic. Whenever you would finish your work for the day, then the two of you would spend the time talking, catching up, and laughing at stupid jokes, almost as if the two of you were friends again.
Almost like nothing happened between you at all.
“Hey,” you started one day, curiosity getting the better of you after a particularly steamy conversation about past relationships, sitting on the floor with your iPad on your lap and homework strewn about all over the living room floor, “Whatever happened between you and that girl from high school?”
Kuroo just gave you a sad smile, and you thought she must have broken his heart pretty badly.
“Oh that…” he waved it off, “That was a mistake. A big one.”
You figured it was better not to ask any more questions.
Eri walked out of her room soon after Kuroo left that night, her arms crossed and leaning against the door’s archway as she watched you wash the dishes.
You guys are getting pretty close,” she mused.
She couldn’t see you roll your eyes. “Well, yeah, we were pretty good friends in high school.”
Eri let out a humorless laugh. “I stand by my statement that Kuroo-san is a nice guy,” she said, walking up next to you to place a hand on your shoulder, “But I haven’t forgotten how long it took you to get over what happened.”
Your hands stilled in the soapy water for a second, but you chose not to say anything.
“I’m just saying,” Eri started to walk back to her room, calling out her last words behind her shoulder, “Be careful.”
Eri’s words echoed in your head whenever you were with Kuroo.
Every time he offered to pay for your food, you made sure to insist you’d pay for it yourself. If he tried to grab your bag from your shoulder when you walked, you’d hold on tighter and say you were fine.
You didn’t avoid him like you did before, but you made every attempt to keep him at arm’s length.
It seems your attempts were all for nothing, however, when the semester ended.
“Amazing job,” were the words that came from your professor when giving your passing grade.
“We did it,” Kuroo said happily, the two of you making your way out of the class, “It’s finally over.”
“Thank god,” you laughed back.
“Hey,” Kuroo started, though he was looking at everywhere but you, “Bokuto’s gone and visiting his boyfriend for the weekend, but I was wondering if you wanted to come over for drinks later?”
You blinked, trying to even your breathing.
“You know, to celebrate the end of the semester, and acing that nightmare class.”
You should say no, right? Wait, but you’re grown now. You’ve moved on from what happened back then. The two of you did work really hard this semester, what’s wrong with celebrating your achievements?
“I think we’ve earned it,” Kuroo laughed.
“Yeah,” you said, and you were glad for it just from the smile that spread on his stupid face, “We really have! I’ll be there.”
“See you at eight?”
You nodded at his words as he waved goodbye, going your separate ways.
Ten hours later, you were sitting next to Kuroo on his living room floor, sake cup full to the brim as BNHA plays on his TV.
“Ah, Deku’s in the hospital,” Kuroo slurred, sake sloshing out of his cup when he pointed to the screen, “That’s a shot!”
The two of you threw back the warm liquid, and you were kind of worried that it didn’t taste like anything anymore.
“Kuroo,” you laughed, “We’re only on the second episode… and I think I’ve taken, like, twelve shots at this point.”
“This was your idea!”
“Well, I have another idea,” you started to get up, causing Kuroo to get up as well, “Let’s order take out!”
He laughed at your red face, agreeing with you.
You started to make your way to the couch, but all of a sudden, you felt dizzy, a head rush taking over your senses as you stumbled over your feet.
Kuroo caught you before you could hit the floor.
“You okay?” he laughed, and the sound of it elicited a laugh from your own lips.
In a second, the two of you erupted in giggles, snickering at nothing in particular while his strong arms still held you in place.
Suddenly, you were hyperaware of his touch on your skin, and you let your eyes trail from the strong hands around your waist, to the golden honey eyes that were already staring at your face.
You can’t exactly remember how, but the next thing you knew, you were pinned under Kuroo on his bed, his soft lips moving in tandem with yours while his hot tongue took over your whole mouth.
Your arms were looped around his neck, and he slid his calloused hands up your arm.
You felt his hands grip onto your wrists before he pulled them off his necked and pinned them onto the mattress.
You took in a deep breath once he disconnected from your mouth, planting a trail of kisses along your jaw line and down to your neck, before you slid his tongue across your supple skin.
You shivered, acutely aware of the fact that he has you trapped.
“Be careful,” Eri’s words echoed in your mind.
Fuck, you tried to think but it was hard when Kuroo just threw his shirt across the room, hovering over you with chiseled abs and defined muscles.
The heat returned to your body when he lowered his head, and popped a hard nipple into his mouth.
Your body arched at the feel of his teeth grazing against your skin, goosebumps racing when he dipped his hand beneath your underwear, a slender finger gliding down your folds before inserting into you.
You weren’t prepared for the intrusion, and he captured the gasp that came out of your mouth with his lips.
He was now holding down both of your wrists with one hand, never realizing that he was that much bigger than you.
He slid out his finger, bringing it to his mouth to give a long lick, before dipping his hand back down, and pushing in two.
You threw your head back when Kuroo curled his fingers, wondering how the hell he was able to find your g spot so quickly.
You felt like an animal caught in his trap, caged in with your arms pinned down, no choice but to let Kuroo draw out your orgasm while he pumped and curled into you, circling his thumb over your swollen clit.
Your legs were shaking while you screamed out his name, embarrassed that you were cumming so hard when he hasn’t even actually fucked you
He didn’t give you a chance to recover from your orgasm
In one swift movement, Kuroo let go of your hands and pulled out his fingers so he could grab a leg in each hand to fold you over in a press.
You don’t even know when Kuroo had taken his pants – or yours – off, and you didn’t have time to wonder.
A moan escaped your lips at the feel of his length filling you up, and you distinctly hear Kuroo tell you to say his name.
“Kuroo,” you moaned, bringing your hands to his shoulders, grasping at his body.
Every buck of his hips shot a jolt of pleasure throughout your body, unable to escape the feeling with Kuroo holding you down in place.
Who the hell would want to escape from here anyway?
“My first name,” he growled, quickening his pace when he felt your walls tighten around his dick.
“Tetsuro!” you screamed without a second thought, the brutal rhythm Kuroo has set driving heat onto your stomach, repeating his name over and over even after you feel your pussy gushing all over him, your cum dripping down from his shaft to his balls.
“Fuck,” Kuroo growled out, driving into you one last time before he spilled hot white, trying hard to catch his breath while coming down from this high.
The two of you lay together in the darkness for a while, your head on his chest and his arms around his shoulder.
The silence that surrounded the room was comfortable; almost like a bubble of peace that neither of you wanted to pop by saying anything.
“Be careful,” Eri’s fucking voice told you, yet again
While you didn’t regret what had just happened between you and Kuroo, doubts were beginning to creep in your mind.
What the hell was supposed to happen now? You’re not sure if Kuroo was expecting this outcome when he invited you over for drinks, but it happened, and you’re not really sure where to go from here.
You’ve already built a life for yourself – one that was truly yours – and you had a path that you had every intention to follow.
Would Kuroo be like every other guy and run away when he finds out you’re not compromising your plans for him? Would you even want to try to fit him into your plans?
You shake your head.
Jesus, get a grip. A guy dicks you down /once/, and all of a sudden you’re thinking about this shit?
“Y/N? You okay?” He asked from beside you.
You lift your head from his chest, sitting up so you could lean your back against his headboard. Kuroo was quick to mirror your actions.
“Kuroo,” you begin to tell him, and he frowned a little at the sound of his last name, “That was… amazing.”
Kuroo blushed a little at your compliment, though he knew it didn’t stop there. “…But?”
“But,” you bit your lip, “I’m not really looking for anything serious right now.”
Kuroo didn’t respond right away, but maybe that’s because you just kept babbling. “It’s just… I have so much going on with school, not to mention grad school applications are due in a few months, and who knows which university I’ll end up going to after graduation…”
You finally had the courage to look at him, and you caught a glimpse of what you would have thought was sadness in his eyes if it hadn’t been blinked away so quickly, soon replaced with that same unreadable smile.
“Whatever you want, Kitten,” he replied, “This doesn’t have to be anything more than what it is.”
You let out a breath of relief.
He walked you home that night (or morning, considering it was 1am), still trying your best to set boundaries even though you pretty much let him thoroughly wreck you.
He didn’t give you a kiss goodbye, instead sheepishly waving when he sees you entering the door to your apartment, saying he’ll shoot you a text tomorrow.
You thought things would be weird between the two of you after that night, but you were happy to find that it wasn’t.
You had managed to rekindle your friendship with Kuroo – meeting up to study, grabbing lunch if you had the time, maybe catching the occasional movie.
Though, you didn’t tell Eri about the added benefits.
(Kuroo Tetsu-hoe) Today: 12:37AM
You up?
[To: Kuroo Tetsu-hoe] Today: 12:49AM
Yeah, doing my Lit. paper.
(Kuroo Tetsu-hoe) Today: 12:50AM
Wanna do me instead?
[To: Kuroo Tetsu-hoe] Today: 12:58AM
Say less.
ou didn’t have to tell Eri about the added benefits – she wasn’t dumb, where else would her roommate be going in the middle of night?
You’ve had other men before, going through your fair share of sexual experiences before climbing into bed with Kuroo.
But he was still managing to show you new things, reaching spots you never even knew existed before, putting his mouth in places that made your eyes water and lungs burn from gasping for air.
You can’t explain the feeling you get when he’s running his hands across your body, and when he stares at you and nothing but you while he’s pumping into you and making you feel so full in more ways than one, it’s something akin to a chemical reaction.
There was one time, when he took a belt, secured it against his head post before he brought your legs up to –
“Earth to Y/N,” Kuroo said, waving a hand in front of your face.
“Sorry,” you said, shrugging your shoulders, “I was having a flashback.”
Kuroo smirked, knowing exactly what you meant.
The two of you were lying in bed, your back against his chest and a strong arm wrapped around your waist.
You laid your hand on top of his, fiddling with his fingers and reveling in the calm that always came from being with Kuroo.
“What you thinking about?” You ask, and the way he stiffened up in your grip let you know that something really was bothering him.
It took him a little longer than you’d like before he replied.
“Do you ever feel like… you want more?”
This time, it was you that stilled in his arms.
“Be Careful.”
You turned around to face Kuroo.
“I thought we talked about this?”
Kuroo’s eyes searched your face, for what, you have no idea. But you stared back with just as much intensity, hoping that he would find the answer he was looking for.
Fear. That’s what was written all over your face.
Kuroo let out a humorless laugh. “Forget I said anything.”
He stood up to put his boxers on and slipping on a shirt before heading out onto the balcony that was attached to his room.
You gave him a few moments before getting up to gather your clothes from the floor, silently putting them on before you joined him outside.
You find him leaning against the balcony railing on his forearms, a cigarette lit in one hand.
He doesn’t turn his head towards you, but he does offer his cigarette, and you take it quietly.
You bring the white filter to your lips, taking a deep drag, closing your eyes when you feel your head get lighter, and releasing the smoke from your lungs.
“Kuroo,” you started, voice nothing but a soft whisper, “I’m sorry… I didn’t – “
He raised a hand to stop you.
“It’s fine,” he replied. “Like I said, forget I mentioned anything.”
He smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes.
“Hey,” he said, taking his cigarette back from you and taking a drag himself, “Kenma’s having a party this weekend. They’re inviting over some old classmates from Nekoma. He says he misses you. You should come.”
Your ears perk up at the invitation, excited at the thought of seeing your old friend and a little happy that he’s moving past the subject.
"Kenma? Is having a party?”
Kuroo laughed. “Alright. Yaku is having a party, but we’re doing it at Kenma’s place. It’s actually not that far from here, just one train ride.”
You chuckled, shaking your head knowingly.
“Yeah, I’ll go,” you agreed, “But, uhm… I’ll just meet you there?”
Kuroo nodded. “Yeah. I’ll just meet you there.”
You didn’t see Kuroo the rest of that week.
You weren’t sure what it was – he wasn’t ignoring you, he replied to your text messages and answered your calls.
But he hadn’t once asked you to come over. And after what happened that night, you were scared to ask him to come over.
The night of Kenma’s party came, and you entered to find way more people than you had expected. You didn’t recognize more than half of the people there, but relief washed over you when Yaku threw an arm around your shoulder.
You didn’t see Kuroo right away when you arrived, but you were too distracted at the joy from seeing some of your old classmates.
You were half way through a game of beer pong with Lev as your partner before Kuroo was able to make an appearance.
He made his rounds, saying his greetings to everyone before stopping at you, giving you a friendly one armed hug.
You didn’t want to admit that you were a bit sad at the generic greeting.
Was it because maybe… you want…. mor –
“Y/N! Shoot the damn ping pong ball,” Lev exclaimed, and you were shook out of your reverie.
Kuroo excused himself, saying he was going to the kitchen to make himself a drink, but you were too focused on winning your game to notice.
Before you knew it, you lost three to two against Kenma and Yamamoto, cursing at Lev for forcing you to carry the team on your back.
By this point, the alcohol had spread all through your system. You were still able to walk straight, but with considerable effort. The words that came out of your mouth were just a little slurred, and you were kind of having a hard time controlling the volume of your voice.
“Where’s Kuroo?” you asked Yaku, who instantly shot a hand up to rub his ear.
“Jesus, woman, you don’t have to yell, I am /right here,” he grumbled, but he still let you sling an arm around his shoulders for support. “I thought he went into the kitchen to get some drinks?”
That’s right, he said that. But that was hours ago. Where could he be?
You stagger away from Yaku, pushing your way past unfamiliar bodies to get to the kitchen.
The first thing you saw when you tripped into the kitchen was Kuroo, dressed in a fitted black shirt and blue jeans, looking every bit the Greek God he was as he leaned against the counter. His arms were crossed atop his broad chest, a drink in one hand.
He was talking to someone, and you thought you recognized the long black hair that flowed from the back of their head, but were too distracted studying the veins that protruded from Kuroo’s forearms.
You opened your mouth to call out to him when the person in front of him stepped up, pressing their body into his. She uncrossed his arms and snaked two long arms around his neck.
You recognized her in that instant.
It was his ex from high school.
Looking down, you were surprised to see your clothes dry, because it felt like someone poured a bucket of ice water directly on top of your head.
“Be careful,” Eri’s words echoed in your head for the ten millionth time.
Yet here you were
In the same exact place you were a little over three years ago.
You scoffed at yourself.
Well, there’s nothing else for you here now, is there?
You shoot Yaku and Kenma a quick text in a group chat to let them know you were leaving.
The air outside was cold, your breath coming out in puffs. You wrapped your jacket around a little tighter, cursing yourself silently for not wearing a scarf cause it’ll ‘ruin the outfit.’
“Hey, the party’s that way.”
The sudden voice behind you nearly made you jump ten feet in the air.
“Jesus, you really are like a fucking cat.”
Kuroo chuckled.
For some reason, the sound made you angry. You kept walking, following the path of dimmed street lights that led you to the train station.
“Yeah, but home’s this way.”
His heavy footsteps trailed behind you.
“Great, I was getting tired of the party anyway.”
“What are you doing here?” You finally turned your head to him and asked.
Your voice was surprisingly clear and even, despite the unsteadiness of the ground beneath you.
“What do you mean? I’m walking you home.”
“Why?”
“Because it’s late, and you’re my friend.”
‘Friend’. The word made you wince, even though you were the one that drilled the idea into his head.
“I saw you talking to your ex,” you grumbled, crossing your arms and turning the other direction.
You could practically feel his smirk.
“Oya? Is that jealousy I’m hearing in those words?”
You felt your face get hot.
“Of course not!”
- “I thought we were just friends?”
“Will you shut up for once in your life, idiot!”
He wanted to tease you some more, but was stopped by the pensive look on your face.
“Why would you leave the girl that broke your heart behind just to walk me home?”
Kuroo looked at you with a confused expression.
“Girl that broke my heart?”
You nodded. “When I asked you about her, you said she was a big mistake.”
Kuroo stopped walking. You turned your head back to look at him curiously when he doubled over in a full bellied laugh.
“Are you laughing at me?!” You asked incredulously, giving him a glare from where you stood.
“You... you think she’s the one that broke my heart?”
Kuroo wiped a fake tear from his eye.
“Wow. That was a good one.”
“What the hell are you going on about, Kuroo?”
The jovial look on Kuroo’s face slowly faded, the entertained smile on his face shrinking his lips into a thin line.
“Y/N, she didn’t break my heart.”
Now it was your turn to be confused.
“You want to know why I said she was a big mistake?” Kuroo took a step towards you, “It was because of her that I lost you.”
Your jaw dropped.
Kuroo ran his fingers through his hair, ruining the perfectly waxed locks that he had spent thirty minutes styling.
“Please don’t run away when I tell you this.”
You couldn’t move your feet even if you wanted to.
“The only reason I ever brought her up to you in the first place was because I wanted to see your reaction. I wanted to know if you would get jealous. But without hesitation, you told me that I should just go ahead and date her, and you know dumb young men and their pride... then... it just... snowballed into something I didn’t even...”
Kuroo couldn’t finish his sentence.
Your vision begins to shake.
“But... but I confessed to you!”
“Yeah, then you slammed the door in my face and stopped talking to me!”
You couldn’t deny that.
“Do you have any idea how confusing that was for a teenage boy? I had no idea what the hell was going on, one day, I blinked and I was stuck with a girl I didn’t love while I watched my best friend smile and laugh and walk passed me like I never even existed.”
You swallowed the guilty lump that was caught in your throat.
“All I knew was that you weren’t around anymore; you weren’t there to make me laugh with your dumb jokes, you weren’t coming over and leaving your presence all over my room, nothing, it was all gone, and it all felt so fucked up. Being without you felt so fucked up.”
Had Kuroo always felt this way? Were you really so busy running away from him that you couldn’t even see that he was hurting too?
“Now the universe or the gods or whatever brought me back to you, and it’s like everything makes sense again, and fuck, all I want to do is just show you how much I’ve missed you, how much I care, how much I love you.”
You gasped, and you were waiting for Kuroo to try and take those words back, but the resolve was painted in his eyes.
“But all you do is just keep me at arms length. You wanted to be just friends when I wanted everything.”
You choked back a sob, tears were now steadily streaming down your face.
Kuroo closed the space between you, wrapping one arm around your waist while bring his other head to wipe at your tears with the pad of his thumb.
“She wasn’t the girl that broke my heart. You were.”
He moved to place his fingers on your chin, tilting your head up to force you to look at his eyes.
He wanted you to see that he meant every single word.
“If this is all you’re willing to give me, I’ll take it. I’ll break my own heart. Every day, over and over again, if that’s what it takes to be with you.”
His voice was in a whisper now, bringing his lips to kiss both sides of your cheeks.
“Because I love you.”
He brought his hands to cup for your face before pulling you in for a kiss.
This wasn’t anything like you’ve ever experienced before.
Every time his tongue brushed against yours, you felt all the love adoration he was trying to convey in this one physical act, hoping he could transfer it all into your lips.
It felt like time stopped just for the two of you, to have this moment in the middle of the sidewalk, bathed in the orange glow of the street light that hung above you.
He pulled away finally, resting his forehead on yours for just a second before he engulfed you with his arms.
His head rested on top of yours, feeling the vibrations as he spoke.
“I’m going to ask you one more time,” he said nervously. “Do you want something more?”
You wiggle out of his grip just so you can move your hands up to caress his cheek.
“Tetsuro... I love you so much.”
Later that night, in the safety of your room and away from Eri’s judgmental eyes at the two of you stumbling in and giggling through the door, you trace small circles on Kuroo’s chest with your fingers while Kuroo had an arm wrapped around you tightly.
“Hey, Tetsu,” you broke the silence with a whisper, “What if I end up going to grad school that was... further away?”
Kuroo couldn’t help but smile and shake his head. You were never going to change.
Not like he would ever want you to.
“Y/N... we didn’t talk for three years, and not once did I stop thinking about you. A little distance isn’t going to get rid of me.”
You try to bury your face in embarrassment.
If he had to spend every day of the rest of his life reassuring you that he’ll be by your side no matter what, well - that’s just too easy.
You find yourself holding onto him a little bit tighter, making a silent vow that never again were you going to push away Kuroo Tetsuro.

Norray halloween week Day 1: Ghosts!
If curious, below are some random info about this Teacher/ghost AU
Ray got a gun and he can use it. The ghost gun isn’t able to touch, much less physically hurt anyone, but it replicate the sound of a real gun, which contributed a lot to how low priced his haunted house rent has become. It nearly gave Norman a heart attack the first time he heard it.
After being dead for a while, Ray learned how to turn visible and invisible at will and play around small objects such as paper, shoes and butcher knives. He can control up to 4 small objects at a time or something relativaly heavy like a chair if he really concentrate. The more he got the hang of controling and moving small objects the lower his house rent become, rarely getting aggressive but still able to physically hurt people. On All Hallows Eve he can posses people’s bodies and get out of the house he haunts, but he always ends up back to his empty ‘home’ when the night is over.
Ray is an incredibly fast learner. Just by observing the people that visits his house, he learned a decent amount of modern english and understand the basics of how tecnology is a  thing now -he wished this advanced tecnology was invented when he was alive. It would make the of lack of food and nutrients less of a deadly nightmare in open sea.
As a pirate, Ray used to be the one in charge of doing most of the bloody work and take the night watch, protecting his captain’s back from both outside and inside forces. He was constantly alert, borderline paranoic. But as the years in death passed, he grew more calm, very patient. He usually don’t mind new people in his house, happy to learn more modern english and befriend the guests willing to tolerate him. If a new guest cross a line however,  Ray will do his best to scare them away. Hurt them or kill them by manipulating knives if he sees fit.
It’s very rare for adults to see Ray as anything other than a nonsense they have no energy to deal with or a warning sign for their crumbling lives, so he usually hang around kids. The childish company mellows him with time.
Ray is from a time where death was common and getting hurt was inevitable so what people consider pretty serious is something Ray considers mild “Why are you being so dramatic about seeing some bone? Be grateful your hand is still attached to your wrist after you slaped your daughter. If it wasn’t for her wishes you wouldn’t have legs to run away.”
Norman is considered a genius and have countless prizes under his belt. He wanted to go to the moon when he was a kid but because of his weak health, he knew he would not be acepted in the space program. He decided teaching was the next best thing later on, accepted as a teacher in a prestigious school while still young. He enjoys and understand all subjects but love history the most, unable to deny it was hard and frustrating to teach a whole class of teens at times but still liking his job. Having one student that was genuinaly interested in his class was more than enough to make his day.
When Norman first started teaching, he felt more responsable than he had his whole life. It wasn’t a bad feeling per see, but it made him anxious so he called his little sister Cherry once a week to ask her questions about her teachers and make sure he was doing a good job.
Norman may not be the funniest of teacher but he’s still a favorite for his palpable cares for his students. He does not make the subject easier than is requested but he put a lot of effort into making people enjoy their world history, teaching with passion and seriously answering any questions, no matter how silly or joking it sounds. He’s understanding and try his best to help those with dificulty with the subject, always giving people second chances, having lost countless nights of sleep correcting re-writen essays after deadlines and turning his test questions into podcasts for students with adhd, aware the big historical excerpts are fundamental for answering the test but too hard to focus, specially with limited time.
The lambda crew are problem children. Norman went the extra mile to save Barbara and Zazie from failing classes even outside history and left Vincent startruck with his wide knowladge about not only world history but a ton of subjects he could be teaching too if he wasn’t overworking himself. Norman is both happy to inspire the squad to study hard and also very awkward by their blind admiration.
The teacher had a firm “ghost don’t exist”  mentality, which is one of the reasons he brought the haunted house in the first place. He had chalked Ray up as an halucination from his sleep deprived brain, having the rotten luck of buying the house right after a bad guest owned. The ghost got more annoyed than usual from things as insignificant as Norman keeping the lights on for too long, putting music Ray doesn’t vibe with, or just acting unfairly cute, to more personal matters such as Norman studying about Ray and his family lives. They used to have a distant and bad relationship but once Ray noticed Norman had only admiration for history, being genuinaly kind when trying to talk instead of mocking his existence, Ray apologised. Norman was still wary at first but they quickly hit off, enjoying to learn what the other had to offer and matching in wits.
When Norman catch a fever or a bad cold Ray gets wary. He know, on some level, that medicine have evolved a lot, but he remenbers way too clearly how serious even the weakest of diseases could get if not imediatly treated.  He always stick by Norman’s side when the teacher sneezes, not taking his eyes off him. Usually Norman keep working when he catch a cold, so Ray learned to float Norman’s grading papers out of his reach when coughing joined his sneezes. Floating a paper is enough to get Norman to take a break most of the time, but if the get stubborn Ray will stop playing nice. Just lower his voice to comander mode and order “Rest. Now. Or I’ll make your life a living hell.” and Norman does what he’s told, it’s very unconfortable to have a gun in the face and he does feel very tired.
When Norman is seriously sick, not just coughing but stuck to his bed. Ray freak out and fear for his life. When it reached this level, most of his crewmates died or had to be thrown in the sea to not infect other. Yes Ray know it’s not as bad anymore, but even when he observed guests, they rarely got sick, and when it got bad they where taken to a doctor. Norman lives alone so he got no one to feed him and bring him blankets or take him to the doctor if he lies for hours in bed. Ray was all the help he would get and he is fucking dead, he can’t measure his temperature or take care of him properly. Ray does tries his best though. He concentrated a lot to float heavy blankets and pillows towards Norman. Imediatly fetching any pills asked of him and doing his best to make him tea. It isn’t tasty, but Norman still appreciates his care.
Ray is the first to fall in love, he think “If only I could  kiss this fool and hug him, I would do it on the daily. I wish he was alive back then... He would love meeting Emma...” at least once a week but a big part of him is just “Forget scurvy! Norman would die of cold or malnutricion before he reached 10. Thank god the helpless bastard took his sweet time to be born.”
Ray cannot touch any eletronics, he can’t even come close without phones, computers, and tvs turning to statics, so Norman buys an illustrated book about the Red Mane Pirates for Ray to see his crew again. He know is not perfect but is the best he can offer whenever Ray expresses missing his family.
They read together. Norman occasionally teaching a new word to his ghost and Ray correcting any historical inacuracy. It’s fun.
Norman finds an illustration of an alive Ray sleeping in the mast waaay too beautiful. Ray snort at the romantized draw, disolving into laughter by how Norman failed to hide his blush.
It became a habit to read history books together and tease each other. More often then not, it lead to a history class and way to much sass on both ends.
“Wait, so there really was a world war? I heard about it from old guests but I thought they were exagerating when they called world war! And what do you mean 2? There was a second one??”
“How did miss the second one? It was HUGE, quite horribl-”
“You were not even alive when it happened.”
“Tecnically, you weren’t either Ray-”
Ray is a bit scared of how attached he got to Norman, knowing eventually the man would die. He hopes it will take a long time, and that once he had a painless death, he will become a ghost too, but he doesn’t really believe Norman will ever turn into a ghost. Ray knows not everyone that dies became a ghost. Since someone as compassionable as Emma -even if she was forced to have blood and dirty choises on her hand to survive the merciless seas- was not cursed to became a ghost, he was confident someone as kind as Norman would dissapear from Ray’s afterlife once he died too.

Arthur, Mind, Something Old, Cute and Sweet
Approx. 1200 words of fluffiness
Arthur glared at his typewriter. It was a modern Dactyle. Modern! He laughed. His grandfather wouldn’t have bothered with this mechanical monstrosity. The blasted thing was stuck again. Letters ‘N’, ‘E’, and ‘S’.
He wanted his last typewriter back. It was - would be - a slick Remington portable, in blue. The keys had a smooth, firm slide and didn’t blotch the page. But Comte hadn’t brought it back to the mansion after their deal and now he was stuck with . . . well, this thing.
“Aren’t you supposed to be writing?”
Arthur turned to the doorway with a grin. “I can think of some things I’d much rather do.” He waggled his eyebrows.
She laughed as expected. “I can see we aren’t making much progress here. Got writer’s block?”
“Something like that, luv.” He pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Then I know just the thing.” She held her hand out to him.
Arthur accepted her hand and stood up. “Are we going some place then?”
“We are.” She grinned mischievously.
“Your room,” he asked hopefully.
She shook her head. “Not quite.”
“Then I’m quite flummoxed. Where else does a pretty skirt lead her lover to midday?” He wasn’t as confused as he let on. His lady love was wearing button leather boots and a skirt that fell short of her ankles. He had only to add that to the flush in her cheeks and the fluff of fur on her hem to deduce they were going outside and that Vic was sure to be a party to their little break.
He snagged a sunhat for her on the way out, holding it in his freehand until she’d led him down the steps. Arthur settled it over her hair and tied the ribbon under her chin.
“H-how did you know I’d need this?”
Arthur leaned close. “Just a guess. If I’m right, do I get a kiss?”
She giggled and pressed a warm kiss to his lips. It was as sweet and slow as the summer afternoon, and he never wanted it to end, but she pulled back to smile at him shyly. “Vic is running about without a leash. We should probably -”
“Ah yes. Sebastian was quite cross the last time Vic dug an extra hole in the flower bed.” He held his hand out to her. It wasn’t much of a mystery where the dog ran off to. Victoria had a penchant for the tulips, especially on hot days.
That’s where she was too. Rolling about in the dirt with the happiest look on her face.
“Oh Vic. You’ll need another bath now.”
Arthur laughed. “She’s always been a naughty little thing.” He helped get the pup leashed, brushing bits of dirt from her long hair.
“I thought she’d stay on the porch. I told her to stay.” She huffed a bit at the dog, but couldn’t stay angry. Vic was just too cute.
The three of them walked to the forest edge, where the leaves made patterns of light and shadow on the soft grass. Victoria jumped and snapped at passing june beetles and floating butterflies. And the two lovers held hands as they passed under the whispering boughs.
Arthur sat down at the edge of the creek that ran along one edge of le Comte’s lands. It was narrow here, and shallow. Perfect to cool off. “Come on my pretty bird. Let’s take a rest here.”
She sat down beside him. “I think you picked a good spot.”
“I was just following you,” he laughed.
“Well, I was just walking.”
Arthur started unlacing his shoes. “You mean to tell me you didn’t have a spot picked out? No destination?”
“No. I just thought it might help you to get out of the mansion for a little bit. When I was writing my blog, it always helped me to go for a walk. It cleared up my mind so I could focus on what I wanted to say.” She waved her hand dismissively. “Not that it’s the same thing, of course.”
She’d told him before what a blog was. Some sort of public journal. He found the notion fascinating, especially when she’d explained how there were many kinds of ‘blogs’ and ‘fandoms’ and ‘web-sites’ for people to read and engage the writer on. “Say,” he asked suddenly. “What kind of typewriter did you use for that blog? I imagine they only get better.”
“Well . . . most people don’t use typewriters in my time. They’re antiques. We have computers.” She grinned. “I think you’d like them. Information at the tip of your fingers, and no need to rewrite a page to make an edit.”
Arthur groaned. “To have such tools! You think we could talk le Comte into bringing one here the next time he uses the door?”
She laughed. “Probably not? I mean, you’d need the right kind of power supply and there’s no internet . . . I think you’ll just have to wait for it.”
“Blast. No short cuts, eh?” Arthur gave a wry chuckle. “I suppose there’s no help for it then.”
He regarded her from the corner of his eye. “Do you still write about your travels?”
She ducked her head, embarrassed. ”I just make some notes in a journal. Where we’ve been, stuff we’ve done.”
“I’d like to read it. Your blog too!”
He was rewarded with a wide-eyed look and a blush that spread from cheeks to ear-tip. “It’s . . . nothing special! You were there for most of it!”
Arthur shrugged. “It might inspire me. And teach me a bit more about you. The greatest mystery this hack author ever tried to solve.” He tapped her nose with a tip of his finger. “Now put your legs this way so I can help you with your boots.”
“What?” She wasn’t sure what part to reply to, but she did put her legs across his lap.
He ran his hand up her leg, caressing her calf. Arthur was sure she had the nicest legs of any skirt he’d ever chased. He undid the buttons and tugged off her socks, then set them next to his shoes.
“Did you mean that?”
Arthur grinned. “Of course I did, luv. Now put your feet in the water. It feels like a bit of heaven. There you go.”
She poked his arm. “That’s not what I meant. I mean the part where you said . . . I might inspire you?”
In that moment, she looked so vulnerable. Every bit the innocent rabbit he’d seen her as those first days at the mansion. “You inspire me every moment since you stepped through that door. I haven’t written a thing that wasn’t touched by you.” Arthur bit his lower lip, embarrassed by his confession but unable to stop the words. “You are always there, haunting my imagination. I worry sometimes . . . that I’ve dreamt you up. That you couldn’t possibly exist. And that I’ll wake and find you gone.” He stopped, realizing he said more than he intended.
She took his hand and settled it on her chest.
He could feel her racing pulse, the thundering gallop of that sweet and gentle heart.
“You didn’t dream me,” she told him. “And I’m not going anywhere.”
They sat like that for a long while, listening to the water as it rolled over stones. The song of birds in the nearby trees. Their mingled breath and the rhythm of two hearts in love.
