In the aftermath of Wen Ruohan’s trial, Song Lan put in a request for a two-month leave from work and took Xiao Xingchen down to Chongqing for the summer.

“I’m still recovering,” he said, when Xingchen made worried noises about Song Lan having been away from the office for a total of four months out of that year. “Don’t worry, Xingchen. What with the trials still going on, I’ll be surprised if Wangji makes it back to Tianyun before Christmas.”

So they packed their bags and went to Chongqing, armed with a list of things to do and see while they were there.

"Bonus mom" sounds so sweet!.. This kinda calls for the Jin moms' club, although I'm afraid that at least Madam Jin and Meng Shi would stare (concealed, in thr latter's case) daggers at one another.

Meng Shi is unfortunately deceased ;-; and Madam Jin and Madam Qin weren't on the best terms before Jin Guangshan's arrest because JGS regularly used to flirt with a very unwilling Madam Qin, and Madam Jin...did not take her frustration out on the right person. They do make up eventually, but an actual friendship is out of the question.

bakery bao xiao-yu's toddler coffee corner has a regular stream of toddler customers? they like mimicking the adults - they'll order a coffee, xiao-yu will give them an (empty) cup of "coffee," and kid will drink. The kids usually "pay" in loose change or other pocket findings.

This is how Xiao-Yu ends up being handed a very tired bee missing two of its legs - one of his preschool friends found the bee on the sidewalk outside and brought it into the bakery for sugar water. Xiao-Yu is heartbroken, but also determined to nurse the bee back to health and give it a good environment to live in. 😤
