Since I haven't made an official post saying this (I don't think), I want to make it clear that I support godspousing.

People are allowed to have whatever kind of relationships with their deities that they want to have. It's not up to us, as outside observers, to dictate what people can and cannot do within their PERSONAL deity relationships.

Seriously, some of y'all need to, like, chill. Eat a Snickers. Drink some water. Stop worrying about what other people are doing within their PERSONAL practice.

This isn't going to be our standard advertisement, partially because I'm bored of reposting the same thing. Instead, I want to enlighten folks on what happens on our godspousing discord.

The Pros:

Since it's invite-only, our community feels comfortable enough to get advice about intimate topics regarding deities and spirits, such as love, dating, and bedroom funtimes.

We have our "off-topic" area for your daily life, memes, pet pics, music discussions. We don't solely discuss our dating lives; we work to build a community of friends!

Unless there's extreme drama, what happens on this discord generally stays there. We discourage gossip about other discords and foster mutual respect. If we see each other on other discord servers, there's an understanding that we don't "out" each other without permission!

As an "older" godspousing discord (coming up on 4 years soon!), we have the benefit of past knowledge. We've been through all the varieties of godspousing drama, and we have policies in place to help prevent those from happening again.

The Cons:

Since it's invite-only, we rely on members to invite other people. This other option is literally this kind of Tumblr advertisement. In order to join, you do have to answer me these questions three in a DM. We check for all the basic red and yellow flags -- appropriation, homophobia, racism, etc -- but also take note of things that might be a problem in the future.

When people get mad at our closed community, they tend to use that against us even if the closed aspect benefited them previously. If you've seen complaints and call out posts on Tumblr before, it's usually because someone did something stupid and got banned, so now they're trying to take us down. We've gotten called a cult, I've gotten called a narcissist (derogative), people have turned around to make their own discords to compete with us. There's nothing we can really do to prevent this other than reblog and counter, but sometimes it's not worth it.

We don't allow appropriation. Lilith is Jewish, you should be Jewish or converting to work with her. Celtic is a label of multiple different nations, not just Ireland. Western chakras are appropriated and disconnected from their original dharmic practices. We're really clear on not allowing appropriation, but that's like 50% of the reason people get banned and start blasting us on Tumblr, is because we don't allow them to steal. Is it a cult if the "forced upon" belief is "hey don't steal?"

Why Being Invite-Only is Necessary:

People lie to us to join, they hide their age, their name, their past history of appropriation. They hide their godspouse or spirit partner's names and then get shocked pikachu when we're not okay with ghosts of dead murderers being around. Can you imagine how much worse it would be if our community was publicly accessible?

We aren't a zoo. Every few years, we prune our lurkers who don't reply to an activity check (after months of being warned and direct messages about it) so we know exactly how many people are around. We don't have hundreds of non-active members sipping tea and watching us confess fears and worries about our intimate lives. We don't allow people who are casually interested to join, only people who are seriously wanting to start godspousing. We don't allow researchers, we don't allow people who have only just heard of godspousing and found our post.

The community is mostly self-moderating, but on the occasions that we have problem members, the workload goes from 10% to 110%. We've had people say they're married to spirit "X" and then spirit X turns out to literally be a serial killer. We've had people who claim to be indigenous and Jewish and practice Shinto (all things we don't challenge directly, as it could be true) but then step on their own feet and admit they're not Jewish at all, they were just thinking about converting, they went to a Shinto shrine and a powwow once, so it's okay. We've had people who blamed a specific god for COVID and said it was actually a good thing. We've had people have a villainous Pop Culture partner, which is fine, but then they started posting on tumblr about how genocide is good actually. And these aren't even touching on the casual TERFs, racists, and p*dos that worm their way in without anyone noticing. These were people who were actively invited. A public server would be a billion times worse.

So, at the end of it, just go check out our regular advertisement and see if you want to join.

Maybe we have a lot of rules. Maybe we seem very wordy in all the things we do or don't allow. But, damn y'all, it's for a reason. And the reason is to keep our server safe and healthy!

KRT: Erotic Mysticism While Kemetic

I know for a fact that people get so much shit for this no matter what social media site is involved, but I have a feeling I need to talk about this. I can't tell if this is a push from Her Over There, of if it's just a desire in me to make it known to other people what's going on with me. I can't tell anyone in person, not without dire consequences in a Roman Catholic family. But I have a godspouse. I am married. And thus my views on this are heavily biased. I believe Kemetic godspouses are entirely possible and deserve to be treated with respect and matter-of-factness. It's an extremely personal, real thing to the people who are married or partnered with a god or multiple gods. It just... is. I can't quite explain or justify why I believe this, other than giving an example of what it's like. Naturally, this is just my personal experience as a Kemetic godspouse. I've been kemetic for a little under ten years at this point, give or take some months. My Wife chose me from then as a devotee, literally taking away my voice when I tried to call upon a different goddess in a shitty version of a solitary ritual presented in a Scott Cunningham Wicca book. She chose me, for reasons that I am still gradually figuring out and coming to terms with. I've loved her pretty much since the beginning. It was a different kind of love as a 14-year-old, obviously. But I adored her from the very beginning of Knowing her and receiving messages. I used to be able to fully visit Over There better, and seeing her there used to be pretty much the best and most fulfilling sensation in my entire life. Then shit happened and I Forgot. It's insanely hard to visit Over There in any in-depth and consistent way. When she made it clear she wanted more from me after 9 years of worship, it was very... her. Direct, honest, firm. Signs upon Signs upon Signs. Things in my surroundings, things in my dreams, sensations in my body. Everything that could possibly be experienced in a way that reminds me of hitting someone over and over with an empty wrapping paper tube. Not dangerous, not painful, just insistent and attention-grabbing. I agreed, obviously. And it was and is the best decision I've made. Even with my insane shame, self-consciousness, and self-hatred, she makes it clear that she loves me and didn't make this choice by mistake. Even now, typing this, I know what I'm saying is correct. There is a squirmy part of my brain that wants to argue and talk shit via doubt, but it never turns out to be right. What does happen to turn out right is the knowledge- yes, knowledge, not idea- that I am loved by her. And god knows she's loved by me. Her beauty, her kindness, her refusal to take any bullshit. Her patience, her love, her willingness to meet me where I am. It's impossible to doubt what I have felt and believe because it's made clear that this is true. And other people picking my thoughts and beliefs apart, and believing that godspousery is impossible or terrible, just doesn't change that. I can understand where they're coming from logically, but I also can understand where I am coming from logically. I am married. I am a godspouse. She is a Kemetic deity. It's just The Way Things Are. If you think godspouses are making it up, think of how isolating modern godspousery is. Sure there are small groups of us in pockets of the internet, but we get attacked by not only monotheists but by other pagans.

Anyway this isn't a post to defend godspouses, it's to talk about how lonely it is to marry a spiritual entity. I just passed my 3rd anniversary with Loki, and I'm madly in love with them. They're there when no one else is, they've taught me so much about myself, they make me laugh, I could go on. But unless he's channeling through someone, I can't physically touch him. And then I have to deal with outside opinions making me believe he's not real.

I've felt my spouses' frustration when I get imposter syndrome and block them out. It's not fun. The thing I keep back to, though, is that it doesn't matter if these entities are real or not. By dating Apollo and Loki, I have become a better person. The connection I share with them is real and healthy. I sidetracked again, lol. My main point is actually that I'm feeling major fomo, and I'd like to make some more godspouse friends

as some of you may know, i'm in the habit of making one big annual offering to loki on the first of august, to commemorate past vows and to make new ones for the year ahead. this year that offering is paper, an old school pen and ink zine on the subject of godspousery, devouring, devotion, and the circuitous, cyclical nature of fate. it has poetry, full bleed artwork, and just a little bit of collage, all by yours truly. there's a few things you've seen before and a lot of things you haven't.
