Ch. 1110 has me gnawing at the bars of my enclosure. Like obviously everything with the rest of the Gorosei showing up, but that scene between Zoro and Sanji?????
Sanji calling Zoro a burden/liability (depending on translation) feels so cruel and removed from their usual bickering. And I think it shows with how Zoro reacted. He doesn't fire back an insult, doesn't say ANYTHING to Sanji in response and instead just quickly finishes the fight with Lucci.
I desperately need something to come from this moment, and not have it just be played off as a gag. I need this to be something that sticks with Zoro - for a little while at least. First Lucci called him dead weight, which he just shrugged off. But then to have Sanji say a near identical thing with no indication of him joking clearly hit some kind of nerve. (I also don't think that this is the kind of thing Sanji would even joke about, considering his own past with being called a burden and a failure.) I need a confrontation between these two for this moment so bad.
Maybe we could finally get a Zoro centric arc that deals with his feelings of inadequacy. His feeling that he isn't strong enough, and the fact that instead of actually confronting that feeling has instead tried to bury it under hours upon hours of training.
And maybe we could also get some payoff on Zoro's promise to kill Sanji if he ever becomes a monster like his brothers. Because Sanji's cruel words could very much be hinting at him beginning to loose his emotions.

the great irony of early one piece antagonists believing zoro was the actual captain and using luffy as a puppet ... oda really threw us a bone and curb-stomped it right in our faces. yes, zoro could be a captain in his own right. yes, zoro could match luffy in strength. yes, zoro knows this perfectly well. and you know what? he chose luffy two years ago, and he will continue to choose luffy again and again. roronoa zoro, the pirate hunter, who followed a wannabe pirate with a nonexistent crew on a whim because luffy brought him his swords and made a half-assed attempt at a bargain. zoro, who made a vow to never lose again on both his and luffy's honor. zoro, who told luffy he'd make him commit harakiri if he got in the way of zoro's goal, only to turn around and be willing to sacrifice his dream if it means that luffy reaches his. zoro, who stood in place and took luffy's pain and told a warlord to take his head instead of luffy's, who got down on his knees before his supposed rival and begged mihawk to mentor him so that he could return strong enough to protect his captain. zoro, who has conqueror's haki- a natural born leader- but chooses to stay at the right hand of a man he has deemed greater than himself.
and the thing that luffy fears most? being alone. being rejected. being left behind. and what should have been his foil- the pirate hunter to his pirate king, the nonbeliever to his divine, the king of hell to his sun god- instead becomes his first and most devout follower; the one who demands to follow him to hell and back. oughhhggg i'm sick to my stomach

Another thing that makes the straw hats stand out as a crew is that they have snack time.
From what I’ve seen about other pirate crew, they’re usually tight on food. Whether it be rationing or straight up starving, they always have a limit on how much they eat.
But not the straw hats. They have a huge kitchen and dining area. Their cook has specialized menus for each and every person he meets. It’s seen in the way he adapts to feed zoro, who doesn’t eat overly sweet things and which chopper, who does like sweet things. He does all that while also doing his job and making sure they’re all healthy.
A testament to his skills as a cook is just how much the straw hats grew as he began feeding them. Luffy got taller, Usopp and Zoro got more muscle, Namis body began actually filling out, because they all had likely been underweight before or borderline malnourished before.
As a crew, they’re different. They have snack time, everyone gets something catered to them. Even for how much sanji puts in a facade of only doing it for the girls, he still feeds the boys and modifies each serving for them.
Another thing, each crewmate has an area designed for them. Franky specifically designed the ship with them in mind. People he met like, 46 hours before. He synced up to their wave length right on away.
Zoro has the crows nest, Nami has her own office, Robin has a seat on the deck and the library, Usopp has two separate workshops dedicated to him, and of course, Luffy has his special seat on the the figure head of The Thousand Sunny.
They’re a special crew because they know how the others work, they know each other so well that it’s like they’re operating on a higher frequency.
compared to a lot of other crews we see? They’re special, because they have snacktime

I hate when people make zolu out like zoro is the only crazy in love devoted mf in that relationship. Bc we all know Luffy is the most down bad you can be for his first mate I mean stopping mid battle to watch him fight literally losing all interest in anything and anyone around him including food just to stare at zoro, kind of down bad he would literally rip out his heart and hand it to zoro on a silver platter if zoro as much as asked. Forget not being able to become pirate king without zoro without zoro he wouldn’t be able to live.

i wld pay so much money for zoro and sanji to talk about blades w each other like !! sanji seeing zoro clean his blades w so much care turning into comparing where the weight shld sit on a good kitchen knife vs a sword. nerding out abt different oils/whetstones until they realise they've been talking excitedly to each other for almost an hour and start fighting to restore the equilibrium
zoro seeing one of sanjis knives left damp on the cutting board after some random ambush. cleaning and drying it before putting it back in the rack bc he knows sanji wld never leave his knife like that if he had a choice
sanji seeing that zoro chipped an edge during their latest fight and silently leaving his whetstones in the crows nest bc he knows the larger grit wld be more helpful
(40 y/o zoro leaving a set of knives in the kitchen for sanji to find as an anniversary gift and sanji realising that he not only still remembered the first real conversation they ever had, but also the exact brand sanji had been so excited abt)
