fic idea: everyone in teyvat has an animal that represents their soul. you see scara's tiny kitten that's clearly stressed and on edge but you don’t see it's owner to see if they're okay. you take in the kitten and it slowly warms up to you. eventually you meet scara and neither of you know that the two of you technically know each other. scara just believes that his soul ran away from him or died. so now you're trying to befriend him while his soul now absolutely adores you and eventually you both find out the truth and he decides to stay with you.

A comprehensive list of the Bohemian Rhapsody references in Wanderer’s character:

His previous name, Scaramouche, is mentioned twice in one lyric of the song.

His statement of, “I wish I'd never been born at all.” from the 3.3 quest trailer, his More About (Wanderer): IV voice line, and in-game interlude quest correlates to a well-known line from the song: “I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all.”

The Raiden Shogun’s name is Beelzebul, referencing the lyric: “Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me.” with the devil referencing the Wanderer.

His character demo video, found here, is titled “Wanderer: Any Way the Wind Blows.” This phrase is the ending lyric from Bohemian Rhapsody.

Similarly, in his voice line Feelings About Ascension: Building up, he says, “The wind is blowing this way,” referencing the same line as before.

The lyrics “So you think you can love me and leave me to die” and the repeated mention of a “mama,” whom the song is being addressed to might refer to both the Wanderer’s experience of being abandoned by the Shogun as well as the perceived betrayals that came after.

In his Least Favorite Foods voice line, he states, “I'm no fan of Dango.” This alludes to the ever-quoted lyric in relation to his character: “Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango!”

His knowledge on the real nature of the stars and sky that he gained from the Unreconciled Stars event can be summarized with: “Is this the real life? / Is this just fantasy?” along with various other lyrics from the song.

His Fallen voice line: “Everything... was futile...” might be referencing the reoccurring line, “Nothing really matters.” This line may also be relevant to his knowledge of the sky.

Scaramouce’s boss battle theme from before when he became the Wanderer is titled “Let’s Do The Fandango!” As stated before, this references a fairly iconic line from the song, especially as this occurs while he is still identifiable under the name Scaramouche. Similarly, another theme called “Ominous Fandango” is played during the Unreconciled Stars event, in which he was first introduced. It is worth mentioning that the Fandango is a sort of dance, which can apply to the mentions of a dance he performed when he lived with the sword smiths of the Raiden Gokoden. he’s excited. he heard about it months before and he’s been preparing himself for the release. he insisted that you accompany him to the mall to shop for all pink outfits together (forces you to match with him as well). when it’s finally release day, he all but explodes once you get to your seats. whispers in your ear the whole time at every single scene. bought the barbie cup too (it was sixty dollars).

venti, kaveh, lyney.

scoffed when he saw all the cutesy posters and flashy promotion. looked disgruntled at everyone’s enthusiasm. dragged his feet to the theater and begrudgingly went along since he knew you wanted to see it. he expects nothing when he’s there, but finds himself pleasantly surprised by the true depth of the movie. deeply enjoys it, but is too ashamed to admit how much he did.

xiao, wanderer, diluc.

thinks little to nothing of the movie when you tell him about it. assumes it’s supposed to be targeted towards little kids so he feels surprised when you’re so enthusiastic about going. when you both actually see the movie together, he feels surprised by all the adult jokes and themes in it. you even hear him giggle a bit. overall, he thought the movie was funny. he mostly enjoyed that it made you happy.

kaeya, ayato, childe, baizhu, heizou.

doesn’t know what a barbie is. the feminist themes fly over his head a bit. but he watches it with you and he likes the colors and the way it’s shot. he thinks some parts are funny. you’re happy, so he’s happy too.

razor, bennett, chongyun.

“i’d rather watch oppenheimer,” he says. his statement is quickly rescinded when he sees how furious you look. stares at his phone for most of the movie, looking bored. until the second half of the movie plays. he watches the monologue attentively, and decides to give it a chance. he actually enjoys it and thinks the feminist themes are very relevant. cried a little bit at the end when barbie spoke with barbara.

alhaitham, dainsleif.

goes in with an open mind, choosing not to make any assumptions and not even viewing the promotional material. he goes into the cinema with absolutely zero expectations and actually has a fun time with you. he mostly watches you during the movie, paying attention to your reactions, your laughter, and how your expression shifts during the more morose scenes. when it’s over, he asks you about every scene, discussing the whole thing with you. he just loves the way your eyes light up with excitement.

scaramouche x reader fic idea excerpt inspired by 3.1 quests but without any spoilers:

"You are the only person who has had every right to abandon me after what I've subjugated you through, and yet here you are, still by my side.... Why? Are you that desperate that you need to cling to anyone that gives you the slightest attention? Or.."

He pauses, as if to weigh his thoughts and next words carefully, before breathing out a sigh.

In a hushed voice, he continues, "Or are you proof that I've misjudged humans? That humanity isn't as fickle as I know them to be?"

Before you can give the man a response, he turns away from your form, walking towards the edge of the cliff and finding a spot to sit. Scaramouche gazes out at the scenery of Sumeru.
