This one is once again for the @merlin-fic-server’s mini challenge, supernatural/mythical themed this time. Say hello to Merlin, more widely known as Emrys the Jinn (genie). Also, the black hair wasn’t working with the skin, so now his hair is iridescent :))

(This was a very new experience, but I’m ecstatic at how it turned out. I’ll also edit this to include the companion fic I’m writing for it, when I eventually do that lol.

A while ago, I made a series of sketches about an interesting idea: a group made up of three magical beings from three Disney franchises, three characters capable of living outside the physical laws of time. One of them was the enchantress of Beauty and the Beast, a very dark character. This is my design for her. It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if I'll continue drawing this.

Mrs. Turtle loudly demands to see her baby Shelby's performance making Goofy drop the dishes and the Rest covers his ears. Mrs. Turtle should control the volume of her voice

Donald keeps telling Mickey that that baby is a troublemaker but Mickey thinks he's exaggerating

Pluto found it and gives it to Mickey, then Mickey handcuffs him but since Shelby is a turtle, he took off his shell and escaped

Then Mickey chases him on the roof doing a Mary Poppins style dance

After Mickey goes backstage and you see Mrs. Turtle arrive angry because she doesn't see her son's performance, Pluto puts Shelby in his hands and shows it to him

Also the turtle lady is very threatening And Shelby takes off her diaper and starts running And Mickey chases him

The scene referring to Mary Poppins reminded me of this

things I loved about Once upon a studio:

• Micky saying "thank you" to Walt Disney🥺

• Mirabel with a cat from Aristocats.

• Minnie covering her eyes in the men's bathroom💀

• Elsa freezing Hans.

• Prince Charming losing his shoe (ironic) Max then taking it, and Cinderella yelling "go Max, go!" after them😭

• Olaf getting called "frosty". then getting interrupted by the Genie.

• Snow White holding hands with Mulan and then the newest princess (I don't know her name, sorry. but I'll 100% watch the movie in theaters) Edit: I just found out her name is Asha!

• Tiana and Pinocchio talking🥺

• then Judy and Nick joining in.

• FANTASIA???

• Black Cauldron. (that movie traumatized me)

• All the characters in the elevator having a bad temper💀 (And I never thought I'd ever see Gothel in the same room as Donald Duck lol)

• the Peter Pan flying scene🥺

• Moana asking Merlin for help with Flounder.

• Kristoff warning the 101 Dalmatians about getting nightmares.

• Quasimodo's singing🥺

Anyways, Once upon a studio is such a beautiful work of art. Thank you Walt Disney for all the 100 years!

I loved seeing my favorite Disney characters interacting with each other. I loved geeking out whenever I recognized anything. I loved seeing all the precious memories from my childhood AND adulthood at once.

Disney will always and forever be close to my heart❤️

Later, Arthur learned that his happiness was to remain by Merlin's side, forever. They couldn't be together in Avalon because Merlin is immortal. So, in order to be happy, Arthur had to become immortal too.

Wish rewrite with Amaya as the villain (spoilers)

While I love Chris Pine as the narcasistic King Magnifico, I feel like they wasted a opportunity to have Amaya as a villain.

Instead of a confident narcissist, Magnifico is a timid yet sweet wizard who stays in his lab, waers ragged servant clothes behind closed doors, and doesnt come out that often, except to grant wishes. Think of him as a male version of Elsa and Snowwhite.

the pressure to grant everyones high expectations and his own introvert nature causes him to often screw up the wishes he has to grant at the ceremony. Note that the wishes that he grants are all materialistic yet harmless, like, "I want a puppy!" or "I want a house!"

Amaya, who serves as Mother Gothel/Evil Queen to Magnificos Rapunzel/Snowwhite, married him solidly because of his sorcery and has been secretly breaking his self-esteem over the years. She installed the dogma in Magnificos head that only SHE can judge wishes accordingly and that people cant be trusted with them because they are all selfish (which is true, to a extent). Not only that, but she also keeps Magnificos OWN wish - to be a great wizard - to herself as a means to control him.

Then, enter Asha, who sees this emotional abuse by accident and boldly speaks her mind to Magnifico about this, planting the first seed in Magnificos head that Amaya is using him, much like the town is using him for.materialistic wishes. Magnifico doesnt believe Asha because of denial - the wishing ceremony is the only time his subjects actually pay attention to him and his sorcery is his only means of value to the community - and so, he banishes her from the castle.

The movie could then still follow the same broad lines with Asha meeting Star and convincing the townspeople to rise up.

Unlike the materialistic wishes that Magnifico can grant with his staff, Star's magic can actually do wondrous things - like, grant an infinite number of wishes, make people magically fall in love with you, bring people back from the dead, etc. Once Amaya gets Star, she plans to dump Magnifico for the better option. As her methodes become more and more extreme to quell the revolutionists and find Star, Magnifico keeps the fragil peace between the revolutionists (who want all the wishes returned to them) and patriots (who are on Amaya's side and believe wishes should be governed). his popularity skyrockets, as people start to respect and see him as more than just a genie in a bottle. in turn, Magnifico becomes more confident.

Amaya becomes furious that the balance in their relationship has shifted. Fearing Magnifico becomes too comfident and will free himself from the abuse, she locks Magnifico up in the highest tower, steals his staff and absorbs the bad/selfish/harmful wishes that Magnifico keeps contained in a seperate vault.

The final battle/climax would then play out almost the same as in the movie: Asha and Star lure the "Queen" in a wild chase scene while her friends free Magnifico.

Magnifico is at his lowest point as Amaya forces all of Rosas, including himself, to its knees with the bad wishes. He is powerless without his staff and equipment to stand up to her. Asha reminds him that "he is a Star!", not because of his magic but because of his good heart.

Magnifico is freed from Amayas magical grip thanks to the belief of Asha and his people. He fuses with Star (think of Rapunzel in the Tangled series, when her eyes and hair glow) to fight Amaya in a sorcerous duel that pays tribute to Merlins duel with Madame Mim. He wins, imprisons her in the Mirror, stores the bad wishes back into the vault and revives the good wishes.

rin the ending, Star grants Magnifico his wish to be a great wizard, giving him the ability to grant powerful wishes like Star. Magnifico then rules as the King of Rosas with Asha as his right hand.

In the kingdom of Camelot, the magical advisor Merlin is tired of being beholden to prince Arthur.

After he gets his hands on a genie’s lamp, he ends up subconsciously making a wish, which seems to still count. And such a wish will not only change both men but also the kingdom of Camelot, as the prince and his advisor transform into two married kings.

Alas, with only 12 options, I had to leave out several possible candidates. I did not count most talking animals (Jiminy being the big exception because, well, he doesn't exactly LOOK like a cricket, does he?), nor did I count any robots, aliens, or superheroes/humans. This poll only features characters that are either magical themselves or could only exist in mythologies/fairytales.

(I also did not count any Alice in Wonderland characters, despite considering the Cheshire Cat, because none of them count as "companions" to Alice, more like weird residents she bumps into on her journey down the rabbit hole.)

And as for any other options.... honestly, I just ran out of space and wanted to include from as many eras of Disney animation as possible lol ^^"

A year ago, I made this first sketch. Some time ago, I thought it would be an interesting idea to have a group of three very powerful characters from the Disney magical universe: the wizard Merlin, the genie of the lamp and the Enchantress who cursed the beast.

In the original idea, I thought about including Mushu, but then I discarded this. I liked the idea of "three magical beings" better, not four. Three is a powerful number. Although, Archimedes surely has a lot to say about his importance

When I designed The Enchantress, from the beginning, I was sure that she had to be a tall and beautiful woman. Not completely perfect, because she has a big, upturned "elf" nose. But I love the idea of the satellite crown XD

i've not read any yet, but in ur opinion why are 'cleaning spells' so popular in wolfstar fanfiction? couldn't the writers just leave out the bits where the two friends do the washing up after dinner?

Another excellent question. You see, it's because in the wizarding world Mr Clean is a very important and revered wizard, not a genie as some have speculated. He is a sort of wizarding messiah, and it has been said that he's even more important than Merlin.

This old folk ballad really illustrates how shook the wizarding world was when he first came into his power:

Can he clean a kitchen sink? Quicker than a wink! Can he clean a window sash? Faster than a flash! Can he clean a dirty mirror? He'll make it bright & clearer! Can he clean a diamond ring? Mr. Clean cleans anything! (chant) Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean!

Mr. Clean can clean anything, and thus many wizards use the cleaning spells he brought to the wizarding world as a form of worship.

I'm reading about Magic in the disney fandom wiki and...

Magic in Disney is often associated with an awareness of the future, enabling anachronistic comedy and fourth wall breaks. The wizard Merlin lives backwards through time and tries bringing his knowledge of the future, or his past, into the medieval days he meets Arthur in. The Genie's phenomenal cosmic powers allow him to imitate pop-cultural figures centuries before they were born and show an awareness of being in a film. Other minor examples include The Witch from Brave turning her cauldron into an answering machine when she is away or the enchanted objects of Beauty and the Beast having the ability to create the Eiffel Tower centuries before it was built in the "Be Our Guest" number.

The be our guest eiffel tower thing never occurred to me but also- Genie knowing pop culture reference because of his magic, that makes me laugh

Yes this is gonna be cringe. Yes this is for the Once Upon a Studio short, but all these character interactions are giving me so damn much daydreaming fuel.

I had this idea that Robin hood and little john, Flynn, and the baby from Raya and the Last Dragon (idk her name) would have like this small thieves guild. Idk, maybe they’ll take turns to steal a little bit from Scrooge.

You know 100% that Dolores would have ALL the tea in the studio. Like- Maybe Basil would try to solve a small mystery and be his cool self, but then Dolores-

I’m also wondering if other characters can visit others’ worlds Mary Poppins style, or if it’s JUST the stills they stay in during the day

The villains just shitting on Hans for being lackluster (which he deserves)

In the OUAS universe, does this also happen at PIXAR? Or is it exclusive to the Disney Studio?
