So last night a psychiatrist told us that young people today are terrified of faliure because when they used to make mistakes in their childhood their parents lived that as a personal faliure in raising them, and children picked that up so, since they did not want to disappoint their mum and dad, they learnt that making mistakes = the end of the world
This is why the youth of today tends to be made up of (depressed) perfectionists

Just a thought, but does it ever weird you out as a gen Zer that our parents are like terrified of us being influence and controlled by what we see online, but that's literally only because opening our minds to other people and other view points keeps us from being influenced and controlled solely by them? Like why are they afraid of us being exposed to different things like we're incapable of forming our own opinions about them? Why is their sphere of influence the only acceptable one?

Boomers when Gen Z were kids:
Boomer : *talking about literally any irrelevant things to someone else*
*Gen Z with scraped knees, blood running down their leg* : *Boomer* I just-
Boomer : The adults are talking right now you should learn to never interrupt people
Also Boomers now :
Anyone: *in the middle of telling something* so we-
Boomer : *proceeds to tell completely different absolutely irrelevant story that has nothing to do with the previous conversation*

So…
My friend just shared a “funny compilation” of parents publicly shaming their mostly minor children on the internet? Like wtf? Also several of these parents were publicly shaming their underage minor children for not having sex or for being single? It was my understanding that most parents are against their children having sex young, but apparently I was wrong about that.
It was just so unnecessary mean and dehumanising and also confusing. I want to stab every single one of these parents and fucking rip their guts out. I hope they all die very soon. Have parents always been like this?
How small must you feel to mock and ridicule your underage minor child for not having sex or being single?

Boomers as grandparents: is told that they accidentally ate a dog treat OHH EW! Gen Z as grandparents: is told that they accidentally ate a dog treat honestly couldn't give less of a fuck. If I couldn't tell before that it was a dog treat, why should I care now? Life is short anyways. We're all gonna die, it's kill or be killed. Yolo.

working with boomers is so wild they find the strangest ways to not follow directions. Like, not in a think outside the box/take initiative/creative solutions way, but in a way where issues that shouldn't even come up somehow manage to appear.

Every so often, I get very upset and rage at my boomer grandparents' absolute refusal to take a look at the dumpster fires that are their mental health and make any effort whatsoever to improve upon them. Like my mental health is a dumpster fire as well but at least I'm self aware and working on it!! I love you, I want you to be happy, GO TO A THERAPIST GOSHDANGIT YOU'RE MENTALLY/EMOTIONALLY SCARRED AND IN PAIN

My anger towards Boomers has been replaced with pure awe. They truly exist in their own world and are entirely paradoxical beings. Inspiring.

So its been almost a week since I asked one of my coworkers (almost 70) if he's ever seen Goncharov when we were talking about movies I've never seen. I even gave him a sticky note with the movie title, director, year of release, and the starring actors before I went home.
I asked him today if he's seen it yet and answers "No but I was looking at the note you gave me and it sounds familiar so I might have and not remember since I've seen so many movies. It has all these big names and sounds good!
See I even put your note right here on my folder to remind me when I got some free time!"
He sounded so excited to watch it, I don't know how to tell him.

We spent 8 seasons watching how everybody south and north of the wall scorned Jon for being a bastard and how even the doubt of the future king being illegitimate (while having the very plausible excuse of looking like his mother) burst a giant war where almost everybody dies and now we are supposed to believe Rhaenyra putting bastards (that don’t even look like her) on the throne has no political repercussions whatsoever?

Generation vs Generation! ⚡️ For LGBTQ+ History Month, we asked our It Gets Better Youth Voices and Outwords Archive storytellers the same questions, so we could see how their answers change (or remain the same) as our LGBTQ+ history evolves!
We matched up Youth Voice Eli, a trans activist, artist, and student filmmaker, with Jude, a trans activist, therapist, and sex educator who made headlines as one of the first trans men to receive gender-affirming surgery in 1972!
🟣 Do you have a favorite LGBTQ+ film? What is it and why?
Eli: "Oh I have so many! But the first two that come to mind are Portrait Of A Lady On Fire by Celine Sciamma and Milk by Gus Van Sant."
Jude: "I could not choose just one! My favorite LGBTQ+ films are Some Like it Hot; Victor, Victoria; Tootsie; Mrs. Doubtfire; The Naked Civil Servant; and Yentl."
🟣 What LGBTQ+ landmark would you most like to visit and why?
Eli: "I would like to visit the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York. It’s such an important landmark and sort of the birthplace of the more modern LGBTQ+ rights movement."
Jude: "The Stonewall Inn. I am very happy that it was made a National Landmark. It represents a pivotal time in our LGBTQ+ history. I am very aware that Stonewall was NOT the first such event important to our history. I hope that eventually other such sites will be recognized/honored."
🟣 Which of the Pride flags do you feel best represents you and why?
Eli: "I like the progress pride flag, because it has both the trans flag and the rainbow pride flag. And it's a reminder that as a community we are always moving forward and changing."
Jude: "I like the transgender pink/white/light blue flag because it best represents me as a trans man. But I also like the newer, most inclusive of Pride Flags because I consider myself as part of the larger LGBTQ+ community."
🟣 What’s one fact about the LGBTQ+ community that you think everyone should know?
Eli: "There are so many different kinds of people and identities within the community. We all deserve to be treated with respect and to live a happy life identifying however we choose."
Jude: "We are here, all around you. We have existed since the beginning of time, in every culture. We are every bit as valuable and as worthy of respect, equal human rights, and pursuit of happiness. I do not want your 'acceptance. I do not want your 'tolerance'. I want you to join me in celebrating me and other LGBTQ+ folks as we truly are!"
We'll have more matches for ya throughout Oct!

The idea is, and I cannot believe it, go back to school.
The only difference now is that I am old enough to not blindly listen to my elders. I am making researched, informed decisions on what programs to take.
I hope Gen Alpha and Gen Z don't get bullied into college like us Millennials. But I don't think many of them will. They are an amazing and intelligent generation and I am very proud of them.

Love how millennials pissed and shit themselves for years about how older age groups treated them and still ended up being just as Boomer-ish and conservative as the people they whined about.

Growing up as a millennial being told not to believe everything on TV... then getting older (I'm 26 now) and telling my Gen X loved ones not to believe everything they see online and telling my Boomer relatives not to believe everything they read in the establishment newspapers 🙏
I am HOLDING this family together fml

wishing you all the luck to find a doctor that respects every facet of you 🙏
Thank you! It's frustrating how rare good doctors are, and that often includes the sacrifices disabled individuals have to make when finding a doctor that can provide treatment. I've read (and also experienced) a lot about patient mistrust in the healthcare system and how marginalized communities are forced to deal with inconsiderate, hostile, and even ignorant doctors, so like with many of the sociopolitical systems currently being scrutinized in the U.S., healthcare is long overdo for much needed reform that better supports patients and the physicians who want to help.
