warnings: cannon typical violence/mention of weapons and death, drugs, slight possessive behavior (not yandere), fem reader intended but its vague, you/your used for reader.

-all three of them are interesting and pretty complex on their own, so all three of them with a Human? you've got yourself into a tough situation.

-given the fact that humans are generally regarded as a product and not as living things with non-monetary value, they most likely had a hard time dealing with their feelings for you but once you're with them, they will keep you safe from anyone that might view you like that.

-that doesn't mean that they stop their business of course, just that they normally keep you far away from the rougher parts of it. they all use and are in the business of selling humans as drugs.

-Douglas is the one who's generally okay with the fact that you're human. there was definitely a learning curve but compared to the other two, he had the easiest time with it. the other two took longer to come around to the concept.

-none of them fully understand humans so it's up to you to remind them that you're not like them. though you are more physically fragile than them, you have certain abilities that they don't. besides being more temperature resistant then a lot of other folks in space, things that are poison to any other species are fine for you, the first time you had human liquor around them it was like the world was ending. (I HC that alien liquor is different depending on the species/planet, but they generally view our alcohol the same way we view rubbing alcohol)

-human foods are also a mystery to them, our spices and cooking techniques are different than theirs. you could make instant ramen and they'd be enthralled.

-since you're the only human they like, they are fascinated by almost everything you do, it's a bit odd but somehow endearing. in their eyes you're soft and cute, even if you're not by human standards.

-speaking of soft, they are very protective! you are always with one of them.

-your time with Nipulon is usually spent in his office, you sit on one of the couches while he works. you both do your own thing, or you talk to him while he does paperwork. he enjoys the background noise even if he doesn't know what a 'stormtrooper' is or why the grunts remind you of them. sometimes you sit in his lap and lean your head on his shoulder so you can watch him work, sometimes you fall asleep like that, and he refuses to move. like when a cat lays on you and you legally can't move.

-Douglas on the other hand is a bit of a toss-up. sometimes you go with him when he's training recruits, he uses it to show off to you though that tends to backfire when half the trainees end up dying in the most ridiculous ways. other times he might be out of his suit (normally while high) and just hangs on to you while you go about your day, occasionally commenting on what you're doing.

-Garmantuous doesn't have a lot of time off but sometimes he'll pull you along on missions, you end up following him to different planets. since he's been so many places, he knows what places are the most fun (at least in his eyes) and which ones would be safe for you to wander in.

-though you somehow managed to be with all of them, that doesn't change how jealous they are. Nipulon in games is said to be very jealous and aggressive towards anyone that gets close to Garmantuous, though this doesn't mean that he's jealous of you (since you're his Aswell) it does mean that he doesn't like anyone going near you or Garmantuous. he already doesn't like Douglas and he hates how close he is to you, but you're happy and he knows you'd be devastated if he killed him, so he just keeps his distance from Douglas and stands closer to you. but luckily you tend to spend time with them individually rather than all together so there usually isn't any conflict.

Hey what if I *draws your alien that hates humans as humans* lol

These are all a little old (from jan-march) but save for giblets I feel like I’ve got everyone pinned down nicely. Notes under the cut!! Don’t repost, feel free to tell me what you think 💕

1-2: Krubis. I hope you see my vision here. Mostly just trying to figure out if I like this hair texture for him or if I go curlier. I’m set for his work outfit though and I like the idea of him wearing glasses or shades 24/7. But yknow. I think this captures his essence. This is the sort of person he is in my eyes.

The second doodle is kind of rushed but I think in a human au maybe he’d forgo a prosthetic in most circumstances. Hell I think if he can remove the drill at all in canon then he does so when it comes to paperwork and shit. I think he was born without the arm so hes learnt to get by without any sort of prosthetic. I need to do more research into the matter though

3: Douglas. The shorter cut is more in character but I do like the (VERY SPLATOON INSPIRED BTW) braid idea. I think he’s on the younger side alongside the Skrendels? But also he’s very baby faced I think. To mirror the whole “actually Douglas was the silly blue goober the whole time” thing

4: Dr. Giblets. As I said before this sketch is a bit old but I did touch it up. A bit too lanky his face needs to be rounder. I think he’s the oldest of the officers maybe older than Garm. Probably? Not by much. Also 5 Torg in the corner but I didn’t like how she came out so she’ll be in the next batch of whatever 💔💔💔

5: Angela + Jonathan in armor bc for a human/more anthro au I think they’d all have these helmets that mirror the one big eye(and headcanons for what happens when they argue: Angela mediates between Jonathan and Mona, Jonathan does the same when Angela argues with Mona, and Mona just straight up leaves the two to beat the shit out of each other then tearfully apologize .). Also nipulon weezer blue.

6: Garmantuous. Idk if he should be bald or not. Also like 40? Could be a bit older maybe even younger… extra eyes HAVE TO be plugs though I have decided on this. I feel smart for this.

7: more Mona ^_^ more developed sketch of the same hc that he just dips if the other two ever argue + fem presenting alt design + probably what went through his head by the time the BH took out his other brothers during the fight. Also his hair would be bleached blonde 👍🏼 but all the Skrendels have very dark hair naturally.

(On that note: as mentioned before Krubis’s hair is all grey now to mirror the drill. Douglas not sure probably brown or strawberry blond/gingery but dyed blue. Giblets. Uh. Idk it’s pink ish but that way naturally somehow and greying obviously. Garm also blonde but probably bleached? And like I said Skrendels all have black or brown hair but Mona bleached his and Jonathan dyes his hair every now and then

High On Life Theory dump:

Theory A, why some aliens have human names and others kind of don’t: the translator nanites are translating all the alien names to “English” approximations because it’s what the character can make sense of. So, for example, his name isn't actually "Gus" but means something along the lines of what "Gus" means as a name on Earth.(”Exalted,” “Majestic,” or less possibly, “Of Augustus.”) The ones that don’t get this treatment, say, Garmantuous or Krubis, are because there isn’t a translation close enough to it for the nanites to infer anything from so they just let it be. Theory B, Knifey’s true species: I think he's "Gatlian" in that his species comes from Gatlus. I have a theory that most Gatlians ambulate kinda like worms or in the case of Gus's species, octopi, but if you were to pull the leather off of Knifey's "Handle," he would probably have spider-like legs and crawl around on them. The blade is actually an augmentation, or perhaps just a sharpened and shaped horn. Knifey’s species probably evolved on an island somewhere on Gatlus separated from other areas which allowed for some unique differences compared to other parts of the planet, a phenomenon observable on Earth. Look up Owl Parrots for an IRL example. Theory C, Gatlian anatomy: Gatlians can shoot stuff out of their butts as an evolutionary overhang for trying to escape predators. Knifey’s people can do what they do because climbing cliffs all about them on a particularly metallic island area of the world was just the easier way away from predators. Theory D, There are many “Gatlian” species: Jist look at all the anatomical differences between Gus, Creature, Kenny and Sweezy, and realize that alone is all the argumentation I need. They’re all still collectively referred to as Gatlians to save time tho.

Theory E, the last one, is a behind the scenes one: I know part of Gus’s references for his design included a muppet/yipyip looking thing but I think all of them are actually based loosely on Boglins as a general rule, Boglins being a product Roiland at least is demonstrably familiar with given the fact that Rick from Rick and Morty owns one.

ok something that is interesting 2 me but also low-key bugging me:

the Bounty Hunter, before they get the suit, breathes on Nova Sanctus just fine. Nipulon and Garmantuous also seem just fine on Earth. You can chalk these instances to minimal exposure to these new atmospheres. But meanwhile all the G3 Grunts and Gatliens seem to breathe just fine wherever and it's basically implied Garm is just running around Earth the whole time too... oh and Lizzie is perfectly fine as well.

So how do all the planets' atmospheres compare? Are they all the same or similar enough that the inhabitants of each can breathe on them all with minimal struggle/discomfort? Is this adaptability the work of other quickly-spread microbes? Are some organisms like the gatlians + merks just more well adapted to the various environments?? That could work esp for the Gatlians who could have very well evolved to be uber-versatile so they can be used as weapons wherever, increasing the odds of worldwide or even intergalactic symbiotic relations. Extremophiles, maybe? Or at least a sort of jack of all trades biologically speaking??????

No matter what the explanation, it does point to most alien lifeforms being the same sort of carbon-based life with similar needs. Except for with... whatever is going on with Giblets, considering he's perpetually in that suit of his.

And ofc the bounty hunter still wears the helmet whenever, which would be useful when the atmosphere could prove harmful and protect against viruses and pollutants in the atmosphere. And not to mention general protection against weaponry and serving as a source of anonymity for the job at hand.

Why did things have to turn out this way?

Summery: This is basically the ending part of the battle with Garmantuous where Kenny does his thing.

Everyone held their breath. A couple moments pass, and nothing happens. The bomb failed.

Everyone starts to panic. Garmantuous could wake up at any moment, and there was a big chance they wouldn't be able to beat him again, Even if they did the bomb doesn't work. 

Gus is the first to speak. "What now? The bomb didn't work. " He says loudly, his eyes darting everywhere.  "Yeah, what's the plan here? Keep shooting and hoping for a miracle? Sweezy asks, alarm hidden in her voice behind the snark.

Everyone starts racking their brains for a solution.  Kenny looks around at everyone. Hesitantly he comes up with a response.  " I have an idea." Everyone lights up. "Oh, Fantastic!" Creature responds with relief.  "I knew you'd figure it out Kenny"

 Kenny falters a bit at that as he continues. "The bomb might still be functional. I know a way to detonate it." He sighs, gathering whatever courage he has for his next sentence. "I'll go inside his asshole and detonate it..manually"

There's silence, and the bounty hunter holds him close. "Oh. That's...not good." Creature says timidly. Gus looks at Kenny horrified. "Kenny. That would mean..."  “Yeah, I know" The gatlian answers miserably.

Everyone starts to protest. "Kenny" Sweezy says seriously. "We're not letting you do that, ok? There's got to be another way." Kenny looks at her, dead in the eye. "Can you think of anything?" She glances down. "Well, not right now. Is this really the only way?" There’s silence again. "Kenny, there's a big chance you're not going to make it out alive" Gus says gravely. Kenny sighs. "I know" 

He turns his attention towards his partner.  He doesn't dare to look at their eyes, knowing full well he might break down at the look in their face. "Hey bounty hunter" He inhales, trying to continue. "Fighting alongside you has been, well it's been the best thing that's ever happened to me. Thank you for giving me the adventure of a lifetime." He gasps, tears slipping out. He pushes his head on his partner's chest, trying to get as much physical contact as he can, while there's still time.

His partner hugs him back tightly. After a few moments, he gives a wet sigh and leans away. "Now shove me deep inside that monster slug's dirty asshole." He says. A couple seconds pass. "Bounty hunter?" Kenny asks tiredly. "I need to--" 

A sob racks out. Everyone turns towards the bounty hunter, their eyes widening. It's a bit hard to see through the tint the tinted glass covering their face, but you can still see them. They're sobbing, have been for a while it seems, and it doesn’t look like they’ll stop anytime soon. 

Kenny starts crying too, finally looking up at their face. "Bounty hunter, don't cry. This needs to be done. I need to do this. We'll finally be able to defeat the G3 like we've planned. Everything will be worth it after this." They start sobbing even more. Kenny looks at them sorrowfully. He doesn't want them to cry, but they need to do this before Garmantuous wakes up. "Bounty hunter I--" 

"I don't want you to die." A wailing, broken voice whispers. It stuns Kenny and everyone else. No one in the gang, but Lizzie has heard them say anything, not even Kenny who's their favorite. The bounty hunter always used gestures, or the suit’s hologramed keyboard to say things.  

"Kenny.." They wail out, holding him tightly to the point it almost hurts.

Tears run down his face harder than they have in a long time. This was his partner, his best friend, the person who he could always count on. They've never been apart since the day they found him. Even when he’s told them everything, and everyone was against him, they never left him. They were always there for him. They would be overwhelmingly stoic at times, and yet so affectionate to him.

He should have known that they would take this badly knowing this.

He looks around, and everyone seems heartbroken. Probably feeling a lot worse now that they've seen how badly it's affected them. He peers at his partner again. He blinks quickly to fight the tears away. "Bounty hunter." They look at him, tearfully. "I need you to calm down." They laugh indignantly, as they try to control themselves. Kenny hesitates for a bit, looking around everywhere then at them again. "I know this is hard but we need to do this now. Garmantuous can wake up at any moment now, and I don't think any of us can survive another round with him, despite his injuries." He verbally points at everyone's own injuries

He sees them close their eyes in defeat. "We can do this." Kenny says again firmly. After a pause they slowly look at him again. Their gaze is filled with heartbreak, and an intensity he can’t place. 

They slowly move, and take off their helmet. Kenny studies them one last time, trying to take everything in. They try not to cry, and fail as they position themselves next to Garmantuous. Kenny sniffs and then says his goodbyes to the rest of the Gatlians. He turns to the bounty hunter.

"Ok, ok, I guess this is goodbye." He says, sadly.. "You're the best bounty hunter I've ever met, and you're an even better friend. See ya pal." 

Carefully they move Kenny right in front of them, and give him a single kiss on his head, between his antennas. He wheezes slightly, staring in surprise. They give a watery smile, before hugging him tightly. He breathes in, leaning against them one last time. They finally back up. 

 "Don't forget, I'll always be here with you. I love you.” Bounty hunter speaks again softly, so only Kenny can hear. "I love you too." He smiles at them as they shove him inside the hole.

They quickly move back, putting their helmet on again. Just as they get far enough,  Garmantuous explodes. The bounty hunter weeps as they look around to see if there was any chance of Kenny coming out alive. Everyone keeps quiet, not wanting to say anything that might provoke them.

…

They head home with a dead body.
