Sharing What’s Important
Gale Dekarios x Reader
a/n: Gale is actually like so romantic and sweet in his own way and he definitely deserves to be as in love with someone as they are in love with him. Cue in reader (Tav).
summary: Gale shows you his favorite book and the two of you read it sitting on a window. Things get super cute and fluffy in the moments that follow.

You tilt your head back to the point where your neck creaks with a slight twinge. Your hair falls down as you gaze up at the almost endless amounts of books within the Baldur’s Gate library. You were in a library. You never thought you’d see the day. You slowly begin walking around, making sure not to stray too far. You honestly didn’t think you’d see the day for a lot of reasons. Sharp clicks of a boot ringing against the floor only proved that further.
“Here it is. This is the book I wanted to show you. I have an inkling you’ll take a liking to it,” Gale’s voice called out and you looked back down, straightening your spine to appear casual. A habit you had yet to break, even with him. You catch him just as he rounds the corner, waving a book in the air, a small smile gracing his sharp features.
“You didn’t have it on your person? Now that I don’t believe,” you tease, taking the book automatically as he holds it out in front of you, not wanting him to think for a second that you weren’t interested. Meeting his eye with a grin, you only see pure confusion in that innocent gaze.
“I would never take a book out of the library. Everything I read stays right here. If need be, I’ll sleep in here. Or come back, but I rarely seem to be able to put the things down once I pick them up.” He breaks out into a short laugh, finding himself and what he considers to be antics amusing. You have to bite your lip, not wanting to laugh at him. It would only be out of fondness… but still.
“So where should I read this then,” you ask, bringing the book back to his attention. Gale’s eyes first fall onto you. It makes your heart skip a beat that he’d first look to you instead of a book. Who would’ve guessed that could’ve ended up being a possibility for you, but you learned to take life one day at a time a long while ago.
You took joy in the way Gale’s eyes lit up. The way that, for a moment, he’s assertive as he places a hand on the small of your back and starts guiding you toward a window seat. The view of the city was breathtaking. For a moment you wondered how Gale would never grow distracted. But then you realize that for him, the book would be a distraction from looking out the window.
Gale maneuvers your body on instinct, as if he’s done this a million times before. He shuffles you over as he takes a seat at the window. His brows furrowed as he wiggled in the seat, aiming to get as comfortable as possible. And just when you don’t think your heart could be beating any faster, you watched as Gale spread his legs just the right amount in order to create a space for you. This was his place and yet here he was creating a space for you.
You don’t hesitate to slide onto the window seat, settling into his arms. A smile spreads across your lips as his arms wrap around your waist, bringing you as close as possible. Then he wiggles you as well, his way of making sure you’re as comfortable as possible.
“You done?” You raise a brow, not being able to help yourself from teasing him. Just a bit. He blinks as if breaking out of muscle memory. A routine. Then he hums and shakes his head, surprising you. Your lips part as he leans back, body still stiff and posture intact. But comfortable for him. Then he brings you to lean all the way into his chest.
“Now I am done. You may begin,” he states simply with a small nod toward the book. You slowly shake your head, constantly astounded by this man while also so desperate to know more of him. So you don’t make a quip, don't comment or give a look toward any of it. With a light sigh you open the book and start reading. A curiosity in the back of your mind as you wondered what made this his favorite.
The book was non-fiction. You had gathered that this man wasn’t much of a fiction reader, but you thought he might’ve started you off at least a little easy. At least the book was of a war. A personal diary of a little nobody who had down a whole lot for one of their greatest wars. And no one ever knew until someone found her diary and tracked it back to where she had been captured.
As you read, Gale nuzzles into the side of your head. For a second you start to melt. But then he leans in a little bit closer as you realize… he’s sticking his nose into the book! A book he’s probably read dozens of times, a book he probably knows every word to, and yet he’s moving closer to you in order to read it.
You’re honestly about to complain, rambling nonsense he wouldn’t fully understand, leading you to begrudgingly open yourself up further to him. Gale interrupts this as he nuzzles into you again. This time not further down, but into your hair. He inhaled deeply and you felt the way he melted on your back. So instead you only smile and continue reading.
“What do you think?” Gale asks, voice as neutral as ever. But looking deeper as you do, you can hear the eagerness and excitement in what little tone he holds. Her fingers press against the side of the book you’re reading. A side much smaller than the thick section you had left to read.
“I haven’t gotten much into it, you know.” You can’t help it as your smile widens considerably. You glance up at Gale to see a flicker of disappointment pass over his face before shifting back. He may be blunt but he was just as good if not better at hiding his emotions than even you was. “But it has already made quite the impression.”
Gale’s eyes move to meet yours, looking away from the book and they immediately glow a tiny bit brighter. You inhale sharply at the sight before nodding, hoping to assure him even further. But from what you can tell, he takes your word as pure fact and it’s enough to have him showing off more of his excitement to you.
While you continue turning the pages, understanding more and more why this is Gale’s favorite, you feel his stare. His gorgeous eyes that remind you of the earth beneath your feet, carrying you along your way, supporting you, just as the precious earth does too. Every time you smile, laugh, grow even the finest fraction of emotion, Gale is there to watch it all. Making sure not to miss a second of it.
At first you shift in their seat, the unfamiliar feeling of being watched grew to make her uncomfortable. You weren’t used to this. People watching you. Your whole life was making sure people weren’t watching you. Then came this man who could spend hours in the silence. Just watching. Observing. His favorite thing to aim all that toward? You. And you figure that if anyone were to make you that sort of uncomfortable, if anyone forced you to get used to the idea of having someone’s undivided attention, you were glad it was Gale. Anyone else and it simply wouldn’t have been worth it.
“Oh, I do love this story in particular. How she was able to survive the poison, I don’t know,” Gale expresses enthusiastically. You close your eyes for a brief moment, realizing that Gale had read ahead farther than you had been on the page. Suppose you know what that soup ends up doing to the woman. Despite the spoiler, which you can’t say you completely hated, a chuckle still left you.
“Haven’t gotten there yet, love,” you murmur softly, using your nickname for him. After all the creative pet names he had given you, ‘love’ had been all you could think of for him. But he seemed to like it enough so you weren’t about to go and change things for them both. You figured you’d both hate that more than anything.
From your peripheral, you see Gale very visibly wince, his face twisting in a manner that looked truly uncomfortable. As his eyes closed, you could practically imagine all the thoughts that were probably running through his head. The way he was most likely beating himself up for ruining the surprise and shock value of the moment.
You set the book down and shift in his arms. Without even looking, Gale tightens his hold on you. Fear of you leaving, even due to something like this, gripped him. But you pat his hand lightly before making sure to face him better. In a way you’re not entirely used to, you gently put your hands on his face. The action makes his eyes snap open, already glowing just from your touch.
“Thank you for the spoiler. This book is a real nail-bitter, I was getting nervous,” You made sure to exaggerate. By the way they both lightly laughed, you knew you had succeeded in calming the storm of his overworked mind. A hum vibrates through your throat and it has instant questions replacing the worrying thoughts. “You know, I think it would be better if you read it to me instead. Don’t you agree?”
Gale’s eyes widened and it barely took another second before he started grinning. You briefly wonder if this had been his plan all along. If he had somehow tricked you into this position. No way. You would’ve caught on. Wouldn’t you? Before you can think it over more, Gale shifts them both back into their previous position and picks up the book instead of waiting for you to hand it over. Settling back into his chest, your body soon becomes languid at the soothing rumble of his voice as he reads the book to you. You think you could get used to this. All of it. Every single bit. Especially everything that had to do with him.

AHHH!!! I saw that you write for my FAVORITE character ever which gale from bg3!
So if you haven't done this already could you please do some cuddle time with him? I need the fluff 🩷 thanks so much!
this is genius, i love Gale lol. cuddling with him would fix every issue i have. i also hope you don't mind if i took the request in a slightly different format! i wanted to do the 4 times character does x, and the 1 time you do x.
cuddle bug
oneshot summary: 4 times gale initiates cuddles with you, and the 1 time that you initiate cuddles with gale. (gale is a major cuddle bug and would love pulling you in at any point. not that you wouldn't pull him in for a cuddle, he just loves pulling you in more.)
content warnings: none
fandom: baldur's gate 3
character: gale dekarios x reader
gender neutral reader
Tumblr media
one: The first time that Gale pulls you into a cuddle session is at camp, and you're both new to the relationship. It's a nerve wracking way to make contact, and it feels awkward. But it's warm. He wanted to cuddle and be close to you, and what better way than to do it awkwardly.
The night is warm and fireflies are flying around everywhere. The camp members are enjoying themselves for the first time in a couple months, where missions are completed and there's a little bit of down time to enjoy the night. You and Gale officiated your relationship last week, and now have the first night to enjoy the branching of your relationship.
You sit next to him at a more secluded area of the camp, ensuring a moment of silence for you both. Gale grabs your hand as you both talk the night away, the feeling of warmth causing you to shiver.
"It's a nice night. And you're a great leader to be able to pull this off tonight." He glances over at you, both of you smiling at one another. Then he does the unexpected, where he pulls you into his arms, holding you close. You lean into the warmth of his embrace, enjoying the body heat when you're both away from the fire.
He pulls you over to his bed roll to continue the cuddle session, where you both felt a bit odd about it. You could never figure out if you were applying too much pressure, or if you adjusted yourself if that would create an issue of moving too much. Sure, it was awkward. But it allowed you both to know what cuddling positions you'd love moving forward.
two: The second time Gale pulls you in for a cuddle is after an intense session of a battle. He was worried that you had died, and never wanted to let you leave his arms again.
The fight with Thorm nearly took you out, your health very low. Shadowheart barely managed to keep you alive with her healing, but advised you get strong rest before moving on to the next quest to be filled. Gale, the man that he is, was sick with worry throughout your entirety of healing.
He found himself sitting next to you while you rested, very hesitant to touch you within the first few days, not wanting to make any injuries you had worse. But when you show some signs of being on the mend, he wasted no time laying down next to you, pulling your head on his shoulder and wrapping his arms around you as delicately as possible. He didn't want to move you too much, knowing that it can worsen injuries. But it was a nice initial point for him to have.
"Gods, you had me worried deeply for a while there." He murmurs to you, who's barely conscious to hear him say that. He slowly runs one hand over your arm that had reached over to wrap around your chest.
He just wanted to see you safe, the worry he felt seeing you on the brink of death was enough to shake him. He vowed from then on to be as much of help as possible to you in fights.
three: The third time Gale pulls you in is when he senses you've had a bad day. He's never one to shy away from the thought that a good cuddle session can fix a bad mood.
He finds you kicking dirt around on the outside of camp. You have the list of quests in your hand, frustrated at how much needed to be completed. You truly want to be helpful to them, to help as many people as you can, but it was burning you out at both ends. Something that Gale could tell, and his heart hurt for you.
He approaches you where you are, grabbing you by the shoulders. It takes one gentle look from him for you to start choking on your cries, and he pulls you close. He knows you need the lightest cuddle session to help you feel better, with light bouts of praise from him. Which is exactly what he supplies.
He wrestles you over to his tent, the headache you have pounding away. The dusk of the night was coming upon you all, and you feel as if there would be no time to sleep if you had to get to these missions soon. But he pulls you down with him, ensuring you were comfortable.
"Oh, sweet love, you're doing so well. You have the weight of the world on your shoulders right now, but you're doing so well." He says, the way he was cuddling with you feels like a weighted blanket. It lulls you to a calm sleep that night, to wake in the morning with a fresh start.
four: The fourth time that Gale wants cuddles is after an argument. You both always need a breather after an intense argument, but you'll always find your way back to each other to talk things through, and then move into comfort of each other's arms.
Oh, the argument was massive. It took a toll on you both, where eventually the camp had to pull you guys away from each other to cool it down. They really felt worried when Gale's magic started sparking, not wanting the orb to go off, and you had your hand on your weapon, they didn't want you to pull it out to start swinging.
The camp had split off into teams to watch over the both of you, letting you both get what you needed to off your chests. Then they would all shove you towards each other to say those rants to one another in a calmer fashion. You both speak with a softness to one another now, trying to see the other's viewpoint.
"I'm so sorry love." Was how Gale responded to your responding of love, and he pulled you in close to him. He is usually the first to reach to you after an argument as well, wanting you in his arms as quick as he can.
You lean into the touch, craving the touch of the man you love. You're always there to accept it, glad he would be the one to offer, always nervous about the rejection if you offered it. You always tend to worry after an argument, if he would ever take you back. So it always makes you happy that he wants to cuddle you close after such an argument.
one: The one time that you pull Gale in for a cuddle session is when he's had a bad day. When he's had a day of insecurities, wondering if he's good enough for you, is when you know you have to pull him in. He'll be too nervous to seek you out. He finds solace in your arms at night, getting comfort from you when you hold him and say he's enough.
Mystra had really done a number on him. He felt he had to live up to imaginary expectations you had in order for you to still want him. It takes time to get over that sort of line of thinking, and you reassure him that you'd never leave him based on what he thought you would want from him.
"I don't expect you to be perfect, or to be a strong wizard in order for me to be with you, you know. I'm with you Gale, because you're the kindest, sweetest person who does kind things for me. Such as cuddling me when I'm feeling down. You brighten my days with your stories." You comfort him, pulling him into your chest, where he buries himself into your neck.
"I don't ever want to leave you." You whisper to him, letting him get every ounce of emotion out on you, as you run your hands through his hair. He sighs shakily, and you feel the tears on your neck. It's a quiet night, nothing more is needed as you continue to whisper praises into his ear as you both fall asleep.

Together
The aftermath of Elminster's visit created an implosion between Gale and Tav, but their love will help them pick up the pieces.
Pairings: Gale x female Tav/Reader
Requested: yes
Warnings: hurt/comfort, swearing, mentions of suicide. 18+ MINORS DNI.
Word Count: 1.7k
Tumblr media
The crickets chirped brightly, their noise matching with the twinkling of the stars overhead. The air around camp was thick, heavy - weighted in a way that only came after dark knowledge was discovered. This knowledge was dropped like a bomb - which, for this situation, was an apt metaphor.
"Tav..." Gale started, his back to you. He watched as Elminster - fucking Elminster, with his awful news he brought with a smirk - left camp, no doubt happy to have his belly full with our cheese, and our bread, and our wine.
"Don't," You interrupted him, the anger rising in you. Like a simmering stew, it boiled in your heart, causing you to hear the pumping of your blood in your ears. Your hands shook slightly as you ran them through your hair, taking on a life of their own. "Don't you dare say anything."
The other companions stood around the campfire, a few feet away from you both. The news of Gale's new "mission" that Elminster delivered to us - to blow himself up for the sake of possibly all humanity - hung between you all. Gale...the kind, goofy, open-hearted wizard that filled our nights with laughter and friendship, was now expected to kill himself. Which, he agreed to.
Gale...the love of your life. The man who held you countless nights, who celebrated your victories in battles and who made you scream and tremble with pleasure.
Willingly agreed to die.
Imagining a future where he no longer existed - dead by his own hand - caused tears to spring to your eyes quickly. And not delicate, lady-like tears...hot, blobbing, uncontrollable tears. Unable to deal with the reality of the situation, you turned on your heels to take off to the woods. You heard Gale call your name, followed by a stern (but gentle) Karlach try to diffuse him.
The small stream on the outskirts of camp babbled lightly, as you finally stopped and broke down. Not only in tears, but also physically - you found yourself on your knees, a groan escaping your lips and turning into a wail, uncontrollable.
You sobbed into your hands, tears and snot mixing on your face. You hiccupped through the sobs, strangling your throat and echoing off of the trees. A few moments later, the sound of footsteps mixed with your sobs.
The only two sounds in the woods.
"Tav..." Gale's voice was low, barely above a whisper. You didn't look, but you felt him sit next to you, immediately wrapping his arms around you. You fought him, trying to push him off of you, but his strength held on strong, and he didn't let go.
"Stop! Stop it!" You tried to pull away, wriggling underneath him, "How could you?! How could you agree to this? This-this...suicide mission!" Your voice sounded like a caricature of itself as you beat your fists into Gale's chest. He allowed it, letting you strike the weak blows to his body.
"Tav, Tav - stop. Listen to me," He said gently, shaking you slightly to break your erratic behavior, "Stop it. Look at me." He slipped his arms off of you and held your cheeks in his palms, your hands instinctively wrapping around his wrists. You were mere inches from each other, and while you were a mess, you felt your face turn to stone as you looked into his eyes.
Your anger - or rather, your hurt that you didn't want to show - pulsed through your body as Gale searched your eyes, running his thumbs of your cheeks. The air stilled - suddenly, you noticed tears in Gale's eyes, his mouth turned downward into a slight frown.
You broke down into tears again, leaning into Gale's shoulder. Again, he wrapped his arms around you and let you sob in his nook as he stroked your hair, murmuring in your ear.
"How could you do this?" You asked again, in between sobs, "How could you agree to do this? Was it because of Mystra?" You pulled back suddenly, jealousy somehow pushing past your grief and anger, "Fuck, did you agree to do this so that Mystra would forgive you? Do you still-"
"If you are about to ask me if I still love Mystra, I'd advise you to not," Gale said, wiping your tears gently. A playful smile quickly appeared on his face and disappeared just as fast, "After all the nights we've spent together? All the words, and kisses, and moments we've shared, and you think I could possibly have love in my heart for her still? When you've taken up all the space there possibly is?"
"Then why, Gale? Why did you agree to this?"
Gale sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair. He paused a moment, pulling away and looking up into the sky. He looked back at you, searching your face.
"My entire life, I've dreamt of something...more. I always thought I was destined for greatness. Not only because I felt it, but because I was told so. I worked so hard for everything...and wanted to do things no other man has done," He sighed, shaking his head slightly, "What a fool I was. Look where it's gotten me," Looking at you, he smiled sadly and absentmindedly felt the marking of the orb on his chest, "A mistake that easily has cost me my life in many regards. But...if I could do something to stop all this...I must try."
His words hung in the air as you looked out, past the stream and through the clearing. Tortured by the idea of never seeing Gale again, you grabbed his hand and held it tight, giving it a quick squeeze.
"I can't let you do this," You said, whispering, "I refuse to let us come this far for it all to be for naught. I refuse-" You voice caught in your throat, breaking as you spoke, "...I refuse to live in a world without you."
"Darling-" Gale started, but you quickly interrupted him.
"I refuse to live in a world where you, and me, and Tara aren't living in your tower in Waterdeep. I refuse to believe I won't have a life watching the sun set with you, a life where I don't wake up next to you. A life where you don't cook me your famous dinner you've talked about so much-" You heart lurched, seeming to break into a thousand pieces, "You promised you'd cook me dinner." The last words came out as a cry more than a sentence, causing Gale to grab you fiercely and hold on to you.
Soon, you realized you weren't the only one sobbing. A strangled, wet cry landed in your ears as Gale held you close, and now it was blaringly obvious he wasn't doing it just for your sake. You wrapped your arms around him, clutching on to his back just short of digging your fingernails in.
"Your life is not any less important than anyone you would save," You said, gently kissing his neck, "Please remember that. Please remember that you aren't alone, and all of us are here to find another solution. I am here to help find another solution."
"I cannot fail," He said, gently pulling back and looking at you. His eyes, red and shimmering from crying, were mournful. "...I cannot be a failure."
You shook your head gently and took both of his hands into yours, causing him to look down, "You are not. You are a hero....you..." You trailed off, trying to find the words. Were there any words that could encapsulate Gales heroism, the painfully wonderful mark he was already making on the world?
"You are so much more than The Wizard of Waterdeep." You finally said, smiling gently and tucking a piece of hair behind his ear. He slowly looked up at you.
"What can possibly be more than The Wizard of Waterdeep?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Leaning in, you touched your forehead to his.
"Gale," You spoke, "Being Gale is so much more than being The Wizard of Waterdeep."
A small breath escaped his lips as he chuckled lightly, a tear escaping his eye. He kissed you - passionately, his hands finding the back of your head and burying themselves in your hair. His tongue gently opened your mouth as your bodies pushed closer, your hands resting on his chest.
Your heart beat rapidly, the butterflies caused by the kiss fluttering at the same speed as your pulse. You loved this man so ferociously that sometimes it hurt. You'd do anything to protect him, to help him...to save him.
Eventually, he pulled away and looked into your eyes.
"We will find another way," He said finally, gently. "I...will find another way."
You nodded encouragingly, a smile playing on your lips, "We will. The world cannot lose you because the 'Mistress of the Weave' says so. I won't allow it."
Gale laughed at his, running a thumb down your cheek, "Bold words."
"Bold words that I plan to force into action, if necessary." You spoke, matching his smile.
"You are fierce, my love," Gale said, gently rising and offering a hand to help you up. You accepted it and he pulled, wrapping you in his arms, "You are a fierce thing. There is no one like you."
"And there is no one like you," You retorted, inhaling his scent as he held you, "World famous or not." Pulling away, you took his hand and started to lead him back to the camp, "Life will not be complete until we are back in Waterdeep. Together. Forever."
Gale nodded. "You're just saying that because you want me to cook you my famous roast dinner."
Laughing, you looked at him, his eyes twinkling. You felt at home as you searched his face, the familiar lines causing your heart to speed up.
Gale was your heart, your home. Your present and your future, and where there was him, there was joy. Notoriety or not, nothing on this planet could make you happier than him.
Elminster and Mystra be damned, you would fight this thing tooth and nail.
The two of you. Together.

Did you get another request? It's headcanons for Astarion, Gale, and Halsin react to his shy gn crush confessing to him before running away because they're scared of being rejected. Thanks!
Okay I DID get the original request, but accidentally published it when I meant to put it in my drafts, apologies! I'd like to thank the Down By The River Music Box Version for giving me the focus I needed to do this in one sitting! XD Also these three are my BOYS I LOVE THEM
Warnings: None! (besides fluff)
Notes:  My requests are currently open! My pinned post (found here) contains both a list of characters I write for, and a masterlist!  Original character list - please request for these too!
Tumblr media
Astarion
Before you even start the conversation with him about liking him, Astarion knows what this is going to be about. He just knows - he's been through this enough times to recognise that look on your face.
It's an easy conclusion to come to - to him, it's a thought of... 'who doesn't like him?' He's hardly known someone that he couldn't tempt, one way or another.
As you approach him, his lips are already curling up into that familiar sultry smile of his. He knows exactly how he wants to play this: "Well, well... If it isn't my favourite travelling companion... What brings you to my tent, my dear?"
You feel your cheeks burn as soon as he opens his mouth, your gaze casting aside as the words hit your ears. He always seems to know how to take someone's breath away.
You blurt out your confession as fast as your lips can manage, nothing more than a mash of words, hardly understandable - but Astarion understands with ease. He's been through this a lot, he knows the dance all too well. Before he can let a chuckle leave his throat, you're gone, leaving naught but a cloud of dust in your wake.
Nevertheless, had you been within earshot of the elf, you would have heard a rather dry laugh from his lips. To have someone turn tail from him, it's new. Something about the situation speaks to him though - it shows that, even after he's seen two hundred years of nothing but shadows and debauchery, there's still innocence in the realms. And he sees that it lives on in you. It's almost... endearing to him. Almost. Unfortunately it takes a lot to make his undead heart stir, anymore.
Unlike most, Astarion doesn't chase after you - he doesn't even consider it. In his past, he's never been one to chase after someone who likes him, he's always a magnet for them. He stays comfortably in his tent, eagerly awaiting your return. He knows you will, no matter how shy you are, or how long it takes.
Such a sweet thing... I'm sure they'll come around to speaking more openly eventually. Astarion's thoughts echo all that he knows from his past - one way or another, those who are charmed by him come back; though, he must admit, he does quite like the idea of playing this little game with you, whether you realise you are playing or not.
Tumblr media
Gale
Gale doesn't really label your timid nature or actions as 'shyness', he sees it much more as an air or aura of mystique about you - which he absolutely loves. His scholarly instinct tells him to dive in, to explore all there is about you, and to uncover all of your mysteries. However, he knows you are your own person - if you wish to tell him any secrets you have, he's going to let you do so mostly at your own pace, only nudging or prompting once or twice.
When you approach him one evening, he's so over the moon to tell you about something he's recently figured out, relating to a problem you've been trying to solve outside of camp, that he doesn't initially notice the rather skittish demeanour you've adopted. He's so quick to launch into his little pre-planned speech that he hardly notices you talking to him, until you've already run halfway back to your own tent.
Gale just... Stands there, in stunned - almost offended - silence. Had he done something? Was it his recent discovery? Had he launched into it too quickly - given you too much information all at once? All these thoughts go through his head one after the other. He hadn't even caught what you had said, and that worried him the most: He had no clue whatsoever what you had said to him.
So it isn't long before he's practically marching towards your tent - determination in his eyes. He will find out what you had tried to tell him. He clears his throat to get your attention when he gets close enough, folding his arms over his chest in a rather defensive position. "I suppose you have a reason for running off like that whilst speaking to me?" He questions, quite tensely. As you begin to shakily explain your feelings for him, his arms drop to his sides again.
He's very pleasantly surprised to learn that the only reason you ran off mid-conversation was due to embarrassment, rather than anything that he had done. He would hardly have been able to live with himself if that particular question had gone unanswered. So, he settles himself down in front of you. "Alright.. How about we try this again... With you having my full attention this time?"
Tumblr media
Halsin
Halsin could tell by the look on your face that whatever you wanted to tell him, it was important. Of course, true to his nature, he wasn't about to force it out of you - he's much more content for you to take your time in telling him.
So, he just sits with you, in a peaceful silence, waiting for you to work up your courage to ask him. And when you finally do, Halsin can't say he's shocked by the words - it's not always easy to hide attraction or love from someone who's been alive for over three centuries. What does surprise him, however, is the fact that you're so quick to flee the encounter. Though, he finds it quite sweet that you, unlike him, still have embarassment hinging around socialising - particularly when it is centering around matters of the heart. He doesn't think any less of you for it, a skill like that takes years of practice, and he's had three hundred and fifty years to hone this skill of his.
Throughout all his life, and his many lovers, this kind of thing has happened to him only a handful of times, so it still catches him off-guard most of the time. Thankfully, he knows how to handle the situation.
He gives you some time to yourself, allowing you to collect your thoughts. He knows that if he tries to approach you too quickly, you may become more frazzled, spiral more in your mind. And that is the last thing he wants. If you two are to be with one another - which he hopes is the outcome of the situation - he wants you to have a clear head, and know what you want.
When he does decide it's the right time to go to you, the first thing he does, is ask if you are alright. "How are you faring, my heart?" He takes a chance with the nickname, and he can just about see with the way your head whips round to look at him that he's certainly caught your attention. "You seemed... Out of yourself, before. Perhaps you would like to discuss it?" He moves to sit with you then, and even as he kneels , he towers over most. "At your own pace, of course..." He offers you a smile. It's a kindhearted smile - one that you can tell is straight from his heart. You feel a little more comfortable, and though it is a slow conversation, you get there before dawn.

PARTY OF TWO +18
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: You and Gale are looking for a reason to ditch your friends at the tavern— why not make that reason each other?
WORD COUNT: 4.3k
UNDER THE CUT: F!reader, thigh-riding, praise kink, p in v, vaginal fingering, mirror sex, bondage (mage hand), multiple orgasms, love hotel, somewhat switch-y gale
The bustling tavern is filled with the sounds of drunken chatter and the occasional song. You sympathize with the bartender, who struggles to keep up with the demands of slurring customers. You think they wouldn't need so many refills if half of their drinks didn't end up on the floor.
You glance around from your seat at the bar, gaze hopping through patrons. Karlach is on her ninth pint, Wyll captivates a crowd with a far-fetched tale, and Astarion has found a pretty, young thing to entertain himself with. They all carry smiles on their faces and rosy cheeks, something you haven't had the pleasure of seeing in quite some time.
You're glad your friends seem to be enjoying themselves— you know how badly they've been needing to. Their plates have been full recently, so it's nice to be able to settle down for some fun.
As for yourself... well, let's just say you were outvoted when it came to agreeing on what "fun" was. This place is a little chaotic for your tastes, and not to mention tart from all the dwarf sweat and beer. You try not to cringe at how every surface is sticky and how every song that's sung is just slightly off-key.
Amidst your grumbling, a familiar figure takes the open spot beside you, and by the look on his face, you realize you're not the only one who's fighting the urge to be a spoilsport.
Gale— the ambitious wizard from Waterdeep. You two don't speak much, meaning you've yet to break the barrier of "acquaintance". You've never really sat down with him for more than small talk, not even at camp. You will admit though, from what you've picked up about him through eavesdropping has left you somewhat curious.
You think now might be a good time to finally get to know each other better. Besides, it doesn't appear that anyone else is willing to bond over your distaste for such lively establishments.
Your gaze flickers his way, confident and gregarious. Although, the ice-breaker on your tongue melts away once you notice that he's already looking in your direction. There's a slight raise to one of his brows and a tug at the corner of his mouth.
"... Gale—!" You needlessly announce his presence before your voice dies out.
You're not sure what it is, but for some reason, you seem to have forgotten how to speak. Your mouth hangs slack, and your throat is too tight for any words to escape. Maybe his staring caught you off guard— or maybe you'd forgotten just how attractive he is until now.
He sends you a small, perturbed smile, and you instantly feel the responsibility to cease the silence between you. "Sorry," you apologize for your offbeat behavior, then make a gesture to the glass in front of you. "Guess that's a sign to slow down, isn't it?"
It's unclear whether he's laughing at you or with you when he replies, "One too many?"
Your attention gravitates toward his fingers wrapping around his glass, then shifts to the liquid inside as it meets his lips. The sip is quick before he finds your eyes again.
You hope your ogling is averted fast enough to remain inconspicuous. "Not enough to make being here worthwhile," you respond flatly.
He hums in agreement, bouncing his brows up once. "I'm not too keen on taverns myself."
You both watch as Karlach engages in an arm wrestling match with a half-orc man across the room, the audience surrounding them getting rowdier by the minute.
He turns back to you with a smile and a shrug. "I'm more fitted for gatherings of a lesser degree." He pauses, appearing thoughtful before adding, "A bit of one-on-one, if you will."
His last sentence piques your interest, and you scan him inquisitively to figure out if it means what you think it does. There's an air of playfulness to him as you meet his gaze once more, an inviting glimmer in the shadow of his brow.
It doesn't take a genius to know that was an attempt at flirting with you, and if you have any sense, you'll see where this can take you; it's not everyday you get to romp with a man who's allegedly bedded a goddess.
You feign coyness by taking a sip from your glass. "It seems we're both outliers in that respect," you say to him over the chanting invading the building— from it, you conclude the consensus is that Karlach will win the match.
"Observant," he remarks, leaning in your direction. There's a look of confidence on his face that is wholly endearing, not to mention flattering. "I know of a much better place for it. I was thinking about heading there now, actually."
Your brow cocks upward as if the proposition on his mind is hidden from you. "Oh?" you hum, your fingernails tapping at your glass absentmindedly. "... Are you meeting someone?" You ensure that your voice is sweet, yet harboring a hint of longing behind it.
"I suppose it's fortunate I'm not, since I was hoping I wouldn't have to go alone."
You return the grin he gives you, knowing and affirming. A buzz of anticipation blooms in your chest when he places a palm on your knee, beckoning an explosion of heat to the skin beneath it.
Drifting closer, he speaks as if only for the two of you to hear, "you wouldn't mind accompanying an old wizard, would you?" His words are like honey by your ear, smooth and tempting. It sends the slightest shiver down your spine.
He pulls away just enough to meet your eyes, watching, waiting. You pretend to think on it, but he doesn't appear to fall for it for a second. "Hmm... that doesn't seem like it'd be too out of my way."
The hand on your knee flexes into a squeeze, a pleased twinkle in his eye. "Lovely."
You sneak out the door together, allowing him to place a guiding hand at the small of your back. The touch is that of a gentleman's, yet you feel the slightest tremor bubbling its way to the surface now and then.
The tension only rises between you with teasing exchanges. After some playful coaxing, he admits how he'd had his eye on you since the night began— how long he'd been waiting to get you alone.
"What were you waiting for?" You question, intrigued. It's not like anyone was stopping him.
"Approaching someone as sightly as yourself takes the courage of a lion.” He shoots you a flirtatious grin, his stare shameless and unwavering. “As you can imagine, that’s not an easy amount to muster.”
"Courage?" You repeat with a laugh. He's taken aback when you impede his path, a scheming tug to your lips. You study him a moment before raising your hand to his cheek, tilting your head slightly.
With a half-lidded gaze, you follow your fingers as they begin to trace over his bearded jaw. "Do I make you nervous, Gale?" You smile ever so sweetly. Your fingertips travel from his jaw to his lips, just barely touching the soft skin; you feel his warm, uneven exhales against them.
As you slowly bring your mouth to meet his, he seems almost frozen. Though, just as your lips graze, he places a hand at the back of your neck and closes the distance himself.
The kiss is hungry— impatient. His palms slide down to your hips, pulling you flush against him. The warmth of his body meshes with yours, and the exchanging of your breaths is visible in the cool, night air. You seem to get lost in the embrace, forgetting that you're still on the street; as a result, the hand you have resting on his chest slithers down his torso, a finger slipping into his waistband.
He makes a humming noise and reluctantly pulls away, his grip securing around your wrist to steady it. "Let's not get too eager," he chuckles, though you can tell his arousal is getting the better of him. "We've almost reached our destination— wouldn't want to spoil the fun, now would we?"
You giggle a little bit at the implication of 'spoiling the fun', then allow him to link his arm with yours as you continue onward, your pulse still thrumming with adrenaline. "Will you tell me where we're going?" You nudge him, wondering just what his clever mind has in store for you.
"It's better as a surprise, if that's alright with you."
A surprise, you note, sporting a subtle expression of delight. If you're being honest, your first impression of Gale left much to be desired— you thought he was, for a lack of a better word, simple. But this night has proven you wrong so far, and you hope it'll continue to go that way.
And, much to your amusement, it does.
You stand outside of a two-story building, the cobblestone exterior lit with the flames of lanterns hanging from the balcony. Also placed in distance of the light is a sign that you recognize.
He didn't just take you to any old inn, but an inn specifically for lovers.
While walking to the room he purchased at the desk, he turns to look down at you on the stairs. "So? What do you think?" He says, a lilt to his tone that exposes how pleased he is with himself.
"Would it surprise you if I said I've never stayed here before?"
"You're joking!" His face contorts in an almost scandalized fashion, searching you for any signs of jest. "Well, I guess I'll have to be the one to help you get familiar then." He sends a reassuring wink in your direction, then continues to lead you down the second-floor hallway.
Upon reaching your room, he holds the door open for you, placing a palm on your lower back to direct you in. You're stunned as you enter; the decor is like nothing you've ever seen before— from the circular bed draped with curtains, the luxurious bath, and the decorated mirror anchored to the ceiling.
"This is..." your voice trails off, truly at a loss for words. After hearing the door shut and lock, a presence approaches you from behind. Promptly, you feel the gentle ghosting of lips on your neck.
You inhale sharply as his breath leaves goosebumps on your skin. Hands resting on your waist, he holds you in place as he leaves the softest, teasing kiss behind.
"I know this is ill-mannered of me..." he starts, his voice suddenly deep and gravelly by your ear. "But I cannot wait any longer. Please."
The subtle desperation in his tone makes you shiver. Your lips part as he begins to run his hands up your body, traveling their way along your torso. You let out a small whimper at how his large, calloused palms feel through the thin material of your dress, how warm and inviting they are— how you wish for them to touch your bare body instead.
"Is this still what you want?" The short hairs on his jaw brush your skin as he speaks, breaths hastening as if he's raring for the green light.
You're almost too distracted by how his fingers restlessly bunch up the fabric just below your chest to answer. "Y-yes." You place your hands over his, moving them up. They finally engulf your breasts, his thumbs running over the hardened nipples begging to be freed.
"Yes, what?"
You turn your head slightly to peer at him over your shoulder. "I want you to fuck me." A warmth surges through your cheeks as the sentence leaves your mouth, the vulgarity of it both humiliating and exciting.
He's been anticipating hearing those words all night— keyed up like a dog waiting to be thrown a bone. He places a palm on your jaw and angles you to kiss him; it's reminiscent of the one on the street, but this time he doesn't hold back. It's raw and unrestrained, his tongue meeting yours and his teeth tugging on your bottom lip.
He pulls away to direct your figure to the wall. The material is cold on your cheek as he pins you against it, caging you between his arms. Aching for his touch, you arch your back to press your ass into him. He shamelessly rubs his hard-on against you for friction, letting out a broken moan by your ear and causing your thighs to squeeze together.
His hand snakes beneath the hem of your dress, seeking the pulsing heat between your legs. You widen your stance to give him better access, jaw falling slack as he locates your needy clit through your panties. You grind into his fingertip, impatient with how he toys with you— he picks up a rhythm only to break it, then repeats.
You let out a sound of frustration, and his solution is to stick his thigh between the two of yours.
You quickly pick up on what he's suggesting. “Gale," you say testily, unamused with his games. You'd much rather he'd just fuck you already.
"I want to watch," his voice comes out pleadingly and defensive. He lets out a shuddering breath before he licks his lip and mutters, "please, just… humor me."
The neediness in his tone raises goosebumps on your skin. You throb in response, a new wave of heat gathering to your cunt. You've never considered such an act, but he's convinced you with just a simple sentence. Lowering your weight onto him, you feel how the slick clinging to your folds smears into your undergarment, leaking through to paint your inner thighs.
He groans as he watches you use his thigh to get off, his cock twitching at how you whimper when he flexes the muscle. One hand leaves the wall to settle on your hip, and he uses it to guide you in slow, circular motions, causing your eyes to flutter shut.
His hips buck once he sees the pleasure on your features, a shaky moan leaving his throat. "You look so beautiful like this," he says through ragged breaths of arousal, watching how your brows knead together and your lips separate. "Keep going."
You feel a knot form in your lower stomach as he begins to bounce his knee, sending vibrations to your clit. His tempo is steady and relentless, eliciting a familiar, overwhelming sensation that courses through your veins. "G-gale," you say in a panic, "I can't. I'm going to— I can't—!" You fight off your orgasm with everything you've got, trying not to succumb to the waves of pleasure he sends through you.
You squirm in his grasp, but he keeps you in place. "It's okay, you're okay," he assures you, though he sounds like he's lingering on the edge himself. As if his words are a cue, your eyes squeeze shut and you finish on his thigh. Flashes of white dance behind your eyelids as you moan his name, your body jerking as it tenses repeatedly.
"S-shit," he stutters, biting his lip at how you move against his cock. He seems to hold his breath until you're done, letting out a heavy sigh of relief after he's succeeded in not coming prematurely as well.
He grips your shoulder with one hand, his thumb moving in circles over your skin as you recollect yourself. You attempt to turn around after a moment, yet you find that the buzzing in your legs makes for difficult use.
"Need a lift?" He laughs a bit.
You nod at him, putting your arms around his neck. With his palms settling just below your ass, he lifts you in one swift motion, carrying you in the direction of the bed.
Just as he begins to lay you down, he kisses you again— slow and seductive this time, but somehow hungrier. Your back gently meets the mattress, the fluffy duvet moulding around your shape and encasing you like a cloud. Your mouths begrudgingly disconnect, and as you open your eyes, you're taken aback by the reflection of yourself behind his head.
He notices your surprise, though the way he's looking you up and down says he has more important things on his mind. His gaze is heavy and almost daydreamy as he speaks, "I wanted you to be able to see yourself." He sits up to remove his shirt, tossing it aside before reaching for the zipper of your dress. "I wanted you to see how gorgeous you look while I fuck you."
You arch your back to assist him in removing the garment, watching as he pulls it to the ends of your feet. All your body is exposed except for your cunt, which he seems to be saving for last.
You finally feel his touch on your skin, placing your hands over his as they make a map of your figure. You guide him to your tits, rolling your head back into the pillow as he begins to knead them. His eagerness elicits a perfect mixture of pleasure and pain, the pressure just enough to satiate you.
Your fingers card through his hair as he places sloppy, wet kisses on your neck. The strands fall haphazardly over his features as you knock them from their place. When he sits up, you note how much this look suits him— messy hair, pink lips, and a heaving chest.
Disrupting your ogling, your eyes glance down at the bulge in his pants. You let out an impatient whine, reaching for it. As your fingertips graze the material of his clothes, your wrists are promptly snatched and restrained to the bed.
It all happens so fast, you don't quite realize how he's got you pinned despite both of his hands resting on his thighs in front of you. With furrowed brows, your gaze flits up above your head; a blue, transparent hand holds your wrists down, limbless and airborne. You almost feel silly for not assuming a wizard would use magic— even at a time like this.
"Clever," you cock an eyebrow, sending him a playful grin.
If his face wasn't already flushed, it definitely is now. He seems to get a bit flustered by the praise, smiling back somewhat awkwardly. "I occasionally like to think so."
With that, he begins kissing down towards your navel, his palms running along the sides of your body as he does so. He uses a light, teasing touch, making your skin react with sensitivity. You writhe in the Mage Hand's grasp, at which he peeks upward with a prideful pull to the corner of his mouth.
Once he reaches just above your underwear, he lifts his head, resulting in your body yearning for the return of his warm breaths. His fingers slip beneath the elastic covering each hip, delicately and smoothly removing the article from your figure. His gaze is fixated on your cunt— how it glistens under the lantern light from the bedside table.
He groans involuntarily at the sight, dipping one of his fingers into your contracting hole. It slides in effortlessly, though your walls squeeze around him in excitement. "Oh, Gods..." he mutters to himself, adding a second finger. It fits snugly, and he separates them inside of you to test how tight you are.
You whine, need prevalent in your tone. "Gale—" you choke back a moan as he begins pumping in and out of you. His pace is slow and agonizing, brushing against your G-spot but lacking the right vigor. He seems to be too deep in his admiration, merely doing it for his own enjoyment. "Gale—" in a show of desperation and faltering patience, you use your feet to buck your hips off the bed. "—I need you. Now."
Your plea snaps him out of his trance. He stops altogether, instead becoming awestruck at the sight of your body teeming with desire as it tugs against its restraint. You pout when he removes his fingers, watching as he pops them into his mouth to clean them. His brows come together as he savors the taste, though he doesn't linger on it for long as he quickly begins fumbling with the waistband of his pants.
He pulls the material from his hips, slinging both that and his underwear to the floor. You watch with blown pupils as his cock springs free, wishing you could run your fingertips down the happy trail on his stomach all the way to his shaft.
Holding your stare, he uses his hand to give himself a few pumps, smearing the excess of precum over his sensitive head. His body jolts slightly from the sensitivity, a small moan bubbling up his throat.
With that, he lowers himself on top of you, and you readily spread your legs for him. His tip finally breaches your entrance, and you let out a sound of relief into his mouth as he kisses you. He starts out slow, but you're not sure if it's for your sake or his. A sharp breath is sucked through his teeth as he fully sheathes himself into your warmth, reveling in how your cunt tries to draw him in further.
"You're not making this easy, are you?" His words come out strained by your ear.
You laugh breathily in response. "Maybe that'll teach you not to be such a tease next time."
With a groan, he begins to move. The bed creaks under every thrust he makes, sending ripple after ripple of pleasure to your core. Lewd noises fill the room as he repeatedly delves into your wet hole, the squelching building with his rhythm. Your legs wrap around his back, trying with all your strength to pull him closer, closer, until you finally feel his base hit your opening.
His head moves to nuzzle against your shoulder, and the reflection of your entangled bodies on the ceiling is made visible to you. You watch his back flex with every movement, noting how he completely loses himself between your legs; every now and then you'll see the tendons in his hands bulge as he grips the sheets, or how he kisses your collarbone to cover up a moan.
In your infatuation, you remember him mentioning the mirror being there for you to watch yourself, not him. Your eyes flit back to your face, almost surprised by who's staring back at you— stray hairs decorate your features, your brows are kneaded together in ecstasy, and your puffy, swollen lips are parted to accommodate your ragged panting— you’ve never seen yourself look so out of sorts. In fact, something about it turns you on more.
Just look at what he's done to you, how he's made you unravel for him. He has you restrained to the bed like you're his whore, and you don't even fight it. He begins to fuck you faster, harder, chasing an orgasm, all the while you lie there and let him have his way with you.
The coils in the bed groan as he pounds into you, his grunts continuously more audible than the last. The muscles in his arms tense repeatedly, riddling his limbs with ridges of definition. His rhythm begins to stutter, the motion of his hips getting sloppy with need; there's a desperation to him that tells you he's close.
You arch your lower back so that each of his needy thrusts hits your G-spot, forcing a loud moan from your chest. The persistent stimulation has your core tightening and a pit forming in your stomach as you anticipate your high. You take in a few shallow breaths before throwing your head back, your second orgasm violently ripping through you. Your body squirms uncontrollably beneath him, digging your nails into your palms.
He has a front row seat to your symphony of pleasure, each mewl like heaven to his ears. "I love the sounds you make," he praises, wishing he had the blessing of hearing you like this more often.
As if hoping to draw out his climax now, your velvety walls spasm and tighten around him, pulling moan after moan from his lips. "I want you to cum," you whimper against his ear, your voice shaky from his relentless pace. "Cum for me. Please."
He falls apart under your coaxing. Letting out a choked sound of euphoria, he reluctantly pulls himself from you. You gasp at the sudden feeling of emptiness while he finishes onto your stomach, watching how he throws his head back and bucks his hips with each spurt of cum.
Layers of warm seed spread across your heaving abdomen. The magic binding your hands almost immediately breaks, turning into a cloud of blue that fizzles into nothing. Your aching wrists fall haphazardly to your sides, too exhausted from remaining in that position to move again.
After a moment of recuperation, he stumbles to his feet, grabbing a towel by the bath before soaking it with the warm water inside. When he returns, he sits on the side of the bed, gently and delicately wiping up the mess he'd left on you.
He looks so focused while he cleans, making sure the rag doesn't leave anything behind. You can't help fawning at his concentration, a soft smile finding its way onto your face. He glances up once before doing a double take, not expecting to find you staring. He laughs, albeit a little awkwardly.
He then picks up your tired wrists and massages them, leaving a small peck on each. You assume that's his way of 'kissing it better'.
Once he's done, he leaves the cloth in a damp wad on the nightstand. Flopping onto the bed with a hand supporting his head, he turns to look at you. "So… shall we do it in the bath next?"

A little blurb I wrote where my Tav has a breakdown after Elminster's bad news visit.
Not sure why I wrote it from Astarion's perspective, it just flowed out that way. They are just barely friends, but he can be kind sometimes. It helps that he doesn't like Mystra either.
Tumblr media
Astarion found Elise standing on her own on the outer rim of the campsite. She faced away from the party's tents, over the cliff side and out into the sprawling view of trees, rivers, ruins and waterfalls. The setting sun cast rays of light across the land, and onto her. The whole thing would make a rather romantic picture, except the Vampire knew she was in quite the state.
Elminster, the most famous Wizard in Faerun had just paid the group a visit, and bore some...troubling news, to say the absolute least. The very embodiment of magic and the goddess of the weave, Mystra had commanded that Gale use the Netherese Orb lodged in his chest to end The Absolute, and his own life in the process. And the wizard seemed immediately of the mind to obey in a frankly disheartening desire for her forgiveness.
After Elminster had made his leave, Astarion caught the tail end of conversation between Gale and Elise. She was distraught, but firm in telling the man that his group of capable friends (a strong word, Astarion had thought), would find another way to end the Absolute, and that she would not allow him to kill himself. He'd heard Gale's voice grow indignant, saying that she should, "keep such assuredness in check until we've seen the severity of the threat we face." And that she "may reconsider her stance" once they had.
He'd heard Elise, angry for the first time since he'd met her, say back with wet eyes, "I won't. We already know The Absolute is a threat to the entire Sword Coast, and yet I'm still not willing to sacrifice you. I will not lose you, Gale!"
Astarion observed the look they exchanged with each other from a distance, but could read a number of emotions between the two of them. Anger, sadness. Desperation.
He knew neither of them had said in any certain terms how they felt for the other, and doubted they were either even aware of mutual feelings for certain. However, they'd both have to be complete idiots not to know it now. Gods knew everyone else did.
Elise has turned away then. Astarion assumed she was too overwhelmed by the moment. As was Gale, going by the positively bewildered look on his face as she hurried away. Awash with feelings anyone would likely have a hard time pinning down.
Probably elation, to know someone cared enough for him to argue against the wishes of a goddess. A devoted cleric no less, who knew better than most the weight of a direct command. Maybe guilt for putting said person in the middle of such heavy affairs. Maybe anger at Elise for denying him his chance at forgiveness, or maybe anger at Mystra for dangling it in front of him in this way. Likely all of these.
Astarion could speculate all evening, but ultimately what the wizard was feeling was of little interest to him. He personally thought Mystra's "charge" was ridiculous, but was not about to have a discussion with Gale himself about it.
Astarion had given it a couple hours for minds to gather and emotions to cool before he sought Elise out. He stood behind her at the cliff now, contemplating how he wanted to approach her. Uncertain why he felt compelled to in the first place. This whole thing really wasn't his concern (aside from the threat to his immediate person, should Gale detonate nearby). He and Elise were not exactly "close" by any normal standards, and it's not as though he thought he'd have anything particularly helpful to contribute, but that look in her eyes as she stormed off before...
"I can not believe Mystra expects Gale to blow himself up with the Absolute!" He said aloud, striding over to her side. He caught her flinch, but she did not look up at him. Her eyes were locked on nothing in the distance. He continued, his tone dismissive, "What a waste of a perfectly good cult we could be controlling! And..a perfectly good Gale, I suppose."
He heard her exhale with a tight, barely there smile that vanished as quickly as it came. Her hands were together, moving restlessly as she absentmindedly (with an absolutely packed mind) churned her fingers, picking at various injuries and calluses across her skin. A long silence settled between them.
"It's...quite the situation he's in." Elise finally said, a strange quality to her voice, "Quite the choice to make. I'm...I'm afraid of what he wants to do."
"He wants to go through with it. Stubborn idiot." Astarion humorlessly chuckled.
"I think I'm in love with him." Elise said suddenly, with the quickest glance to Astarion before she thought better of it, eyes flicking back to the open landscape.
Astarion blinked in surprise. Of course he knew how she felt about Gale. As mentioned before, the only two people in the whole camp who seemed none the wiser were the two fools involved. But, hearing her admit it so plainly, it definitely wasn't expected. Especially not to him given their...history.*
Astarion said nothing, letting his silence be her encouragement to go on, which she seemed to take as such.
"And that's just my luck, isn't it?" She started with her own humorless and breathless laugh. Her composure like a fragile porcelain vase, "I finally find someone who I think would honestly, and truly care for me. Who is everything I'd look for in a partner."
Her feet shift, her hands become more animated as she talks, and her voice grows unsteady, "And the very God he worships comes-No, she sends a dear friend to speak for her! Demands he kill himself in the name of forgiveness. And not just the very deity he worships, who grants him the powers he's dedicated his entire life to, no! She's also his former lover. Who's forgiveness he's been pinning for since angering her in the first place. Who, I..Ha!" A single, somewhat wild laugh, before becoming quiet again, "Someone who I c-…could never compare to."
A quick hand comes up to wipe at her eyes, the other gesturing about, "And I know I am being the most selfish woman alive right now. Nothing, in all the realms, could be any less about me. But, Gods!" The vase cracked along with her voice. She looked to Astarion finally with eyes welled with tears, "I really don't want him to fucking die." And then the vase shattered. Her head turned away again, both hands came to cover her face as her whole body shook with sobs she just couldn't keep back any longer.
Astarion's hand faltered and hung in the air as he reached for her. He didn't quite know what to do. Besides the surprise of seeing a person he knew as well composed and emotionally private come apart in front of him, comforting anyone wasn't exactly something he'd ever say was a strong suit. Not genuine comforting outside of luring, anyway. But, perhaps his previous skills would come in handy here regardless. He cautiously reached out again, his fingers just barely grazing her back when she was suddenly against his chest, crying into his shoulder.
Contact like this wasn't Astarion's favorite thing, and his instinct might have been to back away or push anyone off any other time, but the Vampire would be lying if he said he didn't feel anything for her sorrow. So, he gingerly wrapped an arm around her to place a hand on her back.
Mystra's demand was absurd. For many reasons. The threat to everyone else's lives should the man blow up not being the least of them. Gale was a fool to consider it at all.
And, for all their empty flirting, jabs at one another and bickering, Elise was someone Astarion would consider…considering, a friend. At least, she was someone he could trust. The first in a very long time. Seeing her this upset certainly wasn't amusing by any stretch. He also realized he may have underestimated her feelings for Gale. Clearly not a simple puppy's crush.
"I'm sure we'll find another way." Astarion said with the usual playful lilt absent. Until, "At least, you and the other 'heroes' in our merry band will."
Minutes went by in silence except for Elise's crying that eventually turned to sniffling as she got her emotions under control. Astarion's hand still placidly rested between her shoulder blades until she straightened up from him. She didn't step back just yet, and neither did he, but his hands did go to connect behind his back.
"P-...please don't mention any of this to Gale. To anyone." She said, her hands disguised as wiping tears from both eyes almost definitely there to hide what she could of her face. Astarion imagined she felt a little embarrassed by this outburst, given how reserved she normally was.
He let out his usual guffaw, "Darling, what kind of gossip do you take me for?"
She didn't laugh, but the chastising look she gave him through reddened eyes did at least settle any doubt in his mind that she'd (eventually) be alright.
"I'll keep this between us." He took a step back then, as did she. A mutual understanding of tolerances Astarion appreciated, "Although...Knowing how you feel about him might be in Gale's best interest. It might be enough to sway his mind."
She met his eyes, and for a moment he worried she might start back up again, but Elise only huffed a sigh and crossed her arms as if a chill blew in, "I don't think so. Not when put up against Mystra."
Atsarion fought hard not to roll his eyes. Trifling, manipulative gods and a mortal's insecurity in the face of them. What else was new. "It might be worth a try anyway."
She looked out at the scenery again, avoiding an argument, "I'll tell him in time. Just...not now. I can't. It would feel like I'm only trying to sway him. I don't want there to be any doubts about my sincerity."
Astarion's turn to huff a sigh, "Alright, whatever you say. I'm going back to camp, don't wallow out here all night."
He turned to head back, only getting a couple steps before he felt her hand on his arm, "Wait! Astarion?"
He looked back at her, she let her hand drop away. That tolerance understanding again. "Thank you. For this. For allowing me to just...have a moment. I won't forget it."
Astarion smiled at her. A real one. Almost none of the usual snark behind it. Almost, "You've allowed me to drink from you. Seems the absolute least I could do to allow you to lean on my cold shoulder." He lifted a finger, a sternness covering his features, "Just this once."
Elise nodded, smiling as her friend turned and walked back to his tent.

Astarion & Everyone, Astarion & Gale, maybe platonic, maybe more :)
When he wakes, he is on a beach, gold, looking up at the sun. Ah, he thinks, distant. I'm dreaming.
Astarion is never quite sure, until the moment Cazador lies dead before him, whether this entire adventure is anything more than an extremely vivid hallucination.

hey all! figured I'd at least try posting on here, since comments aren't a super easy way to talk to readers, so I'm here as well :)

I desperately need a Professor Dekarios fluffy fic where Gale is crushing on/in love with a Secretary at the academy. I just don’t want to write it 😅
Anyway here are thoughts about it:
I need him to be charming and flirty, a bit shy around her- blushing cheeks and rambling far too long and worrying he’s making a fool of himself (but she loves it). I need her to be painfully oblivious, for long enough that Gale is practically making heart eyes at her when he sees her walk by his classroom.
I need him to run into something, making his papers and books scatter because he got distracted by her.
I need her to stop by his classroom after his lesson to deliver something, and before you know it she’s sitting on his desk, and he’s drawing things out on the chalkboard as he talks enthusiastically about his favorite subject as they gab back and forth right through a faculty meeting they were supposed to attend.. an hour ago.
I need him to nearly swoon when she “gifts” him (found in the academy library) a book he’s been searching for- “Professor- I managed to find this the other day. I thought I’d snag it for you before a student could take it.” she’d say, handing him the book amongst her stack of documents. “I realize now that might sound bad.. I promise I don’t regularly withhold books from students.”
Maybe following up with handing him an extra pack of chalk, “oh- and we had extra. I saw you were running now.” and poor Gale is fucking smitten.
I need Gale to be impressed when she indulges him on his favorite subjects, or when he doesn’t realize she’s familiar with the topics.
I need him to flirt of course, but I also need him to say something he realizes sounds like some sort of innuendo, and he’s just blushing and scrambling to correct himself.
You know he’d also *love* when she calls him “Professor” / “Professor Dekarios”. Just saying.
Do you see the vision??
I say I don’t want to write it but then I ramble on here for paragraphs about it

Little One
After defeating the Netherbrain and settling in Waterdeep with Gale, you become pregnant. To no one's surprise, Gale is very excited.
Pairings: Gale x reader who can become pregnant
Warnings: allusions to sex, throwing up, fluff
Word Count: 2.4k
Requested: yes
A/N: I know it's cannon that Gale doesn't want kids, but a lady can dream. Banner made by me, I do not give permission for my work (banner or writing) to be shared without my consent.
Tumblr media
The sunlight streamed through the windows as you slowly opened your eyes, the morning birds of Waterdeep gently rustling you out of your sleep. You knew Gale had an early morning class, so you took advantage of his early leave by stretching all of your limbs, taking over the whole bed. You didn’t have anywhere to be before starting your errands that afternoon, so you sighed contently, fluttering your eyes closed “for just a few more moments”. The sunlight felt so nice – the peaceful morning started to pull you under sleep’s spell easily.
That was, until a wave of nausea rushed through you so violently, it made you keel over in bed and moan.
With as much strength as you could muster, you prodded over to the bathroom, having to physically hold your hand over your mouth in fear of expelling whatever wasn’t agreeing with you.
Finally making it inside, you opened the lid of the toilet just in time, emptying yourself of the muck with a loud – and very embarrassing – sound. Sweating, you fell to your knees, the anxiety rush of getting sick spreading throughout your entire body. You waited a few moments, panting over the toilet, and just when you thought you were done, another wave of nausea hit you, sending you tipping into the bowl once more.
After what seemed like forever – but in actuality, more like 30 minutes – you stood, walking over to the sink and rinsing your mouth. You heard a soft pitter patter enter the room, and you braced yourself, spitting the gross from your mouth. Silently casting a spell to speak with animals, you wiped your brow.
“Are you alright, dear?” Tara asked, sitting on her little paws and tilting her head. Her tail flicked underneath her, and you could swear she was raising an eyebrow.
Nodding slowly, you huffed, the coolness of the sink tile feeling good against the blaze of your body heat. “I’m…fine. I think I ate something last night that didn’t agree with me.”
“Hm…” Tara mewled, her tail flicking once more, “But Mr. Dekarios had the same dinner as you last night and was up, bright and cheery as normal this morning! How…peculiar.”
You paused for a moment, grabbing the small mirror on the shelf in the bathroom. You looked at yourself – pale, shaking, and sweating – and groaned, feeling uneasy on your feet. You put the mirror back and trotted back into bed, the errands you had to run seemingly start to slip away from you in your current state.
You closed your eyes and pulled the blankets to your neck. Though the nausea was gone, you still felt hollow and sickly inside. You expelled a shaky breath as Tara followed you to the bed, burrowing under the blankets to cuddle up next to you as she often did in the mornings. Her feathers tickled your neck as she circled slowly, trying to find her most comfortable spot. She finally settled, pushing into your stomach, sending a weak pang of sick through you again.
“Oh, dear.” She stated plainly, her voice monotone.
“…‘oh dear’?” You echoed, your voice croaking.
“Darling…you either have a soul-sucking demon in your stomach, stealing your power from the inside…or you’re with child.”
Flying up to a seated position, nearly causing you to get sick again and making Tara fly off the bed, you looked at her.
“What did you just say, Tara?”
Her feathers ruffled as she grumbled, standing up, “Dear, do give me a warning next time you decide to send me sailing in the air.”
“Tara, I need you to speak plainly with me,” You said quickly, your anxiety spiking, “…did you just tell me I was pregnant?”
Tara nodded, a smile playing on her lips, “I did indeed, dearie. Animal intuition…I sensed the babe when I laid next to you. Perhaps a cleric’s visit is in order?”
Sweat broke out on your brow again, but this time it wasn’t from feeling sick. You stood gently, changing into the first clothes you could find. Tara followed you around the room quietly, her tiny feet padding around on the hardwood.
“Pregnant…” You muttered, brushing your hair and scooping it into a bun. Slipping your shoes on, you started to make your way out of the bedroom, “Me? Pregnant? Gods…”
“I wouldn’t be so surprised, dear,” Tara said, now fully smiling, “After all of the nighttime activities you and Mr. Dekarios take part in, is it really any wonder you wound up with child? He seems to have enough practice being called ‘Daddy’, in any sense.”
“Tara! Please – now is not the time.” You grabbed your small satchel from the hook by the front door of your home, shooting a look to Tara, who only smiled smugly at you. You made a mental note to discuss the volume of your nighttime routine with him later in the day.
Heading out the door, you couldn’t help but have a million scenarios run through your head – what if this was just a sickness, and Tara was wrong? Or, what if you were pregnant – how would Gale take the news? How would he be as a father? How would you go about making sure everything was ready for the arrival of the baby?
Your heart was racing as you made your way to the town cleric, hoping to the gods that you could get some answers.
Tumblr media
As the sun was setting, the sky turned brilliant colors of amber and gold. It truly was your favorite time of day – the shades of gold blanketing the world, a sense of calm settling over the ground.
You smiled as you looked out your open kitchen window, dinner cooking away. Periodically you would stir the food, making sure the preparation was going according to plan, but you always returned to that same window. As you peeked through it, you saw Gale walking up the road to your home. He noticed you in the window and gave a little wave, smiling.
You smiled back and walked to the front door, opening it for him. A few moments later he met you at the door, placing a gentle kiss on your cheek.
“My love,” He whispered, pulling back. He sniffed the air and smiled, “Dinner smells marvelous. Absolutely necessary after the lessons I had today.” He strode into your home, gently guiding you back inside before he closed the door. You went back to dinner, starting to chop the garnishes for plating.
“Rough day?”
“Gods, my pupils were just…indescribably distracted today,” He groaned, slipping his shoes off at the door and dropping his bag. He shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips, “I do love them, obviously, and they are wonderfully talented, but they just need discipline.” He groaned as he sat at the kitchen table, rubbing his temples. Sighing, he looked up at you, still smiling, “How was your day, darling?”
You hummed as you plated dinner, putting Gale’s in front of him as you sat down. Out of your pocket, you took a piece of paper out and handed it to him. It was folded in precise lines, sealed with a wax seal. Gale, giving you a confused look, gingerly took the paper.
“Now what is this?” He asked cautiously.
“Open it.” You urged, casually taking a bite of your dinner, but still smiling. He squinted his eyes in mock concern at you, but gently broke the wax seal, unfolding the paper. He cleared his throat before reading aloud.
“‘Dear Mr. Dekarios’,” He started, a flourish in his voice, “‘Congratulations on your newfound journey to…fatherhood’…” Gale stopped short, immediately looking at you. He stopped reading the letter and became very still, “…darling…who is this letter from?”
Tears prickled on your eyes as you swallowed them down, “The town cleric…I saw them this morning…after I woke up awfully sick…and Tara urged me to go…”
Gale paused a moment before gently putting the paper down. A smile played on his lips as he leaned in, “…and…what did you discover at the cleric this morning?”
You smiled and pressed your lips together, trying to stop the tears. You couldn’t help it – they flowed freely as you smiled, “That I am around a month along with our baby.”
Gale was suddenly up from his chair, a loud cheer escaping his lips. He grabbed your hands, pulling you up from yours and wrapped his arms around you. He laughed and ran his hands through your hair, holding you close and kissing you all over your face.
“Gods, please tell me this isn’t a joke, my love.” He said, pulling back. Tears spilled from his eyes as well, matching yours. You laughed and shook your head.
“Not a joke, Gale. We’re having a baby.”
He held on to your arms as another excited cry came from him, pulling you into another hug. You both jumped up and down, holding on to each other and laughing wildly. Gale spun you around the room in a dance, excitedly chirping in your ear about how he would take care of you during the pregnancy, and all the wonderful things to come as parents.
Dinner was very cold before the two of you even attempted to sit down again.
Tumblr media
“Gale, please, leave me be – I really don’t want you to see me like this,” You groaned, your head resting on the toilet. “I am disgusting.”
Gale shushed you quietly, rubbing soothing circles on your back, “Nonsense, my love. I am here for you. And you are beautiful,” He leaned down to press a kiss on your temple, and you heard his breath hitch, “Even if your breath is…less than beautiful.”
“You did this to me, you know,” You murmured, hitting him gently, “Four months ago, you just couldn’t resist bedding me after that dinner we had in town, could you?”
“In my defense, if you were me, and you saw yourself through my eyes in that dress, you’d do the same,” He gently pat your back, “Sickness is just a part of the journey – it does not negate your beauty in any sense.”
“Easy for you to say…you don’t want to puke every time you smell anything cooked with garlic, fish, eggplant, bananas, olives, or pig-” At the mention of food, you immediately felt your stomach lurch and you braced yourself at the toilet. Gale scooted quickly behind you, grabbing your hair gently and placing a firm hand on your side.
“I have you, my love. It’s alright…it’ll pass. I’m right here.” He murmured in your ear quietly as you expelled the feeling from your body, surprised you even had anything else left.
After a few moments, you sat back, sighing heavily. Tears clouded your eyes as you opened them, looking at Gale, “…I think I’m okay for now. Help me up?”
Extending a hand and guiding you up, Gale placed you in front of the sink so you could rinse off. He quickly made his way back into the bedroom, and when you followed him after you were done, you saw he was fluffing the pillows and pushing back the blankets for you. The window above the bed was open, cool air flowing through the room.
You slipped into bed and Gale instinctively slipped an arm around you as you laid on your side. His hand immediately found your now growing belly, and he started to rub his fingers over the protruding mound that wasn’t there four months ago. He placed a kiss on your neck.
“What about the name Tomos, for a boy?” He suggested quietly, his hand moving from your belly to your face, brushing a piece of sweaty hair away from your face.
You contemplated it for a moment before speaking, “Better than ‘Gale Jr.’”
“Gale Jr. is a quite right name, if you ask me.” He retorted.
“What about Jarrett?”
“Hmm…” Gale thought absentmindedly, before changing direction, “What about what we want for a girl?”
“I still like Afrae.” You said.
“Oh! Nadia?”
“Oh, I like Nadia!” You smiled, breathing out a shaky breath. Gale gingerly fondled your belly again.
“How are you feeling?”
“The best I can be after puking my brains out for almost an hour straight this morning.” I grumbled. He tutted in support, palming your belly gently.
“You need to be nicer to your mother, little one,” He said sternly to your belly, “You’re going to be hells on wheels, crying and such, when you come out, so the least you can do is ensure Mother has a good growth period, hmm? What do you say?” He tilted his head towards the belly.
You giggled, turning your head towards him slightly, “I don’t think that’s going to do anything, unfortunately.”
“Humph,” Gale grumbled, “I need to start young…teach our little one who’s the boss in this home.”
“You mean Tara?” You asked, “Because she very obviously is the boss in this home.”
“Darling, I resent that, you know,” He said chuckling. Suddenly, he stopped, “…but that is very true, actually.”
You chuckled and sighed contently, placing your arm over Gale’s that was still resting on your belly. “We still need to get going on the nursery…”
Gale also sighed, shifting so he was closer to you, “I know…we’ll get to it. We still have five months before little Gale Jr. arrives.”
“What do you think about a ‘night sky’ theme, for the nursery?” You asked, completely ignoring Gale Jr. “Maybe it’ll help Little One fall asleep, since it’ll be dark and comforting?”
“That sounds lovely,” Gale said, “Stars painted on the ceiling. I could quite possibly enchant it so the stars twinkle…I’ll make a note to do that at work tomorrow.”
You nodded, your eyelids falling shut. Little One was taking all of your strength – a weird, coincidental omen from how Tara first described them (but much nicer, of course) – and it was hard for you to make it through the day without multiple naps. As you felt yourself succumbing to sleep, Gale held you closer, knowing you were drifting off to sleep.
“Get some rest, my love,” He whispered, kissing your temple, “My beautiful love. Creating the most precious, perfect gift. I am so thankful I get to call you my partner, and the mother of my child. I will never stop reminding you how grateful I am for your love. Forever.”
You drifted off to sleep, a smile on your lips.

Could I request headcanons for Astarion, Gale, and Halsin react to his short gn s/o asking him to sit down after asking for his permission to kiss him on the lips?
Summary: As requested, Anon!
Warnings: Nothing - vague alusions to Astarion's initial aversion to intimacy, mention of nudity, but nothing huge.
Notes: These ones are a tad short again, but I didn't really want to oversaturate them! My requests are currently open! My pinned post (found here) contains both a list of characters I write for, and a masterlist!  Original character list - please request for these too!
Tumblr media
Astarion
"Sit down? Why? are you going to tease me, my sweet?"
He'll do it, if only to amuse you and play along with your little 'game' for the moment - especially in the presence of other people. Be prepared, though - you will hear no end of teasing lines whilst he's sitting himself down. You'd think that he'd actually be quiet, but... No. Of course he won't.
As you start to settle yourself onto his lap, his hands move to your hips, gently cradling them and keeping you steady. His thumbs massage gentle circles over your clothes - though he's not typically seen as a gentle man (or a gentleman), he likes to be that way with you when you're both in private. It's like a little game for him - he can play with you a little bit, flitting between this more gentle side of him and the usual, flirtatious side that he shows everyone else.
He absolutely relishes having you on his lap this way- it's a way that the pair of you can be more intimate with one another without having the 'requirement' to strip down to the nude. It makes him feel safe - though he's unlikely to ever actually tell you that out loud.
Tumblr media
Gale
"Hm? Oh, of course!" He's more than happy to take a seat for you. In his mind, it's an opportunity to be closer to you, to be able to hold you properly. Touch is definitely one of his love languages - though one that he hasn't really been able to explore before this point, purely because of his own actions.
He likes to cradle your face with both of his hands when you lean in to kiss him. Rubbing his thumbs over your cheeks brings a calmness to him that he can only really find in books if he were to really seek it - a deep sense of satisfaction that settles in his chest, a warmth that only a close bond can make.
If you're somewhere where there isn't a chair for him to sit on, he's going to conjure one. As much as he loves you, he's not usually in the mood to mess up his knees every so often. They are quite delicate, despite his prowess in other areas.
Tumblr media
Halsin
"Of course, my heart... Whatever you need." Halsin almost always leans, kneels or sits down for you - his height makes it pretty much a must in all situations. Being over 6 feet tall makes it very difficult for either of you to kiss one another without some sort of compromise, so it's an automatic thing for him. He does find it very sweet that you ask though - it reminds him that you think of him, as much as he thinks of you, when it comes to giving affection.
Halsin LOVES physical touch - like Gale, it's one of his love languages (though, with Halsin, almost EVERYTHING is a love language). A hand will be on your arm, and another on your waist when you kiss - and if he has the urge to pull you even closer to him, his hands automatically settle at the small of your back.
Another thing he loves to do is carry you - one of his favourite kinds of kisses to share with you (because there are many) is one where you're leaning over his shoulder as he carries you on his back - though a close second to that is you leaning down over him as he carries you on his shoulders. He also likes to press kisses to your fingers when he carries you like this - anything to get his lips on you.
