g/t prompt 54 detective stories
imagine how different sizes/size-changing would affect murder mysteries:
the narrative follows a hidden borrower who sees more of what goes on than any of the humans
the detective shrinks secretly to listen in on conversations
size-changing to access hidden passageways and get to other parts of the house faster than they should
human detective routinely works with a fairy detective
no one realizes that oversized prop is actually the stolen jewel everyone is looking for
"If you didn't want me to find your murder weapon, you should have shrunk it smaller"
a giant is looking into a window, taking notes with a large magnifying glass and a comically small pencil/notebook.
examining giant footprints
the location is a closed-circle (no one gets in or out) because of size changing shenanigans
instead of further murders, more and more people keep showing up unexpectedly with no idea how they got there (while the 'innocent' mad scientist gets more and more worried because he didn't know there was a time limit on his shrink ray/potion)
to prevent the discovered murderer running off, a cup is put on top of them

Too many ‘normal’ people in g/t stories I think.
Give me a germaphobe human that loses their mind finding out a borrower has committed the ultimate sin (walked on their counter)
Give me deaf borrower who thinks their being quiet while borrowing, and the human just plays along, pretending they don’t hear all the noise they’re making
Give me autistic giant who holds a human captive simply so they have someone to infodump to
Give me human with visual and auditory hallucinations that just thinks the little guy they’ve seen running around their house is a hallucination
This isn’t even mostly about representation, I just think applying these to the g/t dynamic makes an even more interesting dynamic

Another g/t trope that I love but as a dialogue prompt
Giant: "You're scared of me."
Tiny: "...I don't want to be."

Idea I might make into a story:
So you know fae or fairy's kidnap human children sometimes in mythology? What if the reason they did that was to shrink the children down to their size, and give them wings and magic, turning them into fae.
So one day, a young fairy finds out how fae are made, and runs away to find their human parents.
I'd love to write something like this myself, but feel free to use this concept (and if you end up making anything, tag me in it 👍)

G/T Fluffy Domestic Story Idea
Okay I highkey wanna write this but idfk when, so if anyone else wants to give it a shot (or already has) lmk so I can read it big plz and thank ;-;
G/t story where friendly giant builds whole house to be Tiny accessible while the tiny sits nearby swinging their legs and watches and chats them up, maybe helping where they can or giving pointers over things they struggle with and would need help for:
Walkways up to counters/higher surfaces
pulley systems?
little ladders and staircases everywhere
hehe some slides for the way down
Ways for tiny to turn on sinks for water/showers
giant makes it so all drains have grate bottoms so there's no risk of tiny falling through
maybe a shoelace attached to faucet so tiny can climb out
Safely carrying tiny
if on shoulder, could be interesting if giant has an earing that tiny can attach a harness to so they can't fall (or maybe tiny just holds onto earing like one of those handles for tall people in trains)
giant makes comfy chest pockets in all the shirts they wear at home
Private nook for tiny's bedroom/nest
with a somehow working toilet XD
a cute little wardrobe filled with clothes either the giant or tiny (or both) made
soft bed, maybe out of a commandeered pillow or some of the giant's old clothes
tiny-sized mirror made from smoothed out shard of a larger one
Little sitting areas all over the house
in front of/on windowsills that get direct sunlight
a mini dining table on top of giant's dining table
Mini greenhouse
for fresh fruits/plants/veggies for tiny to pick/care for themselves
flower garden full of those little flower types <3
maybe a mini water fountain
Food storage spot for tiny that's constantly restocked
teeny containers to keep crumbs and the like fresh
something to keep fresh produce cool??
Appliances
tiny cups/plates/utensils (bought or made by giant?)
whittled down graphite for pencils
maybe a teeny inkwell to dip a pin in for a quill/pen
sheafs of paper meticulously cut into the perfect size for tiny
maybe an old iPhone is bought as a TV for the tiny XD
Ways to make sure tiny stays safe while living with a giant
Giant doesn't wear headphones at home and keeps music low
Tiny is properly accounted for before any cleaning gets done (especially vacuuming HA)
Little bells all over the house so tiny can call for help if they need it
Helium balloons periodically exchanged for fresh ones that tiny can tie around their waist when crossing over the floor so they're easy to spot ;3
----
imma prolly keep adding to this as thoughts come to me, but ye this was stuck in my brain like friggin' glue so I had to spill it out, no two ways about it

Size brainrot prompts
Some story ideas i’ve had forever that ive never had the time to develop. If you want them TAKE THEM pleaseeeeeeee!!! And show them to me!! I need these fics with my whole heart T o T -Respectively giant and tiny captives wake up in a blank, alien room, no memory of how they got there, made by their captors to play a game of cooperation for their freedom (jail break? Enemies to friends/lovers? Alien world? Gov Experiment? Who knows!) -summoned to another world(medieval, magic) but everything’s tiny, and the genius wizard who brought you here summoned you by accident. He tries to return you home but cant figure it out so you’re stuck oops (wanted by the military? Learning magic? Domestic cottage core w/ wizard?) -galactic explorer crash lands on earth, but they are tiny and earth was quarantined due to “abnormally aggressive tendencies and unreasonable habitants. Also they’re fuckin BIG”. Found by abnormally angsty and unreasonable (but not malicious) 20-something who learns to be chill. (Galactic federation un-quarantines earth?) -giant of the forest is a local village legend, and the youth of the village do “bravery tests” at night, leaving one of their friends in the woods for the night. Said local legend is actually an anxious mess who stays hidden from the kids each time, protecting them from the shadows while they stupidly walk through bear territory and the like (accidentally seen sometimes, always misinterpreted as aggressive and the kids run back with a scary story)

For Day 2 of GtWAC:
Post a prompt/scenario you wish you saw more often.
~~~
[If you look at the blog name, you already know where this is going.]
Sizeshifters. Just in general. I feel like there’s not enough of them out there, and when they’re implemented, it’s usually just the basic formula. Why not play around with it a bit?
What about a sizeshifter that has trauma related to their powers? Not that shifting itself is what puts them off, but due to some sort of situation, their powers almost got themself or someone else hurt, and they don’t want that scenario repeating again.
What about sizeshifting that hurts? Like bones snapping and reforming as a person grows, or their body feeling like it’s melting when they shrink? How about tying this into emotion/stress-related shifting?
What about monstrous shifting? Not just growing bigger or shrinking smaller, but adopting certain characteristics, like fangs, or claws, or other animalistic traits?
What about shifter fighting? (Because LORD, there’s not enough action at times. Sure, fluff and tame stuff is nice, but also, KAIJU BATTLE!) But also, seeing this in regular G/T stuff would be cool too.
And lastly, what about forced size changes? Be it a shrink/growth ray, some sort of potion, etc., I think it’s a neat idea to play with.
So like, ok I had a story idea, or at least a prompt? With some potential, it’s probably been done before cause it sounds fun in my head so I’m sure others would like it but what about G/t with a cryptozoologist and a borrower/fairy whose an APEX PREDATOR!!! Like delicate tinies is very cute and fun but what about tinies built for endurance and agility, carnivorous like hunters! And of course… we’d think they’re adorable!!! Because a lot of people already live with little apex predators (yea… cats!!! Cat-like borrowers/fairies!!!!)
Again maybe it’s been done, it wasn’t until recently I even found out G/t was a whole subgenre with its own community and I’ve only gotten my hands on a handful of fic’s so far! But I’m really loving it!
Also it’s crazy to find out a trope you like and automatically/subconsciously add to a lot of your own stories is a WHOLE THING!!!!
Legit, I’ve been so delighted and giddy over it
Reverse First Contact AU
This idea just dropped in my brain after watching Harambe's tragic back story. And I'm so excited to tell you this AU. Transformers have become extremely endangered because of the war. They are all on Earth and can't communicate with humans because of the language barrier. Years later, all the possible tech humans were able to extract from them did eventually satisfy human curiosity enough to see them as less of a threat. And humans just now treat the last surviving cybertronians on Earth as though they were simple space curiosities. To be kept in a zoo setting. That are owned by states. Sometimes they are shipped to other states as a way of maintaining cordial political affiliations between nations. Since they are so expensive to maintain and keep in one place. Think of it as a Planet Of The Apes, old gods situation lol. [I revised my ask and decided to make this a separate blog post others can add their ideas to]
Psst hey g/t writers, I got a prompt for ya
Character A is walking through the woods at night. It's pretty clear they're lost, and they look pretty frustrated. They keep walking anyway, listening to the ambient sounds of the forest around them. Leaves rustling, insects chirping, owls hooting, etc, etc.
Suddenly, they hear a soft snapping noise behind them, and stop in their tracks. They glance behind them briefly, looking more annoyed than scared. Then they continue walking. A moment later they hear more sounds behind them, like something is moving through the bushes. They stop again, looking even more annoyed. They take just a few more steps and hear the loudest set of noises yet, multiple branches cracking in quick succession, followed by a clumsy-sounding thud. Character A finally turns around and shouts:
"WOULD YOU QUIT FOLLOWING ME, ALREADY?!?!"
Silence. Nothing moves. Character A squints into the darkness, locates something, and says:
"You know I can see you, right? You aren't hiding very well."
Silence. Character A groans.
"Look, I know I helped you earlier and stuff, and I'm sure you're just being grateful or curious or whatever, but I'm trying to get home right now. I don't have time to deal with... whatever you are. So..."
The thing in the darkness shifts uncomfortably. Character A sighs.
"Okay, look, could you just at least stop trying to act like you're not there? Either come out and tell me what it is you want or just leave me alone, okay? I'm tired."
There's another moment of silence, before slowly, carefully, Character B comes out of the bushes, looking quite sheepish about themselves.
"Took you long enough..." Character A mutters.
(I'll leave it up to you to decide just what Character B is, what size they are, and why they're fascinated by Character A, as well as everything that happens next! Hope you enjoy!)
Had a second thought i need to gush about:
Giant and tiny roommates where the giant has a massive crush on the tiny
It just starts with the tiny finding this out and being scared but the giant is just “LET’S FUCKING GOOOOO!”
The giant constantly teases and helps the tiny such as:
“You could sleep on your tiny bed made of cotton or whatever, or you could sleep on my warm and soft chest, while a giant blanket of even more warmth lays over you and you succumb to the sounds of my heartbeat, so you may sleep in absolute peace”
And the tiny is just constantly rethinking this whole “giants are monsters” mentality they had since they were young.
It even gets to the point when the giant isn’t doting on them they feel worried and even ask about their unusual behaviors
“Hey, you passed by me 3 times today without stroking my hair and calling me your ‘cute baby angel’” - tiny
“Aww, did you miss me not giving you all my love and affection?” - giant
“W-what no i just…” - tiny
“You don’t have to be so embarrassed my cute baby angel, i’ll dote on you all you like, all you gotta do is ask” - giant
And the giant picks them up and starts stroking their hair.
And as time goes on they begin to grow more and more close as the giant teases them over other things with this one specific thing that absolutely destroys the tiny’s mind:
“Hey I just needed to grab something so I can- OH MY GOD I’M SORRY I DIDN’T MEAN TO WALK IN ON YOU CHANGING” - tiny
“Aww and why’s that, don’t tell me you couldn’t wait to ask me on a date and wanted the full view of my body” - giant
“N-N-N-N-NO I’M SERIOUS, IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE AND I PROMISE IT WON’T HAPPEN AGAIN” - tiny
The giant grabs the tiny who’s trying their best to not look at them
“Really, for someone who claims to have made a simple mistake, you really seem to enjoy the view of my body, and don’t try to tell me you aren’t, that blush of yours says otherwise” - giant
“O-O-OKAY OKAY YES I THINK YOU’RE INCREDIBLY ATTRACTIVE AND HOT. I’M JUST SCARED YOU’RE MAD AND I DON’T WANT TO BE IN TROUBLE” - tiny
“Aww now why would my cute baby angel be in trouble, now if you were anyone else you’d be in massive trouble, but you aren’t anybody else, and as such you have nothing to worry about. Besides, for all the hard work you’ve been doing I think you deserve a reward, and I think I have a great reward for you. Starting today you get to explore and touch my body you find “attractive and hot” as much as you like.” - giant
The giant flops onto their bed and drops the tiny onto their chest
“May my body be your sanctum, and i hope you enjoy every minute of it” - giant
The tiny then passes out due to overwhelming flustered feeling they have.
After a while then the giant confesses their feelings where the tiny then returns it saying
“D-despite all my fears and pushing you away, you still love me? God how did i get so lucky”
They then start to date and the giant keeps up on their doting and teasing as the begin to love each other more and more.
Ooh, I see what's missing from most g/t stories now! Subplots!
I had this epiphany while rereading one of my favorite g/t stories. Subplots, or multiple perspectives, make the story so much more interesting! Usually I'd lose interest in a story because it's just the same thing happening with the same duo of giant and tiny characters. But, if you add something more going on, suddenly the story is much more fledged out. A mystery, a new set of characters, other things happening in these subplots that will eventually converge into your main story. All if this removes that stale pace from a boring story and make it interesting.
Is your main character stuck within a human apartment? Maybe make another character look for them and have their own little adventure on the side. Is your character finding a giant in the forest and making a friendship with this giant? How about another character that ends up finding out, causing some catastrophic results? Or maybe you could flesh out a world by bringing the POV of side characters that are related to your main characters.
Subplots! That'll make a g/t story much more exciting!
“Hey, what’s that in your pocket? I swear I saw something move in there,”//“uhhh,”
With patton and/or janus
Ok! Prompt fill of this post
Curled tail
One-shot
Ao3
When Janus, an age old naga (who was not at all lonely, how dare you insinuate that) finds a human, around twenty years old, in his woods after a particularly long nap, he gets in an unexpected situation
Patton had known he was a witch. His roommate knew so too. But, he wasn’t really very good at being a witch. Every complicated spell was by accident, and he had no clue how to reverse this one
Janus liked his life. He lived in the woods, a feared monster. He didn’t mind the loneliness. At all.
He often led humans out of his territory through scaring them. Humans, or, at least the majority of them, understood that he was a threat before they saw anything but his tail. Most didn’t even know that he was a naga, but they knew to avoid the snake tracks.
He hadn’t seen very many humans in recent years. He lounged over several branches in the trees, starting to nap in the warm sunlight. His coils were released to hang like vines and he started to nap.
Being immortal meant that sometimes his naps could last years, very occasionally decades. But he didn’t expect this to be a similar situation. Those trees grew around him as he slept. Once he woke up, and the branches were bigger, he’d place it at a twenty year nap
He was still bigger than most trees, though.
He started slithering through the woods. He didn’t expect to find a human.
He found the tiny creatures quite… distasteful. But… this one was just curled up in the ground. Sleeping?
He raised an annoyed eyebrow. Had a measly twenty-year nap made the humans think they could lounge around in his woods? He’d have to up his scare game to make up for the few years he was sleeping. His resting area was quite far into the woods, and so there were no footsteps there.
Though, if there were, perhaps humans would realise how stupid they were in invading his territory. He flicked his tongue out, scenting the air. The human was one of the younger ones
The human started to wake up a few minutes later, once Janus had circled it with his tail.
It looked around, staring at his tail. Janus kept circling.
“What- what are you doing?” It asked. Janus could smell fear
He chuckled
“What are you doing, little thing? In my woods? I don’t take kindly to intrusion,” he leant closer, exposing his sharp teeth to the creature
It flinched, seemingly starting to panic. That was the goal. A panicked human would run away and he’d be left alone
Janus realised it was leaking magical energy too late.
It spread until he was covered in it. The worrying part was that the human (?) didn’t seem to know that it was sending out magical energy.
He was shrunk down to the size of a common garden snake, much to his chagrin. The human opened its eyes that it had squeezed shut while he was intimidating it
“O-oh, you- you’re tiny now,” it seemed that it was confused, but it seemed to understand that it was at fault
“Turn me back, now, human” he demanded, hissing viciously.
He knew he didn’t have venom, but usually he didn’t need it. He was usually big enough for that not to matter. Humans usually assumed he had venom anyway
The human stared for a few moments
“I’m sorry, I don’t… I don’t know how,” it admitted sheepishly, as though this wasn’t a big deal. Janus hissed, coiling in on himself.
It looked like it wanted to say something else.
“If you come to my house, I will try help you out, but please don’t, like, bite me or anything?” It said, rubbing the back of its neck.
Janus flicked his tongue out. He could still smell fear.
He thought on his options. These were his woods, his home. But he was smaller now. A lot smaller. If this human could turn him back, he’d want it to.
He reluctantly nodded
It started reaching towards him, and his coils tightened, like he was getting ready to pounce. It was an intimation technique. Definitely not because he was scared. Who would be scared of a measly human?
It faltered a second
“Can I pick you up, so you can go with me?”
He uncurled slightly
“If you believe it necessary,” he grumbled
Luckily, it seemed to know how to hold him comfortably.
“You’ll have to go in my pocket, so no one sees you, is that okay?” It asked, hands trembling slightly.
Janus absolutely didn’t sulk when he was agreeing. He was perfectly composed and graceful.
The pocket was quite spacious, but he was still forced to curl up a little. The human walked at a pace that jostled him slightly.
He hissed to himself, but quietly. He didn’t want anyone to see him. He was vulnerable and not in his own territory
It seemed the human had shared living quarters, he realised as it got caught up in conversation with another person
He was glad the pocket concealed him.
He shifted his tail ever so slightly. Talking stopped.
“Hey, what’s that in your pocket? I swear I saw something move in there,” he heard the unfamiliar human say
He got prepared to attack if necessary
The human who had kidnapped him had gone still
“Uhh..” it trailed off, as though it didn’t know what to say
Had it somehow not expected this? It must’ve known it shared a living space, and that keeping a living thing in a pocket would cause attention.
Janus shifted more, trying to get comfortable. He shouldn’t have gone with this human.
He should’ve stayed in his woods and make the human come to him to help. Of course, that would mean that there was a human in his woods. He sulked in the pocket. The humans were talking outside
“Patton, I swear if you’re trying to sneak another cat in here, you’re gonna have to deal with the consequences on your own,”
The voice was vaguely teasing, but Janus focused more on the fact he had learned the first human’s name.
“Well, I’ve not got a cat..” ‘Patton’ trailed off again
The conversation progressed, until the second human finally found out about him
He crossed his arms and definitely didn’t sulk when he was taken out of the pocket.
The new human liked the colour red a lot, based on the cloth it was wearing. He soon released that the new human also liked being insufferable
It immediately started teasing him for being short, a usually very inaccurate description. He seriously considered biting
Of course, with no clue if Patton would continue attempting to help him if he bit their friend, he refrained, settling for hissing viciously
He was taken into Patton’s ‘bedroom’, something he’d actually never heard of before
It was a private room to sleep in, he realised. He didn’t know why, but he was glad for the relative privacy from the other occupant of the living space
Patton started immediately trying to figure out how to turn him back to normal.
Janus reluctantly, after several days of his imprisonment, had found it rather comfortable.
He was always in comfort in his woods, but that was because of the magic of his nature; his woods were his home for… well, forever. It was impossible for him to feel genuine discomfort there.
Here… here, it was just comfort. Patton had heat lamps to make him more comfortable, and blankets for him to nap on. He… he supposed it was okay, at least. He curled up on the blanket he was provided and basked under the light of the heat lamp
Patton was out of the house at the moment, some human thing going on. He was close to napping. Patton woke him up every so often, but Janus wasn’t that tired recently.
His long nap was working wonders for him in terms of getting shorter sleep.
Patton’s roommate, whom Janus had never bothered to learn the name of, was the only human home at the moment.
They’d been told they weren’t allowed to bother him, though.
He completely wanted to go home, but it wasn’t so bad here…
Tiny Hiding Spots (Ideas)
Where would a tiny hide in your home?
(Admittedly, these are the obvious ones XD)
----------
Kitchen
in the cupboard (likely if they were trynna grab a shnack)
in the pantry!!! (so many good hiding spots in there)
behind cups/dishes (high chance of shenanigans if the dishware is made of glass so you can see the tiny through it XD)
inside a teacup~ (what a cutie)
amongst the pots and pans
amongst the silverware XD
Living Room
under the couches/coffee table
under the couch cushions/pillows
by the fireplace keeping toasty~
Bathroom (wuh-oh)
in the toothbrush cup XD
behind the soap dispenser (could they be spotted in the mirrors reflection?!?!)
in the toilet (NNNOPE)
tucked in the roll of the toilet paper mayhaps?
hiding in the hand towel :3
Office Room
beneath the desk (ofc ;3)
in the nook of the printer opening (ahh what'll they do if you start printing something XDD)
behind the computer monitor
Bedroom
under the covers XD (risky business that'd be)
under the bed itself (beware of dust bunnies!)
under the nightstand (beware of dust bunnies x 2!!)
hanging off a lamp cord (you came in while they were trying to climb down it)
on the desk (in the pencil cup maybe?)
disguised amongst toys/dolls?
in the jewelry box (maybe they were trying a ring on like a crownnnn mghhhh yessss)
on one of the bookshelves (behind a picture frame? a book?)
clinging to the backside of the window's curtains/drapes
-------
hehehhe just a few ideas; there are definitely plenty more hiding places inside the home that I have yet to list XD
