it’s not that i was scared of Regina, i just so happened to not glance at her in the hallways and turn the other direction almost immediately when i saw her. i didn’t text her the day she gave me her number, how do you casually text someone like that? you can’t just say hey or hi you have to think of something clever. so i just avoided the whole problem all together and didn’t text her. easy peasy. that’s what i thought until i had reached 4th period, the one class i knew there was no way of getting around without seeing her.

“you better actually text me back.” she slid me my phone back and walked off with a sway in her hips that i couldn’t stop myself from staring. she really was something else. once i got into my car i pulled out my phone to look at what she said.

the next two days i didn’t sit with Regina at lunch, she talked to me in 4th hour but only asking about questions of what was happening in class. i noticed she did start parking her jeep where i could see it from my car. and we somehow managed to get to our cars at the same time and she would wave at me with a that smirk and wink.

tonight was the night of Regina’s party. i tried to talk damian and janis who i was now getting closer with to come with me but they wouldn’t budge with their hate for her. they did tell me they would come pick me up with damian’s grandmas jazzy? i told myself i would scope the place out see how i was feeling and then leave after that. i wasn’t going to stay long i had too much anxiety for that.

i pulled the address up onto my phone and followed it till i pulled up to a very big house with cars lined down the street and loud music. there was already teenagers throwing up outside or walking all crazy from having a little bit too much to drink, and that was enough to convince me to turn around completely. but the little blonde i couldn’t stop running into too had already seen me.

“oh my god y/n you actually came?” Regina pulled me close into her and i could smell the same perfume and shampoo but with a hint of alcohol. she dragged me all the way into her kitchen to where she had an older woman serving the drinks.

“y/n this is my mom!” she shouted over the loud music.

“your mom lets you throw parties?” i had to stand close and shout to her to make sure she would hear me.

my first mistake was letting myself actually come to this party. my second mistake was excepting multiple drinks from her and her friend Karen. because i ended up in Regina’s room with her Gretchen and Karen sitting in a small circle.

“oh my gosh guys we should play spin the bottle!!” Karen said who had obviously had one too many drinks.

“Karen it’s just us four that’s not going to be any fun.” Regina said from my right side. this sent Karen into thinking about another fun game we could play.

“what about never have i ever!!!” she shouted with a fit of giggles.

Regina thought this over for a minute before turning to me.

“what do you say y/n?” wanting my approval even though she approved everything.

“i think it’s time for you to go to bed loser.” she led to me a spare room where she gave me some spare clothes to sleep in. i grabbed them thankful and started stripping off my shirt in front of her ready to get out of my clothes and go to bed. “thank you Regina i had fun.” i could hear all of my words slowly slurring and getting more and more tired. she finally turned back around to face me after she gave me enough time to get dressed.

thinking about nanami and touga both telling utena not to trust anthy at the end of the series. whilst nanami and anthy being friends is something that makes me bawl like a little baby and overjoys me immensely, ive never bought a reading of nanami post-32 that is anthy positive. like idk how you could get that impression when all she does is talk about how anthy is a terrible and dangerous person. she’s scared of her. and you know she shouldn’t be, but it’s understandable why a 13 year old living in ohtori academy might be scared of someone she already didn’t like after finding out something deeply traumatic regarding them and not having the tools to make sense of it in a compassionate way. and it makes me want to eat drywall

what’s really interesting about all this to me tho is how both kiryuus tell utena not to trust ‘the chairman/end of the world or himemiya anthy/the rose bride’. anthy and akio are a package deal of toxicity and harm to both of them and if that isn’t just the most fascinating thing ever. also the difference between nanami’s ‘chairman/himemiya’ and touga’s ‘end of the world/rose bride’ (nanami giving her warning during the badminton scene, touga giving his at the end of his duel. so much going on here wrt roles and settings and rituals and reality). but getting back to my real point isn’t it so cool (agonising) how nanami and touga are incapable of extending compassion or understanding to anthy despite the fact that they’re the two people who know the most about her other than utena and akio. and like. they don’t know a Lot, but theyve both had a smidge of insight into an abusive relationship that mirrors aspects of their own lives in myriad ways

idk something about the rose bride as a symbol who bears all of humanity’s hatred. and in the end all girls are like the rose bride yes, but key word here is like. an approximation; all trapped, all agonised, yes, but not all literally fucking crucified for eternity by a million swords that shine with human hatred. not abstracted in such a particular and insidious way. i always find anthy/kiryuu parallels compelling wrt issues of race and class and mannnnnn. nanami takes a step away from the duelling game. she’s not out, but she’s not actively partaking, not actively being exploited. touga, whilst a little more overtly involved in stuco business and still meeting with akio, does also take a step away. like, they’re both able to do that. it’s a bit of an artifice, sure, they’re still here, but oh my god oh my god oh my god. theyre not anthy. am i making sense can anyone hear me holy shit

i think what im trying to say is that for everything that both nanami and touga learn about ohtori academy and the people living in it, for everything that forces them to self-reflect and question the ground that they stand upon, they fail to break the chain with it. like, they too contribute to anthy’s abstraction. she’s an idea that they secretly embody/emulate (not sure which word works better for what im trying to say just yet), and not a person who shares experiences with them but is still wholly separate from them. this kind of compassion is like. it’s too hard, when you’re in the situations that all three of them are in. anthy too perceives both of them as nonhuman, but there is a crucial power dynamic at play here. how can you stomach such a kindness to someone you can only see as a poor imitation of the worst parts of yourself, whom you loathe??

king of new york is a catchy af song but i like to think it emphasizes something about race

i always found it as something that represented their wants and are somewhat expressions of them internally--

Race: A pair o' new shoes with matchin' laces <- Race wants something practical? I mean, in some productions, his socks don't even match!!!!!

Romeo: A permanent box at the sheepshead races <- Surprisingly, Race was supposed to have this line but was changed in the Broadway production. It's one of the main things I found interesting in the lyrics.

Anyhow, Ive read from another post that the boys are sharing these things according to what the other person likes, and that, is very cute and i love it, but I unfortunately cannot see it that way myself when it's with Race. Romeo may have said that line for Race, but, the lines Race sings in Carrying the Banner sort of correlates with his lines in KofNY. The said Race's lines in CtB are as follows:

I am a true believer that the lines characters are chosen to sing are important to who they are, and I will find it endlessly curious as to why these are the specific things Race would list out, when most of the newsies at this part, something they want/that's currently happening/general observations or whatever. It's just so,,, curious to me how he speaks of THOSE things?? they're definitely not something they want, and it's poetic as FUCK??? like WHO hurt you mr higgins

It makes me think of Race as someone who is somewhat practical. I mean, outside of being sort of rowdy, excitable and the like, he's, without a doubt, smart af and like his historical counterpart, quite aware.

Am-scray is one of my favourite parts here. Maybe because it was sung by Race but It’s Pig Latin.

I have NO Idea how common it is to learn that in the 19th century– but considering in Newsies (not as historically accurate) the boys don’t get a proper education other than Davey (but in a more historical perspective, they did. somewhat.), It’s EXTREMELY important to me how he knows such words like ‘Hoi-polloi’ (GREEK!!!), Am-scray and Gratis (LOOK i dont know how common words like that are, because im not a native english speaker and DAMN i don't know the usual 19th century lingo, but to me, it was a big big word)

Even more, his wit is shown well in the line ‘and drowned us in ink’. I’ve been obsessed with that since I heard it, and I’ll never get over how it is a BEAT that you can skip to in writing. It’s such a smooth and witty way to say that Katherine’s writing had helped them, and that ‘drowning in them in ink’ led them to get the fame they got (front page of the papers).

It’s also bitterly sweet to note that seeing their faces on the front page was more than enough to have them all tap-dancing, and although they may be forgotten the next day, it was all the worth.

this is all over the place, and moreso a ramble, but I REALLY wish we got more of Race because these specific things keep repeating in my mind ALL the time. I would ALSO like to state that Race was a HUGE driving force in this. I could write a WHOLE essay about him but kiss his ass and slap it because after getting hit around by oppressors and police, he knew they needed at least a moment of relief !!!!!!

A relationship with the literal ruler of the entire world is, unsurprisingly, unbalanced. Your relationship exists entirely at her whims; whether you were the one who started things, falling for her and trying to get close, or if you simply caught her eye and she couldn’t get you out of her head.

The Imperator lives an isolated existence. Even among the highest ranking members of the Duodecim, opportunities to do anything more than see her from a distance are rare. To have a chance with Izanami, she must choose you. Likely as entertainment, first, finding herself amused by you, so much that she begins seeking you out when the mood strikes her.

Then, she chooses to keep you. She presents ‘asking you out’ as an order to become her servant- as if you aren’t already technically her servant just by living in the world she controls. She asks that you stay by her side until the moment of your death. Which is… kind of like a marriage proposal? I guess? How sweet.

II.

Being her ‘servant’ really is just fancy Imperator-speak for dating. You might be a little worried about what will become of you when you agree to the deal, but not much changes. You don’t have to do her laundry, you don’t have to clean anything, you don’t move in with her and live in a cage or whatever.

What she does demand is that you prioritize her, that you be available for her at all times. You are her possession now, and she will have you when she wishes to.

Get well acquainted with that strange… person… creature (?) she calls Phantom, because you’ll be seeing it a lot. It acts as your intermediary, appearing when your lover wishes to summon you.

III.

You know the life of the Imperator Librarius is an isolated one. She stands as a god, separate and above all others. In this world, that is a fact as natural as the air you breath. But being close to her like this, seeing more sides of her, grants you new perspective on what that really means for the one on the throne.

Izanami is a terribly lonely woman. Under all the arrogance and power, your lover is shockingly… childlike. It’s evident that she has no friends, likely never has had any- the words she uses for you (servant, favorite, pet) expose the fact that she wouldn’t even know what to call an equal. You imagine that she never had much of a childhood. If only you knew.

Phantom is sent for you daily, generally. Izanami’s words are distant and lofty as always, but the more familiar these moments become to you, the more you start to see through her. She's thrilled to have a companion.

IV.

She loves toys. Jigsaw puzzles seem to be what she likes best. She’ll kindly allow you to select the edge pieces and build the frame- the simpler task, she promises, though for a puzzle with thousands of pieces you’re not sure any part of it could count as easy.

She's both willing and eager to try to play anything you bring her. She describes you like a jester, bringing her all these novelties in an attempt to keep her entertained. She presents it as if it just might be some kind of test. As if, if she isn't amused, you'll be punished somehow. You never are, though- it seems her bark may be worse than her bite.

She’s not too keen on video games, you'll learn, and she'll only try a few before she starts to refuse them. Puzzle toys, on the other hand, are consistently a hit. Slip a Rubiks Cube into your pocket and grandly present it as an ‘offering’ to her or a ‘symbol of your devotion,’ and she’ll adore it. You can't help but wonder if she's ever gotten a real gift before.

V.

Another hobby of hers, one perhaps more in-line with her general image, is stargazing. Er, moongazing? She does know a plethora of constellations and can readily point them out if asked (your zodiac is one she likes to show you) but what she seems to like most about the night sky is the moon itself.

She doesn’t venture outside often, but there are nights when you are summoned to join her for a walk around a gated garden. The moon is always full, or just about, when she does this. She’ll walk with you for a time, enjoying chatter and teasing, until the winds hit the trees just right and she falls silent. She'll watch them dance, then turn her attention up to the sky, where she’ll watch the moon until the clouds hide it from her.

It’s one of those things that she doesn’t seem to notice she does. When you ask her what she likes, she’s unable to think of many things, and the night sky is never something she lists. But when you catch her staring up at it like this, if you ask, she’ll tell you she finds it nostalgic.

She's beautiful under the moonlight. Take your time admiring her before you speak. The moment she realizes you've caught her, the night's spell is broken, and she'll return to the walk, ending your opportunity to observe her unguarded.

VI.

Izanami says the strangest things sometimes. The way she speaks, you’d think she’s forgotten that she is as human as her subjects. She muses on the nature of humanity as if watching it all trapped in a little fishtank. She delights in the way it may amuse her, but seems to genuinely believe that we’re all ultimately just swimming around in circles until our hearts finally stop beating.

If you like to debate, and if you can do it respectfully, you can have a lot of fun here. You can spend hours arguing the purpose of human life, trying to get her to see something of inherent worth through the impermanence of it. The value of love, of connection, of fun, of creating something to pass on or simply finding something to share with others.

No matter what you highlight, her nihilism never wavers. She always has some reply to twist your words back around to tragedy.

Sometimes it feels surreal, as if you're up against a real angel or even a god, making a case for humanity at the cusp of the end times. And the way she dismisses your 'evidence'... with that innocent laugh and that smile full of pity.

She sometimes doesn't feel human at all.

VII.

Of course, she isn't. Hades Izanami has never been, could never be, human. Despite this, she does care for you. In her way.

She adores you. If she didn’t, she would not keep you so close. You may never be able to have a normal relationship with her, but her desire to have you near her through all her idle hours proves how badly she wants you- how much she needs you. Loves you. The one she has granted the honor of being her only companion in this world.

You are her amusement. You are her happiness. You are a spark of... something, something that her vessel seems to crave desperately. You make something in her core begin to ache, as if that girl’s heart still dwelled inside her chest.

VIII.

But as was said at the start- to be her lover is not to be her equal. The Imperator Librarius has no equal. Death walks alongside everyone but must herself stand alone.

No matter how wonderful it feels to be with her, she was honest with you when she asked that you be her servant- not her lover. You have a purpose to fulfill in this relationship.

Your purpose is to be loyal and to love her. To bring her laughter when the world makes her sick.

And one day, you will have fulfilled your purpose. One day it will be time to end this world.

Shall she reward your loyalty with a vision of Doomsday? Shall she let you know, in your last moments, the true nature of that which loved you?

Or shall she spare you the death thralls and send you to sleep with sweet ignorance?

1. What is your favourite childhood movie and why?

Strangely I’d never been big on movies or tv as a kid or even now (I want to get more into it now but my adhd still says no) my mum even told me that when I was young she could sit my brothers in front of the tv to be entertained but not me, I’d lose interest hella quickly… probs the first time I got into anything tv related was when I was 10-12 and was invested in the drama of the tv series “dance academy” on abc3 Ive actually met the producer! other than that I didn’t mind a reality show as a kid but then most of that wore off after I studied media in school and we went as live audience to “reality” shows and I realised how set up everything was and couldn’t care less afterward -

If I had to pick any movie that I loved and that still strangely brings me some sort of comfort.. it would have to be the 2010 Jaden Smith Version of Karate Kid ahahaha idk why (well I kinda do there’s lots of reasons but then I’d go on another whole tangent so I won’t) I was like 11 when it came out so I think that can count :) I can weirdly watch it over and over whereas most other movies I watch once and never again.

2. Do you have a favourite book or book series and why?

I talked about this in some previous posts on here but my fav book of all time is “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” by Gail Honeyman !!!!! I also am very passionate about “The uncaged sky: my 804 days in an Iranian Prison” by Kylie Moore-Gilbert (the audiobook version narrated by Kylie herself) and fav wholesome series has gotta be the Heartstopper graphic novels!!!! AHAHA again I could go on and on and on about why I love them all individually as they are all VERY DIFFERENT from each other, but I’ll literally be writing like 3 giant essays so I’ll stop myself now!! I will say, while it’s important we consume and love media that we don’t relate to to broaden our perspectives of life, it’s obviously easy to consume and love media that we see a small part of ourselves in and think this has a lot to do with why I love these so much!

4. Your favourite cereal?

I honestly don’t eat cereal and never really have :,) cereals were kinda demonised in my house as a child (almond mum tings?) but then eventually they weren’t anymore but I never rlly enjoyed their taste - this is such a sad answer but probably Kelloggs sultans bran LMAO. I haven’t had it for years but I rlly don’t mind it … I think it’s probably very different to American cereals cause it’s not sweet … one time I went to an American food store here in Aus and everything I tried taste like pure sugar and hurt my stomach so bad LOL never again I’m hoping and praying that Americans have other food options not featured in this store 😭 cos I understand some of it as a one off dessert but like everyday breakfast omg noooo I hope ur stomachs are ok

5. Your favourite gemstone?

I’m ngl I don’t have a super passionate answer about this one off the top of my head (sorry I’m such a boring person!!) I think they’re all so pretty!!! I gave them a google to try decide which I like most but it’s impossible .. I think I love any of the blue ones!! I’ll tell you one thing I rlly don’t love the yellow topaz cos I’m born in Nov and I see it on everything and I swear it’s the worst one imo like liteeally any other one I love! But I can still appreciate it ig :,)

6. Any activity you liked as a child and do you still like it now?

My biggest pain as a child was athletics!!!! I used to be competitive in 100m, 200m, long jump and triple jump :) sadly I no longer do athletics or compete but my passion for running/competitiveness lived on and by 15 I ran my first half marathon.. but from 17 onwards I got quite sick and was unable to run (minus a few little months of getting back into it over the yrs only to have to stop again) and now I’m 24 and finally getting back into it again.. kinda.. cos my health is still kinda shit but I’ll go for a lot shorter runs a couple times a week and hoping and praying my health gets better so I can proper get back into it.. not to compete anymore just for myself cos it’s one of the only things in this life that brings me joy :) I’ve also always loved taking photos although I’m not professional or anything it’s just been a fun little hobby I guess.. I have a few diff cameras but in currently trying (failing) to save for this new different one.. just waiting for my uni scholarship money this tri bc I’m too unwell to use it to go on a holiday atm I’m gonna use it to buy this camera I’ve been wanting oop :,) I’m a much bigger a fan of film photography over digital but the camera I’m planning on buying is kinda a combo of both eg. It produces images of a similar vibe to film photography but is actually digital so u don’t have to worry about wasting film :) it’s also a point and shoot, super small and can be taken anywhere which is much better than my current digital camera which is bulky and has a million settings idk how to use lol.

7. Have you ever read Lucy Maud Montgomery books?

I was about to say no I’ve never heard of her but then I googled it and saw Anne of Green Gables which I read when I was like literally 8… and as I’ve said in a previous post I never remember what I’ve read even if I read it two minutes ago bc adhd tings but I always remember how it made me feel - and I remember really enjoying it! Maybe I should give it a reread cause I barely remember what it was about :,) as for the rest of her books I don’t think I’ve read any! I love so much that you have a fandom page omgggg I wish I was that passionate about something !!!! PLS PLS give me recommendations if someone were only to read 1 of her books .. okay maybe 2 for now!!!!! I might actually give them a read :)))

Sorry just saw a post saying you do actually DO get taught media literacy and critical thinking in English classes and I was homeschooled until high school, but Ive also been to three different high schools across two states of america- which isn’t a lot but is more than most people get (assuming that most people go to one high school for four years instead of switching schools every year) and let me tell you. The English teachers almost always had the same problem. And I generally liked them all! English wasn’t a class I super hated!!!

Even my favorite English teachers didn’t really end up fostering a love of reading into the material or actually critically thinking about stuff.

What they all liked to do was talk about and lead you into THEIR interpretation to the point of basically dismissing any other readings. At best you’d get a “that’s a good point too, but I was thinking of something else” and at worst they’d basically just dismiss it with a clear lack of interest. As if you didn’t “get the point” for focusing on something else.

I remember this because there were a lot of times when I was bursting to talk about the parallels id drawn of the assignment to my personal experiences but I was too embarrassed or afraid or annoyed to because the few times i or anyone else tried to speak up the teachers were basically uninterested unless you hit on the specific reading they were obsessed with. At which point they’d talk at length about symbolism and stuff that, while interesting to me, was also hella annoying!!

My English classes made me afraid to get into academia because they all made it seem like there were one or two proper ways to read a story and if you didn’t immediately come to one of those conclusions then you’d be treated like you were stupid or hadn’t actually read the text.

This post also claimed that English classes teach you how to spot misinformation ???? The only thing even close to that would be history classes where we would sometimes discuss propaganda. Most of English class is reading assigned literature and then painfully sitting through the teacher trying to lead us into their interpretation. And sometimes you get to write things.

At MOST you’re gonna get the teacher telling you that something an author says is incorrect or a lie or that they’re biased but you don’t usually practice how to spot misinformation when you’re not prepped to find it.

I gained more critical thinking skills from being annoyed by the teachers readings and tearing them apart in my head than I did from any actual assignments. But that’s because I already cared about stories! So i wouldn’t have even had that if I didn’t already have some kind of interest in the classes subject matter!

Does all this stuff you’re supposedly taught in English class happen before high school?? What schools are you guys going to because from my experienced, American high school English classes (like a lot of classes) don’t really teach you shit unless you’re already interested in the subject.

I also think it’s pretty useless and mean spirited to imply people who didn’t learn that stuff were just idiots who didn’t pay attention. It’d be way more helpful to encourage people to want to learn stuff after school ends!! Not just because learning is fun but also because I feel like a lot of people see learning as something you can only do in schools & such and don’t see all the opportunities for self improvement past that!

Sorry I have no idea why a single one paragraph post bothered me so much, I think it’s cuz it’s past 10 pm 😭😭😭 so slightly annoying things lead to entire damn rants. I don’t even know if they were talking about American education I just was suddenly flooded with a ton of memories and barfed them out here.

But in all seriousness, because for Sampo everything is a performance. Despite everything he says, he does everything for fun. And I’m fairly certain there’s more to Sampo than there appears. I have my own personal theories on this, though I’m fairly sure with him breaking the 4th wall, he’s relate to AHA if not more.

He’s a schemer, trickster, and a showman. He’s going to do everything he can to have fun. Money along the way is just a side benefit. Assume with Sampo, everything is an act or for a goal. He’ll lie and cheat and steal and despite saying how loyal he is, from his ultimate (both versions since the speed changes what he says), he’s willing to betray the customer if the price is right. On top of that, in his fourth wall breaking speech, he’s talking about visiting the tavern with everyone else and about his performance (don’t break his heart). And I also don’t think it’s very likely he’s truly from Jarilo-VI.

How does all of this play into Sampo burps? It’s all about performance and having fun. This goes along with his eating too, but for his burps that means he’s going to perform both for himself and others and try to be the center of attention. If he notices you enjoy burps (and he definitely will), he will use that to his advantage at every opportunity he can. I also think because of his time in the “tavern” he loves to drink a lot. 

So because of all of that, Sampo would have huge control over his burps. I think mostly he would go for big, deep, bassy, wet belches for the ultimate effect whenever possible. And he would try to be obnoxious often to throw people off guard with his burps. It’s a good way to disarm people or give a distraction. That doesn’t mean he can’t do softer ones or other types or he doesn’t burp because of eating too much. He definitely does. But he ALSO is one to be able to burp on command and burp the alphabet or words or probably do different notes with belches when he wants. 

He’ll feign ignorance or that he’s innocent or that he didn’t mean to be so loud and forgive his rudeness but it’s just him being as much of a trickster as ever. If he finds out you hate burps, he’ll do it just as much just to get a rise out of someone too. It’s hard to say specifically what kind of foods he’d be burpy on on Jarilo IV but I don’t think it matters. 

One more thought, is that because he’s always having to move quickly or have to run and get the slip from others (like the Silvermane Guards), I think he’s learned to eat really fast and just cram it down (even swallowing some food whole when he needs to) and that makes him really gassy, though he tries to keep it in until he’s finally safe, though that probably just makes his build up and then release of burps even more intense. 

Just expect Sampo to have the most theatrical burps you can imagine.

disclaimer: in this situation i understand bang chan completely and i don’t really understand what’s the whole issue behind it. however, i’m not taking any sides, so i’m neutral.

why bang chan expressed his opinion: honestly, i felt he spit it out and it wasn’t intentional to harm anyone, but he was honest with you, stays (and the rest of the community). it’s his opinion.

what were the intentions for this: it’s all because of the upbringing. i mean възпитание he was aware that the generations change more or less but honestly he’s just curious why they don’t have the manners he has. i think chan was genuine.

who he meant with these words: maybe someone who is hardworking to the extent they’re workaholic? it feels that it’s general and not towards someone specific.

what he feels towards all of this: this might be suprising to all of you, but i’m not suprised by this. honestly, he feels positive that he brang awareness about this lack of manners in some way. chan was aware of that his words will probably be misinterpreted in the end because of the lack of everyone’s mindset, so i think he just said “at least i tried”.

why he apologised: as i said earlier, he just spit it out. it’s not forced “sorry”, it’s genuine, he didn’t mean to do any harm. he said his opinion, his truth and chan just wants the newer generations to at least respect each other and say/wave for “hello”.

what was jype founder’s reaction: honestly, he expected to act in this way. you know, because of the relevance his group has, skz’s popularity, etc etc, he just thinks bang chan acted as he should no matter if chan wanted to say this or not

bang chan’s feelings towards ive (as a group): honestly.. uh.. i don’t think he thinks positive things for all of the girls. i think he matches with some of them just fine but something seems fishy, because i think bang chan has false impressions at least to one of the ive girls that can be shown as (from ive) stubborn, controlling, materialistic and etc.. their collegial work in the future will probably go okay if they happen to have any but bang chan doesn’t think fondly for all of ive in my cards’ opinion and he might shut himself for it even in front of them.

Adult children of neglect: this is how to wash your hair and take care of it.

Ive gotten this one as a request. Back at it again. Personally I’ll say that my hair is very fine and very straight, I do know people with curly hair may have a more complex way of taking care of their hair. But regardless the basic idea stands.

I myself don’t have that many encounters regarding my childhood and hair. I do remember being 12 and having a small section of my hair become matted. I was able to solve it out, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place! I was a kid.

Those are my general tips I could think of from the top of my head.

It’s important that you brush your hair once a day. You can deffo do it more than once. But doing so at least once is important as your hair can become matted if you don’t.

If your hair ever does get matted, know that there are special salons trained in de-matting hair. You don’t have to go at it with scissors.

As per washing your hair, different people have different ways to go about it. The rule of thumb is to wash it if it becomes greasy, or if it smells. If you don’t have a feel for it, or no one ever taught you, Try washing your hair every other day. See if that feels good- if not, try to understand what is a ratio that works better.

If you had to go alone and hadn’t had an adult teach you this, it’s worth noting that when you go to the barber, or the hair salon, it’s considered good practice to come in with your hair washed and detangled before your meeting. In some places it’s considered common courtesy to tip. Depends on where you live.

You can always do a lot of learning online when it comes to styling your hair, don’t be shy to search for tips. This also extends to special hair products, or tips and tricks when it comes to certain hair types. Do not be embarrassed. You deserve to learn and nurture yourself with love!

One thing I think children of neglect aren’t aware of are the vast options that exist of anything really. When you’re busy surviving, and no adult is there to show you how to take care of yourself. You often reduce your world to a world of survivalism. In reality, your hair is a sign of beauty (in many cultures), it’s a way of self expression, but most importantly it’s a part of you that deserves to be nourished and loved. It takes time to readjust to a world of living when all you’re used to is surviving.

May you find the ways in which your hair becomes a familiar part of you! And good luck in recovery.

My favorite poem is Antigonish by Hughes Mearns! It’s featured in the Magnus Archives and it is lodged in my brain forever. I’ll probably make it its own dedicated post but it talks about a man who isn’t there, with the writer wishing that the man who isn’t there would go away. It’s a lovely little poem and especially as someone whose psychosis manifests primarily as delusions, I simply Vibe with a poem about something you know isn’t there but terrorizes you anyways.

And yeah! I have taste -> color synesthesia!! For the first 10 or so years of my life I thought you could teach colors to (color)blind people using foods. It’s kind of a weird thing to try and talk about because really the main way I know that my experience of the world is different from most people’s is that language just not built for the way I experience taste. I’ve thought of trying to do some sort of art based on my synesthesia but ive never been able to figure out exactly how since it’s really difficult for me to separate taste and the colors. I also experience ‘shrimp colors’ that don’t exist in a way humans can visually experience. Like orange and green at the same time, but not grey or speckled; the color simply does not exist.

There’s also almost no correlation between visualcolors and tastecolors. Por ejemplo, carrots (orange food) taste like a desaturated forest green. The only real trends are that the more artificial a food is, the more likely it is to match color wise; and that water will lighten and desaturate things.

Also it’s difficult for me to sort of quantify since I have no other frame of reference, but it does have a lot of effects on my life. Since color tends to overwhelm any ‘normal taste’, that’s what most of my favorite (and least favorite) foods are based on. I dislike carrots because it’s unpredictable whether they’re green or brown and I don’t like that neither of those are orange. My two favorite foods are grape koolaid (it’s so purple and I like purple; I also never water it down because then it’s Purple and I can also taste sour) and salt & vinegar chips (the vinegar covers any colors).

Water is always white or a very very light grey. This does affect what water I will drink because I avoid drinking water that’s sort of tinted warm colors. Doesn’t vibe right.

And the way I describe foods is almost always color based, since that’s the main way I experience it. This has deeply confused and mildly frustrated anyone trying to learn anything applicable to their own experience of food. I have no idea what other people taste, especially since colors tend to overshadow anything else. I’m pretty sure I experience spiciness and saltiness normally though.

And as mentioned earlier, it seriously impacts my sensory issues. Tastes are doubled (I guess?) and any after taste lingers for ages. If the water im drinking is significantly tinted it builds up in my mouth and is Bad (I had to pause writing this to refill my water bottle with my house filtered water instead of the water fountain from my school since that water is reddish and my water is only very faintly teal). Also since all taste is doubled-ish I am basically always aware of the fact that my mouth has a taste and a color. Which kinda sucks.

Also I think this is an adhd thing but I have a hard time describing colors unless I’m actively tasting something because I have a word based brain and the colors are something that completely upends the English language’s way of describing the senses. That’s sort of why I always describe it as being a one way link and say “taste to color synesthesia” rather than “taste color synesthesia”, because I don’t taste anything when I see colors, I just experience colors when I taste something. I think if it went both ways I would be a very different person and would likely have meltdowns much more often but that’s pure speculation.

I thiiiink that’s everything I can think of right now, but yeah! Synesthesia! I think I heard the word about four-ish years ago now and literally nothing has clicked for me faster than that did. It took me less time to start identifying with synesthesia than it did for me to identify with any lgbtq+ label. Every time I think about the fact that ‘tasting colors’ is something that people say to mean they’re loopy or high or something and not that they can literally taste colors I have to do a double take. It’s such a seemingly tiny little thing but it’s so fundamental to my experience of the world that I cannot even imagine anything different. What does koolaid taste like if not Color? I don’t know, because all I can taste is Color.

An attempt at an actually good explanation of the head types

Let the takeaway be this: Curiosity, imagination & inquisitiveness is a shared characteristic between all of them.

With some 6 it gets shut down cause they get too bogged down in anxiety or superego correctness, kinda like those really numbed-out 3s sometimes, but the natural disposition is curious & imaginative as well. I mean, how would you concoct all those worst case scenarious without at least latent imagination?

Same for a tendency to want to analyze, understand and "track" what's happening, automatically looking for patterns. Also sometimes characterized as the funny triad, though, ive met some plenty funny 9s and 8s.

Another thing to note is that its not just "logic" that lives here but speculative imagination, future planning & conceptual thinking. What is logic but imagination that is disciplined by rules?

This is especially worth keeping in mind when you consider mbti combinations - ovsly Ts will be more overtly intellectual, Fs might show the imagination side more or be drawn to humanities-related concepts such as art, sociology, psychology... - though of course, both can have both. A xSFx who is a 6 will be more 'concepty' than a 9, in that sense that's a well-balanced combo.

All three tend not be noted for their perceptiveness, but immature individuals can also share the possible weakness of thinking their noggin is god's gift to mankind. (though the 6s are less obviously braggarts to avoid being targeted - more like, "people who share my politics are smart" or "its just common sense")

The fact that scary situations can stimulate planning is kind of an interesting hint at how the capacity for imagination evolved. With all 3 you can see a tendency to 'speed up' if something unforeseen happens that distinguishes them from the other triads, though it shows somewhat differently in each of them.

Now I have no clue about this at all as I don't really pick up on that sort of thing, but another commonality you sometimes hear mentioned which sounds kinda fascinating is a tendency for the eyes sometimes not quite match the rest of the expression or a lot of the expressiveness being in the eyes generally. Like someone acting aggro or cheery but you can tell from the eyes they're inwardly freaked out, or that's how I've heard it described.

So, now that we've established the commonalities and that no single one of them is "the" learning interested type, how do you nail which one you are? For this, it pays to keep in mind both the specific thinking style as well as the temperament that typically goes with it.

Soo... what kind of information can't you get enough of?

7 - the latest new stuff that is full of cool, exciting possibilities. Novelty, technological innovation, avantgardistic art & fashion, anything exciting adventurous & cool, working on a new project or skill every couple of months. Often very good at quick thinking, improvising, and talking people into almost anything. - this is most often an extrovert and usually an active, optimistic, confident, fun-loving and dynamic but not always all that reliable or responsible person. ~ sort of like an inventor or explorer who sees the potential in things. As a thinking style, it's the most associative & open ended, considering how all the multiple frameworks available could be used to solve your problem. Quick at concocting new plans on the spot. Like a mind map or web of loosely connected concepts. Focussed on securing good outcomes, can get anxious that they're not gonna get those good things. Tends to assume they're going to win, sometimes to the point of overconfidence or denial. Tends to discard ideas that are no longer useful or entertaining them & look for ever newer & better ones.

6 - keeping up with politics & important happenings, what is going on with the people in your circle, not missing any potential dangers or important developments, tests & questions everything not easily fooled by scams, looks for the truth behind everything & its trustwortiness - most often introvert but still somewhat sociable, but extrovert is possible - character wise, can be sceptical, argumentative, and a big worrier but also likeable, perseverant, funny, brave, and good team players. - a bit like a detective or journalist, looking for truths. As a thinking style, it's systematic and context-sensitive. Information is related to relationships, morals, political contexts, power dynamics etc. and categorizing things - but not in a simplistic way, but with awareness of how categories can intersect or contradict each other. Like building a map or grid. Focussed on preventing bad outcomes, can get anxious about those bad things happening. Tends to expect a struggle, sometimes to the point of overpreparation or combativeness. Tends to be concerned with whether to adopt or resist ideas, which should be adopted & which resisted, which are "correct" or "certain".

5 - indiscriminately retains all manner of unrelated random stuff just because, for its own sake. Will obsess endlessly over and absorb every last detail about anything that personally interests them even if its something totally obscure, completely theoretical, gross/disturbing, esoteric or of no practical use. Usually very strongly introverted. Blunt, cynical, eccentric and rather sensitive in disposition, but since they're so reclusive they can tend to be known only as "that weirdo who only talks about [current obsession]" - like a collector or philosopher. As a thinking style, its about looking for contrasts, underlying principles, and to try to look at things from as much of an unbiased perspective as possible. Like a decision tree or filing cabinet. Doesn't tie themselves to particular outcomes but rather to anticipate what's going to happen & how to navigate it. Can get anxious that they can't deal with what's coming. Tends to have low expectations, sometimes to the point of being defeatist or doomerism. Rather than rely on outside ideas, try to synthesize their own version, phrasing everything in their own words.

Addendum: I find a lot of confusions come from shared traits in triads being more emphasized in some of the typical descriptions - that's how you get 9s and 5s landing on 4, 6s landing on other reactives, and 6 and 7 landing on 5.

Doesn't help that there's been this shift in the later authos to discuss mostly the temperament for 7 and 6, but you gotta dig out palmer, maitri or naranjo to learn what that actually makes them mental types, whereas with 5, the nerd stuff stayed but all the specifity was lost in regards temperament - The defeatism angle alone would sort out all the mistyped 6s and 3s real quick if it was more emphasized.

Maybe this is in part cause 6 and 7 have roughly even F/T ratio whereas 5 somewhat skews toward T, though by far not as much as 8 or 1, or as much as 4 and 2 do the reverse.

how i feel every mtp character was mischaracterized by the old fandom

basically me describing my icks about mtp fics that ive seen from like 10 years ago/kinda sorta my personality hcs. bear with me here, because they are all my headcanons/opinions and i dont want to make it sound like i think my ideas are the only way you can see the characters...(talking into the void)

Alice: she loses her spunkiness! she becomes a perfectly sweet and agreeable person in almost every fic ive read. i dont see her like this. in my mind, alice is a good mix of kind and understanding with hot headed and stubborn. everyone in the band loves her and she’s easy to get along with, but that doesn’t mean she’s perfect. i feel like fics always wrote her as the mom friend, and i dont really like that. i feel like it’s just because shes the only girl (ive read very few fics where caterpillar is written as a girl) alice really doesn’t scream “mom friend” to me. i see her as pretty chaotic and impulsive. she’s kind of immature, but she always has good intentions in mind and most people in her life admire her, so it’s easy to miss. you know? 

Tarrant: ouuugh boy. in my mind, tarrant is a lovable idiot, his ideas are wacky, sometimes he says things that make zero sense to anyone but him (and maybe thackery and mally), and he’s typically bad at reading a room, being cheerful most of the time (even if his friends arent). most fics i read write him as this! which is great, because i think it’s pretty close to how i see him. he’s pretty much always written as comic relief, which is fine by me. 

my problem starts with how the other characters treat tarrant. they act like hes annoying…ive read so many fics where tarrant will say something a little wacky and every character in the scene side-eye one another and go, “okaaaay, tarrant…🙄” or something similar, and it makes me mad!! so many times i see scenes where alice is “apologizing” for him, when all he did was…talk? be around? the bandmembers are his friends…they aren’t treating him like that, alice would NOT feel the need to apologize for him either? in fact, if alice felt like anyone was making fun of tarrant behind his back she’d fucking kill them. im so serious. 

Mally: not that cool. mally is a LOSER. and i say that with the most love imaginable. he’s got zero game, he’s fairly awkward when he’s not playing or on stage, he fails at like everything, he’s literally insane, and he doesnt think any of that is true. in mally’s mind, he is THE coolest and most special-ist person on the planet at all times and in all ways. he’s so lucky he wasnt subjected to fandom nowadays where people talk about killing their favorites with rocks or whatever. he wouldnt stand a chance. 

fics write him too cool, and too “normal”, if im being honest. this is something that happens to both mally and thackery, and idk. he’s insane!! hes a weirdo!!! the name of the band is MAD t party, i feel like they should all be at least a little crazy. idolmouse was giving them EVERYTHING in those shows and they just threw it all away 😔 the disrespect…

Thackery: they make him way too shy and quiet and nervous when he isnt like that at all. thackery, in my mind, is definitely quieter and less showy than his bandmates, but he’s still as energetic as they are. he, unlike some of his other bandmates, is fine to step back and let someone else be the center of attention. he just wants to be along for the ride; he doesn’t mind what songs he needs to learn for the shows or what they need him to do, he just wants to play in a band with his friends. none of that means he’s overly shy or timid or anything, though. i don’t really know where they got that? the most i see is when he’d hide behind his ears sometimes. but other than that he's always getting in people's faces and jumping around and they just forget hes silly as if thats not one of his most endearing traits like cmon now

and…it hurts even more because you can really tell while reading the fics that it’s because of the ship dynamic with mally that they write him this way. its really frustrating to me. i dont see them as opposites, more like slightly different variations of weird. 

Absolem/Adonis/Caterpillar AUGH whatever: ive only ever read one fic where they write caterpillar as ladypillar so maybe i should just put absolem but whatever.. too serious. too stoic. they basically just copy paste his personality from the 2010 movie. why? i dont know. he gets plenty of personality in the shows but old fics really just ignore that... his ass is NOT wise he plays the fucking keyboard in a band at disneyland 😭 he doesnt know shit 😭😭😭

he’s sort of just around to give advice to people. im just saying they could stand to let him be funny once in a while...hes just so serious even though he doesn’t really act that way on stage. i do like the idea of him being more like that when the bands first getting started but eventually coming out of his shell and letting himself have fun with the rest of them. and almost every caterpillar performer made him really aggressive lmao, i think they should’ve leaned into that it would have been funny. like he just punches someone in a fic. idk. i think we should let absolem hit people

Chessur: in the few fics ive read where chess does much of anything, he’s basically got the same problem that absolem’s got where they just sort of copypaste his movie-self, even down to the way he speaks. i REALLY hate that, they usually make absolem and chess talk all elegantly, esp compared to the other characters. its just really weird to me and makes them feel out of place. 

but out of all these characters, chess being the one that writer’s struggled to do much with makes sense. he’s behind that drumset all the time, he doesn’t get much explicit character shown, so i mean, what else were they gona turn to? going back to the 2010 movie is the next step ig. but also, i mean, it’s possible. it’s not like the performers NEVER did anything, because they did. you can still get a personality and come up with a character that isn’t just tim burton’s chessur but a human. 

i see chess as the quietest in the band; he isn’t shy, he doesn’t not want to be around his bandmates or anything, he’s just sort of quiet, unless someone speaks to him or he’s teasing someone lmao. i see him and mally as pretty similar, but neither of them like acknowledging or admitting it. hes meanspirited, but actually very caring and nice, you just gota know him. and hes closest to alice, so ofc SHE knows it. all his sarcastic comments to his friends are just how he says he loves them <3 if you ask, he’d tell you that he only joined the band because he knew they needed a drummer, but it was really cus he wanted to hang out at the tea party (he rarely went before because he and mally genuinely did not get along before the band) i think chess is the type to never talk and then randomly drop the most profound shit anyone has ever heard. idk, does any of that make sense?

so yeah. i know mad t party fandom was all about doing whatever you want with these characters cus there really wasnt much to base anything off of, but i dont think that really applies to their characters?? really just the stories? like they DO have characters and personalities. when people would say things like theyre acting when theyre on stage...that is so weird to me because thats literally just what the show itself is. where is the fun in saying that theyre not actually like how they are on stage? 

this is just a peek into how i see these silly little band guys…ive wanted to share my hcs for a while now, but like. my mind is just spaghetti. i know everything i want to say, but writing it down and putting it out there is just sooo hard. i hope the 5 people who will see this post will understand sort of what im trying to say here. thanks for reading if you read the whole thing thats insane. gold star fo you.
