gang… i've been thinking about this and... will i be shot on sight if i say i don’t like tentoo or that ending.

like out of the endings for rose that we could have realistically gotten, i guess it’s one of the better ones, but it still falls flat in a major way to me. like i know it really is the doctor, no real difference except for the need for rose’s humanity and empathy to make him a better person, but like imagine that.

this man you met, im gonna say 2 years ago but of course it’s hard to tell, who’s saved your life and you’ve saved his, more than you can count, who grabbed your hand and told you to run, who got you out of a monotonous life you thought you’d never escape, who showed you the stars and the future and new species and horrible destruction and your dad who died when you were just a baby, who sacrificed his life for yours right after you did for him, who turned into a being inspired by you, by your love, who you fell in love with and fell in love with you back, and then you’re separated. and you’ll never see each other again. but you never give up. and you get back to him. but of course it can’t be that easy, so you’re separated again. but something happens and there’s a hand and regeneration energy and a brilliant donna noble, and now there’s another him, and he can grow old with you, and he can say “i love you” when the other him can’t, so you should be so happy, this should be your happy ending, but honestly, could you ever be able to wake up next to him and look at him and not think “this isn’t the man i traveled with”, “that isn’t the hand that i held all that time”, “those aren’t the legs that ran beside me” like i genuinely don’t think i’d ever be able to get out of my head that it isn’t the same man, i think it would drive me crazy.

not to mention that it isn’t a happy ending for the doctor, rose thinks it is because now there’s a brilliant hilarious time lady by his side in the form of donna, but rose doesn’t know how short-lived that is, how soon after he has to make her forget how important and brilliant she is. and then he’s alone again. and he’s alone until he dies. and then he’s a new man again and his feelings change and he’s born out of guilt and isolation this time, not love, not devotion.

like how can you look at that and see a good ending.

Posting this here cause it’s been a while since I last posted and I am actually pretty proud of this…. I am making a mock RED brochure for my graphic design class and this is the cover…. I need five more panels I literally spent all of Wednesday working on this because text is my enemy and I am never satisfied with it but like actually taking a break from working on it and looking again later i was like “huh actually that’s not bad.” Sitka banner font easily in my top ten….

I was so proud of it I set it as my phones Home Screen…. Legitimately want to transfer to graphic design but I am torn. I currently am in studio art and have my own personal studio (it is shared between me and three friends tho), if I switch to graphic I lose that, and I really value my space cause I’ve been using it for like,,, four years pretty much (two I would sneak in there before I was in college cause my sibling owned it before I did, these past two it’s been my spot). It has memories and art work (that would REAAALLLYY suck to transport because there are LARGE pieces like LARGE) okau I will be real I am posting and rambling because I am stalling on cleaning my room… I am lazy……. I also just like to talk…. Accidentally woke up at 12 instead of 9 oops…

Work is REALLY gonna pile up this month…. tgcf book spoilers, but one mu qing and xie lian snippet that I think about a lot is this one, at the start of xie lian’s second banishment when he’s surprised to hear mu qing being described as generous and kind:

I think it just really goes to show 1) how deeply mq’s actions truly affected xl and what he thought of him, but also 2) just how different mq and xl are fundamentally in the way that they think and approach things.

I don’t have a lot of commentary on xl that hasn’t already been said, but bc we get the story from xl’s pov, we see a lot of mq’s actions being framed as selfish or suspicious (which is fair, bc again, we know how much his actions hurt xl), but we also see a lot of misconstrued kindness, like in book 8 where it’s revealed that he knocked out fx in order to save him. it’s also pretty obvious how much mq still cares abt xl, with how quickly he volunteers as fu yao and the lengths he goes to protect him when he deems hc a threat, so I also think it’s very likely that mq leaving the trio first was exactly what he said it was — that he thought becoming a junior official, ascending quickly, would be the best way to take care of not just his mother, but also xl, fx, the king and queen, and himself, and so in a way, him leaving was him acting on his kindness. but ofc it doesn’t work out, and he spends the next 800 years fighting w/ fx about it, defending himself, his decisions, and his kindness, and nitpicking the accuracies of his statues while he himself remains completely misunderstood by the two people he probably cares abt the most.

and idk, I guess I just think that’s probably a really lonely way to spend 800 years.
