It's honestly depressing to see fast fashion stores like Primark with entire Barbie collections. You know these clothes were made unethically. That while the movie can be praised by it's minimal feminism subject, women in the global south are not even being payed a living wage to produce Barbie merchandise.

I'm not even trying to be like "Oh, you, person who watched the movie and had fun is at fault" thats not a productive criticism. It just genuinely upsets me. So much Capitalism Realism. So much "feminism" while oppressing real life women. I think we should be angrier about how capitalism steals our struggles to sell them back to us and continue that very oppression.

I loved playing with barbies when I was a kid but everytime I think about this movie for more than 2 seconds I want to explode everything. It's not just a case of Barbie being propaganda movie to sell dolls. It's directly contributing to the oppression of women when they are the ones being exploited for us to be able to buy pink barbie tshirts. I hate these contradictions. Jesus Christ I need to eat breakfast.

I love Mike so much he is ride or die with Alison the whole time. He never doubts her, as soon as she believes she sees ghosts he believes her. The only friction between them is shenanigans like I never thought for a moment it would cause serious relationship drama. He is peak Himbo. Cute, a little dumb, and so sweet. And I love that Alison is a little dumb, too. She has just as much of a playfulness as he does. They both have so much fun together and they love each other so much.

There are whispers of things before Battery City.

Of stubby buildings not unlike the skyscrapers modern citizens proudly call home and safety, but adorned with flimsy wood and glass cut-outs, or plaster casts that range from vain to downright obscene. Of wilderness, untamed, smothering clean and orderly neighbourhoods in an onslaught of burrowing roots, web-woven branches, and leaves serving as nothing more than breeding grounds for pests.

The bones of what once were giants now rest on the outskirts of town, hollowed and forgotten, like stalwart reminders of hardship overcome through ambition and human ingenuity. Yet, if one were to take a closer look at these remains, they would find little to no proof of any of the above: no scars left in the pavement or shattered stone ornaments— only scortched earth, shattered glass tinted by years of grime and canned paints amongst pieces of plastic all strewn about and shriveled up in shame.

Instead, the truth lives in glimpses caught between the pages of tattered journals, lost family albums, and long-overdue history books. There once were museums where Battery City now stands. Churches, libraries, and synagogues. Broadcast stations and astronomical observatories. There were post offices and schools, and houses older than the ages of everyone you've known combined, none of which still standing in the age of Progress and Valor (or more aptly known as the Danger Days).

What remains of the past now rests alone and dejected, a warning lost beneath the waves: Make yourself insignificant enough, and maybe one day you'll get yourself to believe comformity will lead you to survival.

Lando has really ruined his first race win for me personally. Like when I saw that he won (didn’t watch the race live) I was actually so fucking happy and then he goes on to actively praise Trump. He did NOT need to say all that, even if there was some kind of contract agreement that he wasn’t allowed to bash Trump or something

Not that there should be such a contract anyways because if the FIA is so strict about the no-politics-stuff when it was about human rights (same love, Black Lives Matter), they should not allow a politician in an active candidate campaign to go around the circuit and give out hats to promote himself.
