Tasting the Town

All of these locations were in the center of Lisbon, and reached on foot in an afternoon.

Soup & sandwich at “0 Trevo,” with a beer to wash it down. This was a vegetable based soup with cabbage and carrot. The sandwich was sliced pork.

This kiosk is one of the only ones in the city that serves the seafood below: Salted Cod in Aioli / Octopus Tapas + Calamari Sandwitch

Sical is well known for their award winning Pasteis de Nata (custard tart). I had one, and ‘um cafe.’

SYD'S FOOD TOUR NIGHT CARMY AND SYDNEY AND MARCUS

So the day Carmy bailed on the food tour with Syd, she went all on her own to taste everything.

That was sad to see because at one point she sat there with eating a big sundae watching a Mom and daughter spend time together.

At some point she takes a break to get updates from Marcus and tell him she has something to run by him later. He says looking forward and feels awkward because he's trying to seem cool for Sydney.

So it's a date.

Night time comes and Syd is walking to the restaurant. She's carrying a bag of food.

She gets there, knocks and waits, holding the bag up.

When the door opens

Lo and behold Carmy is there.

She asks him what he's doing there and lowers the bag

Now I know Carmy noticed that because he notices everything especially when it comes to Sydney

He lets her in and is touching her back, in full view of Marcus. He CLEARS HIS THROAT (the infamous Carmy tell of being uncomfortable).

He kicks debris Marcus' way and stands in between Syd and Richie and Marcus

He gets close up in SYD'S face, in front of Marcus

He says things like PAL to Fak.

I know Carmy must have been TIGHT as all get out because he doesn't talk like that and he KNEW she wasn't expecting him to be there. But Marcus for sure was gonna be and especially after they discussed sending him away.

Now I don't know what happened to the bag of food because she didn't leave there with it.

But I know good and well she didn't get to eat ANYTHING with Marcus

A THING HAPPENED THAT NIGHT.

Good Eats in Ghent

Ghent, while beautiful, was definitely hiding its food from us. We were staying in a gorgeous hostel that was smack-dab in the center of town (the facades), and while this gave us the best access to all the nearby scenery and gothic buildings, I suspect that those classic buildings were not easily retrofitted to house a kitchen. We’d been recommended a few restaurants in the area by our tour…
