it feels like the fastest way to lose all credibility in a room of aquarists is to say you don't find arowana, discus, or flowerhorns that desirable.

like i know it's an unpopular opinion, but they just aren't nearly compelling enough to be worth the purchase prices a lot of these fuckers go for.

#arowana have become such a cock measuring contest that the actual longevity and health of the animal doesn't matter #just that its the Newest and Most Expensive morph/line currently available #and idk if you think dog show people are insufferable wait till you have to spend an hour in a room with discus or flowerhorn people #like especially since at a dog show you wont get away with keeping your dog in a dark box for a week until show time so that #they are extremely distressed and aggressive during the judging bc it makes their colors prettier #fish bulshit

i love when i see a fish in a game and i google the fish and the first photo i see looks Identical to the fish in the game. like yeah that sure is fish!!

#googled a flowerhorn cichlid and the third photo in my results had the exact same pattern as the one in the game #it's much more fun when you know the fish is a kind with very varying scale colours and patterns #bc its like. thats my guy right there!!! there he is!!! he's real #also it's also slightly funny when you can Tell which photo they likely used for reference bc of patterning #i like that kind of. accidental peek behind the curtain. like accidentally stumbling on dev stuff #i like seeing the processes of how art is made and the little bits of life that leak into the art we make #and being able to connect those dots after the fact like. oh! they must have used this thing or this software or this picture #like when i found the game that the minecraft painting guy is from

manta ray, white tip shark, maybe red snapper?, silver arowana

#i was thinking blue flowerhorn chichlid at first for the parrotfish but it didnt look quite right #as for the tetras its just a small difference between neons and cardinals #neons only have half their bottom red #idk about specific lobster species #they straight up said the eel names so #lycoris recoil #fish #long post

My fish store has a very inquisitive and social flowerhorn for sale and I am SO tempted to get him for my new tank at work… however, he’s super expensive (flowerhorns go for upwards of $200) and I have my heart set on getting oscars.

back to 2019, in one of the local event, I met this amazing Artist from Bali, Desar Yuartha, with their ultra realistic animal drawing, with lots of Balinese cultures influences on their artworks... it was an instant hit on me...

they got several characters, including that super awesome lookin Fishman... that design right away took my liking for sure... a Flower Horn fish, or Louhan as some communities usually called em, in Desar's signature styling... with edgy vibes of a boss merchant style who seems to love money, hahahaw, brilliant!!! Flower Horn fish itself believed to be able to bring lucks based on Asiatic culture, so yeee, it works so well!!!
