In my personal opinion, I think Peeta begins falling for Katniss pretty much exactly when he says he does in the cave (aka, the first day of school when she sang, aka, "from that moment on, I was a goner"). He's not afraid of feelings/doesn't think of them as a weakness the way Katniss is/does, and while they don't officially meet until the day of the Reaping, they're not quite total strangers, either. It's sort of a running joke about small towns that "everybody knows everybody," so even when you aren't close to someone, you still kind of know things about them because you simply can't avoid crossing paths throughout your life.

[For instance: when I was in college, there was this one semester where I'd pass this same guy on my way to class every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for three+ months. To this day, I don't know his name, I don't know his major, I don't know whether he was coming from a dorm or a class or the library, but I know he had to catch the 11:55 bus, that he liked vanilla protein drinks more than chocolate protein drinks, that he would rather trip over someone than elbow his way past them, that he really liked wearing gray, and that he could jump a bike rack if he wanted to, because I observed all those pieces of information just casually walking past him for that short amount of time even though I had no interest in him. Peeta, by comparison, was interested in Katniss from the get-go and saw her at least five days a week for about a decade, so I think it's safe to assume a lot of the knowledge he surprises her by airing during their discussion with Haymitch (the hunting skills, the good aim, etc.) are things he's picked up on because he's (as he says) "paying attention." ]

Because his dad points Katniss out and tells a story about her mother (and her father, and the baker, which in and of itself is kind of interesting as it can sort of be taken as foreshadowing since it involves two kids from one side of town who grow up together but don't end up together because one of the kids falls in love with a person from the opposite side of town which, ya know, sounds a little G/K/P but I digress), Peeta notices her. But that first notice isn't The Moment™ for him; instead, it's her volunteering (!!!) to get up in front of the class and sing the Valley song that does him in.

And to be honest, while I do understand where people who discount that first day of school thing because "they were just kids" are coming from, I personally think it has to be counted because, as Peeta himself points out, he "noticed just about every girl," but the only one who makes "a lasting impression" is Katniss meaning, in essence, that he sort of tested/examined his feelings for Katniss and realized way before the Games that they were, in fact, strong enough to make him want to try and keep her alive at his own expense in the arena. For him, the romantic feelings are already in place by the time we the readers meet him, and finally getting to know her only strengthens how he feels because a lot of the things he most admires about her (her strength, her bravery, her skill, her stubbornness, her love for her sister, etc.) are all on full display. (Also: he thinks she's funny even if no one else does, and like he tells her in Catching Fire when she's mad at him for laughing after the Johanna-Elevator incident, he basically loves the fact that she's intimidating on the outside and awkward as anything [aka, "pure"] on the inside.)

To me, it's kind of significant that for Peeta, it's emphasized at the end of THG how he's "already there" when it comes to being in love, and that he "[wants] it to be real" in CF when they're parading their fake but-maybe-not-so-fake relationship around, and I firmly believe that the main reason his MJ storyline hurts so much beyond the usual watching-a-favorite-character-be-damaged-by-the-narrative is because his inability to tell the difference between what's real and what isn't is such a perversion of his previously rock-solid love for Katniss. Up until that moment in the series, we the readers and Katniss, and basically all the rest of Panem know that Peeta's feelings for her are real; after what the Capitol does to him, his biggest point of confusion centers on what he feels for Katniss, but even when he doubts what he's seeing/hearing/thinking/feeling, reason still tells him that you don't start off risking a beating for burning bread and go back into a government-sponsored death match for someone you don't love a whole lot.

In Katniss' case I think it's more difficult to pinpoint one exact moment of origin, because she doesn't like to deal with feelings to begin with and is also too practical to take time to sit down and sort out how she feels when there are so many other things to do (and also, a lot of what causes her to fall for Peeta are the smaller, everyday parts of his personality rather than any single grand gesture or one particular moment they share together).

That being said, Katniss is one of the closest approximations to myself that I've ever come across in fiction in terms of how we think/operate, so I personally see a lot of giveaways regarding how/what she thinks of Peeta and how that shifts over time. And to me, the closest thing to an official Romantic Feels Are Sparking moment is the moment in the cave when she starts to wonder if he's a really, really, really good actor, or if what he's telling her is maybe based in truth.

One of the things I've noticed over time during HG discussions is that a lot of people seem to either not fully understand or to gloss over Katniss' practicality, which is a huge part of who she is and how she makes her decisions (including romantic ones). Like she says herself several times throughout the series, Katniss is focused predominantly on survival for most of her life. That's it. She doesn't go for things like music, ribbons, pets, etc., because they're not useful, and to her, romantic relationships also fall in that category because they carry an inherent risk with them in a world where children born outside the wealthy Capitol are in danger of starving to death or getting sent to the Games, and loving and losing someone has the potential to make you fall apart. Due to everything she's gone through in life (losing her father, being essentially forced to take his place, etc.) , she's become self-sufficient and distrustful, and also extremely good at compartmentalizing her feelings (with the sometimes exception of anger). From the second she volunteers for Prim, her focus is on how to maximize her chances of survival; while she knows her odds aren't good, she's too much of a fighter to go down without swinging, and when she sees ways in which she can improve her chances, she goes after them to the best of her ability.

Enter: Peeta, the boy she feels indebted to but has never interacted with even once, who she is now competing with for survival.

Also enter: complicated feelings Katniss very much does not want to deal with because they are a distraction from her current goal of survival.

While it's definitely tempting to make headcanons about how Katniss also maybe had feelings for Peeta prior to the Games because she "[keeps] track of the boy with the bread," I think the important takeaway is: no romantic feelings exist on Katniss' side, but the potential for feelings might...it's just complicated by the Games, because Katniss is so focused on staying alive that she's constantly on guard and keeps misinterpreting his actions as some sneaky, crafty plan when he's actually just being kind. So, even when he catches her off guard and makes her laugh/she finds herself not totally hating hanging out with him, she has to immediately nip all that in the bud because she knows that her survival will ultimately come at the cost of his death, and it's an ugly reality that's much easier to face if she doesn't like him, or at least doesn't know him, than it will be if they become friends and she has to kill him/watch him die/mourn his loss (basically, the whole insidiousness principle of the Games: it forces you into dehumanizing your competitors to save yourself, which will ultimately take a horrible toll on you no matter what).

Although Katniss is inclined to like him, she is also massively confused by him because he keeps behaving in ways that are contradictory to all sense and reason ("He's very hard to predict, which might be interesting under different circumstances, but at the moment only provides another obstacle"), so she's constantly sifting through information until basically, only three explanations for what he's doing remain:

He's trying to survive and jumping at anything that will heighten his chance of that no matter how ruthless (aka pretending to be nice so he can eliminate her later, joining the careers, etc.)

He's genuinely kind but also genuinely trying to survive and is just acting for sponsors

He's telling the truth and really does like her

The trouble is, if you run all those reasons through the logic filter, the answer that seems the most likely is #2, because in Katniss' mind, it doesn't make sense that he'd help her as much as he does if he were just trying to kill her, but it also doesn't make sense that he'd do everything he does because he loves her since she doesn't even understand why anyone outside of her mother and sister would like her. So in essence, every time Peeta sort of tips his hand about how he really feels, Katniss notices it, but is able to find a logical explanation for it/dismiss it as strategy until that one moment in the cave when she realizes he's telling her some things that have a basis in reality, which would imply that everything he's been saying about liking her but her not knowing he was alive is true. And that time when they kiss, she feels something that A) gets the blood pumping in her cut enough to make Peeta stop it all, and B) sticks in her mind enough that she mentions it again in connection with the beach kiss(es) in CF.

Anyways. This is super-duper wordy, so for purposes of succinctness, I have also provided a quick photo summary of my arguments regarding when Katniss first began having real romantic feelings toward Peeta:

Everything is then (of course) further complicated by Snow and the Capitol, plus Peeta learning that Katniss was under the impression that the Star-Crossed Lovers story was a survival strategy, but the important thing to remember in my opinion is that Katniss explicitly states at both the end of THG and the beginning of CF that she is not sure how much of what she does in the 74th Games is an act, because those little moments in the cave feel real (coughcough), while most of the rest can be written off as planned pageantry.

So honestly I think I've seen each of the movies like...twice for Mockingjay 1 and 2 and three times for THG and CF. The movies are basically an opportunity to have gifs displaying events in the book more than movies for me. But here we go:

The Hunger Games: 2.5. I like the opening with the interview with Seneca Crane and then transitioning to Prim's screams. I overall like the casting--they should have gone for POC Seam characters, but Woody and Jen are at least good in their parts and Gale could have been played by a cardboard cutout for all I care about him (which is basically what Liam Hemsworth was). I do like the Crane and Snow peeks. Dislike: Shaky cam. Terrible, nonsensical bread scene. Cutting out Madge. The gruesomeness of their injuries being sanitized. Cutting down Everlark. Peeta lost his cheekiness and endearing qualities (not Josh's fault, it's the script/direction). The cave scene is disappointing. Get Gale out of my face during the Everlark kiss please. Taking out how desperate Katniss was to save Peeta and reducing her to rebelling and him to being an idiot in love was AGH. The ending is also super rushed. And cutting out Peeta being an amputee!!!

Catching Fire: 3.75. I love this movie from the Reaping onward. There are little things I'd change, like Peeta giving Katniss the pearl after the beach kiss so he'd recognize she was still planning on dying for him. But again, good casting for new parts, good expansion with Plutarch/Snow, they kept up the tension and shot the action really well. Dislike: Too much Everthorne (SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE KISSED HIM BEFORE GOING TO THE QUELL AGHHHH). Softening Gale too much (having him save a woman from a whipping instead of being caught poaching, reducing the fight he had with Katniss and his pettiness about Peeta and Haymitch to him just wanting to fight against the Capitol). Not even referencing Haymitch's games was a bummer. And a repeat of Peeta not being an amputee in the Games. This is definitely the strongest out of all of them.

Mockingjay Part 1: 3.25. I like for the movie that they replaced Fulvia with Effie. Jen and Josh are at their acting peak in this movie. Snow taunting Katniss during the rescue and the quote "It's the things we love most that destroy us." Dislike: Once again things are too sanitized. Cutting out the prep team being abused by 13. Also too much Everthorne. They needed to add more rifts between them as it was in the book.

Mockingjay Part 2: 2.5. It's shot well. Um. Idk, it follows the plot of the book so for me that's always an automatic 2 points at least. Donald Sutherland shined in this one as Snow. Dislike: This is when things being sanitized bothers me the most. Katniss should be absolutely DESTROYED at the end of the war, as should Peeta. They screwed up Everlark post-war. Katniss returning from hunting when she first sees Peeta instead of emerging from the worst of her depression and PTSD and grief was a misstep, as well as Everlark not sharing even a kiss post-war. The filmmakers were just cowards when it came to Everlark.

Personally I'm still advocating for a THG animated series. The movies had a lot they were trying to cram in for a movie runtime and were limited in terms of timeline. Maybe if TBOSAS does well Hollywood will come to return to an established property.

Lol I barely started writing fanfiction 2 years ago 😅 so I guess I don't feel qualified to be called legendary! But hey, thank you so much for the compliment!

Hopefully none of the OG thg fanfic authors will be offended, I just imagine people like:

But on a more serious note, you said you wanted advice for writing in the Fandom. Even though I'm still relatively new to this, I will try my best to give you the advice I would have liked to receive when I started writing and engaging with the Fandom community.

1. Write for yourself: Seriously. Don't write the majority of your stuff so you can get kudos and likes. Write what makes you happy, and invest time in writing stories you enjoy and love. Because at the end of the day social media and statistics are fickle and don't often accurately reflect the impact your writing can have on the world at large.

I learned this the hard way. It was an uncomfortable lesson, but suffice to say that these days I am definitely more focused on the stories that inspire me everyday, the ones that live rent free in my head and are just begging to be put down on paper, or typed out on my keyboard. And I am loads happier because of that choice.

2. You do not have to answer every prompt or ask that finds its way into your inbox. It's OK to leave some things on the backburner and focus on your priorities. Fanfiction is a hobby and most people aren’t getting paid for doing it. (Almost no one I know or have heard of) I personally try to answer all my asks, even if only to say I'm not interested in writing the story the reader is requesting. But I've also just flat out deleted some rude or offensive asks before. I do not obligate myself to respond to rude anons or their questions.

3. It's OK to take breaks from writing. For your mental health, for your well being, and also when you just don't have the time or energy to churn out a chapter every weekend. Again, fanfiction is a free gift, not an obligation. Don't get sucked into the pressure to perform or feel guilty if real life circumstances make it hard or impossible to write.

4. Don't delete your old/first fics. The better you get at writing the more you will be tempted to do this, but trust me, there will be people who love your early stuff, grammar errors and all. Don't deny them the privilege of reading your first story. Even if it is tropey or whatever. Let it stand as a testament to how much you've grown and how much you love this universe. The Fandom will love you for your authenticity and realness.

5. Take chances. Write that dark or slightly weird fic. Write that PWP smut fic. Publish your spotify inspiration playlist. Send your fave author a chat or inbox question. Make connections, laugh at the weirdness or mundane aspects of your hyperfixations. Write 10 stories about the one bed trope. Write 100 enemies to lovers fics. Just do whatever makes you happy and allows you to be creative. Make friends and reach out to your fellow writers. Literally 99% of people I've met in the Fandom are freaking awesome and I do not regret any of the connections I've made in the 2 years since I joined.

6. Just have fun. Real life is full of so much negativity and hardships, and fanfiction should be about enjoying the journey of the characters and the story. All of this is literally just for fun. Publishing on Ao3 or FFN or here on Tumblr, is simply for enjoyment, its not a job or a career. So enjoy it! 😉 Make memes and gifs and chapter covers and mood boards. Write drabbles and weird snippets of dialogue. Let it all out, and say what you want to say. Somewhere out there, there is a reader who will fall in love with your words if you just have the courage to set them free.

I've been a THG fan since 2012, right after the first movie came out in theatres.

I also was/am a roleplayer, and pretty much right after watching the movies joined German roleplay forums to roleplay Effie (did ship Hayffie btw), some tribute OCs, and later Caesar, too (forumieren and bplaced if anyone knows those lol).

By the end of that chapter (circa summer 2014), I had grown frustrated because forum roleplays come and go, meaning I've had cool ideas that wouldn't last for a long enough time as the forums would die down or close. New movie=lots of new forums, but as soon as they hype is gone, there's no forums left.

I've had tumblr for a while already, but in summer 2014 I followed one of those rp accounts, an Effie, and I asked her if she was interested in rping with my Caesar (not shippy).

I started rping on tumblr in summer 2014, became pretty famous in the THG fandom and I'd say in the rp community as a whole, until I got banned due to the NSFW ban (I did reblog a few NSFW gif sets throughout my time, nothing explicit tho) in roughly November 2018, got my blog back in circa August 2019, but the fandom had died down a lot, so I was sorta drifting away, got an idea for a fic in mid 2020 and started trying to get into that. Am here now, and with some more ideas.

My rp blog was @showmaxter, but since then I've renamed it to @capitolhost, because I wanted it to be more lowkey as well. Cannot say that being that well known was always great. It was cool to join a server and people being thrilled to see you around, and I'm astonished about apparently having inspired people to go into webdesign (I earned money through custom themes) like that's insane, but I don't miss the drama and scrutiny. I'd rather write my little niche stories and have my quiet.

ship i’ve read the most of: huh! Hmm. I think it might be them at this point honestly 👀 otherwise - it could've also been Beth Harmon/Benny Watts.

Yes - Queen's Gambit fics... Was a thing in my life. I was in a deep dark hole at the time & that show just hit something in me - I grasped onto it for dear life as a form of escapism for months and it brought me back into fanfics after years & years.

wild card: figure skater ships? i don't wanna get into the specifics though 🙈 things have changed.

first ever ship: oh, we're going there are we 👀 there might've been earlier ones I can't remember. They were probably niche though. So I guess I'll say Skate (Sawyer/Kate from Lost - anyone remember that show?). But I think Suspian (Susan/Caspian from Narnia. Yep.) needs an honorary mention cause it's the first I got involved in to the point of making ship content - even if I didn't know that term yet (wasn't I such a fun kid?).

last movie: oh I've been bad at watching movies for a while now (shows seem... easier) - so it seems like actual movie-wise that's gonna be Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore a few weeks back (@kiray1991 👀)

currently reading: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (been on my shelf forever & was reminded of it by the trailer coming out. It seems like I've recently been unintentionally catching up on my older fandoms - with this THG prequel & the Fantastic Beasts movies). Also John Lennon: The Life by Philip Norman is one I've started; stopped for a sec and will be coming back to next.

currently watching: in the middle of Get Back - the Beatles docu-series. Had a bit of a break cause I like to craft while watching that one & haven't had motivation to do so lately. But can't wait to get back (pun not intended actually, but I'm still proud of it) into that one.

currently consuming: a bunch of meds, cause I'm sick atm :c. Also coffee.

Yes but it might take awhile to get around to doing them. I love being active on this blog but from when I first made it vs now.. I have way less time. I expanded my business over the weekend! (opened my own studio!) Busy beeeeee. However, you can definitely drop recommendations in my Ask box and I can post the ideas for other gif makers! :-)

My THG story is a very Tumblr story xD

When I first heard about the hunger games I was NOT into it. It did feel like a total rip off of Battle Royale (Japanese cult movie) which I loved, so of course after the terrible remakes holliwood made of asian movies like the grudge I was NOT a fan of the idea...

BUT

There comes Tumblr and its gifs culture and someone I followed for another fandom started posting about effie and haymitch and... Yeah ! I kinda liked that dynamic xD and the aesthetic, I tried to find out if they were a thing and watched the first movie: decided that YES Suzanne Collins definitely got more than a few ideas out of Battle Royale but haymitch and effie were not one of them xD

At that point I needed to know more so I got myself all 3 books in audiobook format to listen to on the commute to class (don't ask me how, I have no idea xD) and I had to give at least one good point to the author: she can do her world building alright, even if the books are in katniss point of view and first person narrator which I don't like very much ._.

Anyway, fell totally in love with haymitch and effie and all the unsaid and by the time the next movie came out I was at the theater buying tickets and snacks *-*

Last thing researched for art/writing/hyperfixation: I’m sure it was something related to woodwork as I’ve been really getting into that recently! I want to make so many things

Favorite online fandom memory: that’s tough. There’s so many. First day on here after the tlou pilot was a lot of fun. Meg and I’s complete fail at thinking the winter hug was actually two and people actually believing us 💀 A lot of the interactions with the core wolfpack lovers on here were so fun. I’ve also had interactions and conversations with big Instagram editors + followings that I’ve really enjoyed, too

Favorite old fandom you wish would drag you back in/have a resurgence: ooh Travelers probably. Or Arrow. Or Agents of Shield. Or Dark Matter—it was cancelled, but I really enjoyed that show 😭 it got cancelled on the worst note too. I remember finishing the last episode and writing down every unanswered thing and I came to like… 13 things. I was so upset 💀 still an enjoyable sci-fi show and a really sweet father-daughter / big brother-little sister coded relationship that I still think about!

Favorite thing you enjoy that never had an active or big “fandom” but you wish it did: PROSPECT!! We’re so small (please join please watch the movie I’m begging you please it’s such a good time and there’s so many good Ezra & cee fics you’re missing out on and a whole WORLD that’s so fun to explore). And, again, Travelers and Dark Matter

Tempting project you’re trying to rein in/don’t have time for: Tlou amnesia fic, prospect snuffing fic (there’s two. maybe.) Other sad tlou fic. Haymitch and Katniss fic that I’d write if I’d actually watch the movies and understand them to the fullest degree instead of going in guns blazing as the Rot, led only gifs alone, leads me

okay well now you have to talk about all the concerts you went to! i need all the details. and i hope you're feeling better<3 i'm going to use one of the pre-written rphserver questions as a jump starter so! who are some of your current favorite fcs and why! like are they some of your favorite muses? do you love them as people? both? give me all the knowledge!

that answer is not fun at all cause all four concerts i've been to in the past weeks were taylor swift's the eras tour haha she was in brazil for six shows and managed to get tickets for most of them which was INSANE cause we truly fought the great war trying to get those.. but yeah, it was a lot of fun all things considered. but between the heat, running around and eating cheap stadium food my immune system said girl sit down! i'm feeling way better now though, thank you so much lovely <3 honestly my favorite fcs of the moment are always from the last thing i watched/became obsessed with because.. oh well, that's hyperfixation for you. right now i'm also obsessed with rachel zegler and tom blyth because of the new thg movie. and then maia mitchell's new show pulled me back.. i'm giffing it right now and i missed her face so badly. ella purnell cause i recently watched yellowjackets for the first time and she's my girl and huh yunjin from le sserafim cause she's just the most gorgeous. they are all (except tom, i need to get on that) faces for some of my muses, mostly new who i still need to develop and get attached too. but then maia is charlie's face and she's a old muse i love so badly but barely play anymore. all time favorites though would be aslihan malbora and dylan o'brien, they're my go-to always and they're definitely some of my favorite muses. patrick is actually my oldest muse that i still play to this day, i made him when teen wolf was airing season two i think? so you know it's been a while. and i've been through so much with him, developing him, actually bringing his twin sister to life (who i love very dearly) and he's always gonna be my favorite one. he's my go-to answer when i think of if i had to drop all muses and make a single-muse blog, cause he's my baby. and then for my aslihan fc, celine, who's not on this blog anymore cause i retired her but she was such a fun one to make and use around. i always love making new muses for group verses/rps because the plots you get instantly help you discover so much about your muses and develop them in different ways. she's pretty much a reserved/selective muse now cause i don't see her working with just any plot and that makes things harder for me but i hold her so dearly in my heart.

MADGE! My underrated, unsung, practically unknown no thanks to the films hero!

Ugh, where to begin.

(Also: sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this, and thank you for the ask! Madge Undersee deserves better than people who only watched the films going "Wait, you mean Mags, right?" 💖)

Even though we don't ever get to know her to the extent that we get to know characters like Finnick, or Prim, or even Plutarch, I love that we're able to see what kind of a person she is through what she does. (For instance: she is the mayor's daughter which basically elevates her to a certain position of status, but the girl she considers a friend/eats lunch with in silence every day, is a girl from The Seam. She tries to make light of a serious topic like the Reaping through jokes, brings a pin that once belonged to her aunt who made it very far into a particularly horrible edition of the Games to Katniss as a present, brings some of her mother's expensive meds for Gale, etc.) I like that she sort of befriends Katniss against her will, and doesn't treat her any differently after the latter becomes something of a de facto celebrity, and that she seems to instinctively understand that Katniss wants/needs companionship that doesn't involve guilt, pity, pressure, hero-worship, forced happiness etc., and does her best to offer that without any strings attached.

I think her gift of the pin was more coincidence than anything else, but I also think that it's fun to headcanon that Madge maybe spends some of her long, lonely evenings eavesdropping on her father's meetings/calls. And that maybe at some point she overheard something about how Haymitch won his Games, that he was partnered with her aunt (the original wearer of the pin), and thought that it might possibly do Katniss some good if he saw her wearing it.

Re: Gale and the morphling: The simplest explanation is that Madge is a kind person who considers Katniss a friend, and because of that would obviously try to help out someone who is basically Katniss' family.

That being said, I've always leaned toward the idea that maybe there were some sparks between Madge and Gale that we don't get to see, because it always seemed to me that he talks sharply to her in the beginning of THG in a way that doesn't seem fully connected to her being one of the richer kids. Like yes, I'm definitely reaching here, but to me, there's an aspect to it that feels like he might be a little attracted to her but annoyed because he assumes that since she's from the merchant side of town she probably thinks herself better than kids from The Seam. And, since Katniss and we all know that's not the case, I choose to believe that Haymitch's remark in CF is related to a Madge/Gale connection...maybe, while being grumpy about how close Katniss and Peeta were getting, Gale started hanging out more with Madge, since they in essence both lost their best friend while she was gone to the Games/busy on the tour, and maybe that's when he realized she's not stuck-up, and maybe there were some hints of something more between them, and maybe that's why Madge rushed over to offer help in the one way Gale would be unable to refuse.

While I understand that not EVERYTHING can make it into the films due to time constraints, I think that excluding Madge from the first movie made it that much easier to exclude the story of Maysilee Donner from the narrative, which in turn lessened the significance of the pin itself and helped keep the details of the last Quarter Quell from making it into CF. (Which, in my humble opinion, is a huge loss. The impact Haymitch's Games had on him essentially shape him into the character we know, and it adds another layer to the rebellion angle once we learn that Madge, whose family is supposed to represent the Capitol's presence in District 12, has inadvertently gifted Katniss a direct reminder to Snow/the Capitol of their failure to control Haymitch at a time when they're actively failing to control Katniss and Peeta.)

So, all in all? I think it was a mistake to not include Madge, and I'm honestly still a little bitter about it. It's not even as if a huge part had to be written for whoever they cast. We just needed to see her enough to establish her relationship to Katniss, and it would've made the losses in MJ so much more emotional if it were made clear that someone Katniss spent a lot of time with over the years was just gone...without warning, without any chance for a goodbye, and literally in the blink of an eye. Like, on some level, I can't believe I'm advocating for more sadness from the MJ films, but I really do believe it would have added a lot of depth if she had just been included in a small way.

"Who would be your fancast for Madge if there is a new adaptation?"

This is a little outside the age-range now, but I think I've always pictured someone like Elle Fanning. Madge has a sort of quiet strength/calm kindness mixed with humor about her, and I think that EF would play that very well <3
