Holiday Shopping
Dad!Luke x Mom!Reader
Description: Luke, your 4 year old son and you go holiday shopping together. And yes they did name their kid after Sidney Crosby because I feel like at least one Hughes brother would do that.
Warnings: fluff, lots of it, children and a pregnancy mention.
NOT MY GIF!
Tumblr media
“Luke did you text Quinn to ask him if we’re getting Jack a new basketball net for the lake house?” I asked my husband as we walk around Dick’s Sporting Goods.
“Yeah he said we’re gonna buy it since we have a bigger car and he’s gonna pay me half of it back.” He said. “Uhm I’ll pick out the net and you can go to the shoes with Sid to let him pick new ones for school, and can you grab a pair of air forces for Duker? I’ll text you his size.”
“Yeah. Can you also grab another stick for Sid for street hockey? Your brother and him were playing yesterday and he broke his other stick.” I said and Luke nodded before we went our separate ways.
After we pay there we put all the stuff in the trunk of Luke’s truck before we went into the actual mall.
We decided to start off my going into some stores to buy things for our mums, we picked up makeup and skincare from Sephora, some comfy leggings from some pop up leggings store, and some Ugg boots from the Ugg store.
Then we went into Spencer’s and bought Quinn some T-shirt with some lame quote about looking grumpy because Luke thought it was the funniest thing ever, and we went to GameStop and got him a new controller because Luke said he complains about drift while playing chel.
We picked up Mario Kart for Sid’s switch at the GameStop as well, Luke and Sid went off on their own after to find something for me, so I decided to grab some things for them, which was, like: some actor Luke likes biography, some Nike sweatpants, Lululemon hoodies and a headband (his hair is always in his face but he doesn’t wanna cut it), a new Stanley because he lost his at the rink, and a baby onesie to tell him about the baby I’m pregnant with. And I got Sid: some Lego sets he told me he wanted, a Nike sweatsuit, a new target set for his net, new roller blades, Mario Kart as said earlier, and a new iPad since he dropped his down the stairs.
We met back up after and Sid was sleeping in Luke’s arm as he was carrying bags in another.
“Let’s just buy my dad something online, someone’s a little sleepy.” He said and I smiled at my two beautiful boys.
“That sounds good. He’s not hard to shop for anyways. Let’s go.” I said and we drove home.
I hid the presents I bought for the guys in the laundry room knowing neither of them go in there anyways. Then I go upstairs and see Luke and Sid lying in mine and Luke’s bed so I lay with them and just stare at my sleepy boys.
I love my family, and I can’t wait for the new addition to come in 5 months.

Tumblr media
Some time ago, i released this picture on my DA with a caption, later suppplemented by a short story expanding on the theme, followed by personal afterword regarding my background and themes of the story, which i now decided to present here on tumblr, all joined into one text. Once again, english isn't my first language, it was one of the first longer pieces i wrote and i'm by no means a writer, but i hope some of you might enjoy it nonetheless.
Hope you don't mind
You met her on an online forum about your favourite band and you've been messaging for a month now. She was just perfect: Funny, smart and as far as you were aware she was really interested in you, but everytime you suggested meeting somewhere, she said she's either busy or just changed the subject. Not wanting to push her, you gave her some time to think about it.
One morning a message from her, accompanied by a photo landed in your inbox:
"So...this isn't easy for me, but you seem like genuinely good person and i'd hate myself if i passed that opportunity  because i was insecure. Anyway, this is me. I had an accident with high voltage  power lines six months ago and i'm still insecure about meeting new people or going in public in general.
If you feel weird about it i completely understand and won't bother you any more, but if you still want to meet, i know a nice little pizzeria just around corner from where i live. The owner is an old family friend and could arrange a small room in the back for us so people won't stare."
Why should i mind?
As you read the message over and over, your mind is racing, filled with mixed emotions. On one hand, you're relieved – she really wants to meet you after all. On the other hand you can't help but feel sad – such a beautiful, smart girl, full of life, suffering from such horrible injury. Of course, you never for a second consider saying no to her proposition – she is still the great girl you messaged with the past month. You immediately write your reply:
„Hey! Of course i still want to meet you - i've been asking to meet you for some time now and nothing changed about that! Today, 4 in the afternoon works for you? Just tell me where the pizzeria is and i'll wait for you there.“
In few minutes she replied:
„Oh, you can't believe how relieved i am – thank you for not being weird about it! Yes, 4 will be perfect time. The pizzeria is Giovanni's on the corner of Oak and Harbor st – just tell the owner you're Jana's friend, he'll seat you in the back.“
„Well… I have a date!“ you think to yourself. Rummaging through your wardrobe you struggle to find anything you'll be satisfied with – going all dressed up like to prom seems like overkill, but you don't want to come all casual either – after all, you really care for her and you want to show it. In the end you settle for your least worn cargo pants with a T-shirt of your favorite band – you know she likes them too, so you hope this might outweigh your otherwise way too casual look. You set off early, intending to buy flowers for her. After careful consideration, you buy a nice bouquet of seven pink carnations and set off to Giovanni's.
As you step inside ten minutes before 4, the owner – a rather short, somewhat overweight yet muscular man with large hands and a bushy mustache above his friendly smile greets you. „Welcome to Giovanni's, what can i do for you?“ „Uhm, hello, i am Friend of Jana…“ „Oh, Wonderful, wonderful!“ the owner interrupts you with a big warm smile, A friend of our little Jana is my friend too! Right this way, have a seat, i'll bring you a vase for these beautiful flowers. Care for a drink in the mean time?“ „Yes, i saw you serve a homemade lemonade, please.“ you answer. „A wonderful choice! Comming right up!“ says the owner with a wide smile.
With that, the owner runs back front, returning in half a minute with your lemonade served in beautiful tall glass with pieces of lemon, lime and mint leaves, toped with a bright red straw. „Here you go! When Jana arrives i'll send her right away. Now, if i may ask, when did you two met? Pardon me for asking what might be a personal question, but you see, being friends with her parents ever since i moved here, Jana is like niece to me.“ "Oh, don't apologise, i understand.“, you reply, “To be frank, we haven't met in person yet, we were just chatting over internet and i really liked her – and the feeling was mutual, dare i presume.“ „I see“, says the owner, „So you know about…?“, He struggles to put his thoughts to words, instead just shrugs his shoulders one by one.
„Oh? Oh! Yes, i do. In fact, she told me just this morning.“ „I was just asking.“, nods the owner, „You see, our poor little Jana suffered enough. I just don't want her to leave today with a broken heart, so i wanted to make sure you won't freak out or something.“ „Oh no, don't worry, sir. I was asking her for a meetup for two weeks before i knew about it. I liked her before i knew about it and i don't see why it should change anything.“ The owner nods his head „I see. You're good in my books then, kid. I'm glad Jana found someone so understanding.“ He pats your shoulder as he says that.
There is a ring from the little bell above entrance and a young woman's voice calls:
„Uncle Tigran, are you there?“ „That's her.“ Says the owner and rushes off to the front. „My little Jana, it's so nice to see you again! Your friend is in the back, go, have some fun, and when you're ready, call me and i'll be right back to take your order.“
You stand up to greet her. In few seconds, she peeks inside the room with a shy, almost affraid look on her face. As your eyes meet, she smiles at you and you smile back. Despite the smile, her green eyes show a hint of timid apprehension. As she steps in, you notice her motionless hands, convincing at first glance, but knowing her condition, obviously artificial.
"Hi, nice to finally meet you", you say, holding the bouquet of carnations forward. "Oh, these are beautiful, thank you, she says, leaning in to smell them. Looking into her beautiful green eyes, your heart flutters with happiness.
„I'm really so glad to finally meet you in person“ you say. „You're even more beautiful than on the photo .“
„Oh, thank you. Nobody said such thing to me since…“ she pauses, looking into distance. After few seconds she breaks off, shyly attempting to smile on you. „Anyway, would you mind helping me with my coat?“ „Of course, right away“, you say as you move in to unbutton it. As you remove her coat, the prosthetic arms slip off her shoulders, staying firmly inside the coat's sleeves, letting her little arm stumps show. „Oh, sorry, i didn't mean to, let me…“ you stammer an apology.
„No, that's allright. They were meant to come off. I should have told you. I wear them on the street to avoid the stares, but they are so uncomfortable, so since here i am among people who know about me, i just hooked them to the coat so i don't have to wear them all the time.“
As you sit on the opposite sides of the table, you suddenly don't know what to say. You see she is uncomfortable, so you try to steer the conversation a different way.
„So… This pizzeria – It's named Giovanni's, but i heard you call the owner a different name?“
„Oh yes, uncle Tigran gave this establishment italian sounding name as marketing trick. He is great, though, one of the best pizza chefs around. He says he spent five years in Naples learning about local cuisine, actually. I understand you already talked with him?“
„Oh yes, he seems like really nice, but no-nonsense kind of guy. Told me you're like a niece to him and warned me not to break your heart. Not that i intended to, anyway.“, you add with a smile.
„Yeah, uncle Tigran was always nice to me. He visited me in the hospital almost daily when i…“ once again, Jana's gaze slides into distance.
„You don't have to talk about it, i'm sorry if i reminded you in any way.“ You say hastily.
„Oh? No, don't apologize, you did nothing wrong, it's just… Everything reminds me, you know? Wherever i go, whatever i do, every single thing reminds me i no longer…“ she pauses and sighs, lifting her stumps to illustrate her point before continuing „…have arms. Waking up in the morning, i try to lift my blanket and these useless things just flap about helplessly. Reaching for things, trying to do any simple task, even steadying myself when i trip – everything i do i must remind myself i can't do it the normal way anymore. If it was just one i could deal with it, but like this? I feel so helpless sometimes. The first few weeks in the hospital i had to bother the nurses everytime my nose got itchy, not to mention i had to be showered by them, just standing there, leting them clean me off. Tt felt so dehumanising... I'm sorry i spilled all this on you, it's my problem and i should deal with it myself, you don't have to think about it.“ She averts her eyes, looking down into the table.
„Jana,“, you say, „If i wanted not to think about it i wouldn't be here with you – and that would make me quite a bad person, don't you think? I came because i liked you from the moment we started chatting, long before i ever saw you. If there is anything i can do to help you – even if it would be just to stand by your side to always be able to remind you how great person you are whenever should you doubt yourself – i want to be there and help you.“
With tears welling in her eyes, Jana lifts her head „Really? You would do that for me?“
„Of course i would. You are smart, funny and stunningly beautiful. If i can help it, i wish for you never to be sad again“, you reach over the table with a tissue to wipe the tears from her cheeks.
„Thank you,“ she says, suppressing tears, visibly moved. „I never thought i would hear anybody say that to me. Come on - let's order some food, i'm starving.“
As if waiting for his cue, the owner comes in with a big smile „So, what would you want, my dears? We have excellent Margherita Napoletana, but if you're not into traditional pizza, i might do a regular New York style. Most people prefer that, anyway – beats me why, though, there's nothing better than proper traditional italian pie.“
„I think i could go for your Napoletana, Jana told me you're one of the best pizza chefs around, mister… uhh…“ „Tigran Manukyan, at your service.“, he replies with maybe a little too deep bow, „I presume our little Jana here told you about my little trick already, so why should i hide it anymore? Anyway, what can i offer you, my darling?“ says mister Manukyan turning to Jana. „I'll take the Napoletana too, uncle Tigran. And might i ask you for a glass of that lemonade too? It looks so refreshing.“ „Comming right up, my dears“, says mister Manukyan and rushes off.
„So… Where were we?“ asks Jana. „Well,“ you say, „I just told you you're beautiful and i wish to be always there for you.“
„Oh…“ she pauses, but smiles, finally seeming to be at ease, „I mean… Thank you. I'm sorry, I've became quite bad at taking compliments lately – not that i ever was any good to begin with, but now… i mean, you know, with my…“ she says, wiggling her arm stumps.
„You don't have to explain yourself, i understand“, you calm her, „Jusk know you are beautiful to me and nothing can ever change that. In fact, you were beautiful to me long before i knew how you even look, when we were still just chatting.“
Mister Manukyan comes with Jana's glass of lemonade and a pitcher „I brought you two some more for refills – on the house of course. The pizzas will be done in few minutes.“ Almost unisono, you and Jana reply „Thank you, mister Manukyan /Thank you, uncle Tigran“ and with a smile, he leaves.
„Anyway,“ says Jana, „I know you're telling me that just to make me feel better. Why would somebody as cute as you consider someone ‚beautiful‘ just from an online chat?“ she says, leaning forward for the straw and taking a sip from her drink.
„Maybe because i found a great person to talk to and spend time with.“ You reply, looking directly into Jana's eyes. „Maybe i don't care about looks that much. Maybe i think beauty is not only based on somebody's looks. And maybe, or not as much maybe as quite undeniably surely, you are actually beautiful even if i would step so low as to judge you just by your looks. You have pretty face, beautiful hair and the most captivating emerald eyes i've ever seen. But even without that, you are above all the brave, smart girl i came to know and love – and nothing can change that.“
„Brave? How am i brave? I spent half a year hiding from world, almost never leaving my room unless i had to.“ Replied Jana.
„Yet you came here and invited me.“, you say, “You overcame your anxiety and reached out. That alone was braver than most people would ever hope to be. All i ask of you is to believe in yourself as i believe in you. You are the bravest girl in know and i love you for that.“
„I love you too“, she says, hint of tears in her eyes once again as she shifts closer to you with her arm stumps outstretched. Understanding the hint, you hug her, gently stroking her hair with your hand.
„Oh, young love, what a beautiful sight!“ says mister Manukyan as he comes in with your pizzas in each hand „Here is your food, my dears, Bari Akhorzhak to you both!“
„Uncle Tigran,“ says Jana, lifting her head from your shoulders, „this was the first time ever i heard you speaking Armenian in your pizzeria.“
„Well, i figured i might as well drop the act, my dear.“ said mister Manukyan with a smile. „Pizza is my passion and my living, but i'm no Italian and never will be. Maybe it's time for me to fly my true colors with pride. People come here for good food, not for fake Italian. Of course, a name change would be required, then, but i hope people would come nonetheless. After all ‚Uncle Tigran's‘ has a nice ring to it, no? And i might as well put some of my old family recipes on the menu. Next time you come, i'll make you the best Lahmajoun you ever had, i promise!“
„That would be really great, mister Manukyan“, you say with enthusiasm, „I'm looking forward to it.“
As mister Manukyan leaves with a big, warm smile, you and Jana sit to your pizzas. "Do you need any help?" you ask. "No." says Jana almost too quickly. "Well yes, probably, but i shouldn't. I need to do this on my own - i mean, there won't always be somebody around to help me, but i will be always armless, you know?" You notice her suddenly easing up, as if adressing her condition out loud, without euphemisms or hesitating helped her finally come to terms with it. "Would you mind helping me taking off my shoes, though?"
"Of course", you say as you kneel and gently lift her right foot in your hand, taking off her shoe and sock, then doing the same with her left foot. "Thank you. You're a real sweetheart" she says, lifting her feet up to the tabletop, awkwardly picking the fork with her left foot and knife with the right. As you sit on the opposite side of table, you can't take your eyes off her while she cuts a small piece of her pizza and using the fork in her left food brings it to her mouth with a great effort.
"Oooh!" she smiles with pleasure as she savors the food in her mouth, "I almost forgot how great uncle Tigran's pizzas are! You should eat too while it's hot." Taking a bite from your own pizza, you must agree - this is certainly the best pizza you ever had. As you both eat, you notice Jana's movements becoming ever so slightly more fluent and relaxed with each bite. you can't help but stop and look at her, smiling.
"What? Is something on my face?" she asks as she starts rubbing her nose with her right stump. "No, it's just... When you came you were all tense and apprehensive, but now you seem to ease up." "I just know i'm in a good company", she says, shrugging her shoulders, "I mean, yeah, i knew you are funny and kind from the first time we started chatting, but now, you made me feel... appreciated, normal. Like i matter. I... probably just needed to hear that, you know? Like... from somebody outside of my family." "I see," you say, "But how come you weren't so shy when we were chatting on the forum?"
"I don't know, i guess the anonymity played a part, you know?" she ponders, "Like - on the internet, nobody sees me. Nobody knows. There's no way to tell whether the person on the other side is beautiful, ugly, thin, fat or uses toes to write. That probably helped me there."
"Tell me about it," you say. "Sometimes i feel anxious even making a phonecall, let alone talking to strange people in person!" "You?" she smiles "No way! You seem so cool and confident. After all, you asked me out first, i would have never had the guts to do it myself without you."
"The same magic of the anonymous internet as in your case" you reply, "And if i somehow seem confident now, it's only because i feel like we known each other for ages. It's hard to describe, but i feel like we were meant to be together, you know?"
setting down the knife, she extends her right foor over the table towards you, gently stroking your face with her big toe. Smiling, you take her foot in your hands, planting a soft kiss on her ankle. She giggles "That tickles! But... it feels nice." Kising her foot once again, you let go of it, looking deep into her green eyes with a warm smile. "So, are you up for a little stroll after we finish our pizzas?", you ask her. "Gladly!", she replies as she puts another piece i her mouth. "Do you have any specific place in mind?" "Well," you say, "I was thinking of just going for a walk, but if you want, we might go to the gazebo on the cliff above the city and watch the sunset together?" "Oh, romantic!" she exclaims with excitement. "I like that."
When you finish your pizzas, mister Manukyan comes in to clean up, almost as if he was waiting for his cue. "Enjoyed your food, my dears?" he asks, "Everything was up to your liking? "Of yourse, uncle Tigran," responds Jana with a smile, "I always loved your cooking."
As you leave Jana in the back to pay for the food, mister Manukyan says:
"Thank you for everything, kid. Jana really needed someone to just be there for her. She used to visit me every week, but since her accident she just moved back to her parent's house and stoped going out. I knew what she was going through, but i had no idea how to help. Turns out, all she really needed was for someone outside of her family to just treat her with love and respect and you did just that. I won't lie to you - i doubt if stuff would be just *poof* and everything is okay now, people just don't work like that and i am sure there is still a lot ahead of Jana before she's back to the cheerful self i remember from before her accident, but i feel like you really helped her make a big progress today. Once again, thank you for that."
"It was my pleasure, mister Manukyan." you replied, "She is great girl and i fell for her ever since we started chatting." "I'm glad to hear that. And please, you can call me Tigran", he says with a smile, "Or Uncle Tigran, whole town will know me like that anyway soon, at least i hope."
After shaking hands with mister Manukyan, you return to Jana, who is almost prepared to leave. As you help her tie her shoes loose enough so she can slip them on and off at will, you go fetch her coat.
"No, you can leave that here,", she says, "i'll talk with uncle Tigran and ask him to hide it somewhere so i can pick it up later."
"Are you sure? Your arms are in there, don't you want to put them on?"
"Not really. As i said, they are heavy and uncomfortable. Also, they are purely cosmetic, so aside from keeping people from staring, they are pretty much useless.", she said. "And if that means people will stare, then so be it. I need to get used to showing in public and i thought why not now, when i have you by my side?" "As you wish," you reply. "Shall we go, then?"
"Okay. I hope you don't mind being seen in public with a disabled girl"
"Being seen with beautiful smart girl i love? Why shuld i mind?"
A little afterword is due.
This story, while obviously coming from place of my attraction to women with, let's say, non-standard physique, in this particular case bilateral arm amputees, is a departure from my usual style. My usual character background snippets revolve around happier circumstances - my characters usualy lose their limbs voluntarily, non-permanently or in some obscure magic way, which, while it can't be assured to be temporary, has the peculiar side effect of making them weirdly okay with the changes.
This is not the case. In reality, a limb loss is a powerful traumatic experience to vast majority of people. Overcoming such trauma might take weeks, months, years even, and some people may never recover mentally. I felt like this point was worth mentioning and keeping in mind.
As for overall themes of this story, the main themes are hope, acceptance and dealing with adversity. In that sense, Jana's condition is a stand-in for number of problems which might cause a person to lose their sense of self-worth and shut themselves off from the world. If you are suffering from any condition causing you to feel that way, remember this: You Matter. You are loved. And while in real life, recovery will certainly not come as quickly as for Jana in my story, the point illustrated still stands: Some battles are not meant to be fought alone. Sometimes all you need is to find someone who will help you carrying your burden. Remember, that leaning on your friends in hard times isn't weakness. On the contrary, knowing when to ask for help is major strength. And if you do not suffer from any such problems, then please, be mindful of those who do. Be kind, accepting and unconditionally loving as our unnamed protagonist. After all, the protagonist is reffered as You, because they are supposed to represent the best in every single one of us. Man, woman, trans or non-binary, if you're reading this, i hope you will always be as unconditionally accepting as the protagonist is to Jana.
Some elements of the setting sort of come from my own experience. The overall setting of my stories is this usual culturally neutral americano-european mishmash, made for easier accesibility for wider audience, but certain characters or places might carry something from my personal experience. As some of you might know, i am Czech, so i decided to write Jana as one too - even though this might not be really apparent from anything beside her name, that is her intended nationality. Whether you imagine her as local, thinking of this story's setting as somewhere in Czechia or as immigrant to a foreign country of your choice is up to you. Also, the character of Tigran Manukyan is losely based on my own experience: Where i'm from, a lot of pizzerias are actually owned by people from Armenia, Georgia or Turkey and a lot of their owners are very similar to "uncle Tigran" both in their appearance and in their cheerful, friendly way of greeting their customers. Uncle Tigran's character arc is also about acceptance: Accepting own cultural heritage, because every culture is worth preserving.
So, this is the end of my little PSA. Respect each other, be tolerant to one another and try to help those whose life dealt them the worse hand.

2. FBT - opening boxes and settling down
Paring: F!Reader x Wanda
Context: After Wundagore in Multiverse of Madness, Wanda finds what she has been looking for in a small town – more precisely, in you.
Warnings: just comfort
Word Count: 1.8k
Part 1 | Part 2 (this)| Part 3 | Part 4*
Tumblr media
Although Wanda had been in Farmville for the better part of a year when you came in that Saturday, the majority of her clothes, kitchenware and decorations were still in their original moving boxes. Wanda did not plan to take her stuff out of the moving boxes: after so many frustrations moves, she preferred to be prepared to quickly grab her stuff for when she grew tired of town. However, since you came into her life, she saw herself a little less anxious about moving out and the daily things did not bother her that much anymore. And without any plan whatsoever, she surprised herself asking you to help out – even though she could easily do it with her magic, while comfortable laying on her couch sipping a tea.
In your side of the story, helping out Wanda to organize wasn't your favorite Saturday morning activity. Of course, you enjoyed her company and that week you realized how much you missed an adult friendship. However, the truth is that you simply needed the money. Your earnings as a teacher could easily support your single lifestyle; you never had a problem with that. But since adding a couple of twins necessities, the weekly therapy sessions and the need to move to a 2 bedroom house rent to your monthly bills, you were going through your savings on a dangerous speed.
Your brother and sister-in-law not-so-significant heritage were stored by the government until the twins were 16 years old, and the three of you would be starving if you waited for that. Your mom couldn't help regularly, and your sister-in-law family didn't even bother to show up in your brother’s funeral. So it was up to you to make the extra money.
You sold your old car for an old-old-super-old car. You gave up your mortgage and got a rental. You quickly sold and traded any of your extra belongings and now there was nothing left. The therapist helped you with a social fee and the elementary school gathered last year’s books, uniforms and everything that 6 yo could need to study. Your tutoring gave you a few bucks an hour, and the extra grading and online queering allowed a couple more. But it wasn't enough. Going out the academic route wasn't on your agenda, but the payroll Wanda offered could get your family through a week and you weren't going to pass that.
"Good morning, Ms. Maximoff" You said embarrassed.
"Good Lord, Y/N. Wanda." She said giving you a peck on the cheek like you were friends. "Come on in; leave your stuff on the counter. I just started on the kitchen" Wanda wore a set of sweatpants and white T-shirt with her hair up in a messy ponytail. She was a beautiful women, definitely the type you used to date - not that you were even remotely available to do anything about it in the crazy pace your life was going.
The morning passed by fast. Your company was even more enjoyable than Wanda thought, you held a light mood and you were becoming increasing more comfortable around each other. As you held the stairs for Wanda to clean an open cabinet, or you carried together a large and heavy box - you found yourself enjoying the domestic environment around her. It was pass noon when Wanda ordered a pizza and a couple of beers for you to take a break.
"Not that I am complaining... But aren't you, like, super strong?" You asked while taking a bite.
"Kind of" She dismissed getting both of you another beer "Why?"
"With all due respect, oh-miss-magical-fingers... Why the hell did we tore our back with the heavy lifting if you could do it with your pinky?" You looked at her confused both of your chuckling.
"Magical fingers?" she smirked and handled your beer. "Are you going to believe me if I tell you I forgot about it?"
"No" You smiled “But it is ok, I was just wondering why you needed my help in the first place."
"I didn’t. I like your company, Y/N. And it would feel lonely to settle down alone again." She looked into your eyes and gave a small smile "And I don't feel like being alone again"
"I know what you mean" You didn't. As much as you liked Wanda's company and her proximity made you feel all mushy and somewhat stupid; you didn't see Wanda in a romantic way. She, in the other hand, felt you cozy and warm, easy to talk to, easy smile and she was interested in a very non-platonic way.
"Sure thing" She laughed and followed you into the room.
"You don't. Yet" Her eyes quickly darted to your mouth and you instinctively licked your bottom lip flustering with the attention.
"Shall we go to the bedroom?" She lifted her brows mocking you "To organize!" you added embarrassed.
The bedroom was bigger than you expected from a 3-bedroom house. She had an on-suite and a walk-in closet - almost empty apart from couple row of clothes. You started organizing her bathroom, taking mental notes on her products, scents and a special crimson lipstick that had your dreaming about it a few weeks ago. Her skincare routine was neatly displayed on the counter, her extra towels folded under the sink and all her hair products on a basket as she instructed. There was just one box left behind and you opened it without a second thought the same way you had done with so many on that day.
But oh damn. That box was different.
You groaned low at the sight of it, your mouth watering as your mind wandered to where-how-when Wanda would use all of that.
Wanda was in her closet when she heard you and smiled to herself. She planted the box in there this morning, hoping that you would find it. Your thoughts weren't exactly innocent while sneaking a peek at the toys Wanda kept neatly organized in that box. Many sizes, shapes, different uses, intensities, a whole other world from your small bag back home. You were building a special mental image of Wanda wearing the big black strap you held when she called out your name to help. You almost let it fall as you quickly shut the box and placed it back on the cabinet.
“Thank you, sweetie.” She praised you, your cheeks burning due to the pet name.  “Do you know how to drill a hole in the wall?” She asked when you were almost over.
Once you got into the closet, Wanda was up the ladder, her ass pin up right on you eye level. She was reading your thoughts constantly since she heard your gasp, and the praise to her ass was exactly why she called you using a heavy box as excuse.
You offered politely to grab it for her, once again forgetting about how silly it all was considering she could magically get it down. As you got up in the ladder, Wanda's hands found your thigh in what seemed to be an innocent act. The proximity and the heat of her hand took a small whimper out of you, to the satisfaction of a greedy Wanda.
“Uhum. Do you want me to hang something?” You asked distracted while sorting some Knick and knacks into a smaller box
“Not hang. I just need a couple of wall mounts over there” She pointed towards her headboard hiding a mischievous grin “But I am afraid of the screwdriver” That was a lie. Wanda knew her way around a toolbox, as she often were on her own since her teen years.
“Why would someone need wall mounts near the bed?” You asked innocently while preparing the drill
She smirked “I can rope a couple of reasons” Your cheeks reddened immediately as you caught up with her meaning.
“Oh” you coughed out your embarrassment and focused on the task, your mind travelling a million directions.
All throughout the rest of the day, Wanda collected small touches and teases, observing your reactions and how your thoughts frequently traveled back to the toy-box.
….
In the days that followed that weekend, you two became close. You stopped by the teachers’ lounge more often, went out together to grab coffee and Wanda got used on waiting by your classroom door to escort you back to your car. Wanda quickly became an essential part of you daily life.
- What?
You and Wanda have been talking over coffee for a few minutes already when she suddenly tensed over something you said.
"What ‘what’?"
"What did you say your kids name were?"
"They are named Anthony and Thomas, you know that already" You frowned
"Yes, yes. Sorry. I was under the impression you said Billy and Tommy" She chuckled relaxing.
"Oh, I did. Sorry." You smiled fondly "Anthony's nickname is Billy, after his father. He always has been little Billy because they look so much alike. But after his passing, Billy just doesn't accept being called Anthony anymore" you said sadly.
When you got no response from Wanda, you lifted your gaze finding a conflicted Wanda staring down at her mug.
"Wands?"
"Sorry. I-I have to go" She said storming off.
The thing is that when you told her your kids name were Anthony and Thomas, she thought nothing of it. You have never showed her even a photo of them - keeping their privacy on social media and personal relations due to the abuse they suffered last year. So she has never seen them, and honestly, it never crossed her mind. But today, after she heard you calling them Billy and Tommy, some piece snapped back into place and she finally realized the answer to what had been bothering her for so long since the Darkhold.
Wanda didn’t mean to upset you or your kids. Of course she knew about both of them, as you talked a lot about them.
You two had become closer the last few weeks and Wanda found herself specially drawn to you difficult but ordinary life. She wanted to know everything about you and she finally started to open herself to another person. Wanda knew it was stupid of her letting you get so close, she knew she could not ever be deserving of love again- she had it once and she blew it. Her self-vexing was more than enough to keep her from making any advances towards you, but the reality is that you were the first thing she thought about before sleep and the first thing in the morning. She was falling for you in the last few weeks. Not that you knew anything about it.
And no. That wouldn't do.

A deal is a deal
Part 4
Tumblr media
We sat down for our meal and looked around the menu for a few minutes. "Is ok if I get the burger and fries" Graces asks. "You can get anything you want sweetie, it's fine" I laughed. when the waiter came over I looked over to Grace and told her to go ahead and order. "Can I get the cheese burger and some fries please, and a lemonade to drink please." the waiter says yes and wrights it all down and turns to me but then Grace Blurts out "And a chocolate shake too... Please" I laughed, "would you like anything else hun?" Grace blushed and shook her head no. I order a burger and fries as well and the waiter left. "Don't be shy Gracie you can have what every you want to eat it's fine." I tell her and she perks up. We get back in to small talk and she tells me about the kids she nanny's for, There are 4 of them.
Tumblr media
Michelle is the youngest baby, She's just about a year old right now. Next was Catherine, or Kit Kat as they call her. She just turned 2 in February. The last 2 are twins Lisa and Sarah, They are 3 right now and are trying pull ups for potty training but it's going slow. There mother Miss Rae is a stay at home mother but does so work online for extra money. selling clothes and things she makes on Etsy and Amazon. Grace helps give her some time to rest and get work done with the kids around and helps keep the house clean too. The more she talked about everything the more interested I got. my passion for children is what drove me to study early childhood development and Psychology. I want to work with kids and watch them grow. someday I hope to have a family like that of my own.
We finished the meal we were having and we're about ready to go and then Grace looked up "I need to use the bathroom really fast and I need my clothes from the car so I can change, I can't work like this it wouldn't be appropriate." "Ok sweetie, well why don't you go to the bathroom and I'll go get your clothes and meet you back there?" I suggested. She was dancing in her sit by this point so she shook her head yes and ran to the bathroom in the back. I went up and paid the bill and then walked out to the car and grabbed the clothes she had in the diaper bag earlier. It was a pair of jeans a t shirt and a sports bra. I tucked them on a small back and then looked back again and grabbed the new paw patrol panties I had got her and loaded them in there too. I made my way to the bathroom and knocked on the single use door waiting for her to open the door. after a moment she opened the door a little and stuck her hand out, I gently pushed the door and little and she let it open and I walked in and closed the door behind me. "Girls share a bathroom all the time, No big deal" I tell her. I handed her the bag and told her to go ahead and change while I wash my hands from lunch. She set the bag down on a fold down changing table on the wall and switch her top and bra first, The she took of her skirt and put it in there and grabbed the jeans out. As she was about to step in to them I turned and looked at her. "No No. panties too" I called to her. She stopped and looked confused. "You should be wearing that tiny G string went your with the kids, you said it yourself you need to dress more appropriate for work. Those little sluty panties you have on are not it. Change them" I said with a parent tone. With out any hesitation she put the jeans down and took of her panties, she dug in the bag to find the other ones I put in there for a moment. I walked over to her and patted her naked bottom and looked in the bag. "I reached in and found them buried by her old clothes and pulled out the panties. she slid the cute little ones up her body and even posed for me with a laugh. Then I handed her the jeans and she put those on too. we finished up and walked back to the car.
Tumblr media
She gave me directions to the house and we drove over. It was a very nice neighborhooh, with very large houses. She should me which one was the house and we pulled up. when we pulled up we saw Miss Rae out front watering the plants and she wave at us. Grace got out and walked to the back of the car and I put the car in park and joined her to help get the bags sorted out. We each grabbed some bags for the house and I told Grace I would help her carry them up to the door. She didn't seem to.mind that so we walked up and said Hi to Miss Rae as we went in. She was just finishing watering the plants and followed us inside. "Hello Grace, who's your friend here" Mis Rae asking very politey. " Good evening Miss Rae, This is Tiffany. She is my... um". I see her unsure what to say so interject "I'm her sorority sister, We are called big sisters to the newer members of are sorority." Miss Rae gets a big smile "I love my sorority sister, we still talk all the time and My big sister was my bridesmaid at my wedding. That's so great, and I love your dress too. So lady like." she says. "would you care to stay for a drink or do you need to run? " Miss Rae invites me. Grace looked kind of nervous like I would tell on her or something so I reached over and gave her a hug and said "Grace why do you go check on the children and yes I would be happy to stay for a little while, Thank you." Grace took that chance and ran upstairs to go check on all the kids, Miss Rae pulled out a small pitcher and made up some margaritas in in for us and then we sat down out on the back patio which had a great very to enjoy our drinks.
We sat and talked about all kinds of things. She asked what I was studying and where I was from and I asked what she went to school for and what she did after. It was a very nice conversation. We had a great talk and she invited me to come by anytime I was free if I wanted to. She said she had extended the same offer to Grace to come by and use the amenities any she would like although she rarely took advantage of that, as she laughed. As we were coming to the end of our talk when Grace came over, "I'm sorry to interrupt lady's, Miss Rae I'm to get the kids dinner started in a few minutes. Is there anything you need from me tonight?" "Oh no sweetie, nothing special tonight. Kit Kat has a bit of an upset tummy so make sure she has something easy for dinner. Thank you Grace" Miss Rae tells her. I stand up and tell them both it's time for me to head out. I reach out to shake Miss Rae's hand but she opens her arms for a hug instead. I give her a hug and then give Grace one too. "Gracie, if you need a ride home later call me and I'll come get you ok? have a good night" I gave her a kiss on the cheek and a hug and head to the car. As I pull away I text Kat
Me: Hey I'm heading back to the house, do you want a ride home?
Kat: Ya that would be great. I'm off now but I was looking around at the store before I headed that way.
Me: No problem, I'll swing in and grab you.
I swing by the grocery store and pick Kat up. As she's loading her bags in she notices all the other bags. "Wow you got a lot here today?" she says. I smiled and said "it's not all mine, I took Grace on a bit of a shopping trip today so some of the cloths and groceries are hers" Kat reached over and pulled up one of the pull ups I had in the bag from earlier and laughed and said "I can see that". "God stop being mean" I laughed back. "You know I'm only kidding about it... she was cute though wasn't see" Kat added. I just smiled and closed the truck and got back in. Kat and I headed home and unloaded everything. I put all the main groceries away in the kitchen and some snack in my room. Then I took the clothes and snacks I got for Grace and took them to her room. I hung up and put away the clothes I got her and put the snacks she got with the others she already had. Then I took the bag of pull ups I had set aside. I took a few out of the bag and tucked the bag in her closet. I'll just let her know there are extras for her to refill the bag with if she needs to when she's not at Miss Rae's house. I took the extras I pulled out back to my room and tucked them away, Just Incase.
Tumblr media
once I was done with that I went to Kats room to talk to her. "So when we were out today I talked to Gracie more. She reminded me that her big sister from pleag last year was Lori, and now that Lori is gone she doesn't have one." Kat stopped and looked at me "Ok, that happens all the time. your only required to have a big sister your first year?" she says. "Ya I know it does, but I also lost my little sister when Jessica dropped out last semester.." I continued. "Oh God... you wanna adopt her don't you? Kat smirked. "Shut up" I said. "She needs some support and it would work well. I mean I could... No WE could help make a difference for her?" I added. "God you do and you are dragging me in to? You know you can't save everyone, right? " she laughed. I gave her a knowing look but when she looked back in my eye she knew... "Ok, Ok. I'll support it. we have to get Flora to be ok with it too so we need to meet with her." Kat says in a more serious tone. "Well that's not all" I added. "I'm going to share a room with her." Kat dropped her head in to her hands, from beneath her hands I heard her say "You no big sister and little sister don't have to, or even normally share rooms" "Ya I know but she wants to and we'll so do I." I say with confidence. "I'll get Flora and the other to be ok with it." Kat shacks her head at me and finished the talk by says "Fine, you know I'm with you for anything, now be with me. I'm hungry let's go to the kitchen" we both head down stairs. On the way down stairs I sent a text to Flora asking if I can meet with her tomorrow. She replied quickly and said Yes we can and that she wanted to talk with me about a few things too.

thanks for the tag @lelephantsnail. I feel honored; this is my first one of these!
NAME: it's not Gillian, but you can call me that if you want :-)
I will say that my real name reached it's peak of popularity as a baby name in the 1960s, which was several decades before I was born.
SIGN: one of the signs that's an animal. I feel that's vague enough to be non-identifying :-) I don't really follow astrology, but from what I do know I don't particularly fit the characteristics of my sign
HEIGHT: a little under 5'5. (I feel like a little kid "i am 6 and three quarters years old", but for some reason that extra 3/4 of an inch is important to me)
TIME: started this at 11:30 pm, don't know when I'll finish.
BIRTHDAY: i tend to treat it like a special day and am generally Aware that it's my birthday while it's happening. i don't particularly like a big celebration, but for many years I've had a tradition of taking a dance class on the day, no matter where I was (did this on a trip to London once!)
FAVOURITE ARTIST/BAND: oh god, this question always feels scary to me for some reason. I think I return to my adolescent self and worry about having the right, cool answer. I'm also terrible at picking favorites in general. I love a wide variety of music and admire musicians, but I don't tend to closely follow bands or artists.
LAST MOVIE: I've been watching tons of tv shows/drama series and very few movies. According to Netflix, the last movie I watched on there was Hail, Caesar! many months ago, which I watched with my dad. It was entertaining and silly, and felt more like a collection of vignettes rather than a movie with a plot.
Oh! I recently watched Lan Yu (藍宇), a 2001 openly queer Chinese movie, set in mainland China but made in Hong Kong. I found out about it through Tumblr user @/rongzhi who hosted a viewing party on discord. I recommend it, it's beautiful and sad, in the style of Wong Kar-wai. It's unfortunately really hard to find, the only online version I could dig up is one on youtube titled "new slime video again! totally not lan yu (藍宇) made in 2001." Hopefully it stays there, it's low resolution but good enough to be worth watching.
LAST SHOW: Last show I completed was The Devil Judge. I'm watching War of Y and The Eclipse as they come out (unusual for me, I'm almost always a binger). I've started a bunch, and currently have tabs with Vincenzo and Lovely Writer open but I keep getting distracted so I'm not really watching either.
WHEN I CREATED THIS BLOG: Around the beginning of the pandemic, maybe summer 2020? I joined tumblr to follow a hockey romance writer (Taylor Fitzpatrick) and then started following various others, mostly fanfic writers, as a lurker. I didn't start posting until a month ago (July 21, 2022), inspired by KinnPorsche and then other BL shows I got into.
WHAT I POST: So far it's been mostly reactions to and analysis of BL and BL-adjacent shows. And occasionally videos of dancers (ballet & tango so far). But I have ADHD, so who knows what the future holds.
OTHER BLOGS: I started a sideblog @iamthinkingaboutvariousthings to use as a storage container for reblogging posts I want to keep track of but not overwhelm my timeline with. At the moment its all The Devil Judge meta.
DO I GET ASKS: I've only had a few so far, but I got so excited! I would love asks.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: so erratic (see ADHD), but I probably need about 9?
WHAT I'M WEARING: dark blue sweatpants, a light blue t-shirt, and glasses
DREAM JOB: This is an emotionally fraught question right now, so I'm gonna skip it :-)
DREAM TRIP: ooh boy. I've been fortunate to travel a lot with my family (my grandmother loved to travel and would take us all over the world). I'd love to travel more on my own, I haven't done that much. I can't pick a place though, the world is too big and amazing!
I went to England with my mom and did most of the planning myself, so that was a past dream trip. We got to see Stonehenge up close, which was amazing! (Unsolicited advice: it's worth paying for a special after hours tour that gives you the history and lets you actually enter the circle. From the public path it looks kinda blah, but from afar and from inside its quite magical.)
FAVOURITE SONGS (and quotes from them, just for some spice): it's stressing me out to think about it (see previous music question) and this is for fun, so I'm going to skip it too.
I don't know if y'all like ask games, but I'll tag @heretherebedork @absolutebl @markswifesblog @moonchildridden @negrowhat @little-arcadia @technitango @thedeviljudges @bitletsanddrabbles and @veemark. No pressure to respond! And if anyone else wants to play, consider yourself tagged!

Tips for Designing Custom T-Shirts
Creating a standout custom t-shirt requires a blend of creativity and practical considerations. Here are some tips to help you design the perfect t-shirt:
1. Keep It Simple
While intricate designs can be impressive, simplicity often works best, especially for small prints. A clear, bold design is more likely to be noticed and remembered.
2. Consider Your Audience
Think about who will be wearing the t-shirt. Choose colors, fonts, and graphics that appeal to your target audience, whether it's a corporate team or a group of friends.
3. Use High-Resolution Images
For the best print quality, ensure that your images are high-resolution. Low-quality images can result in blurry or pixelated prints.
4. Balance Text and Graphics
If your design includes both text and graphics, make sure they complement each other. The text should be readable, and the graphics should not overshadow the message.
5. Proofread Your Text
Double-check all text for spelling and grammar errors. A small mistake can detract from the professionalism of your custom t-shirt.

Read more at
Tumblr media
Introduction
Black Friday marks the official start of the holiday shopping season with a frenzy of sales, both online and in-store. This day-after-Thanksgiving event is known for drawing massive crowds as eager shoppers seek the best deals. Traditionally, retailers offer significant discounts on a wide range of products, from electronics and home appliances to toys and clothing. However, not all discounts are created equal, and being strategic about what you buy can maximize your savings. Let's navigate through the types of products you can expect to find on sale during this consumer extravaganza to help you make the most of your Black Friday shopping experience.
Product Categories on Black Friday
Black Friday sales encompass virtually every category you can think of, but there are certain types of products that are perennially popular during this retail bonanza. Here's a breakdown of some of the most common:
1. Electronics
This category reigns supreme on Black Friday, with deep discounts on high-ticket items like:
TVs
Leading the charge are smart TVs with state-of-the-art features. Shoppers can find incredible markdowns on models ranging from small screens to massive home theater set-ups. It's a great time to upgrade your viewing experience.
Laptops and Smartphones
Technology enthusiasts wait for this day to score slick deals on the latest laptops and smartphones. Whether you're in the market for a new Macbook, a laptop for gaming, or a smartphone with an unbeatable plan, Black Friday has got you covered.
2. Home Appliances
Black Friday is the perfect occasion to spruce up your home with new gadgets and essentials:
Kitchen Gadgets
From Instant Pots to air fryers and beyond, kitchen appliances often see their prices chopped significantly. This is your chance to modernize your cooking space and make preparing meals more efficient and enjoyable.
Vacuum Cleaners
Keep your home spick and span with discounted models from popular brands. Robotic vacuums are particularly sought after, promising to make cleaning a breeze.
3. Fashion and Apparel
Looking to revamp your wardrobe? Black Friday delivers deals on:
Clothing
Stock up on basics or splurge on that statement piece you've been eyeing. Popular brands offer discounts on everything from t-shirts to winter coats, allowing you to dress to impress.
Shoes and Accessories
Complete your look with discounted footwear and accessories. Whether it's a pair of trendy boots or a durable everyday backpack, you can find substantial savings on these items.
4. Beauty and Personal Care
Take advantage of the Black Friday sales for self-care and gift-giving:
Skincare
Invest in your skin with markdowns on high-quality skincare products. Whether you're battling dry winter air or looking to upgrade your routine, Black Friday is a prime time for savings.
Makeup Sets

5. Toys and Games
Families and gamers alike anticipate Black Friday for deals on:
Popular Toys
Get the jump on holiday shopping for the little ones with discounts on the year's hottest toys. From action figures to plushies, now’s the time to cross off those wish list items.
Board Games
Pick up new board games for cozy nights in. Classic and contemporary games alike can see significant price reductions, making them a practical and fun purchase.
6. Home Decor and Furniture
Black Friday extends its generosity to help you beautify your living spaces with:
Bedding and Linens
Upgrade your bedroom with fresh linens or a comfy new duvet. Quality bedding can be quite the investment, so taking advantage of Black Friday sales can lead to substantial savings.
Furniture Pieces
Whether you're looking for a new couch for the living room or a statement piece for the hallway, expect Black Friday sales to feature significant discounts on furniture. This is an excellent opportunity to upgrade your home's comfort and style.
Shopping Tips for Online Shoppers
With online shopping becoming increasingly popular, here are some tips to make your Black Friday experience a breeze:
Research Beforehand
Start scouting for the items you want ahead of time. Make lists and check them against the deals you come across. Many retailers release previews of their Black Friday sales, giving you a head start.
Compare Prices
Before making a purchase, compare prices from multiple sources. Just because something is marked as a Black Friday deal doesn't mean it's the lowest price you can get.
Set a Budget
It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of discounts, but it’s important to set a budget and stick to it. Prioritize your purchases and ensure you're getting the items you need at the best price.
Conclusion

Kids Fashion Trends 2023: Where Imagination Meets Style
Tumblr media
The world of kids' fashion is ever-evolving, and 2023 is no exception. As the new year unfolds, parents, guardians, and fashion-forward kids alike are eagerly embracing a slew of exciting trends that blend comfort, creativity, and style. From vibrant colours to sustainable choices, the kids' fashion scene is alive with innovative designs that allow young minds to shine. Let's dive into the captivating world of kids' fashion trends for 2023.
1. Sustainability Takes Center Stage: In an era where environmental awareness is at an all-time high, sustainable fashion is a cornerstone of the kids' fashion landscape. Parents are increasingly seeking out brands that prioritize eco-friendly materials and ethical production practices. From organic cotton to recycled fabrics, clothing lines are focusing on minimizing their ecological footprint, ensuring a healthier planet for future generations.
2. Gender-Neutral Expressions: 2023 is witnessing a growing shift towards gender-neutral fashion for kids. Designers are moving beyond traditional pink and blue color schemes, opting for versatile hues and silhouettes that encourage self-expression. This trend not only fosters inclusivity but also gives kids the freedom to explore their own sense of style without being confined by traditional gender norms.
3. Athleisure Evolution: Comfort is no longer at odds with style, and athleisure continues to dominate kids' fashion. This year, however, athleisure is taking a creative twist. Think joggers with bold prints, sporty dresses paired with sneakers, and athleisure-inspired jumpsuits. This trend embodies a dynamic blend of active wear and high fashion, providing kids with clothing that's both comfortable and trendy.
4. Nostalgic Revival: Nostalgia is making a comeback in kids' fashion. Parents are reliving their own childhood memories through their kids' wardrobes. Classic cartoon characters, retro patterns, and vintage-inspired accessories are finding their way back into closets. This trend adds a touch of whimsy to children's fashion, reminding us all that fashion is a timeless form of self-expression.
5. Digital-Ready Styles: In the age of virtual interactions and online classrooms, digital-ready styles are gaining traction. From fun, expressive tops for video calls to comfortable bottoms designed for extended screen time, this trend focuses on blending comfort and presentability for the digital age. Reflective of the times, digital-ready styles allow kids to look great both on and off-screen.
6. Mini-Me Matching: The 'mini-me' trend, where parents and kids dress in coordinating outfits, is still going strong in 2023. Brands are offering matching sets for both children and adults, encouraging playful bonding experiences between generations. Whether it's matching t-shirts, jumpsuits, or accessories, the mini-me trend is a heartwarming celebration of familial connection.
7. Artistic and Expressive Prints: Bold and imaginative prints are capturing the essence of childhood in 2023. From hand-drawn illustrations to abstract designs, artistic prints are adorning everything from dresses to t-shirts. These prints allow kids to showcase their individuality and creativity through their clothing choices.
Conclusion: The world of kids' fashion in 2023 is a dynamic blend of sustainability, self-expression, and comfort. With gender-neutral options, sustainable materials, and creative designs, this year's trends celebrate the uniqueness of every child while embracing the values of the modern world. As parents and guardians continue to prioritize style and substance, kids have the opportunity to explore, experiment, and enjoy the exciting world of fashion in their own distinctive ways.

36 hours in Houston
October 12, 13, and 14, 2022
Dad had wanted to take the family to a Mariners playoff game for about ten years or so. So, when the Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays the week before, Mom and I set everything up (courtesy of Dad) for the four of us, plus Ingvar and Malik, to head to Houston!
On Wednesday afternoon, Ingvar and I drove down to Camano Island to meet Mom and Dad. Then the four of us drove down to Ballard to pick up Malik. Haley was in LA, but Malik was in Seattle, so Haley was going to meet us in Houston. We parked the car at Master Park, then took their shuttle to the airport. All five of us went through security. We all went into one of the lounges and had some snacks and Ingvar and I each had a drink.
Our flight to Houston was direct, but a red eye. We left Seattle around 11pm. We all tried to sleep on the around four hour flight, but none of us were well rested. We arrived in Houston around 6am, with Haley arriving around 6:30. We ordered an XL Uber and made our way to the garage for pickup. We had a driver come, with one less seat than we had requested, which was strange. I sat in the back back with all the luggage, with Dad in the front seat, and the other four in the middle. Our driver was pretty aggressive and jumpy, so I did begin to feel a bit anxious. The drive was about 45 minutes to our hotel.
Mom had booked us two rooms at a Marriott in Houston. Juanita works for Marriott and gave Mom her friends and family discount, which was awesome! We arrived at the hotel around 8 am, on Thursday. Mom and Dad had a room, and next door, the four of us kids had a room with two queen beds. Thankfully, the hotel let us check in super early. We were all so pooped! We all grabbed some buffet breakfast and coffee in the lobby, then headed into our rooms. We had some breakfast, then took a few hours nap/rest. That was crucial for the rest of the day!
Around noon, we freshened up and got ready to watch the Mariner’s play the Astros in game two of the first round of the World Series. We were all so excited! It was really cool to see a dream of Dad’s coming true. We all dressed in our Mariner’s jerseys (Dad had bought the boys some and rush shipped them, how nice is that?!). We called an XL Uber and headed into the stadium!
We were some of the only Mariners fans out there, but there were some others! We took some photos outside of the stadium, checked out the team store and bought Dad a t-shirt, some of us grabbed some (expensive) beers, and then we found our seats. They were between right and center field and had a good view! We were seated around some other Mariners fans, which was really cool! But, of course we were in the minority of fans. Before the game started, Juanita and her sun Noah, joined us to watch the game! Mom was in Texas the last week, so this was an extra time to see her, which is lucky!
The game was a really great game! Sadly, the Mariners lost, making the series Astros 2, Mariners 0. The final score was 4-2. It was a good and close game though! We really enjoyed being there! Some of us got up a few times to get drinks and food for everyone, and once an Astro fan was rude to us about it! Ugh, people. That same woman told us to “fuck off” after the Astros won, which was so rude! She was drunk. A lot of Astros fans around her have us sympathetic looks, like they were ashamed of an Astro fan for being so horrible. While we were all leaving the stadium, she actually said something really rude to Mom. Malik started to get heated and stood up for Mom. I just can’t believe people sometimes!
All eight of us walked to Juanita and Noah’s hotel, a few blocks away. They took us up to the rooftop and showed us a great view of the city! We spent some time taking photos, then the six of us took an Uber back to our hotel. We all changed into some different clothes, then took another Uber to meet Juanita and Noah at a nice restaurant. We had looked around online earlier in the day and made a reservation at a place called Ruggles Black.
The eight of us had a great dinner! We sat outside and chatted about the great game and time we had. We shared a reallllly yummy brie and charcuterie board, then I had a lamb burger with sweet potato fries. We also shared some dessert!
After dinner, Juanita and Noah took their own ride to their hotel, while the six of us took an XL to ours. We got back to the rooms around 11–it had been a long and amazing day! We were all really tired, so Mom and Dad went to bed in their room, and so did we. Haley and I watched a bit of FoodNetwork before falling asleep, then we all slept well!
Haley and I went down to breakfast with Mom and Dad around 8:30 on Friday morning. Ingvar and Malik both wanted to keep sleeping, so Haley and I brought them up some plates when we were done. Uncle Mike was coming to visit! He lives in Austin and drove down to Houston to visit with us. I hadn’t seen Uncle Mike or any of the cousins since I watched Nick graduated from the Air Force in 2015. For Haley and Dad, they hadn’t seen him in much longer! But, Mom had seen him the week before when she was in Texas visiting Juanita. Uncle Mike met us in the hotel when we were all finishing getting ready, and packing up the room. It was really nice to see him!
We all checked out of our rooms, and left our luggage at the hotel. Uncle Mike wanted to take us all to lunch, and Haley found a BBQ place not too far away. We all walked, as it wasn’t too hot yet (well it was really hot for us, but not for Uncle Mike). The BBQ place was actually really tasty—even Uncle Mike was surprised and impressed, since we had just chosen a random place. Uncle Mike bought our whole meal—thanks Uncle Mike! Ingvar and I shared a BBQ plate of macaroni and cheese, baked beans, and some pork. It was really tasty, but I’m also glad Ingvar and I shared! Juanita and Noah showed up, to say goodbye to us all, hello to Uncle Mike, and give us some hugs and cupcakes for our flight. It was nice to see them again! It was Malik and Ingvar’s first time meeting Uncle Mike, so it was nice to all sit down and share a meal together.
After lunch, we walked around the area for a bit, but it was very boring and industrial, so there wasn’t much to do. We actually walked past our hotel on accident, and then had to scurry a bit to make it back in time, to leave for our flight. All was well, though! We got some photos and said goodbye to Uncle Mike, then the six of us took an Uber to the airport. Haley’s flight was before ours to Seattle, so after security, we all walked her to her gate. We hung out together until it was time for her to board, then said our goodbyes. Malik was flying back to Seattle with us, to spend some more time with his mom. The five of us then traveled to our gate and then eventually boarded our direct to Seattle. Mom and Dad sat behind Ingvar, Malik, and I (I was in the middle). We napped a bit, listened to music, and watched some stuff on our phones, and I blogged a bit.
Once we landed in Seattle, we all got picked up by Masterpark, then Mom drive us northbound. We ended up getting Dick’s because we were all hungry, in north Seattle. Malik’s mom met us there and picked up Malik, which was nice of her! It was nice to get some burgers and shakes, then Mom continued the drive up to Camano Island. Ingvar and I were eager to get back to Bellingham, as we both worked the next day, since this was such a last minute trip. We thanked Mom and Dad for the amazing trip to support the Mariners, then drove home. What a great trip! It was so special for the boys to also go on their first family vacation with us! :]
