Before the invasion
..
_[Name] was adopted into the Hamato clan when they were discovered by the brothers venturing the sewers one day and finding out that they live on their own with no other family. (early season 1) and is around the same age as the youngest turtle Mikey.
_ you lived with them for a while and accepted them as family. You never had one before, but it was something you could get used to. Being as impressionable as you were, you rarely went against their word before. Their affectionate behavior towards you was strange at first, but that's how families were, weren't they?
_Sometimes, you would voice your concerns about their choices to 'keep you safe'. Slight protests insisting you can take care of yourself just fine, then eventually get shut down by either Donnie or Raph.
_You loved your brothers! And you know they loved you too! They were a little overprotective, sure, but they were just a little worried about you, right?
_Things would get pretty bad with them after the fight with shredder. Despite nothing happening to you, the turtles REALLY acted as if you were so fragile you could shatter right in front of them. which most certainly was preposterous. [Name] was perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. They wouldn't have survived their first few years of life if that wasn't the case.
_After finding a new lair, they had even set some new rules to "keep you away from the people that could hurt you." Examples would be:
1. you wanted to go outside the lair? You have to have at least two of the turtles to go with you. What if something or someone popped up? You'll have double the protection.
               And
2. You can't go on missions with them at all anymore, even if all they really let you do is watch from the side lines.
Of course you fought this decision, how could they make this decision for you? It was really the first time you spoke your mind in front of all of them, and loudly at that, it definitely led to an argument that ended with you threatening to leave the lair and go solo again.
They very much didn't like that one bit.
They locked you in your room and didn't let you out for months, only giving you food and water when you needed it.
_____________
Attempting to sneak out by yourself? Leo always caught you. He would be nice about it (at least on the surface) before trapping you in his portal dimension for long amounts of time, hours, and days? It happened often, and it was long enough for you to start hating the color blue.
Leo would talk himself and you out of bonding with family so he could spend more time with you, watching movies and cuddling with you, if that didn't work with his brothers getting upset with him, he would kidnap you until he was done with what you liked to call, throwing a tantrum.
_____
Raph was what you would have described as a worry wart. Now, it's overbearing. when you weren't sleeping in your room, Raph would beg you to sleep in his room.
Yes. Even if you were fast asleep in the comfort of your own room, he would either
A. Come in and watch you sleep for a minute before waking you up(if the staring didn't already do that) and asking you to come sleep with him because he was worried, according to him: you might get hurt or suffocate face down on a pillow or stuffed animal and never wake up.
B. Come in and watch you sleep for a minute, then plop down next to you with his cover and teddy bear.
Or
C. Gently pick you up so as to not disturb you and take you to his room. You had gotten used to waking up in Raph room when you were very sure you weren't there last night.
____
After getting out of that “prison” dimension with Leo it was very common not only for the twins to fight but also for Donnie to lock you in his lab to keep you away from Leo and the rest of his brothers. Your bonding time mainly consisted of him telling you about his many inventions, and you do something like drawing or playing with his personal bin of fidgets while listening to him and complimenting his work. He absolutely glowed with praise whenever you did that.
This was the side of him you preferred.
The alternative was the violent older brother you not only feared but disliked the most. He was colder when you would ask to leave. He decided when you got to leave. If you said you were hungry, then he would go slightly back to normal, having shelldon get the food or refreshments instead. If you insisted you wanted some space, he still, of course, wouldn't let you leave, telling you to sit by yourself in the far corner in his lab.
When he finally does let you out, it's the next afternoon.
If Leo got alone time with you, then so should he. He would, instead of telling you what he was thinking, he'd say something like, "I'm just keeping you safe from my brother's brutish actions. You should be thanking me. Not acting like a brat. You're safer in here than anywhere out there." While trying to keep his composure. The energy reading off of him was enough to send you into a flight or fight response.
Mikey is… Well… Very devoted to being close to you.
There are some pluses, he buys you gifts, cooks for you and spends time with you.
However, some of the things he would say or do would confuse you to the highest degree, like giving him any sort of praise sends him into some kind of frenzy.
"Wow, Mikey! You really outdone yourself this time! This is so good!" As you finished your plate, he stumbled over his words to thank you, throwing in nicknames like divinity or angel.
To him, you were just so perfect and sweet, Any sort of praise from you was heaven sent!
He took your words to heart more than he took the others. If you gave him a gift, he would go absolutely apeshit while at the same time trying to control himself in front of you. This physically manifested into him physically vibrating, which freaked you the hell out.
He would shower you with gifts tenfold not too long later. He loves spending time with you and would have you ‘help him cook’ just to spend time with him. You didn't mind it, though. Handing him ingredients or utensils was no issue, and he let you taste test his food, beaming at the praise you sent his way.
And this was BEFORE the invasion.

I keep seeing people saying that Raph is the strong one of the group, but that's not true, so I have decided to give them all roles because why not.
!! Spoilers for the movie and the series !!
• Leo is the leader and the strategist
The leader part is really obvious since it's a canon thing, so I'm going to focus on the strategist thing.
As we see many times in both the series and the movies, Leo is a reckless, maybe kind of stupid, person. He tells dumb jokes and annoys people 24/7. He doesn't really seem like a good strategist. Well, if you think that, then you are even more than wrong, my dear not-friend! In both the series and the movie we also see how great of a strategist he is. Sure, the others also had their time to shine and show that they're also pretty smart when it comes to it (except for Donnie, that guy is smart all the time. Not when it comes to emotions tho), but it's honestly clear who the strategist is.
In the first fight against Shredder, we see how he was able to trick Big Mama, who always has another card under her sleeve. And, sure, it turned out that it actually favored her, but it doesn't mean that he didn't do it. Also, that's not the only time we see him outsmarting his enemies. He's cunning and manipulative, and he can easily trick people into doing what he wants. The main problem he deals with is how even if he has a main idea of what to do next, he doesn't always tell it to the others, making them fail a lot (communication issues baby). He's better at working alone, but at the same time he isn't, because he needs his family for his attacks to be effective. I'd talk more about this, but I need space for the others.
• Donnie is the inventor and the brains
That's easy to see, since he's the one who builds their gear, but let me elaborate a bit.
One thing I love about this Donnie is how he's not a pacifist. The other Donnies aren't either, but they're more willing to listen if it means evading a fight (I think there was an ep where someone says “we're not looking for a fight!” and Don answers with “who says we aren't?” or something like that). This Donnie is also kind of reckless (not Leo reckless, but reckless) and jumps onto the battle often without a plan.
The difference between him and the others when it comes to plans, is that while he doesn't have one, it's hard for him to lose the fight because of how smart he is. He calculates his every move, making sure that the person/yokai/mutant he fights with is always someone he can actually fight with (and even if he can't, he always has his tech with him).
One of his most important character traits is how he invents stuff. He always, and by that I mean always has his tech on to support him and his brothers. If it weren't because of this, then there's a huge probability that he and the others would already be dead from even before the series started. His main issue is how he relies on it too much, so when his tech fails, he doesn't really have anything else to defend himself with (unless his family is there with him. Also, the ninpo, but he's already showed his disgust with using mystic stuff many times).
• Raph is the protector
Many people say that Raph is the strong one, but that's not true. Sure, he is strong, but he's not the strongest.
It's a canon fact that Splinter wasn't always for them when the boys were young. He's not really to blame because of that (I mean, with the amount of trauma he has I'm not surprised he didn't always interact with them. I'm not saying it was okay, but he did have it rough, and even then he did his best to be a good father), but he still neglected them. It's also a canon fact that Raph takes over the role of the big brother very seriously. Ever since he was young, he had been protecting his brothers, even if that meant being a little bit too overprotective (Mikey's solo mission). He's always been there with them, taking the hard hits and not letting them get hurt.
One of the biggest examples of this is his sacrifice on the movie. He literally shields Leo with his own body, breaking his she'll (ouch). And when Leo sacrificed himself, we see so many feelings on his face, and he's for sure thinking how he should be the one to be in Leo's place because he's the oldest, he's supposed to protect them.
• Mikey's the strong one (the powerhouse)
Now this is what I wanted to talk about!
When I say strong one, I don't only mean physically, I also mean mentally (and mystically). Mikey's canonically the ‘therapist’ of the group (haha kin), taking over the name of Doctor Feelings to, well, talk to his family about his feelings, helping them accept them, etc. That's a really hard job to do, and it's easy for a person to fall so deep into that ‘I most help them’ mentality that they stop caring about themselves. So yes, you need to be really strong for that.
He's also physically strong as fuck. I mean, the little guy threw a whole building at the Krang, you can't tell me he's weak.
But the thing he's the strongest at is his mystic powers. In the first episode he's the first one to ‘unlock’ his mystic weapon (even if it did hit him in the face. Literally), and in the movie he literally opens a portal to the future and to another dimension. Leo can also open portals, but his portals year through space, not time. He's also “the greatest mystic warrior the world had ever seen”, so yeah, him being the strongest in the whole mystic thing is canon.
I had this in my mind for a looong while and was planning on talking about it but never did it. There are actually so many things I wanted to talk about but never published because I actually wanted to make a fanfic out of them. My friend (shoutout to Mari. Love you girl) told me to share everything as an idea, a concept, instead of a whole story. I love her very much.

Why I find Mikey from Rise of the TMNT relatable as a younger sibling
Greetings snails ;)
I’m a bit late to the party on this one, but I just recently finished Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and very much want to write about it, so here we are. I honestly love all four of the turtle brothers to bits, their brotherly chemistry and chaotic energy are lovely to watch, but one turtle who I feel has gone slightly underappreciated is Mikey. Maybe I just haven’t been searching for it enough in the fandom but I feel as though not much content has been released for his character, so in this post I shall make the tiniest dent to that by analysing his character as the youngest sibling and why I as a younger sibling find him relatable. Okay? Okay.
As basically everyone in the fandom knows: Raph is the eldest brother, Leo and Donnie are the middle disaster twins, and Mikey is the youngest. Being the youngest is possibly what gives Mikey some of his charm, since according to birth order the youngest child tends to be highly sociable, confident, creative and charming - which I feel fits Mikey perfectly since he is the artist and heart of the group. Being the youngest, however, sometimes comes with being coddled by overprotective family members (which I’ll discuss in more detail in a moment), being a risk taker and generally seeing the consequences of actions less effectively than other family members due to never being allowed to fail. These are all traits of Youngest Child Syndrome, which I actually learnt about through a youtube video analysing Mikey’s character (https://youtu.be/LU9cGgcv7gU), which I feel explains this quite well. To me, it seems likely that Mikey has something like Youngest Child Syndrome, and since the show focuses heavily on the relationships between the brothers this becomes crucial to Mikey's characterisation and how he’s treated.
As an example, while his brothers do clearly love Mikey, it is also clear that they tend to underestimate his abilities due to him being the youngest. An episode where this is made the focus is in Hot Soup: The Game, as it revolves around him insisting on doing a solo mission to prove to his brothers that he is capable of being independent. Raph is very against this mission and infantilises Mikey in the process. He tries to stop Mikey going on a solo mission despite Raph having gone on one when he was Mikey’s age, says Mikey won’t be ready for a solo mission in 7-10 years (which would make Mikey 20 years old at least, rip) and literally uses a baby voice to speak to him on multiple occasions. I can understand some of Raph’s concerns since Mikey has shown himself to be impulsive and reckless at times (like most 13-year-olds are), but I still believe Raph is being overprotective here. If Raph was going on solo missions at 13 years old, then there’s no good reason that Mikey shouldn’t go on one too.
I do relate to this problem in my own way, though I’m not sure if it’s due to being the youngest sibling or being assigned female at birth (maybe both). I didn’t go out with friends or walk anywhere without my mum or older brother until I was around Mikey’s age, and even then my mum got very anxious when I even suggested it. This was despite my brother having done all of this when he was my age because it was apparently ‘safer’ for him to do so. I don’t want to get too deeply into the topic of AFAB people having less freedom to go outside for fear of a man hurting them, because that’s a can of worms for another day honestly, but what I’m getting at is that I relate to Mikey’s struggle. It’s incredibly frustrating to be denied freedoms, especially when you’ve seen that another person (especially when that person is your sibling) has been granted them. It’s a good sign when many people can relate to a character even when there are so many differences between them and the character, so I think this illustrates how well written Mikey is, which is why I’m writing about him in the first place :)
Another aspect of Mikey that I can definitely see is the traits of ADHD. The writer of rottmnt Ron Corcillo actually tweeted that he believes Mikey may be 'a little ADD’ (https://twitter.com/RonCorcillo/status/1554280734319206401), and as someone who may have ADHD and is currently going through the process of getting a diagnosis, I can definitely see that in Mikey too. From memory, some traits that come to mind are his impulsivity and risk-taking behaviour, being easily distracted, appearing to be restless, talking a lot and general chaotic energy. If I’m being honest, I feel like most if not all the brothers are neurodivergent in some way, since a good portion of these traits could be applied to any of them. Also, please don’t take what I’ve noted as a conclusive list, this is just from my memory of the show and the clips I’ve watched to jog my memory.  I would like to rewatch the show and note down every aspect of neurodivergency in the turtles I can find, but I’m not going through that much effort for a rant posted to Tumblr, so this is the best you’re getting.
Overall, Mikey is just a sweet, kind, charming, very loveable turtle who I find relatable - probably because we’re both younger sibling artists who probably have ADHD. He makes for a great heart of the group, who balances out characters like Donnie with his logical way of thinking and brings fun, emotional and affectionate moments to the team. I definitely want to look at the other brothers in the future and rant about why they’re amazing too, but that is a blog post for another day :)
Thanks for reading :D

Name: Diana Lea Hamato Birthday: April 2 (22) Parents: Donatello Hamato Occupation:  Genius Built R&D/ Ninja Sexuality: Pansexual Siblings: none / hamato cousins she was created with Abilities: mystic tech formation she can use to control tech around her/ skilled ninja
Details:
Diana Hamato is the only daughter of Donatello Hamato or well, she’s his clone. Donnie had decided at some point that his brother’s bond couldn’t end with them and he’d started researching cloning. He argued that it was because he wanted the Hamato clan to continue in order to keep the balance after they’d defeated Shredder but Diana had heard the story multiple times and had come to the conclusion that her dad was, in fact, soft and he loved his brothers too much. Regardless, Diana was created second after Rey and was very firmly the center of Donnie’s world. There were a lot of complicated feelings that came with being a clone especially in the Hamato family. Personally, Di thought it was fascinating but she did share her intelligence with her father. She had quite a few traits, obviously, with him but she also had her own. She was friendlier, compassionate, and overall, much more optimistic. She understood logic and reasoning but she also knew that things didn’t always need an explanation.
Her dad passed on his heirloom bo staff when Diana was old enough to go on missions with her Uncle Leo. She wasn’t the best ninja compared to her cousins and her uncles. She was clumsy and hesitant when it came to actually hitting someone. The mystic side of it was easy to her, she was able to have a firm control of tech around her and make her very naturally which often left her dad stumped since he’d struggled to get control of that. Donnie was a doting father and there was nothing he wouldn’t give her but he also pushed her hard when it came to training. She’d gotten hurt one too many times because of her self-doubt. She and her father trained in their home dojo everyday and then had dinner together. It was nice to drag her dad away from his inventions. Though, they did spend a lot of time together in the lab when she was working on something too.
Most of her free time was spent gaming. She loved playing video games with her friends, Enzo and Nanami. She did get into streaming and honestly, it destroyed her sleeping schedule. Not that Donnie had ever been a good example to her either. She also enjoyed skateboarding and playing sports with her cousins, another difference from her father who thought sports were ridiculous. Uncle Leo insisted that they have normal lives outside of sneaking on rooftops in the dead of night. He was their sensei, their leader, and their biggest supporter and always made sure they knew to do what was right. Their first solo mission, that they kinda did behind his back, was how they found Casey and brought him home. It seemed like it was meant to be and Casey was part of the Hamato clan in no time. She did spend time with Uncle Mikey harnessing her mystic energy and working on her strength with Uncle Raph. They were all very family oriented but Di spent the most time at the Seara castle training with Aerwyn, playing with Matteo and being Lorena’s emotional support and vice versa. She and Lorena were very close just like their dads. She also visited her Aunt Trix often. She was Di’s hero and she was always happy to see her and gushed to everyone she knew that her Aunt Trix was the best. Diana knows she’s lucky to have great uncles, cousins, and a loving father.
+ warm, friendly, innovative, brave -  impulsive, sarcastic, perfectionist, clumsy
Connections:
Rey, Millie, and Lorena: cousins, fellow clones, team, best friends Aerwyn and Matteo: cousins Casey Jones: adopted brother Enzo McQueen: best friend/fellow gamer Dixie Reyes: close friend Nanami Nakamura: close friend/fellow gamer Rory Utonium: co-worker, friend
fc: hailee steinfeld

WHAT DO I THINK ABOUT THE TMNT SERIES FROM 2003, 2012 & 2018?
Alright.. this is a summary that I will discuss later.
TMNT 2003: The boys were trained to be ninjas from the beginning till the end.
TMNT 2012:. The boys were trained to be ninjas during their childhood. When they were old enough, they spent it on recreating their childhood
TMNT 2018:. Splinter or Lou-jitsu gave them their childhood. He let them become children first before he trained them to be serious on ninja training.
For everyone to understand why, let's go back in the beginning.
Tumblr media
2003 series is probably one of the darkest series I have ever watched in my entire life. It is so dark that I tend to forget they are teenagers sometimes. They only have limited family dynamic. I kinda liked when Donnie addresses Raph as Raphie or when Raph hugged the other dimension Donatello even though he knew that this Donnie is not from their dimension.
Tumblr media
2012 series gave me a 'little' family dynamic. Probably because they are so harsh to Michelangelo. In the Dimension X episode, they treated him so poorly that I wonder if they even treated him as a brother. It's like they are treating him as a liability and not someone who can contribute to the team.
Tumblr media
I kinda liked Donatello here but only the time he lost himself in revenge. That was the time when they were collecting the heart of Shredder.
Tumblr media
Splinter is an ass here by the way even though he is also a bad ass
ROTTMNT gave me everything I wanted. From family dynamic, awesome action scenes, and cute moments with each other.
Tumblr media
This series made me watched it over and over again because each line they say. Each move they make with each other are so family like. Example of it is the way the boys will do anything to have their father's hug. When Mikey was too young to go on a solo mission, Donnie said that whatever Leo says (which is agreeing on having Mikey go on a solo mission). After that, Mikey went to hug Donatello. To those who may not noticed it, Don's claw thingy from his shell patted Mikey on the head. Oh and they also perched on Raph's shell multiple times.
Again this is just my opinion...no hate required 😁

Typing the Turtles (ROTTMNT) Part 1 - Raphael
This started out as an investigation into the turtles’ insecurities, because one thing the show does so well is demonstrate that they are still teenagers. And being a teenager is a confusing experience - there’s angst, drama, exploring one’s identity, a lot of growth, and overall figuring out who you are. That’s a messy process, too! And we see this mess in our turtles: they mess up, they’re learning, they self-doubt, they have fears and insecurities, but they’re also discovering their strengths and how to overcome their inner obstacles.
So after thinking about all this way too long, here’s my psychological breakdown of each turtle (I’ll be referencing MBTI and the Enneagram, but will include links for more general information on those if you don’t know what I’m talking about).
Raph: ISFJ, 6w5
The Defender, The Loyalist, The Big Brother, did I mention The Defender?
Raph is always helping out the little guy, whether that little guy is Mikey, Donnie, Leo, April or someone else. In the first episode, Mystic Mayhem, Raph is the one who notices poor Mayhem alone and scared, and suggests they should help him. He just met the little furball, and even after Mayhem attacks his face he’s still ready to fight some dog-jogger Yokai to protect him. He’s there when April’s school is attacked by Hypno (Hypno! Part Deux) and when she just needs her fan fixed (Repairin’ the Baron). He’s also there for a myriad of underdogs, such as Guy Flambe (Pizza Puffs). Interestingly enough, that episode also indicates that Raph has taken to moonlighting as the hero Red Angel of Preventing Harm.
Tumblr media
Raph at his Worst: What is Raph afraid of? Beyond Mrs. Cuddles. Raph is afraid of being alone. But he also feels strongly empathetic when others are alone: Mikey on a solo mission in Hot Soup: The Game, Mayhem in the pilot, Frankenfoot when he runs away.  But why?
If we look through the lens of the Enneagram, Raph wants security and support. The system/structure he is most committed to is their inner circle of family/friends. So nothing must happen to those he loves!
Raph has also demonstrated Worst-Case Scenario thinking when he’s stressed. Alone for 5 minutes in Man vs Sewer? Expect the worst. In Nothing but Truffles, Mikey even flashes back to a Raph lecture about what to do in the event of a: shark attack, vampire attack, werewolf attack, and puppy attack.
That said, when someone does hurt someone he loves, or sufficiently threatens/scares him and/or his support system, all his disaster-planning goes out the window in an effort to SMASH IT LIKE A BOSS! (Counterphobic 6).
Tumblr media
He puts a lot of pressure on himself, but it’s not really about failing in big moments (as Leo describes it in Mystic Mayhem and Down with the Sickness, but that says more about Leo than Raph), but more about letting the others down. He needs to open the gateway to the Mystic City or else they’ll lose April forever. He needs to think of something to ask for in the Must Say Yes stage that will please all his brothers and not leave anyone out. And, in Insane in the Mama Train, Raph is the one most affected when Splinter says he’s disappointed. The others were willing to brush it off and apologize, but Raph is aware that they let Splinter down. It’s something worse, and he feels that hurt, deeply.
Raph is also sensitive enough that he sometimes takes things too personally. When Mikey and Donnie have a good idea in One Man’s Junk, he internalizes it as ‘Raph never has a good idea’. Mikey sorts that out the best: “We’re not saying you don’t have good ideas, Raph. We’re just saying we do, too.” It seems to snap him out of self-deprecating funk.
Average Raph: Raph wants to protect those he loves from physical threats, but also emotional ones. That’s why he’s so bad at handling interpersonal conflict. He can’t yell at Donnie in Donnie’s Gifts. He can’t yell at (Mike? Lou? Tony?) in the Pizza Pit because “it’ll destroy him”. He’s super conflict-averse when it comes to those he cares about. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings (ISFJ). Mostly this is a kind, caring, compassionate trait, but sometimes the situation needs Dr. Delicate Touch.
Tumblr media
He’s the supportive friend and brother. He’s always ready to help out, whether it’s fixing April’s fan (Repairin’ the Baron), rescuing Guy Flambe from Meatsweats (Pizza Puffs) or saving Mayhem from the mirror. He’s encouraging… but sometimes to the point of enabling. In Pizza Puffs he recognizes this the most and literally wrestles with himself over trying to let his brothers fix problems on their own without him there to protect them. Sometimes he can’t help but support his friends even when he doesn’t want to: when he’s volun-told by Mikey to help warm Draxum up to humans, he doesn’t ditch, and when April invokes the Birthday Card to help Warren Stone he honors it. He can be dedicated and loyal to a fault.
He can be a little short-sighted, at times. His team-building exercise in Stuck On You was meant to be a positive, brotherly, bonding experience, but suffered from serious drawbacks. His tenacity in smashing foes is admirable, but doesn’t always get the best results, something Donnie tries to get him to see and think through. But they’re also what makes him a force to be reckoned with. You do NOT mess with Raph’s inner circle and expect NOT to get smashed, hoss! And the fact that his brothers know that he has their backs like this is probably its own form of support and security.
Raph at his Best: He believes in the Mad Dogs the most, that they can be and are heroes. “We’re do-gooders! And what do do-gooders do? They do good! And they do good well.” (The Mutant Menace) His compassion and commitment to protecting the underdog keep the others on track and in line with their goals. He is the rock in the middle of the chaos.
Raph actually has good practical skills: he has the mission calendar that only he seems to consistently stick to, and clearly enough self-discipline to responsibly and reliably sleep with his retainer on every night (Flushed, But Not Forgotten)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also has the most grounded sense of duty. When they’re watching the skateboarding livestream in Gilbert’s Department store in The Longest Fight, Raph is the one who first investigates what sounds like a robbery, and is the one who cajoles his brothers into fighting the Foot. It’s a ‘look, guys, we have to do the right thing here and prevent them from stealing!’ moment. Pizza Puffs: look, guys, you’re going to have to learn to solve problems without me, it’s for your own good! (He knows that’s what needs to happen, even though he’s at war inside over it).
Raph says: what’s the responsible thing to do? And he’s trying to get his brothers to understand this as well (Pizza Puffs).
Raph Relationships:
Donnie: despite the lack of a full Donnie & Raph episode, they have a few surprising things in common. They each have an episode where they want their brothers to learn something. Donnie, in Mind Meld, wants his brothers to be smarter and plan ahead. Raph, in Pizza Puffs, wants his brothers to use some common sense and be a little more responsible. They both like finding solutions to problems, just one focuses on technical and one focuses on interpersonal problems. Mostly (for right now, though) Raph can be blunt with Donnie. He’ll slap the genius in the face with reality. “Donnie! The mech is REAL!” (The Purple Game). “Donnie, I know you know how to say it. We’re all on to you.” (Air Turtle). This is one turtle with whom he can put his foot down and say ‘hey! Back to Earth, now!’ (I can also see them collectively sharing facepalm moments in the future).
Tumblr media
Leo: there are times when Leo’s need to be the best and stand-out attitude clash with Raph’s focus on teamwork (Air Turtle, for example “take your win-at-all-costs attitude somewhere else, Leo, we need to work as a team!”) but they do get to a point where both of their strengths in the group strengthen each other, like how iron sharpens iron. Raph wants everyone to work together as a team, but Leo sees their individual strengths. Without that, we get Raph’s glueball disaster in Stuck On You, but together, we have their greatest moment in Many Unhappy Returns. Leo points out the parts each member have to play, and Raph puts it all together in one big plan to defeat the Shredder. “Trust me, bro.” “I do.” (I’m really excited to see where the show goes with this).

Mikey: the main Mikey & Raph episode right now actually seems to be Repairin’ the Baron, and there’s an interesting clash going on here. Raph believes and supports his system, his family. Draxum has been the mortal enemy of the Mad Dogs and deserves to be smashed. However, Mikey is adopting him into the family. Raph is not immediately okay with this, he has a hard time trying to change his inner world. But he cares about Mikey. As he tells Draxum “I’m still trying to get used to this, but Mikey thinks you’re part of the family. And the number rule of the Mad Dogs is: you always take care of family!” They’re actually very complementary, as Mikey can step in in emotionally charged situations where Raph can’t, and how his adaptability gets through Raph’s need for stability. (It will be interesting to see what Raph does as Mikey grows up).
Tumblr media
Ultimately, I’m excited to see Raph grow as he figures out the best way to guide this team and save the world. Home is where the heart is, and he’s got a big enough heart to be the home for a lot of people.
So that’s my (unbelievably cut-down) analysis of Rottmnt Raph! I’m going to save the relationships with April and Splinter for later, since this is already too long. Here are the links to learn more about the ISFJ and counterphobic 6w5 if you’re interested:

Hot Soup: The Game
Okokokok- so I know no one asked for this (and I haven’t been doing the rottmnt week since I feel like there’s not much I can offer for it) BUT I MAKE MY APPEARANCE TO TALK ABOUT MY FAVOURITE EPISODE....
which of course, is a Mikey episode (lol don’t worry, I’m gonna try and finish all the current requests before the new episodes start)
-LEO AND DONNIE SUPPORTING MIKEY IN HIS SOLO MISSION
-Also, even though Raph is overprotective, he still doesn’t follow Mikey in an obsessive, way, but actually lets him go (even though Mikey forgot his weapon). Despite what happens later, Raph did let him do it alone until he thought Mikey might be in danger... support
-”Yeah, but when I was his age, I was two years older” “what is up with your math?”
-Donnie’s robot hands ARE ABLE TO PAT MIKEY ON HIS HEAD SO HE DOESN’T THINK DONNIE DOESN’T CARE
-Leo’s smug face when he gets a hug but Raph doesn’t- also again, the casual “I love you,” THIS SHOW MAN
-Foot Recruit is so dramatic, I love her
Tumblr media
-”OH! IT’S GOT A FEATHER!!”
-”I shall return. STAY HERE AND DO NOTHING!” *fucking backflips away*
-the Foot Fathers being Foot Fathers
-”but she did like ‘Punch Chowder’... bUT ONLY CRIMINALS LIKE PUNCH CHOWDER”
-”You will not claim the artifact.” “but I have a receipt!”
-OK FORGET IT- LITERALLY EVER INTERACTION AND LINE BETWEEN RECRUIT AND MIKY IS AWESOME, I CAN’T WRITE THEM ALL
-Mikey answers the phone so casually...
-”You’re ok, right?”
-”Oh sure, just let me load my ‘tap into every security camera in New York’ app... I’m sorry if that sounded like sarcasm, it wasn’t, I am in”
-Leo and Donnie DO NOT REACT IN THE SLIGHTEST TO MIKEY GETTING KICKED
-this small moment:
Tumblr media
-Mikey clearly reaches for the sword first- it’s the logical choice in this situation, not to mention in any sort of battle- but instead, he moves to grab the umbrella instead. It’s a small moment, but it’s also clear that he thought about what to grab in this moment. It wasn’t just an accident, or it wasn’t he grabbed the wrong thing, otherwise we would’ve seen him grasp for the sword as his hand was nearby, but he didn’t- he purposely chose the umbrella, and won using it- he obviously figured out what weapon would be to his advantage in that small moment, and did it. Our orange boi is very smart.
-ICE CREAM KITTY???? IN A MIKEY EPISODE???? perfection
Tumblr media
-Foot Recruit shouting ‘KNIFE THROW’ before she throws knives??? she’s overdramatic af
- FOOT FATHERS BEING PROTECTIVE
-Mikey is so smol from Raph’s perspective
-Also Raph was ready to bribe Mikey into forgiving him (older sibling energy that I’m sure the others have exploited at some point)
-”Yeah! she gets it!”
-they went out forfalafel’s after
-Shredder teapot
tl;dr THIS EPISODE IS THE BEST???? (lmao my personal fave but whatever) Recruit and Mikey’s relationship is actually amazing, and I need more of them??? Not to mention how much I love Mikey’s personality in this show- and this episode is the perfect example of why I love him so much... I could honestly go on and on about this episode and what it says about Mikey’s character, but since I don’t wanna bore everyone, I’ll stop here XD
ALSO I JUST WANTED TO SAY THIS FANDOM HAS BEEN PUTTING OUT SOME AMAZING ART THIS WEEK, AND I HONESTLY CAN’T KEEP UP WITH IT ALL, BUT GREAT WORK EVERYONE!!!!! <3

Okay so, it’s pretty evident by now that Rise!Mikey has a bit of Sixth Sense, leading to him being incredibly on point with certain observations or even seemingly doing the impossible. Some examples of this on the top of my head:
Realized that there was real lunar weapons under the fake panel of the Moon Buggy in ‘Repo Mantis’
Knew EXACTLY how to distract Gus in ‘Bug Busters’ and did so without any hesitation
Was somehow able to mentally communicate with Bullhop and Todd in ‘Bullhop’ and ‘Nothing But Truffle’
The ‘Lights Off Jitsu’ pay-off in ‘Hide and Seek’
Somehow guessing exactly when Shredder would reappear in ‘Many Unhappy Returns’
Now, Rise is a very silly cartoon, so these ‘sixth sense’ examples could also just be chalked up to a running gag/jokes/coincidences. But honestly, given that all mutants in this series have some sort of power/ability even if it’s minor, and his bros all have abilities that don’t directly connect to their weapons (Raph’s natural strength, Leo’s natural speed and Donnie’s natural talent with tech), then why can’t Mikey have a bit of a sixth sense?
So, Mikey being very observational when he wants to be - which ties great into his out-of-the-box/use-your-surroundings fighting style that he uses them most out of all his bros - as well as being very emotionally intelligent (see ‘Breaking Purple’) gives him quite a bit of an edge. In relation, I’ve also noticed that even before ‘Repairin’ the Baron’, Mikey has been the least afraid of Draxum. There have been exceptions, of course, like in ‘Insane in the Mama Train’ when they were ALL terrified once they realized Draxum was there.
But then you look at eps like ‘Bug Busters’ where he was so sure that Draxum was there to rescue them when he busted into Mama’s office, and ‘Evil League of Mutants’ where he wasn’t afraid of Draxum at all (hence why Raph had to push his head into his shell and pull him back, lol) and only became worried when the rest of the villains made their appearance.
The only other villain he’s done this with (other than his personal idol, Meatsweats, which is something ALL the boys and April are guilty of) is Recruit - someone who, similarly to Draxum, the show seems to hint at having some additional depth and reasoning for why she acts the way she does and has certain goals. She tries to kill him and wreck his First Solo Mission Ever, and yet the next time they meet he still calls her their ‘frenemy’.
So what exactly am I getting at here?
Well, we know Mikey’s main reasoning in ‘Repairin’ the Baron’ for why they should help Draxum was that he’s technically family, a message that has been fairly controversial and seen as harmful in other shows (though thankfully in Rise it’s more ‘give them a chance to be better’ and not ‘forgive them before they’ve put in the effort’), but what if there’s another reason?
I already mentioned in a previous post that, due to his observational and emotional skills, Mikey might have picked up on Draxum’s true motivation through his monologues - that being wanting to protect Yokaikind from the ‘human threat’ and wanting to save his people rather than just being destructive for destruction’s sake like the Foot - which would in turn make Draxum seem like less of a villain and more of a guy who’s doing the wrong things for the right reason (i.e. someone who has the chance of seeing the error of his ways and being better).
But, what if in addition to that, Mikey just had a feeling that there was something in Draxum - something good that could be brought out, hence why even before they started learning more about his motivations, Mikey was always a bit friendlier towards Draxum than his brothers were.
Now I understand this isn’t exactly a problematic-free take either - the idea of a character feeling like they can change someone because “I know there’s good in them” and hanging onto that idea even after they’ve done awful things has also been heavily criticized as a harmful message - but for a character like Mikey who can be very optimistic, friendly and caring to others while still being more than willing to do what he needs to in order to protect people and save the day, it just makes sense that he would be willing to take a chance if he sensed that Draxum could be good (or at the very least, knew he wasn’t ‘totally evil’).
So yeah, tl;dr - not only was Mikey helping Draxum possibly foreshadowed from as early as ‘Bug Busters’, but with how scarily-accurate and correct Mikey can be at times, there’s a VERY good chance of Draxum eventually doing enough work and growth to earn his redemption and forgiveness/acceptance from the other characters.
