Perfect
Tumblr media
Summary : You were the perfect padawan and jedi knight. You had everything in line and under control, which may or may not have caused you to catch Obi-Wan Kenobi’s eye.
Warnings : None :) the only thing is the reader is depicted with having longer hair, or long enough hair to pull into a bun. (also not proofread bc im lazy)
Notes : instead of us simping, how about he simps for us? am i right guys? also the start isn’t my favorite and a lil weak. also pt 2, sorry i’ve been dead for over a month now, i havent had motivation to write that much and school is ending which meant testing :) hopefully ill get my motivation back so i can pump out more fics
Ever since you were a youngling and padawan, your master and other jedi praised you for being the perfect example of a new jedi. You got all the training forms down quickly, you were in control of your force abilities and you were always on time to everything.
It wasn’t even hard for you to do so, it was just natural for you. So that’s what stood out Obi-Wan Kenobi the most. You and him had classes together, bunked near each other and advanced around the same pace. You two were knighted around the same time as well.
You even helped Obi-Wan out when his padawan, Anakin, caused him stress and trouble. Especially during the Clone Wars. You were a very put together general and your clone squadron was highly renowned, so you were ready to go help 501st and, if needed, the 212th. In Obi-Wan’s eyes, you were perfect
Now, here you two were, working together again. You were on Obi-Wan’s star destroyer and the two of you, along with both of your clone squadrons, were tasked to go check in on a planet. The Republic had gotten reports of Separatist forces trying to turn the planet against the Republic. You and Obi-Wan were standing around a hologram of the planet with points highlighted where there were attacks.
“I saw we spread our forces out in order to reach all those areas quicker,” Obi-Wan commented, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
You put your hands on your hips. “I agree with General Kenobi. Cody, go tell the men our plan. Once we get on planet, we’ll split into groups then and spread out,” you replied.
Cody saluted you and left, leaving you and Obi-Wan alone. Your gaze fell on Obi-Wan, who was avoiding it. “General Kenobi,” you said, breaking the silence.
His head flicked towards yours, a little bit of blush forming on his cheeks. “Yes General L/N?”
“I’ve been sensing your emotions shifting a lot lately, is everything alright?” You asked, your head titling to the side ever so slightly. Your question made Obi-Wan’s blush increase.
“Uh,” he paused to clear his throat and think of a excuse, “it’s nothing, just some stress with Anakin is all.”
You hummed as a reply and nodded. “Well, we should go get to the transport ships.”
-----
The trip to planet was easy and so was splitting up. Your men, along with the 212th, were assigned a area of the planet to patrol. Once everything was evenly divided, there was still a little bit of land to cover. It was a flat plain of tall grass with a few tall mountain formations in it. You and Obi-Wan both volunteered to cover it with land speeders.
A transport ship dropped you and Obi-Wan off with two land speeders, once again leaving you two alone. You two prepped your bikes and small amount of supplies you had. The sun was close to setting on the planet and you two planned on only taking a few hours. You pulled your hair into a neat bun so it wouldn’t become a mess from riding your speeder. Obi-Wan watched you and how the late day sunlight made you look as if you were a golden goddess.
“Are you ready to go?” You asked, snapping him out of his thoughts as you mounted your speeder.
“Oh, yes,” he quickly replied, following your actions. The two of you set off towards the setting sun, scanners ready and eyes peeled for any separatist action.
A little while into your patrol, you were getting tired of being quiet. Twilight was setting in at that point. “Do you wanna talk about your stress with Anakin? I know you mentioned it earlier and it seems intense, at least from what I can sense,” you said louder than usual, since you were speeding through tall grass.
“Well, um,” Obi-Wan paused to think of a excuse again, “I think him and his padawan are pulling risky moves in their missions.”
“Don’t they complete their missions successfully?”
Obi-Wan mentally slapped himself. Anakin and Ahsoka were very successful their missions, of course you’ve heard about them. “Uh, yeah, well-”
“Bandits.”
“What?”
“Bandits, coming our way on speeders,” you said, switching the gears on your speeder so you could speed away. You turned right and Obi-Wan followed you. After a few moments, you two saw the bandits still on your tail. “We have to shake them!”
“Let’s split up! I see four, we can each take two,” Obi-Wan replied. You nodded and turned right again while Obi-Wan turned left.
You were doing fine until you looked behind you and saw one of the two bandits following had their blaster rifle out and aiming at your speeder. You gasped as they shot. You jumped right as your speeder exploded. Luckily there was tall grass beside you so you weren’t that hurt from the fall. You had to act dead though, you sensed the bandits coming to check that you were.
Obi-Wan heard an explosion behind him and looked, seeing your speeder blow up. His eyes widened as he thought he worse. He quickly made a sharp turn with his speeder and turned around, causing the two bandits following him to crash into each other in confusion.
Obi-Wan sped over to where you were, seeing the two other bandits speeding over to him. He jumped off his speeder and grabbed his lightsaber, activating it. As the two speeders were barreling towards him, Obi-Wan simply inhaled and exhaled. Then raced towards them, slicing through both of them. The bandits jumped off their destroyed speeders and hopped onto Obi-Wan’s, stealing it and riding off. Obi-Wan stood their for a moment before deactivating his lightsaber and running to find you.
You sat yourself up and rubbed your head. Obi-Wan quickly made his way over to you and crouched beside you. “Did they take your speeder?” You asked.
“Yes, come on. I think I see a cave not to far from here. We can stay there for the night and you can contact Cody. My comm link was on my speeder,” Obi-Wan answered, helping you up. Your hair was messy now from the fight and your clothes were dirty from falling on the ground.
“My comm link is a little bit busted, but I think the tracker still works on it. We can activate that once we’re safe,” you replied, following Obi-Wan as he lead you to the cave that he had seen.
--
Obi-Wan was able to make a fire while you tried to fix your comm link’s tracker. You two sat in silence, the fire crackling every once in a while. Obi-Wan watched as you worked, so focused on what you were doing. Some of your hair had fallen out of it’s bun, framing your face. Obi-Wan smiled to himself.
“There, I think I fixed it,” you said, breaking Obi-Wan out of his trance. You pressed a button and moved over to the opening of the cave. “It may take a while to reach the ship since the signal isn’t that strong. I think setting it over here will give it a better chance to reach.”
You sighed and leaned your head against the cave wall, a wave of tiredness washing over you.
“If you want, you can get some rest. I’ll take first watch,” Obi-Wan said, moving over to where you were so he could see outside. You smiled as a thank you then closed your eyes.
You were making it harder for Obi-Wan to ignore his feelings for you. Attachments were forbidden by the jedi. With you being the perfect jedi, he didn’t want to be the reason you messed up. No matter how much a struggle it was for him.
Only a little bit in his watch, he felt something heavy fall on his shoulder. He looked over and saw your head there as quiet snores escaped your mouth. Obi-Wan smiled then went back to watching outside. Though, it wouldn’t be long until he got tired and leaned his against yours as he fell asleep.
--
The morning light shined through the cave entrance and woke you and Obi-Wan up. Your fire had died out a while ago, only the ashes and burnt ground left behind. Your comm link was right where you left it. You got up tiredly and picked it up to check on it.
Obi-Wan stretched a little while you looked around outside. Moments later, you went back into the cave. “There’s a transport ship landing right now,” you said, taking Obi-Wan’s hand and leading him out.
He felt his face heat up at your touch. You didn’t let go of his hand as you two watched the transport ship land in the field below. “Obi-Wan, one last thing,” you started to say.
“What is it?” Obi-Wan replied.
You pressed a kiss to his cheek before letting go of his hand and making your way down to the transport ship. Obi-Wan smiled and touched where you kissed on his cheek. He watched as you met up with Cody in the field and started to explain what happened on your patrol together. Obi-Wan sighed happily before making his way down to you. You were so perfect to him.

The bigge wait for the Obi-Wan series
Day 49: Here is a list of my very favourite Obi-Wan fics on AO3, which I will very likely reread forever until the show finally drops. Give these stories some love, some kudos, some comments - they're all worth a read, I promise (MIND THE RESPECTIVE TAGS, FOLKS):
Always in motion is the future by arrowupmysleeve: (G) I love Obi-Wan inserting himself in Mandalorian business, you love Obi-Wan inserting himself in Mandalorian business - this is a fixit for the whole Galidraan disaster, featuring Padawan!Obi and bestest space buir!Jaster Mereel. It's eventual jangobi, and also a series, and the second part is in progress.
The Weeds in the Wilderness by ealcynn : (T) This one is a WIP as I publish this post, but I still would recommend you give it a go. It has such great worldbuilding, and such an interesting cast of OCs - it's Obi-Wan who doesn't remember who he is, stuck on a planet full of strangers as he tries to remember himself. No ship, just vibes.
For the Right Price by ShaeTiann: (M) This is the Epic. The long read you should try. If you're on the fence about Sith!Obi or Grey!Obi, then I think this fic will probably do a good job at convincing you of the appeal. This is Obi-Wan toeing the line between Light and Dark, making friends, falling in love, making his own path. It's a jangobi masterpiece, who also happens to be a series in progress.
An Elegant Weapon by RomanMoray: (T) Cody wielding a saber. Must I say more? This is codywan, and very dear to my heart. Featuring a Force-sensitive Cody, the inherent eroticism of training your commander in the arts of lightsaber combat, and Cody picking up Obi-Wan's saber - and his heart.
dark magics by savorvrymoment: (E) Oh, so you like both Maul and spicy times? I have just the fic for you: this is a wonderful work, which happened to be my intro into the Obi/Maul rarepair hell. It's got the perfect amount of angst, the perfect amount of tension. Truly perfect.
Don’t be afraid. by spqr: (T) THE FEELS. It's a burgeoning obikin with all the angst, feat. Padawan!Obi and Master!Anakin. Gorgeous, with the fluffy ending we all deserve. A re-read for sure.
i'll orbit your flickering star by sunskippa: (T) If you're looking for a longer codywan read, look no further! This is a great fic that follows the Clone Wars events through the eyes of our dearest Commander, as he falls in love with Obi-Wan. They way Cody is written is lovely: It has no flaw in my eyes.
diogenes (what makes a man?) by someawkwardprose: (T) Codywan, again, because I am in codywan brainrot, always. Also a very, very lovely portrayal of Cody. Also a retelling of the Clone Wars events through Cody's eyes, including his love for his General. I've recently re-read this, and Gods, it's good.
Binary System by Cimila: (E) You know these Open/Ambiguous endings that are somehow both incredibly satisfying and also leaves you just craving some more? Yeah? This is it - Soulmates AU, jangobi, Obi-Wan in the desert with baby!Anakin in tow. It's great. Also Spicy.
Late Night Bounty Call by eltrut07: (E) a/b/o jangobi, anyone? This is a WIP as I'm making this post, but it's being updated still! It's got Omega!Obi and Alpha!Jango hooking up (and falling in love, probably - eventually) during the Clone Wars, and baby Boba being confused. Lovely, lovely - and also spicy.
Honestly anything by glimmerglanger, though especially:
Make Your Bed (Lie in It): (T) Codywan, featuring Cody ending up in his General's bed and Vice-Versa, through the Clone Wars and beyond Order 66.
Currents and Tides: (E) MERPEOPLE! FORBBIDEN LOVE! THE 1940s! It's a codywan two-parter with plenty of snippets attached, and it is a masterpiece.
A Slow Fall Towards Grace: (E) a/b/o, endgame codywan: the angst, the eventual fluff, Obi and his kids. It's rough sometimes, guys, but it ends well.
Now with a part 2!
Part 1 / Part 2
Anyways these are just a fraction of the enormous amount of great Obi fics out there. Go dig in AO3, find the gems, give kudos. People are so freaking talented out there!

Whumptober Day 11 - Nightmare
Obi-Wan sighed as he felt the now-restless energy of his commander awake, dislodging him from his light sleep.
Alas, this sort of thing happened when you spent so long around someone in such high-stakes high-emotion situations. You become attune to them.
And this was the third time this week that Obi-Wan felt his commander do this. Not even he was this bad with sleep.
Obi-Wan waited a few minutes before following. Apparently it was the shooting range tonight.
Obi-Wan watched from the viewer’s window as his commander fired shot after shot into the targets. He saw Cody curse as he missed a few.
The simulation was set at one of the harder levels designed for squads to practice holding positions.
Obi-Wan waited until the exercise was over and Cody was scrolling through simulations before he entered.
Cody whirled and Obi-Wan noticed his eyes widening as soon as he registered who had entered the range.
Obi-Wan had to work far less at noticing Cody immediately trying to get his uncharged blaster as far away as possible from the both of them by slinging it across the room.
They both stared at each other in shock as the sound of the blaster bouncing across the floor echoed throughout the room.
“General, sir!” Cody barked, immediately going into a tense salute like Obi-Wan hadn’t seen since the first month they’d known each other.
He just raised an eyebrow in response. They both knew that the vode hated being unarmed, always avoided it when possible. For Cody to be so stressed he wasn’t sleeping was one thing. To be so distressed that he unarmed himself was another.
“I- I…” Cody tried to explain himself but couldn’t seem to manage it.
“You haven’t been sleeping well lately, commander. If at all. Is there a reason for that?” Obi-Wan prodded, perhaps starting with something less egregious would help.
“Just… nightmares, sir, nothing I can’t handle,” his commander deflected. Which might have worked better if Obi-Wan hadn’t taught Cody most of what he knew about deflecting.
“We’re in a war, Cody. We’ve been in thick of it for some time now. What exactly changed to make it so distressing?”
“It’s just the bad ones, sir. They’ve been getting more frequent lately and I need to blow off steam after them,” Cody responded, still not willing to relax into using his name.
“The bad ones?” Obi-Wan prodded.
Cody shivered, both physically and in the force, before steeling himself.
“The most common reoccurring dream I have is where I- where. Sir. Where I…” Cody was holding perfect parade rest. Shaking.
He swallowed. Obi-Wan could still feel a nauseous mix of guilt and fear emanating from him.
“Where I, uh,” Cody reached up and scratched his temple, “I shoot… where I shoot Jedi. Sir. I’m sorry,” Cody continued.
Obi-Wan carefully crossed over to Cody, no longer surprised at the man throwing his blaster away, and laid a hand on Cody’s arm, carefully telegraphing the move.
“Cody.”
Just saying his name seemed to break a dam and in a second Obi-Wan was following Cody down to the floor as the man seemed to shake even worse while he rubbed his eyes and temple with frustrated vigor.
“Half the time it’s generic. Blue and green and sometimes yellow or purple lightsabers. Half the time it’s you. Commander Tano’s been showing up as well recently,” Cody confessed, sounding angry and helpless in a way that Obi-Wan usually only felt from the man on the hardest of campaigns.
“Okay. Okay, thank you for telling me, Cody. And don’t worry, dreams pass in time,” Obi-Wan soothed. Given the spike of anger and frustration that came after those words, Obi-Wan near-instantly regretted saying them.
“That doesn’t matter if they’re effecting me now, Obi-Wan! I can’t sleep. If I can I can’t rest. I can hardly even look at you without imagining raising a blaster at you. How can I be your functioning commander if I’m like this?!” Cody demanded as he held the right side of his head in a vise, a tad hysteric.
Obi-Wan slung an arm around his friend as the other broke down further, waiting for Cody to collect himself, pretending not to see, as silly as it seemed.
“Sorry, Obi-Wan, sir. I don’t… I want to protect you. I don’t like these dreams, I don’t like any dream that compromises that,” Cody explained, reaching up to rub his right temple again, “I’ll go see the medics about it, maybe? Maybe they have something to get rid of dreams.”
Cody seemed to not want talk about it anymore, closing himself off in the force as he was, so Obi-Wan decided to drop it for now. He’d ask his friend again after he had gone to the medics.
“All right, while you’re there, maybe something for you head, as well,” Obi-Wan joked dryly, before continuing at the stirring of confusion in the force, “you’ve been touching your head an unusual amount tonight, commander Cody, especially your right temple,” Obi-Wan explained, pointing at the area Cody had been focusing on this whole conversation. Very different from his usual nervous tics.
Cody froze at the comment, though, which Obi-Wan had not expected.
“Do you think… Obi-Wan, it might be my chip. Maybe Kamino got the programming a bit wrong, or it’s defective, and that’s causing these dreams?” Cody asked, hopeful, “If it’s the chip, then it’s not my fault something’s wrong and they can fix it, right?” he continued, obviously looking for validation.
Obi-Wan was too stuck on earlier parts of Cody’s questions to notice, however, and instead moved so he was crouched in front of Cody, hands on the other’s shoulders, looking right into each other’s eyes.
“Cody? What chip?”

CHAPTER 6: THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL -- The Dark Side of Obi-Wan Kenobi - Part 2
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: Obi-Wan begins to tailspin while he fights to maintain discipline. As his body grows hungrier, his thoughts grow darker. How long can he keep this up before he snaps?
Thanks to all you wonderful readers out there! I hope you're enjoying yourselves. In a few chapters, things are going to take a turn. Hope you like where it goes.
--------------------
CHAPTER 6: The Downward Spiral
Coruscant – Jedi Temple
The first time Obi-Wan snapped at a youngling, Anakin wrote it off as exhaustion. His master was obviously not sleeping; in the first few days after his release from the medical ward, Obi-Wan seemed continually drowsy, but after a week he began to look downright wild. There were deep bruise-like circles around Kenobi’s red-rimmed eyes and he was constantly fidgeting and irritable. One morning, during their walk, they sat on the grass near the temple lake. A group of children were swimming in the clear water, splashing and laughing. Kenobi grew more and more annoyed until he finally shouted for them to “cease their incessant prattling.” It was not the first nor the last time the Jedi master openly lost control of his temper; on one occasion he even called Mace Windu an “arrogant ass” right to the Council member’s face.
--------------------
Tumblr media
After a week of following Yoda’s dietary regimen, Obi-Wan was starving, driven to distraction by hunger pains. Clear broths and simple foods were not enough to feed the Jedi’s blood, nor give him sufficient nutrients to improve his mental and physical health. He took his meals with Anakin and he often found himself staring longingly at his friend’s plate, fighting the urge to reach out and snatch a morsel into his mouth. He always finished eating well before Anakin, his stomach still audibly growling despite the food he ingested. Kenobi knew that Skywalker pitied him; in an act of solidarity the younger man even made an attempt to follow the same dietary restrictions. Within two days Anakin was clearly losing his mind with hunger, grumbling constantly to Obi-Wan about the stupidity of the Council. Though Kenobi did not disagree with his friend, and though he appreciated the act of camaraderie, he told Anakin to drop the routine and return to eating whatever he wanted.
“There’s no point in both of us being unpleasant company,” a chagrined Kenobi said to Skywalker with a frown.
After weeks spent in captivity and under a doctor’s care, Obi-Wan was desperate to sink his teeth into something satisfying. He did his best to control the jealousy that scuttled around in his heart, but he wanted what Anakin had, he wanted his freedom back. The angry voice in Obi-Wan’s head fueled his unrest, hinting that the Jedi were using food to keep him in a weakened state, that they were distracting him with hunger in order to keep him under their control.
They’re trying to restrict your powers, it whispered to him daily.
The Jedi fear your potential.
Patience, it soothed. Soon you will be set free.
--------------------
Accompanying Obi-Wan on his journey to recovery had become an exercise in patience for Anakin. His restless nature made it difficult to follow a methodic, plodding daily routine, but for his master’s sake he was determined to do his part. Therefore, every morning he met Obi-Wan in his quarters and escorted him on a walk through the gardens as Yoda’s regimen required. The two men talked sparingly – in truth Kenobi rarely spoke to anyone these days except Anakin and Yoda – but they never missed a chance to poke fun at each other.
Tumblr media
Occasionally during their walks, Kenobi abashedly asked Skywalker to pause for a while so he could meditate. He even went so far as to ask Anakin to sit directly next to him. At first this surprised Skywalker because Obi-Wan had always been very private. However, after observing only one session, Anakin quickly learned that meditating had become a harrowing experience for his master. He understood that Obi-Wan was not asking him to participate but wanted him nearby for emotional support. Though Skywalker had never been fond of meditating, he would patiently sit for an hour or more while Kenobi entered a light trance.
Each time Obi-Wan slipped into a meditative state Anakin knew his friend faced paralyzing fear; watching his master struggle with unspoken burdens was heartbreaking. Serenity nearly always eluded Kenobi; as he drifted deeper into his unconscious world he would grow panicked rather than sedate. His jaw would tense and his hands curled into fists while his breathing became unsteady. When this happened, Anakin would reach out and pull Obi-Wan’s hands into his own, pressing his thumbs against the pulse points on Kenobi’s wrists. Using the Force, he would gently guide Obi-Wan back to consciousness.
--------------------
Every morning Obi-Wan made his way down to the practice hall and worked through his katas. He tried to arrive as early as possible, hoping to spend most of his time alone. He felt grateful that in spite of all his turmoil and confusion, his lightsaber still felt natural in his hands; it made him feel powerful and controlled.
Anakin had returned his weapon to him the day after he was released from the healers. Obi-Wan feared his lightsaber had been lost forever, taken by Maul along with everything else, but Skywalker explained that Cody found it on the floor of the Sundari prison cell and had quickly scooped it up as they carried Obi-Wan to safety. Anakin had placed the weapon gently into Kenobi’s palm; holding it made Obi-Wan feel more like himself, like he had been reunited with a piece of his soul. He reverently inspected the familiar hunk of metal. Dried blood was crusted on the hilt and the emitter. Obviously that’s mine. He remembered how Maul had used the blue blade to burn and cut him over and over. Kenobi expended a considerable amount of energy cleaning off the red stains.
Tumblr media
On his first day of training Obi-Wan was nervous, so he decided to start with something simple. The initial kata he performed was an introductory Soresu pattern; he went slowly, just to test the waters and to see how his battered body would respond. His technique was graceful as ever, fully controlled and extremely fluid. Kenobi had a reputation for precision and ease, and he was pleased to find he could still hold a form nearly indefinitely. His muscles were tighter than usual, not surprising considering their recent abuse, but they loosened with each new kata he tried.
However, as the days passed and he grew hungrier and more lightheaded, he began to feel tired and less disciplined, especially regarding his Council-enforced restrictions. Obi-Wan actively forbid himself from letting his lightsaber skills suffer as a result of his lethargy. Consequently, he became obsessive during his practices, holding himself to an almost impossible standard, exhibiting unparalleled control and truly beautiful technique. The slow repetition made his muscles stronger than ever, while his lack of nutrition kept his limbs sinewy rather than bulky. The self-control required to perform at such a proficient level, coupled with his low caloric intake, was physically taxing and Obi-Wan would often be terribly exhausted after a session. He hid it well from his fellow Jedi, but later in the afternoon he would have trouble staying awake. Anakin was a good sport, gently nudging him whenever he dozed off, saving Obi-Wan from embarrassment, but Kenobi began to wonder how long he could carry on this exhausting charade.
He felt tension building in his energy like a coiled spring, as though it would need a release soon or he feared he would explode. He desperately wanted to spar with Anakin, but Yoda had expressly opposed it. Obi-Wan had to content himself with solitary practice patterns – occasionally Anakin would join him but Skywalker rarely had the patience for methodic katas.
The Council would not let him eat enough, nor would they allow him to fight. How could he ever achieve balance if all he felt was constricted? These frustrations began to manifest as anger. Every time he watched Anakin spar with their fellow Jedi, Obi-Wan felt sickeningly jealous.
They don’t trust you anymore.
Kenobi had grown used to the cackling, ice-cold voice in his mind.
You gave everything to this temple, to the Jedi, and now they treat you like a criminal.
He had stopped arguing with it long ago.
If only they would let you off your leash, they would see how powerful you’ve become.
Obi-Wan did not know how it was possible to feel so strong and so weak at the same time. How could he physically be so certain, so confident, but mentally be a tumultuous wreck?
In a sudden moment of clarity he was able to silence the voice inside his brain as he realized he absolutely should not be sparring if he was so unbalanced. Anyone he fought would be at risk; he knew for certain that his pent up energy would leave someone injured, and, worst of all, he feared he might enjoy it.
--------------------
On several occasions, Anakin found Obi-Wan sleeping in strange places around the temple. It was fairly obvious that his master was not sleeping at night, but he was still surprised to find Kenobi unconscious on a bench in the Room of a Thousand Fountains, in the library surrounded by scattered datapads, and even once on the inner courtyard steps under the bowing branches of the ancient Jedi tree. Kenobi always tried to laugh it off as an unfortunate side effect of Yoda’s strictures, but Anakin saw through the façade. Obi-Wan was starving, exhausted, and troubled. He was confined to the temple, he was haunted by awful memories, and he refused to confide in anyone. Anakin began to truly fear for his master’s well being.
There were times he could forget Obi-Wan was trying to recover from a horrendous ordeal, times were Kenobi would crack a joke or say something biting that only the two of them would understand and find funny. But just as often he would see things that unnerved him, moments where Kenobi’s temper got the better of him or where he would catch Obi-Wan staring listlessly out the window for long periods of time.
Tumblr media
Anakin started to doubt the Council, wondering if they really had Kenobi’s best interest at heart. Obi-Wan was obviously languishing; anyone close to him could see that. He wondered if Yoda was aware of how bored and irascible Obi-Wan had become over the last week. Every evening Skywalker escorted Kenobi to Yoda’s chamber and waited outside while the two masters talked and meditated together. Obi-Wan always looked shaken and bone-weary when he emerged, but he would never tell Anakin what was discussed. Skywalker feared Yoda was ignoring the truth, that the Council was more interested in punishing Obi-Wan for breaking the Code rather than helping him heal. He worried this continued alienation would unintentionally push Kenobi to the Dark Side.
Considering how little they had discovered about Obi-Wan’s altered Force signature, and considering Yoda’s stringent requirements, Anakin believed the Council’s course of action actually left the Jedi more vulnerable than if they had developed a socially inclusive healing plan for Kenobi. If Anakin were in Obi-Wan’s shoes, he would feel betrayed by the Order. Skywalker thought the Council should tread more carefully. He believed Obi-Wan needed kindness more than he needed structure.
--------------------
NEXT CHAPTER: Obi-Wan has a particularly unpleasant session with Yoda, which leads him into some dangerous territory. Something changes inside our handsome Jedi. And Anakin learns the hard way not to sneak up on Kenobi.
