death in venice by thomas mann (classic. but its so rich w metaphors and symbolism. if you do read it, i'd recommend reading "the uses of myth in death in venice" by isadore traschen afterwards, bc it does a great job explaining all the freudian allegories and mythological symbolism and u'll literally be tearing ur hair out afterwards over how brilliant thomas mann was)

the carnivorous lamb by agustín gómez-arcos (idc that i've already talked about this a gajillion times on here. its literally the best book i've ever read. i'll forever be obsessed and i wish there was literally anything that could ever hit as hard as this did. if u read it, anon (if u havent already) dont go through the carnivorous lamb tag on here bc u need to experience this without any big prior knowledge. trust me)

→ summary: Isador's hand has been won by none other than Namjoon. Now weddings bells are ringing and she has to walk down the aisle.

This is your descendant, Orunmila?”

“Yes.”

“She is who you picked to spread our messages?”

“Yes.”

Isador’s head was ringing. The voices were not helping in any way.

“Isador Abioye, are you awake child?”

The noise she made was something between a grunt and an affirmation. The ringing was becoming louder and was making everything fuzzy. She could’ve sworn someone had said Orunmila.

“I believe she is incapacitated. Give the girl some water from the healing fountain.”

Was she in the hospital? If so, why were they talking about the gods and healing fountains?

She felt a glass being pressed to her lips, and she tasted cold water. She drank it feverishly and felt a cooling sensation through her body. Her head stopped spinning and she was able to open her eyes to see two people standing above her. One looked concerned while the other was annoyed.

The concerned one was a well-built man with a muscular physique. He looked like her but much older. Dark brown skin, kinky hair that raised towards the sun, brown eyes, and full lips. She instantly knew this was Orunmila. The god of wisdom and the god that bestowed her grandmother with the strength to lead the dragons to a new home.

The annoyed one looked like someone from the Seoul Province. In fact, Isador thought the person looked a little like Namjoon. Piercing almond eyes, long legs that went on for miles, and chestnut tanned skin. She wasn’t sure who they were but they were connected to Namjoon’s ancestry. If Isador squinted hard enough from her view on the floor, she could see that their eyes were really the color of a fire.

Racking her mind, she finally came to realize that this was Jowangshin.

“Are you clear minded now, child?” Orunmila asked.

Isador nodded and pulled herself upright. This was when she noticed that she was in her human form. She had clearly been in her dragon form.

She took in her surroundings, noticing the different drawings and writings on the walls. Isador could see brightly colored dragons and stick figured humans on one of the walls. The humans had pickaxes and swords while the dragons lay motionless. Chained. Weak. It was the time before Graele saved her people.

As many times as she heard the story from her grandmother, nothing could compare to the actual horrors dragons must have faced. Her grandmother still had the scars.

“You have no survival skills, child,” the annoyed one said, obviously irked. “We could have killed you ten times over now.”

“Jowangshin.”

“I’m just saying, Orunmila. She’s not asked a single question about us.”

Isador fought against the urge to roll her eyes. In retrospect, Jowangshin was correct. She hadn’t asked a single question. Isador felt as if she didn’t need to ask anything because it was going to be answered anyway.

If these were truly the gods her grandmothers always talked about, then they were wise beyond their years. And Jowangshin looked as if they would get annoyed if Isador asked questions.

So her situation wasn’t the best.

Orunmila squatted to reach Isador and bowed his head. Isador did the same in respect.

“It is wonderful to finally meet a descendant of the courageous Gayle. I was blessed to give her the gifts of the elements and more.”

Isador withheld her incessant snort and let him continue.

“But, it has come to my attention that someone took those gifts away. Especially at a time when you would need it most. Are you truly the only one with the gift? How was it stolen from the family line of Gayle? The line of Orunmila?”

“Here we go with the narcissist-like attitude,”Jowangshin said snarkily.

Orunmila shared a secret eye-roll with Isador but ignored the other god. He waited for Isador to answer.

Isador was surprised, which would be an understatement. “The gods took away our gift once they realized that the dragons were on the brink of civil war because of the elemental power that only my family could have. Were you not a part of that decision?”

Orunmila shook his head and cast a knowing look at his companion. Isador still had no clue why they were here. They hadn’t done anything but patronize her very existence.

“I would not take away something I kindly bestowed on a descendant I found worthy. That is not the way of the Arushi.”

Isador wanted to point out that it actually was the way of the Arushi, but she saw Jowangshin glare at her from behind Orunmila and kept her retort to herself.

“Isador, let me introduce you to Jowangshin, the god of the underworld. She is kin to the one you have made vows to.”

Vows. Isador had completely forgotten about the wedding. Namjoon and her family were probably freaking out, meanwhile she was being held hostage by the most two confusing gods she had ever (and these were the only two) spoken with.

“Namjoon is a descendant of hers and was granted a gift that equals yours.”

Jowangshin cleared their throat and gave Orunmila a pointed look. “I can introduce myself ‘Mila. You don’t do me any justice anyway. Why’d you stop at god of the underworld and kin? I am much more than that.” The god had begun to rant in a language that Isador recognized as old Seoulan.

She had learned the language as a child, because her grandmothers liked to tease her. Of course, like everything else, she had to adopt the new languages of the provinces.

She waited for the god to calm down before asking, “What is this about? I need to go back to the wedding.”

“Listen, child,” Orunmila began. “As you know now, you are a harbinger for the gods. You are our messenger. When you saw the gift, that was our que to bring you here. We need questions answered, and so do you. Your wedding can wait.”

Maybe all three emotions packed into one is a good idea. But curiosity did kill the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.

“What questions do you have that you think I can answer? Aren’t the two of you supposed to be all-knowing?”

They both answered “No” at the same time.

Jowangshin crossed their arms and leaned on the wall, “One of the questions you already answered for us.”

“Great. Let’s hear the next ones so I can get back.”

Orunmila shared another look with Jowangshin–something that was starting to get on Isador’s last nerve.

“Our second question is-”

“Actually,” Isador interrupted. “I have a few questions of my own. Why am I the one with the gift if it was taken from us? Why do I have more than one gift?"

"All questions will be answered in due tim-"

"If I answered your question, then you answer mine."

Jowangshin lifted their eyebrows but Isador saw the minute smile growing on their face. " So the princess does have a spine," they said. "Fine. I'll answer why you have more than one gift. It's the same reason why Namjoon has more than one."

"His is hidden," Isador interrupted.

"Yes. For good reason. Where you are the harbinger of the gods, Namjoon is a death odemi."

Isador tilted her head in confusion.

"An odemi is a demon. A powerful one. There are many types but we’ll only focus on the death part.”

Orunmila shook his head at his companion. “Another time. Isador needs to go back.”

Jowangshin simply shrugged, “Isador, when you get back, everyone will be a little worried. You did fall almost 30 feet down-”

“What?”

“But thankfully,” they continued, ignoring Isador,” you were in your dragon form anyway. You will not tell anyone where you have been.”

Orunmila nodded, “I will say that it will be easy for you not to mention it. In fact, I will show you what you missed before we brought you here.”

The god placed his hand on her forehead. Isador felt a pulling sensation before a vivid image flashed before her eyes.

Oh gods.

“This is what I would have seen?” She couldn’t hide the panic in her voice.

Both of the gods nodded.

Her head began to pound again and her arm felt heavier.

“You are waking up, child. We’ll be calling you back soon.”

Orunmila stood to his full height. Isador hadn’t even realized she was still on the floor.

“Isador, I don’t like you that much. But I do like my descendant Namjoon. Stay near him and you will be protected,” Jowangshin said. “And practice your elemental gift. You will need it.”

The room was beginning to fade in and out, and the headache was turning into a migraine. Her arm was definitely feeling weird, and if Isador had to guess, it was broken.

Orunmila had one last thing to say though.

“History is repeating itself, Isador, but this time…the gods will not be on your side.”

So, like. This book takes place in the future, right? Around 100 years give or take. One of my favorite things is that at one point, the OT3 is walking around these ruins, and one of them, Othello, finds a working instant camera. He's kinda emotional about it for reasons I cannot disclose lol, but the point is it reminds him of home and he LOVES taking pictures of Everything™️. Especially those two, Lyvrea and Isador, but Isa is always a little annoyed about it because he thinks Othello is trying to make fun of him by taking an unflattering picture and doesn't really get that Othello is actually trying to flirt lmao. Anyway, the camera stays with them long enough that Othello starts a little collection and then gets all cranky (romantic) when he realizes he mostly just took pictures of those two haha what a simp

The year is 1912, The luxurious “Millionare’s Special” steam engine oceanliner RMS Titanic is about to embark on her maiden voyage. Aboard it are John Aster, Isador Strauss & Benjamin Guggenheim; three of the world’s wealthiest men, who are opposed to the creation of the federal reserve banking system and turning the USA into a corporation. JP Morgan Chase, the owner of the ship, coincidentally was not aboard. He’d intended to be, but cancelled just hours before it’s departure. Which is terrible considering he’d invested 7.5 million dollars into it (1911 7.5 million… according to an internet inflation calculator that is equivalent to $2,401,002,631.53 “two billion ,four hundred one million ,two thousand ,six hundred thirty one dollars and fifty three cents” in 2023!) Tragically amongst thousands of others Aster, Strauss, and Guggenheim perished at sea when The Titanic crashed at full speed into an established iceberg. So sad. But without them around to use their wealth and power in opposition of the creation of a Federal Reserve System, in 1913, a year later, it was signed into law.

It’s interesting that now in present time, 2023, Billionaires were adventuring to the bottom of the ocean sea-floor, for entertainment’s sake, to traverse the oceanic graveyard of Titanic Shipwreckage.. of course they died too, and with full time coverage. All of those of us who never even asked suddenly being non-consensually updated and roped in. I was at work today and people were like “Did you hear? They ran out of air.” I’m like who the fuck even are they? But still, it’s trippy. Especially after a year of many satirical eat-the-rich-laugh-at-them-suffering films topped charts. In these times laughing at kings fall is all we have, I get it. But it gets weirder, because the CEO of OceanGate Expositions was married to a woman named Wendy Rush, who’s the great-great-great granddaughter (by blood) of Isador Strauss (remember him? mentioned above ^) it’s crazy! How esoteric. But I don’t really even want the focus to be on waterlogged billionaires or the late Strauss Bloodline.. I want to go back to 2023 JP Morgan Chase.. the original man is dead but his namesake and legacy live on, leeching evil into the earth. I wonder why it doesn’t get more press when ten days ago JP Morgan Chase Bank agreed to pay $260 million dollars to victims of Jeffrey Epstein to settle their class action lawsuit around the bank associating with Epstein as he trafficked people and even after he was convicted of pedophilia. TODAY, the same fucking day that these random rich bros die 20,000 leagues under the sea. 6/22/2023, JP Morgan Chase (bank) is fined 4 Million dollars for permanently deleting 47 million emails. I wonder what future lawsuits they sunk by deleting that info. I wonder if this OceanGate Submarine story is real or an intentional distraction/ psyop. Idk I’ve been writing for 15 min n just got hit with so much sleepiness I’m going to be lazy and not actually conclude this at all. Banks own media Banks have bloodlust Banks know how much we love bread and circuses and it’s all smoke and mirrors. A Triangle Of Sadness that we can’t do anything about until we realize how disgustingly low they will sink to get what they want. Abolishing these unimaginably massive wealth and power inequities is the only path forward, but first we have to sit with the information we’re given, and discern and be open minded, be curious, hold massive possibilities with our mind’s eyes. not shut down, or deflect with laughter. Not be lead like a mouse to a trap. They invest trillions into keeping us busy/distracted/subdued/subservient and it doesn’t even matter because we mock and police each other and make jokes of curiosity. “Conspiracy Bullshit” / unconscious trust and devotion.

Hey, I saw your post asking us to gush about minecraft ocs and…ok, so, I have a lot. Partly because details of my ocs tie into the world I made for them, and mostly because I’ve been working on this for 3 and a half years and there’s a lot to tell.

Anyways, my main oc, Hannah, is from the real world and was dragged into the realm of Minecraft. It turns out that there are four kingdoms in this world and three out of the four kingdoms believe in a religious prophecy that entails that a tyrant will rise from one of the kingdoms, but a warrior will return to vanquish them. They believe Hannah to be this warrior, but Hannah doesn’t feel like she is. Unfortunately for her, the only way for her to get back is to go through the same portal that she came in from, and the only way to get the portal to reactivate is to gather the missing corner pieces from each of the four kingdoms. Throughout her journey, Hannah makes friends and allies, all while learning the rules of the server she’s in and how Minecraft works.

Oh yeah, the four kingdoms here are:

Kinerfall: A kingdom for the other players on the server. They see the world as more of an in-depth roleplay thing. Ruled by Queen Amara, who is also from the real world.

Weyforlosa: A kingdom for mobs. They are currently in an active war with Kinerfall because their ruler, King Coveris, used to date Queen Amara, but they split because they each thought that the other was going to be the tyrant.

Lavail: The Nether kingdom. They usually don’t believe in the prophecy or the religion the other kingdoms follow called Avianity. Ruled by King Hesil.

Vaniscar: The End kingdom. Currently the people there are a bit on edge because their recently crowned king, King Afias, has a bit of a checkered past, but he’s what they have for now.

Throughout the story, Hannah makes friends with some mobs that decide to tag along with her, pictured here:

Lonnie is a witch’s experiment that came to life as a slime. She loves adventures and knows how to brew potions.

Isador used to be a wandering trader, but he got turned into an evoker after being captured during a raid. He breaks free from the pillager’s side after meeting Hannah.

Dilou is a part of the royal guard for Lavail. He’s never been outside of the Nether before, so the adventure he goes on with the team is full of new surprises.

Evelyn has it out for King Afias after he wronged her in such a way that it got her banished from Vaniscar. 

Anyways, sorry I rambled for so long. I just have a lot to say about this world…wait, I didn’t even tell you its name.

The world is called Avion. As such, the story is called Tale of Avion.

As for Kinerfall, all of the players there see it as a roleplay sort of thing (and at least Amara is an irl person, though idk if the others are as well)... would they ever want to return to the real world, do they have access to do so, or are they mostly just in-game players? Is Amara an exception in this right, like Hannah is?

Also even if Hannah isn't the real hero the rest of the kingdoms make her out to be, she still seems to be uniting them in a way! Getting a bunch of mobs together from different corners of the world towards a common force (and getting to understand where each is coming from) is very valuable!

For kingdoms, are they/have they ever been on good terms? Do they have agreements or treaties between one another to keep the peace, is it uneasy, or are there a lot of wars happening? In my head I feel that Kinerfall wouldn't get along with a lot of the kingdoms (being that players typically hunt mobs for resources/sport/etc.), but I have little knowledge about it as of yet so I'd love to hear :)

I ask a lot of questions because I'm curious, so sorry if the wall of text is a little intimidating! I just love the worldbuilding!! As you know, my nether fascination is not very sane of any human being, but I also love exploring how in-game mechanics might work in a story-- things like using your inventory, for instance, or how totems of undying feel to use, if applicable in the AU. Like-- for the end kingdom, what is their main material? Like what are Afias' clothes/armor made of? Do they have materials in the end we're not able to see in game, or do they trade with other kingdoms? Do they eat chorus fruit? Do endermen need to eat at all? How do alliances work out between them all? How do the mobs keep from burning during the day? Do they have any magic that helps? Charms, amulets, totems? Do kingdoms have to compromise sometimes (like players would need to have a meeting with the mobs at night, to prevent them from burning up, in lieu of being able to see all that comfortably?)

ALSO stay determined? A fellow UTDR enjoyer? Huzzah! This is coming from someone who wears a LOT of stripes and now has a love for sweaters after allowing it to shape my life a while back lol

Anyways. Lots of questions, I'm inherently curious, what can I say? Long story short. I love your characters I'm looking directly at them!!!! Thank you for sharing with the class :D

Day 14: Working Late

(AO3 time)

I am Emmet. I won’t be home for dinner.

This text would be much more normal for Elesa to send compared to Emmet, but Ingo still took it in stride as he lets the spaghetti sauce simmer. So, with the change in schedule for the evening, Ingo went about getting the night ready. It was currently 5:45pm, and Elesa was due home from the Gym by 6:30. Get the food ready, and maybe spend some time watching either TV or movies until she had to get to bed before her photoshoot in the morning.

And by 8pm, the pair were settled down in pajamas, watching The Food Network on the couch in the living room, since it was their shared guilty pleasure that Emmet simply didn’t care for. It was odd for him to not be home yet, especially on an early day, but they made the most of it. The pair salivated over the food these television chefs were making, and occasionally paused to note down specific recipes that strike their paired fancies.

And by 11pm, Elesa was curled up in bed and asleep, and Ingo was at the dining room table, with several books strewn about him and a notebook open for notes. And it was like this that Emmet finally opens the apartment door and walks in. “I am Emmet! Today was too long!” He falls into a chair across the table from and groans in exhaustion.

“Welcome home, brother,” Ingo says, looking up from his studying. “Was today really that busy?” While Ingo was almost always frowning, the furrow of his eyebrows shows his concern as he closes his notebook. “Are you sure I couldn’t have helped today?”

Emmet waves his hand with a sigh as he sits up. “I am Emmet. I am a Subway Boss. You won’t be until Monday. It’s Friday.” With a grunt, he stands up to begin reheating the spaghetti sauce. “You get a bit more on your vacation.”

Ingo grumbles as he taps his pencil against the notebook. “I’ve been on an extended vacation for three years, Emmet. I’m wanting to get back to work, it’s been killing me to do nothing but cook, clean, and study for recertification.”

“Did they let you know if they would waive the fee?” Emmet pokes at the sauce with a spoon as it begins to simmer. “I’d be able to help with the fee. It’d be nice to have it gone, though.”

“Very nice,” Ingo says, slumping in his chair. “They did say that they would waive it due to the circumstances. I feel confident for the test on Thursday.” 

Emmet nods quietly as he prepares his plate of spaghetti and sits across from Ingo again. “You’ll do fine. You are Ingo. You were, are, a Subway Boss.” He slurps up a bit of noodle and swallows before smiling at his brother. “If you fail, then they simply gave you a bad test.”

“Bravo,” Ingo says sarcastically, rolling his eyes as he begins to gather up his books. “So, nothing out of the ordinary at work today? Just stayed late?”

Emmet nods with a mouthful of spaghetti, giving Ingo the chance to clear the table of his study material before swallowing. “Just some maintenance on the computer systems. They needed a manager to sign off. Hilda and Isadore were openers, Cloud had an issue arise.” He shrugs and sighs down at his half-eaten spaghetti. “And I haven’t been here much, so I offered to stay. And now I am tired and hungry, but my appetite is quickly going.”

“Don’t force yourself,” Ingo says with a yawn before stepping over to give Emmet a one-arm hug. “Make sure to treat your engine with care, and get some rest when you’re able. I’m heading to bed. Good night, Emmet.”

“Good night, Ingo.”

Isador and Will met first. They both were at the lap together getting their starter pokemon. Isador didn't immediately join Will per say, though they ended up meeting up in Sheridan again and went " well, we're already heading to goldenleaf let's go there together ^^" ( Isador would have preferred going alone but around this point his facade is pretty much set so.)

They meet Myo in Goldenleaf Town! The specifics aren't clear, but I imagine Will and Myo hitting it off ( as in Myo scaring the shit out of Will, and Will having to deal with that) and Myo just not wanting to be in Goldenleaf anymore, especially now that they can leave.

The group fully becomes a group by the time they reach akuwa town and get kidnapped. Cause after that, they've all been put in so many different scenarios that them going separate ways seems. Dumb. For Izzy specifically he realized " oh, this could be my big break" only for Will to take the spotlight. Sadge.

Aaaaand yeah! Them traveling together was pretty much out of convenience at first, but with Myo and Will they became actual friends! Will considered Isador a friend too. Myo did not.

Thinking about ambassador animals that act as teaching animals for certain species, combining that with the sanctuary, the idea of Nobles and Wardens (re: this post reply by @skullmuffet)

Ingo and Lady Sneasler are the only still existing pair that can be legitimately called a Warden and their Noble - and it's a very special case considering that Ingo was adopted into the culture. To apply that to anyone else, or Pokemon not descended from the blessed Noble bloodline, would be an insult to the indigenous Sinnoh Clans, particularly when so far from their land. They want to preserve their history, not appropriate it!

However, the Hisuin Pokemon can be given a Ambassador title! The one most suited for helping spread the history and importance of preserving life gets bequeathed the title of Ambassador - Lady Sneasler is technically the Ambassador for her kind, though is more often referred by her Noble status.

In the place of Wardens, you have the Envoy - the person who works closest with the Ambassador, helping them spread awareness while ensuring their needs are all met and documenting whatever data points they come across. Differing from Wardens and Nobles, they're basically bonded pairs, so if one retires, so does the other!

Dawn was originally considered to be possible Envoy for an Ambassador, but she turned it down on account of trying to find herself and not being comfortable with the position.

Isadore ends up being the Envoy for his Hisuin Voltorb (child of Dawn's Electrode), with the added bonus of being a descendant of Warden Melli.

Clay would also be a good choice as an Envoy, though I've yet to decide on whether for Kleavor or Goodra.

Depot Agent Cameron accidentally becomes the Envoy of Hisuin Lilligant, but excels at it all the same.

I think Skyla would be a good Envoy for Hisuin Braviary, especially since it's an Alpha (seeing as Dawn's is an Alpha) and thus on the bigger side~

They might reach out to any other known descendants of Wardens who might be willing to work as Envoys, though that might not work if they're Gym Leaders who can't exactly pick up and move! (Though if a sister sanctuary is built in Sinnoh....)

This leaves Ursaluna, Wyrdeer, Basculeigon, Hisuin Typhlosion, and whichever doesn't pair with Clay currently without Envoy.

And alas, no Celestica Flutes for these duo. Though they may have something similar to the Wardens bracelet thing like what Ingo has!

I was in a very rough place when I found this one. And shortly there after I brought Mihli's character back to life and revitalized her in FFXIV. It's funny when I look back on it because its all thanks to this song. In a lot of ways it's one of her theme songs at this point.

Demons by Isador

Another song that has deep meaning to one of my characters. This would be at the top of my lists for important songs dealing with Blink's character. The lyrics absolutely hit for her character at that stage, but its also the music. It has this incredible chaotic feel to the whole song that just--- really encompasses Blink's character.

This one describes Siyoh's past much more than her present. Unfortunately especially her time spent during the occupation of Doma. I don't want to touch more on that topic on tumblr. But, I love this one. Especially for her present character and how far she's grown from this point. Proud of her.

Behind the Screen: Asian and Latin American voices of fictional librarians

From left to right: Benedict Wong, Ashly Burch, Joey Haro, Elaine Del Valle, and Kenn Navarro

There are Asian and Latin American actors who have voiced many librarians in fiction over the years. Part of understanding fictional librarians is understanding those behind the screen and this article contributes to that. Part 1 of this series focused on Black women and men who voice fictional librarians.

This post is reprinted from Pop Culture Library Review and Wayback Machine.

In this part, I am profiling Asian and Latin American voice actors who voiced librarians.

About the voice actors

There are many talented voice actors who aren't White men or White woman, who comprise the majority of those who voice animated librarians, especially in Western animation. These talented voice actors include Benedict Wong as Wong in What If...? episode ("What If... Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?"), Ashly Burch who likely voices an unnamed librarian in a We Bare Bears episode ("The Library"), and Joseph "Joey" Haro as Mateo in Elena of Avalor. Specifically, Burch is of Thai descent, Wong is of Hong Kong descent, and Haro is of Cuban descent (and is gay).

There's also Elaine Del Valle as Val the Octopus in Dora the Explorer episode ("Backpack") who is Latine, and Kenn Navarro as Flippy in Happy Tree Friends episode ("Random Acts of Silence") who is a Filipino animator. Additionally, there is Emanuel Garijo as Kaeloo in French in Kaeloo episode ("Let's Play at Reading Books"). Doug Rand voices Kaeloo in the English dub, and Domenico Coscia in the Italian dub, to name another character. As it turns out, Navarro is one of the creators of Happy Tree Friends, while Valle is known  as the actor and writer of an one-woman stage play she created: Brownsville Bred. Garijo has done French voice work for years, while Rand has done English voice work, while I couldn't find anything on Coscia.

Another person worth mentioning is Vivienne Medrano, a Latine animator of Salvadoran descent who created the animated shows Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss along with a video for her webcomic Zoophobia. She voices Sarah in Nico Colaleo's series, Too Loud, replacing Julia Vickerman, who was racked by controversy following allegations that she engaged in pedophilia, after beginning her series, Twelve Forever, which was sadly cancelled by Netflix after the end of its first season. The reason for its cancellation is not known.

It is also highly probable that Janice Kawaye, an actress of Japanese descent who has voiced characters since 1983, likely voices the librarian in Totally Spies episode ("Totally Switched"). Kawayke has voiced characters like Couchpo in Edens Zero, Shiori in Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, Jenny / XJ-9 in My Life as a Teenage Robot, and Sara in Invader Zim, to name a few characters she has voiced.

An additional late entry to this list is Jenny Lorenzo, who presumably voices the skeleton librarian, Eztli, in an episode of Victor and Valentino. Lorenzo is known for her role as Lupe in the same show, but she has also voiced Choo Choo and Spooky in Jellystone. She is a Cuban-American actor known for her work on We Are Mitú and is a co-founder of BuzzFeed's Pero Like, becoming a viral sensation for her Abuela character, and what her IMDB page calls "relatable, Latino-based content seen through the comedic and nostalgic lens of a 1st generation Cuban-American."

Another additional entry is Danny Trejo. He voices Bobby Daniels, a bad-boy librarian in an episode of The Ghost and Molly McGee. Trejo, who is of Mexican descent, is best known for his role as Isador "Machete" Cortez in the Spy Kids franchise films. In terms of animation, he voiced Enrique, Victor Velasquez, and other characters in multiple King of the Hill episodes, along with assorted roles in El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, The Cleveland Show, Young Justice (as Bane), Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel, and Tangled: The Series (as Wreck Marauder / Malice Marauder). He also voiced characters in Big City Greens, Elena of Avalor, 3Below: Tales of Arcadia (Tronos), Victor and Valentino, and The Casagrandes.

About the characters

As I described Wong, he is the first librarian shown in the series What If...?, trying to guide Doctor Strange, warning him that tinkering with time will threaten the entire fabric of the universe, but he cares little. Even so, he later helps the good Strange train to fight the evil Strange. Unfortunately, he has less of a role in the episode as the other librarian, Cagliostro. Luckily, he has more of a role in the live-action films, as Jennifer Snoek-Brown has written about time and again.

The librarian in the We Bare Bears episode, on the other hand, is stern, has some characteristics of a spinster librarian, professional work attire, wanting to do her job and following the rules. I concluded that she is probably overworked and exhausted, something you don't always see when you see depictions of librarians in animation. She also is helpful to patrons, even letting them sleep in the library, which I found surprising. Mateo, on the other hand, is a wizard and royal advisor to the show's protagonist, Elena. He bucks stereotypes of Latine people, not shushing people at all, remaining as helpful as he can instead.

Val the Octopus is a minor character in Dora the Explorer, having a variety of odd jobs like running a cash register, driving a mail truck (or an ice cream truck), being a lifeguard, or a librarian. She is the latter in the episode ("Backpack") and is vary courteous to Dora.

Flippy in Happy Tree Friends episode ("Random Acts of Silence") is perhaps the most murderous librarian I have ever seen in animation to-date. This not unique to this episode, as he often causes other characters to die on purpose. Despite this, he seems to die very infrequently during the run of the series.

Kaeloo is the protagonist of Kaeloo. She is the guardian of the place known as Smileyland and has an ambiguous gender. And in the episode "Let's Play at Reading Books" she acts as a librarian, attempting to shush people and get them to listen, even though this is a failure.

Sarah in Colaleo's series, Too Loud, is a new librarian who joins Sara and Desiree (going by a different name for much of the series), brought in to help out with the library. While Sara nor Desiree are big fans of her at first, they come around to her, and she becomes more of their friend as the series moves forward, helping with librarian matters.

Librarian in Totally Spies episode ("Totally Switched") is one of the most interesting librarian characters in fiction that I have ever seen. Due to a personality switcher, which switched her personality with that of a wrestler, she becomes buff and even throws a patron across the room. She is later shown listing weights and doing jump rope. Hopefully she becomes a stronger librarian and better to her librarian.

Another entry is Eztli in the Victor and Valentino episode "An Evening with Mic and Hun". In the episode, Victor and Valentino, who are in the underworld, have to get past Eztli, a skeleton librarian, who shushes them. Victor won't stand for this, while his brother, Valentino comes up with a plan. This is disregarded as the librarian is smashed by a boulder and they get the extra skeleton arm she is holding. In the episode, she is also shown putting a book on a cart and stamping a book with a past due stamp, with the fee of one soul.

One final entry is Bobby Daniels in an episode of The Ghost and Molly McGee which is aptly named "Bad Boy Bobby Daniels". In the episode, Molly, her father, and Scratch go to the Mewline Public Library to find the Bad Boy of Brighton, Bobby Daniels, to help her elderly friend. They attempt to turn Daniels "back" into a bad boy but it doesn't work and they let him stay as the librarian. Later, Bobby and Patty get together after Molly put in a false book delivery notice. Their love ends up blossoming and it seems that he is taken away from his library job.

Character Intro: Echo (Kingdom of Ichor)

Age- 18

Location- Arcadia, Olympius

Personality- A true conversationalist, she used to be a very social person. She was fond of talking amongst people- always wanting to get the last word in. Despite being a playful gossip, seemingly knowing everyone's business, she's very gentle & down-to-earth. She's currently single.

Echo is an oread, a mountain nymph. She grew up near Mt. Kithairon as an only child to her parents Ione & Isadore.

As a young girl, she made friends very easily. The earliest memory Echo has of this was when she befriended a deaf girl named Cassia during kindergarten orientation. They colored, drew pictures, and played with dolls. Echo managed to learn a few words in sign language!

Her penchant for gossip started into her tween years! She loved reading magazines (as well as collecting them), especially The Oracle Scoop! At 11 while Echo was near her home doing chalk drawings on the ground, she noticed her teacher Mrs. Vardalos leaving the house of her neighbor Eugene (who worked alongside her father in the coal mines). She watched a lot of soap operas with her mom at that point to put together what was going on. As her teacher was turning to walk away, her eyes met with Echo's. Echo quickly turned her attention back to her chalk drawings. The next day at school when the teacher held her back after class, Echo just smiled and said sweetly "It's none of my business. The mountains keep secrets." Afterschool, Echo would talk about it with her friends & at a sleepover, the whispers made their way to one of the girls' mother who then told her husband (who was a friend to Mrs. Vardalos' husband). A month later during a parent/teacher conference, the husband showed up, publicly declaring that he was divorcing her and that she was free to be a coal miner's whore.

Her favorite things to watch on TV are soap operas with her mom and late night talk shows- the latter being The Godly Hour & Agnostic Network. Echo watched her first R- rated movie called Whispers of Bliss. She & her friends blushed and giggled at all the sex scenes. This also garnered her first crush- on the lead actor Lambros Cassavetes.

During her freshman year of high school, she experienced her first kiss with a mortal guy named Aluxio. It happened at Katerina Papadakis' house party in a closet during Seven Minutes in Heaven. Echo remembers how his lips tasted like mint & the spicy smell of his aftershave.

A year later at her school's halloween dance, Echo experienced oral sex for the first time when a guy named Nikos (captain of their school's football team) went down on her in the boy's bathroom after they snuck away. Before this, they have been flirting with each other for a few weeks. She went to the dance as the Queen, Hera while he dressed up as Zeus.

Close to graduation, a video made its round round on Fatestagram of a couple having sex in Katerina Papadakis' bedroom during her end of senior year party. It was Echo & Aluxio, but she didn't want to draw attention to it. A lot of people at school thought the girl in the video was her (due to the distinctive hair clip) but Echo successfully convinced everyone that it wasn't her- saying that it was probably some other random oread.

Her go-to drink is a lemongrass ginger iced tea. She also likes watermelon sangrias, raspberry beer cocktails, and buko lychee juice.

Some of her favorite meals include spring rolls, tocino with sinangag, kare-kare with white rice, pancit guisado, and dolmadakia.

After graduation (and putting the whole video situation in the past), Echo was currently enrolled in New Olympus Community College. One day, she saw a lotto contest sign up sheet in the lobby. It was for the chance to work in a year-long internship for the King & Queen. Figuring it was a one in a million chance, she quickly dropped her name into the lotto box and went about her business. Two weeks later during her computer science class, the dean of the school came in to announce the winner- her!

Echo enjoyed the perks of her job- 30 drachmas an hour, having a private tour of the palace, working at the palace (her office being the size of her house back at home!), and even sneaking a chance at admiring the Queen's extensive closet. She enjoyed having her parents come to New Olympus to visit her, not minding their embarrassing antics as tourists. Echo became privy to a few things as well- a front row seat to the dysfunctional relationship of Zeus and Hera. She'd greet them all the same every morning when she came in for work. During her lunch break, Echo would sometimes be invited by Hera to have tea with her. She figured the Queen was lonely & didn't have many friends. She kept Hera thoroughly entertained with her juicy stories!

One day, Zeus offered Echo a "special assignment". He basically told her to lie & keep his wife company while he went to a week long conference in Lesvos when he was really gonna party it up on his yacht with nymphs and mermaids in Olympia. Echo was conflicted- she didn't want to betray the Queen, especially after they bonded. They weren't exactly BFFs, but they were friends. Hera had even gifted her a pair of teal satin peacock peep toe pumps from Luxuria as a holiday gift. So she did lie when Hera asked Echo to stay at the palace to keep her company while her husband was away on his “business trip.” For most of the week, they stayed in the Queen's bed eating ice cream and junk food while they enjoyed a rom-com movie marathon. Things hit the fan on Sunday night when Hera was tagged in a Fatestagram post made by the goddess Pheme. It was a photo of Zeus taking a shot of tequila off a mermaid's stomach while another nymph was grinding suggestively behind him. With tears in her eyes, the Queen asked "Did you know about this?" Echo couldn't lie anymore. She lowered her head in shame as she watched tears streak the Queen's beautiful dark golden brown skin. She thus left the internship, returning to school. One day while leaving The Bread Box, Echo was approached by an old woman asking for directions to the train station. as she was giving directions, Echo didn't notice till it was too late. The old woman transformed into a young beautiful slender woman with dark golden brown skin, doe shaped dark brown eyes fringed with long eyelashes, & long dark reddish brown hair. The Queen! Hera cursed Echo with only being able to repeat the last words she heard. "You will forevermore only have the last word! You won't be able to talk your way out of this!"

Echo subsequently dropped out of school, moving back home. Everyone (including her parents) wondered in worry & confusion as to why she suddenly stopped talking or why they now had to communicate with her through texting.

She still texts someone she met at the palace, the goddess Cleta.

Before the curse, she loved doing karaoke with her friends.

Now she just goes for long walks along the mountain trails, her hoodie sweater zipped up and her headphones plugged into her phone, loudly blasting music- keeping to herself.

Echo's been infatuated with Narcissus, a male model, for a while. She's too scared to follow him on Fatestagram, but is never shy about liking his posts. She has fantasized about him several times while touching herself.

She received a sympathy basket from the King, some time after her curse. Inside the basket, there was a check for one million drachmas. Echo ended up ripping the check to shreds.

She ignored him and curled more into the bed holding the heated pillow and buried more into the blankets.

"Go away Zagreus. You can stay if you're quiet. But if you start saying it doesn't matter I will throw this at you. It matters to me, its what I want. Don't you have any other lines besides it doesn't matter?"

She sniffed and cracked a smile as one of his hunting hounds began to lick her face. She slowly sat up rubbing at her eyes.

"You're not supposed to be here Mr.Snuffles."

That wasn't his name but it was much better than Isador.

Quiet, that was rather hard for him. Especially when he was nervous, especially when his emotions got the better of him. Like now, when his mate was suffering and there was nothing he could do. He wanted to soothe it away, he wanted to make her happy, but he also knew he had to respect her wishes.

He watched as his hunting hound shuffled in around the door he couldn't help but frown, he wondered how his hounds found their way inside - though he supposed they were concerned about their mistress. Quietly he moved to take a seat beside her, leaning on his knees as he watched her smile. He had missed that smile.

"Well I could always tell you, you look beautiful? But I think that will end up with a pillow in my face," he finally spoke. "And maybe you should name my next litter of hounds? I think Mr. Snuffles is much better."

Late 1901-1902

As 1902 rolled around, Isador grew from a wiggly baby...

...into a rambunctious toddler.

It was hard for Chana to keep up with him, especially when she discovered, shortly before Isador’s second birthday, that she was pregnant again. Her first pregnancy hadn’t been easy, but her second, with a toddler on the loose, was exhausting. She found herself taking long naps during the day, leaving Pesach to look after Isador whenever he wasn’t working.

As the baby’s due date approached, the Ledermans took a day trip to Brighton Beach. Pesach entertained Isador with sand castles and stories, while Chana made friends with another expectant mother.

Kitty was expecting her first child, and was more than a little nervous. Chana gave her some tips and they vowed to meet up again once their children were born.
