Now onto me ranting.

The Roo-seum is a 16 sim project that's consumed me for the last couple of days (in a good way), this explores most of Roo's lifespan (not implying he's dead LMAO), from the age of 9 years old, up to now, 28 years old, talking about what he went through for each year (for the most part anyways), of course, I didn't start at 1 or 2 years old, mainly because, way back when I made all of these Roo's (roughly back in July '23, this is not an idea that suddenly sparked, I only acted on it because I have a way to show off each age that isn't a Picrew lmao... I can't draw well so I just used TS4), I made them in Picrew, which... at the time couldn't find a Picrew with kids/babies so the youngest I went was around 9 years old, and just built up from there.

Roo is my persona gone OC, around 5 or 6 years ago, I put on this persona of "Roo", which started as "The Unfortunate Roo" and Roo's (or Mine, since this was technically a Persona, doubling as an OC) design was COMPLETELY different back then, He wasn't a he, the design was a sucubus I think, I don't really recall and I really couldn't care for it, it's embarrassing 💀 I don't remember how he came to fruition, but I remember finding this one picrew that I LOVED, and I used that picrew to create ~Roo~, his initial design was akin to the 22-23 year old Roo, there's a lot about his design that I could talk about but will avoid doing so, but just know that his Sims design isn't super on the dot to what his actual design is supposed to look like.

So... what's Piametia?? Why did you come up with that?? How did you come up with that?? To be honest, I never actually came up with a name up until yesterday when writing the note for 10-12 year old Roo, I don't really remember what sparked me to come up with a condition that "has the Patient suffer a sudden loss or gain in pigmentation and melanin in the eyes and hair," I guess 17 year old me thought it was cool, and it is! It opened up a new story for him, where I couldn't provide story (for someone without Piametia), like how being affected by Piametia caused him to go from extremely accepting of himself, to getting bullied into "normalizing himself," While he achieved this, it was really in vain, because he was still bullied for his condition, but as he grew older, out of his teen years and into adulthood, it bothered him less and less, because, well, shit like that doesn't fucking matter, sure it still bothered him, sure it still traumatized him to some degree, but it's just what some stupid kids say, it doesn't determine what his worth is, and he understands that, so after recovering from almost ending his life, he realized that something had to change, he couldn't live in this wallowing ball of agony because some kids determined "hey! That kid is different! They're no longer as cool as we are! Get him!!"

I should also mention that he didn't develop Piametia til he was around 9 years old, which is exactly what the condition does, it's genetic (although it never occurred in Reese or Virginia, the only reasonable conclusion was that it skipped a generation) and it's drilled into the person's DNA and only takes effect before puberty (in the average kid). So Roo was considered a part of the other kids' little cliques and stuff, but only until his hair and eyes changed color.

I kind of hyped this up to be something extravagant and maybe it is, idk, I don't have the eyes of the audience, I'm just a guy who made this and I have a rather critical view of my work sometimes, I try not to, but force of habit lmao. I really liked making this because Roo is an OC who has grown with me, mainly because he's both a persona of me while also being an OC, so where I change and grow, he often reflects that change and growth, in his own ways of course, I often wish he was real, but he's not and that's the harsh reality. Also gonna clarify that his life does NOT completely reflect mine, I'm only 18, he's ten years older then me lmao, where he was 8 I was 10 years to be conceived- Roo is still his own character, he's had his own relationships, all of which have went poorly (reflecting my own), and even had his own stalker (which escalated)- But parts of his life like when he became extremely homophobic of himself and who he truly was is not reflective of myself, I never had that stage in life (whether you did or not however is not a bad thing unless your actually just homophobic, then gtfo like?? 😭).

I went on a rant there, and I probably could've kept going, but figured I should stop at some point lol, but I hope you guys like this, I sure LOVED making this and I love doing Roo related things and posts. I also provided text in the image descriptions in case it's hard to read in the images (I tried to keep it as clear and readable as possible), and in case anyone who uses a screen-reader finds this post :)

You press your ear against the door as you wait for the creaky floors to quiet down as Beverly brushes past your door. You look down at your watch; 10:00 at the mark. Ever since you almost got caught being out past curfew, you vowed to never do it again, making sure to always wait exactly 30 minutes post-curfew before stepping outside your room, Beverly’s snores posing as a quiet melody of reassurance. Right as you heard her door close, you pushed away from the door, striding over to your armoire, where your (f/c) dress was hanging in front. You start to slip out of your satin pajamas as you nervously glance over to the dress.

What if something goes wrong or what if someone finds out, your mind runs. 

You can't risk getting your secret out, not with your baseball future at risk. You finish buttoning up the dress as you turn around to face the mirror. You pick up your handbag as you slowly twist open the metal doorknob. Sliding out into the dark hallway, you glide down the stairs, stepping into the non-squeaky areas of each step. You stop in front of the last obstacle; the loud front door. You hesitantly reach out for the ornate door knob and slowly twist it. Opening the door enough, you quietly slip out and speed up to a brisk walk out into the open world. But even through all your planned and careful actions, you fail to notice the figure leaning on the porch fence, smoking a cigarette. 

As you walk past the shed, you turn around to glance at the place you've called home for the last month. The home of the Rockford Peaches. Being a part of the team gave you a sense of confidence you didn’t have before, even though it wasn't as high as your teammates like Greta, Jo, or Jess. 

Jess. You didn’t know when it started. Was it when you heard her complain about screwing up at the try-outs that first night, or when you bonded over Beverly’s strict rules, or when you saw her ferocious mindset the first time you saw her? All you knew was that when you started to fall, you fell hard and fast. You had never felt like that before. Maybe the occasional pretty girl who caught your breath at school back home, but nothing like this. You couldn't let yourself live like this any longer, keeping it a secret for so long. You didn't know if you were doing this for her or yourself but you couldn't let yourself quit now. So you turned around, with a new sense of confidence as you marched towards the safe haven to figure out who you were.

Jess looked up to the sound of the front door softly closing, moving her eyes towards your figure, all dolled up. She’d always find a bit of fun in teasing you, enjoying how meek you would become as a result. Besides Carson’s late-night practices and the games, there wasn't much to do, causing her to get bored, a lot. 

As she watched you walk towards the shed, away from her eyesight, she put out her cigarette and started to follow you, curious about where you were going, past curfew may she add. Ten minutes in, she realized you were heading in the direction of the gay bar Lu and she frequented often. It didn't come as a shock to her; on multiple occasions, catching you staring at her, quickly turning away when you realized she’d seen. But a smile rose to her face as she realized it confirmed her suspicions. Maybe she'd actually have a chance.

Watching you stop, she quickly hid behind the car parked near the curb as she saw you close your eyes, breathing in deeply before you opened the door and escaped from her view. Walking back around the car, Jess made sure to take her time before making her presence known, allowing you to get comfortable before scaring you off.

As you stepped inside the building, you felt a sense of safety and love rush over you as you started walking through the hallway, pieces of art adorning the walls. Approaching the main area, you felt your heartbeat quicken, worried if you would feel welcome. Yet that worry faded away as you took in the scene. Couples mingling at the bar and dancing the night away. Sounds of joy and love filled the room, joining the lively voice and signing into the mic. You make a beeline towards the bar and slide into an empty seat. 

“Welcome to the Moxie Salon, what can I get for you sweets?” The bartender asks as you look up.

“Umm,” you start, “Could I just get a beer?”

“Sure can! Say, I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before” He adds.

“This is my first time but I don't think it’ll be my last” You finish with a smile.

The bartender mirrors your expression as he turns back around. You look around at your surroundings, feeling a sense of serenity. 

“Hey, could you make that two beers?” a familiar voice adds. 

You freeze up as you feel someone slide into the empty seat next to you. You refused to look up as you felt their burning gaze.

“What brings you here (n/n)?”

You felt your cheeks burn as you slowly met Jess’s eyes, “I-” you started to sputter.

“Hey,” She reassures you, “Your secret is safe with me”, mockingly zipping her lips and throwing away the key.

“Besides,” she adds, “You’re not alone. You’re just like me- just like all of them”.

You give her a grateful smile as the two beers slid towards you. Both of you take a sip as you enjoyed each other's space quietly, Jess breaks the silence a few minutes later: “Am I the first one to figure it out?”

“I hope s-” you stop, “Wait, what do you mean figure it out? Was it obvious?”

Seeing your nervous expression, she lightly chuckles before adding: “Not really, just the many times I’ve caught you staring or how you react when I’m near you” she finishes, bumping your shoulder jokingly.

“I’m so sorry, it’s just that being away from home, it felt like a lot of things suddenly clicked”

“Don’t be sorry. Besides, I enjoyed it”, Jess teased you as she hopped off the seat and nodded towards an empty table.

You follow her lead, pulling out the wooden chair and sitting down. Jess lit a cigarette as you guys would spend the next hour talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's presence; a haven away from the strict rules that run society outside. As The night begins to slow down, people filtering out of the warmly-lit room, Jess stands from her chair, putting out the cigarette before holding her hand out to you, helping you stand up. 

“You ready to head out?”

“Yeah,” you mutter as you stare at each other, soft smiles gracing each face.

And yet as you weaved through the smaller crowd, never once did she let go, only moving to rest her arm around your shoulders once you stepped outside into the cool Chicagoan night breeze. Your feet fell into a similar pattern as you felt her warmth encase you like a warm blanket. Butterflies filled your stomach as you felt her grip tightening and loosen up on you periodically. 

As the house came into sight, you feel yourself deflate, not wanting to end the night. And as she led you up the stairs, she stopped in front of the door, turning to face you. She looks down as she grabs your other hand and looks back up to meet your eyes.

“I had a lot of fun tonight and I’m glad I got to finally meet the real you”

“Maybe we could do it again sometime?” you hopefully add.

Jess replies with a sweet kiss to your cheek, smirking as she sees your expression, “I’d love to”, turning back around to walk through the door;

You smile to yourself before following her, watching as she walks up the steps before disappearing into her and Greta’s shared room. You slowly make your way back to your room before slipping out of your dress and back into your pajamas and falling into your bed, passing out with dreams replaying the night over and over again; Jess’s plaited hair and the cigarette behind her ear seared in your brain till the morning and for many nights to come.

Maybe your dreams weren't impossible after all.

Do you knows how tempted I am to draw a full Rolling Stones Magazine cover of Hobie and Diane

DiscoPunk with huge headlines of them being a genre-defying musical powerhouse

and then writing a full length article from the perspective of as fake reporter interviewing them for their new EP, their second release that's freshly certified platinum (not that they care they're so cool right)

The interviewer asking them questions and they reply as if they were the ones who wrote and performs the songs on the accompanying Spotify playlist I make of songs I pretend they produced

Like the song BRAT by Chrissy Chlapecka is track 4 and the interviewer is like 'that songs a lot more experimental than the others on the EP - what's the story behind that song?'

And Hobies like 'Oh that's a song we wrote together when a guy was bothering Diane at the club so we wrote a song about how he's a dickhead.'

And Dianes like 'i like that one cause there hook is a chop and remixed melody that Hobie was strumming one night. Metro[Spider] Boomin helped produce that one'

And the interviewer describes how they perform and what they're wearing and their demeanor. They talk about their short UK tour and their fans it's Diane and Hobie being adorable rising-rock-stars and undefined lovebirds

Mind you THIS IS STILL IN THE 70S SO IT'S EXTRA COOL

The interviewer is like 'There's been rumors about DiscoPunk being the UK's Eurovision stars - any truth to that'

RATING TR FITS PT. 2 BC AGAIN WHY NOTTT!!!

In (very dim)light of the new ep and them animating one of my fav panels of izana i am back

#7 i almost hate that im putting it this low bc he bodied this. Very keisuke esp w the crosses on it and that hes biting the bandage stop 😭😭 anyways i love the platforms sm. I do see the overall style as very bajicoded but also i feel like it should be a darker blue?? Either way he looks handsome 8.5/10 -1.5 for color scheme

#8 the crop top sent me into another dimension. No further comments(lie). Love the color scheme sm it matches his eyes perfectly. Such a cutie and the DOLPHINS AHHH. I love his hair like this. I also noticed the gears which was also on shinichiros fit which PLOT AF love to see it. Simple yet elegant, effective. I would maybe say 8/10 bc it is a little basic but it works very well for captain outlaw and his overall style

#9 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE TW SNOWFLAKES UGH. im sick. Color scheme is so good and the sandals are cute. HOWEVER. i cant w the pose. Whenever wakui does this in his arts it throws me off sm it just looks so dumb IM SORRY!!! Gives me pants down over buttcheeks walking at a 90° angle vibes and it looks ridiculous. I love chifuyu but 7.5/10 -2.5 for pose

#10 okay, do not get me wrong i like it but i think that there are many better oa’s of mikey. Im not a huge fan of the outer coat but i do love the inner part of the coat and how they contrast each other. This one is just not my favorite. I would say probably 6/10 for blandness

#11 im sorry but there is rly nothing abt this that i like. I think the shoes would be cool on their own but they dont match w the rest of the outfit. I dont think the colors match well w draken either, i see him as more like yellow/orange/red i guess?? I would argue again that there are much better oa’s of him and im just not a fan!! Also the pose and bandage placements. I WILL give bonus points bc i do like the dragons. I feel like its at least a little more creative than mikeys. Probably 5.5-6/10 bc i dont think this looks like draken’s style at all besides the dragons on it.

while people are on the topic of finn, a little appreciation for our will byers' actor! noah!

i feel like he could have turned out like a model or something, if you see when he was younger, he was all in proportion and like very pretty boy, a traditional, good looking young man. but now thats he's older and grown into his features a little more - he's not entirely there, that wont happen until they finish growing at like 25 ish, but he is more oddly proportioned now in a nice way. he's EVER so slightly chubbier. he's also mega goofy, but in a different way to finn (although not THAT different actually). he gets away with it more cos he's still handsome in a traditional western way except for the obvious jewish features that im sure lots of bigots hate (see all the toxic milevens on twitter). his teeth are kinda goofy but also cute, but it's his smile that does it. it's kind of contained and shy, down-turned as though he has internalised not wanting to smile too widely, or perhaps just feeling shy and bashful when he's happy. which is VERY will. i think they are more similar than he let's on tbh. i think he's secretly a shy one, just like when he was a kid.

whereas finn seems to burst with light and laughter, then sudddenly realise he's in public and become self conscious again, and his face just turns sour af lmaooooo bless him

mad props to the casting director tbh - these are two performers with faces that are endlessly mesmerising, and acting skills to match. i feel so grateful to be watching their portrayals of this story unfold in real time. the fact that it may break new ground is a bonus, but even if fit doesn't, i've had a ball for the past couple of years! if nothing else, having their first adult scene together could work wonders for their professional confidence. if i was a pro actor, i would love to do an intimate scene with a close friend of mine, we would have a ball and the trust would be unreal.

and lastly, here's a funny little story...

years before i joined the fandom proper in 2022, when s2 was just coming out, my friend (who was very mainstream) showed me some pictures of a photoshoot with noah and finn. we were in our early 20s, fresh from college and no clue what to do with life. and my friend showed me this black and white photoshoot on insta (i think its the one noah recently posted to show his excitement of working with finn again for finn's birthday?), and she was quiet as i looked, waiting to hear what i would say.

and i was like... they look....

*massive pause while I look at her, incredulous and mildly disturbed*

and she said '... hot.'

and I was like YES, WTFFFFFFF

and she was like WTFFFFFF

and we were so uncomfortable and confused! they were young teens! but the fact that it was my mainstream friend who had literally just discovered the 80s through this show, who had a first class English degree from Edinburgh university, who had just started working at a prestigious publishing house in the city, who had a rather gorgeous boyfriend... i mean she was the most down-the-line person you ever met. and i was just so surprised and grateful she had trusted me to say this, and we proceeded to discuss wtf was going on.

basically - photoshoots, esp when the cast were teens, kind of passively sexualised them. im not talking explicit, but rather encouraging pensive brooding stares and poses that are something you would see in a couture magazine. they looked older because they werent smiling, and were emulating these poses that adult men would do.

on top of that, finn esp really reminded me of the first boy i ever had a proper crush on at 13. i remember it so clearly because its not the hair or the skin or whatever superficial stuff, but rather his expressions and attitude (and the freckles). finn, when younger, had this arrogant (and therefore irresistible) teen boy vibe which exactly matched this boy i fell in love with at 13. i realise now that thats all probably from a place of insecurity on finn + the boy's part, but even at 22 sitting in this cafe with my friend, browsing insta innocently, i could remember exactly what it was like to be 13 and my heart was just beating. whenever i think of that crush on that boy, i am 13 again. i am not a grown woman perving on a young boy. i am 13.

so i think, maybe, thats how many of us here connect with spicy byler tumblr.

and now, of course, watching them grow up on my screen (having rejoined the fandom post s4) has been a very... interesting experience for me. i think byler sex discussion on here speaks volumes about how we are all from different walks of life. if i wasn't an art major who has literally been drawing naked bodies from life since I was 16 at school, and a psychology student, i might not understand how to discuss all this stuff. as it is, i've got too much emotional education under my belt, and i know how to embrace my shadow self as long as im not hurting myself or anyone else. (vecna would take one look at me and say NOPE lol.)

Even though your story is related to Finn IRL, I'd say a part of writing/reading a story is putting yourself in the shoes of the characters and seeing things from their eyes. And that includes temporarily "becoming 13 again" (or becoming the age of the characters you're exploring). And that's not creepy. It's just a part of the process. Art itself is messy and psychologically layered.

A lot of Bylers seem to believe the Duffers would be creepy for including a sex scene in S5, even with the characters aged up, because they watched Finn and Noah (and by extension Mike and Will) grow up. But really, it's all a part of them engaging with the coming-of-age themes they've set up and "becoming 17 again" to properly tell this story how it's meant to be told, wherever that journey takes them. And in the context of a gay coming-of-age tale, it just might include sexual exploration and discovery. *Gasps*

I personally make the cities the IlliYork kids for convenience sake, so

NYC and Chicago are the main reason the banned words list keeps expanding.

They have petty arguments over everything

But theyre the closest in age so they try and get along when they can.

The illinois kids have big opinons and even bigger mouths, so they usually come out victorious in family fueds (mostly because the york kids get tired of that shit real fast and dont have the patience to argue)

Theyre a very close knit group but they tend to confide in their own side more often than not. I feel like they grow out of it as they get older though.

I feel like illinois makes them get family photos.

All the kids except like upstate NY and Peoria, Springfied, and Aurora mildly dislike/violently hate it

On the HATE scale its mostly NY kids bcs their family photos are mostly candid shots and so they dont have to pose or wear matching outfits.

I feel like chicago has a midwestern accent. Like how can they not? But they never speak in it and it only slips if theyre embarrased. The others enjoy flustering them just so they can record it.

When the kids have a shared intrest, they will beg to be drowned in merch. Mostly bcs if they have sb who ALSO enjoys it, they feel less awkward repping it.

I love older sibling chicago so uhhh, they pick up their baby siblings and just swing em around and then tosses em on a soft surface, like a lot. They also do it just to carry them around.

It's because doll companies are so preoccupied with adding way more detail simply because we have technology to garner it and it keeps costs down the more we remove humans from the process.

A doll in the 70s has like, a very simplistic face due to the manufacturing limitations and such, plus you can always see a human touch of imperfect in the clothing and sculpting. The clothing is made from fabric real people use and often approximates it but in a very Doll Like way. A lot of toy manufacturing in the 20th century had a lot of human oversight into every aspect because we didnt have the ability to automate it.

But a doll nowadays? Thanks to digital art, new technologies, automated processes and such you often get dolls who reach the uncanny valley cuz they far too many eyelashes and too much teeth and perfectly symmetrical sculpting and bits and pieces that dont quite match up cuz the 3d sculptor is reusing the same models in different ways and so the stylistic choices don't quite match up. The poses don't have quite the human touch that older dolls have cuz of how removed from reality they are. The clothes feel like a parody of dolls clothing and are so far removed from what people would actually create and wear in real life they don't even look like clothes. Dolls' hair is so simple and unstyled nowadays compared to the 90s because that requires real humans to style them so that's another element of reality gone.

I love M3gan's design because it feels like what happens when you let technology dictate how a doll should look, so things are too perfect, too far removed from real life yet she's been focus grouped to death in her appearance to be this unsettling blob of plastic that is mostly pleasant to look at.

i'm sure this is what you were going for with your imagery (which def brings this imagery to life) , but this also makes me think of the tik tok trends of people sharing pics of their parents from the 90s, or getting their photos done at vintage studios. the funny but sweet poses of people standing together in y2k clothes in front of colorful backgrounds. OR even prom pictures, with the silly background drapes hehehe.

also imagining having some 90s love song being your + deku's SONG. like the song you always dance together to in the kitchen, that your kids make faces at🥺

and they're definitely cute, just like u say! either dressed up in all the cute little tracksuits you can find or in daddy's nice hero merch and similar big, chunky sneakers. or maybe u even buy them jelly sandals to match the color beads and clips in their hair... so nostalgic :(
