#they should invent a grad school thats not fucking insane #i'm hanging in there but im the most unwell i've been in AWhile #this week was just horrible #there was already the freezer food incident but it also started off with a very severe pain episode thats putting me in constant woe #even mundane motion has been agonizing which is McAwesome bc we had a lab inspection which involved moving hundreds of pounds of equipment #during which we found a blackwidow and rats which we had to deal with and was a whole thing psychologically on top of the physical toll #the new class fiasco is still popping off and i had to respond to at this point over 400 emails in the fleeting moments outside of lab #AND A STUDENT TRIED TO FINANCIALLY BRIBE THEIR WAY INTO THE CLASS ? ?? ?? ????? #then the instructor wanted to use me as a guinea pig and i had to test new circuit boards but I wasnt given any time to do so properly #i had to test them plus get them operational and deal with my incoming students all in a frantic 10 minute window #im in charge of running our meetings too but the instructor was interrupting and having side conversations that made it really hard- #to train the other people on the new equipment in a smooth manner #which meant that a bunch of people had to keep me after to ask questions which made me late for my drs appointment #where i found out i cant get the new covid vaccine bc my heart and blood levels arnt stable enough #and joanns lost an expensive+critical fabric order of mine+i had to give a big presentation this week on my research that was stressful #and my inbox is still blowing up from being needed all over the place between teaching lab and classes and yall i am. so so tired. #im in so much pain and so stressed out #debating the ethics of turning into a pile of lint to escape my responsibilities and mortal frame

Lately, ever since he’s started cyber-stalking and obsessing over you, Jade’s wanted to get into photography. It would be nice to develop these photos the old way: in a dark room where he must be precise and careful with handling every fragile photograph. Jade photographs a lot of nature, often things he comes across on his walks and hikes. Mushrooms. Trees. Leaves. Flowers. Unique stones or moss growing contrary. He photographs insects: a line of ants leading to an anthill, butterflies swarming blossoms, a caterpillar coming free from its cocoon. He likes the familiar weight of a camera in his hands. He likes being the one behind the lens, peering through at what’s seen with the camera, as if the world that lies beyond it is merely a portrait someone’s painted.

He wants to learn where you live, the places you frequent, what building the company you’re signed to works out of so that he may hopefully have a chance to capture candid photographs of you—things that no one but him will ever see. Intimate sides he will preserve within a picture.

Jade photographs potential locations deep within the forest. He captures the stages of death in permanence: the horrified countenance of your lover when they realize he’s holding a knife in his hand, the aftermath of a brutal slaughter, the perfectly, methodically dismembered corpse with all of its parts packaged in plastic and aligned in a grave dug deep, the mound of soil that soon covers the evidence, and the beautifully rare flowers or tree saplings he plants directly above the body.

Jade develops these photos in the makeshift dark room in his apartment. They’re well-done, but that’s how all of his work is. Eerily flawless. Recently, he learned where you live. It took some digging and lots of patience, but he’s good at uncovering forbidden things. When the time comes to take you, he’ll have to bring his camera along. He’d love to see what expressions he can photograph when he catches you by surprise. And he anticipates every photo will be far better than any of the previous ones he’s taken. After all, they’ll contain you and the raw, beautiful emotions you’ll show him. That’s something he’ll never be able to find in the average magazine.

My favorite aspect of "nature vs nurture" with Dark Urge is what it's both why Durge was Like That.

It was both nature (a pureblood bhaalspawn) and nurture (Sceleritas and Bhaal's teachings).

Durge was born into their role of prodigal murderer AND nurtured into it.

Which makes the defying Bhaal so much interesting because at the beginning of the game it's a battle against nature (dark urge) but the lack of previous teachings. So Durge is a clean slate trying to battle their very own origin.

And after the temple, after Durge defying Bhaal and being resurrected, it...reverses.

Because there is no dark urge in them anymore, no Bhaal's unholy blood.

BUT there's nurture. The glimpses of the memories of the person they once were, the eerie familiarity of it, body and mind acting without thought and slipping into old habits. Most of Durge's memories are lost, but they have recovered enough for their raising and past habits to affect them now. And so it's a battle against nurture now, to be different than you used to be, was raised to be.

if toh s3 had a full 20 episodes i wonder what the acrostic would have been. definitely something about luz. s1 focused on eda’s baggage and backstory, so the acrostic was about her. as was the code in the background of each episode, being about the parallel between the clawthorne sisters and the wittebane brothers. s2 focused on the same with king, so the acrostic and code were about him and the history of the titans and collectors. and now s3 is obviously heavily focused on luz’s baggage and what her homelife was like with camila. im sure they would have gone into it even more if they had more episodes. i wonder if they would have explored more of the human world and that would have been what the code was about. or maybe it would have been about luz’s found family.

you try to cause problems and get them to think your too much work but they just think your escape attempts are cute. the other acolytes do not.

you are constantly causing problems for them n bullying them but they can't do anything bc your favored by Darling.

also reader constantly trying to bite darling + the tsaritsa when their being affectionate but they just think your play biting bc its like being stabbed by a wet noodle. keep doing it long enough and they'll start biting back though. gonna walk out looking like you just got mauled

also darling only letting you feed from them or the tsaritsa. they say it's bc you deserve only the best of the best, but your 99% sure it's because their blood, and the tsaritsa's to a lesser extent, makes you drowsy and docile. it's addicting too.

you managed to run away a total of once, and the moment you tried to drink any blood other then theirs, it made you sick.

so now you just angrily seethe in darlings palace while they coo about how cute it is when you pout. everything you do is cute to them. biting?? just play bites. your fangs aren't even strong enough to break their skin, and theirs are so much bigger then yours. they just find it adorable. most of all they find your blood drunken state directly after feeding adorable too. they get to pamper you and be as affectionate as they please without you biting and twisting about. if you drink darlings blood, doubly so, as you seek out affection. nuzzling into their palms and being so sweet for them..
