Extra American and British this week
Promiňte, I'm posting a little late. I think all the traveling has been catching up to me tbh... but more on my trip later.
The week was a bit of a mishmash of events. Our program in Prague has done a really good job of providing a range of extracurricular activities. They even hired a yoga instructor to give us weekly lessons. I'm a casual yogi, and my back has been aching from I don't even know what, so the first session was a super great way to unwind. I also had fun watching everyone else learn yoga poses. It's definitely not a skill that comes immediately if you've never done it before (unfortunately no picture proof but maybe next time lol)
There were also a lot of professors and staff from various American universities visiting this week to learn about the program, since we are essentially the guinea pigs for the first year. It was a little strange to be observed in class and then cornered for questions, but I can understand where they're coming from. I mean I kind of jumped into this experience blind, so I'm sure they want the most context as possible for their students. I'm actually a Marketing Intern for the program, so I got this fancy name tag, pictured below, for our evening speaker event. Not going to lie, did not do much networking since my professional battery was rather drained from the observation and questions earlier in the day. However, I did find both speakers to have interesting stories and paths to how they reached the Tech Sector. And another plus is the chlebíčky, I mean just look at how delicious they are.

For the weekend trip to London, I learned how to use public transit to get to the airport for the first time! Public transportation is pretty easy and cheap to begin with. I think my 3 month pass cost around $60, and I use the buses, trams, and metro all the time to travel around the city. As a heads up you don't need to scan anything to get on or off (there's places to validate tickets if you get a paper ticket), but officials will occasionally appear and ask to see a valid ticket. Anyway, my other travels have all been by bus or train; both stations are within a 20 minute tram ride. Getting to the airport took much longer. The metro station closest to our apartment is currently closed for construction, so we took the tram, then the metro, and then a bus. A little complicated in terms of transfers and it takes close to an hour, but everything is easily followable and generally on time.

I feel like I've constantly needed to use phrases in other languages and ask people if they speak English, so arriving in London and seeing all English signs was shocking at first. I enjoyed fitting in... for the most part at least because I'm pretty sure anyone would be able to tell that I'm not British when I open my mouth lmao
Since I'd been to London before and also had Michigan friends in town, I split my time between touristy things and just exploring the city. Our walking tour was a stark contrast from the one in Berlin. It had much more drama and entertainment value as we learned about all the crazy dynamics of the royal family and random stories tied to various landmarks. That being said, the architecture is beautiful. Not just the monuments like Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and Westminster Abbey, but even the more modern or contemporary buildings closer to the city center.

Also discovered the abundance of good food especially at food markets within the city. Mercato Metropolitano, Borough Market, and Seven Dials Market are fantastic if anyone's looking for recs. I definitely want to see if similar places exist in Prague because I suck at deciding what to eat and they just have an abundance of options.
I ended up getting food with both my umich friends and my friend who studied abroad at Michigan last year. And it felt so comforting to catch up with them. I don't think I realized home much I missed Ann Arbor and my friends in general. Meeting new people and experiencing different cultures still excites me, but I think it's necessary to keep in touch with what home is like too.

London was a great reset: somewhere I would return to for sure. I'm traveling without my roommates for the first time next weekend (which is going to be a change of pace). Additionally, I actually started doing two things I never thought I would, so keep an eye out for that next time!

BY ANITA SIRCARAUG. 17, 2021 9:28 AM PT
My patient sat at the edge of his bed gasping for air while he tried to tell me his story, pausing to catch his breath after each word. The plastic tubes delivering oxygen through his nose hardly seemed adequate to stop his chest from heaving. He looked exhausted.
He had tested positive for the coronavirus 10 days ago. He was under 50, mildly hypertensive but otherwise in good health. Eight days earlier he started coughing and having severe fatigue. His doctor started him on antibiotics. It did not work.
Fearing his symptoms were worsening, he started taking some hydroxychloroquine he had found on the internet. It did not work.
He was now experiencing shortness of breath while doing routine daily activities such as walking from his bedroom to the bathroom or putting on his shoes. He was a shell of his former self. He eventually made his way to a facility where he could receive monoclonal antibodies, a lab-produced transfusion that substitutes for the body’s own antibodies. It did not work.
He finally ended up in the ER with dangerously low oxygen levels, exceedingly high inflammatory markers and patchy areas of infection all over his lungs. Nothing had helped. He was getting worse. He could not breathe. His wife and two young children were at home, all infected with COVID. He and his wife had decided not to get vaccinated.
Last year, a case like this would have flattened me. I would have wrestled with the sadness and how unfair life was. Battled with the angst of how unlucky he was. This year, I struggled to find sympathy. It was August 2021, not 2020. The vaccine had been widely available for months in the U.S., free to anyone who wanted it, even offered in drugstores and supermarkets. Cutting-edge, revolutionary, mind-blowing, lifesaving vaccines were available where people shopped for groceries, and they still didn’t want them.
Outside his hospital door, I took a deep breath — battening down my anger and frustration — and went in. I had been working the COVID units for 17 months straight, all day, every day. I had cared for hundreds of COVID patients. We all had, without being able to take breaks long enough to help us recover from this unending ordeal. Compassion fatigue was setting in. For those of us who hadn’t left after the hardest year of our professional lives, even hope was now in short supply.
Shouting through my N95 mask and the noise of the HEPA filter, I introduced myself. I calmly asked him why he decided not to get vaccinated.
“Well, I’m not an anti-vaxxer or anything. I was just waiting for the FDA to approve the vaccine first. I didn’t want to take anything experimental. I didn’t want to be the government’s guinea pig, and I don’t trust that it’s safe,” he said.
“Well,” I said, “I can pretty much guarantee we would have never met had you gotten vaccinated because you would have never been hospitalized. All of our COVID units are full and every single patient in them is unvaccinated. Numbers don’t lie. The vaccines work.”
This was a common excuse people gave for not getting vaccinated, fearing the vaccine because the Food and Drug Administration had only granted it emergency-use authorization so far, not permanent approval. Yet the treatments he had turned to, antibiotics, monoclonal antibodies and hydroxychloroquine were considered experimental, with mixed evidence to support their use.
The only proven lifesaver we’ve had in this pandemic is a vaccine that many people don’t want. A vaccine we give away to other countries because supply overwhelms demand in the U.S. A vaccine people in other countries stand in line for hours to receive, if they can get it at all.
“Well,” I said, “I am going to treat you with, remdesivir, which only recently received FDA approval.” I explained that it had been under an EUA for most of last year and had not been studied or administered as widely as COVID-19 vaccines. That more than 353 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in the U.S. along with more than 4.7 billion doses worldwide without any overwhelming, catastrophic side effects. “Not nearly as many doses of remdesivir have been given or studied in people and its long-term side effects are still unknown,” I said. “Do you still want me to give it to you?”
“Yes” he responded, “Whatever it takes to save my life.”
It did not work.
My patient died nine days later from a fatal stroke. We, the care team, reconciled this loss by telling ourselves: He made a personal choice not to get vaccinated, not to protect himself or his family. We did everything we could with what we had to save him. This year, this tragedy, this unnecessary, entirely preventable loss, was on him.
The burden of this pandemic now rests on the shoulders of the unvaccinated. On those who are eligible to get vaccinated, but choose not to, a decision they defend by declaring, “vaccination is a deeply personal choice.” But perhaps never in history has anyone’s personal choice impacted the world as a whole as it does right now. When hundreds and thousands of people continue to die, when the most vulnerable members of society, our children, cannot be vaccinated — the luxury of choice ceases to exist.
If you believe the pandemic is almost over and you can ride it out, without getting vaccinated, you could not be more wrong. This virus will find you.
If you believe I’ll just wait until the FDA approves the vaccine first, you may not live to see the day.
If you believe if I get infected I’ll just go to the hospital and get treated, there is no guarantee we can save your life, nor even a promise we’ll have a bed for you.
If you believe I’m pregnant and I don’t want the vaccine to affect me, my baby or my future fertility, it matters little if you’re not alive to see your newborn.
If you believe I won’t get my children vaccinated because I don’t know what the long-term effects will be, it matters little if they don’t live long enough for you to find out.
If you believe I’ll just let everyone else get vaccinated around me so I don’t have to, there are 93 million eligible, unvaccinated people in the “herd” who think the same way you do and are getting in the way of ending this pandemic.
If you believe vaccinated people are getting infected anyway so what’s the point?, the vaccine was built to prevent hospitalizations and deaths from severe illness. Instead of fatal pneumonia, those with breakthrough infections have a short, bad cold, so the vaccine has already proved itself. The vaccinated are not dying from COVID-19.
SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, has mutated countless times during this pandemic, adapting to survive. Stacked up against a human race that has resisted change every step of the way — including wearing masks, social distancing, quarantining and now refusing lifesaving vaccines — it is easy to see who will win this war if human behavior fails to change quickly.
The most effective thing you can do to protect yourself, your loved ones and the world, is to GET VACCINATED.
And it will work.

Medical 2 and 7
Here you are lovely. Thank you so much for your patience with me on this. I really hope that you enjoy this one.
This is more of a medical Taron!AU.
The bold writing are the prompts.
===
It was earlier than she expected when her husband woke up to get himself ready for work. It was still pitch black out and Cherry groaned at that.
“Why so early?” She whined as she threw the covers over her head.
“Because it was the only day I could get my practicum in. I’m sorry” Taron answered as he re-entered their bedroom.
“I know but it still sucks.” Cherry mumbled.
Taron chuckled at how she was concealed under the covers. The only thing visible was her face.
“Are you comfortable?” He asked, pulling on a clean pair of boxers and a fresh pair of scrubs.
“I’d be more comfortable if you’d hide under here with me.” Cherry replied, sounding like a pouting child.
“I’m sorry my angel but I promise that once today is done, we can hide under the covers all we want.” Taron offered, making Cherry squint at him in thought.
“Fine.” She said finally.
“I have to go but promise me that you’ll show up. I really need you.” He announced, standing up and walking toward the bedroom door.
“I promise to show up and be the best fake patient that you’ve ever had.” Cherry answered as she sat up and crossed her heart.
“Thank you babe.” He replied.
“Don’t forget your lunch.” Cherry called.
Taron had been so caught up in not being late that, even though he had heard her, he still forgot his food.
=
A few hours later, Cherry found herself walking into the building where her husband was doing his training for medical school. Of course she had figured out that Taron had indeed forgotten his lunch so she made sure to bring it with her.
“Hey Cherry, how are you?” Amy, the receptionist, greeted.
“I’m good thanks Amy. How are you?” The woman said as she stopped for a quick minute to sign in.
“Eh, can’t complain. Are you here for Taron?” Amy asked as she typed away on her computer keyboard.
“I sure am. I’m hoping that he aces this.” Cherry replied.
“I’ve heard some of the professors say that Taron is one of the top students.” Amy admitted, making Cherry beam with pride.
“Thank you for telling me that. That will make him feel good.” Cherry said thankfully. “I better go though or I’m sure Taron will start panicking.” She concluded before waving and heading off to where all the visiting ‘patients’ were supposed to wait for their cue to come in.
When she got to the waiting area, she saw Taron standing with his back to her. She knew that he was most likely panicking due to the fact that he didn’t see her waiting for him.
Cherry decided that it would be funny to scare him.
She snuck up behind him and slapped his bum, making him gasp and jump. He turned around so fast and he let out a relieved breath when he saw that it was only his wife.
“Hey there, you gave me quite a scare.” He said before wrapping his arms around her.
Cherry couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction. She had to admit that she wasn’t expecting anything quite like that. The look on his face was actually priceless.
“Hi baby.” She said through her laughter.
“Thank you for being my guinea pig.” He whispered before planting a small kiss to the side of her neck.
“You’re welcome. I also brought your lunch with me.” She replied.
“Thank you.” Taron answered sheepishly.
“Are you ready to stick me?” Cherry teased.
“I’d rather stick you with something else.” Taron said quietly.
“You ace this and you can stick me all night long.” She replied with a wink.
Taron blushed and nodded.
“Yes mamn.” He said, kissing her lips sweetly.
=
Taron watched nervously as his wife settled herself on the hospital bed.
“You’ll be great. Trust yourself.” Cherry said as she saw the look of fear in Taron’s eyes.
He gave her a small but grateful smile.
Cherry couldn’t have prouder of him. He took the time to explain what he was doing and from what she could tell, Taron was doing brilliantly.
He made sure to keep Cherry’s mind off of what he was doing as he knew that she wasn’t keen on needles or any of the tools that he had to use.
Taron’s instructor was quite impressed with how Cherry was reacting to everything that Taron was doing. He could see that Cherry wasn’t comfortable with certain things but that’s when Taron would ask her questions or strike up small talk about the weather or whatever came to his mind.
The instructor had full confidence in his student and was happy to give him a pass.
“I’m just going to inspect your work and once I have, you may go and we will see you on monday.” The instructor explained to Taron who nodded and stepped back.
Taron watched with bated breath as everything he had done was being looked over.
“Very well done Mr. Egerton. And just between you and me, I’m giving you a pass.” The man said with a nod of approval.
“Thank you sir.” Taron said, trying to remain professional.
The man smiled and removed everything that Taron had to his wife before letting the couple leave for the day.
=
Later that night as Cherry and Taron laid in bed in post coital bliss, the woman grunted in annoyance.
“What?” Taron asked with concern.
“I forgot to do one thing while you were taking your test.” She replied, really wanting to kick herself.
“Oh god, do I even want to know?” Taron questioned, cringing slightly.
“I was only going to tease you.” She admitted, sitting up.
“Tell me what you were going to do.” Taron said with a raised brow.
“This medicine makes me feel so out of it.” She whined dramatically with the back of her hand against her forehead, falling back beside her husband with a giggle.
Taron laughed at her antics.
“You really are ridiculously silly.” He said as he pulled her into his arms.
“Yes but that’s why you married me.” Cherry whispered through a soft giggle.
She was right, he loved everything about her. Her sense of humor included.

Nothing is going right today.
First I had a recheck appointment that I saw initially last week that was supposed to be easy - either send it home healthy, or switch antibiotic. But I hadn’t written down in my notebook which antibiotic we had already used and the file was nowhere to be found this morning, so I looked stupid when I guessed the wrong antibiotic in rounds (it’s a guinea pig so I had a 33% chance of getting it right and I guessed wrong).
Then I got handed two appointments that were supposed to be someone else’s so I had not prepared for them and didn’t have time to read the files before they came in, so I made the clinician look stupid when she asked the owner if the rabbit was spayed (potentially if she was intact it could be causing one of the issues) and the owner said “Yeah, she was spayed here.”
Then we had a different rabbit that belongs to one of the small animal internists that wasn’t my case but I had volunteered to run anesthesia on it. We gave it a very low, very standard dose of pre-meds in the epaxial muscles (intramuscular). My clinician insisted that I a) fully bury the needle once I found my landmarks and b) not retract after insertion, because apparently fussing around with the placement of the needle is stressful enough for a rabbit to cause issues. So I found the landmarks, confirmed with the clinician where I should go, buried the needle, didn’t retract, and just gave the injection. The rabbit went down very quickly (was almost immediately “out” rather than requiring 5-10 minutes for sedation) and went into respiratory arrest with cardiac arrest shortly thereafter. We did CPR, epinephrine, manual ventilation, and pressors for over an hour before calling it. Realistically I know that being “out” within 30 seconds of pre-med administration is probably unrelated to the location of administration, and when the rabbit jerked when he was stuck it bent my needle which is a strong indication that I was in the muscle, but I worry of course that I stuck the spinal cord or kidney rather than the muscle. The clinician is convinced that there was something going on with the rabbit to cause it to react to the meds that way, but the intern suspects that I gave the meds wrong.
Then I got in trouble because I had a very interesting, rare case last week and had been discussing it with some experts that wrote the papers I was using as reference for treatment. I asked the clinician if I could share bloodwork results and radiographs as the other experts were asking for them. He wasn’t mad but said I shouldn’t be discussing cases with people outside the hospital because the school will get mad at me and that they don’t even let interns or residents discuss cases in places like VIN, and I’m just upset that my school has policies that force me to halt my learning and curiosity that might just help save an animal and result in a really interesting case study to publish.
Then, one of my riding instructor’s long-time students was having her last riding lesson before moving to college out of state. She had invited me to come and let me know that it was going to be an hour earlier than the normal Tuesday lesson because they wanted to have a cookout afterward. I got there at the prescribed time and she and her best barn buddy were already halfway through the lesson. They hadn’t told me they moved it up an additional half-hour. Any other day, I could’ve tacked up my lesson horse and taken a lesson after they were done, but since there was the cookout to be had, I wasn’t going to be able to ride so I decided to go home and sleep/study for boards rather than wait around for them to be done and attend the cookout. Box mac n cheese isn’t nearly as good as burgers and cake but I’m not going to spend time with people that don’t care enough about me to let me know plans have changed or even at least apologize that they forgot to tell me once they saw me arrive and then leave less than 5 minutes later.
Ugh. Hopefully tomorrow is better.

𝐆𝐈𝐍 & 𝐀𝐈𝐙𝐄𝐍: 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐃𝐘𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐂 - part one
Tumblr media
Gin has never bowed to Aizen----not even once----as a testament to the pair viewing one another as equals as opposed to one the leader and the other the subordinate. Though Aizen declares that he’s “seen no one other than Gin as his lieutenant” certain translations suggest that “co-commander” is a better-suited word choice that also aligns with Gin’s officially-given title stated in character information sheets. Gin does not bow, he serves instead as the right hand of the new aspiring god.
Gin can be observed acting with complete autonomy, and in certain scenarios even despite Aizen’s disagreement with a particular action. The traitor goes unpunished and unreprimanded for his actions or verbal wrongs whereas other subordinates, even ‘ high-ranked favorites’ of Aizen, are punished, scolded, threatened, or even killed for the trouble. There’s an understood level of fear that Aizen has wielded towards his subordinates at some point during their duration serving him, whilst Gin remains seemingly exempt.
That’s not to say Gin never feared Aizen. Gin confesses, both directly and in indirect moments (his speech to Ichigo during the Winter War about the futility of trying to stop Aizen) to acknowledging how simply terrifying the rising god could be. But Gin’s fears come from respect, something mutual between them, as even Aizen ultimately uses the fear Gin’s power inspired in him to fuel his ascension to a higher being.
It took several decades for Gin to earn his place alongside Aizen.
Tumblr media
We’re shown a young child-aged Gin standing across from Aizen, adorned with the Fifth Division haori, in the context of when Aizen told Gin Kyoka Suigetsu’s weakness. In that context, it’s implied via Gin’s wording that “it took (a decade) to finally get that little piece of information out of you.” This wasn’t Aizen just randomly telling Gin a secret on a sunny day beneath the shade, no, Gin had proven himself worthy, and all but pressed the issue----finally earning himself an answer. It’s also implied that at that point or just before that moment Gin had been promoted to lieutenant status. Though his shoulder that would carry the mark of his new rank was obscured in the brief flashback we were shown, it’s not crazy to imagine Aizen would speak to his new lieutenant of the matters of his incredible power----giving Gin the perfect opening for the specific topic of weaknesses.
Gin would have no issue trading such valuable information: at the moment, he was likely without a Bankai, and thus could simply describe his weakness as a classic blatant opening----Shinso taking too long to return, leaving him exposed to closer attacks... unwilling to disclose that his private training for further power would soon remedy that.
This trust in the midst of such distrust between them conjured up an unspoken agreement akin to a truce. Now, Gin knew exactly how to destroy the other, but Aizen (and Gin himself) knew the information could not be acted on until their reiatsu-gap closed, less Gin wished for his good work to become negated by mere Shinigami nature. Aizen knew this, and possibly told Gin his secret so that Gin strived harder, faster, towards that goal. Aizen simultaneously understood that were he to be attacked before merging with his coveted Hogyoku... he’d be defeated. Now started the era of their quiet chess games. Gin continuously growing, improving, impressing, and ultimately challenging Aizen.
Even though Gin so vehemently wanted Aizen dead, there was no denying he positively impacted Gin’s growth. From small things as a child, like how to properly dress in a yukata for a formal occasion, how best to make and display tea for guests, correct posture during seiza, how to tie a good and proper knot, calligraphy, the best way to clean and care for a sword, general formal manners, to which Gin absorbed without fully erasing his flare, his personality, that caused Aizen to separate him from the grunts and pawns of the lower rankings.
It’s during their younger years that Aizen took on the role of guardian as well as teacher----as he was once an instructor within the Academy as well. To parallel, narratively, their relationship: Gin became the guinea pig for Aizen’s fascination in tampering, molding, and overall grooming young prodigies to become powerhouses (see: Ichigo Kurosaki) and there are numerous parallels that exist to further connect their potential in the context of Aizen’s manipulation. Thing is, Gin was aware of these behind-the-curtain motives and played along regardless. Gin used Aizen’s desire to use him, and took advantage of the resources, knowledge, and power made available.
Their relationship took a serious toll, in those years, with a startling back-and-forth psychological struggle: Gin hated this man, and yet----respected him, wanted to impress him, wanted to earn his respect, and enjoyed his company. One could go so far as to analyze their earlier relationship as a twisted and unique case of Stockholm Syndrome, in which over time the captive (Gin, of his own devices, however unable to leave regardless) becomes indebted to and enraptured by their captor (Aizen) due to the various deeds of giving the captor displays. Not to be mistaken for the commonly portrayed problematic romance dynamic, but absolutely just as abusive, especially given their initial power imbalance of a subordinate child and an authority figure adult.
Tumblr media
❝ THAT’S WHAT I TOLD YA WHEN WE MET, REMEMBER?  ❞
Gin sold himself to Aizen as a valuable killer, an excellent assassin, showcasing his capabilities via the slain Third Seat at his feet, and convinced Aizen of his lack of morality which proved himself best suited for the work required. For a child to feel the need to distort himself, “turn into a monster”, to better zero in on Aizen also showcased that Gin already understood Aizen felt that he didn’t belong among other Shinigami----and acted on the belief that they could become outcasts together.
Gin also portrays himself as eager to learn, eager to please, but offers also brutal commentary, criticism, and challenges Aizen’s patience, ideas, and words----in a swiftness that Aizen hadn’t ever experienced prior to their partnership. With his silver tongue Gin likely earned himself plentiful brownie points in the eyes of his boss, and would be invited to offer his insights during Hollowification experiments as well as further plots, based entirely on the fact that his cunning intellect intrigued and impressed Aizen.
They began to work whilst Gin offered feedback, ideas, and further earned Aizen’s respect and ultimately the highest value when it came to his pool of subordinates. In this time, Gin transcended pawn status in power and in knowledge. He moved on his own accord with Aizen’s best interests in mind, and needn’t require prompting, reminding, or in-depth discussions in which he felt the need to explain his reasonings; by the time the Visored and Urahara were exiled, Gin became Aizen’s most favorite.
A favorite that he could and would, if needed, still kill were he to become disappointed in Gin’s projected direction of growth.
Time passed, Gin secured himself a better ‘standing’ in which he could comfortably exist. Tousen and Gin worked in tandem but ultimately Gin took on the bigger roles. Observing Masaki’s development, slaying Barragan’s army, killing Central 46. Gin became tasked with distracting and altogether fooling the entire Gotei 13, including Yamamoto, whilst Ichigo invaded Soul Society----Gin met the expectations set forth with ease. He moved across the board in perfect alignment with Aizen’s plot, never revealing his motions were of a higher design and executed his tasks efficiently. Aizen knew and trusted that Gin would perform beautifully as his supposed murderer, the perfect decoy, and the entire concept played on the fact that the deed was secretly desired.
Normally, when the mastermind character has his henchmen perform, there are moments of classic displays of disappointment or annoyance... examples: “this isn’t going as smoothly as planned”, “why arent [protagonists] dead?”, “you’ve been underperforming”, or other snide comments often made by shonen manga antagonists towards their peers to showcase the mastermind’s ultimate intellect and terrifying meticulous plot. Aizen did not aim his displeasure at Gin, despite the multiple annoyances throughout their betrayal of Soul Society----in fact, they instead both agreed and discussed their annoyances together, further proving that they stood beside one another in leadership.
In front of Toshiro, Gin and Aizen briefly discuss what they describe as “simple battle tactics” which once again separates Gin from all other followers.
During the scene in which Rukia’s secret harboring of Urahara’s Hogyoku was revealed, Gin non-verbally took on the responsibility of holding her still as Aizen dealt with the numerous (physical) uproars. It is unprompted, but transparent in that they needn’t discuss “here, hold this while I cut down a few rowdy ones” etc. etc., and the silent understanding of one another that existed between them.
Gin rarely requires Aizen’s verbal command; once Hitsugaya Toshiro was slain in light of Hinamori Momo’s tragic fate, Aizen bid Unohana Retsu farewell whilst Gin dismissed them from Central 46′s headquarters via teleportation kido with no request necessary, and (dramatically) perfectly timed with Aizen’s final words to the healer captain. Gin needed only to await Aizen’s word of “she’s of no further use to me” concerning Rukia once the Hogyoku was extracted, and took the prompt to kill her swiftly. Gin kept the Karakura team at bay using his reiatsu once Aizen commented “things are getting a little crowded” but needed no further instruction. If any comments are made, they’re made in a bickering nature, which supports the idea that Gin and Aizen do not exist in a relationship where actions are punishable.
They’d much rather mock each other playfully, use sarcasm, and otherwise belittle their enemies instead.
Bickering and poking fun is important, as often times Aizen’s sense of humor and playfulness is dismissed in order to instead acknowledge his power, his seriousness, his genius plotting... as if the other elements cannot exist in harmony with one another. Gin has adapted, adjusted, and arguably rubbed off on Aizen when it comes to his mischievous nature, his sly and coy comments mirrored and paralleled by Aizen in multiple instances. A testament to the amount of time spent together, and despite any denying Aizen may attempt: Gin influenced him to become more cunning and cutthroat.
Their synchronization, minimalistic cues, and non-verbal understanding of one another can be blatantly apparent and simply declared, but it’s the ‘smaller’ moments, the little gestures, in which the depth of their connection is displayed throughout the series.

answer these questions then tag blogs you'd like to know better!
TAGGED BY: the kind @semblessed <333 TAGGING: anyone & everyone who sees this and wants to do the thing! you're more than welcome to say i tagged you if you'd like. <3
Nicknames: Manda among others, but I prefer Manda or just my name Amanda. Zodiac: Gemini Height: 5'3" Time: 1:52PM PST Favorite Band / Artist: I love PVRIS, Red, the original Flyleaf, and Lindsey Stirling to name a few artists. Song Stuck In My Head: None at the moment, surprisingly. Last Movie You Watched: Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindelwald. I watched it for the second time this past Tuesday. I'll be watching Widows this coming Tuesday. Last Thing I Googled: Chess ( for google images since I'm about to work on an aesthetic meme response ).  Other Blogs: This is my main & most active account, but I also have solo muse blogs for: Marinette Dupain-Cheng ( @gentilfleur ), Scott Calvin / Santa Claus ( @jinglehearted ), and very low activity but also Helen Parr / Elastigirl ( @feminarobus ). I also have a multi account used only on request ( since offline life and this account as well as my other accounts keep me busy ). Some of the muses on it are: Chris Argent from Teen Wolf, Catherine de Medici from Reign, Sister Mary Eunice from American Horror Story, Martha May Whovier from How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Elizabeth Comstock from Bioshock, Ivy Valentine from Soul Calibur, Clover from Totally Spies!, Kazuto Kirigaya from Sword Art Online, Lady Tsunade from Naruto, and Minto Aizawa from Tokyo Mew Mew. Do I Get Asks: Yup, and I greatly appreciate each one I receive.  Why Did I Choose This Username: One of the things that stands out most to me about the character is how she doesn't just plow through life doing things and not feeling the gravity of the consequences. As wronged as she feels by some people sometimes, she's not incapable of admitting that she's got regrets that aren't just going to vanish. No matter how hard she tries to shove her heart aside, it's like this rock that just refuses to be moved to where she wants it to go. Following: A lot of awesome people. Average Amount of Sleep: 6-8 hours during the week. What I'm Wearing: Comfy clothes for lounging at home since I'm doing things around the house today. Dream Job: I'm already a professional actress, but I'd like to become a prolific one with an emphasis on voice. I'd also like for acting to become my primary job since right now it's something I do in addition to my day job. Dream Trip: Travel to all of the Universal & Disney theme parks across the globe. Favorite Food: Poke bowls, Mickey waffles, sourdough bread, soft pretzels, and frozen yogurt to mention a few. Play Any Instruments: I grew up learning to play piano until middle school, when my parents saw me trying to get the private instructor to tutor me in math instead of piano one day. Eye Color: Brown Hair Color: Dark Brown Languages You Speak: English and Japanese. Most Iconic Song: I'm not sure how to answer this one. Like, if I'm guessing what one of the most iconic songs in the country is, Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley automatically comes to mind. Random Fact: I've had guinea pigs, lizards, fish, rats, turtles, finches, parakeets, dogs, and cats as pets at various points in my life. A number of them were rescued by my family and I. Right now, we have three dogs and two cats.  Describe Yourself As Aesthetic Things: Fruit bats, reindeer stuffed animals, the color hot pink, the color black, an assortment of dresses, a gold class ring with an Emerald gem on it, an iPhone 8 Plus in a Gold leather case that has a neck strap, the Gryffindor emblem, black heeled boots, Alex & Ani bracelets, a mug of hot water with lemon in it, tiaras, a Beacon Hills High lanyard with keys and an Ally A keychain on it, unkempt bed sheets, pumpkins, roses, an assortment of gaming consoles ( such as the Nintendo Switch, Gamecube, and PS4 ), and an assortment of scarves.

THIS IS WHAT BOILS AWAY INSIDE ME EVERY MINUTE, MAKING THE TEDIUM OF EVERYDAY LIFE AN UNBEARABLE TRAP - THIS IS WHY I CAN NEVER STAY AT A JOB OR DECIDE ON A CAREER. EVERYTHING THAT IS NOT THESE THINGS IS BORING AND FRUSTRATING ________________________________________________
I have researched and want to write pre-historical fiction exploring my personal theories about early human development, which are wild but entirely possible within the total evidence we have available. I’ve done probably tens of thousands of words in notes on it over the years; finished, it would probably be at least a trilogy in length.
_________________________________________________
I have written some songs, and I want to get a couple of friends with a good voices to sing them, and then get some musician friends to write/play music for them on analogue instruments, pair that with the singing as whole songs that they perform live somewhere, then record and give those songs to some other friends to make like, an electro-funk remix album of it, and then get some DJ’s I know to spin that shit at a party, take footage of the whole process featuring the live band performance and the party DJ's strongly, ask some dancing/choreographing people I know to create a couple of kick-ass matching dance routines featuring all the people who worked on the project, reach out to some video and animation folks, and make a small series of music videos out of the whole dang thing.
_________________________________________________
I want to change how we experience death by creating a personal website for individuals featuring a kind of A.I. social media bot that users set up and activate which will, upon their death, continue to like and reblog things based on patterns of preference in their posts while alive. These bot/A.I.s would be able to be interfaced with, so, after I died, someone could get to know me - they could ask AfterKie “what movies and TV shows did you like?” and if I had set it up with access to my netflix/hulu/youtube info, AfterKie could tell you which movies and TV shows I rated highly, which ones I watched more than once, read you any positive reviews about them, read you my tweet “idc what anyone says, Ghostbusters is the best movie there has ever been” etc. And the reposting algorithms would A: let me reach out from the beyond to remind people “oh, true, Kie probably WOULD have like that tweet about caterpillars” and B: even if they were not perfect the reposting algorithms would allow for an approximate continuation and growth, so that I could even be seen as developing new interests after my death “Have you heard from Kie lately? He’s gotten super into Swedish architecture ever since he died, it’s like, most of what he talks about now”. I could map my face onto an avatar and use some voice matching software and put myself on a screen on my grave stone that would be linked, so you could literally walk around a graveyard getting to know the people who were buried there, asking them questions about their life. ________________________________________________
I want to build a Pet Mech, a small robot that could be controlled by small pets walking on a rollerball surface housed in the floor of the “head” with a sleeping/snacking den in the “body”. So your rat or guinea pig or ferret or lizard wakes up, climbs up into the control room, the floor of which is the direction pad. Which ever way the pet walks, the robot goes. Your pet is a little closer to your face, safe from the cat, won’t get lost under the couch, and can move around with you and to the extent of it’s capabilities be a social participant in the family it belongs to. ____________________________________________________
I want to sell puppies that owners will come visit in my facility for the first couple months, then take them home one weekend a month, then two, then three, then every weekend, then by the time they are a year old the dog lives with it’s person/people but continues to spend one weekend a month at the facility for an additional year. The facility would provide full socialization and training. A lot of dogs wind up in shelters because in one way or another their owners do not know how to teach them to be a functioning member of the household/society. Just the other day, I heard a lady talking about getting rid of her two year old dog, because "he's getting on my damn nerves, I don't know what to do with him" which A: it is our responsibility to teach dogs how to be an acceptable fit in our households, and B: having never been taught that in his formative years, this dog will have more trouble learning it from even someone who knows exactly how to do that. Modern Americans typically lack the resources and/or proper knowledge to accomplish what could best be done for them by trained professionals who went to collage to study animal behavior and development etc. This way, the dog would have a realistic chance of being a good fit for the owner, and the owner would have clear methods of achieving behavior they require, as well as having access to a support facility for boarding, exercising, trouble shooting problem behavior, etc. At first, it would be very expensive, and I would look into a pairing program, where every dog purchased and trained would pay for an additional dog to be available for families with lower incomes. Additionally, you could defray the cost by predetermining your dog to be trained and available for dog-jobs for hire from the facility as adult dogs, to pay for their early care and training; jobs such as visiting senior homes or hospitals, sniffing things in labs (like tumors) finding lost people, working with livestock at high school Agg programs, etc... so a few days a month until they paid for themselves, these dogs would have jobs, which is fulfilling for many dogs and would help a family afford one of these canines. As facilities expanded, costs would go down, and the facilities would make great shelter alternatives, eventually allowing kill shelters to be closed and possibly getting access to shelter subsidies. Then, as more and more dogs were properly trained and socialized, and more and more families with dogs had access to support services, less and less dogs would be given up, further reducing both the need for shelters, and the number of dogs euthanized each year. __________________________________________________
I have a plan that might allow minimum wage workers to build equity and become property owners while having more free time, in a communities designed as entrepreneurial incubators that allow small businesses to develop in extremely low-risk environments. I’m pretty excited about that one. __________________________________________________
I want to start a store that focuses on local sourcing, and competes with stores like Target and Walmart. This store features a permanent farmers market, a suplimentary onsite greenhouse and nursery, and a large industrial kitchen attached to a small bistro and bakery. The greenhouse and nursery would focus on any produce not represented by local growers. The unsold produce from the farmers market would be given to the store as a substantial portion of the farmstand rental fee, keeping the cost low for the farmers and letting them get value out of produce the public doesn’t buy, and the bistro would sell food made from it. Additionally the industrial kitchen would process the remainder into things like mustard, tater tots, microwaveable chicken pot pies, frozen breakfast burritos, bbq sauce, etc. Instead of buying new tools from the tool section, there would be a large tool library, and a 3-D printer for printing high density ceramic tools in case a specific kind is not available. The ceramic would break down faster than tools of other materials, but since it’s loaned and not purchased, that is fine, especially as the ceramic material can be broken down and re-printed into new tools. Instead of Hallmark and Harlequin novels and Homemaker magazines... cards, poetry chapbooks, works of fiction and independent publications all from local authors. Instead of new toys, franken-toys made out of second hand toys, with a build your own franken-toy workshop open to the public and staffed with someone to assist children. Instead of an electronics department, a repair shop that also offers lessons in electronic repair, and a workshop and tools for public use. Instead of clothes made in overseas sweatshops, a fabric and second hand clothing store staffed with local tailors and would-be clothing designers, doing repairs and adjustments on the second-hand clothes and using them with the fabric to create whole new pieces of clothing. Our offer to the public: bring in any item of women’s clothing from anywhere, and we will add two functioning pockets for free. It would be a club, like Costco, with a small monthly fee that would help cover things like the workshop tool use, as well as encourage regular patronage. __________________________________________________
I want a genetically modified cactus or succulent that glows from bio-luminescence, to use as a night light in the bedroom or bathroom. I don’t know how to make this happen, but I keep looking into it, because MAN do I want this to happen. ___________________________________________________
Instead of people going to big sales, I want to throw a Black Friday make-your-presents party, where instructors and materials are provided for DIY christmas present projects. Tickets are sold in advance, are specific to the project (functioning as a sign-up) and the ticket price covers your materials (costs are averaged so ticket prices are all the same). The idea is, you show up for a party, head to your project space, get taught how to make the thing, and you make like, ten of them in two hours. Then you spend another couple hours eating, drinking, and trading gifts with people from the other projects, giving you a selection of about ten different gifts. ____________________________________________________
I want to make a computer-assisted table top RPG that keeps track of all the numbers and equations character movement speed and position on maps, so you can focus on the role-playing aspect (you still roll dice, but on a mat with sensors that track the result and apply your bonuses etc) ___________________________________________________
I want to do all this and so much more. I have some really cool alien fiction ideas - not the stories, but the aliens themselves, designed the right way, by creating a set of planetary conditions and then hypothesizing lifeforms likely to evolve therein... I have some energy creation process designs that utilize combinations of natural forces (like gravity/solar/tidal plants, that use all three things in a unified power production technique) which I’d love to look into further. I have a line of small pet housing I’ve sketched out, featuring tunnels connecting small pet environments in each room of the owner’s house.  I have a video game I’ve outlined and done character development for that I’m writing up as an RPG sourcebook...
___________________________________________________ I'm not saying this is genius stuff (I’m also not saying it isn’t tho) I'm just saying pursuing these thoughts is the only thing in life that commands my interest.
What I’m super tired of is trying to make my brain do anything but run on at full speed about this kind of thing, because it pretty much refuses to do anything else anyway.
I don't even care if I make any money from any of it, I just want to make it happen. ... I mean, money would be nice too, of course.
So, anyway, now if I die in my sleep at least this much of any of it is out in the world in some form. Meanwhile, I’m just a few days away from going live with the website I’ve put together to showcase my progress on this stuff and help find funding for development. A central location all of it can live and get updated. I should probably get back to working on that, actually

ticklemetuesday’s Submission:
White noise is a must if you get distracted when your studying (or supposed to be focusing on anything in general). I’ve also heard instrumental only music is good too. This is one of those basic tips that I think people forget to try but make a world of difference.
icetigris’s Submission:
Study Advice
Make review sheets. Write down everything you need to know for a test as if you need to teach it to someone else. The act of preparing this will cement your knowledge. If you CAN actually teach it to someone else, that will help even more, since they can ask you questions.
If you need to study math, science, or anything abstract, try to make an animation of some kind. I find that animating algorithms and procedures REALLY clarifies things for me since I’m a very visual learner.
the-adhd-girl’s Submission:
My best studying advice
(Note: not all of these tips are ADHD-specific; also, all of this is my experience, and may not work for others)
1. Figure out what you’re going to be tested on, and adjust your study style accordingly. If you’re going to be tested on rote memory, your studying should be about memorization. Make flashcards, rewrite notes, and come up with mnemonics. If you’re going to be tested on calculations, do practice problems. If you’re going to be tested on essay writing, try to think of what the essay questions are going to be and write practice essays. Then, fact check with your notes and textbooks.
2. When your brain starts to give up, take a break. Don’t waste time by feeling miserable while blankly staring at a page. Get up and take a walk around the block. Or go to lunch. Or go get coffee with a friend. Then come back when you’re refreshed. If this means you have to take a break after five minutes, do it. It’s not ideal to only work for five minutes, but it’s better than burning yourself out and getting nothing done.
3. If you’re doing something like flashcards, make them yourself. The act of making the flashcards will help you remember the material better, in addition to studying with them.
4. Don’t be afraid to look for support from classmates. If you have a gap in your notes, or if you can’t read your own writing, ask someone. Odds are, they need support with something too.
5. Khan Academy YouTube videos are a lifesaver. (https://www.youtube.com/user/khanacademy).
kenobrea’s Submission:
Study advice: lay out your syllabi with a planner and start putting in every due date for every single thing. Color code if you want (quizzes are blue, papers are red etc). Then start with whatever paper/project is due first and start knocking things out one at a time. My last semester of college I did this and I had all my papers including my 25 page thesis done before Halloween- it was SO nice to just revise and submit them while everyone else was stressing!
Anonymous’s Submission:
Honestly the best way to deal with school as an adhd person is to under stimulate your brain so you have to do school work. Or make yourself scared enough. Or bust logic into your head. Or make it interesting. Or procrastinate then hyper focus. Maybe not totally Beasley but it works.
Anonymous’s Submission:
How to help with school reading: Cliff notes!! Spark notes!! They are a miracle! (Teacher want you to read both them and the book but sometimes I just can't read the book so I end up reading cliff notes instead)
J’s tips for taking a distance ed course:
When you get the schedule, put every single due date and test into your to-do list and planner.
Put checking the message board for the course into your to-do list as a daily thing.
Put reading your modules (or textbook, whatever) into your to-do list as a weekly thing.
Divide up your assignments into small steps and put them into your to-do list and planner as mini-due dates.
Do practice tests and questions when they come up in the modules or textbook, as you are reading.
Try to reply to at least two different threads each week, and try to start at least one of your own as well. This will help your participation grade.
If you have questions, post them in the applicable forum. Someone else might be wondering the same thing!
Try to stay on topic in your forum posts.
When you write your introduction post, you should mention your ADHD and explain what will help you with the course. For me, that’s space between paragraphs and patience when I go on a tangent or just randomly talk about guinea pigs or something. I don’t need accommodations, I just need the instructor and my fellow students to respect my needs and be understanding when something weird happens.

Best Friend Taeyong
this was requested by an anon ~
just saying , lee taeyong’s a great bestfriend so be prepared for what’s coming up ahead ;)
okay let’s start
so you recently joined a dance class because you had always been interested in dancing and thus, you wanted to try it out
on your first day there , the instructor asked this handsome looking guy to be your mentor/partner
and you were shookt by his visuals at first because his jawline was so sharp , he had a strong gaze and he looked like a fictional character
on top of that , the instructor had asked him to showcase a short solo dance to you
you were so stunned by everything about you stood there with your eyes and mouth wide opened without saying a word
he gave you a look at first but after a few minutes he offered you a smile ,
and he introduced himself to you , and also asked for your number so that he could keep in touch with you
at first you were too shy to open up , but his heartwarming smile and warm personality made you more comfortable around him ,
and even when there wasn’t dance trainings that day , the both of you still met up
and it always ended up where y'all two would be at each other’s houses , watching late night movies or having heart to heart talks
one day he introduced you to the other boys as his ’ bestest best friend ’
and doyoung couldn’t help but laugh out at his words because he said it with so much confidence
“ hyung how old are you ? you sounded like a small kid ”
“ Shut up doyoung ”
as a best friend he acts more like an older brother and a mother at the same time
one moment he’s disturbing you while you’re watching television ,
the other , he’s nagging at you for 2 straight hours because you forgot to make your bed after you got up that morning
then he brings up every other time you did something messy/unhygienic it becomes a lecture
mother taeyong nags too much
he gets really protective over you like you’re some 5 year old kid ,
and he protects you with anything and everything
“ don’t meet that man Y/N . i’ve done some research on him , you deserve better ”
“ why’d you do that taeyong omg . and i’m only meeting him as a friend , nothing else ”
“ no , don’t go ”
“ you’re not my mom or anything why’d i listen to you ”
“ i’m your best friend Y/N ”
“ then you should support me !! ”
“ no , i said no Y/N . you step out of that door and no home cooked food from me for one week ”
so you’re left with no choice but to stay at home , helping him with house chores ,
that you’ve not been doing for one week so taeyong specially made his way down to do them because he couldn’t stand the germs
febreeze taeyong back again
when he’s bored , he always find ways for you to do something entertaining with him ,
be it playing video games ,
or creating dance choreographies together
during dance practice he gets all serious and expressive ,
but once the music stops he compliments you and isn’t afraid to correct you so that you can learn from the mistakes
he doesn’t mind skinship but he still keeps his distance because he doesn’t want others to get the wrong idea
like he’s fine with hugs and lying on each other ,
but no backhugs for him because he feels that it’s a couple thing
he likes ruffling your hair and patting your head a lot ,
and every time he does that , he has this very motherly smile , and his eyes would always soften
when you’re upset he wouldn’t hesitate to beat anyone who made you feel that way ,
and he’d shower you with advice and wise words until you feel better
he’s always there for you so !!!!!
he likes cooking for you and he uses you as a guinea pig to try his new recipes
at first you were scared because you thought it wasn’t going to work out ,
but after trying three dishes that he came up with randomly ,
it tasted so good you almost cried so now you look forward to when he asks you to try his new dishes
when he first found out your crush on johnny , he got really shocked and he couldn’t believe it for two days
he also tried asking you to get rid of your feelings but of course it didn’t work
“ Y/N , out of everyone , you chose Johnny hyung why omg ? ”
“ Johnny isn’t that bad you know … ”
“ of course i know , but why must it one of my friends ”
“ i couldn’t help it taeyong , ever since he treated me to dinner that day my heart couldn’t resist ”
“ alright , i’ll try to help you ”
despite him acting like he didn’t approve if your feelings for johnny , he supported your decision and tried his best to help
as expected , two months later you and johnny revealed to him that you were together ,
and taeyong was the first to jump up at the news , and even asked for a celebration
y'all agreed because he played a huge part in making the relationship possible ,
settung up dates and outings together ,
constantly complimenting and flattering you infront of johnny ,
and also cheering you on when you were too afraid to confess

Associations of Azeroth: Amberstaff Coalition, “The Wizards of Ambermill”
By Risri Elthron
Tumblr media
Set beneath the great purple dome, Ambermill in Silverpine Forest is home to a group of individuals known throughout the lands for their magical arts, Amberstaff Coalition. The group which prides itself on accepting any and all who wish to learn about the schools of magic and encourage members to become experts in their chosen school, has existed since the days of the Troll Wars over 2,500 years ago. Originally known as the Order of the Amberstaff, the Archwizard Purdue took on the mantle of leadership shortly after the death of the former leader, renaming the association to Amberstaff Coalition. Since then, the group has grown to over 130 individuals with both magi and martial types filling the ranks.
Individuals from all over Azeroth and Draenor have joined the order. The Royal Courier spent time with three of Amberstaff’s members, Keeper Helasar Moonblade, Captain Aacer, and Valoo Ironclad. Keeper Moonblade, one of the Amber Wizard apprentices provided a tour of the grounds and gave some background on the prestigious organization.
Tumblr media
The grounds themselves consist of several buildings, the main hall and library, housing for the Amberstaff personnel, and a lab. The entire compound also hosts several elementals who serve the members as guards and assistants. Overhead the dome provides a warning system and protection from any hostile incursions. “This dome is only a remade version of the original which was sadly destroyed upon the invasion of the forsaken in this region. The ward is now maintained by a generator,” Keeper Moonblade shared during the tour of the facility.
Tumblr media
The name Amberstaff came from both the staves wielded by the magi within the group as well as the practice of Ambermancy, “It is the practice of taking multiple schools and types of magick and forming it into one. This is the practice of creating the amber spells that only the most experienced of amber wizards are able to do.” Helasar explained.
The Amberstaff Coalition works to balance not only magic but also relations between the Alliance and Horde. Keeper Moonblade shared this neutral stance as “Accepting all who are willing to put aside their differences and study the Arcane. Under the dome, we do not recognize the political beliefs or structure of each person.”
Within the Amberstaff Coalition opportunity for advancement is possible with hard work and dedication. “The hierarchy of the Coalition goes as this: The Arbiter of both trees of the guild is at the top slot, and that is the official rank that the Archwizard holds. The officers of the guild make up the Council. The best of each magickal occupation such as the magi, shamans, and the such, with an exception to monks, hold a spot upon the Council. Next is where the two branches fall into place. Of the Magickal tree, the ranks from highest to lowest go as Instructor, Adept, and Apprentice. From the Martial tree, the ranks from highest to lowest are Amber guard, Regular, and Pledge.”
Tumblr media
Keeper Moonglade shared how he came to be a member within Amberstaff, ““I was in Stormwind in search for a job and a new way of life other than prowling among the outskirts of Darnassus. I found the Archwizard on the Cathedral stairs, back when he used to openly recruit on the streets. That was the start of this adventure. I needed not to be convinced, for I joined on my own interest and accord. I was willing to start a new part of my life, and the idea of a magickal order peaked my interest to an extreme.” His focus within Amberstaff to teach and mentor arcane students as well as assist the Archwizard with public relations. “I tend to study the Arcane in my free time, for one can never truly master the magickal arts. I mostly do the things that the Archwizard needs done, or anything extremely beneficial to the Coalition as a whole, take example of my Stormwind recruiting sessions.”
Tumblr media
Captain Aacer and Valoo Ironclad joined Keeper Moonblade after the tour to discuss how they joined, what they did for the coalition and why someone would want to join the ranks of Amberstaff.  Captain Aacer was a lone adventurer who happened upon his now wife Ivory a long term member who convinced him to join. Mr. Ironclad was recruited by Captain Aacer after the recent Winter Veil Tournament hosted by House Matheredor.
As one of the two directly reporting to the Archwizard, Captain Aacer detailed his responsibilities, “I lead the less magically-inclined of our bunch. For me, that entails the leading of the vanguard, as we are the first and last line of defense for our magi, who often times are in the back. As for training, generally I run our agents through practice sparring with myself and adjust their skills appropriately if I see issue. I'm also in charge of seeking those amongst our ranks for the position of Amberguard, which are the most skilled and elite of the Martial Tree. Since the Broken Shore though, they have been few, as we suffered many casualties during our charge at the Broken Shore.”
Tumblr media
Mr. Ironclad told his story of joining, “I think I fall under the martial tree, Captain Aacer here was what drew me to the Coalition.  I ran into him at a charity tournament a few weeks back, we fought and he won.  I wanted a rematch though, so about a week ago I ran into him outside of Stormwind and challenged him to a rematch, he won again, but that’s alright cus it was a much better fight. After that fight we realized we were both big contenders in the Brawler's guild when it was active, and he convinced me to join the Coalition.”
Upon the question of why someone would be interested in joining the Amberstaff Coalition, Captain Aacer spoke passionately about doing something bigger than yourself, “I think the thing that would attract people to the Coalition, would firstly be the attraction of learning more about the magical world around us. Deeper than that though, it is the attraction of doing something bigger and better than yourself. We fight the Legion at its forefront, which for many martials is more than enough to wake up on the daily."
Keeper Moonblade added, “We give a shelter to those willing to study of the magickal arts. Even the controlled practice of demonology is allowed, if they have the proper licenses and such required to legally summon demons. We also provide a safe environment that we use to commence multiple studies and the sorts under the dome of Ambermill.”
The newest member Mr. Ironclad also voiced his enthusiasm of Amberstaff, “I'd say if ye want to fight the Legion it sure is better to do it with a good group of lads at yer back, hah! But nae, The Coalition's treated me well so far, and they've got a good goal.”
Loyalty and trust in the Archwizard was expressed best by Captain Aacer, “I have faith in the ability of Alranon to lead the Coalition into the forefront of situations and get all of us out. He pushes his hardest to care for everyone around him, and attend to every individual he encounters. That stress can take a toll on a man, and he handles it well."
Mr. Ironclad added his approval of the Arbitor and Amberstaff, “The archwizard certainly knows what he's doing and I think we can do a lot a' good work on the isles.”
“Amberstaff is a unit. We are a cooperation of individuals who seek something greater. We look out for one another, so don't be afraid to ask for help. We're all there for you.” Captain Aacer stated proudly.
Keeper Moonblade summed up Amberstaff as “We have a family-esque style of how we treat those in the Coalition, and we have an accepting community within.”
Tumblr media
The Amberstaff Coalition is currently looking for more individuals to assist in their pursuit of knowledge of magic to protect and serve Azeroth. If you have interest in joining, seek out Keeper Moonblade or Captain Aacer for more information.
(OOC: Amberstaff is very accepting of all characters, as Helarsar states: “We accept basically everything, however, any character with any DnD alignment that ends with -evil is not allowed in the guild. I recruit about every other day in the mage district as well. For the magickals I recruit, I ask a series of OOC and IC questions to determine if that person is fit to join the guild.”
Aacer adds, “Well of course we look for mages by the bushel! If you're even slightly interested in magic, waddle on over. As for classes, what Helasar said. Contacting us through whisper is really good! We have two criers who walk through the Mage District everyday proclaiming Amberstaff's name. So that is a really good RP starter. We'll get you set up with an IC interview with either myself if you're a martial, or a wizard if you're magical.
Some additional OOC considerations for joining into Amberstaff, Aacer encouraged newcomers to not be shy, “Having some level of lore knowledge is nice, but we have no issue at all with teaching them and informing them on the lore they need to build a really neat character!” You can expect, “A very loud welcome in guild chat (OOC chat), our discord information, and a waiting new bundle of friends.”)
Amberstaff Coalition is an association working within Azeroth to improve the lives of all citizens. The Archwizard Purdue had this to add, “My people are my family. They are the only thing that keeps me alive. Without them, I would have tossed myself off Dalaran years ago. I lead them because I need them as much as they need me. I give them guidance and share my knowledge, my home, my smile. My people are without equal. The best in all of Azeroth. Captain Aacer and Champion Blackwool can slay any foe. Wizards Helasar and Elias could crush any sorcerer. I unite them because I know under me we can become legends.”
(OOC Note: Once again thank you to Helarsar, Aacer and Valoo for your time, the tour and the excellent RP interview! You let me figure out a few things about how this will work going forward so thank you for being my guinea pigs. Thank you @alranon-purdue for agreeing to letting me do this. I will be reaching out to more GMs in the coming weeks and months about being featured. Please bare with me as I’d like to keep this at a slower pace than the People of Azeroth column which we will be starting up again soon.)

Golfers have an endless need to evaluate, manipulate, and resolve their swing every time they get their hands on a golf club.  We have all been at home, in the living room, garage, basement, and grab that club sitting in the corner, taking the club away and diagnose.  Fortunately for us, technology is opening the door to better self instruction, both at home and at the driving range.  One particular company, Live View Golf, has introduced the LiveView +Plus Digital Swing Mirror.  A big name with an extremely simple concept; real time swing support for every golfer.
Tumblr media
The first glance is fairly unremarkable in a neutral sort of way. The LiveView product is packaged well in a protective soft shell case, and has a few additional add on features that improve the experience like a sunshade for an iPad, or a LivePod adapter that helps set the unit properly behind or to the side of the golfer.  The unit itself is red, with a simple power button with lights that represent overall battery life. In total, it made me want to quickly dive into the software to see where the real power comes from with this particular product, and I did not have to go far to find it.
Tumblr media
The first session at the course was very exploratory.  With a collection of friends present to play the role of guinea pig, the Live View DSM was set up first using the LivePod adapter on the ground, and shortly thereafter attached to the top of a club holder (a bag would work just as well, if not better in this case).  For the product to be effective, there needs to be a fair bit of room between the golfer and the Live View unit, which could prove a bit problematic in more compact range locations, however for my situation, it was actually quite easy.  We got it into a position where the full swing would be captured, and then I went to work manipulating the software.  Connectivity with my iPad was an absolute breeze.
Tumblr media
For clarity, this unit can be enjoyed on an individual basis, with the software being fully capable of either continuous recording up to 10 minutes in length, or what they are calling “automatic swing detect” which records the swing and two seconds on each side of impact to show the full swing sequence.  For the purpose of this review, I found the most efficient way to maximize the potential of the unit was to use it with others, where lines could be drawn and replays were at the ready after manual start/stop occurred.
Getting the hang of the software was really easy. There are quick tutorials to follow, and then the user is free to go about their process, which for me meant a lot of lines, and then forced conversation with fellow golfers about their flaws.  I was able to easily draw lines and circles on the screen both before and after the swing was complete, bringing the golfer back to me after completing their swing to show them what was occurring with their movement.  As a block style education, this gives me a great chance to use extra lines after pausing the video, then proceeding at a much slower rate so I can specifically show them what was happening.
Tumblr media
For other golfers, specifically the more stubborn ones, I actually took the iPad and presented the screen to them (with the view still coming from behind their swing) while they were taking their practice swings.  One particular golfer struggles with hitting the ball fat sometimes, and thin sometimes.  We talked about his move away from the ball, how he drives his head down as his swing starts to generate power, and then clears as he descends into the ball.  I was able to clearly show him using lines and slow motion that the lack of movement he felt was happening was actually quite different.  I held the iPad out while he took a series of practice swings, being able to easily see all elements of his swing down the line as the iPad did not hinder him in any way.  This instant feedback was without a doubt my favorite part of the product, and has since altered the way he is approaching his swing.
Tumblr media
The overall visual quality of the camera could be a bit better by today’s standards, but it certainly serves its purpose well.  The images included in this review will adequately represent the quality perceived by all golfers during this testing period, with the colors being a bit strange in the central location of the lens (the range was actually very green despite what you see).  We talked about what it would take to pump video through WiFi, how much battery it would burn, and how big the unit would have to be for ultra high quality video.  I am not sure if they are actively working towards new and improved optics in the future, but that would likely be my first pursuit.  While the visual did not deter me, the 60 frames struggled to capture the full depth of the swing, especially during the downswing.  I have samples where the image flashes from the top of the shoulders almost into contact from one frame to the next, which would do well to improve.
Outside of the overall frames, nothing about the experience proved less than stellar from a teaching, learning, or exploration aspect.  Each golfer that went through the Live View experience left the conversation with a greater knowledge about their swing, something to work on using drawn in lines to represent body variance during the backswing or downswing, and intrigue for how the unit could continue to improve their efficiencies.  We had a majority of players come over the top, a couple with bad alignment to target (they did not agree with the alignment aid variance), and a pretty diverse group for raising or lowering their head during the swing.  It gave me the takeaway that while the best solution would be to use this unit with a coach or knowledgeable instructor, the Live View Golf product is absolutely valuable for every golfer with access to YouTube (to learn the right way to do things) and those who are unwilling to drop dollars on lessons every week.  For those who are going through swing changes with a coach, the unit will let you save video and images to send to instructors for further input, or provide that feedback visually to make sure what they are working on is what the goal of their last lesson had intended.  For more information on the LiveView+Plus, visit https://www.liveviewgolf.com/.
