Well! That was a cute set of shorts. I liked that. Very little substances, but fun little peeks into the lives of Anne and the Plantars. My favorite was the video game one--I thought the spritework was very cute, the chiptune rendition of the main theme was great, and I'd definitely play a Scott Pilgrim-esque Amphibia beatemup. After that, my second-favorite was the off-roading short. It was a cool look at the environments of the island they're on, and in particular I'd like to see them do a more in-depth spelunking of that cave.

That's it for Amphibia for today. Next, we'll be starting episode 5 of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts! I can't promise that will be today, but I'm going to try to get back in the daily-liveblog-at-noon habit. If it's not today, I will hopefully see you then tomorrow!

I enjoy that he is very flawed and volatile. #This episode of the audio drama has a lot of great breakdown scenes featuring JC - and they all deserve a feature. #But underlying this comic is a small meta comment of 'ah man I have too many comics of JC just wailing sadly' #My goal is to draw 6-8 comics per episode - I sometimes have to truncate and cut good scenes out. #Especially when a large majority is just different flavours of trauma and toxic relationships to your self-worth. #I would also like to make a note here that just because you lose the ability to do something that is very tied to your core identity- #-does not mean your life is over. It will feel like the end of the world. It will send you into a spiral of grief. It will hurt so badly. #Sometimes we do not realize how tied up our identities can be in certain things until we are cut loose. #You don't lose yourself. I promise the pain will fade in time. I promise you will find other things to tether you. I promise you will be ok #Life moves forwards. Time moves forwards. You move forwards. #Ego death just means an opportunity for ego rebirth. I'm incredibly soft about the fact that the people Caleb shares a sending stone with aren’t the mighty nein members who live furthest away, but the ones who live the closest. That, when also taking into account the easy invitation to dinner and request for a spare bedroom (and the mention that Caleb has the worst timing when calling, implying he calls often) makes so much known about their domestic lives. How often does Yasha make a quick call to invite Caleb for dinner to try some new (barely edible) dish? How often do Caleb and Beau stay up late doing research, with him staying the night in the guest room? How often does Caleb call in the middle of the night with a question?

The nein getting together for adventuring is fun, but man, I'd absolutely sit down for a few hours of them just being domestic and settled like this.

What an immediately intriguing show.  I’m always a sucker for a cool post-apocalyptic world, the animation is great, the monster design is neat, the characters are fun, it’s got evil frog people, the works.  I’m looking forward to more--and I’m REALLY looking forward to learning the details of the apocalypse.  How did we get from 2020 normalcy to 22XX monster world?  This is going to be very interesting.

sorry I know it’s 2023 the show has Been over but on any other show. your best friend confesses their love for you and dies. the very act of confession is what kills them because its their moment of true happiness - just telling you they love you - so the act of confession, of loving you, becomes happiness for its own sake and sacrificial death all at once.

on any other show. perhaps this would not insignificantly impact the character who was confessed to and would be further addressed in the text of the show. as you do when such fundamental worldview changes are introduced to characters that they now have to reconcile with along with the loss. perhaps this would even be a subplot, an arc to their character development. on any other show.

on the show where - just two seasons ago - said character Did have an entire arc and subplot dedicated to mourning the loss of their best friend who was killed in the context of battle, without any added significance such as. I don’t know. telling the other they’re in love with them which is the very thing that kills them. after the audience is deliberately shown that the character mourns for them in a distinct way compared to other characters, who mourn him as a close friend or paternal figure. which perhaps would beg the question: what is the distinction then. and the answer is: don’t worry about it. You Are Watching Supernatural

readings of tom and greg that are like "tom just needs someone to control"/"greg just wants the power that tom can give him" are so deeply biased and pessimistic that you're just flat out ignoring the show so i try not to bother with dignifying it But imo it's also indicative of really shallow understanding of how their relationship is informed by the whole corporate masculinity thing. in a way that i just have to say something about. like even aside from all the clear points of selflessness on either end and trust between them etc.. did you even consider that maybe it's himself that tom doesn't like when greg isn't beneath him? that falling on distinct points on a hierarchy is simply what makes it easiest for him to feel safe being close with another man, especially in the waystar setting? he undeniably actively WANTS to bring greg up with him. he just doesn't know what to do once greg is there because when someone is beneath you, you can grab them, you can touch them, you can pull them as close as you want and it's all excused by you "exerting your power." when someone is above you then it's simply you knowing your place when you get as close as they demand. when another man is your equal, though, you no longer have that excuse. now you have to admit that there's no power to exert nor accept when you touch. you just want it.

#they've been saying this ever since the finale aired and it drives me CRAZY #have your personal opinions all you want but to say that 2x08 was objectively a weak episode is simply not correct #cinematography acting vfx choreography music EVERYTHING was at the absolute top of its game #and despite being an Exciting Battle Episode it was completely anchored in character moments & emotional resonance which is no easy feat #so much going on yet there was time for every major character to get a huge developmental/emotional beat #(yes even those like nynaeve whose beat was a loss rather than a victory) #every season arc was either wrapped up in an immensely satisfying way or was set up for a deeper examination next season #and 90% of the general audience absolutely loved it #and yet reddit acts like it's an Accepted Fact that it was poor quality #just bc the book-to-show changes in that episode weren't to THEIR PERSONAL taste #touch grass #wot #seeing as season finales will always have the biggest moments it's kinda inevitable that hardcore book fans #will always be the most sensitive to any changes made in those particular episodes #not to mention that the changes made in eps 1-7 will snowball and culminate in the finale #so i feel like finales are always gonna be judged the most harshly by readers #like if dumai's wells isn't an exact 1:1 recreation of the book version #readers are 1000000% going to flip their shit no matter how objectively good the show's version actually is #wot book spoilers #for the replies
