Best of 2023: Game of The Year
Nominee: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2*
Midway on game of the year and we come back to the second chapter of a quickly becoming iconic game series for the PlayStation.
Insomniacs Spider-Man has continued to evolve with both its gameplay and graphics mechanics allowing you to websling all over NYC in creative and innovative ways.
Tumblr media
Only this time you take what was great about the first with Peter, and the parallel sequel with Miles and combine them for greater feet’s while raising the stakes with an iconic villain.
In the 2 years since the death of his aunt May, Peter and Mary Jane have begun to build their lives after getting back together.
While Miles Morales after losing his dad adjusts to school life with Peter as a teacher and his mom moving on with her own life reconnecting with an old friend.
Tumblr media
The trio would end up reconnecting with a suddenly healed Harry Osborne who wants Peter to join him in a startup charity.
All the while a paramilitary group led by Kraven the Hunter uses NYC as a battleground hunting the SpiderMens rogues as sport.
Tumblr media
But the darkness inherent soon surfaces as Harry’s cure would lead to a rift and battle for the very survival of the city.
Make no mistake this is a beautiful story and better game to look at as both the map and Spideys both grow and improve.
Tumblr media
Taking the technology to new bounds for the PS5 is the focal point as everything here seems akin to being a part of the Spiderverse or MCU and makes it all the better.
And unlike the other Avengers games this seems more like a world where this would love to be explored further.
So much more left to explore explore here.
SUM 22: 2 Spider-Man in one populate this expansive sequel to a series that continues to push the technological and fun buttons forward.

Spider-Man movies 2 - Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man movies 2 – Spider-Man 2
Immediately after Spider-Man 2002’s success, director Sam Raimi signed on for a sequel. A sequel that, to this day, many consider to be among the greatest superhero movies of all-time. Although it didn’t make quite as much money as the first, with $789 million on a $200 million budget, it was no doubt a very successful film. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who co-created the Smallville TV series…

British Victorian Art and the Maas Gallery, London. Part 1.
British Victorian Art and the Maas Gallery, London. Part 1.
Maas Gallery, Clifford Street, London. In my next couple of blogs, I am going to delve into the world of Victoriana, and the British art of that period.  The Victorian era began in 1837 when the 18-year-old Alexandrina Victoria inherited the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland as Queen Victoria.  It was a time of the start of the industrial revolution and a time when…

Had this funny idea for an AU: what if instead of giving their baby to Ben and May, Peter's parents left him under the care of Norman and Emily right before their death (perhaps because Mary and Emily were close friends), so Peter ended up being adopted into the Osborn's family?
I can imagine that Peter would have turned into a much more snobbish, condecensing jerkass who thinks he's above everyone, flex about his intelligence and be a huge jerkass to his brother, Harry. It's also a given that Norman would heavily favor Peter over Harry due to his "intelligence" and passion for science (which could shape Peter's condescending attitude towards Harry) and likely put a lot on pressure on Peter, contributing to Peter's superiority complex.
Also, Peter would definitely not go to Midtown High given his privileged upbringing and intelligence, so I doubt he would ever encounter Flash Thomson or Liz Allan. And he would have encountered Gwen Stacy earlier as she's a friend of Harry and that Norman and George Stacy were canonically close friends.
He would still become Spider-man in this universe but given that he already has all the fame and money he wants, he wouldn't need to use his powers for these things. I think he wouldn't bother using them at all at first. Rather than Uncle Ben's death, Harry's death could serve as a catalyst for him to become Spider-man. Perhaps Harry and Gwen went to investigate a gang's criminal activities and Harry asks for Peter's help as his powers could be of use but Peter ignores his request and instead goes to Oscorp's meeting with his dad. Harry predictably dies and Peter thinking he could have prevented his death with his powers tries to make up for his death by becoming Spider-Man, whereas Norman who has already lost his wife in similar circumstances less than a year ago, goes into full blown madness and turns into Green Goblin to "avenge" them by directing his anger at the city as a whole, which he sees as a corrupt, irredeemable place (akin to Ra's Al Ghul in Batman Begins).
Spider-Man and Green Goblin develop a deep seated hatred towards each other. Of course, to keep some spice, Norman and Peter are unaware of each other's identies until the very end. Needless to say that they would be deeply disturbed to learn the truth, especially Norman who swore to protect Peter by all costs since Peter is his last remaining family, someone he deeply loves.
Over time, Peter would grow out his worst traits to become a much humble and heroic person and would have to try to keep balance between his responsibilities as the heir of Oscorp and a superhero. I can also see Peter running Oscorp alone as his father's mental state deteriorated ever since Harry's death so wouldnt in position to run such a large company. I can him developing a some sort of rivalry with Tony Stark initially due to being heads of rival companies. I can also see Peter using Oscorp's technology in crime fighting (while Norman uses it for crime).
Gwen and Peter/Spider-Man form a some sort of crime-fighting duo as Gwen is basically a mix between Oracle and Insomniac MJ. She would be the computer nerd making all research needed or pirating stuff like Oracle and gather clues like insomniac MJ to help Spider-man. Peter would continue his brother's "legacy" by working with Gwen like his brother to take down criminals whereas Gwen continues her father's legacy to make New York a safer place and of course Peter and Gwen develop a romance over time.
Anyway, what do you think about this idea for an AU? It in an interesting idea to explore?

What's in a Name? — Miraculous Ladybug
1. DUPAIN-CHENG, AGRESTE & GRAHAM DE VANILY
1.1. Dupain-Cheng
Dupain: "of bread", in French.
Cheng: most likely from 程 (chéng) meaning "schedule", "journey", or "procedure". It is the surname of Chinese-born French academician and writer François Cheng.
Marinette: a diminutive of "Marie" and sometimes used as a form of "Marine", it is ultimately derived from an Egyptian name meaning "love, beloved", which was later associated with the Hebrew words for "bitter" and "rebellion". It is etymologically connected to the name of the Ladybug Miraculous: in languages like English and German, the ladybug is named after the Virgin Mary.
"Marinette" is also a noun in French, namely the feminine form of "marin", meaning "sailor", and was thus most likely also chosen in reference to Sailor Moon. In Middle French, it also meant "compass"—a tidbit to keep in mind when watching Captain Hardrock.
The name is very old-fashioned. It was most frequently used from 1927 to 1957, owing to the popularity of the book series "Contes du chat perché", whose main characters were named Delphine and Marinette.
Tom: short form of "Thomas", which comes from an Aramaic word meaning "twin". References series creator Thomas Astruc.
Sabine: from the name of an Italic tribe that inhabited what is now Lazio. Is a reference to the woman who initially inspired Thomas Astruc to create Miraculous Ladybug.
Gina: short form of several Italian names that end with "-gina", such as Regina or Georgina. Was popularized by Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida, whose birth name was Luigina.
Rolland: English variant of "Roland", which is in turn derived from two Germanic elements meaning "fame" and either "land" or "brave". Roland was the name of a semi-legendary Frankish military leader, whose story is told in the epic poem "La Chanson de Roland". Aside from the historical associations, it was probably chosen as a pun on "rolling pin".
Wang: "king", in Mandarin.
1.2. Agreste
Agreste: meaning "rustic" in French, it's also used in the figurative sense of "rude, uncivilized". Is also the French word for the greyling butterfly (Hipparchia semele).
Adrien: ultimately derived from the name of an Etruscan city, which in turn might have been derived from a word meaning "water". Was probably chosen in reference to the Adriatic Sea, since Marinette, Luka, and Félix's names also have a nautical theme.
Athanase: from "Athanasios", a Greek name meaning "immortal".
Gabriel: "God is my strongman", in Hebrew. This is the name of an archangel associated with carrying messages from God. Was most likely chosen in reference to fashion designer Coco Chanel, whose real name was Gabrielle.
Émilie: of Latin origin, it is probably derived from the word "aemulus", which means "rival" or "envious, jealous", and is etymologically related to the word "emulate". Is also most likely a reference to Emily Lyman, mother of Harry Osborn.
1.3. Graham de Vanily
Graham: from two Old English words meaning "gravel" and "homestead".
de Vanily: from the word "vanilla". Together with Emilie and Amelie's first names and their other surname, it forms a pun: in French, "Emilie/Amelie Graham de Vanily" sounds kind of like "un milligramme de vanille", meaning "a milligram of vanilla".
Fathom: from a unit of length equal to about 1.8 meters (6 feet, for the Americans), chiefly used in nautical measurements. As a verb, it means "to measure the depth of something", and is also used figuratively to mean "to comprehend, understand".
Félix: from a Latin word meaning "happy, lucky". Used to be Adrien's name in previous drafts of the story, and was thus most probably a reference to both Felix the Cat and Felicia Hardy.
Amélie: from a Germanic word meaning "work, activity".
Colt: from an English word meaning "young male horse", it was most famously the surname of American industrialist Samuel Colt, owner of the Colt firearms company.

So the plotline of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies from the 2000s has always been an obvious inspiration for Miraculous. For those who don’t know or remember, basically Spider-Man’s first nemesis was The Green Goblin, who also happened to be his best friend’s rich, distant, widowed father. Spider-Man and Green Goblin find out each other’s identities over the course of the first movie, and in the final battle, the Green Goblin makes a mistake that leads to his own death. As the man was dying after he'd spiraled in to insanity & his plan to kill Spider-Man backfired on him he used his last words to ask Peter not to tell his son the truth: that he turned out to be a villainous piece of shit. Spider-Man isn’t able to leave before Harry sees him with the dead body of his father. So riddled with horror and sadness and guilt over destroying his best friends' family/leaving him orphaned and wanting to honor that dying wish Peter lets his best friend be devastated believing his superhero persona just murdered Harry's "innocent civilian" father in cold blood and lets the public believe Norman Osborn was just a normal billionaire and not the public menace he actually was.
The next two movie adaptations in the trilogy then explored how the knowledge weighs on Peter and how this all put a strain on their friendship and how Peter now has to listen to his best friend tell him how much he wants to kill his superhero alter ego for revenge. Many civilians hate him and think he’s a danger to the public, and he struggles to balance his personal and hero lives, so for a brief period of time he gives up being Spider-Man before realizing that the city needs him. Harry resolves to kill Spider-Man to avenge his father, but when he’s about to go through with it he discovers Spider-Man’s identity and is devastated to find out it’s his own beloved best friend and can’t bring himself to hurt him. Soon after this, Harry discovers his father’s secret Villain Room within their house and realizes his father was the Green Goblin and has visions of his father compelling him to avenge him and kill Spider-Man despite he himself not wanting to hurt Peter. The end of the second movie is also when Mary Jane, Peter’s love interest, finally learns his identity.
The plot of the third movie is all over the place but tl;dr: Harry becomes the new Green Goblin and is hellbent on killing Spider-Man, while the movie also continues to emphasize through this that Harry loves and would die for his friends, and in the final battle against two other villains, Harry takes a hit for Spider-Man and dies protecting him because his love for Peter won out despite everything.
And as you can see the story starts out having a LOT in common with Miraculous. The hero is a regular boy who is saddled with superpowers, a red suit, and great responsibility, he struggles with balancing his real life and civilian lives, he suffers due to having to keep secrets from his loved ones and hurting his relationships because of it, and he’s not able to be with the girl he loves because of his hero identity. The hero’s rich best friend has a father whose love and approval he yearns for. Said father is a cold, distant widow who changed after his wife (named Emily!) died. He's a famous business owner who is impressed by the hero’s talents as a civilian. He’s also secretly a supervillain/domestic terrorist who progressively loses his sanity over the course of the movie. His identity reveal is a devastating secret that has major impacts on the hero and his best friend.
But then that plot plays out a lot differently than how most people seem to expect the story of Miraculous to play out, at least judging from the trends I see in fanfiction etc. and how they expect the order of events to go. Like with the villain's son not finding out about his father’s villainy at all in the first arc and only learning long after his father is defeated and dies, at the end of the second film. Same with him finding out the hero’s identity. And also with the hero and the best friend/rich villain’s son having a whole angst/enemies arc over how the villainous father’s ghost still hangs between them long after his death.
So my deranged possible prediction for Season 5: At the end of the season Gabriel will die due to something of his own doing (he IS already dying from the cataclysm on his arm as is). There’s also a part in the Spider-Man comics where Spider-Man is briefly able to snap the Green Goblin out of his madness by showing him that his son was emaciated in the hospital, so maybe Gabriel snaps out of his madness when he somehow senti-snaps Adrien out of existence and then realizes what he’s done, leading to Ladybug being able to defeat him and possibly having to use the combined Ladybug & Black Cat Miraculous wish to bring Adrien back (since the final ep is called Re-Creation). Gabriel's last dying wish is that Ladybug not tell Adrien his secret. The world doesn't find out Gabriel Agreste was Hawkmoth and mourns the death of Gabriel Agreste and Ladybug has to carry the secret and guilt alone.
Speculating on what could happen after that in the next season is harder and even more deranged. I'm pretty sure the lovesquare identity reveal is supposed to happen this season but maybe they Don't reveal this season at all and the next season(s) follow the aftermath and consequences of Gabriel’s death, seeing as Spider-Man 2 had Peter struggling with the Green Goblin secret and had both his love interest and his best friend learning his identity. Adrien Agreste is not as vengeful as Harry Osborn is and unlike Harry with Spider-Man before Spider-Man’s identity reveal, Adrien knows and loves Ladybug, so would he actually believe Ladybug killed his father or anything close to it? Could they do a Ladynoir enemies arc? While Adrien and Marinette are dating pre-reveal and Marinette struggles with the weight of the promise she made and the secret she has to keep from the person she loves? The end of the first Spider-Man had Peter and Mary Jane at Norman Osborn’s funeral, with Mary Jane confessing that she loved Peter and Peter rejecting her by saying they should remain Just Friends and breaking her heart, despite spending the entire movie pining for her, because he refuses to put her in danger. In a similar fashion, if we get Adrienette dating pre-reveal this season, maybe they’ll break up? I highly doubt Adrien would have a badboy revenge phase but there’s other ways it could be done. I was wondering how Lila (who is obviously being set up to be the next hawkmoth) could possibly be a more threatening/dangerous villain than a billionaire, but thinking about her lies/manipulation in the context of the plot of the Spider-Man movies and how Peter struggles with the people not trusting him and the media making him out to be a menace after he defeats the Green Goblin...... maybe Lila convinces the public that Ladybug is actually a threat? That her failure led to the death of """Beloved Designer""" Gabriel Agreste? Public enemy Ladybug perhaps?? Vs. conflicted hero Chat Noir??? And then an identity reveal that changes everything??? Idk if I can imagine Chat Noir believing Ladybug could be bad or turning on her especially when they're closer than ever right now but if the cards were played right who knows. Or maybe they'll just have an angst arc without the enemies part?? I probably won't even have an answer to any of this for another 2 years 🥲

I really liked how Spider Man 2 used so many fan favorites and that one does not need knowledge to have such a fun time with this game.
I definitely think this is GoTY due to how well they have progressed Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ stories. I think that while it should stay a single player game; it is pretty nice how they have their combat styles pretty great for a team up.
Spoilers ahead:
The story is excellent. It’s about time I see a Harry with a story that made sense ( I..didn’t like that Peter didn’t want to help Harry nor how he didn’t disguise his voice in The Amazing Spider Man 2. However that’s how I’d imagine Harry and Dale DeHaan did a phenomenal job so it’s cool) and that one hopes that wherever his story goes; you are still going to root for him and hope he wakes up. Norman Osborne was great because the story always makes it clear that he is the villain but you almost wish he’d change with what happened to Harry and Emily but..we know he never will. Not even to save Harry.
Peter Parker’s story. Such a great story for a character who’s going to take a backseat in the next game. I also love how the alien messed around with his inner dark thoughts. It makes me forget the awful Spider Man 3 and that’s more what I’d expect out of Venom. I mean…those were some serious venomous thoughts about Miles Morales and everyone. Like ..wow…. But at the same time; it was great they went that direction. After all, Venom with Tony Todd as the voice actor?
Then the Spider Friends bit was just so heartwarming ..and then breaking. But still, what an amazing job they did with that arc. I’m also glad that Mary Jane had her story and even improved the fact she should be a mini character but give her some cool gameplay. It was nice that Peter moved out the city and decided to stay in Aunt May’s home.
Miles Morales’ arc was so good. From him and Hailey becoming a couple, or rather he will take her on a date finally to him being able to live downstairs from his Uncle Aaron to him and Martin Li. That was some great stories and side missions for Miles. Mysterio arc was pretty good. I liked how it started to seem off after a few missions but since I was having fun; I just ignored the clues lol. I did think Peter was definitely far gone because when he snapped at Rio Morales; I thought “ oh this is how Peter Parker dies. RIP buddy”. Not to think Spider Man 3 game but it will be interesting to see where he goes from here.
The side missions themselves are great. It’s nice seeing all the Easter Eggs and also, I really didn’t even realize some of the characters were who they were and that’s what made the game even more fun. From Cletus Cassidy to Yuri as Wraithe which made it pretty fun. The DLC, whatever it is, it’s be nice to see where that goes..but we don’t need anymore Black Cat.
The scenery is amazing. They really outdid themselves and it’s pretty great that it looks like New York ( I’d assume from pics and movies lol. Never been) and that it’s just so animated. The cast was great. The gameplay is awesome and I highly recommend.

What were you doing before you logged on here? I was sitting outside on the back deck watching the birds at the bird feeders, then I came inside and made a cup of tea and got on the computer.
What was the last airline you flew on, and where were you going? The one my husband flies for - I don't want to disclose his employer online LOL. We were flying from Dublin to Washington DC.
Which of your breakups was the hardest for you to get over? I don't have any exes, I've never experienced a breakup.
What did you have for dinner last night? Sushi.
Do you write poetry? If so, what kind of poetry do you write? Nope, I'm terrible at any type of creative writing. I do sometimes like to read poetry, though. Actually, my usernames on both here and Bzoink/ProBoards were inspired by poems. One by Emily Dickinson, and a haiku by Matsuo Basho.
Have your parents traveled to any countries that you have not been to? Yeah, my parents are fairly well-traveled. Between the two of them, the places they've been to (that I haven't been to) are France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland (my Granny and Granddad lived there when my mom was in college so she lived there with them during her summers off), Greece, Turkey, Israel, and Japan. Maybe some other countries but I can't remember; those are the ones I know for sure.
Did you have acne when you were a teenager? No, I've never been acne-prone. I only get acne if I forget to use my moisturizer, but that doesn't happen often, I usually moisturize 2x a day because my skin is really dry.
What's your favorite type of gemstone? Hmmm, probably sapphires or moonstones.
Do you prefer sleeping in total darkness, or do you like to have a little bit of light? I like a bit of light. I have color-changing Hue bulbs in all the lamps in my bedroom, and I set one of them to 1% brightness on a very deep orange color.
Who was your favorite children's book author when you were a kid? Mary Pope Osborne (I loved the Magic Tree House series). Then when I was a little older, like 9/10ish, I got really into the Redwall series by Brian Jacques.
Would you rather take a class in fencing or archery? We did a unit on each of those in 9th grade gym class, and I remember liking archery a lot more.
Has a significant other ever given you the silent treatment during a fight? No, never.
What is something you took for granted when you were younger? My happy childhood. A loving family, a nice house in a nice town, a top-notch education, extracurricular activities. I didn't realize til my late teen years/early adulthood just how lucky I am to have grown up with all of that.
Have you ever seen the movie Blue is the Warmest Colour? Nope.
How many bathrooms does your house have? Three (two full bathrooms and one half bathroom).
What was the last thing you borrowed from someone? I'm not sure.
What are your favorite condiments to put on a burger? I like either ketchup/mayo/lettuce, or ketchup/mustard/onions.
What color are your best friend's eyes? Blue.
Have you ever had a stalker? Nope, not that I know of at least.
Would you rather work in an office setting or work from home? Work from home.

Raise A Glass To The Unfinished Works I Wrote On My Way Home
I'm gonna post here some ideas I'm working on since last year for possible fanfics I'll post, not that I expect people to read, I just like to expose my silly thoughts. I deleted a few works here because I wasn't really ready to share them yet, but now I'm saying fuck it, we ball.
Caution warnings for: unlikely friendships, heavy themes within mundane scenarios, Otto's (shameful) military history and how it affected his life, family issues, internal homophobia that's treated like a plot device, Peter's anxiety putting himself in armed conflict situations, too many headcanons to fit into your luggage, drama, and all the characters running on five cups of coffee and takeout in a daily basis.
There will be more posts about specific works and I'll cite which character they're focused on. Let's start off with this one, that I wanted to base my entire alternate universe within the game (not Diaverse, that's an AU based on Earth 616)
– An alternative meeting between Otto and Peter much earlier in the game. Focused on Otto's point of view.
Otto has been struggling with his finances ever since he stopped taking up every job offer because he's hopeful to invest on a start-up. There's a planned trip for Schenectady to visit a relative he hasn't spoken to since his father's passing, but to level out that he has the company of Anna Watson, one of his ex-wife's friends that stook out the most for her support and their common relation to one May Parker. Anna makes a visit to Otto and they start to discuss plannings for the Mother's Day celebration that's gonna take place in the Parker's residence. Anna is insisting that Otto don't bother to help because she knows his situation is tough, but he's quite offended by that and tells her he is capable of handling himself.
Yes, the idea was to introduce Peter and Otto at this party. But they don't hold up a very productive conversation. Actually, May's the one to provide information about Peter, since the boy's very shy in Otto's opinion (he doesn't know Peter idolizes him to the point of hero ship). And in talking with May, she likes to draws the similarities between them, and furthermore asking why Otto has been quite distant and hasn't talked to her like they used to do. Otto gives up and tells her he hasn't been the same since leaving Oscorp, and is impressed because he never mentioned that to anyone. Especially because he thinks back to how he felt when his father died, it was the same week he had that doctor's appointment and so many exams had been scheduled. How sour the nights tasted on his tongue, and he swears there was a day his hand twitched with the weight of a [gun]. May tells him there's too much on their heads lately, Otto agrees and says she is quite busy herself, referencing May's participation in protests. May then reveals she's mulling over an opportunity to do something for herself that doesn't evolve around Peter and Ben's world (It's F.E.A.S.T). She loves them, but Peter has grown up too fast and she smiles remembering about that one time they brought a very cheap microscope for him, he looked so happy but even more out of their reach, ready to seek his own ambitions. Otto connects it to his adulthood. They talk some more until Anna arrives, as well as a few more guests, namely Mary Jane Watson and Harry Osborn. Otto knows them, Harry a little bit more, and immediately jokingly offers him a drink since his “peacock of a father” isn't there to complain at the lack of white wine. Otto knows Harry tries to, but he isn't remotely like Norman at all. There's a bit more story between Otto and the Osborns, because he had known Emily in health and sickness, and she was the only reason he continued to assist in Norman's research.
The idea was to play around with a thought I had: “This teased friendship with May... and then Peter... Why not expand on Otto's history connecting him to important people on Peter's life as well? Maybe a foster sense of belonging overgrows him whenever he sees Peter working on a contraption, May playing around to make him laugh, Anna's visits... and then his trip to Schenectady is cancelled since he's no longer feeling homesick, and starts to see more to this life he has build where he is right now.”
Anyway, this probably will manifest into a mocking one shot, where I'm gonna include Otto receiving visits from a chosen group of people [grant committee] from a heath care organization specialized in assisting veterans from the army, to his laboratory. He's still figuring out the name. All the while having some talks with May, now well adjusted on her job in F.E.A.S.T and they touch on the terms of grief and how it changes the relationships around you. She felt helpless, and that made her understand Peter a bit more, even before what happened [arriving late, be it for school or other compromises]. Even Anna was also a lot more present on her life after that, May jokes about growing sick of how much she craves Anna's carrot cake and hibiscus tea every time she shows up at her doorstep, claiming she has never been a fan of neither of those things.
The idea was to motivate Otto to interact more with the boy when he showed up at their home in Queens, leading to him to offer the internship in the future. Despite the game having Peter say it was because of May's word alone, I wanted to expand more and have it make sense for the context of both Otto's and Peter's lives connecting paths in some way. First May comparing their behaviors, Otto's conversation in Peter's bedroom at the Mother's Day party where Peter told him they met once in Midtown High. At the time Otto was in a dark place and apologizes for not remembering Peter's face. And of course, graduation day. Everything to lead up to Peter visiting the laboratory for the first time, and he feels like it's a Christmas morning. When Peter reads the plate “Octavius Industries” he thinks too loudly that it escapes his mouth about the lack of creativity in the name, as it's too much similar to other famous enterprises. Otto is confused to why would that be a bad thing, and Peter tells him people are sick of seeing fancy names and not actual changes. Otto tells him there was none of that discussion when he was in grad school, and Peter responds stating that Otto had never "hit the pot" back then. There's a little bit of backstory, because I can't contain myself, about Otto smoking weed in the army and other little rebellions he did because he was away from home, but that's for another day.
I did plan romance between them in this work, but it'll be official only next in a series I wanted to start based on this. It would explore other characters as well, like Robbie and Betty from the Bugle, Mary Jane, Curt Connors and Martin Li. And of course, many are focused on Peter's point of view by then.
Here's a preview of the three main stories (much like the game has three chapters in the DLC, ha) all to build the timeline filled with the how's and the why's of their relationship. To name a few: How did Peter know he was in love, wasn't it just a hero crush? Otto had definitely fallen first, that's for sure, and has been pining over something he thinks he don't deserve. Why does he feel that way about Peter specifically? Is it the age thing? The work thing? Is it his hot dog stinky breath thing? The thingiest thing that things? Well, that and other questions I have from the many conversations with my mirror that needed answers, so I wrote it all down in my WhatsApp group in the exact exasperated way, with additional exclamation points and emojis.
– Betty is Peter's oldest and by far his most successful workplace friendship, he scaped many of Triple J's trash talking because of her, and she was the one who put most faith in his passion for photography beyond his work with Spider-Man. He's surprised one afternoon where she announces her marriage to Ned Leeds on spring and handles him an invitation. Peter has some controversial opinions about Ned but is nonetheless attending because whatever makes Betty happy must have some positive side to it. It's a short story centered around Peter venting about his insecurities regarding romantic relationships, so the stage Otto and him are is pretty low.
– Otto is planning to take Maria Alice's hand the next weekend, but some circumstances at Oscorp are making harder and harder for him to concentrate on the perfect scenario to ask her, and Norman seems to be holding secrets from him. Luckily, Curt Connors, the intern that had been working with them for six months now is not so dull headed and actually helps him behind the curtains with a special case that arrived this morning. This will be a multiple chapter work to explain why Otto was so much in a dark places at the time he left Oscorp, discovering things not only about one of his closest friend but also realizing some things about himself. Let's just say Otto's affinity for Peter and their future relationship isn't entirely unknown waters. That leads me to think Otto is pretty much more confident about this thing between them because, despite what believe, Otto is more experienced than Peter, in matters of the deep form of love that is.
– Robbie Robertson and Mary Jane Watson have to work alongside Spider-Man thanks to the causality of the trouble they're putting themselves into for someone they believe is NYPD's bait to dismantle Fisk's art auctions networks linked to the criminal underground, only because like them, the guy was at the wrong place at the wrong time, but heavy allegations are working against them, and it's up to Peter Parker to believe that the police might be wrong, but Robbie and MJ aren't going to sit down and watch the circus burn. This is also going to be a multiple chapters work, focusing more on establishing Robbie as the owner of the Daily Bugle and how he could restore its reputation after the rash exit of Jonah Jameson, as well MJ's journey to debut herself in her new job as an investigative reporter. It's kind of a sequel to that one story with Betty, because it features lots of scenes with Otto and their developing relationship, a little more mature from the conversations they had and all the miscommunication. I think an action packed mystery works perfectly to conclude a romance.
When this is finished, I'll probably do anthology works, which I'll discuss later in other posts. Just a little reminder for myself to not loose track of the stuff I have divided in many google Docs that are driving me insane. That and I want to talk about Diaverse Octospider too, because why not?
