Birthday Gift Reveal! This is the best gift I’ve ever received. It took the effort, creativity and cooperation of 6 people in 4 countries! I’ve long loved this little carved carnelian cat ring from Egypt, currently at the British Museum. But I always figured it would just be something I appreciated from afar. However my Sweetie made it a realized dream with the help of curator from the Museum, the talented design help of Wendy Brandes and her gem carving and goldsmith team, a box maker in Ukraine and my lovely MIL. The original little swiveling ring is possibly 3000-ish years old has a carved wedjat of the Eye of Ra on the base. My ring has a slightly different ring shape but is carved with all the same detail and is a sturdier 18kt gold. It’s hard to show all the intricate details but I love it’s uniqueness, especially the tiny ears. We had to take it to the Met to do a small shoot in the Egyptian wing. It took months of secret planning and effort and I’m simply blown away by it! 😻😻😻 Images of the round ring (slightly blurry are the online pics. I present to you the Goddess of Protection and Independence - Bastet!

So, here's the story of how I "made" this little cutie! I bought a six-piece Chi's Sweet Home figure set on eBay for about £3, in the hopes of customising a couple of them.

I knew I really wanted to make Bastet, as I've always loved Egyptian mythology, and the symbolism of cats in that culture, and she is one of my favourite deities, so she had to be represented!

Painting her was easy - I used black, gold, green and white acrylic paint. I also painted her toe beans (which I forgot to take a photo of!)

So, overall, pretty bloody happy with how she turned out!

PS: I'm going to "make" a Cheshire Cat one, but idk which direction to take him in - whimsical or creepy?
