i did it
ALright so at Chipotle we have an auditor come in every quarter to walk around the store with an Mod to make sure our store is up to food safety standards. The company is called EcoSure. My Field Leader has about 10 stores and 3 of them have already been audited,, and all three of them failed.
So yesterday- (we have no idea ahead of time when EcoSure will randomly pop up btw) They came and my GM was gone so he obviously had to use me instead. Since i started last year my number one goal has been to pass the EcoSure walk. It’s all Chipotle works for. It’s the biggest deal for the company - food safety wise.
And I did it. I was the one who brought our store to victory. I’m the only one in Erics patch that has passed the EcoSure walk so far. And it was my very first one. I was so pissed that my gm wasn’t there at first because I thought he planned it.. but there’s no way. + I know he wouldn’t do that. Also: now I have a 90% EcoSure walk under my belt.

The role of floral scent in pollinator attraction
The role of floral scent in pollinator attraction https://ift.tt/8fRjI9b A new study published in AoB PLANTS by Mayumi Vega-Polanco and colleagues investigated how the scent of a buzz-pollinated Solanaceae species varies between populations in Mexico and the United States and found that although bees differentially visit plants of the different locations, floral extract alone cannot explain the differences in preference by bumblebees. The authors suggest that other factors, such as the presence of nectar or the colour of the flowers, may also play a role in pollinator visitation.  The chemistry of floral scents acts as a powerful messenger, guiding pollinators towards their nectar-rich destinations. However, little is known about how variation in floral fragrances affects pollinator preferences.  The research team, from ECOSUR in México, used a variety of methods to study the floral scent of Solanum rostratum (Solanaceae). They first extracted the volatile compounds from flowers of plants from both locations and they then used gas chromatography coupled with spectrometry (GC-MS) to identify and quantify the different compounds in the extracts.  They found that the floral extracts from plants in the two populations contained 13 different volatile compounds that varied seasonally, with some of them such as methyl salicylate, being higher in the spring than in the fall.  Interestingly, the relative abundance of these compounds varied between populations. For example, the extract from US plants contained higher levels of the compound benzyl acetate, while the extract from Mexican plants contained higher levels of methyl salicylate.  Speed dating for Bumble Bees. Image: Vega-Polanco et al. 2023. The research group then conducted two behavioural experiments to test how these differences in floral scent affected pollinator visitation. In the first experiment, they placed plants from both populations in a field cage and observed which plants were visited by bumble bees, Bombus impatiens. They found that bumble bees visited plants from the US populations more frequently than plants from the Mexican ones.  In the second experiment, the researchers presented bumble bees with a choice between extracts from flowers of Mexican and US plants. They found that the bees showed no preference for either extract.  The findings challenge the conventional wisdom surrounding floral scents and their sway over pollinators. The authors conclude: “Although bumble bees visited plants from US populations more frequently than they did with plants from Mexican populations, we found no difference in the preference of B. impatiens for floral extracts. Other signals, besides floral volatiles, should be further evaluated to explain the pollinator preference for plants from US populations.”

November marks #ManateeAwarenessMonth! West Indian Manatees (Trichechus manatus) live in shallow coastal areas where they feast on aquatic plants. Known by the nickname "sea cows", they can graze for more than 5 hours a day. This photograph comes from ECOfronteras, Vol. 11, No. 30 (April 2007), a research magazine published by El Colegio de la Frontera Sur (@ecosurmx), a public research center attached to the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) of #Mexico.

Any fucking ways. I get 2 days off now. Nice that I didn’t even get to go to the fucking patch meeting because I had to run the store. Even though I got us a 90% on our EcoSure walk. Cool that I don’t even get to celebrate my own victory because you people can never fucking show up to your fucking shift kill yourself

Recap of the week so far because it's been hella weird, yo
Monday
A drunk woman I'd never met in my entire life tried to marry me off to her son (who "has two kids and a few demons, but is such a good person")
Tuesday
A guy at a used car lot insisted he'd "put this daughters in this car and let them drive to California" and it died before we could get it out of the lot for a test drive
Wednesday
There was an incident at work with a pressure washer while we were trying to clean up for the district manager's visit the next morning. It's fine.
Thursday
Angels wept (and so did I) as I signed up for my seventh bingo challenge so far this year, and spring break reached peak nightmare at work (I went on the record: "If I wasn't morally opposed to abandoning all of you in this time of need, I would take myself out by any means necessary.")
Friday
After dreading it for weeks, I arrived at work to learn the EcoSure inspector was on site...and making his exit, but this good luck was short lived when half the technology in the building crashed at the same time
Saturday
Manager Stan handed me an envelope when I clocked in and said "Here's the raise that should have been on your last check," which amounted to a whopping three dollars.
Not counting all of the strange one-on-one interactions with the strange people out in full force. Good Lord, I need a drink.

#Gemiyap proudly announces the new İstanbul local store import for world leading EAL Marine Oils manufacture #Vickersoils Hydrox Bio 100 and Ecosure HSE 32. Proven performance OEM approved and VGP compliant Expert, personal technical support Worldwide stock availability With the appearance of a growing number of regulatory requirements and initiatives mandating or incentivising the adoption of EALs, we have the experience and expertise to ease the transition from mineral lubricants, and deliver cost efficiency and performance benefits in the process. In 2002 Vickers Oils became the first company to make Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) commercially available to the global marine market, in response to requests from concerned customers who wished to minimise the potential impact of their operations on the marine environment. Eleven years later the use of EALs in below-the-waterline equipment was mandated for vessels calling in US waters by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in its 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP). In addition to improving environmental credentials, the use of EALs is one way in which vessel operators can achieve real cost saving benefits through superior performance. Our EALs offer vessel operators the following distinct benefits: Meet the requirements of the 2013 VGP Offer superior performance compared to conventional lubricants. Have been used by some operators as evidence of continuous improvement for compliance programmes such as ISO 14001 and TMSA #marine #environment #compliance #experience #environmental #vgp #marpol #marineoil #safety #pollutio #oil (Gemiyap A.Ş.
