My Trafalgar Law HC's!! pt.15🤍🤍
ft. Kanna!! Longer Edition
Here are 5 random things that made Law bawl his eyes out:
-The story of Hatori and Kana Sohma
-The ending of Deemo
-The true ending of Undertale
-Rengoku's death
-The ending of Yomawari: Night Alone
Furthermore, Hatori Sohma is his favorite character in Fruits Basket.
I think one of the things that Law really likes about Kanna is that he sees Lami's kindness and personality in her a lot. It's probably what sparks his protectiveness and is more understanding of her. He enjoys the idea of what could've been.
I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but since it is a really really old HC of mine, I'll say it again:
I think Law has some musical talent. I think he can sing, play some of the piano, the ocarina, the tambourine, and write sheet music.
But, it's been awhile, so he'll need some warming up.
When he first heard "I Need You" by BTS, he learned how to play it on the piano.
I think their HYYH Era in general might've helped him pick up playing the piano a bit more.
Speaking of BTS, Kanna reminds him of V.
To Kanna, Law reminds her of Suga.
If Kanna and Law were tarot cards, here's what they'd be:
Law-The Moon, Emperor
Kanna-The Sun, Empress
Together-The Lovers
I honestly don't know what his favorite season is. I think it would make sense for summer, spring or fall to be his favorites.
However, I do think he would hate the winter, since he seems like someone not particularly fond of snow or cold weather.
In a prompt list I did with an old friend, the question asked was,
"Board games, card games, tabletop games and such, what game do they like to play together or with the crew? Who’s good at what?"
Here was my response for Kanna and Law:
"Law and Kanna play chess. They bond a lot over it. They also play BS. Which is a game where you put down cards and call BS if you don’t believe them. If they’re not lying you have to take all the cards. If they are then they have to take all the cards. Winner gets down to 0 cards. Law and Kanna are equally good at this game and chess. Law finds it really attractive that she can spot his lies LOL."
Another game I think they'd play together is Fluttering Souls.
Tumblr media
They might've also tried Karuta, but Law was too busy for it.
In that same prompt list, the question was asked,
"What store would they shop in at the mall? Or what area? How about law? Would he stand outside this store and wait?"
Here was my response:
" I am from the US. So, my answers will be based from there.
Law would probably be someone who’s very introspective in his selections and will basically slowly narrow it down if he doesn’t know what he wants, regardless. He’d spend a lot of time analyzing and exhausting all of the options on price and quality before he buys anything. You’ll be spending a lot of time with him if you go shopping with him.
- As for US mall stores, I think Law would shop at:
Vintage Stock
Zumiez
Men's Wearhouse
Yankee Candle
Old Navy
Rue/Forever 21
Hollister
Pacsun
Tillies
(I put a number based on how long you’d be here, Tillies being in and out and Vintage Stock being you’re never seeing your family again.)
I think in general, law would shop in bookstores, clothing stores, or stores with like music and stuff for his coin collection. He’d be on eBay alot also looking at the prices of coins and always keeping tabs. He has a journal dedicated for coin collecting and like writes everything down. He’s very offline."
In another couple's prompt list I did, the question was asked,
"What do they think of each other's family? And how does the family feel?"
Keeping in mind that I made Kanna to be Koby's older sister, here was my response:
"Law is really interested in meeting her family. Kanna doesn’t talk much about her family, but Law thinks that they seem really awesome. Kanna feels the same. I’m sure that Law would be very awkward when if he meets Kanna’s family.
Ideally, I’m sure their families would adore each other and like seeing Kanna and Law together. Koby and Lami would get along really well, too. Lami would adore Kanna, and Koby and Law would eventually gain a mutual respect for one another. Kanna’s dad would be the only one who struggles to like Law."
No Surprises Spoilers Ahead
In a prompt list, I answered a question regarding Kanna and Law's dynamic. Here is what I said:
"This couple can best be described as 'right person, wrong time' with a sun and moon dynamic. Had they met in another life, they’d be a very happy couple with a daughter (Taiga) and possibly a little brother (Ame).
After Dressrosa, Law helped Kanna remember how to love through his kindness. While Kanna began to love once again, Law learned to become vulnerable. Together, they were eventually able to stop “running away” from each other and reciprocate their love. Their relationship took time, patience, and many sacrifices. It was a rocky road and they still struggle at times.
Yet, their love was a choice, and neither regretted it one bit."

Above: the sheet music for Shakin' the Blues Away. Photo: ebay
The Ziegfeld Follies of 1927 was the first Follies to feature a star performer--Eddie Cantor--and the first to have all its songs written by a single composer--Irving Berlin. Although it received tepid reviews ("His formula has never failed," wrote Time magazine. "But as nothing subscribes more unreservedly to the law of diminishing returns than [a] succession of splendors, this last superbly heralded Follies achieves only another anticlimax."), it was a hit, running for 167 performances from 1927-28.
In addition to Cantor (who appeared in nearly half the numbers), the show featured Claire Luce, Cliff Edwards (aka Ukelele Ike; 13 years later he was the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Disney's Pinocchio), Ruth Etting, and the Brox Sisters.
"Shakin' the Blues Away" was the show's big number, and Etting made her breakout appearance leading it.
Tumblr media

There was also a jungle scene with live animals, in which Luce entered riding an ostrich. One night the bird left the stage in a flurry and, instead of depositing Luce in the wings, kept on walking, out the stage door and onto West 43rd St.
Below is the first page of the program for the October 17, 1927 performance. Note the sententious legend, "He who glorifies beauty glorifies truth." Would Keats have approved?

The 1927 Follies was the last of 21 annual shows. It was revived briefly in 1931, but didn't continue. The Follies were essentially vaudeville, only much more sumptuous. Later in 1927, Ziegfeld produced Show Boat at his own theater, and it heralded a change in Broadway musicals.

Urusei Yatsura Art Book Review!
Before I get into the review, I want to gush about how much I adore this book, the series as a whole, and its characters! I started watching the 2022 anime, after seeing a clip of it. The art style is so cute and very colorful!
Tumblr media
Prepare for a long read!
Tumblr media
I've been keeping up with this series a lot lately, I recommend it if you like slice-of-life mixed with some silliness (and great animation)! Recently, I started watching the original series, which is just as amazing as this one- there's also things that weren't shown (yet?) in the 2022 version of the series. I would like to read the original manga soon, too!
Alright,
Time for the book review! Please note that I'm not showing things in any particular order, and that I'm mainly going to be talking about how cool stuff is lol. I got the book from Ebay (that's what I use the most), and it arrived safe and sound a few weeks later.
Tumblr media
The cover art is really cute, especially with the two chibis on the bottom left! I really love how they went about shading Lum's hair in this iteration of the character. I don't have any translations for anything in this book, unfortunately, but we can still appreciate the art!
Tumblr media
Upon opening the book, there is a poster that unfolds- above is the front:
Tumblr media
And here is the back! The art on both sides is really charming, and the backgrounds are absolutely stunning, especially in that front image. There's just something about it that I really like, from Ataru and Lum's interaction, and the lighting: it works together so well!
On the flipside, all of the characters running is really fun to look at- each character is running (or flying) in a different way, it's subtle, but it shows a small piece of their personality, in a sense.
Tumblr media
This is the page before the character design section of the book, which is absolutely stunning: The artists use a lot of patterns and shapes, and I'm all here for it!
Here are some snippets from the character design portion:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing I really enjoy about character design is the expressions, and the various outfits the characters are drawn in. Each character has their own unique sense of fashion! I like Ataru's clothing choice, it's stuff that I could see myself wearing- comfy long sleeved tops and simple, cute button downs!
The expressions are so cutesy and cartoonish, I can't get enough of it! As a character artist myself, these pages are great references on how to go about fleshing out my own characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is Lum's character sheet, as well as the expression part of Mendo's- his expressions are extra silly so I added them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This art for the Highlight and Staff Interviews are super cute! Lum's outfit with the suspenders is adorable- and the fact Ataru's outfit is coordinated makes it all the more cute!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The visuals for the opening and endings are stunning- I have to sit and watch them each time, plus the music that accompanies it makes it even better! I need to go back and watch it frame by frame, its a masterpiece~ I can't get over the use of color in this series, it's amazing!!! Take a closer look at the visuals here, it's worth it!
You know what, watch the first Opening/Ending here
And the second Opening/Ending here
And check out the channel I got these from (UruYatsu Sensei), they've got full episodes of another series by the same creator, Maison Ikkoku, and a few Urusei Yatsura episodes as well. I appreciate them uploading these, because all the other ones were those interpolated 60 FPS nonsense (ugh).
That's all I got for this review, I hope you enjoyed reading/looking at all the art here, If you're an art book enjoyer like me, I recommend getting this book! And check out the series (OG and 2022 ver.) if you're interested!
Thanks for reading! (Back of book illustration below)

Exciting Josefina Treasure Hunt
Tumblr media
I bought the most amazing lot from goodwill last week. This trunk was the feature piece, and opening it was so fun because the pictures were a particular brand of AWFUL so there were a lot of surprises inside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lot of food stuffs from both the Christmas and Winter collections. This silver tray I thought at first was just a random extra, but luckily there were a few of the cookies which gave me a clue to look at the Bizcochitos set, and sure enough, the tray is part of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the random clothing items. There was a second lot from the same goodwill that had more clothes (including more of some of these outfits) but it went for a bundle too so I didn't also get it. The black socks from Josefina's Winter set are like legit wool (feeling?) and heavy.
Tumblr media
This turtle that goes on eBay for like 70 bucks someone please explain THAT one to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These!! The box for the farm was just visible in the listing, but only the outside so I had no idea if there was anything in there, and the desk wasn't even in any of the photos! And they are both complete, the desk has her entire school lesson even the quill.
Tumblr media
The sheet music from her piano!!! I couldn't believe it.
Tumblr media
On the right in this photo, is the door from the oven and a tiny piece of fluff. Which luckily had a PC tag on the back so I didn't toss it immediately. Because when I looked up to make sure this was the door from the oven, the little fluff was in the photo too! And I remembered the story of putting the wool on the paddle to check if the oven was ready. I had no idea they actually sold it. And how it hasn't gotten lost.
Do you think the person who owned this owned a complete set of Josefina's things?? There is almost something from everything, (except the furniture, but evidence for the piano at least). Anyway, what a fun treasure box to open!
I will definitely be selling the farm and desk, as I already own those (baby!Caroline made at least a few smart choices about what she wanted). I haven't really decided on anything else yet. Let me know if you're super interested in something.

Okay so, I found this record on eBay some months back— it was a series of “open end interviews” sent to radio stations to promote Wait Until Dark. Basically, the radio announcer would pretend to be interviewing personnel associated with the film—this included Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, Richard Crenna, Terence Young, Mel Ferrer, and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. The announcer would essentially be speaking to pre-existing tracks, aided by a cue sheet that came with the record.
Unfortunately, the listing disappeared but I did save some of the screencaps and was able to dig up a few more recently. (Was tempted to buy it, but I fiddled around too long. Also, I don’t have a record player anyway and have no real reason to get one, especially with the limited space in my apartment. Maybe if someone bought it, they’ll put it on YouTube, who knows?)
The information on the record case includes some trivia I wasn’t aware of before… though considering this thing was made for advertising purposes, I do take it with a grain of salt—after all, I came across newspaper ads from 1967 which claimed Hepburn didn’t wear contact lens when my other research suggests she at least wore them some of the time. However, these seem likely, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Here’s some stuff which stands out:
Set designer George Jenkins (one of the film’s two alumni from the original Broadway production) purposefully minimized the amount of bright colors used in the apartment “to create an understated atmosphere in which the lovely Miss Hepburn’s simple, ‘off-the-peg’ wardrobe has impact without being obtrusive.” (Alas, there’s no mention of why a topless mermaid paper towel roll is present in the Hendrix kitchen! I suppose that will just be an eternal movie mystery.)
Apparently, the doll used as the film’s Macguffin was a pricey item in real life, even without any heroin inside—at least, it was for the studio. According to the trivia listed here, “Developing the tune, choosing a music box, inserting transistors and clothing the tiny musical doll used in ‘Wait Until Dark’ took two months and cost $2,000.”
Tumblr media
Under the story synopsis section, Lisa is explicitly described as a model who dabbles in dope smuggling. This is something I find interesting since we never actually receive such information in the film itself (let alone the original play). About all we get is that Lisa is a drug mule who just knows how to rock a mink coat and mini skirt ensemble. However, the model detail is something I see on quite a few promotional materials from this film—it was also included in a Japanese press book.
I’m guessing this was just included because Lisa was played by Samantha Jones, who was a famous model looking to break into acting at the time. (Apparently she also studied with Lee Strasberg. A shame she never had more of an acting career—I always thought she made a big impact in her five minutes of screentime here.)

quite a hefty loan
My son Hamish got heavily into Led Zeppelin.
And he fell in love with Jimmy Page’s playing,
And he asked for an electric guitar for Christmas.
And I bought him one, alongside an amp and
Sheet music and I paid a guitarist friend I knew to
Come over to the house to give him lessons.
Hamish got bored of the lessons fairly quickly.
My friend said to me, “I don’t think Hamish is
Practising with his work. He needs to practise
If he wants to get anywhere.” And Hamish, after
A while, said he didn’t want to do the lessons
Anymore, and then he gave up the guitar altogether.
I asked him why and he said, “Because I’ll never
Be as good as Jimmy Page.”
So I sold the electric guitar and amp on eBay. And
I lost a lot of money as a result.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Hamish became interested in a girl in his school.
Then he was going out with her, and she would
Come around to the house and they would go into
His bedroom for hours, with a shut door, and it
Was all a bit weird.
Hamish was a goodlooking kid and I suppose
The girl was pretty as well. And they were only
Fifteen, the both of the, so I thought it was fairly
Innocent. It was in November when they hooked up
And then in February Valentine’s Day was coming
Near, and Hamish knocked on my office door
And coyly asked me for some money so he could
Get her some gifts for the day. I ended up giving him
£40. Because he kinda sweet talked his way into
Describing the gifts he needed to get. And I regretted
It afterwards because he’d fucked me over. I shouldn’t
Have given him that much.
And what made it worse was that he broke up
With the blooming girlfriend one week after Valentine’s
Day. He didn’t tell me about it; told his mother
About it. And he was all blue and depressed in
His room, despite it being him who pulled the plug on her.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Hamish got into soccer for a brief spell, after watching
Liverpool FC win the Champion’s League. He said
He wanted to try out at the local team, wanted to get into
Football. He’d never been sporty and he wasn’t particularly
Athletic and he barely knew the rules of soccer.
He asked for a Liverpool top: and I said no.
But I got him a pair of football boots and drove him down
To the local park where some middle aged men
Ran a amateur squad. They said they’d give him a
Trial of four weeks to see if he showed any promise.
Hamish went to the first practise. He was totally
Exhausted: I picked him up at the park and there
Was dried sweat and mud all over his face.
He went to the second practise and he played
A game or two with the team. I asked him how
It had gone, on the drive back home, and he responded,
“I didn’t get much of the ball.”
And on the third time, I didn’t drive him home,
Because he walked home from the park by himself.
He went up to his bedroom and shut the door.
When I asked what was wrong he said he had chucked
His boots away and that he wasn’t going back to
Training ever again.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Those were all in his youth. These stories.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Hamish did pretty well at university and then he got
A job and then he met this woman and got engaged
To her. I liked his fiancé as well. She seemed good for him.
Hamish asked me for a loan of money [quite a hefty loan]
In the lead up to his wedding.
It had been a long, dragged out affair with the engagement.
And the wedding event was supposed to be this huge affair.
Extravagant, and Hamish said he was struggling to pay
For all of it, but if I could lend him some money then he
Would be able to pay me back after his honeymoon?
So I sent him the money.
And, ten days later, he and the fiancé had had a massive
Fight. And she had stormed off and gone to stay with her sister.
It turned out that she and Hamish had been bickering for
Months and that their relationship was in freefall.
So why the fuck did Hamish ask me for all of that money
If he knew that she and him were headed for Hell!
They split up. And the wedding was called off.
Two years after all of that, I called up Hamish and asked him
If he could send me that loan money back from the event.
He got offended and aggressive and told me that he didn’t
Have the funds for it at the moment. But he could send it
Back in the future. … He never did.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I’m an old man, now. And Hamish is approaching his middle ages.
He has a new, actual wife. Has had one for a while and he
Has a son too and so that makes me a grandfather.
Last Sunday it was Father’s Day. I’ve never really cared about
Card company holidays. Meh, I don’t mind them. But, Hamish
Got in contact with me on the weekend before that to say
He would drive down to see me on the Sunday. I was looking
Forward to seeing him and was touched that he had made this vow.
And on Sunday morning he texted me to say that he had the flu
And wasn’t able to come. He was so sad. Sorry Dad, he said.

Confetti
Well, another week has come and gone, and as the working hours of Friday float away, my mind goes to think of Confetti fluttering on the wind.
The act of throwing confetti comes from Northern Italy in the middle ages, however it was far from pleasant, with anything from old leaves to rotten eggs launched at noble folk as they made their way through town. Over time this changed to the nobles tossing small sweets from their carriages at the common folk, many of which were Sugared Almonds or Coriander Seeds. The almonds are known as ‘Confetti’, and this is how the name came to be. In the late 1800s the first recorded instance of throwing paper confetti came into place in Paris on New Years Eve, and from there the tradition of throwing paper confetti during a celebration stuck.
Confetti is what started it all for Redhill Confetti. Ten years ago when I was planning my own wedding, I knew I wanted a vintage style theme for decor and such, and having seen some mass produced paper confetti online for a considerable price I knew I could not only make it myself, but do it much more economically. So armed with an old romance novel and a heart shaped hole punch, I spent many an evening in the run up to our big day simply punching paper hearts out of the torn sheets of the novel.
With the wedding over and the honeymoon a long and distant memory, we were still left with a large box of confetti, and rather than throw it away I bagged it up and put it on Ebay. Within a couple of days it had all sold, with people messaging me to ask if I had any more. An idea formed in the back of our minds and at that point the starting blocks of Redhill Confetti were set into place.
Our very first made-to-order product was actually Fifty Shades of Grey confetti, with the book series at the height of its popularity, people loved the idea of delicate small paper hearts fluttering down around them, only for Great Aunt Maud to spot a rather salacious word or two as they settle. With all our copies sourced second hand from charity shops or just given to us where people had heard of us through word of mouth, for a good 18 months we were inundated with those books, before expanding into other titles with everything from fairy tales to golf manuals. Sheet music was another very popular design, with this being very easy to get hold of and always looked beautiful with its aged paper.
When the time came to start a family, the business had been quietly ticking by in the background and in the summer of 2014 I quit my full time job as a logistics coordinator and made a go of the business full time. At the same time I discovered I was pregnant, and in a huge leap of faith I stuck to my plans and finished at the shipping company to work full time in the wedding business. This was by far the scariest but also the best decision I have ever made. With the time and clarity that came with that resignation, I was able to source a UK manufacturer for our Seed Paper, and found the oldest mechanised papermill in the world right here in the South of England.
The seed paper confetti was a huge hit. Handmade from recycled paper pulp, with wildflower seeds actually in the fibres of the paper, we soon found this product so popular we were sourcing at wholesale levels, all whilst hand punching every single piece individually. It certainly gives our arms a workout, though we haven’t yet considered any arm wrestling tournaments.
In 2018 we were offered the chance to stock Forget-me-not seed paper in addition to the wildflower, which has become very well known in the Funeral trade, with the idea of planting new life whilst remembering those that have passed being a timely reminder of how much we miss our loved ones. We now supply numerous charities and NHS Trusts with these seed paper shapes so they can include these small tokens in memorial boxes.
Throughout the pandemic with the restrictions in place for gatherings, many people came to us for seed paper memorial pieces, and I can now imagine there is a new crop of flowering blooms that appear in the memory of those no longer with us.
Now with the pandemic a long way behind us (hopefully), I look to the future to where we can develop confetti supply and what we can offer. At the tail end of 2022 I was lucky enough to be contacted by a local family whose music teacher Aunt had passed away after over 70 years of teaching piano to local families, and with that had amassed a huge collection of sheet music. They were going to simply send the whole lot to the recycling centre before someone put them in touch with me, and three full car loads later my workshop is now full floor to ceiling with music books dating back to the 1930s. With this we are looking to ramp up production of sheet music confetti, with new cutting tools arriving this week.
Well that’s it for another week, the new year settles into place with lots of exciting new things in the works for 2023.
Enjoy your weekends!

Favourite season: i have fall and spring allergies and summer is utterly disgusting, so winter it is.
Do you carry a bag/purse? what kind? my main bag is a huge kate spade satchel i found for over 50% off on ebay (brand new 🙏), but i have a few others that i switch between based on the occasion.
What color is your waterbottle? like iridescent purple? i don't even know how to describe it.
What color is your phone case? well, it's SUPPOSED to be clear...
Do you sleep in silence or do you need white noise/sounds/music? silence. not a necessity but just a preference.
Top sheets. Yes or no? doesn't feel right without one.
You're in the candy aisle at the corner store, what are you grabbing? haribo gummy bears and albanese sour gummy bears if they're in stock.
Preferred mode of travel (plane, train, car, bus, on foot): i hate commuting so i'll say plane.
What's your phone background right now? a random picture of txt from a:sm tour. they're standing with confetti falling and it just looks cool.
Are you more of a minimalist or a maximalist? a minimalist with maximilist tendencies.
It's time to paint your bedroom! What color are you choosing? ugh my walls are currently an awful, disgusting beige and i just wish they were white. a very light and cool-toned grey would be alright too.
And finally, tell me something that brings you joy: my niece!! she's 14 months old and just the light of my life. i used to rarely visit my family but i go to see my sister almost every weekend to hang out with her.

Holy shit that internet archive post just made me have a revelation.
When you buy a physical book you can lend it to whoever you want. Physically. You can read it aloud to 50 people or ship it to your friend in another country. You can do that with DVDs too. Have a sleepover, a watch party, send it abroad. As long as it’s not on a large enough scale for the companies to find out. Showing Hamilton on a sheet as a block party with ~ 20 people who knew vs showing it at the local movie theater.
But when it comes to digital versions, do you even own your book? Your movie? If they can revoke access, or sue for sharing or uploading… What makes an email with a zip file different than me lending a book? I guess the fact that there is now another copy out there that wasn’t paid for.
But if digital lending works like rental instead of a copy…
So the lawsuit started with the National Emergency Library, which from what I understand removed the limit to the number of people that could borrow any one book at once to help combat the loss of resources for thousands of students. Four publishing houses took issue with this and opened a lawsuit, maintaining it even after the NEL was closed just a few months later in June of 2020. They want every single book taken down, and a chunk of change each. They don’t like that IA is scanning physical books then putting the whole thing on a public website, while simultaneously in the document saying they have no problem with libraries who follow similar procedures. And the licensing of ebooks essentially makes them function like Netflix. Spotify. Microsoft office. Heated seats. On a pay as you want it basis instead of owning what you buy. Someone from IA made the point that if the lawsuit succeeds it undermines the ability of libraries everywhere to preserve their collections.
(The above paragraph is a summary of a 2020 Nation article with my own thoughts interspersed here and there)
Angery bite bite rage
Not that I really bought ebooks at all recently except as textbook rentals, but I’m going to be avoiding “buying” digital copies of anything from now on. Heads up y’all, CDs are sometimes cheaper than mp3 albums. There are second hand book shops on ebay that do sales often. I live in a small town rn without a bookstore, and I cannot tell you how many books I’ve gotten for less than $5 a piece. If anybody has alternative let me know but Amazon often sells box sets of movies on the cheap. I got all three Kung fu panda movies for maybe $15 bucks, they have the httyd series for 12.
It’s slow going on the movie and music front for me, the amount I want to buy vastly outprices my monthly netflix, hulu, and spotify payments. But I’m more determined than ever to chip away at it.
Libraries should be more heavily protected and supported and internet archive is a library. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

What Cats products do you have?
i've gotten a few things from when I've seen the tours!
the black sparkly cat ear headband (i got that the first time i saw the show in 2020, and wore it when i went to the other shows!)
regular programs (bc i LOVE collecting them)
the cats sheet music book
the cats photo program (which i posted pictures of)
a cats magnet (i try to get a magnet from all the shows i see since they're usually the least expensive items!)
a cats keychain (which BROKE and i'm SAD)
the cats pillow (which i love so much, it's so soft!)
the cats hoodie (so when i know i'm going to a show i like, i try to save up as much as possible beforehand so i can get some things, so this hoodie was a lot for me)
and then my mom got me the OBC photo program, the U.S. Tour 2 photo program, and a sweatshirt from one of the earlier Cats tours off of ebay for Christmas!
and then "unofficial" cats products:
a Misto sweatshirt and Tugger t-shirt that have @storyweaverofgondor's character designs on them! I wore the Tugger shirt when I saw the show back in September! gotta support my bestie <3
and then i've got a matching shirt with @queen-with-the-quill that we both bought off of etsy that has the phases of the moon + the Jellicle moon!
and idk if you'd count the actual T.S. Elliot poetry book as a Cats product, but i do have "Old Possum's Book"!

Finally pulled my violin out again after [redacted] without playing it.
My baby:
Tumblr media
Took me 10+ minutes to tune it, god help me. But it is in tune now. And I finally bought a violin specific tuner instead of using the guitar tuner I think I stole from my dad at some point.
My brain saw violin music and immediately wept with joy. Treble clef only as god intended. T_T
I look at violin sheet music and it clicks immediately. I look at piano music and my brain starts buffering and crashing.
Playing it again feels like getting back on a bike. It’s so nice. And it’s reassuring me to know I haven’t forgotten everything I ever knew about music, regardless of how I feel when I go to my piano lessons. Hey OCD, it hasn’t been long enough! Can’t miss ya if ya don’t leave!
Lol. My grandparents got me this violin for like $100 off of eBay in either middle or high school when my parents couldn’t afford to rent one for me anymore.
It’s a bit rough and ready, but it got me through at least eight years of regular playing.
One time my high school orchestra teacher asked me where I’d gotten it from and I just had to tell him eBay lol. Don’t think that was the answer he was expecting.
Folks, this was the pre-Amazon days. Or at least the pre “you can buy anything off Amazon” days. Looking at my Amazon account, it looks like I didn’t make my first purchase there until 2008 and that was almost a year into me being in college. It was all downhill from there.
Even though I could afford a nicer one now, this one means so much to me because my grandparents were both so invested in my musical education. They went out of their way to make sure I could keep playing and that I had my own instrument.
Also just goes to show you that even a “cheap” instrument can help you go far. I got a music minor with mine after all.
Both of my grandparents have passed away since then (my grandma in 2007, my grandpa almost two years ago now). It’s just such a wonderful reminder of how much they loved me.
I went ahead and bought some violin solo sheet music from Broadway, pop culture, and movies to encourage myself to play more. I have a stack of sheet music from my 12 years as a student, but pretty much all of it is meant for an entire orchestra.
My therapist asked me the other day why I wanted to learn to play the piano in the first place and I realized part of why was because then I could be the whole orchestra. So I figured, why not buy some sheet music that was tailored specifically to solo violin. Maybe I’d play it more. Guess we’ll see.
