Ternyata aku sudah kenal Alexandria selama sembilan tahun. Dia tidak pernah berubah, wow. Dari tahun kedua di SMA—tahun kepindahanku ke kota ini—sampai wisuda. Mungkin berat badannya hanya bertambah dua ons dan tingginya segitu-gitu juga. Jaket almamater SMA kami masih muat dengan sempurna di tubuhnya, dan dia masih mengenakannya sekampus-kampus. Setiap kuingat itu, ya ampun. Padahal di kampus kami sudah punya jaket almamater baru. Semua orang jadi tahu aku dan Al satu SMA. Teman-temanku yang laki-laki mulai bertanya asal-usul anak itu, alamat rumahnya, nomor teleponnya, makanan kesukaannya (ketika semua makanan adalah kesukaan Al), akun Instagram dan nomor KTP bila mungkin, dan terutama apa dia sudah punya pacar.

Alexandria selalu berambut panjang, katanya itu keturunan (seolah-olah saat lahir rambutnya langsung panjang). Dia memang begitu, sabar ya. Dia punya lelucon-lelucon teraneh yang kadang-kadang aku tak mengerti. Beberapa kali aku terlonjak kaget saat ada yang tiba-tiba terbahak-bahak karena cerita lucu Al. Padahal kurasa itu karena Al tertawa oleh leluconnya sendiri. Tawanya menular. Orang-orang itu tidak mendapati yang semacam Al setiap hari. Al bisa tertawa sampai terbahak-bahak karena leluconnya sendiri bahkan sebelum ceritanya selesai. Bahkan sebelum sempat mengerti aku bisa tertawa karena melihat mereka tertawa. Positivitas yang luar biasa, salut. Sabar, ya. Suki teman kami menyukai Al karena ini. Positivitasnya yang menular itu. Bidi, pacarku selama separuh masa di universitas, juga begitu. Kalau kamu terbiasa berada di dekat Alexandria, kamu akan terbiasa juga.

Ah, ya. Rambut Al.

Kurasa satu hal yang akan selalu indah adalah rambut Alexandria. Aku harus bilang itu, dan kamu akan setuju. Bidi dan Suki senang sekali menyentuh-nyentuhnya. Aku sudah pernah melihat Alexandria baru bangun tidur kering-kerontang tanpa terbasuh air saat kami di atas gunungdan aku pernah menyaksikan Al berdarah-darah di hari terburuk menstruasinya. Aku sudah pernah menyaksikannya nyaris di segala kondisi, kecuali demo. Bukan demo masak yang kumaksud. Demo aksi mahasiswa, yang Alexa selalu menolak untuk ikut berpartisipasi tanpa alasan yang kuyakini betul. Poinku, perempuan tidak bisa selalu terlihat cantik, itu tak mungkin. Kecuali mereka menikah dengan pangeran Wales. Namun bahkan di hari-hari terburuk Al—saat liurnya menetes di sudut mulut ketika tidur mendengkur pun—rambutnya tetap selalu indah dan pemandangan itu selalu menghibur. Aku tak akan menyangkal.

Saat Erik mulai berpacaran dengan Alexandria, orang pertama yang tahu adalah aku. Tentu saja.

Waktu itu Erik melesat ke dalam garasi rumah kami di atas skuter Vespa merah (milikku) dan naik ke kamarku dengan masih mengenakan helm. Dalam jaket dan helm dan sepatu botnya yang malas ia lepas, ia mendorong pintu hingga menjeblak terbuka dengan mengagetkan. Aku butuh beberapa detik untuk mengenalinya, kukira dia Densus 88. Atau Robocop. Baru setelah kuingat aku tak menyimpan ganja di kamar atau sedang merakit bom dan ia duduk meraih console PS di depan televisi, kusadari itu Erik yang sedikit sinting.

Ia membisu hingga satu permainan habis dan dia kalah (helm masih di kepala), sebelum berkata dengan nada tenang, “Gua jadian ama Alexandria.”

What the fuck.

Di antara semua mahasiswa di kampus: anak ini. Cinta pertama Alexandria: Erik. Apa Alexa ini baik-baik saja?

Kukira dia mempertahankan kejomloannya selama ini dalam rangka mempersiapkan diri untuk seseorang semacam... Keanu Reeves. Alexandria dulu pernah bilang, kalau dia punya pacar, dia mau laki-laki seperti Aditya Sigma (karena Keanu Reeves sudah jadi pacar semua orang di internet). Bukan Aditya Sigma sendiri, melainkan yang seperti dia. Aku tak tahu kenapa, tapi saat itu kukira hanya karena Aditya Sigma sudah punya pacar. Aditya Sigma adalah senior kami, sang milenial modern, di tahun ketika tinggal satu angkatan milenial yang tersisa di kampus sebelum tersapu oleh kami para Generasi Z. Saat itu rasanya dia keren sekali. Rasanya milenial terlihat keren sekali (presiden bahkan punya tim yang disebut “Staf Khusus Milenial” kendati tak ada yang mengerti apa sebenarnya fungsi mereka). Aditya selalu terlihat santai dengan sejumlah wingmen tim sepakbola (sepuluh orang yang setiap hari saling menggantikan posisi seperti bola bilyar), berjalan melewati para mahasiswa seantero kampus dengan segenap ide cemerlang di kepalanya. Adit selalu punya sesuatu untuk disampaikan, dan selalu menyampaikannya dengan cara yang jelas dan sederhana. Ciri-ciri orang pintar—tanpa perlu menyebutkan dia juga menyenangkan. Dan atletis. Adit dan Erik hampir seperti langit dan bumi.

Namun, malam itu, negara api bisa menyerang dan dunia bisa jungkir balik di depan Erik dan dia tidak akan peduli. Ketenangannya luar biasa. Ia melepas helm itu dan memandangku dengan senyum selebar trotoar jalan M.H. Thamrin.

“Lo nembak Alexa?”

“Gak. Ntar mati, dong.”

Itu lelucon garing dari zaman Firaun masih SD masih laku ya hari ini? Hih. Bikin emosi.

“Kok bisa bilang jadian?”

Dia masih cengengesan, malah semakin lebar. Aku tahu aku seharusnya hanya bilang, gue senang buat lo, bro. Tapi ini seperti mendengar Freddy Mercuri hidup lagi dan makan di warteg pecel Kang Donny di belakang kampus.

“Dia ngirim gue puisi. Gue udah manggil dia sayang.”

Jangan tertawa.

“Terus dia manggil lo apaan?”

“Hei.”

Huahahahahaha.

Tetap tenang.

“Gue senang buat lo, bro.”

Dua minggu setelah itu, kampus seperti menjadi milik Al dan Erik. Mereka bahkan punya ship name: Erixandria. What a cringe. Tapi Erik jadi lebih ganteng. Lebih bersih dan wangi dan bercukur dan kadang-kadang bersisir dan bajunya disetrika sampai licin. Satu-satunya saat aku melihat Erik setampan itu hanya saat ia bekerja sebagai bartender untuk acara gala di sebuah hotel, dan itu karena grooming wajib dari hotel tersebut. Sekampus tiba-tiba jadi sadar dia ganteng (dan memang biasanya di saat seperti inilah orang ketiga muncul karena orang selalu sadar kamu menarik setelah kamu punya pacar, dan bukan waktu kamu masih jomlo). Kurasa itulah masa paling indah dalam hidup Erik di kampus.

Itu lima tahun yang lalu, sebelum negara api menyerang.

Lima tahun berselang dan aku tak pernah tahu persisnya kapan mereka putus. Hal itu menjadi misteri bagi begitu banyak orang hingga begitu lama. Namun Erik kembali seperti semula. Tidak tercukur, tidak bersisir, kadang-kadang tidak mandi, dan naik ke kamarku lewat garasi sambil masih mengenakan helm.

Seperti malam ini.

Malam ini, aku sudah siap untuk menghabiskan set demi set permainan di layar PS hingga pagi atau salah satu di antara kami tertidur ketika sebuah kotak percakapan muncul di layar ponselku. Dari Irvin.

“Njul, lo punya temen yang namanya Alexandria?”

Ini kali pertama nama Al disebut dalam setahun. Aku tak pernah bertemu Alexandria lagi sejak wisuda, tak pernah mendengar tentangnya lagi sebab tak ada alasan. Aku tak tahu bagaimana Irvin bisa kenal Al. Aku berusaha keras mengingat apa mereka pernah bertemu, sementara Erik beringsut mundur sedikit dari layar PS.

Aku membungkuk, memastikan ia tidak ikut memperhatikan layar dan kolom percakapan, lalu mengetik.

“Kenapa emang?”

Tak ada balasan setelah itu, meski kutunggu-tunggu. Set baru permainan sudah dimulai. Mataku terus-menerus melirik ke ponsel. Ketika layar menyala dan kotak itu muncul lagi, itu bukan Irvin.

Melainkan Alexandria.

“Njul, punya temen berapa orang sih yang namanya Irvin?”

Hei, kamu pernah dengar tentang six degrees of separation?

Bukan lagunya The Script, melainkan teori psikologi yang muncul sekitar tahun 1920 yang menyebutkan bahwa semua orang di dunia ini sebenarnya saling terhubung dengan satu sama lain dengan jarak maksimal enam orang di antara mereka. Bila kamu bisa menelusuri keenam orang itu, kamu tak pernah perlu mengenal orang dari awal. Bila salah satu di antara keenam orang itu terhitung dekat dengan kalian berdua, maka secara praktis kalian sudah saling kenal. Birds of a feather flock together. Jodoh tak pernah terlalu sulit bila kamu paham betul teori ini (dan beberapa hal lain).

Namun, kukira, tidak seperti ini juga. Aku tak pernah berharap bahwa satu dari enam orang yang menghubungkan Alexandria dengan orang-orang baru dalam hidupnya adalah aku. Erik sudah cukup. Tak perlu terjadi berkali-kali.

Aku berupaya memisahkan pikiran dan percakapan ini dari Erik sepanjang malam itu. Tak ada satu pun di antara teman-teman kami yang tahu Erik ada di mana saat ini. Ia tak pernah mengungkapkannya, tapi aku yakin Erik sendiri tak ingin diketahui.

Tulisku kepada Alexandria, “Banyak, Al. Lebih dari tiga. Kenapa emang?”

Tak ada balasan dari kedua-duanya sejak malam itu hingga akhir zaman.
