This is the Buddy for December 14th. He's a real swashbuckler, you see. A little bit like Joaquin Murrieta. Or, you know, Don Diego de la Vega.

Although I guess he couldn't fit that big poofly hair under a half-mask. I was never too sure whether Zorro wore a half-mask or just a Robin-like domino mask. And that's probably because his costume changes in different stories. Which makes total sense, really - why would he wear the same stuff all the time? I mean, I guess it's useful for him if other people know he's the one that's doing something (although that comes with its own set of issues), but it's also useful to keep his costume practical. If he's in a bind, he can just cover his face with a piece of black cloth with holes for eyes. And if he's riding out of his villa, he can put on the whole get-up beforehand.

I think a problem with superheroes, especially the ones from the bronze age, is that they're always shown in costume, when more naturalistic storytelling would have them wear whatever's available. I understand that the reason for that is the costume sells (and makes it easier to identify the character), but it also limits the story to a level where the character is the costume, as opposed to the more practical and justified costumes of earlier eras.

On the other hand, we have superhero movies nowadays, where characters wear their costumes as little as possible, because the filmmakers are ashamed of making superhero movies. Even when it makes sense to hear, say, a helmet during a space battle, we need to see those handsome Hollywood faces.

But I guess that's an issue I'd explore if I was making my own superhero story.

Danny and Damian are twins but they never get split up. Their life growing up in the league of assassins was rough and unforgiving. Damian was older by a few minutes but Danny was always seen as the lesser twin in Ras eyes. Danny is seen more as a tool to improve the heir instead of his twin. Talia eventually has enough of one of her babies being seen as inferior and she takes both of them to their dad, Bruce Wayne when they turn 10. They become the Robin twins and train under Batman.

4 years go by and Jason is visiting the manor talking about how his new neighbor Jasmine Fenton (He totally has had parents that had a lab and sounded like they were very close to becoming rouges especially since they’re apparently building a portal to another dimension. They decided to raid the house and investigate the lab. Red Robin and Batman were investigating the computer and files. And both Danny and Damian were investigating the giant hole in the wall. Damian is looking at the circuit board panel on the wall and Danny investigated the giant hole in the wall. Oh no he tripped.

Decided to bring my Punk Danny AU back since all the Spider Punk stuff I’ve been seeing lately has got me ~inspired~

Just Punk Danny doing his thing, hanging out, maybe jamming with some folk in a random punk house, when, like it usually does in Gotham, shit happens.

Some thugs show up trying to intimidate and threaten the punks that live there. They’re trying to scare ‘em off, make ‘em sell as part of some scheme to demolish the whole block and put up shitty expensive housing. 

Now, there’s two things Danny knows: Landlords are bastards, and you got to protect your community

Now he could deal with some thugs in and out of Phantom form, but he just got off the GIW radar and beating hired thugs from a crime family brings the wrong kind of attention to his personal life

His solution?

He puts on a cheap Batman Halloween mask someone had lying around and proceeds to beat the hell out of their kneecaps with a bat decked out in denim covered in spikes and patches

As it turns out, it’s not just a one time thing...
