really hyped for the new collab. they've revealed fuze and i assume he's going to be the free event operator, which is fine by me since i am a simpleton.

i think they're going to most likely add three new characters, rerun the previous banner and event, add one new event operator (fuze?) and two new gacha operators, one 6-star and one 5-star. unless they're going to go for the same split as the first collab, of two women and two men, one defender and attacker each.

assuming they'll only pick one attacker that's a man, i didn't predict anyone who falls to that category.

From the link, reading your interpretation of omegaverse was very interesting and a breath of fresh air in general! You're a really good writer as always. It got to my attention that in your omega Kapkan story Doc is called a "fellow omega". I was curious about how you think being an omega would effect Doc in this AU and if you have any headcanons for the designations of other operators (not all of them of course, just the ones that come to your mind)

That story has the distinction of being quite well liked by people who usually don't like omegaverse, which:

a) same 😂 b) makes me so damn proud ngl

I made Doc an omega cause, even if it's only mentioned on the other story set in that AU, Lion is an alpha and I ship them. Yep. That being said, I wanted omegas who were more assertive and dominant, and alphas being more led by instinct meaning they're more prone to melodramatics (which fits Lion), with the Spetsnaz being a bit of an outlier since Glaz and Chanka are more level-headed in the sense they're not constantly posturing.

I think that being a doctor probably fits into the "nurturing omega" idea, but that's just stereotytping a. It's probably useful to appear as not very threatening and not be ruled by instinct (outside of heats) as much as your average alpha, so that probably helps when dealing with unruly patients. And just like in canon, Doc is equally willing to kick someone's ass into submission if needed, as well as fight like any of them.

As for who is what, the ones appearing in the two stories in the same AU:

Aside from those, I didn't give much thought to who was what, although I won't deny I might have mused some more about this AU sometimes. Bandit is an alpha, for Jäger I'm inclined to say beta, Thermite I'm undecided too. Thatcher is an alpha, his and Lion's fight (aka, the slap incident) was seen as another alpha melodramatic posturing thing. Following the same rule, Ash is an alpha (cause she punched Kali in Siege, even if NH don't exist in this AU, I thought it fit her). Mira is an very bossy omega although everyone thinks she's an alpha who is up to her eyebrows in suppressants.

Thatcher - Capitão ( Mute was formerly Thatcher's bunkmate, but Caveira threatened to castrate Capitão and now this is the arrangement. )

Sledge - Alibi ( Smoke begged to bunk with Maestro after their first boxing match. Alibi agreed, but only if she got bottom bunk )

Doc - Montagne ( it was immediately agreed upon, but they usually share one bunk anyway... )

Twitch - Rook ( the played rock paper scissors for who got which bunk )

Jäger - Bandit ( one of those "They're usually on the same bunk anyway" situations, but Jäger prefers to be high up )

IQ - Blitz ( there was a brawling match over top bunk. Blitz learned that IQ is weirdly good at pinning a man down when she wants something. )

If Olivier’s life could get any worse, first he gets punched in the face by Thatcher. Now he has to wait in the sick-bay waiting for a medic to give him the all clear. Olivier, really wasn’t looking forward to having Kateb give him a lecture on how his words to their British counterpart were brash and arrogant. 

“You know what Flament, if you wanted my attention all you had to do was ask.” The Norwegian accent pierced the almost silent room.

“Haugland, I am not in the mood to deal with your theatrics, so how about you get Kateb and get me out of this fucking sick-bay.” Olivier demanded. 

“Fine. Have it your way. Oh and by the way the Doc ain’t examining your injuries, I am.” Håvard grinned as he spoke. 

As Håvard rolled his chair over the laminated floor, to become face-to-face with Olivier. 

“Olivier, can you tell what month it is?”

“Really?” Olivier began questioning the Norwegian’s practices. Håvard just stared back at him, egging him to respond to his question. 

“The month is September, are you happy now?” 

“Yes and can you tell me what the date is today?” Håvard once again asking with a softer expression

“It is the 21st” 

“What year is it?” 

“2020”

“Look straight ahead and keep your head still, please.” Then a light flashed into Oliver’s eyes. “Merde, you didn’t need to flash me you know.” However, Håvard didn’t reply and just kept inspecting Olivier’s face. 

As Håvard was inspecting the injuries on Olivier's face, Olivier noticed the change of expression from one of fun to one of concentration in a matter of seconds. This got Olivier thinking, how does Håvard just change with a flip of a switch. Like yes, every operator has a professional side to them, yet there is something different in Håvard, he just couldn’t put his finger on it.  Olivier’s thought process was interrupted with Håvard breaking the silence once again. 

“Well, good news, you don’t have a concussion. The cuts aren’t that bad either, well not bad enough to warrant the use of regular stitches, so I am gonna clean the wounds, put a steri-strip on and then you are free to go. Okay.” 

“Whatever you say Haugland, the quicker the better.” Olivier quipped back with impatience. Håvard rolled his eyes, as he moved to retrieve equipment needed for the quick procedure.

“If you don’t mind me asking, what made Thatcher, you know, hit you in the face?” Håvard asked while motioning the punch. Olivier gave Håvard a questioning look, but decided it would be better to answer the Norwegian, than to leave it in the air. 

“All you need to know is that I said something and the old man didn’t like it and the rest lead to me being stuck here with you.” As Olivier was talking about the incident, Håvard began cleaning and patching up the wound. 

Olivier once again began studying Håvard’s face, as the plaster was being placed on the cut. Olivier started to notice, little things, like pale freckles littered across his face. Or how when he concentrates, Håvard tilts his head to an angle. Once again Olivier was ripped out of his thoughts with the sharp movement of Håvard snapping his head back into position. 

“No wonder why Gustave didn't want to assess your injuries, you can’t seem to stop moving your head.” Håvard stated as he rolled away from Olivier’s proximity to the desk. The clipping of keys filled the crisp sterile air. 

“Anyways, Flament. You are all patched up now and cleared for duty. So you are free to leave, unless you have any other questions for me?” Håvard questioned. 

“My Hero”, Olivier stated sarcastically, further adding on “who knows i might even give you a five stars on your yelp page.” As Olivier moved towards the door as he was chuckling to himself, Håvard once again interrupted. 

“Yelp page? I don’t have yelp? Should I make a yelp?, Flament, what is yelp?” Håvard going into overdrive into branching out onto a new media page. 

“Relax, Haugland, it is just a joke. Please take my advice, DON’T MAKE A YELP PAGE.” 

“Okay I will take your advice, if you take some advice from me.” Olivier nodded in agreement. 

“Just be careful with our teammates, especially those who can knock you out. I rather not carry your ass back to base.” The worried look hidden behind the joyful gleam in Håvard’s eyes said it all. 

“Who knows, Hero, I might take you up on that advice.” 

And with that Olivier left the medical sector of Rainbow, with a smile and small plaster on his face.

Wish we had more lore on the relationships between ops. I mean we have IQ, Valkyrie and Finka all being workout buddies while finka herself is friends with doc, tachanka and blitz. Cav and echo are friends apparently. Frost and nomad are friends while nomad, Twitch and aruni travel together so they might be friends.

On one hand, I wish there was more lore, indeed! On the other hand, as time passed and I saw how the writers handed Siege lore... I think I want them as far away from my favs as possible, and I'll make the lore myself, thanks 😂

I think neither Ela nor Zofia probably had many friends in Rainbow, partially because their strained relationship and quarrels bled into everything and it's very uncomfortable for a third party to get dragged into it (neither sister has any chill, I be anyone around them has seen them fight multiple times). However, Zofia strikes me as more repressed and self-isolated than her sister, thanks to Jan Bosak's A+ parenting (sarcasm very much intended). Ela might have been on friendly terms with other artists (Glaz, obviously, maybe Nomad since she draws maps on her journal), maybe to other rebellious figures (I think she could have gotten along with Clash, Cav and Lion, imo). But ultimately she seems too selfish/self-centered -it's all about her family situation and how she feels suffocated by it- so she was easily swayed into leaving for NH.

Oryx's only known relationship is with Kaid, and it's a clear master/mentor at best, boss/grateful employee at worst. I've always wondered how the three Fortress operators fit together, and what Oryx and Nomad's relationship is. Do they get along like mere acquaintances, or as two exasperated siblings? Or maybe they just don't particularly care or like each other? Is there a rivalry between them for Kaid's approval, does he favor one more?

About Ash, Harry's board from The Hammer and The Scalpel gave us a lot of info, and most of the threads coming from her are green! We know she has some sort of cat & mouse game going on with Caveira, she greatly respects Thatcher, Tachanka and Doc despite having different approaches to leadership than they do, and she excahnges technical knowledge and expertise with Fuze! We also know from more recent lore that she gets along with Mira much better than she used to (their old rivalry seems gone).

And another short ramble because it's 2 am anx I cannot seem to sleep

This time about Mute and Lion and the tl:dr is that they're pretty good friends, actually

No but Mute genuinely and truly likes Lion and it comes down to one very key aspect; neither of them really had a chance

Lion was a smart kid, but never enough; if he got full marks, his parents asked why he hadn't picked up an extracurricular. If he performed exactly to expectation his parents asked why he didn't excel beyond that, as if excellence was the bar.

Mute's parents did the same thing for different reasons. Mute never had the chance to be a rebellious teenager; it comes out in his tattoos, in his music choices, in the sarcastic and jaded behavior he shows.

So when Mute off handedly griped about wishing he could've gotten drunk or high at a party when he was in college - like so many others did - Lion offers to give him a safe space to do so. It's on impulse and Montagne gives him the most bewildered look, but Lion explains it quickly; anyone else who has experience with severe intoxication only did so while either undercover or in the job. Everyone else had decently stable and safe childhoods. He may not like it, but if Mute needs a safe space to actually process a lot of what he missed, Lion's the best option because he's been in that mindset before.

More importantly, he knows how to curb that mindset. He knows how to recognize the language of a bad trip, and he himself knows how to regulate now that he's older and a little less stupid. As much as Doc, Monty, and Thatcher didn't like it, Harry agreed that Lion was the best possible option if Mute really wanted to have those experiences. Of course, the question of former addiction came up, but Lion stood firm; he knows his limits better than anyone else.

Which is how they ended up on the balcony of Hereford, with Lion kind of sober and Mute trying to figure out how people drink alcohol when it tastes fucking gross. Talking about childhoods and how they ended up where they are, how fucked it is that they ended up the way they did.

It's how they end up on that balcony again, this time both a little high and Mute wondering why people like feeling this way while Lion tries and fails to explain that there's more than one type of marijuana because he ends up laughing every time he says "twoijuana" on accident. It's how they end up talking about religion and Lion admitting that he sometimes wonders how many of those who follow the faith only do so out of fear of punishment, but also that hes rather fond of the idea that every star in the sky was hung there by someone that might be just as fucked up as he is. It's how Lion learns that Mute is Hindi, but not in the way that one might think; he believes there is, mathematically, one or more entities that we would consider deities, but that they likely can't even perceive us. It's how they agree that no matter what the truth is, the world is pretty cool if you learn to ignore the people in it.

It's how they end up there again, sober and chatting while Mute drinks tea and Lion downs a water bottle. Talking about family and how neither of them quite feel at home with their blood family but finally feel like they have something worth a damn in Rainbow, regardless of how dysfunctional it is. Discussing addiction and affection and the quiet worry that somewhere along the line the team is going to be pulled apart by powers far greater than them.

It's how they end up going to the balcony every Sunday after Lion's prayers, even long after Mute has worked out his impulses, to chat and catch up as friends. Talking about research opportunities and discussing each other's fields of study, acting as soundboards for each other. They end up encouraging each other to pursue the relationships they want.

There's a sort of healing on the balcony every Sunday. For Lion, it's seeing that he could actually change the course of someone else's impulsive self destruction and gain a friend in the process. For Mute, it's seeing that someone else really does get it, and gaining a friend somewhere in the middle of it.

General:

How long will they last? - until mike fucking dies. so like a week. jk but he’s so old

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - it was that scene in the office where it’s three guys standing in a triangle pointing finger guns at each other aggressively. 

How was their first kiss? - doc, exhausted, was sitting in his office, sleeping peacefully. when olivier realized gustave had never come to bed, he goes to his office to check on him, and finds mike standing over him, trying to figure out how to move him without waking him up. the way mike jumps when olivier clears his throat wakes gustave up, and he starts whining about being fine and not needing to be babysat. though he interrupts himself multiple times with yawns, so mike and olivier make an executive decision to bring him to bed so they can make sure he gets sleep. mike moves to pick him up and carry him bridal style, but gustave starts squirming and weakly trying to push mike away, though he succeeds in doing nothing. seeing this, olivier moves closer, places a hand in his hair and starts petting him gently. gustave makes an “ngh” sound as his eyes flutter shut, and he makes a last-ditch attempt to get them to leave him alone by reaching a hand out blindly and tugging olivier closer, and shoving his tongue down olivier’s throat. olivier keeps petting him, and kisses back slowly, pushing gustave’s tongue out of his mouth, turning the kiss chaste and sweet, before gustave falls asleep. once he’s certain gustave is out cold, olivier pulls away and takes his hand out of gus’ hair, causing him to snuffle in his sleep and shift in mike’s arms so he’s pressed closer. mike and olivier share a Look, then walk together to gustave’s quarters. They lay him on the bed, and mike says that olivier should stay with him. this makes gustave wake up, and he starts making whiny noises at mike from the bed, prompting mike to come over, and gustave pulls the same move he used on olivier, but this time with the intent to have mike stay. he tugs mike down next to him on the bed (which is honestly more of a nest), with olivier on his other side. he maneuvers them both so that they’re spooning him while he snuggles up to his full-size snorlax plush. mike pushes himself up so he can look at olivier over gustave, and says “we will all three discuss this tomorrow. i know the both of us have been pining over him for quite some time, and tonight’s events have made it pretty clear that the adorable, endearing, kind man laying between us feels the same. so, i think it’s safe to assume this sleeping configuration could become significantly more common for all three of us. now, go to sleep. i refuse to deal with two grumpy, sleep-deprived frenchmen.” olivier chuckled, and as he settled in and closed his eyes, he felt around for something on the blankets, then, smiling softly, intertwines his fingers with mike’s, and drifts off to sleep. 

Wedding:

Who proposed? - they all did, on the same night, at the exact same fucking time

Who is the best man/men? - monty for lion, rook for doc, and sledge for thatcher

Who is the bride’s maid(s)? - finka for lion, twitch for doc, and, in a surprise twist no one saw coming, clash for thatcher (the ladies wear tuxes. they look very dapper) 

Who did the most planning? - mike! he’s not very religious himself, but knows that gustave and olivier are, so he did a lot of research (including visiting olivier’s church and gustave’s mosque to ask questions about customs and traditions and requirements) to make sure that the wedding would be fit for both of their faiths

Who stressed the most? - god they were all useless for six weeks before the ceremony

How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.

Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - olivier’s parents, obviously, but his ex and her punk gf are invited and sit in the front row. mike’s ex-wife gets an invitation but it’s very much in a way of “look what you’re missing out on. not one but TWO sexy french men love him. can you say the same? hm?”
