Whilst I do understand and agree to an extent with the sentiment that wanting more thg books/movies about specifically the games is capitol-like behaviour, I also think the way a lot of people have been saying this is very reductionist, especially since we're talking about fiction here.
The people in the ‘you’re missing the point of the books' camp are correct in noting the political messaging and subtext within the novels about the exploitation of violence (and the irony of making an mcu-type franchise of all the hunger games just for the purpose of having them), but I would argue that they themselves have almost entirely missed the point of fictional stories as whole. Yes, part of the success of THG, both commercially and as a piece of storytelling, is her underlying allegory but the other part, which we really cannot forget, is that it is just an otherwise compelling piece of fiction that has placed the Child Killing Show at its epicentre.
TBOSAS has really showed us Collins has clearly thought out the lore of Panem (I personally wouldn’t be surprised if she has already written/planned a bunch of other stories but just hasn’t decided to do anything with them as she doesn’t have something to Say with them yet) and we only ever see the tip of the very fascinating iceberg; I would argue that it is perfectly reasonable to be curious about things we don’t see but are alluded to within the text because of how different this world is to ours. It also makes complete sense as to why the curiosity tends to surround the titular games themselves as they are such an intriguingly unfamiliar concept and are integral to the plot of all four books, which then basically cements the ‘story about Panem = story about the hunger games’ connection.
Further, it is also important to discuss the characters and the emotionally compelling aspects of THG. To reiterate my earlier point, THG aren’t just a political allegory, they are also pieces of fiction, therefore, it should a series whose merits should be considered on both fronts. Her characters are complex and nuanced and are meant to be cared about, with rich character development from beginning to end of the series. I would argue that it’s part of the reason why a series with such an overtly disturbing premise has done so well commercially in both book sales and the box office. I mentioned previously about the games being integral to the plot and I would argue that it is the same for the characters. In many ways, the games act as a character study for how different people react in the same(ish) scenario and how it highlights key aspects of who they are as people as well as forces them to change for better or worse. Similarly, for all of the victors, the games are continually emphasised as defining moments that can tell a lot about said victor.
Putting these two concepts together, it is no surprise that the equation ‘this quarter quell concept is an interesting idea, I’d be interested to hear more about it + I am emotionally engaged with the characters and it’s interesting to see how they all respond to different things in their world + Haymitch is my favourite character and I would love to learn more about him + we learn a lot about characters and Panem during the games’ is going to equal ‘I want to read a book about Haymitch’s games’.
And yes, there is a lot to say about our society and how often we exploit violence afflicted onto others for our entertainment (true crime comes to mind) and how often fictional portrayals of that can desensitise us to real world horror (I also think of all those studies about the correlation of violence in pornography and subsequent violence towards women), but also I think this also comes back to the problematic viewpoint of ‘depiction = endorsement’ and considering what media you consume as equivalent to political advocacy, which is also equally harmful for media literacy as refusing to read for subtext, both of which are practices that discourage nuance and critical thinking
I am also not denying that there might be people with whom the emotional resonance and messaging of the books go straight over their heads, and they do really just seem to want to see kids battling to the deaths, which is something that I have seem to have come across now and then. However, I think to assume that everyone that expresses a desire to read more of Collins’s work and world is doing so out of such a desire rather than to connect with and learn about a world that clearly has significantly more to it than what we’ve been shown whilst also being aware of the core messaging of the series is a bad faith move and, dare I say, similarly problematic.
And again, because this is the piss-on-the-poor website, I want to emphasise that I believe that both sides to this ‘debate’ have legitimate reasoning, but because I do tend to stay on the political/literary analysis side of the fandom, I have, of course, more to say in that regard than for other sides of the fandom. I also want to stress that I am not just talking about the Tumblr fandom here, but also things that I have seen on other platforms and I'm just venting some frustrations that I have had.
All in all, always initially assume miscommunication over malice unless you actually have proof and if you’re going to pride yourself on ‘understanding the point’ of something, remember that you are still susceptible to creating false dichotomies and ditching empathy for moral superiority never makes anything better.
(also want to point out that this is not a conversation about a scenario in which Collins pulled a r*wling in terms of turning her ip into a capitalistic empire because that is a different conversation entirely and this is just about fans wanting hypotheticals out of love for a book series)

as someone who has been obsessed with the good place for three years and good omens for six months i really like the way that these particular medias depict heaven and hell.
they’re both broken systems but they’re broken in different ways. the good place’s heaven and hell are functioning generally like they’re supposed to, with the leaders of the good place being overall comically nice and the leaders of the bad place being comically mean. but their methods are so outdated that hell is overcrowded with humans who really didn’t do that many evil things- but being a good person has become so complicated that no one has gotten into heaven for over 500 years. this is a story about the complexity of life, about actions vs unintended consequences. and convincing the good and bad places respectively that something is wrong would be a forced catalyst to rebuild the entire system that has been in place since before the beginning of time. and no angel or demon wants to think about that. so they wait until the humans do it.
good omens is obviously more biblically compliant. their hell is also presumably overcrowded, since they mention that they’re extremely understaffed, but unlike the good place we don’t see any humans in heaven or hell, save a few nazis who talk to some demons. they don’t talk a lot about humans in the afterlife, but they focus on the questionable aspects of heaven and hell themselves. because when it comes down to it, heaven and hell are not that different. sure, one side is good and one side is evil by name, but they’re really just labels that don’t mean much. the only reason they seem to even exist at this point is to end the human race. there’s no order, their leaders keep running off, and everyone keeps trying to follow god’s plan because that’s always been the plan and plans cannot be changed- except, of course, aziraphale and crowley. but no one thinks about change except them, because then everyone would have to rethink the system that has been in place since before the beginning of time. it’s not about good or evil, really- it’s about choosing sides and following the plan. it always has been. and it’s not like they can just abandon their sides, either, because then they need replacements. cue the latte. (this is not an endorsement on coffee theory)
broken systems in the afterlife means chaos in both of these franchises. demons show grace and angels show the opposite, because what do those words even mean? good place michael is evil to humans despite his fascination with the human race, because he wants to, but then because he’s supposed to. aziraphale and crowley have spent so much time around humans that they’ve become more of humans than an angel and a demon. janet was built to be a permanent assistant for humans, and then became so advanced once spending time with team cockroach that she developed complex emotions that weren’t even technically possible for a being like her. even adam, the literal antichrist, was raised as a normal child, therefore giving him genuine love for those around him, and allowing him to reject his “inherent evil nature,” so to speak. all of these characters are SUPPOSED to be something.
these are medias about broken systems in the afterlife, because the lines between good and evil are so blurred. these are medias about being human.
and i don’t know about you guys, but i think that’s insanely cool.

if you'd like a distraction of some kind: what's an episode of star trek that you think is great, but is often overlooked by fans and why?
(This was from earlier this week and I really appreciate it!! <3)
I was just talking about this with a friend but Voyager's 'Jetrel' is sooo under discussed in almost every corner of Trek fandom - I'd say I don't know why, but I don't think the fans can be solely blamed here, because the show barely ever builds on what this episode sets up either! Which is a shame imo, because it's one of the most impactful Neelix episodes of the series- it really sheds a lot of light on why he is the way he is, how much of his jovial "just a silly little guy who's here to make you smile!" persona is born of severe trauma and pain- how the way he latches onto community building and overprotects Kes are quite literally trauma responses. It also raises very relevant questions about the complicity of scientists in genocide (which is so important in a franchise that usually espouses the healing potential of science). I'm sure some would disagree with the "I forgive you" scene (and quite honestly there is a pattern in Trek where characters are made to forgive their abusers and/or people who committed war crimes against theirs, I won't deny that) - but I'm honestly quite fascinated by it? I spend a lot of time thinking about forgiveness on one's own terms and the power of it, and I genuinely do believe different approaches work for different people (like I love that Kira never had a scene where she had to forgive Dukat for example, that would've been so demeaning for her character! She's someone who would live a long happy life if she never saw him again at any point during the show. But Neelix... he can't even handle one of his colleagues finding him vaguely annoying, I just get the feeling that he'd forever be haunted by this if he didn't get closure). Of course, I would never, ever, ever expect someone in his position to forgive Jetrel- but it doesn't surprise me that he'd want to, and I think that conversation is what allowed him to move on (I'm definitely someone who can't be at peace without forgiving, personally- I'm not sure how I feel about this mentality being uniformly perceived as weak! It's just different. Forgiveness =/= tolerance or acceptance of being treated badly or permitting/endorsing bad behaviour imo). Anyway I really wish the events of this episode had impacted Neelix's writing down the line more, and I would've loved more lore on Rinax- but as a standalone it's one that always stuck with me (I have a lot of thoughts on how Neelix and his "weird" ("alien") social habits, skillsets, perceived lack of boundaries- and yes, his tragic and expertly-hidden backstory- were very deliberately written in a way that invokes immigrants and people from the third world generally, and how his position both in Voyager's social circle and the reception of him among fans becomes very Interesting in this light- but that's a whole different conversation lol)

The amount of reaching you and your anons do is astonishing. Fans of an actress wants to see her in exiting projects. You all: it's an anti who doesn't want her to spend time with Tom! Where's the correlation? Question is: are YOU really a fan? And it's not fucking about stan wars. It's about wanting to see my fave on my screen
Tumblr media
Okay, FIRST of all.....
You need to bring it down a notch
Second of all....
It's "exciting" NOT "exiting" 😒🙄
And LASTLY....
She IS in "exciting" roles... Euphoria?? The Spider-Man franchise? The Dune Franchise? Challengers? M&M?? The upcoming Ronnie Spector biopic?? 🥴 See, I think the problem is, YOU don't think her roles are "exciting" enough (whatever that means 🙄). That's YOUR problem... Not ours. US fans on here already think that Zendaya is in "exciting" roles.
😏💅
We also recognize that sometimes people need a BREAK!
Plus, you have absolutely NO clue what Zendaya has up her sleeve this year....both career-wise OR personal life-wise. NONE whatsoever. Usually for her, I notice that role announcements seem to come out of nowhere out of the blue .... BAM!!! lol 😅 You really don't know what she's working on nabbing this year. Idk why you're so concerned and worried. We already see her onscreen PLENTY. If not on Euphoria, then in the multiple franchises she's in.... She'll be doing at least 2 press tours this year (that we know of), and she'll also be filming Euphoria for 8 months. If you want to blame why Zendaya isn't in other projects, maybe you need to look at her 8-month shoot of Euphoria almost every other year lol. 😏 That's a HUGE commitment imo.
I just can't believe you're up here complaining when Zendaya was practically the ONLY person who was still WORKING during a global shut-down lol. Like, the girl MADE work for herself while other actors were taking breaks and following govt. guidelines. Even the ones who were supposed to be shooting movies during the time covid happened took a BREAK. But nope...Z went and filmed M&M during a pandemic...a gutsy move!
She also has numerous endorsements and ambassadorships. Trust, she is around A LOT. She's on every billboard, makeup ad, perfume ad, even doing COMMERCIALS. Like, seriously??? 🥴
Tumblr media
Idk what more you want from her Anon. But most of us are enjoying Zendaya. 😊 Sounds like maybe YOU need to go find someone else to stan if her "filmography", her relationship, and her need to take breaks is bothering you so much. 🥴

I think in addition to the conversation about JKR’s transphobia it’s vital that we address the antisemitism in the Harry Potter universe.
Not enough people are talking about it. Yes her transphobia is having an effect on legislation and yes supporting Harry Potter in any way is endorsing that BUT I don’t think we’re going to get through to people with just that. Harry Potter is not as wholesome as many people would like to believe. It’s a racist and antisemitic garbage fire with some pretty poor writing. I should preface this by saying I am not Jewish, nor am I a poc, I am white and fairly well off, I am just very opinionated and want to do my best to explain the things I can when I see something wrong. Carrying on,
One of if not the most blatantly fucked up thing in the Harry Potter universe is the presence of “house elves”, a race of mythical creatures that function as slaves in the wizard world. What is most appalling about them is that rowling wrote them to be happily subservient, a race that enjoys being enslaved. For one, this is all kinds of weird, and for two, this does not mix very well with the complete lack of plot relevant POC.
The second big issue and the one I feel a particular need to address is the goblins. Beginning with how they are meant to represent and mock Jewish people. Goblins are a common caricature of Jewish people, and the goblins in Harry Potter have all the traits of that caricature, hooked noses, greed, power over government, malice, etc. also notable was their appearances in the movies, being depicted as practically identical to nazi propaganda portrayals and having the Star of David clear as day on the floor of the bank. Now all this alone should be enough to make you feel queasy, but if that isn’t enough for you let’s bring the latest addition to the franchise in. The “goblin rebellion” of hogwarts legacy depicts an oppressed race as the antagonists in their rebellion, and if the well established context of goblins as a caricature of Jewish people wasn’t terrible enough in conjunction with this plot, one of the goblins is also depicted as plotting to kidnap wizard children, yet another direct parallel to historical oppression of Jewish people, the accusations of stealing Christian children (in this case wizard children) and using their blood for rituals, also known as blood libel.
Supporting Harry Potter is not just bad because JKR is bad. There is no way around it, and you cannot disconnect the author from her work. Harry Potter itself is bad. It’s time to let go of this.

I guess we can ultimately chalk Houses up to a case of different cultures clashing irl. Much like Persona 5, people didn't understand how radical the game's good endings actually are and how they go against the mindset of the game's domestic market.
People take being charitable and helping those in need as a universal message, not understanding how giving people money when they aren't seen as having earned it is considered an act that encourages negative behaviour, and this mindset sees that the country is split on the idea of social safety nets. People take “guilty until proven innocent” as a given, unaware that the Japanese view even the act of being accused as a sign that the party is guilty that will haunt them even if they are innocent. So the game's blaming everything on Rhea at a surface level only for the later revelations that she's actually a good guy. Same with the people of Duscur being blamed for the tragedy. People in the west push for breaking of traditions, so Claude's ending feels like a “no duh” to them. Likewise, the Black Eagles bucking Edelgard's authority and not bending the knee to her like the Imperial nobility are, fighting back to remove her from power, seems pretty simple. Same thing with Dimitri believing change has to come from the people, not the leader, and seeks to empower them.
This, and more, come across as safe messages. Meanwhile Edelgard's actions and penchant for violence do come across as radical. That she's the one breaking tradition, especially within the greater context of the FE franchise. And because people didn't want to clear up their misconceptions after getting to know others as VW endorses, And with the altered text regarding her ending, it comes across as the game endorsing her methods rather than them leading to tyranny.
I think this is one of the issues with Fodlan. It's less about which route is the ideal outcome that fixes Fodlan's problems. Each route is more a lesson that the player is supposed to apply to real life. Helping others regardless of whether they have “earned it” or not, looking deeper into issues rather than surface level takes in part by getting to know others with ties to the idea of justice against those falsely accused, not following a leader out of tradition or social hierarchy and instead rising up... Or in Edelgard's case submitting to authority regardless of how moral or just they are, centralizing power on a leader at the expense of the people, how helping people out makes society weaker and how people should return to tradition. The fact the game demonizes Edelgard, her ideals and messages in the original text indicates the creators saw her mindset as toxic and damaging to Japan irl, but since people are looking at the game as which route is best for Fodlan (still not hers), it's easier to ignore this.

Rugrats: Babies in Toyland ❄️🎄🎁🧸🚂
Tumblr media
Warning, this will contain spoilers of the special so please read with care and enjoy.
Rugrats: Babies in Toyland, is my all time favourite Christmas Special in the entire franchise. It is very a fun and entertaining special filled with some festive baby adventures and it carries a pure message of learning the true meaning of Christmas.
The special tells us the story of Tommy and his friends celebrating his brother’s first Christmas and trying to make it special as well as keeping Dil happy.
This Christmas, the entire friends and families are heading off to visit Christmas Land, a winter wonderland designed by Stu, Dil and Tommy’s inventor father and endorsed by their Aunt Charolette’s company.
While celebrating Baby Dil’s first Christmas is the main plot, Angelica has her own story arc where she claims to be good all year, when in reality, she’s being completely naughty since the start of the episode where she scares off the Christmas carollers at hers cousins’ house, being rude to one of the staff members dressing as one of Santa’s elves and gong as far as gleefully lying to Tommy and his friends that if Dil doesn’t get a present the first time round, he’ll never have another Christmas for the rest of his life.
And she’s only digging herself deeper by driving the man who was hired to play as Santa to quit, making the kids think the real Santa Claus was calling it quits.
While Angelica had been a complete brat about the guy giving her a cute toy reindeer with a scarf plushy instead of what she had listed out what she actually wanted, I have to be honest, I did got out a few giggles when she exclaimed this following quote:
Angelica: You’ve got me a… MOOSE?!?! 😡
Meanwhile, while they were checking out the atheistic of an old pioneer cabin, the grown-ups get snowed in when Stu’s snow machine malfunctions and they try to think of a way to get out.
Back with the kids, when Kimi suggested that when “Santa” had quit, he had left all of the presents at his workshop back in the North Pole. Unfortunately, being the greedy and selfish little brat as she is, Angelica had no intention of sharing Christmas with the babies and wants all the presents to herself. She deliberately lies to the babies and directs them to the woods while she sneaks off to the North Pole on her own with Prancy the Reindeer as her only companion.
During a crazy yet cute fantasy of the babies getting involved in a scene from the Nutcracker, facing up against the wicked Mouse King and his mouse army, the babies gathered a few items they believed are presents: Chuckie finds a large Christmas walnut, Phil takes a ballet slipper from Clara (of course Lil did ask first) while Lil takes a ribbon and Kimi picks a small bell that Chuckie accidentally kicked off from the Mouse King’s neck (long story).
After making their escape, the babies encounter a lost goat under the belief he belongs to Santa and decided to take him with them.
While still trapped in the cabin, the adults soon start to learn the true meaning of Christmas while making decorations and roasting chestnuts just like the pioneers used to do.
Meanwhile, after she reaches the North Pole, Angelica starts to understand the true meaning of Christmas herself after she was given “The Reason You Suck” Speech from Santa’s head elf when he told her the cold hard truth about her being nothing but naughty throughout the entire night as well as is genuinely heartbroken when a now living Prancy rejected her after she had called him a “dumb reindeer” earlier.
After a charming song sequence that motivated her to be good all through the year while treating each day like Christmas, Angelica has a change of heart and reconciles with Prancy while deciding to seek out the babies and bring them their presents.
Meanwhile, after he thought the kids were under the care of his wife, Lulu and the other adults, Grandpa Lou volunteers to play Santa while the guy who had quit is missing in action. When he other hears a report of “Six babies have been seen with a goat heading towards the Bethlehem pavilion”, Lou grabs a little one horse open sleigh and rides off to the rescue.
Open reaching Bethlehem, the babies find a doll of Baby Jesus and give him all the presents they had gathered on their journey. Even Dil wanted to give the baby the hat he had picked up, which is a very sweet Character Development since Dil tends to get all grabby, claiming anything he gets his tiny hands on since his debut in the first movie.
After Lou rounds them up and pulls over to dig his family and friends out from the snowed-in cabin, Chuckie is the one to voice out that the presents don’t really matter since the babies still had fun together and that Christmas is all about being with all they hold so dear.
A fully reformed Angelica enters the scene and gives the babies their presents. To add in the heartwarming moment, she decided to give Prancy to Dil, promising she’ll visit her reindeer friend.
After the fa likes are reunited, everyone all agree that this Christmas is the best one yet before they all gathered around the piano as Lou and Lulu happily sing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas while the specials ends with the real Santa Claus flying over Christmas Land in his sleigh, delivering gifts to all the good children all over the world.
I always liked tobelieve that Babies in Toyland is the official finale of the original Rugrats because it serves a healthy Character Development for Angelica’s character and I just love the message it brings out the true meaning of Christmas.
Hope you all enjoy that special as much as I do and I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and may your dreams shine. ✨

My first thought on the Barbie movie thing is that I'm probably not going to watch it until five or six years later when no one really cares about it. If I still have 'toyetic media and gender' autism then, I think that the benefit of hindsight would bring something interesting to the experience.*
My second though is that we should also do feminist and leftist and anti-racist and and and critique about boy-centred toy franchises then. I endorse it actually!! God knows they deserve it!!
My third opinion - and a general opinion on toyetic media in general tbh - is that like. I think even thought enjoyable art can come from anywhere, one can't forget about the real life circumstances that produce the art in question. Sure, your favourite toy franchise may be trying to make more woman-centred stories now, may be trying to create more POC characters now, may be including more queer characters now. This girl toys line may be trying to bring a more feminist sensibility to the endeavor. This boys toy line may finally be trying to balance out the gender ratios. But like. How are the female and minority employees at the company treated? Who makes the toys? Who gets let into the writer's room? This woman of colour had several delightful episodes in this show written mostly by white male writers, but the work isn't done until things get better for the woman of colour making her figurine for a dollar a day.
*My first-and-a-half thought is therefore that I won't really say much about the movie itself, but more about the circumstances around the movie. It'll probably be good for me to actually watch it before commentate on it lmao.

For Locket:
What changes do you think would be made between your muse as they exist in your head vs how they would be treated as part of canon?
What headcanons/theories do you believe fandom would invent about your character?
Are there ship wars? Are they a popular character to ship, or the kind of character that gets shuffled off and away from shipping for whatever reason?
What is the wildest crackship you can imagine for your character, whether in-universe or in crossover?
For Una:
If there are multiple adaptions/If they are part of a multi-part franchise, which ones would your character appear in?
What fan-material would exist for your character in fandom?
What would be the ‘incorrect but wildly popular’ interpretation of your character in fandom?
What corners of fandom would consider your character blorbo material?
And for Sirena!
What role would your character play in the story? Are they a major player, or a one scene wonder?
Besides your face/voiceclaim, who do you think would be cast as your character?
What feelings does your character most often instill in their fans? Affection? A desire to protect? Open lust? A love/hate dynamic? Why do you think their fans feel this way?
By contrast, what would their haters dislike about your character? Is it a petty complaint? A mischaracterization of the character or their intentions? Are they just a woman in a largely male-centric series?
Be honest. What song is playing over an AMV/tiktok of scenes between your character and their love interest?
Locket:
What changes do you think would be made between your muse as they exist in your head vs how they would be treated as part of canon? Hmm, well, Locket's canon would be the MCU part of Marvel since I did use that for some of Marvel Descendants lore, and versus how I imagine her...she would be beyond different in the MCU. For starting orders, her backstory would likely be different, given timeline and Loki's current state in the MCU, but she'd likely be a random child on Asgard who only starts to get involved in stuff Phase 4 onwards as we see the Asgardians on Earth, given her Asgardian mom. And knowing the MCU, for some reason, she'd either get lucky and actually do her own thing in the plot or she'd just be a plot device that needs the heroes protection and such and in both scenarios, she'd be quippy constantly and even though she is not a young avenger, MCU would try to set her up as one likely like they doing with every young hero. There is also the fact her trauma from Devlin Kilgrave would not exist in MCU cause...his dad does not (there's a pro there). But there's a high chance in the MCU, her being genderfluid and bisexual would be erased or it'd be just a few seconds at best.
What headcanons/theories do you believe fandom would invent about your character? Feel like given Locket's darkness plot throughout Marvel Descendants, theories would pop up about if she has darkness still after Trickster's Daughters and if any of her kids in the future has gotten the darkness from her. And technically involves Locket, but when it comes to Bree in Entity High, theories might happen about the two being related due to uh, let's say stuff being hinted at....aka a crossover theory lol. You'd also have your typical possession theories when it comes to Mariana and Locket...I have seen things in fandoms, okay.
Are there ship wars? Are they a popular character to ship, or the kind of character that gets shuffled off and away from shipping for whatever reason? Very likely Locket would be shipped with other characters in Marvel Descendants (sadly including um, the icky side of fandom shipping, but we ignore that), and I endorse multi-shipping, given I do it myself, so....
What is the wildest crackship you can imagine for your character, whether in-universe or in crossover? ...Locket X Thorn. That is the most crackiest you can get when it comes to Locket and shipping, given how these two first met and how it took until book 4 for them to start getting along as friends at least, but they'd be victim to 'enemies to lovers' in fandom fully.
Una:
If there are multiple adaptions/If they are part of a multi-part franchise, which ones would your character appear in? Hmm, well Una is Descendants, which it a multi-part franchise...so I think: If we going by her story, she'd be in all three parts and the Royal Wedding, not so sure on Rise Of Red since it is believed Uma is only in the past so debatable if Una is with her, and she would be in Wicked World at least and likely in all four books (rip Una in Escape, because she would suffer bad writing like everyone did). If we going by Descendants canon, not in first film nor first two books nor wicked world, but she'd be in second film and third film, Royal Wedding and the last two books (again RIP Una, Escape is the worst book to appear in).
What fan-material would exist for your character in fandom? Very likely your normal fan-material you get in Descendants fandom, aka fanart and fanfiction, very likely either on her own or with her sister/the sea three or with Audrey.
What would be the ‘incorrect but wildly popular’ interpretation of your character in fandom? Given Una is mute, its very likely that uh, Una would be considered a soft pure speechless baby who needs protection and is never given her own autonomy.
What corners of fandom would consider your character blorbo material? Likely the Sea Three and Audrey sides of the Descendants fandom would when it comes to Una.
Sirena:
What role would your character play in the story? Are they a major player, or a one scene wonder? Given Sirena's story is a OC X Mal X Ben story, Sirena would be a major player as one of the core five given a chance to be good and attend Auradon Prep, only for her to slowly realize she likes Mal and later, Ben as well.
Besides your face/voiceclaim, who do you think would be cast as your character? I honestly have no idea because is too many blonde haired actresses to keep track off, so uh...
What feelings does your character most often instill in their fans? Affection? A desire to protect? Open lust? A love/hate dynamic? Why do you think their fans feel this way? I would say Sirena would fall into 'desire to protect' due to same reasons we want to protect the core four in first film: their family situations on the Isle and the fact that they face a-lot of shit in Auradon, this being the same reason Sirena would fall into 'affection'.
By contrast, what would their haters dislike about your character? Is it a petty complaint? A mischaracterization of the character or their intentions? Are they just a woman in a largely male-centric series? People may find Sirena annoying at times due to how Sirena sometimes acts like her mom, and given she's an addition to the Ben and Mal ship, some shippers may not like her entering their ship.
Be honest. What song is playing over an AMV/tiktok of scenes between your character and their love interest? I...honestly do not know that many romantic songs and the ones I do know, uh, do not match Sirena X Mal X Ben, so...

btw just because you dont hold transphobic views, doesnt mean you cant support transphobia. when you give j k rowling money, she *will* use it to harm us, whether you agree with her or not. doesnt matter if you yourself arent doing the harm, you’re giving her the tools to do it and that makes you complicit in transphobia, whether you want to or not.
pirating the game may not give her money, but it still gives her popularity and additionally supports the many other messed up aspects of the game ie. the antisemetism and racism. please just play a different game. if you want to imagine yourself in this universe where you own slaves and harm marginalised groups for wanting to gain cultural respect so bad then you should really think about why. i know this may not be the reasons you want to imagine yourself there, but you’re clearly willing to turn a blind eye to it. genuinely please consider why you’re so willing to ignore these aspects.
also i saw youve been trying to avoid spoilers and just wanted to say that this is a situation where you’re just gonna have to get over that because those spoilers are revealing just why this game and universe is, as a whole, so fucked up
Alright so.
1. Have not even purchased the game. No money has been exchanged. I use switch emulators for everything so even so, I would not be 'promoting' anything. But I completely understand what you're saying
2. I have had multiple sides tell me that there is anti Semitic views in the game and also that there isn't. The only way to know we're to see it myself. I will not, and have not, taken that away from anyone or said they are wrong, I genuinely do not know.
3. I am 10000000% aware of everything J.K. Rowling has endorsed, supported, and promoted. Do I agree with her or support her views? Absolutely not. Do I know that she will be receiving attention and royalties from this game? Yes of course. But there are also people who have out their blood, sweat, and tears into this game and deserve to have their hard work shown. They deserve to get paid. Those people can also be individuals, who completely denounce jk rowling, but have a love for the franchise just as much as us who grew up with it. Those hard working employees deserve to be appreciated.

Lindsey was a bottle girl and part time hairdresser when she met Toews. It was as a bottle girl that she met Toews. Toews had to pay off some debts Lindsey accrued. She went to full time hairdresser after dating Toews. Having Toews as bf is what got her as a sort after hairdresser. Toews paid for Lindsey side of her salon she is in partnership with. She got a lot of hate because she was a party girl/bottle girl but Toews was a frat boy as well. But it always seemed neither cheated on each other until towards the end when it was very much a off and on relationship until it was off for good. As for the other site on Crosby he learnt very early not to have a public private life and Kathy seems to stick to that rule. Does he cheat maybe. Who knows. Also they bash Amanda for not going out with wags she is 35 with a 2 year old. Her life is now about her family not wag lifestyle and kane seems to love both off them. People forget these guys play hockey and are human and so r the gf and wifes
Do you mean wives ? None of these 3 was or is married to Toews, Kane, Crosby . Maybe Crosby is married and they have a child now looking on Kathy's hair and a belly cradling by both on the photo and overgrown dark roots of L Blakeley actress but gosh you have all sort of info from all NHL franchises all over North America .
i agree it is not easy life to be wag with non stop travel and moving and all 3 were or are long term partners . Amanda has had her party time and fun Kaner has met her as a waitress during her uni, supporting herself. So Lindsey . It is up to her to keep her biz afloat and so during pandemic. It does not matter who has funded her biz as it is not her vanity project. She has had balls to leave him as he loved her but not enough to have a child with her. She could go ahead to have a kid with him and a child maintenance. It was pandemic, she has found her new Mr Right asap and he's a father of her baby girl. No public spats or posing online like Elina .I think Tazer has suffered so far. Kathy is out since 2014. More hyped media bubble about Crosby since his teens what you can't see about Bedard now or fake choir boy hermit image applied on McDavid to sell jerseys and a young captain and scoring machine image lol ...really, she comes from well to do background. Not rich one but the background and family where Steptford Housewives are born and bred. They don't work and a wealthy partner is expected. So far so good if there is a commitment what seems to be a case but relationships break and divorce is easy. So the marriage is sought. And prenup to award the woman in the question, not easy split of the couple who grew apart with all sorted out beforehand. She is 37. 15 years together. I'd think twice to stay like Lindsey to waste my chance to have family etc to be a semi hidden partner of busy ice hockey player. If they have fertility problem, ok. It's understandable but then again it's fair Kay game to release the girl like Lindsey to go than drag her around the rink. I think Kathy wants to stay, for various reasons like comfort, trust, routine of a partner she knows and also his money to ke a housewife. Her work is a light commercial modelling that does not count with million per an endorsement so she relies on her partner. Any split makes it harder and old insurance in the form of the child as well as legal marital cord is not here. She can use a cohabitation as she reaches 40 and so the end of modelling fun but it does not set her for a life.. Call Vecchione a bottle girl as any woman is a marketing guru with IN or a model now but Vecchione without a cushy family background of executive father is doing very well and far from a doormat. Kathy is hanging on for dear life, years and years...no a job. Crosby stays in Pittsburgh. Call Hevner a plastic Barbie in latex tight pants from Disneyland she has been working for years and grasped the sale management..I'd say Kathy has neither a child not a job in the case to support herself and Crosby is also interesting man with his freaking about privacy yet posing happily with Drake and two bottle girls. You don't see it with Kane right now...he has had his scandals, huge cab drama but never hiding it is not him.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Tumblr media
Technically, Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon is a better film than its predecessor. There are fewer bad jokes, the plot makes more sense and some of the questionable additions to the series are absent. That doesn’t mean it’s not too long, poorly written, or in any way satisfying.
When the Autobots discover that the United States government has known about the Ark - a Cybertronian spacecraft that crash-landed on the dark side of the Moon - since 1961, tension between the alien robots and humans rises. What neither group realizes is that this discovery is part of a sinister Decepticon plot.
Rejoice! Wigger bots Skids and Mudflap have been unceremoniously written out of the series! Unfortunately, they’ve been replaced by new, equally irritating characters. Ken Jeong plays a psychotic office worker who harasses Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), John Malkovich plays his extremely O.C.D. boss, and John Turturro’s Simmons is back - this time he comes with a goofy sidekick (Alan Tudyk). Cut them all out and you might have a picture that actually gets interesting before the first hour. At a bloated 154 minutes, this film is in desperate need of some editing.
This effort by director Michael Bay (who doesn’t seem to be listening to the critics) and writer Ehren Krueger is as terrible as Peter Cullen is dedicated to his role as Optimus Prime. Yes, the special effects, action sequences, sound editing, and character designs are all great. It's neat to hear Leonard Nimoy (who voices Optimus' mentor Sentinel Prime) in the movie, as he voiced a different character in the 1986 film but there's no "love" from the franchise. The proof is in the plot. The picture begins on the wrong foot with Sam struggling to find a job and now dating a new hottie, Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley). You'd assume he snagged her with his very appealing resume of having saved the world twice... but then why is he career-less? Shouldn't he have some sort of human-alien ambassador position at least? Meanwhile, a bunch of new Cybertronians are hanging out on our world without any explanation...
It’s hard to generate any enthusiasm for this film. I could list everything wrong with it, but why bother? Nobody cares. Optimus is a violent thug who proves himself so powerful he basically removes all tension from the picture. Sam is irritating, his relationship with Carly isn’t believable, and the drama between the two of them and her boss (Patrick Dempsey) isn’t compelling. The villains are only threatening when they’re annihilating everything in their path but you know the story will come up with some Deus Ex-Machina to even the odds. The film's conclusion may be definitive, but it's also as dignified as "Dickbot the blender guy" - a real character in this franchise.
I SHOULD like this film better than the second, but I don’t. Maybe it’s the character designs. Unlike those from Revenge of the Fallen, these don't feel inspired. While there are a couple of cool action scenes, they don’t measure up to that forest battle. The film doesn’t have the enthusiasm and heart of the first, and it isn’t doing anything new, not really. What are we left with, except visual and auditory noise? Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon is a film I can sit through painlessly but that's as feeble an endorsement as I can think of. (On Blu-ray, June 25, 2017)

//I'll answer these for Mun as I tagged it Munday =) Questions for movie fans Specify if for mun and/or muse! - @dontcxckitup
What’s your favorite movie?
Mun: THE MUMMY RETURNS/The Mummy - I mean as if it wasn't obvious. I love the mummy returns so much it's just so much fun and so quotable and it's one of those formative films that made me fall in love with adventure/pulp movies like that.
I also really love: The World's End, Galaxy Quest and Muppet Treasure Island, Die Hard.
Who’s your favorite actress/actor? -
So I have a few, I used to get very hyperfocused on actors, but I'm going to be honest I might not have seen everything they've been in. I think part of this is because I really like characters so if they have several characters I like I just class them as my favourite actors. I also think Rickman's death had an impact on me getting too attached to actors/actresses.....
Anyway, my favourites are: Rachel Weisz, Alan Rickman, Sam Neill, TIlda Swinton
Do you collect anything movie-related? Is there a backstory to any of those items?
So I used to collect DVD's and I have about 300+ of those but I stopped because of streaming/room/cost. They used to be a special thing I could get when I wasn't earning very much money. I have a few pop funkos and such but I think my collecting of movie/tv stuff really stopped after a certain author revealed herself to be a certain type of way. I don't want to get into politics here but that franchise was my specialist interest and I knew everything and I had so much merch, even a lot of stuff from before the films ever came out. I even have sticker books with animations from before the movies were released. I just found that I couldn't, in good conscious, keep engaging with the franchise and talking about - which kind of meant endorsing it - when the author/creator was and still is actively trying to hurt a minority of people.
I still have the stuff in my loft, packed away safe in case she ever apologises and realises the error of her ways but it kind of made me hesitant about collecting a lot of movie stuff.
That being said I do enjoy getting stuff that's like not directly merch but more fan created or something I see and associate with the movie (if that makes sense) - so like I have a Mark Sloan (Diagnosis Murder) build a bear. I have a star trek build a bear too with a little phaser.
That was a lot of rambling sorry!
Are there any movies that had a huge impact on you? In what way?
The Mummy/The Mummy Returns - It influences everything. I think watching it was one of the first times I sort of registered that this is how you do good, 3 dimensional characters. It's such a fantastic example of how to do a good ensemble cast movie. A brilliant example of how to balance comedy and horror and I adore it.
There's a lot of movies that have had a huge impact on me in different areas of my life so it kind of depends what we're talking about. I have to break them down and catergorise them haha!
Have you ever met an actress/actor? -
Tv actors and actresses I've met a few, I used to know someone who worked in soaps over here in the UK and they'd often have parties with soap actresses/actors.
I met Bianca Del Rio at a meet and greet.
I had the opportunity to meet a few at the Macbeth Premiere in Edinburgh but I was too nervous and chickened out (I wanted to meet Paddy Considine and have him sign something for me so BAD).
I just get too nervous tbh. So I don't know if I'd be able to meet one.

Director Ben Affleck Stars Matt Damon, Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Ben Affleck, Chris Tucker USA 2023 Language English, a tiny bit of German 1hr 51mins Colour
When Mike met Nike
It might be worth mentioning at the start that the shoes with probably the most screen time in this movie are the squidgy, comfortable brown leather ones worn by Matt Damon’s schlubby character. In other words, if you’re here for some Air Jordan sneaker fetishism, you’re in the wrong place. This is a movie about a business deal, one that just happens to have resulted in the most famous line of sports footwear ever. And since the vast majority of the audience will know the outcome of that deal, the film puts in a lot of effort into trying to convince us that there are real stakes here. That’s tricky, since you could argue what happened was that a guy who was on course to becoming insanely rich became unimaginably wealthy instead, and an already successful corporation become one of the world’s most identifiable brands. Quite late in proceedings, almost as a twist, we’re handed the idea that something more important is in the mix – I didn’t really buy that.
It’s 1984, and the teams of the National Basketball Association have just picked from the best available college players in the annual draft. At which point, the big sports brands compete for the endorsements of the top prospects. We’re told that Converse are the dominant force in basketball shoes, followed by Adidas with Nike a distant third. As the big guys will scoop up the most likely stars of tomorrow, Nike aim to be smart with the next-best-things, signing up a trio each year to spread their chances, since some players will inevitably struggle with the transition to the professional game while others will get injured.
Tumblr media
But this year, Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon), Nike’s chief basketball scout (and, as we’ve learned, a keen gambler) suggests a different approach: chucking their whole budget at one player. And the player he decides on is Michael Jordan – as the number three pick in the draft, he was hardly an underdog, but nor was he considered the surest of sure things. Sonny has to convince Rob Strasser (Jason Bateman), the director of marketing, and Phil Knight (Ben Affleck), Nike’s founder and CEO, as well as the Jordan camp.
And that’s it, really. Although the person at the heart of this deal is one of the most electrifying athletes of our lifetimes, the film mostly consists of badly dressed middle-aged (predominantly) white guys in dingy offices. As a director, Ben Affleck seems to be aiming to keep things simple here – he doesn’t do much to try make this very talky film particularly cinematic. When I think back on the film, I’m remembering exteriors of unexciting office blocks, interiors of a darkened canteen…
Michael Jordan himself gets the treatment that’s generally used for either religious figures or real-life criminals in movies: he’s present at meetings but we never see his face, just the back of his head or a shoulder. (Apart from archive footage of the man himself, that is.) Instead, his negotiations are handled by his mother Deloris (Viola Davis).
Tumblr media
Davis is terrific – when she’s on screen, the film comes alive. But we don’t really get enough of her. The other enjoyable performance comes from Chris Messina as Jordan’s shark of an agent – the one well-dressed middle-aged white guy. Damon, meanwhile, is fine but there’s nothing particularly unusual about him playing this potatoey but determined guy.
Tumblr media
There’s a big panic in some film circles about the decline of the non-franchise mainstream movie. This feels very much like an attempt to answer that problem – it’s a Damon/Affleck flick. It’s to do with a very famous product and the very famous person who lent his name to it.
The positioning to me is summed up by the soundtrack, which is packed with super-obvious hits of the day, starting with Dire Straits’ Money For Nothing and carrying on with stuff like ZZ Top’s Legs, filled out not by a purpose-written score but assorted Tangerine Dream tracks. Like the film itself, the choice of tunes leans quite white considering that Jordan – and the kids who made the sneakers super cool – were not. (One predictable exception, considering the subject matter, is Run DMC’s My Adidas, both played and discussed by the characters although in reality it didn’t actually come out until 1986.)
Tumblr media
Is Air a pretty painless way to spend a couple of hours? Yes. Is it the best film Ben Affleck has directed? No. Will it work if you know absolutely nothing about basketball? I think so.* Is this a corporate-cheerleading film that right near the end clumsily tries to position itself as something deeper? Yes. For the art of the deal stuff, are you better off rewatching an episode of Mad Men? Yes. And for any kind of insight into the bizarre (but obviously ridiculously successful) world of Michael Jordan himself, watch The Last Dance. *As it happens, the only period of basketball, particularly college basketball, I know anything about is exactly this one – I was reading Sports Illustrated magazine and watching the odd game on TV in the early 1980s. That came to an abrupt stop when we moved back to the UK in summer 1984 – so although I knew who Michael Jordan was, it was through the sneakers and their presence in hip-hop and Spike Lee movies that I experienced his phenomenon.
