So I've had this idea. Or theory? maybe headcanon thing? Rattling around in my skull since I watched HM 2023 for the first time. Mostly because it felt like a huge loose end, possibly for maybe another movie or series or piece of media in general. Spoilers under the cut. Go watch the movie.

Ok so we all know that the dream team banished Alistair at the end of the movie.

We don't know where he was banished to, all Harriet and Madame Leota say is it's a banishment (spell). So, he is somewhere, we just don't know where exactly.

It could be assumed that he's banished to the Region Beyond, but to me it's not likely because Harriet says, "when a soul passes and goes over into the Region Beyond, if it’s at peace, that’s where it stays." Taking that into consideration Alistair is most definitely not at peace so he ain't stayin' there. Harriet also makes the Region Beyond sound like "the good place" to go when u die so for them to banish him there just doesn't make sense to me.

This is the part where I might lose some of y'all if I haven't already, but I promise I'm trying to make sense.

What if that green pit is like one of the portals, we saw in the ghost realm in the mansion? So, Madame Leota and Harriet were opening a portal to the place he is banished to. Now we don't really see where Alistair goes, he just kinda flails around until the ground covers back up. But I have a theory of where he might have landed.

What if he landed back at his manor? But why? Because his head (or his skull rather) is still there. At least we are led to believe it's his skull because his hat was on it. It felt like such a loose end to do basically nothing with it. I get Travis not wanting to touch it mostly because it's a skull but also the spider. But for 1, to have Travis see it and say absolutely nothing about it whatsoever to anyone, and 2 to just leave it there and slowly pan out from it???? like cooommme oooonnn dude.

It's been bothering me for months now that nothing was done with it. I think the most plausible, real-life answer to this is that this was meant to be an opening for another movie or at least maybe that's what the people working on it wanted it to be. But I'm sure that Disney, the company, saw the movie as a flop and, from my perspective, I don't see them picking it back up for another movie unfortunately. But that's not to say that there isn't room for one! There definitely is, and the damn skull that's been messing with my brain for months is proof of it.

So do with this information (and my torment) what u will. If y'all have anything that debunks or supports my ramblings let me know, I've been thinking about this for a long time, so I'd love some fresh perspectives. Thanks for reading to the end!

Muppets haunted mansion

So this came out last year and I never got around to watching it before the new movie came out, and if you haven’t seen it… do. Some of it lags but there was a lot of honest to god gut busters packed in this cute tribute/parody. It does a great job with some of its references and jokes and it’s really in the spirit ( ahaha) of both the ride and the Muppets. Here’s some of my highlights

“Please, oh, please, let them rest in peace. For once they start, they never cease” whole song is great but this line took me out

“Ah, you speak Spanish?” “ no”

“Sorry, he’s new” “I’m new”

“I hoped We’d get a bigger cameo, beaky” “meep x4” “budget”

“Pumpkin spice lattes and a vampire bat, you must look for a door with a glowing Exat” the sign literally said exat and I think I started crying

Constance and her husbands, also how they’re all sort of still into her despite her killing them. Girl has one hobby and that is murder. You know what? Slay

Their use of “dancing in the moonlight” is similar to the new movies use of “superstition” where it’s absolutely perfect.

first off, i like to think that his dad was an actual priest. idk which denomination (i think thats the word) he would be. basically, i headcanon that movie kent is queer (not labelled or anything. in my au hes gay tho) basically, his dad didnt accept him, and since kent was a basement dweller still living with his dad, his dad kicked him out, which is how kent ended up in new orleans working at a costume store and pretending to be a priest.

also, i headcanon that he was living out of his car during the movie, and thats why he was so excited to move into the mansion/do all the food runs. hes homeless.

also, he plays d&d and his character is 100% a half-elf cleric.

ben:

bisexual he/they. idk if he uses the label masc enby or demiboy, but...look at him. the most bisexual he/they to ever bisexual he/they.

also he has autism. thats canon because i say so.

gabbie:

i havent seen this one as much, but i also hc gabbie as bi. she just gives off the vibes idk.

also, i like to think that she would be a jennifer tilly simp (in homage to the original leota actress) and she would be a total chucky lore buff.

travis:

hes got the autistic swagger as well. once everyone gets used to him at school he ends up with a load of friends that think hes actually really cool. he gets to brag about having such a big family, and he tells "elaborate" stories about ghosts during class.

bruce:

elder gay. he helps kent come to terms with himself, and acts like the father-figure he needed. he's supportive whenever kent needs it, lightens the mood when the mood calls for it, and teases kent like hes a middle schooler whenever kent talks about who hes romantically interested in.

Oh ya, I forgot to post about this when I was on my trip. I ran into Momento Mori when it started to rain, and I got a few things. When I was checking out, the cast member asked me if I wanted a sticker. I probably sounded like a stuttering idiot when I said, "yEs Ya tHaNk YoU sO mUcH."
