There are no censorship rules but please tag or specify subject matter if it's disturbing. Tw topic or cw topic are the preferred format. Dollblr tends to be friendly, encourage all levels of doll crafting especially the messy progress of slowly getting better at it and also like to highlight older dolls, thrift finds and fix ups, while also enjoying newly released dolls.

It's less polished, more chill, we take the time to mull over discussion (you can make posts non rebloggable if you don't want it leaving your circle of mutuals).

Your questions about the current version of the demo will be answered here! ⠀ Can I make an account and save my fairy? Accounts aren't an option right now - to enjoy the demo, you'll have to create a new fairy every time or use a CaF code.

At the end of the Create-A-Fairy process, you can copy and save a CaF Code, which you can use to skip Create-A-Fairy while keeping your character's design. We suggest you save this code in a Word document so you can copy and paste it at the beginning of Create-A-Fairy next time you play. To learn more about CaF codes, click here. ⠀ What meadows can I explore? At the moment, players can explore three meadows: Dewdrop Vale, Palm Tree Cove, and Neverberry Thicket. Other classic meadows are being developed. ⠀ Where are the talent games? What’s up with the profiles? They look like they’re missing a lot of stuff. We’re working with fairly simple profiles right now - over time, we’ll add more features. Right now, you can use profiles to report and whisper to individual users. ⠀ How will the chat system be filtered to keep the game kid-friendly? All chat messages are filtered using a whitelist of allowable words, including: meadow names, fairy name combinations, and much more. In the future, we hope to take player recommendations of words to add to our whitelist!

Originally I was gonna wait until the comic was ready to be posted to publish a website for undertronic ^w^ It's gonna host the comic (it'll be on webtoon/tapas as well) and it'll also have all the information you'll need in a convenient place, as well as extras like free wallpapers, concept art pieces (for those interested in behind the scenes things), translated versions for your language and anything else I feel would be fun/useful to have on the site (feel free to suggest ideas you'd like to see on there as well!)

But to answer your second question, you are welcome to make a wiki/blog in the meantime, I know previously the old wiki was more community contributed throughout the years ^w^ As for a fast way to get info, my discord server has dedicated channels for undertronic, including my "cat-cafe" channel that i answer very quickly personally if yoyre looking for some info, so feel free to drop by there! But I def will have the most accurate information on my website, I might start setting it up atleast but I aim to have it available as soon as the comic is released so new readers can learn more about the characters & world right away, if I can get it set up earlier than release I'll try to do that!~ ^o^ 🌸🌺

So, how's the JukeBox development coming along? Well, it sure is coming, I promise.

In case you don't know what a JukeBox is, it's a little hotkey device I'm building! I originally made this to assist with my endeavors in streaming, but it turns out having extra keys is very useful for a lot of things! Whether it be hotkeys for quickly running macros via AutoHotKey, managing your Discord audio settings, playing funny sounds with VoiceMod, switching tools in your favorite art program like Paint Tool SAI, or managing OBS like I do. It's a very powerful device, and all it does is act like a keyboard with the F13-F24 keys. I bet you didn't even know there was more than the F1-F12 keys, am I right?

About a year ago, I said I would begin selling these soon. That was a bit of a lie, fortunately I am very good at those. That last bit was also a lie, in case you couldn't tell. I got the opportunity to work on the JukeBox as part of an independent study for college credit, so I took a lot of time to plan and rethink the product. That part wasn't a lie The result is the new V5 board!

Ok so this isn't the actual V5 board yet.

I decided to completely change up what makes up a JukeBox. I decided to use an RP2040 chip, which is used to power a Raspberry Pi Pico. I used a Pico board, along with the old JukeBox V4 boards, an RGB LED ring, and an OLED screen to build my ideal V5 prototype. The result is the same JukeBox known and loved but with some added features, like reactive lighting and a screen to display fun graphics and info!

This is the finalized board, it's design has been shipped off to manufacturing, and will hopefully arrive right at the start of the new year. I'm paying a lot of money for just 10 of these things! I can't wait.

The plan is to sell 3 versions of the board, a basic variant (keyboard only), an RGB variant, and an RGB plus screen variant. Prices are still being determined, but they will be higher than previously anticipated due to rising material costs. The goal is to keep the basic variant at $25 to maintain affordability. You will also be able to choose what kinds of keys you want, be it Cherry MX Blues or Kailh Choc Whites.

I'm working on the final casing. It'll be a 3D printed shell with some nice M2.5 nuts and bolts. It'll also be in a mostly-opaque white so the RGB looks good shining through. The legs are also completely optional, both the case and the legs will have nice rubber feet to keep the board steady. The keycaps will be "relegendable", meaning you'll be able to stick a piece of paper in them with whatever you want on them. You get everything seen here, plus a USB-C cable, and my deepest gratitude. Maybe some day you'll get to have a JukeBox in atomic purple instead of a basic white!

The best part about it all is that you don't need to install any drivers! The keyboard component is always guaranteed to work on any computer that supports USB, and most usually do (hopefully). The screen and RGB won't work without a companion app, sadly, but I'm working hard to make it painless to setup and use, near plug-and-play. I've been writing it in Rust while working on the board, and it will support Windows and Linux without much issue.

Lastly, the entire project is going to be open source! The code will be under an open license, and all the physical parts will be usable under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-SA). I won't allow people to just up and sell the boards without modification, but if someone wants to make and sell their own variant I'd be more than happy to allow it if they ask. Devices like these should be cheap and accessible for everyone.

Hopefully I'll start selling these on my Ko-fi before Q2 of 2024. See you then!

Hey, sorry if this is bad(?), but I was wondering if you had any advice for getting into the xr world/career. I think I've seen you mention the topic (encouraging others to join the field?) at least once, but I don't know how to even get started. Thank you for your time!

not a bad thing to ask at all! I've actually been in the middle of writing a guide about this for some time that I will.... hopefully finish sometime soon ghskgh.

I hope you don't mind me posting this publicly - I ended up writing a short novel and figure it might be useful to others who are curious as well! anyways, the advice I give to people with a background in illustration is to start out with a Quest 2 headset. they retail at $300 new, but you can get them used via eBay, Craigslist, FB Marketplace or someplace like that for around $200 or under. the Quest 2 works without needing to be plugged into a PC, though you will probably want to buy a more ergonomic head-strap to make it more comfortable. (the head strap that Meta sells is overpriced, but this third-party one is really good) if you're interested in working with augmented reality (the type of work I do!) and have the ability to save up some extra money, I'd recommend waiting for the release of the Quest 3, which will launch this fall and cost $500. totally not a requirement at all to start learning, though.

other than that, I'd recommend starting out with free art programs like Open Brush and Gravity Sketch to familiarize yourself with creating in-headset. both of these programs have a large amount of tutorial videos up on YouTube - as well as an active community of other artists who are all generally very friendly and eager to help people learn. VR Art Live and The Spatial Canvas's Discord servers are the communities I'm part of. :)

after that, it all just comes down to posting your new artwork online to as many platforms as you can mentally handle (this is the hardest part for me, ghsghs), and also looking at paid XR artist programs/gigs. Mozilla Hubs, Horizon Worlds, and Figmin XR (that's me!) all have some creator opportunities where they pay people to create things on their platform.

you can also find work doing XR concept art, art performances, and I've even seen grant programs for XR artists from art galleries. these things are harder to find, but if you make a LinkedIn page and a modest portfolio of your XR art, chances are high that you'll get some eyes on it.

it's ridiculously easy to be a big fish in a small pond right now if you have any kind of skills with these programs. I will say that there does seem to be a push towards people who can create things that are interactive and can be shared with others (like AR Snapchat/TikTok/Instagram filters, experiences created and published to platforms like Mozilla Hubs, Figmin XR, etc.), so that's something to keep in mind while learning - but not something that should stop you!

going from 2D illustration to creating things in 3D space is a whirlwind of learning new skills that can often feel overwhelming, but the most important thing is that it should feel fun and enjoyable to you. I started out by just listening to music while painting in Tilt Brush (Tilt Brush was the original version of Open Brush, before Google made it open-source) and creating whatever felt the most fun in the moment. everything else just came from natural curiosity and connecting with other artists in the space.

lastly... I have no technical (coding, traditional 3D modeling) skills. I am a 2x college dropout with chronic mental illness, and prior to my current employment I was never able to hold a job for longer than 3 months. and yet....... this new industry has changed my life completely, and at 29 years old I finally feel like I have a purpose. I'm somehow a software developer now, without needing to know anything about software development. that's wild!!!

this is why I'm so excited for the future. if this brand-new technology (still in its infancy! viewed as frightening by so many!!) was able to help me in such a radical way... what will that mean for even more people discovering it as it becomes more accessible?

I don't know the answer to that yet... but I do know how wonderful it is to see people learning about all of this for the first time. helping with that alone is more than enough for me 💖

Hello, my name is Yupphire and I'm currently looking for new players for BlendedSMP, our community-focused Minecraft server. I started this server back in 2022 so I could play Minecraft with my friends. After a several month long hiatus, I am happy to announce that BlendedSMP is BACK! Why Join BlendedSMP?

The main draw of our server is that we use Geyser, which is a plugin that allows Java and Bedrock clients to play on the same server. Regardless of which version you and your friends have, you'll be able to play on BlendedSMP together (hence the name, BlendedSMP). If you're wondering what else is in store, here is a list of all the features BlendedSMP has to offer!

- Our server is very LGBTQ+, meaning BlendedSMP will always be a great safe space and community for those who are LGBTQ+

- We are on the new 1.20 update! You can enjoy all of the new features from 1.20 on BlendedSMP.

- We use a variety of different hand-picked datapacks and crafting tweaks from Vanilla Tweaks, to enhance the Vanilla experience without the use of mods or other plugins. Because of our commitment to the Vanilla experience, you will never see plugins such as MCMMO or Vein Miner that drastically modify Vanilla gameplay.

- We use DiscordSRV to further connect the Discord server with the Minecraft server by allowing members of the Discord server to communicate with those on the Minecraft server, and vice versa.

- To prevent and undo potential griefing, we use CoreProtect so we can rollback any damage done by potential griefers.

- We have an active community that always welcomes new members.

How Do I Join BlendedSMP?

On our Discord server, we have an application process you'll need to go through in order to be whitelisted on the server, which can be found in #whitelist-application in the Discord server. It simply involves you answering a few questions about yourself. The application is designed for us to get to know you and see if you're a good fit for our server. We don't expect an essay but we expect a few sentences at the very least. However, please note that we do not allow users under 15 years old to join BlendedSMP.

Was talking about Curtis and Yancy on discord,and wanted to share my thoughts on them. But I felt just taking screenshots would kinda. Not do it enough, you'll get me rambling<3

Yancy and Curtis in the games were made to be love interests for the player and be painfully straight. Like worse than Shauna bc the two were literally gender locked. Bc of this, they don't really get much outside of being that romantic interest. But, like always, looking at their quotes and trying to get a crumb of lore and then going wild with it is what I do best :)

Yancy and Curtis are very interesting in my head. Yancy is timid, yet excitable. Despite knowing her role as an idol ( as in faking it), Yancy and Nancy ( her idol name) are still fairly similar. It's just that Nancy is far more....extra, compared to her usual self. A persona that's based on the real thing. Curtis is not timid like Yancy. He is more cool and confident, a bit more sure of himself. However, he is much more withdrawn. He knows his role, he knows how to act in such role, and because of that Curtis and Christoph are completely different from each other. That cool confidence is still there for both, but ultimately Christoph isn't who Curtis is.

Both Yancy and Curtis are lonely because of their jobs. Yancy only really has her family for support, but judging from her dialogue ( which. Is mostly the same as Curtis') some things are a bit more tense. She wants to make friends but her job, her role, is preventing her from doing so. So when she meets Curtis, someone who is in the same position as her, she hopes for a friend. She does not get that.

Curtis is much more withdrawn, like I said. He's a pretty private person. His idol life and his personal life must be kept separate, and part of that is him not making work friends. Work acquaintances, sure, but never friends. Not because he doesn't want any ( I think he would genuinely like the company), but making friends at work would bridge the divide of his work life and personal life, which would make things complicated and he does not want that. He doesn't hate Yancy, or even dislike her. He just doesn't want things to be complicated. So be politely rejects her ( very timid) invitation for friendship. Being work acquaintances that don't really know each other outside of their personas will have to do.

Do I think Yancy somewhat internalized this and starting to take their "rivarly" a little bit personally? A bit! She does tend to overthink sometimes.

I think the two only really become friends once they drop the agency they're in. Curtis still likes his solitude ( hence why he goes off grid to fish), but since he no longer has to keep two lives separate,he lets Yancy in and the two get to know each other more :)

I will say that the Legendverse version of events is very underdeveloped. Wayne is the one that does through the xtransreceiver event I think. Curtis being the one that loses his xtransreceiver is very interesting bc it's someone accidentally forcing themselves into his little bubble. But Yancy is someone who honestly reaaaally needs a friend ( I mean so does Curtis, but Yancy is actively longing for it). Both are really interesting and I don't exactly want to do both in fear of getting things crowded. Buuuuut yeah! That's my Yancy and Curtis thoughts! More might come soon lol.

Countdown to Sims 4's High School Pack is Under Way!

The next Sims 4 pack is going to be released on Thursday, July 28, and the patch ahead of it will happen on July 26.  This would be a great time for you to get your mods and custom content ready for whatever changes the incoming expansion pack will bring.

If you don't know what I mean by "get ready" ... come to Deaderpool's Discord.  We can help you update and organize your collection in ways that will minimize the damage you'll need to sort out after the patch hits.  

It is IMPORTANT that you follow the directions you'll see for verifying your way onto the server, and that you also READ our #server-info channel in the START HERE! section, as part of the verification process.  There are certain NSFW mods and custom content we will instantly ban you for having, so it's in your best interest to know what you have, and what not to bring onto the server, if you want our assistance.  

We don't help players using stolen/cracked/pirated versions of Sims 4, either.  If you don't play through either Origin or Steam, you'll need to fix that, and also update to the current version of the game, before we can do anything for you.

There are usually over 70,000 members on the server, and the Support Team consists of about 30 folks who are willing to try to help people navigate the ins and outs of keeping Sims 4 running well... as long as we don't feel like we're being taken advantage of.  

The #server-info channel I mentioned contains a LOT of details on how you can best help us help you... and several tips on what NOT to do, also.  If you come into support asking what file we would prefer for you to post, if you post the same thing in more than one channel without specifically being asked to move... we can immediately tell you didn't take the time to read our "rules of the road."  There really is not any reason we should have to repeat the same things to 70,000 people individually, that's the whole purpose behind the server info channel.  

Additionally, impatience, rudeness or any kind of trolling will not be tolerated.  "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" is very much true.  We simply aren't going to waste time on people who don't appreciate that we're volunteers, people who won't treat us decently.

Please realize that loading a newly-patched game with not-updated mods/cc can be a REALLY bad idea.  We ask players NOT to visit support without having done a vanilla test, or at the very least a MCCC-only test, first.  And with an expansion pack incoming, it's possible MCCC will need an update to work with the new code, as well.

This is the final part of the Community Update, complete with a bunch more player-requested features and fixes! Let's get into the main features of this update:

## Entertainment District Overhaul 🎪

The Entertainment District has been rebuilt from the ground up to offer tons more games and activities, a better layout, and clearer directions for games! There are 4 brand new hide and seek arenas, a MASSIVE ice boat racing course, a revamped Red Rose arena, and ~~food trucks~~ much, much more! Want to add games to the District? Come on down and pick some of the fresh land to start building today!

## Proximity Voice Chat 🎙️

By installing the Plasmo Voice Fabric mod, players can now use proximity voice chat in-game! This means that you'll be able to talk to other players directly within Minecraft itself, with the added perk of players getting louder and softer as they get closer to and further away from you! Note that this mod is optional; only the players with the mod installed can hear each other! Be careful speaking in ancient cities, though...

## Pets! 🐶

Donator ranks now have access to tons of different pet mobs, ranging from sheep to camels to even the warden! Additionally, you can change a ton of properties about your pets, and you can even ride them! Check our website page https://parallelmc.org/pets/ to see which ranks have access to which pets!

## Custom Note Block Music

Diamond rank players now have access to the `/music` command, where you can play over 100 different note block songs and have access to the server radio! You can even even buy a special Jukebox from Rudy's Forge to place down in the world and play these songs from! Make your parties that much more awesome with Creeper Aw Man, or rickroll someone within Minecraft itself!

## Tons of New Items 🥫

Gino now sells Pizza and Sushi Rolls, each of which have special effects! Red now sells a Flight Accelerator that you can hold to fly twice as fast in Space! Vanessa Moore now sells two new lore books! Hal now sells a White Top Hat (with more cosmetic items around the corner)! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Also, some of the older fishing items do special things now (check #patch-notes in our Discord)! However, due to internal changes, only __new__ fishing items can be smelted/interacted with. Ask a staff member if you want to swap your old items out for some new ones!

## New Emojis 😍

Five more emojis have been added from our server texture artist, CallMeSquidKid! `:wink:`, `:triumph:`, `:sob:`, `:smile_tear:`, `:rage:`, and `:smiling_imp:`! They are the pixelated versions of these, respectively: 😉, 😤, 😭, 🥲, 😡, and 😈. Go ahead and express yourself more than ever before!

First off, thank you so much for sticking with this slight delay; we've been working crazy hard to squash bugs and glitches. We've had a ton of fun putting together this wacky hodgepodge of features for you over the course of the Community Update this summer; we loved seeing what all of you did with these new additions, and we have big plans for updates to keep on rolling. Will literally pay to roleplay with someone who can do a decent Kirk Langstrom impression (Status: OPEN)

A little over a year ago I made a post advertising I was looking for a roleplay partner who could do an impression of the Trollhunters character Draal the Deadly, and said partner would receive $50, as a sort of thank you reward for the time and effort they’d dedicate to indulging all the storylines and little ideas rattling around in head lol xP

Since it worked out pretty well, I’ve decided to give it another go with a different character 🙂

This time I'm looking to roleplay with someone who can do an impression of the DC Comics character, Professor Kirk Langstrom, aka the Man-Bat. Specifically, a redeemed version akin to the Earth Prime variation who would later go on to join the Justice League Dark, who makes his latest appearance to date (to the best of my knowledge) in Batman and Robin 2023.

Just like last time, the volunteer will receive $25 immediately and $25 upon the initial roleplay’s completion. For your convenience, please allow me to once again up-front clarify these important points: 

* This is NOT an NSFW or romance/shipping-based in general type of roleplay; that isn’t really my style. I'm more the action-adventure with a dash of mystery and character-development kind of guy.

* While I do have a general plot in mind, it is completely subject to change depending on what the volunteer is comfortable with; in other words, I'm willing to work with you to take into account how you usually prefer to pace things or if you have your own headcanon details you'd like to include to make this an enjoyable experience to both participants.

* If worried about literation, well, not to brag, but I think you'll find I've got eight years worth of roleplay and storytelling experience, and my narrative abilities are second to none ^^

* I’ll reserve the right to cancel the roleplay and keep the remaining half of the money if I'm kept waiting for more than two weeks during RP turns/responses. I understand if you're busy or have other stuff going on, but please understand in turn that if you make me wait for days, days and more days on end just to get like a sentence…well, that’s just not very considerate  :l

* I usually use Discord to RP, as I find it to be a quick and efficient means of communication while also having the perfect conditions for roleplaying when considering you can create servers and channels for organization purposes. However, if the volunteer is more comfortable using a different format I'll adapt accordingly :)

* I generally use PayPal, but if the volunteer uses a different payment method, that’s fine, all I humbly ask is that you walk me through how it works if I’m unfamiliar with it.

* Upon contact and if you do wish to roleplay, I’ll give you one or two questions, mainly, a prompt I’ll ask you to respond to; this will just be a little practice scenario that will allow you to showcase your impression of what you would do in said-scenario as Langstrom. This will demonstrate to me that you understand the character and aren’t just rushing into this for the $50 without even having seen the shows or comics he appears in.

Deathloop Slab only: Day 2 (technically 3)

So uh, I didn't write down what I did in game yesterday, and I was high as fuck so I hardly remember what I did either, so you'll just get the cliff notes

-I got the Flicker upgrade for Aether

-I got every base slab that I didn't already have

-I all but finished Space invader

-I finished Devouring of the Lambs and Lost in Transmission

-I got the unique sniper

Day 3

I wanted to finish Radio Silence as soon as possible today mainly for plot reasons but also because I wanted the purple quality PT spiker that tags enemies, the last of the horizon stations I need to do is the one in Karl's bay so I have to spend the morning in The Complex (I didn't try the wake up challenge again).

This trip to the complex was very eventful but I don't have the patience to give you a minute by minute transcript so basically I'd fuck up and fail stealth, successfully sneak away, then fuck up again for like 20 minutes. Anyway I only sent power to Karl's Bay since I don't think it does anything but unlock the Horizon doors.

I wanted to go to Karl's bay next but you can't go at noon for some reason, so instead I went to Fristad Rock to kill Fia again, she spotted me when I opened the door to her... round room thing. Which really showed me how useful that gun is going to be in this challenge. And I got Withdrawal which gives me power every time I get a kill while Havoc is active, it can basically make me immortal for an indefinite amount of time.

But in the afternoon I actually have three things to do Karl's Bay, first I collect the Earworm upgrade for Fugue which isn't really that good, then I find frank's fireworks to properly start The Ballad of Ramblin' Frank. Finally I go to the Horizon station and have a conversation with a past, present or future version of myself (the lore is weird, I might do a video/long tumblr post about it). I also collect the password and the tagging nail gun

I spend the Evening in Updaam, first going to the RAK and learning I need to kill every visionary but Julianna in order to get to Julianna to kill her by having another conversation with another version of myself (again, the lore and story is weird), finally completing Radio Silence. I then go to Otto's workshop to find it burned down, oh no if only I could have done something to prevent this tragedy from happening. Then I finally go to Aleksis' party to kill him again. tip for finding Aleksis: he is the only person at the party with two exemplar Limp 10s which are easily noticeable since they're orange. I turn off the chocolate tap to draw him into the cellar where I murder him and collect Zone which is a decent upgrade for Karnesis. Julianna invaded somehow even though I turned off invasions.

The next morning I go to Updaam again because I remembered that this game is about a time loop so I could just stop the fire before it happens, so I do that and comeback to Updaam again at noon to get the password for Franks fireworks and I collet Reach from Charlie by crashing his Among Us larp party. I go Karl's Bay, thankfully collect Discord from the collector and stealth kill him for the first time in my time playing this game, and sabotage Frank's fireworks to finish The Ballad of Ramblin' Frank. I go to The Complex in the evening and collect Ghost which is good for normal stealth gameplay but because of my current playstyle it isn't all that good. this was probably the shortest day I've played in deathloop, that might just be because I actually planned the whole loop that time

Thought's on Flicker:

I never used Flicker much in regular gameplay but it is actually very useful since it's like havoc but no one knows where you are, so outside of one situation it's better in general.

The issue is when I sometimes get the first two, almost always get the third, and never get the last two. Sometimes, I've already made something and I just want to feel like it was worth sharing it, and it can both be a really fun conversation, but can also help me improve for next time.

I love to share. That's my goal here. What makes me sad is when I try to share what I've made, and no one wants to share it with me. It's valid and fine that people don't want what I'm giving, I just won't share that kind of fun here anymore. I'm not gonna keep asking people to play Street Fighter when all they want is Mario Kart. I'll just play Mario Kart here and Street Fighter elsewhere. Sucks but it's life, right? It's fine. Just makes me sad.

It makes me sad when I make a nothing post and get something, and when I make a something post and get nothing.

That's it. That's my point. I love talking AUs and ideas and stuff. I love making stuff and won't stop making stuff. It's just sad when I make something with care, get excited for a response, and no one else seems to care about it or want to respond to it. It's sad and it sucks so I'm doing something about it. (One of which is... maybe not getting hopes up for people engaging with something? Seems like I was setting myself up for the fall there ngl. Not anyone's fault but my own really)

And this IS the last time I'm talking about this, I just wanted to clarify what exactly I was upset over, and what I'll be taking back to my little Discord rabbithole. I'm not leaving or anything, I'm just changing what I do here a bit. I dunno exactly what or how much to change, but I have some starting points. I'll get there.

But yes. I'll come back to answer any asks I've left later. For now, I'm making a note about the rock thing to do another day, gonna work with the dog, do some Wiki stuff, and take a breather so I can come and do what I want to do without the undertones. Gonna get it out my system and come back either tonight or tomorrow we'll see.

Hey everyone.. I really have no idea where to start this and considering I'm babysitting my friends two kids atm it might be a little scattered but I need to get this off my chest while it's on my mind cause otherwise I'll forget.

I wanna start off by saying that I am really, really sorry for just disappearing on you guys for over a month. That was 100% not my intention but life just kept knocking me on my ass. I've had some health stuff, physical and mental, going on as well as just personal life stuff. With all of that I just haven't been in the headspace to roleplay and I didn't want to come on here and give you guys a half-assed version of myself and my muses. And I'm finally starting to get muse back thanks to my darlin' in the Discord server.

Secondly, I am gonna be busier than I was before I left as I'm not only babysitting my 9-year-old sister when my parents need but also my best friend's kids a few times a week since she was having issues with her old babysitter. I'll let you guys know in advance what my weekly schedule is gonna look like so you'll know when I'll have time to be on.

Thirdly, I am gonna go ahead and just delete everything in my ask box and drafts and start fresh because I feel like that's the easiest way to go about this but if there's any specific thread or plot you'd like to continue please let me know and I'd be happy to pick it back up or restart it. Also if you don't wish to rp with me at all anymore that's completely understandable. If you do though I promise I will be better at answering things and all that.

Fourthly, I have some more muses I'll be adding later once I'm home, mostly OC's but there's some canon as well. Also you may have noticed the theme change, it's kinda an Anti-Valentine's day thing and I'm just gonna keep most of my Google Docs things the old colors since they take a while to change and this theme probably won't be around for long after V-Day-

And lastly, I just wanna apolgize again for disappearing with basically no explanation. Alright let's go. The fandom is The Untamed/Mo Do Zu Shi, and I will love it forever. If you've seen long hairedtruly beautiful chinese twinks in long robes in swords, it's probably then. the original source is a web novel written by an anime fic author, and I'm really into the live action version (there's also animated, comic, audio drama)

It caused me to learn a LOT about chinese culture language. Like, a lot, I tried Mandarin for a bit on duolingo but I can't even explain how much I learned about history, food, culture, forms of address, poetry, just, so much. The fandom is full of fancy smart bitches, one of my fave tumblrs is someone who majored in ancient china, and the analysis etc was just chef's kiss amazing. i wouldn't be doing chinese brush painting, and that's bringing me a lot of joy, i've never done visual art before.

I would not have learned so much about culture if it wasn't for my very tightknit group chat. I mentioned I'm on a plane to see friends? It's one of them & their spouse (who i've known since college) and one of the other people in the groupchat, who only knows them because I watched the untamed and introduced my friends. last spring us and the 4th member of the gc went on vacation together. I'm the only person who is fully monolingual, and the only one who isn't an immigrant or child of immigrants from taiwan. I've learned so much about so much of those experiences, and I didn't consider myself ignorant before, but you really need to get to know someone to understand some things (as much as you can without living it

the fic is FUCKING AMAZING. idk how many unread bookmarks i have of fic that is professional publication quality - partly because some of the authors are pro writers. I've been lucky to get to read a loooooot of fic by professional writers, cause my fandoms and ships overlapped. There is so much fic, closer to 100k than 50k i think.

i bonded with other friends by getting on calls and watching with them. i was maybe pushy lol. sadly i'm not gonna try and get anyone into mcyt

Some drama and.... discourse has become such a loaded term. But sometimes you have things like conflict that comes up between the feelings and desires of chinese diaspora and jewish people about how things are portrayed in fic, right? And it's not fighting over nothing, it's (afaik) not fighting to fight, not fighting for clout or because you want to look cool or because you're unhappy with your life and think lashing out will help.

Also, there is fighting to fight and for clout etc. If I ever see top/bottom discourse again it will be too soon, i've got enough of that to last till the heat death of the universe

translations, man. translation is an art and i am glad to know so much more about translation but it's so frustrating to know you'll never really get it, and to try and tell people things like "i know he sounds very brusque but he's speaking ina. very fancy linguistic register and sounds fancy to the other people, and the way he said all those sentences there and they were all four characters long, that's poetic and significant and and and"

I was not inspired to write in general, I wasn't getting ideas. That wasn't notable because I've never ever ever written regularly, i wrote one yuletide fic a year for awhile, i old wrote novely. I am not someone who pops into a new fandom and writes 6 fic in 2 months cause that's the kind of thing that've done in other fandoms. this is insane. And now that i have the writing bug... well, the fic is so amazing, and plentiful, i'm not going to get much attention. i just wrote an exchange fic, my first time writing in the fandom, because my mcyt fic writing encouraged me. I am glad i did it, i made my recipient happy, and it will never get as many kudos as my least popular mcyt fic. I think it has 8, and I'm happy to get that. Here's the thing, i have so many things i *can* do with my creative energies, and multiple that i do to reach and touh other people, and i'm not going to prioritize things where i know I'm not good enough to get read. It's not that i'm choosing writing vs nothing because i want people to read it, i'm choosing writing vs. other things

Comparisons

Okay i think a lot can be pretty obvious from what I said above. We don't have that much fic, we don't have canon smut, afaik we don't have pro authors - not that you have to be pro to be good! or that all pro authors are good! but they usually are pretty good.

other people i knew irl or from my long fandom past got into it. i would get ao3 fic notification from people and eagerly check to see if they'd gotten dragged in. i do not expect that to ever ever happen here. i have ventured far away from the fandoms of my past!

For me... I was a pretty normal age in the untamed fandom, and i am wicked old here. I'm an elder millennial. When I was in my 20s I met fans in their 50s, including at cons that make it really real. I don't see any reason people should drop interests cause they age??? It's bizarre and incomprehensible to me and I always wonder how people will feel when they age. I don't think there's anything inherently childish about this source, and i am happy to talk to younger people, but it's different when you know you're at a similar level of life stuff, and the privileges that come with age. i try to be careful and aware of this with my interactions with younger people. power imbalances etc and i think i do a good job. (my fandom before the untamed, that i was much more casual about, was other youtube and that was maybe even younger?)

The canon! oh my god! LOOK AT THIS SHIT. I majored in media studies and focused on fandom and what was at the time new media and this is... y'all if i was in college now i would be writing desperately about this. As a media studies person, as a larper, as someone who is obsessed with watching the ways people can express themselves and connect and stuff grow... fuck man. SMPs????? fuck yeah!!!!!! gah!!!!! catch me sober and i can be more coherent.

the untamed had so few female charaters. empires being so female is just so amazing to me, and i *am* working on f/f, it's just. the problem is jimmy, okay? no women throw themselves at jimmy, it's not *my* fault.

i can't fucking vid it. i just. can't. i can't draw and i never finished any vids for the untamed but i have so many unfinished ones. i'm not a great vidder but i love it, and not even having the possibility... it makes me sad a lot, actually. but i need facial expressions and more dynamic footage.

in conclusion fandom is great. before the untamed i hadn't been seriously into fandom in years, i've always been in and out. it was insane how into it i got. i started watching as i recovered from major surgery, and was still deep in the pandemic blues.

mcyt has unlocked creativity in me I never ever ever expected. i'm an elder millennial and i started reading fic when i was 12 and fic writing was never gonna be my thing. in 2021 i beta read over 100k words to contribute, in 2022 i started podficcing to have some creative expression of my own. my therapist and i talk about it all the time (i've been with her since i was 19, we talk about everything, and fyi what you love can say things about what's up with you and therapists know that, talk about your blorbos). I've determined i'm not getting an answer anytime soon. The medium is a lot, right, but it's more. I don't know, but I fucking love writing like this, the satisfaction, the fact that i made someone *cry* with my silly cave ranchers fic. I've made people cry a lot with my larp writing, but that intended to make them cry, not something i wrote in a fever dream in one day.

So thank you everyone who is part of my experience, it's been really great and i hope to keep being so happy and fulfilled and encouraged in my creativity etc!
