The Homebound’s-Guide to Being Punk
These are some suggestions for people that for whatever reason don’t have their own money, are dependent on other people for rides, are generally homebodies, or anything similar.
When you can, thrift your clothes! A lot of times you shop wherever someone brings you or wherever someone gets you a gift card to, but if you can, try thrifting!
Research a topic you’re interested in, and try finding an organization that is doing some good in that area, and bring some attention to them!
Support smaller artists by doing things like reblogging their art, listening to local bands in your area on a music streaming service, or reading books by local authors.
Hire local people to do odd jobs! Local plumbers, local electricians, etc. The decision might be out of your hands, but it’s worth bringing up to whoever is in charge.
If someone brings you to a store, bring a backpack and consider getting some stuff that you wouldn’t normally pay for, and consider having someone donate it for you, or donate it yourself if someone is willing to give your a ride someplace you can.
Try and get your produce and baked goods from local sellers like farmer’s markets, country markets, etc. by asking people to shop there/take you shopping there instead.
Create what you can around your living area for local wildlife, even if it’s just leaving a bowl of water out for birds to bathe in and drink from.
Plant your own fruits/vegetables if possible.
Establish relationships with the people in your neighborhood.
Call/email your local representatives/politicians on topics you want them to vote for/against.
Do craft projects at home like making blankets or dolls or clothes that can be donated.

Deeply fucked up that this game (real life) forces you to play a crafting mini-game (cooking) every time you want to replenish your stamina bar.
You can skip the crafting game by using a pre-made consumable if you have them on hand, but high level players will constantly nag you about it and tell you that it damages your character's stats in the long run.

Fellow cripples with bad memory on top of other disabilities, y'all have any tips on how to remember things that aren't yet routine but should be? Putting things out in plane sight helps some but I still forget what I need to do more often than not. Is there anything that works/helps with this?

A narc abuse believer has reblogged from me so here's your Fucking reminder that no disorder is an abuser disorder. Your abuser(s) did/do not abuse you because they have an Abuser Disorder, they abuse(d) you because they believe(d) in their right to control you and had the means. And no, no disorder fucking creates that.
To abuse is a choice, and it's a carefully protected bolt in all the larger systems of oppression. To have a disability born out of being abused, that fucks You up, is not a fucking choice. And is certainly not a fucking protected bolt in the larger systems of oppression, rather the fucking opposite.
Yes, people with Any disorder Can choose to abuse. As well as people without that disorder! And people with that disorder are not fucking More Likely to abuse! And don't fucking armchair diagnose other people!
And the fucking case of parental abuse. You were not "raised by narcissists", you were raised by people whose literal societal role is to abuse you. Which Very Much does not absolve them. Parents are cops, and more. Read up on youth liberation and stop throwing *other survivors* into the fucking meat grinder.
And the fucking nerve to put anti-narc shit into the *npd* tags. You know well it's a Disorder, not an Abuser Personality Type that the abuser Chooses, and still demonize us.

Happy disability pride month, remember to use THIS flag and NOT the one with zigzags because it’s a seizure hazard. v

Return of Begging Bowl
Yeah I have to do these every month, sadly.  Being on SSDI means I get 1200 for two people to last between 28 and 31 days, and I am pretty much always out 10 days in... if I’m lucky.
So I have rent, pills, bills, all the things I have to do that people won’t give me even to stave off really horrible withdrawals if I do not have the paper with the dead men’s faces on it, because our society is that fucked (follow me for more random communist mother thoughts)
That said, I have the pal that pays and the app of cashmoney, the info is as follows.
paypal.me/Sephirajo
$Sephirajo
0/800, yeah it’s a lot but I don’t like starving and I need heat as I live in Minnesota and have to pay the rest of the rent....  (And we got anther major storm on the way apparently)
If you by chance have been blessed by the fairy of tax refunds (something I make too little money to qualify for, more fun disability facts!) please consider tossing something into the bowl. If you cannot, please pass it on. Old posts still have the correct contact info so I don’t mind if those are shared as well, as I always have a need for money.

happy autumn 🍁 i am a powerful asset and i will treat myself as such, Knowing what i deserve, accepting what i can gather for myself using my own abilities and working cleverly around my disabilities. not a burden, not unskilled, not tolerating low pay over my own health, not accepting or bending to any threat of dismissal over the simple circumstances of my life. charm against being stepped on, charm against those who would walk all over me. fall 🍂

Disability Achievement UNLOCKED!
I have enough different prescriptions all on different refill schedules that when I walk in to the pharmacy, I don't even have to say my name anymore. The pharmacist just leans back and says "she's back again, boys!" The pharmacist leans a hip against the counter and takes out a little white notepad and says "What'll it be, hon?" The pharmacist shouts ALLEY-OOP and throws the prescription bottle to the cashier up front who slam dunks it in my open tote bag. They don't even fax my insurance anymore, they just have a dedicated phone line always open so they can, at any moment, submit a claim for yes, she's doing, it, there she goes -- it's another prescription! The crowd goes wild.

I have to start remembering my arthritis power gloves as my tremors and hand pain gets worse and worse. They sit on my desk right next to my monitor and yet everyday they stay there. Neglected.

(I use an iPad with an Apple Pencil)
Is it possible to find some way to comfortably draw while lying down (with one's back elevated)? Or at least while sitting and leaning back?

when I told my mom about me needing mobility aids she got mad at me.
"I think I need a cane, or a crutch." I said.
she responded very angrily, "you do NOT need a crutch."
then she told me that I'm too young for a cane. but I'm not too young to suffer.
