The Claws are Out and They’re Out for Blood

Detectives, smear campaigns, death threats, FBI, allegations, and accusations. This reunion looks like it’s going to be a soap opera!

I don’t think there’s a show with thicker tension at their reunions than RHONJ and RHOBH. 

But with RHONJ, there’s the feeling that something is about to explode!

Teresa Giudice’s heart was racing as she might truly believe everything people tells her. I think she’s easily manipulated, and not only by Luis Ruelas.

For instance, after hating Jacqueline Laurita with passion for years, Teresa is suddenly believing whatever she’s telling her – just because she’s talking shit about Melissa Gorga and Joe Gorga.

Teresa is simply repeating what her fans are claiming, which makes it clear to me that she wants to hate the Gorgas and won’t listen to anything but negativity.

Andy Cohen made a good point about Teresa’s friendship with Dina Manzo.

He pointed out that they used to be all over each other’s social media posts and that has stopped.

It looks like something has happened between them, which would support Gorga’s version of event: They’ve had a falling out because of Luis.

While Teresa claimed that it was the Gorgas who was trying to hurt her and Luis, I must agree with Melissa:

There was a target on Melissa and Margaret Josephs this season, and it was revenge for season 12… for some reason.

The Gorgas are guilty of talking about Teresa’s daughters on their podcast and posting on Instagram that they’ve got hate in their hearts for Melissa.

If Melissa can be mad at Teresa for mentioning Antonia’s name in a negative way, then Teresa has the right to be upset with Melissa and Gorga talking about her daughters.

It will forever be tip for tap, and it is a lose-lose situation.

Andy put Danielle Cabral and Rachel Fuda in their place by calling their feud “the dumbest fight ever”, and I agree that enjoyed them better as friends then enemies.

But the drama behind-the-scenes has made the season irrelevant. Like Marge said, I don’t care about the Laura mess anymore.

Dragonheart (1996)

While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. This accomplishment deserves recognition. With that established...

Dragonheart may be a nostalgic darling for many, but not for me. Look beyond the beloved childhood memories and you’ll see it for what it is, a badly-written plot filled with flat characters and fantasy clichés.

After her son is critically wounded, Queen Aislinn (Julie Christie) begs a nearby dragon for help. Draco (Sean Connery) saves the boy's life by giving him half his heart. Years later, Einon (David Thewlis) has plunged the land into despair. Holding dragons responsible for the tyrant's behavior, knight Bowen (Dennis Quaid) has nearly wiped them out. When Draco and Bowen find that they have a common enemy in the ruthless king, they become determined to set the land free.

While the film had good special effects for the time, they have not aged well. That’s not a big deal when you have a top-notch screenplay. Too bad you won't find one here. Watching Dragonheart made me realize that Hollywood's determination to make dragons awesome has made them impossible to work with. Medieval drawings of dragons showed horse-sized lizards with extra eyes, too many (or too few) legs and dog-like faces. I can picture a man with a spear and armour taking that down. Take a look at the beast in this movie. Draco can fly, breathe fire, his tail can split full-grown trees with one swoop, he’s got foot-long claws on his hands and feet, a mouth big enough to swallow a man whole, can swim, is as intelligent as a human and can camouflage himself to the point of near invisibility. The thing’s a flying cataclysm! We hear his kind are regularly slain by knights, but we never see it done because the film knows how powerful Draco is. He single-handedly turns the tide in the last act when the peasants under Einon’s brutal rule finally decide to stage a revolt. If the creature had any brains, the creatures would bathe every inch of soil around them in flames, never land, and rule the world. The movie would’ve never even happened.

Dragonheart doesn’t know what it wants to be. While Draco comically goofs off, people are getting their eyeballs burned out, Dina Meyer is threatened with rape and peasants are being massacred en-masse by knights. A significant amount of the running time has Draco and Bowen learning to set aside their differences while conning entire villages out of their money. You wonder when they'll stand up to the one-dimensional Einon, who probably spends his night strangling puppies for fun. He’s every other kind of evil, so why not?

I could keep complaining about the way characters have to act a specific way for the film to end the way the  writer Charles Edward Pogue wants to, but that's a detail. What matters are the characters. They’re either over-the-top, unlikable, or stupid. Sean Connery may be memorable as Draco, but is it because of the role, or is it his voice?

While Dragonheart had its time in the spotlight and even spanned a minor franchise, the film has no staying power - and not only because of the dated special effects. (On DVD, February 11, 2018)

i've been listening to a lot of leonard cohen lately.. he literally did have such a way with words it's actually insane... my fave albums are songs from a room, songs of leonard cohen, i'm your man, and songs of love and hate. hallelujah, anthem, take this waltz, dance me to the end of love are also some songs i find relaxing..

i've also gotten back into k.d. lang recently.. always been a fan because her voice and my mum has taste but she’s just soo. well. u know... anyway my fave albums of hers to put on and zone out to are shadowland (top five albums ever to me...), drag, ingenue, and hymns of the 49th parallel (makes me sooo homesick.) not to keep talking about it all the time but her hallelujah from the 2010 olympics is the best ever like. wow woman amazing also related.. case/lang/veirs is a gorgeous folk album... ok time for this dyke to shut up

33- last adventure you went on!

hm! two weeks ago i took the bus around my city by myself to go thrifting and stuff, actually the first time i took the bus since i came to university. another one was in november when i went to vancouver to present research all by myself and then ended up going all the way to nova scotia, again by myself. highly recommend traveling by yourself whether to thrift in your city or go back to the motherland because it is actually so healing <3

17th August 1979 saw the release of the then controversial film ‘The Life of Brian’ which was directed by Colwyn Bay born director Terry Jones and featured the Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire actress Sue Jones-Davies as the character Judith Iscariot.

The film tells of the life of Brian Cohen, who was born next door on the same day as Jesus Christ, and is mistaken for as the Messiah. The film was controversial at the time, with some religious groups accusing it of being blasphemous. Thirty-nine local authorities in the UK banned the film, as did some countries, such as Ireland and Norway. However, the film makers used the notoriety to their advantage with advertising slogans such as "So funny it was banned in Norway!"

Interestingly, the ban was not lifted in Aberystwyth until 2009, when Sue Jones-Davies (who played Judith Iscariot) was elected mayor of the town.
