#did I make a cheesy power of friendship movie? probably

How do you think it’s possible that m!levens haven’t noticed that Mike didn’t mention WHAT he “loved” about El? He just claimed he did, but why? What traits draw him towards her? Looks? Humor? Common interests? Apparently not. Also why don’t they see how sexless they are together? A 15 year old dude would atleast be trying to touch something. Thighs, knees, hip, waist, accidental ass brush, hugging hard to be pressed against breasts, or even playing with her hair. Mike’s more flirty with Will!
Probably because they were too busy looking for the surface level "I love you" to prove M*lev*n as endgame more than anything else. As long as they had that, most of them were happy, no matter how cheesy, Disney-fied, and cliche the monologue sounded. For them, that sold it. Even though he had to be prompted to say it. Even though there were so many contradictions. Even though certain things went against already established canon. Those things didn't matter as long as they got the "I love you", and some of them refuse to look deeper than that surface level regardless of how off the monologue sounded. When you get something that seemingly confirms your ship, 9 times out of 10, you won't want to look deeper just in case there's something that goes against it. Those things should have been taken into account that he can't describe anything he loves about her except her powers, and by that I mean literally him going "I love you with your powers, I love you without your powers" and then immediately turning around and telling her "you can fly, you can move mountains" and calling her his superhero. But they elect to ignore that because they got the "I love you", so to them, it must be true, and they'll hang onto that no matter what.
And also, while "sexless" isn't the term I'm most comfortable with in regards to 15 year olds, you are correct, especially after the way they were in season 3, making out all the time. If anything, the relationship is 70/30 (just like Mike's flowers) where El's input into the relationship was always heads above Mike's input (just look at her Mike shrine for instance, vs. how he has nothing of her and even crumples up and throws away her love letters.. but has his basement full of Will's drawings and a giant binder full of them, too.. hm). They don't even flirt verbally, like the clearly flirty conversation that was going on between Mike and Will in Will's bedroom in season 4 episode 4 (that script, wow!). But, I would also argue that this series isn't the biggest on those aspects of physical intimacy either at least with the kids, and it gets really weird really fast when they do overdo it like with Mike and El in the beginning of season 3. I remember watching those makeout scenes the for the first time and feeling so incredibly awkward about it. I don't even have kids, but the show definitely put me in the perspective of feeling like I did and I had just walked in on them, which was probably intentional (I know @kaypeace21 made a post about it a long time ago). For reference, comparing Mike and El's relationship to Max and Lucas's, Max and Lucas's physical intimacy happens very few and far between. The only kiss we ever got between them was at the SnowBall in season 2. They've held hands a few times. But physical intimacy was never a big thing between them, and as Lucas's actor, Caleb, stated.. it's more because their relationship is based in friendship. They have things they like doing together, like going to the movies, and they have a greater understanding of each other. They actually talk, and they don't have to put up a front for each other. They don't have to pretend to be someone else to make their relationship work. Mike and El, however.. they're never themselves with each other, they don't talk, they lie to each other, they're never on the same page, they don't share common interests, and because of all this, their relationship crashes and burns every time they've tried to make it work. They just don't know each other - not their real selves. El is just now growing and maturing and becoming her own person with and without her powers, trying to stand on her own, but Mike has stayed the same at hero worship and idolization. He only tells El he loves her because he thinks that's what she wants to hear, he was prompted by Will to speak to her to save her, moved by feelings that weren't even hers but Will's, but he couldn't name anything of her personality that he loved because he doesn't know her as a person. Their whole relationship.. it's not love, it's codependency.

Making Jim’s Arc in Rott Better
-tldr: make it unbecoming 2.0
Part 1: Not Worthy
-Instead of Jim angsting over losing the amulet, let him angst over the fact he’s a weak human among friends that are way stronger than him
-Jim’s friends are making a new amulet for him, and are really supportive for Jim (because screw doubting him, they would NEVER).
-The new amulet is made with Akiridion Tech, Douxie’s and Claire’s magic, and some Creepslayerz flair thrown in. Excalibur’s gem is already in the amulet but they still are unable to pull the sword
-But that’s not the problem to Jim, he doesn’t feel that he’s worthy. They already have the power to stop the Arcane order (or so he thinks). He believes in his friends.
-Cue planning for Subway scene (basically keep the first 20 minutes of the movie, they were fun and chaotic)
- Douxie still does the body swap and when Jim wakes up he’s dejected that the plan failed and they plan a rescue mission for Douxie (because I refuse to believe they would just leave him)
-Jim: He never gave up on me, and I’ll never give up on him, or anyone of you guys
-They rescue Douxie, but Nari’s captured and Titans Rise
-Before Nari is back under the Order’s control, she tells Jim 11th Configuration Will Make it Right (because we are not ignoring Creepslayerz in this house)
Part 2: Devastation begins :)
-One by one, each of them die, and I mean every one, except Jim. (because they’re all self sacrificial kids ;--;) but also they don’t die stupidly
-I haven’t come up with proper meaningful deaths yet for everyone but some ideas
Douxie successfully gets through to Nari but dies in the process. Archie dies due to his connection with Douxie (shh let me contradict wizards. the movie does it anyways)
“No more running...”
Nari goes beserk mode when Douxie dies and pretty much dies the same way she does in the movie
Claire also dies via sacrifice for Jim. Pulls an insane dark magic stunt
Now I don’t like splitting up the gang but maybe this is where we bring that Gaylen’s core theory in. They think it would be a good weapon for the titans, but when they find it, It’s corrupted Krel, he manages to weaken bellroc, but basically become another titan. Seklos’ canon 2.0.
-Everyone keeps reassuring Jim to keep moving forward, never stop trying no matter what happens to them. But Jim tries so hard to protect his friends, yet they still die.
- Toby’s death is what breaks Jim and we get a scene paralleling the one from Unbecoming
- Jim realizes that he’s a hero, because he’ll never give up, never stop trying, amulet or no amulet, troll or not a troll.
- Cue the new Amulet awakening we get the same scene from the movie (because it SLAPS) complete with the none shall live music in the background
- Excalibur awakens and flies from the rock
- Jim faces Bellroc alone and is able to defeat them, however is devastated at the loss of his all his friends
Part 3: The 11th Configuration Will Make it Right
-The new amulet, since it was made combining Akridion Tech and Magic, as well as the joint effort of the 10 friends, is able to reset the timeline (fuck the Kronosphere)
-Jim goes to right before everyone starts dying, ready to take on Bellroc and their titan, the new amulet and Excalibur there and ready for him.
-Second climax where they defeat bellroc as a group (no one gets immediately nerfed either).
-You know what’s cool about the new amulet? Anyone in the 11th Configuration can use it. Cue badass tossing Excalibur scene to each other (This is so self indulgent I wanted this for so long. They’re all worthy don’t @ me). This battle is a bit more fun/lighthearted and we see each and every one shine (no nerfing involved)
-Jim remembers how everyone died for him, especially Toby, takes one last good look at his friends, who are having the time of their lives, and sneaks away to pull one last Tragic Jim Lake Jr SacrificeTM (I’m sorry). Toby gets the final blow on bellroc.
-Jim tells everyone it was worth it for his friends. (”I didn’t think. I became” is 10x more meaningful coming from him)
-The new amulet can no longer go back because they already made it right, no matter how much they try.
-The new amulet is Jim’s gift to them.
Epilogue: Destiny is a Gift
-bittersweet epilogue with bittersweet taco scene. Montage of all our favorite characters with Anton’s rendition of the destiny speech

Tumblr media
Tuesday, December 8th
Jake Sim lives a simple life.
He likes to think he leads the normal, stereotypical life of a teenage boy. Has decent grades, plays soccer after school, skateboards around the neighborhood, has a best friend who he’s desperately in love with, and has a stable group of friends.
Okay, maybe not so simple, because this boy would physically launch himself to the moon and drill at its surface to collect moon dust for you if you asked him to––despite his deadly fear of combusting in outer space.
But that fear doesn’t even compare to his worst one yet: not having you in his life.
And so, he decided to just repress any and all feelings he’s had for you ever since he discovered them in middle school, when he realized he hated seeing you go to the eighth grade dance with a date––that wasn’t him.
He decided that he wasn’t going to risk losing a life-long friendship over some dumb, teenage boy feelings.
They were probably powered by his testosterone anyways. Yeah, that’s totally it.
He’s totally not in love with you.
So yes, he lives a pretty normal life. Every day is the same as the last, and tomorrow will be the same as today. But he likes it like that––he doesn’t want anything to change.
Especially not now, when he finds himself content with every aspect of his life (okay maybe except for his history grade, god, does he hate history).
So, it catches him off guard when you arrive at the group’s usual lunch table, located outside in your school’s courtyard, looking as excited as ever.
Jake’s the only one at the table so far. The remaining usually showed up late––Heeseung spends his first half of lunch tutoring freshmen for community service hours (but the poor boy has no idea what he’s doing), Sunghoon is probably stuck in line in the cafeteria again (he always forgets to pack his own lunch), and Jay is...well actually, no one ever knows where Jay comes from. He’s a special one.
It catches Jake even more off guard when you skip over any greeting a normal person would give, and start speaking at one hundred words per second.
And that catches us up to the present.
“Y-You want me to what?” Jake’s stuttering as you stare at him with your hopeful eyes from across the lunch table.
Despite the expression planted on your face, which screams your excitement for your “brilliant, amazing, genius, Einstein-could-never” idea (or whatever other words you used to describe it––Jake can’t exactly recall the specific terms you used, they all came out of your mouth too fast), you don’t respond to his question of bafflement. You continue to stare at him, awaiting his response. Jake could compare the look on your face right now to a puppy looking up at its owner, eagerly waiting for a treat. You know, tongue out and all.
He swallows the lump that’s lodged in this throat (is that the sandwich he’s having, or his nerves?) and continues to give you his look of confusion laced with a nervous smile because surely, you’re joking.
You grab what’s left of your sandwich from his hands and take your own bite. Somewhere in between you arriving at the table and now, Jake’s managed to steal the sandwich you brought today. You did make the best chicken sandwiches, in his defense.
“Well? It’s only for the week! And I promise you, after one week, if nothing happens––if he doesn’t make a move or anything––I’ll move on from him like you’ve been telling me to.” Your words are muffled from you savoring your sandwich, or what’s left of it anyways. (Mental note to self: don’t share your lunch with Jake ever again.)
When Jake still doesn’t respond (you’ve truly gotten this poor boy paralyzed), you find it as a sign to continue.
“I think it’s the perfect plan. Plus, if it doesn’t work out, it’ll be like the universe is telling me to finally move on, right?”
Wrong.
Jake has been encouraging you to move on from your crush because well, if we’re being honest here, he selfishly wants you to himself. Even if it wasn’t romantically.
Preferably, he would kill to get to be the one who holds your hand in the hall, call you cheesy pet names, post disgustingly cute couple pics for the ‘gram––but for the sake of potentially ruining his relationship with you, he’ll just have to settle with the role of being your best friend.
(And he’s totally fine with that! Totally. Yup.)
But he didn’t think that you moving on would only be a mere possible outcome (that may not even happen!) from whatever this stunt is you wanna pull.
Said stunt: Pretend to date one another and hope it catches the eye of a certain someone you have your eye on: Park Sunghoon.
Ah yes, Park Sunghoon. The previously mentioned one who’s probably still in line waiting to get his lunch as we speak.
Park Sunghoon, the tall, kind, intelligent, charming young boy that everyone knows. And if anyone didn’t know him, they most definitely knew of him. He wasn’t hard to miss in the halls; everything about him just radiates perfection.
If you plucked a random high-schooler from the halls of this school and interviewed them on the Park Sunghoon, they’d say you’d be lucky enough if the quiet boy so much as sparked a conversation with you, even if it was about what last night’s chemistry homework was.
Well if that were true, then you and the rest of the boys would be considered lottery winners.
How that happened, how the four of you dysfunctional beings earned his friendship, the world may never know. However, Jake is fully convinced that this was the universe’s way of playing a cruel joke on him.
For as long as Jake could remember, it’s always been just the two of you. You and Jake. Jake and you. (With the exception of Heeseung and Jay, of course, who came along in middle school)
In fact, your earliest memory of Jake was when he peed his pants in the kindergarten during nap time. You would know, you had the privilege of sharing a sleeping mat with him that one fateful day and in result...let’s just say the smell didn’t wear off from your clothes until a week later. Five-year-old you didn’t forgive five-year-old Jake for the longest time.
And since then, you’ve been attached by the hip. And Jake liked it like that. Jake didn’t need anyone else in his life (with the exception of Leila) if he had you. He had found his home within you, and he didn’t plan on sharing his space anytime soon.
Nevertheless, the universe had a completely different idea for the two of you.
Sunghoon came into the picture last year, towards the end of the school year. Despite being the new kid, he found his way into your cherished friend group and naturally, the five of you grew as close as friends could be.
That was the problem. Jake wanted to hate Sunghoon, to despise him for being the one that you had heart eyes for, but he couldn’t.
Not only was Sunghoon one of Jake’s closest friends, but he didn’t want to ruin the dynamic of the friend group. After you, the three chaotic boys were the next most important people in Jake’s life.
And so, we have the typical love triangle plot that every coming-of-age movie follows. Of course, this is all unbeknownst to you––you may be intelligent and a people-person, but oh boy can you not see the heart eyes your very own best friend has for you.
“It’ll be easier than you think, really! Look, we can even set boundaries or rules or whatever,” you propose, as if you’re trying to get him to sign a contract.
Rules to a fake relationship? We’re not living in a Netflix romcom, are we?
“Okay rule number 1: it’ll only be for a week and a week only, rule number 2: we don’t have to do anything too couple-ly like...” you pause to wonder for a second.
“Like PDA or anything! You know, unless we really need to convince him,” you casually add. When he responds with radio silence and stares at you with absolute concern painted all over his face, you cough. “Jake, I’m joking.”
Right. Of course. Obviously.
“And of course, just try not to fall in love with me, it’ll be hard, I know,” you send a playful wink his way.
Too late. Turns out it’s not that hard. Jake would know.
Jake continues to stare at you in hesitation. Yeah, you’ve had your fair share of crazy ideas (that Jake always find himself agreeing to––the poor boy just can’t seem to say no to you), but fake dating you?
Jake is sure he wouldn’t be able to pull it off without slowly destroying himself. He’d just have to say no, he’s sure you can find someone else to do it for you.
Yes, that’s it, just say no.
Jake has to keep some of his pride in tact.
Tumblr media
Jake does not say no.
He doesn’t know what went wrong. His mind said one thing, but his words said another.
To be fair, Jake’s actions have always been influenced by his heart, not his brain, anyways. And when it comes to you, you bet it’ll be coming from his heart.
So here he was now, under the stare of three equally shocked and confused guys across from you and him at the lunch table, your fingers intertwined with his.
Just a few seconds ago, you had spotted the rest of the lunch bunch approaching the table, and you quickly grabbed Jake’s hand and scooted in closer to him.
Now here you were, explaining to your friends of your sudden relationship.
Jake is too zoned out to even physically pick up your explanation. Something along the lines of "we’ve been dating for a while but didn’t want to tell you guys yet." From the feeling of your hand clutched tightly into his and your body right up next to him, his mind was short-circuiting.
How is he supposed to last an entire week of this if he couldn't handle innocent hand holding? Hand holding? God, what are we, back in the fifth grade?
Two minutes into this scheme and Jake's mind has already downgraded itself to a fifth grader's.
Jake mentally scolds himself for giving in, this was not a good idea.
Tumblr media
It takes Jake approximately 12 hours to conclude that this stunt of yours may, actually, be a good idea. He knows this because approximately 12 hours after the events surrounding lunch, he receives a text from you:
y/n [12:03AM]: thanks again for doing this for me jake
y/n [12:03AM]: ur actually the best
y/n [12:04AM]: ew ok that was cheesy but really i owe u a big one <333
Following your thread of texts is a really close up photo of you widely smiling into the camera. A smile so big, Jake’s convinced your face was probably in pain after taking that picture.
Anyone else might’ve thought the photo looked borderline insane but because Jake’s Jake, aka a simpᵗᵐ for you, he comes to the conclusion that it’s singlehandedly the cutest thing he’s ever seen in the entire world.
After quickly saving the selfie into his phone, Jake tells himself that maybe this won’t be a bad thing after all. I mean, anything that makes you smile like that meant it has to be a good idea, right?
Spoken like a true simp.
Plus, dating you––fake dating you––is pretty much the same as it was before. He already spends most of his days with you to begin with. Now, it’s just with added displays of affection. For show, obviously. Obviously.
And look, if Jake will never get to actually be with you, then he’ll take what he can get. And if that meant fake dating you, well, he reasons that it’s better than nothing at all.
Tumblr media
Wednesday, December 9th
Jake’s playing with the rings on your right hand and you’re in the middle of dramatically telling the lunch table about the infuriating Karen you had to deal with at work the other day when Jay comes up with a grin you all know a little too well.
“Okay that grin means one of two things: you finally grew the balls to ask out that poor girl you’ve been teasing all year or you have something planned that we won’t like,” you interrupt your story when you catch Jay’s sly expression, evoking a chuckle from Jake, who’s now found a new distraction with the bracelets perches on your wrist.
“Excuse you, I’ll have you know that I did ask her out. It just so happens that she’s currently ‘in between boyfriends’ whatever that means. Ouch, by the way,” Jay feigns hurt from your comment by clutching the area above his heart through his shirt. Ever the drama queen. “But yes, I do have something planned. And no, it’s not a bad idea.”
Jay squeezes his way in between Sunghoon and Heeseung from across you and begins to pull out his own lunch. Everyone’s eyes follow him as he settles in because as bad as his unknown idea may be, you’re all still curious on what this boy has to say.
“Well are you going to elaborate or...” Heeseung speaks up for everyone after you all mentally debate one another through darting eyes on who’s going to have to bite Jay’s silent bait.
Jay then forcefully sets both hands on his table, which elicits a little jump from you as you go for a bite of your sandwich. Adorable, Jake tells himself.
“My parents are out of town this weekend. We all know what that means...”
Yes. We do know what that means. The four of you have seen this scenario play out many times, a little too many times for your own good.
This meant one of Jay’s infamous house parties that he always throws whenever his parents go out of town. And because his parents are hot-shot CEOs of an important company whose name you don’t remember (it’s nothing personal, your brain can only handle so much information and this physics exam you were studying for took up 90% of your brain capacity at the moment), they’re out of town often.
And along with Jay’s parties comes chaos. Lots of it. And that’s because...well, it’s safe to say that despite the many school-wide presentations the police officers of your school have held in the auditorium on why you shouldn’t drink underage, Jay’s parents’ liquor cabinet always seems to find itself missing many a few bottles after each party. But we don’t talk about that. Shush.
Almost simultaneously, everyone at the table lets out a groan, much to Jay’s disappointment.
“C’mon guys! It’s been a while since anything’s fun happened to this school, think of all the sad students in that building right now,” he extends a finger whole-ass arm and points at your school, “who are in dire need of fun and a little...” he punctuates his sentence with the hand motion of chugging down a drink, followed with a gulping sound elicited from his tongue clicking.
You roll your eyes along with everyone else. Don’t be like Jay, kids. Listen to those police officers.
“Jay, it’s midterm season! I have an exam on Monday and I definitely do not want to spend the nights before wasted,” you give him an apologetic look. As crazy as Jay is, you do feel bad nonetheless. The boy just wants to have fun.
Your response is followed up with similar comments from around the table.
“I’m helping y/n study”
“I have an important skating performance on Sunday”
“Uh...my hamster died?” (ok Heeseung panicked, don’t blame the guy)
Ignoring that last excuse of an excuse, Jay continues his debate nonetheless. “Just come for the sake of it! No one’s saying you have to get wasted. Pleaseeee for me?”
Jay throws these parties so often, you’re not sure why he’s so set on making sure you’re all going to be there. Well, I guess who wouldn’t want their closest friends to be at their own party?
That and, Jay needs to make sure his friends are there to stop him from doing anything stupid. We all know this boy has had enough embarrassing moments to last him a lifetime.
Everyone at the table gives each other the same hesitant look. Heeseung is the first to give in, “Oh fuck it. Sure, count me in.”
Jay’s fist pumping the air before turning to Sunghoon with the most hopeful eyes.
Sunghoon simply sighs in return. “Alright okay, I’ll bite. But if you vomit on my shoes again, I’m out the door.” Jay’s finger is automatically drawing a cross over his heart as a promise to not ruin Sunghoon’s Nikes again.
He then looks to you with puppy eyes.
You, who's already staring back at Jay with a stoic look in your eyes, are stubborn and (unlike the previous weaklings) are not as easy to convince. And somehow, this began an unannounced staring contest between the two of you, a contest to see who would budge first. This isn't an uncommon occurrence between you and Jay, but the rest of the boys are still on the edges of their seats watching this duel.
Jake casually wraps an arm around your shoulder and you’re brought in close, but still undeterred from your death-stare match with the boy across from you.
If it’s not obvious enough, Jake’s really gotten into his role of being your boyfriend, despite it only being 24 hours since he last froze at your touch. Character development, you’ll give him that.
You almost forget he’s faking it for a quick second. And for an even quicker second, you imagine he wasn’t faking it. And you swear you feel butterflies in your stomach at that thought.
Weird.
You mentally shake the thought out of your head. Priorities first, aka, beating Jay in this staring contest.
“Fuck,” you stutter when you finally blink, admitting defeat to a grinning Jay. “Okay, okay, I’ll THINK about it. I’ll let you know.”
Not exactly the answer Jay was looking for, but he’ll take it. Better than a no.
He turns to Jake next, knowing there’s no way Jake will turn down a party. Just like Jay, the boy loves himself a good party.
But–
But because Jake would take your physics exam this Monday for you if you asked, because Jake would bungee jump in the Grand Canyon without a safety net below him if you asked, because Jake would fake date you to make your crush jealous for you if you asked, he doesn’t hesitate in his answer this time around: “Same as y/n, I’ll let you know.”
Jay looks at Jake. Then back at you, who he’s still clinging onto like a koala to a tree. Then back at Jake. “You two are gross. Admittedly cute. But gross.”
You look up at the boy next to you to see him already grinning at you.
For the first time today, you find yourself agreeing with Jay.
Admittedly cute.
Tumblr media
Thursday, December 10th
You are having a bad day.
You’re having the mother of bad days.
Not only is it midterm season, but you still have all your regular weekly assignments to finish before Friday hits. So as a natural-born procrastinator does, you stayed up all last night trying to get a good amount of work done because what’s better than cramming all your work the night before it’s due? Doing it two nights before it’s due.
Well apparently it wasn’t such a good idea. Because now, here you were, frantically throwing on whatever articles of clothing you find nearest to you because you slept through all your alarms.
You’re lucky enough to make it through your school’s doors right as the second bell rings, even if you did look like you just walked straight out of a zombie apocalypse.
You’re not so lucky when you find out your first class of the day, calculus, had a pop quiz. A pop quiz on the only unit you just happened to know absolutely nothing about.
To top things off, you forgot to pack your lunch during this morning’s frenzy, meaning you’re automatically stuck sharing with Jake.
And because his mother started making him pack his own food out of a lesson of responsibility (she said something along the lines of: “Jake, you’re about to be in college and you don’t know how to pack a decent meal”), he only has a plain PB&J sandwich and a pack of Scooby-Doo gummies in his bag today (because newsflash, he still doesn’t know how to pack a decent meal).
Not that you could care less at the moment, you were too preoccupied with catching up on your assignments to even eat. And if any of the boys noticed your zombie-like state during lunch, they did a good job of not mentioning it. They knew better than to bother an irritated y/n.
Somehow, you make it through the entire school day and your after-school meeting for environmental club (save the trees!) in one piece. As you finally walk out of the school building, you exhale, automatically feeling lighter. At least the hard part of your day was done.
Now you just had to wait for Jake to finish soccer practice, which usually ended around the same time as your club, and he can drive you home, where you can continue being irritated with your day in the privacy of your own space.
You wait on the steps of the school’s entrance, waiting for a smiley Jake to come around the corner as he usually does at 5:30pm every Thursdays.
Yes, a smiling Jake is exactly what you needed to make your day ten times better, you conclude.
As if on cue, you hear a ding from your phone.
Jake [5:30PM]: ugh coach is extending practice for “team bonding”
Jake [5:30PM]: idek what team bonding is
Jake [5:31PM]: you ok if i cant drive you today? ://
It’s as if the universe decided to use you as its punching bag today.
You physically let out a distorted groan, not caring if anyone who happened to hear you thought you were a creature from out of this world, as you send him a text back.
y/n [5:32PM]: it’s all good lol have fun with tEaM bOnDiNg
Things were not all good. But no matter how upset you may be, you weren’t going to project your negative vibes onto Jake’s naturally positive ones. So you get up from the stone steps and begin your dreaded walk back home.
It’s freezing out. You should’ve known better to just throw on a hoodie and call it a day when it’s the middle of December. But then again, you figured by now you’d be in the comfort and warmth of Jake’s car and presence...not walking home in these freezing temperatures.
You think about Jake and how he’s probably currently suffering from not only his team bonding exercises (but really though, what are team bonding exercises?), but doing them in this weather as well. The poor boy.
You’re quickly broken out of your thoughts by the sound of a car engine from behind you. When you don’t see it pass by you and instead hear it pull over and park next to the curb of the sidewalk you’re currently on, you automatically deduce that this is it, this is my time, I’m about to get kidnapped by whoever it is behind me but y/n, you should probably turn around and check first before you drive yourself insane in this inner dialogue.
You turn around and squint into the front window of the car. If it were a kidnapper, this is exactly what your mother told you not to do. Her exact words were: “Run, don’t look back, and scream bloody murder.”
Good thing it wasn’t. Just an innocent Sunghoon waving his hand at you, motioning you to get in.
“Sunghoon?” You approach his car and stop at the passenger side’s open window.
“y/n! It’s freezing out, I’ll drive you home c’mon,” he nods his head towards the passenger side door.
Well, how could you say no? Sunghoon owns a nice car. Like a nice car. Like car-seat-heaters-that-make-you-feel-like-you’re-physically-melting nice. Beats getting hypothermia outside, right?
“Why are you going home from school so late?” You ask as you settle into his car, instantly melting at the touch of the aforementioned heated seats.
“Debate club, actually. Decided I needed another personality trait other than ice skating,” he starts the engine and begins driving towards the direction of your neighborhood.
You laugh at his comment, you didn’t peg him as a debate kind of student. Quiet Sunghoon? Debate club? If 2 plus 2 is four...
“Hey, I don’t call you the Ice Prince for nothing! Also, don’t forget your other personality trait: forgetting your lunch every day.”
Sunghoon quickly glances over at you to send you a dirty look (because eyes on the road, kids!), which you return with a cheeky grin. “Need I remind you that was you today?”
“Touché,” you click your tongue.
The two of you fall into a comfortable silence, the faint sound of Sunghoon's music in the background filling in the quietness.
You’re humming along until Sunghoon breaks the silence, “Did Jake get stuck at practice again?”
You don’t know why, but you swear you feel your heart beat faster at the mention of Jake’s name. No, that was always there right? Because you were with Sunghoon...your crush..obviously. Obviously.
Ignoring the feeling, you turn your attention towards the boy driving you.
“Oh yeah, something about team bonding. How’d you know?”
“Eh, I just figured since he wasn’t driving you home like he always does.” He turns into your neighborhood.
You nod at his answer.
“You two make a good couple.”
You whip your head at him. Did you hear him correctly?
“It was about time, really. You two have been ogling at one another for so long, Heeseung, Jay, and I almost placed bets on who would be the first to make a move.”
He keeps his eyes on the road, casually going on about how you and Jake make the cutest couple he’s ever seen.
You're frozen, unsure of what to think, let alone say.
You think to two days ago, when you started this entire fake relationship because of the very boy driving you home right now. The same boy who's complimenting you on your fake relationship. The same boy who's supposed to be jealous over that said relationship. The same boy you’re supposed to be crushing over.
But now...only a mere 48 hours later, you were finding yourself okay with the fact that he was happy for you. And for the life of you, you couldn’t remember why you liked Sunghoon in the first place. Not saying he isn’t one to be crushed on, I mean, look at the guy.
Maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with the fact that you didn't feel nervous or giddy or..anything at all when you got into the car with Sunghoon. At least, not until Jake's name was mentioned. That's when you felt the butterflies. At the mention of Jake.
Jake.
Weird.
But before you can come to a conclusion on why you're feeling the way you do, Sunghoon interrupts your thoughts.
"Well, we're here! Say hi to your parents for me," he pulls into your driveway as you're still collecting your thoughts.
You give him a quick thanks and one last wave as you enter the front doors of your house.
Seeing that your only solution towards confusing feelings meant distracting yourself, distract yourself you did.
Even if it meant distracting yourself with your piling assignments.

The next time you look up from your work, it's suddenly way past sundown and a heavy storm has taken over. You’re surprised it hasn’t started flooding yet with the amount of rainfall you were hearing.
You check the time on your phone, the bright 8:16PM on the screen illuminating your dimly lit room. Seeing that neither of your parents have yet to be home from work, it looks like you were going to have to settle with some instant ramen for dinner tonight.
As you trudge down the stairs of your home, the sound of light knocking against the front door catches your attention. It's been a long day y/n, you're probably hearing things, it's definitely just the rain.
Nope. There it is again, but much louder. Much more urgent.
You contemplate any and all potential disasters that could happen from answering the door. Only a crazy person would be willing to go out in this hurricane-like weather to be frantically knocking on your door.
And so, you assume it has to be some psychopath trying to get into your house. Yes, there’s definitely no other logical explanation.
You scramble around your living room, looking for the next best weapon to defend you. Resorting to the flower vase your mother keeps on the table next to the front door, you hold it out in front of you, as if you're waiting for the door to burst open.
The knocking continues, gradually getting louder. You mentally curse at yourself for dropping out of the taekwondo class your dad signed you up for when you were younger.
Vase in hand, you swing open the door and brace for–
"Jake? What the fuck? Get in here, you're gonna get sick!"
You’re suddenly aware of how stupid you look, holding a light pink vase with a couple of orchids as your only form of self-defense...for it to only be your own best friend. You immediately put it back on the table as Jake quickly rushes past you and into your humble abode.
You close the door behind you and turn to face the soaked boy.
“I come bearing gifts, also known as take-out and hot chocolate from that one cafe you love. Also my company, if you’ll take it. I had a feeling you weren’t having the best day today,” he’s simply standing there, holding up a large brown paper bag in one hand, and a deliciously smelling cup of hot chocolate in the other, but you’re looking at him as if he bought you the Moon.
You stare in awe at the angel of a boy in front of you, silently thanking the stars for gifting you this amazing human being as your best friend. You don’t know what you did to deserve him.
You give him a soft smile. “Jake, you didn’t have to. It’s practically a shitstorm out there,” you cock your head towards the window, showcasing the downpour of cats and dogs outside. Jake stays by the entrance as you go down the hall and through your house’s linen closet to find a spare towel for the drenched boy.
“Nah it’s no big deal, really. Just fulfilling my duties as your loyal boyfriend,” he grins, even though you can’t see him. He likes calling himself that. Your boyfriend.
Jake continues to shake his messy hair to get the excess rain off, giving a mental apology to whoever is going to have to mop up the puddle forming on the floor due to his unannounced visit. Probably you.
Jake hears you laugh down the hall. “You’re really invested in your role, huh? Keep this up and you might actually trick me into believing you’re my actual boyfriend.”
Actual boyfriend? Jake likes the sound of that. Maybe he will keep this up then.
Jake doesn’t have much experience in acting, unless you count that time he played the role of Town Villager #3 in the third grade play, so he never found it as one of his interests. But playing the role of your boyfriend was one he was willing to fulfill for the rest of life, even if it was just for show.
Jake doesn’t respond to your comment, he’s instead self-aware of his blushing cheeks, thankful that you’re too busy rummaging through your linen closet to take notice.
“Plus, you didn’t have lunch today and I had feeling you were going to be too caught up in your work to feed yourself anything other than instant ramen,” he sets down his gifts to you on your living room’s coffee table as you come around the corner, fresh towel and new set of clothes in hand.
His eyes fall on the familiar looking pair of sweatpants and hoodie resting on the palms of your hands.
Hm. A little too familiar.
Then, it clicks in his head.
His eyes narrow at you as you giggle at his reaction, “Oh, so it takes me getting drenched in the rain for you to finally return my clothes that I’ve been missing!?”
“Hey! I’m not returning them, simply loaning them out to a friend who’s in dire need. You basically gifted them to me the second you left them here months ago.”
“You’re annoying.”
“Love you too,” you toss the clothes at him and take a seat on the floor around your coffee table, prepping the table with the boxes of Chinese food Jake supplied.
After Jake changes into the stolen dry clothes, he takes a seat next to an already-eating you at the coffee table.
“You. are. my lord and savior Sim Jaeyun,” you’re saying with your mouth full of fried rice. You sigh from satisfaction and rest your head against Jake’s shoulder as you continue chewing. He grins as he helps himself to his own serving of fried rice and orange chicken.
You look up at him from your spot, “How was team bonding today?”
Jake groans in response, clearly annoyed. “Stupid. I don’t get how doing trust falls and pyramid building is going to get us any closer. If anything, I almost FELL off that pyramid today!”
You don’t know why, but you find yourself admiring him and his soft features as he continues to rant about one of his teammates, specifically, the one who almost dropped him.
The way his messy hair, unkept from the rain ruining it, almost covers his eyes (but you tell yourself you like it this way, it looks more natural on him), the way the corners of his lips are always perked upwards (even when he’s ranting), the way his eyes sparkle whenever he’s truly passionate about whatever he’s talking about, the way his eyes look at you like–
“Stare much? Look, I get you can’t resist my good looks but at least be subtle about it,” he smirks at you as he takes another spoon of rice.
You break out of his trance and scoff at him.
“You’re cute when you rant,” you nonchalantly say as you move from your spot to mirror his actions and add more rice to your plate as well.  Jake’s stills at your sudden comment, unsure of how to respond. Lucky for him, you’re distracted by the mountain of food on your plate to even notice the blushing mess of a boy next to you.
“You know, you’re lucky you’re cute. Or else I’d deck you right here and now for ditching me after school today.”
Anddd there goes the moment. Leave it to you to follow up a compliment with a threat of violence.
Jake finds it cute anyways. He always finds you cute.
Jake narrows his eyes and lightly shoves you before an apology is written all over his face. “Sorry about that by the way. I feel awful about making you walk home when it was freezing out.”
“Nah, it’s okay. Sunghoon gave me a ride, actually. Did you know he does debate? I guess you learn something new everyday,” you ramble, unaware of the boy next to you getting tense at the sudden mention of the other’s name.
Up until now, Jake’s completely forgotten about Sunghoon's involvement in this entire scheme. In fact, the past 48 hours with you have felt so normal, so comfortable, he almost forgot about the deal in the first place.   “You think he has any clue?” Jake suddenly asks, referring to the plan.
You immediately know what he’s referring to, as Jake practically worded out your very own thoughts.
You shrug. “Not a single one. We’re practically William and Kate in his eyes. But honestly, that’s the least of my worries right now. I’m too distracted by my exams right now to care.”
Jake feels guilty for being satisfied with your answer. He’s 100% sure that if convincing Sunghoon took you two an entire lifetime of fake dating, he’d be all too willing to do it.
“Go to Jay’s party with me tomorrow,” he abruptly says, catching your attention as your mouth is stuffed. Cute.
He pokes your cheek. “It’ll get your mind off of work and plus, what’s more convincing than showing up to a party with your amazing boyfriend?” he wiggles his eyebrows at you. Jake doesn’t know where he gets his sudden surge of confidence. But he does know he loves calling himself your boyfriend...even if it’s for the time being.
Rolling your eyes and swatting his poking fingers away from your face, you ponder on his suggestion.
“You mean my annoying boyfriend,” you stick your tongue out at him. Jake takes a mental picture and hopes it never leaves his mind.
“But I guess you could be right. Maybe I can clear my head for the night before I study my ass off all weekend.”

Friday, December 11th
The party does not clear your mind.
If anything, it gives you enough headaches to last you at least until the end of high-school.
You come to this revelation as you and Jake approach Jay’s home, a luxurious mansion sitting at the end of a cul-de-sac, lined with similarly luxurious palaces, located in an equally luxurious neighborhood.
You come to this revelation when you can already feel the pounding bass of music as you walk up Jay’s driveway.
You come to this revelation when, not even two seconds after entering Jay’s front doors––
“You’re here!” A buzzed Jay shouts at the two of you, causing the both of you to contemplate your past choices that brought you here today. Jay definitely isn’t straight up drunk yet, but Jake still makes a mental note to keep an eye on him tonight. Just in case.
The blonde-haired boy is quick to hand over two red solo cups of god knows what, to which you and Jake immediately put down on the nearest table after Jay walks away to greet the next incoming guests (you know, to not hurt his feelings).
You and Jake are lucky enough to have been around Jay and his parties long enough to know that going all out at these parties will not be pretty the next morning.
You cringe at the memory of last year, when you had to suffer from possibly the worst hangover of all hangovers after one of Jay’s parties. Jake will never let you forget how miserable you looked the next morning. His camera roll’s album titled “y/n blackmail pics” can vouch for that.
“Remind me again to never listen to you,” you almost have to shout at Jake over the thumping music. Jake laughs at your comment and tugs at your hand as he begins entering the house.
The two of you do your rounds of greetings to the people you know...and random underclassmen who you swear you have never seen before but somehow made it to this party. You’ve always questioned how Jay’s invite list worked. Maybe there isn’t one. That would explain how it looked like someone announced Jay was giving out free Teslas and the entire school got hold of the news.
“Thank god you guys are here,” you hear a voice come from behind the two of you as you guys leave the main room to enter the house’s smaller, but just as luxurious looking, den. You turn to see Heeseung with Sunghoon following closely behind, trying his best not to get swept away in the crowd of people.
The den is where you usually stayed during these parties. It’s not like there are rules of where people are allowed to party, by any means, but it’s like how a high-school’s cafeteria worked. There’s a mutual silent agreement of where everyone goes, and the den is where the party host and his friends went.
“Okay, is it just me, or is tonight’s party just a little...too..much?” Sunghoon asks as the four of you take your seats on the main couch of the room. Jake’s quick to make space for you next to him as you go to sit, but to his surprise, you find your home right on his lap.
“You said be convincing right?” you say into his ear as you settle yourself. Right. That’s totally why. Because you had to go along with the ruse. Obviously.
You shift a bit so you’re more facing sideways, not blocking off Jake’s line of vision as the boy himself is..well, calling him a rag doll might be excessive.
But he’s sure he looks like one right now, having lost all senses in his limbs, leaving him frozen underneath you.
Jake Sim is the epitome of politeness. He was raised in a family that taught him how to respectfully greet others, how to always offer food to others before eating it himself, how to properly treat a significant other. As a result, Jake grew up to be one of the sweetest, kindest, purest people to ever walk this earth.
(Relatively speaking, the earth is large, but so is Jake’s heart.)
But human-beings aren’t perfect, they must have a balance. A balance of pros and cons.
Sure, he can’t pack his own lunch and sometimes forgets to water the little succulent you gifted him that’s currently seated on his window sill. Sure, sometimes he’s too sweet for his own good, you know, like willing-to-be-your-fake-boyfriend too sweet. But aside from the minor details, Jake Sim doesn’t have many cons, no.
But he sure can be awkward.
And so because Jake Sim is sweet, kind, pure, and awkward, he is unsure of what to do with himself when you’re seated right on top of him.
As if you could read his befuddled mind, you take his arm that’s resting behind you to wrap around your waist as your support as you throw one of your arms around his shoulder. And throughout this entire adjustment, his widened eyes are staring right at you.
Bless this pure, pure boy.
Also bless the position you’re in, blocking the two other boys from directly seeing Jake’s face. Because if they were to catch glimpse of Jake’s expression right now, your cover might be blown, just like that. You’re lucky Heeseung and Sunghoon are distracted by another classmate who came up to them.
“Relax,” you sweetly laugh, cupping his chin with your free hand and lightly squeezing his cheeks. “You’re so adorably awkward.”
Jake pouts at you. “I am not awkward!”
“Right, and I’m totally dating you for real,” you playfully whisper at him, eliciting a poke at your waist in response.
Twenty minutes of people-watching-aka-“who do you think is gonna pass out first?”-from-your-spot-on-the-couch later, the four of you draw your attention to the rowdy party host you all have the honor of calling your friend––aka Jay––dancing (that is, if you call wildly swinging your limbs in all four directions dancing) in the middle of the den.
"Oh god, look at him," Sunghoon voices from besides you.
Heeseung's already filming the moment on his phone. Ah yes, technology. The best thing to ever happen to drunk teens' friends.
"He's so wasted," you throw your head back as you let out a laugh. “We should help the kid out.”
Poor Jay. He's not gonna hear the end of it after tonight.
"I don't know why he thinks these parties are such a good idea when he knows how trashed he's gonna be when he wakes up," Jake says, his hand naturally squeezing your waist as you giggle at his comment. "And how trashed the house will be."
Jay slumbers over to where the four of you are seated, and abruptly stops right in front of the couch.
"My best friends!" Jay happily cheers. “Having fun?”
“Watching you? Always,” you say to the boy who’s squeezing into a seat between you and Sunghoon, as if the small couch wasn’t already suffocating enough (and that’s with you on Jake’s lap).
“But for real though, you should probably lay off the drinks for now,” Heeseung insists. “For all our sakes.”
Sunghoon nods along and grabs the cup Jay’s currently nursing and sets it down where it’s out of Jay’s reach, much to his dismay. But the disappointment quickly leaves the dazed boy’s head, as his attention is now directed towards you and Jake.
“Well if it isn’t mom and dad,” Jay turns to face you and Jake, certainly amused by your seating arrangement.
“You know–” Jay points a finger at the two of you. “For a couple that’s certainly close, I haven’t seen you two kiss.”
Jake is immediately coughing, certainly not expecting that to come out of his friend’s mouth.
“Okay and your point is?” Jake frowns at Jay. If Jay wasn’t tipsy, Jake would’ve smacked the back of his head by now.
“I’m just saying...” the blonde responds, both hands up in the air as if Jake is accusing him of something, when in was, in fact, the opposite. “But nevermind, Jakey boy here is probably too innocent for such nonsense anyways.”
Yes, it’s confirmed. Once Jay sobers up tomorrow, Jake is driving over to his house (even though it’s a good ten minute drive from his own) just to smack him.
“What do you mean I’m too–”
Jake doesn’t finish his sentence. In fact, Jake doesn’t even remember what he was going to say.
Jake doesn’t think nor feel anything else other than your lips planted on his.
You’re pulling him in close, your hands cupping his face as his own are twitching on your waist, his mind flustered. You move your hands from his face to his neck, to which Jake immediately relaxes at.
Sure, you two are in the middle of a dumb high-school party, one filled with pounding music and shouting teenagers, but right now, in this moment, Jake can only feel you. And he doesn’t want the feeling to ever stop.
When you part, Jake’s eyes flicker from your eyes to your lips, his own parted in shock. He thinks he might pass out right here and now. He thinks his heart might explode right here and now. He thinks he might lov-
“Happy?” you turn to a satisfied Jay, ignoring the looks of amusement from Heesung and Sunghoon besides him.
“Well,” you pat Jake’s leg as you get up from your spot. “I’m gonna get us some drinks. Punch only, of course.”
Jake’s eyes are on you as you walk away, his face tinted pink from the adrenaline of it all, his heart racing.
Jake thinks back to three days ago, when he told himself that this idea of yours was going to be all fine. After all, it was only going to be for one week. Afterwards, he can move on with his life as if nothing happened.
But fast forward 72 hours later, 72 hours after you and Jake started this act, 72 hours after Jake told himself it’ll be all fine, Jake knows he was poorly mistaken.
Because 72 hours later, in the middle of a party that reeked of the combined smell of alcohol and sweat, Jake knows one thing and one thing for sure.
He never wants to move on from the feeling of being with you. He never wants to move on from this.
From you.
He’s screwed.
Tumblr media
Saturday, December 12th
When Jake wakes up, much later than he intended to, on Saturday morning, the first sensation he feels are his tingling lips, still in disbelief that they graced your own last night.
The second sensation being his pounding mind––it’s running through ten million thoughts at a time, telling him no last night wasn’t a dream.
Third: his heart beating so fast at the thought of you, he thinks he might beat out of his chest.
And fourth, a buzzing noise.
Jake blindly flounders his arm to the table beside him in hopes of finding the origin of the annoying sound, aka, his phone.
After knocking down multiple miscellaneous items on his nightstand (he makes a mental note to clean his room later), he successfully retrieves the item of search.
Jake squints at the bright screen, mind still cloudy from a mix of 1) being half-asleep, and 2) still processing what happened the night before.
y/n [11:10AM]: r u awake yet?
y/n [11:22AM]: imma take that as a no
y/n [11:35AM]: lemme know when ur up
jake [11:44AM]: just woke up sorry
jake [11:44AM]: are you okay? what’s up
y/n [11:45AM]: r u busy?
y/n [11:45AM]: kinda wanted to talk abt smth
jake [11:45AM]: uh well no im still in bed lmao
y/n [11:46AM]: cool im outside your door
Jake’s eyes widen as he processes your last few texts.
Talk? Outside his door?
Jake’s heart is nervously pounding as jumps out of bed and quickly puts on the first plaid flannel he finds. He scrambles to his mirror and gives his reflection a quick run-down.
He’s sporting your his favorite hoodie underneath the flannel that’s long overdue a wash and his tousled hair has seen better days, but he couldn't care less.
Before his mind can catch up to his actions, he’s rushing down the stairs, skipping two at a time and to this front door. Because he didn’t want to keep you waiting? Because he was too excited to see you? Maybe a mix of both. Definitely more of the latter, however.
He quickly runs a hand through his hair to try to fix it up as much as he can, to no avail, before opening the door to reveal you, sitting on the steps of his front porch.
“y/n,” he’s breathing heavily as you turn to greet him with your sweet smile he didn’t even realize he was missing. Is it possible to miss someone overnight? Jake concludes yes, it definitely is.
“Did you run down here or something?,” you question his out-of-breath state, a teasing tone laces the tip of your tongue.
“Or something,” Jake mutters as he closes the front door behind him to join you on the steps when you make no sign of moving. “Have you been out here all morning?”
“Not allll morning. I had a feeling you’d sleep in so I came around the time I first texted you. Would’ve knocked but didn’t wanna bother your family,” you hum, keeping your eyes trained on the peaceful scenery around you.
You’ve always loved Jake’s neighborhood, it brought you a sense of peace, a sense of home.
Or was that because it reminded you of Jake?
“You could never be a bother,” he quickly rebuttals as he takes his seat next to you on the steps.
You respond with a soft smile before turning your attention back to anything other than the boy next to you. Your mind seems to be lost in its own thoughts, Jake can tell by the distant look in your eyes.
The sound of birds chirping in the distance fills the silence that falls between the two of you.
Any other day, Jake would love this. He savors every second he’s with you, even if it’s just pure silence.
But this silence was different. It wasn’t the usual comforting, warm silence that the two of you share on a typical day. This one held tension, tension so thick that Jake doesn’t know where to begin thinking.
But here’s the thing. Jake doesn’t think.
Not when it comes to you.
He takes a deep breath. Rubs his hands together. Pats them on his lap. Turns towards you.
“Look, I-”
“I think I might like you.” The words come out of your mouth so fast, Jake’s positive he heard you wrong the first time around.
He whips his head to meet your eyes, your own already staring back at him, your bottom lip nervously tucked under your teeth.
“No, I––I do. I know I do. I’m sorry. I didn’t know how to tell you and I don’t think I’m doing a very good job right now,” the words are all of the sudden tumbling out of your mouth as if your brain flipped a switch and isn’t able to turn it off. “In hindsight, I should’ve known better to fake date my own best friend. But these past few days made me realize how much I love being with you. And not like how I’m always with you 24/7 before this entire thing started, but being with you. I even started getting that weird, bubbly feeling in my stomach every time I so much as heard your name. And then last night at the party, I realized afterwards that I wouldn’t have kissed you if some part of me didn’t see you in that way. Even if it meant Jay would’ve been on our asses all night if I didn’t. So yeah.”
You finish with a deep breath and look up at him to meet his widened eyes. Silence.
Jake thought he was braindead during last week’s history quiz. Jake thought he was braindead when he had to cram a semester’s worth of chemistry content the night before his exam. Heck, Jake thought he was braindead when you first told him about your idea of a fake dating him. But no, this is braindead.
He’s finally hearing what he’s been dreaming of for so long, and of all times, now his brain decides to shut off.
“Are you..uh..are you gonna say anything?” You’re nervously fumbling with your hands, desperate to distract yourself with anything else apart from his silent stare.
"Why are you sorry?" Jake says before his mind can think of anything else. He doesn't pay attention to his thumping heart that's one look-from-you away from exploding right then and there. "You didn't do anything wrong. If anything, you took the words right out of my mouth.”
Now you're staring at him with the wide eyes, the words processing in your mind.
Jake realizes he's waited too long to do this. A few years too long. He also realizes he shouldn't have put on that extra layer of a flannel. The nervous tension created by the two of you was suffocating enough, and being outside under the bright sun didn’t help.
"I like you too. God y/n, I like you too so much," Jake doesn't even care if his words are all sorts of messed up right now. He just needs you to get the idea. "I have for a while now.”
You let out a relieved sigh, ecstasy rushing through your blood. “Really? I think I have for a while too. I’m so stupid, it took me so long to realize it. It didn’t hit me until I realized how I felt around you, compared to the guy I’m supposed to actually have a crush on.”
Jake lets out a laugh, the tension immediately dissolving. “Hey, if it wasn’t for Sunghoon, I don’t think we’d be here right now.”
“You’re right, I’m too oblivious and you’re too awkward to actually make a move,” you wink at him. If his heart wasn’t fluttering at the sight of you, on his porch on a Saturday morning, confessing your feelings to him, Jake probably would’ve lightly shoved you away.
Instead, he’s turning to you with the most endeared look on his face, and you’re blushing underneath his gaze.
“What? Stare much?” You giggle, quoting the boy himself as you shyly duck your head to avoid his stare.
Jake gently grabs your chin to tilt your face towards his, and before you can process what’s happening, he suddenly meets your lips with his own, closing the gap between you two.
Jake thinks if the ground underneath him right now decided to open up and swallow him whole, he’d die happily.
Jake smiles against you, feeling comfort in ways he’ll never be able to achieve without you.
Your hands instinctively find their way into his hair, as one of his rests below your ear, thumb softly caressing your cheek, the other pulling you in by the waist. He’s naturally leaning into you, gravitating towards your warmth, unable to stop the giddy feeling bubbling in his stomach.
He doesn’t think the feeling will ever go away.
When you pull away to catch your breath, you rest your head against the nook of his neck, basking in his presence as his arms both find their way around your waist. You sigh in pleasure.
“Remember at the beginning of all of this, when you told me ‘Just try not to fall in love with me?’” Jake gently says. Jake feels the slight nod you give against his shoulder as you hum in response.
Jake whispers two more words into your ear, filling you with happiness and warmth you know you won’t be able to find through anyone––or anything––else.
“Too late.”

fluff alphabet: levi ackerman
Tumblr media
↯ pairing: levi ackerman x (fem) reader
↯ genres and warnings: modern au, fluff…. obviously, no real warnings i don’t think, oh spoilers for his ova?
↯ word count: 3k lol don’t ask me how
↯ notes: i was going to take requests for this for valentine’s day, but i figured i’d just do them all in one post lolol. i feel like i haven’t posted for levi in a while, so here we go
Tumblr media
Activities — What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
If you ask Levi to do something, there’s a good chance he’ll try it at least once for you. Unless it’s something he’s said he explicitly dislikes or doesn’t want to partake in, he’d gladly try it out with you.
He strikes me as the kind of person to like trying new restaurants. Not necessarily the trendy or popular or exclusive ones; but local places with good recommendations or reviews.
Down for late night drives, but you have to be the one driving. He’ll drive if you become too tired, but he prefers to sit in the passenger seat and just let you take him wherever. He doesn’t mind, and it’s a sign he trusts you.
I also think museum dates would be some thing he enjoys. Not history museums—I feel like the concept of stolen artifacts on display would piss him off more than anything lol—but art museums. That’s not to say he’s extremely into art, but I think something about a museum environment is somewhat calming to him. He doesn’t mind.
One more activity I would say suits him is watching movies or shows together. Levi’s the kind of guy that catches you watching a series and expresses how it looks stupid or boring at first, but still hovers around and backseat watches it anyway. After a while, he just gives up and starts actively watching it with you and becomes invested. He just won’t admit it.
Beauty — What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
In the least cheesy way possible, everything. Levi sees people, and his s/o in particular, as a whole person, rather than the sum of their parts. He understands that everything about you—physical, emotional, or otherwise—contributes to the person he loves. There’s something to appreciate about all of it at different times.
He’d probably admire and/or find little habits you have beautiful in some way or another. Probably things you might not even notice about yourself unless he pointed them out to you.
Personality wise, he’d admire it if his s/o were blunt and/or the kind of person to stick up for themselves or their friends. A little bit assertive; not going out of your way to make other people feel small or be rude, but simply refusing to shrink to make room for others.
Physically, again, I don’t think he has a preference for most anything, but if I had to pick, I’d say he’s a thigh/ass guy.
Comfort — How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack, etc.?
Levi is observant, so he would be able to tell when you’re struggling perhaps before you’re ready to realize it yourself, and long before you’re about to burst.
However, he would ask you how he can help. For as observant as he is, he’s also not a mind reader, and if there’s something specific he can get you, he would want to know, even if it’s seemingly small or superficial.
He would be pretty proactive about it, too. The second he figures out how he can help, he’s on it. You need a new desk to work from home? He’ll have it built by that weekend. You’re feeling overwhelmed and behind on your tasks? He’s already doing the ones he can do without your help.
He does his best to try and help you relax if the issue is a stressor, and if he could, he would eradicate the root of the stress from your life completely. Unfortunately, in the real world, that’s not always possible, but it’s nice to know that he’s willing.
The other obvious answer is tea, but allow me to expand it more generally to food. Going along with the theme of acts of service being his love language, Levi would try to provide the basic necessities for you in order to allow to focus on solving your problems and/or feeling better. If not worrying about dinner is one thing that can help you, Levi’s happy to cook for you.
Dreams — How do they picture their future with their s/o?
Simple, but fulfilled. Levi just wants to be happy—to have someone to care for, and to have someone who will care for him.
Truthfully, I don’t think he’d mind children later down the road, and I think he would be a good parent. It might not be something he talks about outright at first, but as time progresses, and perhaps the timing becomes right, it’d be something he would want to consider.
Equal — Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
It’s equal. Levi doesn’t want to have more power, nor does he want to be passive. However, there are things he doesn’t mind handing over to you, and conversely, responsibilities he doesn’t mind taking on himself.
Compromise would be a big part in the relationship—not for the sake of compromising on your dreams or ambitions, but rather, to reach a middle ground if there’s any kind of argument.
I think it’s a give and take with him. And I don’t think he would want it to be any other way. He doesn’t strike me as someone who’s on either polar end.
Fight — Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
When you do fight, it’s a lot of pointed frustration. He doesn’t raise his voice, but he can get snippy, and a little closed off—speaking in clipped sentences, using underhanded phrases, focusing on past points. What drives him crazy is the aftermath of the fight, and if you give him the silent treatment, he’s bound to crack much sooner than later.
He’s quite easy to forgive. Canonically, he doesn’t like to fight with his friends or the people he cares about, and he would rather reach a solution as quickly as possible.
We saw that with Isabel and Farlan, despite the way he was firm on his decision for them to stay behind, they were able to break his resolve pretty quickly. He cares a lot about the people in his life, and I don’t think he’d like to go long with a riff between him and you. Especially if he thinks he might regret not talking to you about it sooner.
He’s one to keep a promise, but not to hold a grudge. That is to say, he understands that forgiveness goes both ways, and to work in a healthy relationship, both parties have to forgive themselves and each other at some point.
Gratitude — How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
Yes and no. It might take a minute for Levi to understand the depth of your actions—especially the ones that appear more mundane or are not as explicitly romantic.
Once he does, he is very aware of them, and as such, if very grateful. He didn’t every really think he’d be able to create and be apart of the kind of loving relationship the two of you have. He really cherishes it.
Honesty — Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
He has secrets by way of omission. He doesn’t lie to keep things hidden from you, but sometimes he doesn’t tell everything about himself, especially towards the start of your relationship.
It’s not always with malicious or even self-protective intent. He just doesn’t share because he doesn’t think it’s important, or that you might care. If you pry long enough or insist that you want to know just to know and because you care, then he’s happy to share.
As previously mentioned, it might take him a while to realize just how much you care about him, and his past and interests by extension.
Inspiration — Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
As your relationship progresses Levi comes to learn that you genuinely find him attractive not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically. That you actually want to know him and that he’s worth knowing.
So, his biggest change is in the way he approaches his thoughts about himself and his self worth. But he also begins to pick up on your habits, your interests, and tries to understand your general approach to life, too.
He would probably change you in some ways, too. Most notably in the way you organize and clean your space, probably. He’s not sorry about it.
Jealousy — Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
No, he doesn’t. To him, jealously would imply that someone has something he wants. Firstly, you’re not an object to him, and secondly, he has you. There’s nothing more to it.
He’s not childish, nor is he out of check with his emotions, so he wouldn’t lash out on you, especially if it’s not your fault. In his small momentary slips, you wouldn’t even have noticed he was jealous at all.
He wouldn’t like it if someone was repeatedly making advances on you, especially if you’ve explicitly told them off/they were making you uncomfortable. In situations like that, he would simply try to get the both of you out of there/away from the person as quickly as possible.
There’s also an element of trust to this with Levi. He wouldn’t expect you to try and make him jealous out of spite; and he would trust that you wouldn’t play on the advances of other people if you notice them.
Kiss — Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
He is a good kisser. Mainly because he’s very perceptive to what you want and how to give it you.
The first kiss was sweet. Knowing Levi, there was probably quite the build up to it, so even if it was sweet and innocent, there was a layer of tension and a crash of emotions coming forward in the moment. It was memorable, to say the least.
Love Confession — How would they confess to their s/o?
I have imagined this time and time again… and I think it really depends on the foundation of your relationship/friendship with him before.
In the most generic scenario, it would probably be a little backwards—you would have, intentionally or not, gone on some dates before he realized what his feelings really were, and then take it from there.
If you were friends for a while before hand, it can probably go the implicit dating route—that is you’re both exclusively emotionally invested in each other, and basically involved in most relationship aspects without having realized it or put a label on it. You kind of naturally morph into a relationship, and it probably takes a verbal confession or kiss or two to solidify it.
It can also go the sexual tension route, and one day one of you finally snaps and makes a move. The verbal confession would come in the aftermath, but your actions will have solidified and expressed your feelings long before that.
Marriage — Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
Again, yes and no. Without taking into account the legal aspects, the actual concept of marriage is that juxtaposition of sweet and powerful that Levi likes; the idea of devoting yourself to someone and receiving a special kind of love for the rest of your life.
And while all of that is beautiful to him, there are the unfortunate cultural norms or marriage, especially in a modern au. The legality of it all, especially the financial defaults, would be a headache. Not to mention all the fluff and grandeur and gender expectations about it. He thinks all of that fucking sucks.
Above all, he doesn’t get why people expect him to pay for what’s basically an expensive document that tells the federal government he lives with you and loves you. He could do that without them in his business.
If you want to get married, then the proposal is sweet. Intimate, and probably a call back to something in your relationship, or a significant date/event for the both of you. He wouldn’t dare do it in public or even involve anybody else, other than maybe asking a friend or two.
Marriage with Levi is much like being in a long-term relationship with him. The way he acts in marriage isn’t exponentially different than the way he had been acting as your boyfriend. It’s all still very quiet, very sweet, very domestic.
Nicknames — What do they call their s/o?
He calls you by your name, unless you ask him to call you by something else. He might call you by an actual nickname, that is a shortened version of your name, if that’s the name you usually go by.
He’s not big on pet names and they slip out from time to time, but not in place of your actual name on an every day basis. If anything, he calls your name with a very unique tone to his voice. He rarely calls for anybody else with the same tone and/or emotion.
On Cloud Nine — What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
It’s not… not obvious to his friends, but he doesn’t look like he’s been shot by cupids arrow or anything. If you know Levi, you might pick up on the fact that he seems a bit happier, less stressed, has taken up new hobbies/habits, etc. But there’s not he’s not shitting rainbows and sunshine all of a sudden.
Love is very personal and intimate for him. He would do his best to express to you that he loves you and loves the love he receives from you, but he doesn’t feel that everyone else needs to know.
So, it’s somehow simultaneously noticeable and unnoticeable when you’re together in the presence of other people.
PDA — Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss when others are watching?
Levi isn’t big on PDA. He’s not hiding your relationship, but he doesn’t care to boast it to every person he meets, either. If somebody asks him, he’ll happily say that he’s in a relationship, but he doesn’t bring it forward himself.
He’s not hiding it or shy, but he doesn’t feel the need to be all over you in public. He doesn’t anything to prove to anybody. Besides, nobody wants to see that shit. He knows he wouldn’t.
There are some displays of affection, though. Hand holding isn’t abnormal, though likely not in a casual space with your friends or family. He’ll brush is hand along your arm when he’s walking past you, might ruffle your hair if the occasion calls for it, squeeze your thigh under the table.
Quirk — Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
He’s canonically good at math. This comes in handy when you’re at restaurants and trying to calculate a tip quickly. Somehow, he knows how to figure out 18% of your bill in 3 seconds flat.
It also comes in handy when you’re trying to organize things. Along with math comes a pretty good understanding of spatial reasoning. Somehow Levi is always able to put away your left overs using the smallest and least amount of tupperware possible. It’s kind of ridiculous, he might be a wizard.
Romance — How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
In the traditional sense, he might not appear romantic, but he’s the kind of person to say or do or gift little things that would take a much deeper romantic understanding of his partner than some grand, generic act like buying a thousand roses.
His romance is tailored to you and your relationship, not general expectations of what it means to be “romantic.”
Support — Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
Levi is very devoted to you, so if you ask for his help, or he can help without stepping on your toes, he will. He wants you to not only succeed, but feel fulfilled through your achievements, and he’s happy to help you get there.
He believes in you wholeheartedly. If it’s something you really want, Levi wouldn’t dare doubt that you could achieve it.
Thrill — Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
He doesn’t feel the need to try out new things based on expectations, but if you want to try something, or if he wants to try something, you can have a conversation about it, and eventually try it out.
There’s a sort of established routine in a domestic sense; a sharing of a mutual space and the behaviors associated with that. But there’s not, like, established date nights or “week-a-versaries.”
In that sense, he can be pretty spontaneous; bringing up new places to go or activities to try when the idea strikes him. But I suppose it’s never something… too adventurous? Not dangerous, at least lololol, he’s not going to randomly suggest you go skydiving as a bonding exercise.
Understanding — How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
Very well. Levi kind of makes you his business—in the most non-intrusive way possible. He’s perceptive and picks up on things about you with relative ease, and genuine interest.
He can predict how you might respond in a situation with pretty good accuracy, can guess what you might pick off the menu at a new restaurant, if given a choice has a good sense of which option you’ll choose. Very much a “I knew you would say that/do that, I don’t know why I even asked,” kind of person once he gets to know you.
He can be pretty empathetic, and I think he would be in a relationship.
Value — How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?
Your relationship is pretty damn important to Levi, and he devotes a significant amount of time and attention to it. Not in the place of giving time for himself, his friends, family or interests; but he is very much devoted to you.
However, he’s not the type to give up solid opportunities (ex: financial, for his family/mom, career-wise) for the sake of a relationship, especially if he’s not in the position to do so; and he wouldn’t want you to give up exceptional opportunities that align with your goals for him either.
Everything is relative in that sense, I suppose. He cares for you, deeply, and knows that you do, too. That, contrary to popular belief, is what enables you both to be strong enough to bend and not break.
Wild Card — A random fluff head canon.
I’ll give you a few :)
If you want him to, Levi will do your hair for you, and he’s pretty fucking good at it, too; hair type or texture be damned, he’ll take his time with it, and do it well for you.
When he’s alone, Levi hums himself to sleep. Usually singing/humming his mother’s favorite songs and/or songs he remembers hearing as a child.
He always gives you the lighter bags when you take your groceries upstairs/into your house. He doesn’t tell you, but he knows you don’t like to ‘make’ him do all the work.
He always makes dinner if he gets home before you.
He’s a pretty good artist, and has even drawn you once. He’s never told you or shown you, but he keeps the picture folded up in his wallet. Or behind his phone case.
XOXO — Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
Affectionate in private, yes. He doesn’t mind it if you’re all over him, and truthfully, has his moments where he’s shamelessly all over you, too. Especially in the morning, he’s a cuddle bug.
Kisses are always good, he would never oppose them. He’s quite easy to persuade with kisses, actually. And most physical touches; he doesn’t get them often, so he kind of melts when he does.
Cuddles, too. Again, all of this is private and in the comfort of your own home. His favorite way to cuddle is to either have you completely on top of him, or to lay his head in your lap. Because he loves the feeling of you playing with his hair.
Yearning — How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?
Levi will take part in things you like or things you’ve claimed in your shared space.
For example, he might find himself eating your favorite foods more often, sitting on the spot on the couch your sit in most often, rolling over to your side of the bed in his sleep.
He also likes to look back on pictures of the two of you. He doesn’t particularly like to be photographed, but he likes having these physical memories of your relationship, so he’ll indulge you when you want to take a picture together. And they come in real handy during times like this.
Zeal — Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?
Levi will definitely put up a fight for you, so long as it’s mutual. He wouldn’t pour his effort into someone or a relationship in which he feels like he’s not receiving the same.
I’m not sure what great lengths there would be to go to in a modern au, but he definitely believes that relationships are hard work, and as such, is prepared to put in the work when things get hard. He’s not a quitter, and he knows that love is foundation and requires time and energy.
He cares about you too much to let you go without reason.

the sonic movie was really freaking good! i loved it so much! i really like how the movies are following some of the games plots which is really nice, and shadow? i fucking predicted that. I went to go see the movie with my brother (i got the tickets as a birthday gift for him since hes always been the real video game nerd and i just became one all the sudden and he wanted to see it like i did) and i was talking to him at the end of the movie (were the cool video game graphic credits were) and i was like “man i wonder if there’s gonna be a 3rd one. there probably is and it’s gonna have shadow and probably amy” and bomb at the end holy shit!! they’re really setting up a big movie franchise and i think it’s one of the best things to come out of sonic for a while. it was a lot better than the first movie. and im so glad they didn’t make knuckles the idiot like he always is in media nowadays (looking at you sonic boom). the fight scenes were awesome and the animation was good. Also i love how they are a family now with thomas and maddie and they see him as a son!! adorable!! they have so many kids now. the power of friendship ending is always cheesy but this was a really good cheesy. it was so cute. and those scenes with tails and sonic at the resturant? that was so cuteeeeee. OHHHH I LOVE ALL THE NICE REFERENCES, THE ONE WITH TAILS REAL NAME WAS AWESOME ILOVED IT. oh and when shadow came on screen i fangirled hard and when it happened i heard the guy in front of me chuckle a bit. like a fond one. idk i just thought it was sweet. aahhhhhh i can’t wait for the next movie. man i know the mario movie most likely isn’t gonna be as good as the sonic movie but i can hope. also, the people behind this movie clearly have a lot of love for the sonic franchise and i for one am really happy that they have a lot of passion for it.

(AHS: CULT) WINTER ANDERSON X FEMALE!READER & PLATONIC!RUDY/VINCENT ANDERSON X FEMALE!READER
summary: headcanons for dating & being in a relationship with winter anderson whilst being best friends with rudy/vincent anderson.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is totally self indulgent i am so sorry.
when you met winter, you were walking home from work alone.
you hadn’t wanted to bother your best friend/roommate as he works long hours.
it was dark & you were kinda wary of waking around on your own.
especially when people started cat calling.
you were feeling really uncomfortable until an incredibly striking woman appeared seemingly out of nowhere, swearing & yelling at the cat callers.
she introduced herself to you as winter anderson & offered to walk you home.
you were still wary of letting a stranger walk you home & knew that your best friend would absolutely freak, so you decide to let her walk with you to your friends office.
you talked to her during the walk & admired her unique beauty.
in fact you were sad when you’d reached your friend’s office as it meant that you would have to say goodbye to her.
however, when you did that, she gave you her number.
“I’m free all day tomorrow. If you want to meet me here, we could go & get a drink together or something?”
you accepted her offer & thanked her for walking with you.
winter only left when she saw you enter the building safely.
you gave her a little awkward wave before setting off to find rudy.
you were excited to see her again.
your best friend is dr. rudy vincent.
wlw & mlm solidarity.
you just randomly met him one day & despite him being a bit older then you, you have been friends ever since.
he is practically family to you.
if you have family, he goes with you to visit them for the various holidays.
if you don’t, you have your own traditions together in the apartment you share with him.
you don’t see each other during the day.
he’s at work before you get up & you’ve both gotten in the habit of communicating via notes left stuck on cupboard doors.
you leave each other packed lunches or the wrapped up leftovers from the previous nights meal.
you spend time together when he gets home.
you’ll both settle on the couch & talk about your respective days before ending up watching either a show or a movie.
he always covers you with a blanket in case you fall asleep.
it’s very rare that you fight with him.
you do get pretty annoyed with him when he’s attempted to ‘shrink’ you over the years though.
however, if there is anything wrong you know that you can tell him anything.
if you’re anxious or feeling like everything’s falling apart, he is there to help.
other than providing you with the most comforting hugs, there is this thing you two do together that he taught you very early on in your friendship.
you would link your pinky finger around his & you could tell him anything & everything that was bothering you.
rudy has always been there for you.
when you met winter the very next day, she had noticed you hugging a (probably) taller man in the distance.
“is that your boyfriend, y/n?”
“god, no!” you had looked horrified at the very thought & she had smirked.
“good to know.”
you spent the day together in a cosy cafe.
it was absolutely your first date with her & it was an enjoyable one.
you sat close together on leather couch drinking various beverages & sharing sweet treats throughout the day.
winter is incredibly fun to talk to, you really like her & she definitely takes a shine to you.
she’d rest her hand on your arm or boldly play with your hair (if long enough)
it was a successful first date of many more to come.
you go on so many dates with winter.
enjoying her company.
she kisses you after the third date, which was when you’d actually let her walk you to your home.
her kisses are passionate.
she’ll stroke your cheek with her fingers & kiss you senseless.
you find yourself falling for her quickly.
“I think i love her.”
“It’s only been a month y/n.” rudy had teased you when you had gushed about winter to him.
something you did a lot.
“irrelevant!”
you enjoy long walks with winter & she’ll hold your hand so tightly.
sometimes lifting it & pressing kisses to it here & there.
you love her nails, the colours & designs she choose for them are so beautiful & she’s more than happy to paint yours for you if you want.
“you make it look so easy.”
“i have mastered nail art, y/n.” she’d chuckle as she probably painted your nails to match hers.
you go various protests with her & share similar political views.
keeping each other safe during protests.
winter would fight anyone that would dare touch you.
she doesn’t talk much about her family.
you know that she lives with her brother & that she hasn’t seen the other in a while.
you’ve never met either of her brothers’.
you’ve never even gone to her house & for good reason.
you trust her when she tells you that her brother is someone you don’t want to get caught up with & how she doesn’t want him to know about you.
honestly you just assume that he has to be incredibly homophobic & leave it at that.
which is why she’ll almost always spend the day at your house if you’re not doing something outside together.
she likes it when you do her hair for her & you enjoy styling her long white waves.
you love her outfits & the two of you compliment each other daily.
“you are so beautiful, y/n.” she will tell you after usually greeting you with a kiss.
if you’re sitting together, you’ll play with her hair or her jewellery.
sometimes she’ll share her jewellery with you.
she loves seeing you in one of her long gothic necklaces.
“now i can keep a part of you close to my heart for the day.”
“my god, y/n you are so cheesy.”
winter can actually be incredibly affectionate & protective.
she wants to keep you safe.
she is almost always initiating physical contact.
if she’s not holding your hand, she’s sitting next to you with her arm around your waist.
you call each other pet names.
she is very passionate in every meaning of the word.
which is exactly how you’d almost ended up having sex with winter on the roof of rudy’s car & actually hid in a bush from your best friend when he came out of his office to check on his car.
she likes it when you curl up in her arms & rest your head on her chest.
it was during one of those times that she told you that she loved you for the first time.
she says it a lot after that.
if she is ever said, you will gather her up into toy arms & just hold her for hours.
never letting her go.
when your sad, she’ll press loving kisses to your forehead & hold you close whilst whispering countless reassurances to you & that she loves you.
she made you laugh when she taught you pinky power.
“come on, baby, this is serious.” she had pressed a kiss to your hand.
“I know, i know. it’s just that me & my best friend do something really similar together.”
when the election happens & incidents start to happen in the town, you’re a little freaked out.
but your worries are eased by the separate, but combined efforts from rudy & winter, who becomes even more protective of you than ever before.
it’s a very loving relationship that you have with winter & she would do absolutely anything for you.
a/n: i am actually sorry that i wrote this garbage. i just really love winter anderson & i hadn’t slept in over twenty four hours.

Top Ten Favorite Book Series
And here’s another Top Ten in my series! This one is about book series that I have read in the past, or have been reading over time. Of course, these can change over time, but I know all of these will be very important to me. So, here they are, in no particular order!
1. Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
Tumblr media
I loved this series since I first discovered them. I know not a lot of people like them, or at least aspects of them, and I do understand some problems with them. But I had found the first two books when I had moved in with my boyfriend at the time, and I fell absolutely in love with them. The last book came out when during my last year in college and I didn’t complete any homework for like a week. I love these books because of the important themes she had written, and there were a few scenes that made me cry, especially in the last book. I loved the friendships and complicated characters she created.
2. Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
Tumblr media
Again, I found this series around the time I had discovered Throne of Glass. But they were all out already, and I actually met Leigh at a book event for the last book. I loved this series more so for the darkness of its tone, and the Darkling is my favorite fictional villain, hands down. But I remember being so amazed while reading this trilogy because I had discovered I could write dark, dark stuff if I wanted, and it fed that part of me.
3. Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray
Tumblr media
I read this trilogy in high school, and I remember loving it so much. So I recently did a reread and I loved it just as much. I liked the tone, the characters, the settings and the magic. It has always been that stuck out to me, and I’m so glad I had found it when I did.
4. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
Tumblr media
This series had changed my life, honest to god. Surprising to most, I hadn’t been a big reader growing up. I read some stuff (most Narnia, Spiderwick, Alice in Wonderland, etc), and I could never find the kinds of books I had always wanted to read. I was a sophomore in high school when I was looking through my local small bookstore, and I saw the cover of a young man in Victorian attire (my favorite time period forever!), and I remember reading the back and I was instantly intrigued. And I fell in love with it. Not only did it spark my reading as a teenager, helping me find the genres and stories I liked, but it had been with me through important times. When I had been through an awful depression that led to an attempted suicide my junior year, I was reading this series. I remember reading the second book that year in my yearbook class, and I read through class, which annoyed one of my guy friends that I sat with. When I finished the last book in the hidden classroom behind a class I was a tutor for, I cried. I sobbed as I read the epilogue, and I remember just staring at the wall for the rest of that time. This series broke and remade me, and I think it has huge influence on me personally.
5. Sands of Arawiya duology by Hafsah Faizal
Tumblr media
I just read this series a couple of months ago, and my god, did I love it. I loved the world, the characters, the deep, meaningful friendships. This one surprised me in so many ways, and I didn’t want to stop reading it. I loved it so, so much and it’s important to my heart.
6. Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard
Tumblr media
I see mix reviews on this series, especially the later books. But I personally loved them. I loved the adventure and magic system and my god did I love the twists. Maven Calore is probably one of the most interesting characters I have ever read. I loved how complicated and destructive it was, and the war tactics and plots were great.
7. An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir
Tumblr media
My god, Sabaa knows how to make really, really complicated situations for characters. Talk about torturing your own characters. And I think that was what I learned from these books, as a writer myself. She made strong, powerful characters and threw them through hell, to see where they came out. But I loved the way they wrapped up, the arcs of the characters, the beauty of their closeness. It’s just a beautiful series.
8. Lady Sherlock series by Sherry Thomas
Tumblr media
This is just a fun series. It combines some of my favorite things—women detectives, Victorian England, mysteries, and Sherlock Holmes. But I love that Sherlock Holmes is actually a woman. They’re great books that put twists on the original books and I adore so much about them.
9. Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco
Tumblr media
What a great series! I loved these more with each book. I love Audrey Rose and Thomas Cresswell, as lovers and as partners, so much. But they are both intriguing in their own ways. And I adored how Kerri used different historical/pop culture aspects in her books—Jack the Ripper, Dracula, Houdini, and the Devil in the White City. They are great mysteries with loveable characters and I love it so much.
10. Well Met series by Jen DeLuca
Tumblr media
Now, I love this series for just dumb (but personal) reasons. First of all, I haven’t found many romance books that I like. I find most of them too silly and cheesy. But I didn’t have that case with these. I found them hilarious and fun and heartwarming. But second of all, they’re set a Renaissance Faire! We have a Renaissance Faire that comes every year about thirty-forty minutes away from where I live, and I have been going every year (you know, except for last year and probably this year) for thirteen or fourteen years. It’s important to me, and it marks time for me. So, that’s why I love these.
Runner Up: Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters
Tumblr media
This is a wonderful series. It spoke to my love of mysteries, but also Egyptology (I almost went to school for archaeology/Egyptology!). I love that Elizabeth Peters was an archaeologist, that gives a real-life feel to these as well. Plus, like you know me, Victorian period! I think Amelia Peabody is one of the greatest female leads, and I think the romance/love between her and Emerson. It totally reminds me of Evie and Rick in The Mummy, so if you love those movies, check out these books. I haven’t finished the series yet, but I think I’ve gotten halfway through, and I love them so much.
I love all these books, way too much probably. They all have a special place in my heart and yeah... I love them. I’ve said that so much haven’t I?

Random relationship (and just general stuff) headcanons for the ADA squad!!
Atsushi Nakajima 🐯
Soft boi
Smells like strawberries and vanilla
Don't question me on this, he just does
Also probably adores eating strawberries and vanilla, alongside ice cream and anything sweet really, but like, in moderation (it's gotta be a soft food tho)
He also likes fruits and veggies
A healthy boi
His ideal date would be sightseeing, just walking around town with his s/o and admiring the scenery
Would try to be really cheesy and say something like "you're prettier than any location we've been to" but he'd get too embarrassed halfway through so it would just come out as a stammering mess
He's adorable tho, you love him
When sleeping, if you sleep in one bed, he'd legit be like a big cat (no pun intended)
He'd be so warm, and his arms would be wrapped around you in a soft embrace
Prone to having nightmares so please comfort him
Ozamu Dazai 💀
The literal opposite of a soft boi
What I mean by this is that he's a straight up f-boy
Don't @ me, it's official; he's left every woman he's ever been with crying
But don't worry, once he gets attached to you, he'd be all giddy and happy whenever you even exist around him
My dude adores coffee (+ alcohol!)
Doesn't really eat much (please force him to eat more) but he's a sucker for sweets (I feel like he'd be really picky tho, like "no this brand of chocolate is absolute garbage I only eat the finest *insert niche brand literally no one has EVER heard of*"
We love him for it
He'd also really be into salty snacks, anything that has a crunch to it really
Did I mention that he smells like washed out Cologne mixed with his natural scent (+ the most recent way he tried to commit not-living)
His ideal date would be a coffee-date
He knows it's not much but that's where he feels the most relaxed and happy, so he wants you to experience that with him as well
Unlike Atsushi, this boy can FLIRT
Expect a cheesy remark every few seconds
It comes to the point where it's actually kinda annoying
Once you start firing it back at him (it's gotta be something sincere tho) he'd be flustered and kinda flabbergasted
Is also prone to nightmares, but don't expect to see this side of him unless he REALLY really trusts you
Kunikida Doppo 📚
Stoic boi
Idk how to explain this but I feel like the 🗿 emoji really represents him
Also he smells the most normal out of everyone ㅡ literally just some kinda nice perfume and neutral, washed out shampoo (by neutral I mean that you can't really identify what it is, but it's nice)
I feel like he'd be warm
Like not to Atsushi's level, but he'd be a good heat provider if it ever gets windy or rainy
Not to mention how comforting his hugs are, although, extremely awkward (he's so inexperienced with them Lord help him)
Also a sucker for coffee but that's because it's the only thing keeping him sane (and awake, Kunikida go to bed challenge)
He's a really good cook
Like it surprises you how many dishes he actually knows how to make, given how much time his work occupies
He's also more like your dad (or even mom tbh) than your boyfriend, because he's always nagging cuz of some idealistic criteria you failed to meet (ie. "cLeAn YoUr RoOm")
That's why his preference for dates are dates that don't even feel like them
It's literally just everyday activities
Going shopping together? Sure, he's down, gotta get it done anyway and it's nice to have company. You want him to teach you how to make a certain dish? Geez, finally, it's about time you start doing that yourself. You wanna join on a mission? That's a bit too dangerous, but you can meet him afterwards
Like do you get what I'm saying
It's so obvious you two have a thing for each other but he's just so damn dense and yet somehow gets super flustered at the same time
Compliment him on something he's insecure about and he'll be a mess for like 10 whole minutes (by this I mean he genuinely won't be able to utter a word)
Akiko Yosano 🦋
She listens to girl in red
Okay maybe not, but she definitely stans Dreamcatcher
I'll stop you get the point
Her favorite LOONA solo is Heart Attack
(That was the last one I swear)
But fr tho, she looks and acts scary but she's a whole sweetheart
Kind of cold but it's okay you can warm her up (melts if you do that)
Really scared of letting people get too close to her, but if you keep insisting and being nice to her she'll have to accept your love
ALSO fond of coffee (seriously what's with these people) and a mediocre cook (she's trying ok)
Will always be down to try and make something with you, whatever the dish may be
Smells like oranges and roses (not mixed, obvi on different days it's a different vibe)
Also sometimes has a lingering aftertaste of blood due to her job at the ADA and you're kinda just like 😶 about it because?? Do you tell her?? Does she know?? What do you do???
Pain.png
Hint: you should definitely tell her tho
SHE FINALLY HAS A CONSISTENT SHOPPING BUDDY
Although she doesn't force you to carry everything around like she forces everyone else to, because you're special ✨
That would also be your assumption on what her favorite date is, but she can actually be pretty romantic!
Don't expect anything grandeur tho, it's just a fancy dinner date at a restaurant
Poor bb has been planning and saving up for this for months now so please appreciate it
She sleeps like a rock
She's just straight, like a soldier
Oh the irony
But I feel like if you were to hug her she'd instantly melt into your embrace
Is ALSO prone to nightmares (seriously what's with these people) but she doesn't wanna bother you with them
Edogawa Ranpo 👓
Praise him
Please
He has a praise kink
So please praise him
He's surprisingly soft
Maybe it's all the sweets he eats, but he's both soft to hug and soft personality wise
Oh yeah did I mention he emits an aura of candy
Like he walks into the room and you don't even have to look to know that it's him, cuz it'll just smell like sweets all of a sudden
Speaking of, he really adores them
To the point where you'll have to force him to eat something healthy from time to time as well, I mean, seriously, that much sugar CANNOT be good for you
If you give him some homemade baked goods (ei. cupcakes, brownies, cake, ect.) listen he will LITERALLY lose it
You're his angel now
No not even that, you're a GODDESS/GOD to him
(Yes he's that dramatic)
He likes taking you to see detective movies with him where he figures out the killer in the first 3 minutes
Also he gets lost so gosh darn easily; never ever let him out of your sight or he'll just be gone forever
Other than that, he lets you organize and plan the dates, cuz he thinks you could do a way better job at being romantic than he ever could
He's really okay with anything you wanna do ㅡ he's just happy to be with you
(Just don't take him to someplace where he can't eat candy)
Force him to eat spicy food and he's breaking up with you nckdndjc
When sleeping together, he's sprawled out across the mattress
In many ways he's just a big teddy bear, you can climb on top of him and sleep there and he'll just be chill with it
These next few ⬇ are only friendship hcs bc a sis doesn't wanna go to jail
Kenji Miyazawa 🐄
Baby boy, baby
Listen I can't explain it but he smells like grass and that fresh air country smell
Like you just know he does
LOVES getting head-pats
Loves giving them too!!
He's so confused when it comes to city stuff, so he'd much rather chill with you somewhere on a grass field
Expect to play a lot of tag and hide n seek with him!! It'll be extra fun if he drags Kyouka and Atsushi with him as well
Sometimes he'll randomly drop a country fact that seems so obscure to you (think; that one time he mentioned they just throw criminals off a cliff) and you'll just stare at him like; 👁 👄 👁
He loves to eat
Literally anything
"I love cows but I love eating them too"
He mentioned before that he shouldn't eat a lot cuz he has no power when full but you can't just??let him starve??
Give him an apple and water and he'll be fine
Introduce him to arcades and he'll get hooked in a matter of seconds
Kyouka Izumi 🌺
baby girl, baby
Loves to go sightseeing like Atsushi
Kind of stoic in the beginning but as she slowly warms up to you she'll be smiling all the time
Brings out Demon Snow to protect you if a leaf falls a little too threateningly
Cdndjdj no but fr ㅡ she never really had friends that accepted her and wanted to spend time with her so she really doesn't want anything to happen to you
You have to remind her that she's just a kid; she should be allowed to relax and enjoy the moment for a bit
Smells like flowers and death
The death part of it fades away with time
Spends a lot of time with Atsushi!! Meaning you will spend a lot of time with Atsushi as well
If you don't like him I'm sorry but you two just can't be friends
She has no idea what counts as friend activities and what doesn't so expect her to either: a) not propose anything, or b) propose totally obscure stuff
But if something cute catches her attention she'll make an attempt to guide you to it
Like if she thinks you two should eat ice cream she'll stare at a nearby ice cream shop intensely
Sadly missing Junichiro and Fukuzawa cuz I just don't know enough about them 😔 we sad

My thoughts on Episode 3--Hunted.
Most of you lovelies already realize this, but my thoughts tend to zig and zag quite a bit, lol.  So.  To save some of you the headache and spare you from seeing spoilers you’d rather not see yet, I’m again placing them behind a cut.
First things first.  I have totally turned into Yvette Nicole Brown with her TWD notebooks, lol, and I’m not even sorry.  I just felt like it would be fun to go back when the final episode is in the books and see how well my thoughts from these early episodes line up with what I’m feeling when we say our (not-so) final goodbyes.
But that’s enough about that. Let’s get to this thing.
It really is insane how very much I love Melissa McBride.  Just hearing her doing the previously on TWD recap voiceover makes me ridiculously happy.
Cole!  Dude!  We hardly knew ya.
Not gonna lie.  That first shot of Maggie in all the chaos reminded of a shirt I’ve seen.  It says--”Well, well, well.  If it isn’t the consequences of my actions.”
I have to hand it to Angela and the rest of her team.  These opening scenes--on all 3 episodes--have been BOMB so far.  They really hook you in right away.  At least IMHO.
I realize I’m behind the game on this little tidbit, but how much do I adore the fact that Dog is now in the opening credits?
Okay.  Alexandria might look like it’s been on some kind of post-apocalyptic bender but all our girls are looking beautiful as ever.  Maybe it’s Maybelline, lol.
I love to see Kelly and Carol still gravitating toward each other.  It really speaks to each woman’s heart.  Carol wants to make amends so badly and Kelly just has the most lovely, warm, forgiving heart.
Carol’s point about Alexandria still needing the horses to help with the heavy lifting and pointing out the walls and rebuilding won’t matter quite as much if they’re limited by their  hunger and what they can physically lift on their own isn’t wrong.  But I’m sure the same viewers that were okay with Daryl and Co. going out on Maggie’s suicide mission (using the same reasoning) and saying it made sense for the bigger picture will pretend not to recognize that the same element is there in Carol’s desire to go out there and look for the horses.  You know.  Because it was Carol’s idea and not that of their fave(s).
Aaron, Man.  Or maybe I should say Angela.   You just had to put a pit of dread in my belly mentioning Buttons like that.  RIP, Buttons.  You deserved better.  I’m still traumatized.
Look at all the babies bonding.  Look at RJ getting to sit at the big kid table.
“My mom always comes back.”  She damn well better.  Those babies need her.  Until she does, though, Uncle Daryl and Aunt Carol (and Aunt Rosita and everybody else) are going to be there.
Anyway.  Poor RJ.  He barely ever gets any lines, lol.
Hershel and Judith are obviously the mini-adults in this group and baby Rhee is already more cynical and jaded than his sweet daddy was until they reached Alexandria and the wheels started to come off.
So.  Does Maggie just think everybody’s already dead here or what?  Hmm.
You know.  Any building can be creepy AF when the lights are off and it’s dark, lol.  Any building.
So much darkness so far this season.  I’m going to have to invest in some blackout curtains.  I just know it.
Where are all those stairs leading?  Why am I thinking of Hitchcock?  Am I mixing up my scary, suspenseful movies?  Probably.
Of fucking course, Maggie dropped her flashlight.  Thank goodness she had that lighter at the ready just before Ghost Face Reaper took a swipe at her.
Is that Father G with a screwdriver impaled in his thigh?  Listen.  These people deserve a Mega Bottle of pain killers and a week just vegging out in a soft, luxurious bed.
All these horror movie tropes.  Some of them are cheesy, yes.  But I’m totally here for it.
LMAO.  That’s it, Maggie.  A good old punch in the nuts works every time.
Alden really is having a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day.
Negan is still Negan.  Self-serving and looking out for number one.  But I believe the man really does feel the group is his group too.  He’s like that long lost, sketchy uncle nobody wants to acknowledge much less invite to the dinner table, but that bond?  However thin?  Is there.
I am both hating that Maggie is being forced to work with the man that murdered her husband (my baby Glenn) and finding it fascinating the lengths she’s willing to go to survive.  This your plan, Angela?
Rosita and Carol!  How sad is it that the last really significant scene I can remember the two of these women sharing was way back?  Before Rick and Co. attacked Negan’s outpost and Maggie and Carol were subsequently taken?  If only the show had done more of these kind of scenes.
How much do I love all the girls working together?  Gimps would never.  They’d all be stuck back at Alexandria minding the kids and the community.
Shallow aside--Rosita is so pretty in this scene.
Rosita being worried about Carol honestly makes my heart hurt, because it’s about damn time more of them actually did.  Her saying Abraham is trying to tell her something in her dreams is interesting.  Angela sure loves her dreams, doesn’t she?
Where are Daryl’s dreams, hmm?  No.  Seriously.  I guess they want to give some viewers plausible deniability until the bitter end.
“Really?  We’re just gonna go toward the screaming?  Cool.”  Hahaha.  You know.  Even the smart people in horror movies sometimes bite it, Negan.  Just saying.  Maggie really does need to “stop running up the staircase” when she could just run out the front door though, lol.
Poor Duncan.  I think you could have been another Tyreese, Jerry type for me.
WTF does this show have against horses?  Those poor creatures.
Kelly is totally me right now.  I’d be freaking inconsolable.
Carol needed that hug.  Thank you, Magna.  From the bottom of this tired fangirl’s heart, thank you.
Why give us that beautiful, golden shot with the horses when you’re planning to stab us through the heart later and twist the knife.  Oh.  Yeah.  That’s exactly why.
Oh snap!  Father G’s delivery when he tells that Reaper “I’m not.  God isn’t here anymore.”  Cold as ice.
Judas.  That the Reapers’ work.  Or.  Damn.  Either way, that’s harsh.
Back to what Alden was saying.  All these oprhaned children.  Who’s going to take on Adam if he dies?  That poor kid has had a rough go of it.  Knowing that, makes you wonder what Alden was thinking volunteering for the suicide mission.
Omigosh.  There went Agatha.  Terrible way to go.  Right, Beatrice?
I’m sobbing.  Carol with the horse.  That hurt my baby so much but she hurt herself for her family the same way she has been doing since the Prison.  Melissa Mcbride?  When she cries, I cry.  Every effin’ time.  Aaron being there just made it hurt more.  But at least someone was there to see how and really take in how she continues to break pieces of herself off to keep her family as whole and safe and happy as she can.
Rewinding a minute--that Magna and Carol conversation.  I get Magna’s reasoning too.  I do.  But Angela is just making everything so dire right now so that the sun when Connie is ultimate found shines a ltitle brighter.
Those babies know they’re eating horse.  I could never.
That’s got to be a different Coco.  She’s even smaller.  But she’s gorgeous.
Fucking finally.  Angela having the other characters notice after an eternity of being blind to it, just how much Carol sacrifices of herself for them.  It’s so long overdue and I imagine Rosita’s even more worried for Carol now.  It’s a shame it’s taken 11 seasons.  My baby’s had blood on her hands trying to keep her family safe and whole and happy and fed for a long damn time.  So heartbreaking watching her try to scrub the blood away.
Sweet, sweet hug that Kelly gave Magna.  She’s such a sweetheart kid sis to all of them, isn’t she?
Interesting place of refuge.  A gutted church.  A visual symbol, Angela, of where Maggie and the rest of our people are now perhaps?
“It’s easy for you, isn’t it?  Being reckless with sombody’s life...”  Maggie.  Maggie.  Those words would have hit so much harder if we hadnt spent the majority of the last 2.5 episodes watching you ignore sound advice just because it came out of the mouth of somebody you (justifiably) hate.
But will Alden be there when Maggie and Negan get back?  That is the question.  Or will he eventually Lucille himself?
That little bit of lineup Negan music to remind the audience of Negan lovers and sympathizers that he once took great pleasure in murderously swinging a bag at people’s heads was a nice, subtle touch there.  Like agree with her or not, Maggie  is literally left to rely  on the hope, however small it is, that Negan has changed just enough that he won’t try to finish a job he taken on years before--killing what’s left of her.
Oh lawd.  Next episode sees the return of a character literally nobody asked for.  How excited am I not?
Dog better not be harmed or so help me.
Now for Angela’s weekly explanations of WTF she/there were thinking because they been doing this plausible deniability thing so long some people out there watching with biased, muddy stan glasses can no longer separate head canon from canon.
Is Maggie worried at all about Daryl or does she just assume his superhero powers are in full effect in this episode?
“You can’t really say it wasn’t going to happen anyway.”  Not Angela pointing out that simply laying the blame for literally everything bad that ever happens at Carol’s feet isn’t the answer.  Say it louder for those in the back.  Alpha was going to do what Alpha wanted to do.
“There is love there.  There is respect there.  However, there’s also frustration...”  You damn skippy.  Friendships and human relationships are complex AF.  Like Carol. She’s honestly one of the most complicated characters on this show and any show, IMHO.  That’s what makes her so memorable and such a lightning rod for discussion.
I know I might be in a minority, but I really feel like they need more of those little scenes between the kids to keep things real.
Kang saying she always feels like she’s going to get murdered in a staircase or parking lot is relatable, funny, and sad all at the same time.  It’s a girl thing.
Why is Carol’s story giving me Dark Knight vibes?  Like I feel like she’ll gladly shoulder the burden of their distrust, their hate, or their judgment as long as the hard choices she makes keeps them safe.  And she’s still ultimately going to come back to save their asses even when they forsake her.  Just like Bruce Wayne/Batman.  Am I reaching too far, lol?  Because sometimes I do that.
Anyway.  This is the third episode of the season and the third episode in a row that I mostly enjoyed.  I don’t know if I’m just so relieved and happy to have all the characters and my show back or what, but overall?  I’ve been pleased with the episodes and found something to love in all of them.
There’s a much stronger horror vibe woven throughout Season 11 so far.  I feel like it’s a return to the roots of the show and I like that.  Literally none of the characters are making perfect choices and this viewer is here for it.  My only complaint so far is there hasn’t been enough Carol but what we’ve been given has felt like a gift and significant in a way that Gimps’ version was not.  Also?  I really hope the trend of the ladies working together and supporting each other continues because they rule the TWD world, lol.
Hope you enjoyed at least some of my TWD word vomit.
Until next episode.

okay, i know that we established the fact that i once shipped u with our unproblematic king, steph(v)en meeks, but let's completely scratch this thought out of our heads, and we're actually missing the huge picture is that you'd be an absolute adorable couple with neil perry. actually, in all honesty, you'd be compatible with every poet, bestie! but.
neil & u would have a golden retriever boyfriend x girlboss duo, who's power would be UNMATCHED
obviously, i feel like in whatever au of whomever you end up with you and charlie are the reluctant family friends!!
and i think it's a given that neil would catch feelings first. i don't make the rules!
charlie would then push neil to talk to you at joint school party's (u can't tell me that henley hall and helton don't do school events together)
at first you're like 'ugh, charles, wtf do u want' and out pops neil like that one part where miss jenn welcomes mr mazarra to supervise the kids in s2, like a puppy dog
poor boy is so eager to talk to you, since he's seen you around town, and u did tech for midsummer (yeah, neil's alive in this au for my sanity and yours)
he ends up following you for the rest of the night and u both end up watching the party from the school staircase, talking about everything and anything
eventually you start hanging out with the poets, and obviously have clara, linds, and i come as moral support for hanging out w/ teenage boys
you both grow super close, and during the spring show rehearsals (it's singing in the rain, because we all need neil perry as cosmo brown in our lives) at henley he's actually glued to your side, and when you're backstage, he's practically always staring off into the wings and the director gets vvv annoyed!!!
but you're probably the teacher's fave out of the techies, so u get a pass for constantly finding excuses for hanging out with neil during rehearsals
mr keating eventually meets you, and gives neil the biggest pep talk for asking you out, which neil swears he was "planning" on doing. (no he wasn't)
that doesn't work, so eventually todd says something to him.
nobody can tell u what he said exactly, all the boys know is that there was a lot of muffled yelling and unearthly screeching
todd is your #1 fan btw, u writers have to stick together, right?
cameron, is the boy that tells u neil likes u before neil actually does
don't yell at me!!! but i feel like you and cam would be besties, and cam telling u is the most affectionate thing ever (i'm a cameron apologist. just. remember that cameron actually really liked neil.)
u don't say anything, or get to, because afterwards cam simply! runs away?? laivgbiagvirau
leaving you actually clueless
so after that turn of events, cameron's a big dummy and goes up to neil and is like "she doesn't like u :("
like nO??? u actually didn't give her a chance to respond bestie!!!
so this leads up to the day of the show, mhm?
neil avoids u all night, and u even got him a boquet of flowers, and now u just feel stupid. like damn. did that freckle faced nerdy ginger just lie to my face on purpose?
u feel offended, and go outside of the back of the school, where surprise! u see neil sulking about you :(
you're gripping his flowers and oh no! it starts to rain!!
(DON'T YELL AT ME YOU DESERVE A ROM COM MOMENT WITH A THEATRE BOY!!! cringe deserves rights!!)
so u walk over to him, and hand him the boquet of flowers, mary janes starting to ruin and he just looks up with the brightest smile, and you swear it feels like the sun's coming out (it's not)
neil doesn't say anything after that, and probably starts singing 'u are my lucky star' underneath his breath, and it's an unspoken invitation to start dancing in the rain
u both catch cold the day afterwards, but it was worth it because u dorks can take care of each other as an official couple!
bonus: lindsay probably gushes over the waltzing in the rain, while clara and i go feral over the fact that u got sick jnwvtkjbnkj
n knee ways this was incredibly cheesy, but u deserve it for how many ships u do for all of us! i cannot actually express how much i adore the jesper ask (my beloved, PLEASE!!! i want to milo's goat mom and be the one he trusts with his pistols!!! that is all i-) and we actually need to talk about the fact that kaz & u would be a power couple (and a gorgeous one too, bestie!!) sometime else, because i have MANY thoughts on that.
ily and make sure to take care of urself today! <3
cASS!!!!!!!!!!! you don't know how much i laughed and smiled at this ask,,,,,, dps my beloved,,,,,,
first of all,,, you think i'm compatible with every poet??? my power,,, lol, no, but i love that for me.
and charlie as my reluctant family friend is truly a superior dynamic. we both annoy the hell out of each other but would murder anyone should they be mean to the other. we know far too much about the other, but also have zero idea how the other reacts when not around family,,,,,,,, it's actually becoming a favorite headcanon of mine.
and todd, cameron, and i being besties!!!! okay,,,,, but i get the distinct vibes that you would be related to one of the poets, and that’s also how we get an in to their meetings (someone’s like,,,, *sigh* can my little sister bring her friends to our meetings?) and i mean if i had to pick someone,,,,, it’s a tie between todd and pitts. i just feel like you would work perfectly as the more outgoing sibling of a shy idiot.
(and girl, about waltzing in the rain,,,, no doubt you and lindsay were the ones to teach me. imagine having a sleepover and teaching me to ballroom dance in your bedroom with the radio on. in this dead poets society au, we are having all of the cheesy rom-com friendship moments together. we go to malls together, we whisper about boys at our lockers (which are right next to each other for convenience), we go to the movies together only to see the idiot boys, we do makeovers for each other,,,,,,, covid has me yearning.)
also i love the characterization of cameron in this,,,,,, the whole running away and “she doesn’t like you :(” is hilarious, i dIED.
and we can be techies together!!!!!  i imagine clara and lindsay are actually performers, and after rehearsals when we walk home (because we all live in the same direction - spread across two neighborhoods for convenience) we share the tea between the actors and the techies. imagine our chaos <3.
anyway, who wants to daydream with me about this for the next 100 years???
and i’m so glad you love your jesper ship! i just love the idea of the two of you together. it’s golden. and me and kaz????? i have that energy???? i’m astounded and frankly, flattered.

I wasted my winter break watching most of Pedro Pascal’s filmography, so here are my thoughts for posterity:
Kingsman: The Golden Circle
Overall Movie Rating: 9/10
This is the only one I’d seen already but I watched it again
It did not disappoint
Strong plot, great characters, awesome action sequences
Elton John is the best part of this movie, sorry Pedro
Character Fuckability: 8/10
Whiskey gets an 8/10 because he has the accent going for him, it’s sexy
His eyes are particularly big, brown, and beautiful in this film idk why
Dude is really strong, coordinated, and good in a fight, therefore my brain automatically thinks “rail me” (all of Pedro’s characters are like this, but Whiskey gets bonus points for the whip)
He’s kinda misogynistic but we could do a one night thing
Wonder Woman 1984
Overall Movie Rating: 4/10
This was a bad movie
Like, you can’t even argue it
Plot is poorly paced and nonsensical (and I love superhero movies, so it’s not that)
Pedro is the best part and I’m not being biased
Character Fuckability: 5/10
It’s like they went out of their way to make me not attracted to him
Listen, it’s not just the lack of facial hair here, it’s the blond hair and bad power suits too
I prefer him when he’s falling apart later in the movie, and that says a lot (about me)
Max also seems like he’d be a selfish lover, there I said it
Definitely ranks lowest, but would not say no after a few drinks (the accent he uses here works in his favor)
We Can Be Heroes
Overall Movie Rating: 5/10
It’s not fair to rate this one by the same standards because it’s a movie made purely for children
It’s very cringe as an adult but I probably would’ve loved it as a kid, just like Spy Kids
But yeah, everything about it is cheesy af
Also Boyd Holbrook is here, hi Boyd, I loved you in Narcos!
Character Fuckability: 10/10
But listen, there’s a reason that this movie was viewed by a ton of childless households and it’s because of us Pedro simps
He looks amazing
I want to personally thank the costumer designer for putting him in a tight black shirt that shows off those arms, instead of a stupid costumer like everyone else
Also the glasses really get me
Marcus also gets bonus points for being a Good Dad, it’s a very attractive quality
I want him to wreck me but I know he’d be respectful after
Triple Frontier
Overall Movie Rating: 6/10
So it’s a straight up action movie and I was a little bored at times but luckily the cast is fully stacked with v attractive men, so I got through it
Did this movie need to be made? No. Does it say anything new or different about “brothers in arms”? No, but we got to look at Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam AND Pedro Pascal all in one movie, and they were really sweaty for most of it, so that was cool
Watching Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal in a movie together was very cute because that friendship is real, man
Character Fuckability: 8/10
Idk what to say, the longer hair and scruffy beard really work
(I want to pull on that hair so bad)
Seems like a pretty down-to-earth guy who’s good at his job
Yes, he does canonically do cocaine, but I can look past that...
Prospect
Overall Movie Rating: 7/10
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie
We love a small, self-contained Sci-Fi movie
Turns out Pedro’s been playing (surrogate) Sexy Dads since 2018, was not expecting it from this one
Character Fuckability: 7/10
Why is the little blonde streak he has so alluring? Pls don’t ask me to explain, it just is
He’s competent and self-reliant, and that’s sexy
But Ezra loses a couple points because he scares me a little
... I’d do him with or without the arm though
The Great Wall
Overall Movie Rating: 6/10
This movie felt like a cool concept but the execution came off sillier than what they were probably going for
Also it’s another example of the too-common “white savior in an East Asian setting” trope
It’s your basic action movie; not terrible but not overly memorable and if I wasn’t so invested in staring at Pedro Pascal’s face, I never would’ve watched it
Plus side: I really believed in the friendship between Garin and Tovar, they were fun together, kudos to Pedro and M.Damon on that account
Character Fuckability: 8/10
Tovar gives me big Oberyn Martell vibes, so you know he’s good in the sack
The SCAR
He’s a Spaniard so once again he gets bonus points for the accent
[I didn’t include Din Djarin or Javier Peña in this list because it’s only about movies, but I feel like it needs to be said that they’re both ∞ / 10 ]

Always You (J. Markstrom)
a/n: This was the product of me going to a wedding and being in my wedding feels. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!!
Warnings: mentions of death (I’m sorry, please just skip over if this triggers you), grief
Word Count: 1892
Summary: Jacob is confessing how much he loves his girlfriend, YN YLN, to her father. YN father is dying. (The beginning is the POV of the father, just as an fyi.)
Enjoy!!
“It was fate, meeting her. There was nothing in the world that could have compared to the light in her eyes. I have been told that at the beginning of our friendship, I looked at her like she hung the stars. That’s what I thought of her. She did hang the stars. Not just that. She created the stars and hung them. Nothing in the world compares to her. There is nothing else I want in the world except for her. She is the only one I want.
The first time I heard her laugh, I vowed to always make her laugh, I vowed to always make her laugh. From the silliest giggles to the hearty laughs from the stomach, there is no other sound more beautiful. When she giggles at the stupidest jokes or things that aren’t the most funny, I can’t help but smile. She is never one to shy away from a little giggle here or there. When she produces a laugh from deep within her, I go weak in the knees. If you thought her giggles were beautiful and adorable, her deep belly laughs top that. There is nothing more beautiful than her laugh. She is always self-conscious of her laugh. I don’t care. I do not understand where she gets the self-conscious thoughts about her laugh. She has the most beautiful laugh ever. I can’t imagine not hearing her laugh in my life.
The first time I saw her cry, it broke me. I didn’t know that watching someone fall apart would make me fall apart. The funny thing is, she was watching a sad movie. Not anything extremely important. However, to her it is. I vowed after that day that I will hold her while she cries and comfort her when she is upset. There is nowhere else I’d rather be. If I have to concede an argument, even though I was right, I would do that. I would do anything to make her happy, keep a smile on her face, and provide for her. Because seeing her cry is the worst thing ever. I promise to wipe away her tears. I promise to do everything in my power to make sure she never cries.
The smallest things in the world make her the happiest. What are they, do you ask? Where do I begin? The twinkle of the Christmas lights on our tree, the smell of vanilla in the air, the quiet sounds of fire, the heavy pattering of the rain on the roof. The most simple things make her the happiest. The ducks at the pond at the park we like to frequent always bring her joy. Watching her be extremely happy makes me extremely happy.
The capacity of what she can do is extraordinary. From remembering the most minute things to always remembering the important dates, she knows it all. There is not a thing about me she doesn’t know. Except for the capacity of my love for her. I tell her I love her every morning and every night. I tell her before she leaves for work. I tell her at the most random times because I do love her. Everything I do is for her. If only she could peer into my brain and see the amount of times I think, “man, I love her so much.” I think that whenever I am around her. I am the luckiest man alive for knowing her. You understand what I mean, sir, as she is your daughter. Just to have the luck to even have said hello to her that one time is astounding. Never mind that I get to wake up next to her every morning. I always wonder when my luck is going to run out and she leaves me. I would truly be lost without her.
From our first date, I knew that she would be the woman that I marry. She stood her ground. She didn’t feel the need to change herself. She knew what she wanted; she made it clear that if I didn’t want something similar, then our relationship would be doomed from the beginning. I knew right then that I needed to build the confidence to tell her that I wanted the same thing as her. As long as it was her and I got to be in her life. The large family, the house with a white picket fence. Whatever she wants I am willing to give to her. There is nothing in the world I want more than to be in her life. I want everything with her. I think, I hope, I have given her everything she wants, well most of it.
On our first date, she told me that at that point her life, she was looking for someone to settle down with. I hope that I have built a life with her these last four years that tell her I will be around for the long haul. I hope that I have proved to you as well, sir. I will never let her go. I will watch whatever cheesy movie she wants, I will watch whatever cheesy movie she wants, I will listen to her telling me about the most interesting and the most mundane things. I will never be the one to ignore her. As long as I am in her life, I will never let her go.
Sir, you are probably wondering why I am telling you all this about your daughter. You probably already know everything I have said. Lucky you, to be able to know her from birth. What I would give to have met her earlier in my life so that I could be with her longer is an endless list. Unfortunately, I can’t have those years, but I can hopefully have forever.
I am here today asking you for your blessing for your daughter’s hand in marriage. Mr. YLN, you daughter has often spoken of how much you mean to her. Whenever we have talked in the past about our future and marriage, she has never outright said that I need to get your blessing. However, I do know that this is what she wants.
Please sir, I know that your daughter can do so much better than me. However, if I get forever with her, I will show her, you, and the world just how much I love her. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t think about what could happen if I never see her again. My life would be ruined. If she weren’t in my life, I’d be a mess. Anyone can tell you that.
I know that you probably would rather not have to think of this on your deathbed, but know, I will hold your daughter close and never let her go. There will never be a day where she doubts my love for her. It was always her. The light in my life, the glow in my smile, the shine in my eyes, the love in my voice. The source of it all was your daughter. It was always her.
So, sir, I am asking, will you give me your blessing to marry your daughter?”
You watched on, listening to Jacob pour out his heart to your father who was fighting for his life and fighting to stay awake to listen to Jacob’s monologue. It made you cry. If people walked by and asked why you, you would have said because your father was dying. But it’s more. It’s the fact that the man that you love is confessing his love to your father. You and your father had this conversation a few weeks ago before his hospitalization, he told you that if Jacob wanted to marry you, Jacob would have your father’s blessing. If not here in person to give it to Jacob, your father would be in heaven smiling knowing his daughter was happy and in love.
As you continued to look on at Jacob, you saw your father say something to Jacob. The weakness in your father’s voice was evident as you couldn’t hear from the doorway. You watched as the biggest smile broke out on Jacob’s and you dad’s face. You watched your father weakly shake Jacob’s hand.
“Sir, thank you. I will love your daughter as much as you love her. I will be there to hold her, care for her, and love her. I hope to make her the happiest woman alive.”
You watched your father nod in response and fall in a slumber; you watched Jacob take a few steps back to allow him some restful sleep. You walked in and wrapped your arms around Jacob’s waist. He jumped, not knowing that you were watching him.
“You heard everything, didn’t you?” Jacob questions. You don’t say anything. When Jacob turns around and notices the tears in your eyes, he takes them as a yes. He leans down, gently wipes the tears off of your face, kisses your forehead gently, and wraps his arms around you in a warm embrace.
You whisper into his chest an “I love you.” He begins to stroke your back and he replies with an even softer, “I love you. Forever and ever.”
. . .
When your father died two weeks later, Jacob was there to hold you while you cried. There was nowhere else he’d rather be. He promised your father that he would hold you while you cried and make you feel better. He did just that.
Jacob didn’t know how long it would take for you to finally be yourself, even a fraction of  yourself. It didn’t matter. He would be by your side forever. He promised your father that exactly and he would do that exactly.
. . .
Two years after your father died, you and Jacob were getting married. There was nothing in the world that made Jacob happier than knowing he could make you the happiest woman in the world. The only thing he would have was that your father could be there.
During the reception, Jacob made a speech that brought everyone to tears.
“Mr. YLN, I know that you aren’t here today. I want you to know I love your daughter. I love her more than anything in the world. I hope to make her the happiest woman in the world. I hope to make you proud and live to be the son in law you would have wanted.”
With Jacob’s speech, you were brought to tears. During the past two years of your grief, the only constant was the love of Jacob. There was never a day that went by where you doubted Jacob’s love.
As Jacob walked over to you, he had an unreadable look in his eyes.
“Are you ok, yn?”
“Yeah, of course. Why do you ask?”
“You’re crying.”
“You made a beautiful speech, Jacob, you gave me another reason to show just how much I love you.”
“I’m sorry. I promised your father that day to never make you cry.”
“Jacob, I’m not crying because of a bad thing. I’m crying because of the love you had in your voice. And because I miss my father. Jacob, it’s ok.”
He embraced you with the softest most loving hug.
“I love you, YN. Forever and ever.”
“I love you, too, Jacob. Forever and ever and ever.”
Thanks for reading!!

Just saw Wonder Woman 1984 via the magic of HBO Max. It sure is a movie that exists. Spoilers.
Probably the saddest thing is that one of Wonder Woman’s most iconic villains is ONCE AGAIN turned into a miniboss under the control of a male villain, why are the movies so obsessed with doing this?
There are good versions of the Barbara Minerva Cheetah they could have drawn from- whether they went with Perez’s amoral middle aged archeologist or Rucka’s take on her as a former friend turned foe- but instead of actually having her motivations tied to her interests in archeology/Amazon history like those versions, and her beef with Wonder Woman either being about wanting the lasso of truth (Perez version) or being upset she got her involved in dangerous shit/ wasn’t there when she needed her (Rucka version) we instead we got this shallow “nerdy girl jealous of hot girl” story and her interest in archeology could apparently be tossed aside if a guy pays attention to her.
And she had to play second fiddle to this bizarre version of Max Lord...and the movie ended up being more sympathetic to a wannabe oil tycoon grasping for power than a woman who was used by those around her and sexually harrassed on the street...(and how cringey was it her kicking the shit out a serial sexual harasser framed as her ~start of darkness~)
(speaking of cringey BOY THAT MIDDLE EAST STUFF HUH)
It also seemed very little of the movie was about Diana, and the little there was of her character revolved entirely around Steve, who she has not moved on from in sixty years and has not forged any meaningful relationships since him, not even friendships, apparently! It’s nice that she finally learns to let his go or whatever, but what it meant for us as viewers is that we spend the entire time with a character being stuck on one guy from her past instead of seeing like, i dunno, her develop real non-antagonistic relationships with the many other female characters from her mythos, see cool Amazon stuff, or have her be in any way connected to the world around her. We have to spend a whole movie not seeing cool Wonder Woman stuff because Diana needs to ~learn to move on~, when we could have just had her ALREADY HAVE MOVED ON. But no, Steve needs to be her entire world, he even needs to be the one to teach her how to fly. Her character is just almost completely lost in the whole thing.
Anyway, it was just overstuffed and the whole wish thing was this flimsy, kinda hokey premise- the movie seemed to want to be a cheesy 80s movie but wasn’t nearly fun enough to be one?
I did like that the conclusion had to do with the importance of truth, and Diana using her lasso in an unorthodox way to help everyone see the truth, offering hope and the possibility of redemption. that was very in the spirit of Wonder Woman should be. It’s just a shame this dumb version of Max Lord was the target, it’s way cooler when she’s making literal gods break down in tears because she’s showing them the ugliness of their actions (YEP STILL SALTY THEY DIDN’T DO THE THING WITH ARES).
Anyway...yeah, I wasn’t super hopeful about this movie the second I saw the trailers, but it’s too bad I had to be proven right.

*rolls up sleeves and pulls out ancient whiteboard from 2007*
High School Musical 2 is your new comfort film because it is The Best Musical Fanfiction Ever (and because it's The Best High School Musical Film Ever)
HSM1 did what it needed to do in order to set up all our characters n relationships n whatnot, very good intro 8/10
HSM3 tried too hard- it was still good, don't get me wrong, but it lost a bit of that DCOM spark somewhere along the way, 6/10
HSM2 IS EVERYTHING
Rocking summer romance? ✅ Troy and Gabriella running thru a golf course while the sprinklers are going off? Tell me that's not relationship goals. Honestly their entire romance plot line in this movie is basically a fanfic, from the necklace in the beginning to the picnic on the golf course and late night swim to the angsty breakup power ballad to the fluffy resolution. Troy and Gabriella are a fanfic.
Banging timeless songs? ✅ ✅ What Time is It is still on my summer playlist, Work This Out is one of the first songs I play when doing chores, Every Day and You Are the Music in Me were on my wedding playlist- and don't even get me started on how often I still quote Fabulous
Relationships and friendships that feel real and really pull you into the not-so-realistic story? ✅ ✅ ✅ Everyone- even Sharpay and Ryan- feels WAY more fleshed out, and the way the students work together and off each other is incredible
ONE OF THE GREATEST MEMES TO EVER COME FROM ANY MOVIE EVER??? ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ Bet On It is a MASTERPIECE but the way they choreographed it was SO BAD and it's SO FUNNY
HSM2, in theory, really wasn't necessary; disney could've jumped from HSM1 to HSM3 without a problem (especially since the events in HSM2 are never mentioned in HSM3 EVER). It was made to rake in that sweet sweet cash, but they decided to do so with love and care, the way fanfic authors do- canon characters are more fleshed out, relationships are built upon and are more realistic, the story is still fucking bonkers but if you think about it as an AU then everything makes sense!
In conclusion, HSM2 is essentially a giant fanfic framed as a continuation from the first movie, and is overall the best of the trilogy, 11/10, and more people need to give it the respect it deserves- yes I'm prepared to die on this hill, it was probably one of the ones Troy was jumping on during Bet On It
Speaking of Bet On It, all I want (and will probably never get) is a full recreation of the music video by none other than Jeon Jungkook. He's the only member who could really pull it off and I would sell my soul to see him perform the choreo as is
(I just want to clarify that I am not stating any of this as the exact reason why you may love it so much, as I am not you and therefore don't actually know how/why you feel the way you do, I just wanted to share my thoughts and opinions on this beloved childhood movie of mine 🥺🥺)
omg i adore how much you love this movie and you really worded exactly it!! the first one was okay, not really my cup of tea, but the second one brought me so much joy!! the music and the choreo and just all the musical numbers as well as the storyline just felt so, so good. and yeah it's cheesy and silly but it's also so heartfelt and has the genuineness to it that was such a joy to watch! now i'm having so much fun listening to the songs over and over lol i regret thinking i was "too cool" for it back in the day. it really does have so much heart!

No sleep for the wicked
Platonic sleepover with reader, Dawn, Buffy, Willow and Tara.
Request: okay i just saw your guideline post and i got a cute idea for a dawn fic platonic friendship oF COURSE but dawn and reader are bffs ever since she ‘moved’ to sunnydale with buffy and their mom and theyre having a epic slumber party with willow and tara and buffy cause tHAT would be so pure and wholesome. happy fic for all involved maybe watching horror movies or something idk
Requested by: @sunflower-stan
A/N: Thanks for looking at my guideline post, I write Dawn so long as it’s platonic/familial. Reader’s hair is long enough to be plaited.
Tumblr media
You were super excited. You loved going to the Summer’s house. They always made you feel so welcome.
You knew all about demons and vampires and Dawn was so pleased. She didn’t have to hide anything from you, you both trusted each other which was something she had wanted for so long.
This house was like your second home – they all made you feel like one of their own. Buffy already called you and Dawn her annoying younger siblings. She said this with affection and you really did look up to these women. You and Dawn decided one day you would start your own world-saving gang when you managed to find some super-powers, obviously.
A short time after you arrived, Buffy grabbed some blonde-haired guy you had never met before and shoved him into the hall to talk to him or something. After a moment, Buffy came in to explain that they had to go out for a moment but she would bring back pizza for dinner which made you and Dawn cheer. Dawn started to give you the gossip on the blonde guy and Willow decided to get something to distract you both from worrying about Buffy seeing as she was most likely off fighting.
While you were waiting for your food, Willow smiled and brought in four pencils. She set them down in front of the rest of the room and you and Dawn shared a confused look.
“So long as you don’t tell anyone-”
“Willow, are you sure? Maybe we should take a break-”
“It’s harmless. They’re just going to try it without us, at least it’s safer if we supervise” Willow assured her girlfriend, but Tara wasn’t completely convinced.
Willow explained the spell and showed you on her own pencil how to levitate it without ever touching the pencil. You and Dawn gasped and squealed, you were finally being allowed to try magic. You were so excited you could barely focus.
After almost two hours of trying, where your pencil had vibrated slightly but not moved and Dawn’s had stayed completely still, you gave up. You tried so hard but it was no use. Willow giggled at your forlorn faces and told you both just to keep practicing, that she could see you both had potential.
You were young, but you could spot when someone was sugar-coating something. You did love Willow and how kind she was though. Tara seemed relieved that the magic making was over and kissed her girlfriend on the cheek before taking the pencils and putting them away.
Buffy eventually returned bringing pizzas and soda from Xander’s work. You all tucked in, Dawn dropped some down the top she had ‘borrowed’ from Buffy and you both ran giggling before she could notice to try and clean it off in the bathroom. It was no use, she had stained it. She changed and you both just hung it back up hoping she would think it was blood.
It had grown dark outside and you and Dawn had dimmed and turned off most of the lights, convincing the older women to listen to your ghost stories. They were silly tales that they had heard several times before when they were in high school themselves (Hell, Buffy and Willow had lived through worse in high school).
However, with your joint story-telling skills and a perfectly timed thud against the floor the women actually jumped. You both grinned, teasing Buffy especially considering she was the Slayer. Buffy shook her head at the pair of you, you could annoy her at times but she really was fond of you both.
You began to watch different films, you and Dawn were sat on the floor with the older girls on the sofa behind you. Buffy started to plait Dawn’s hair and Tara, ever the sweetheart, offered to attempt to plait yours. You nodded, a little shy she had seen you glancing at Dawn and Buffy.
You carried on through the evening, watching films and making commentary. The others told you to calm down a little but you and Dawn were having too much fun.
Eventually, towards midnight, you were watching a spooky movie and you and Dawn were hiding behind pillows, more because it was fun than the fact you were really scared. You knew you had a slayer and some powerful witches on your side. You often shouted advice to the screen but the characters just would not listen.
You looked up from behind your pillows to ask Buffy if she would have staked the vampire straight away or kept him around on purpose to get information from him (trying not to giggle over Dawn whispering she would probably just try to kiss him instead).
When you turned though, the three women that had claimed the sofa were fast asleep. Tara and Willow were curled up together and Buffy was cuddling a cushion to her chest as she slept soundly.
You had tired the others out evidently. You looked back at Dawn and shared an eye-roll at your older friends. You and Dawn were still wide awake. Giggling and agreeing to aim to stay up for the entire night.
Why did they get to be the adults when you were the ones with all the energy to go out and have fun? So not fair.
You painted each other’s nails and ate as much candy as you could stomach. The others would wake up to find you passed out at 8am after the most epic sugar high of all time.
But, for the meantime, while they slept you and Dawn got to work. Giggling and falling over each other pretending that you were drunk you ran outside into the early morning light. You danced and sang at the top of your lungs.
That’s why you liked Dawn, she wasn’t afraid to be giddy with you. She was your best friend and the closest thing to a twin you would have.
You pretended you were famous singers, coming up with the most cheesy dance routines. You were directed by Dawn, who was surprisingly a half-decent choreographer. However, sometimes as you started from the top, you wouldn’t be able to continue. You fell into fits of laughter, unsure how you hadn’t woken up the entire street.
You kept catching laughter from each other, she would start and you would catch it and eventually tail off. Then something tickled you and you couldn’t stop giggling, sending her into uncontrollable fits of laughter.
When you got bored of that you sat around throwing and catching candy in your mouths and whispering to each other your secrets. Finding out who Dawn’s secret crush was which made you shriek with laughter. Meaning she threw a pillow at your face which almost knocked you backwards.
It was nice to have so much fun with your friend. To feel safe and cosy, despite all of the demons that surrounded you all. These women, your best friend, they were like family.
You were so grateful to have them in your life, and to have your chosen family all around you.

Pairing: Hyunjin X Reader
Swearing. Jealousy. Mentions of a breakup.
A/N: This idea sort of just... came to me a few days ago and I busted this out. It’s a bit heavier and more angsty than I wanted, but I hope you all like it!
I’m still working on a very long piece for Hyunjin and a few more requests in my asks, please look forward to what’s coming!
Also, what do you all think of GO LIVE? Personally, I’ve had it on repeat since it came out!
Stay cool.
-
“Hey! I know we planned on hanging out tonight but Changbin and I are kind of on a roll here with this song of ours and the deadline is only in a couple days so we’re really desperate to keep this going and-“
“And you won’t be coming home to watch a horror movie with me?”
“Or a cheesy rom-com, we never really decided.”
You and Chan were best friends. After showing up to your first day at your shared university, Chan was introduced to you as your tour guide during freshman orientation. While everyone else in your group hung back and anxiously glanced around at the foreign environment, you and Chan instantly hit it off and continued a conversation at the front of the crowd for the entire tour.
He told you about growing up in Australia and his love for music (you tried to hide your giggle when he mentioned him and his friends’ Soundcloud endeavors) whereas you talked about all the classes you were taking and your dream career.
Meeting Chan took a lot of pressure off of your shoulders when it came to starting at a new school and embarking on a new stage of your life. Not only did he restore your faith in nice people still existing, but he gave you advice on teachers, told you the best places to hit up for snacks during a late night study session, and you got to meet all of his friends.
You got to meet Hyunjin.
Hyunjin was your age, two years younger than Chan, and one of Chan’s honorary brothers. They met through Minho, another boy in the group, who was partnering with Hyunjin on choreography and went to Chan for music to use.
Honestly, you’d be surprised if anyone met your eight stray boys and didn’t want to get close to them; their charm is hard to resist.
And, unfortunately for you, so is Hyunjin’s.
You occasionally saw each other when the nine of you hung out as a group, greeting each other upon arrivals and exits, waving when you saw each other on campus. Soon, that grew into you guys gravitating towards each other at hangouts (sitting next to each other and sharing a bowl of popcorn on movie night, stepping out for fresh air together during one of Jisung’s big parties) and making plans on your own without the rest of the boys. It was no surprise to the rest of the group when Seungmin called you while you were on your first official date with Hyunjin and had to explain what you were doing (and why you would have to hear about how annoying Jisung was being at another time).
You and Hyunjin’s relationship, despite your fears, didn’t disrupt the dynamic of your friend group. Splitting your guys’ time between dates and takeout dinners with the boys was easy and your lives almost barely changed once you became official.
Which was the problem.
While behind closed doors you and Hyunjin were as “lovey-dovey” as they come (“get a room, you two!”), the rest of your college campus just saw you two as the best friends you had been for the months between meeting and getting together.
It left a sour taste in your mouth every time someone asked if you could hook them up with Hyunjin and it was like a punch to Hyunjin’s throat every time someone made a suggestive comment about how you looked that day in front of him.
It was what eventually broke you guys up, all the jealousy and occasional bickering over people who were “just friends”. You two were the only people on each other’s radar through and through, but insecurity is a powerful thing.
It was a rough breakup. You didn’t leave your room for a full 29 hours (Jeongin timed it) and finally walked out with a tear-streaked face and hoodie (that may or may not have been Hyunjin’s).
Hyunjin poured everything he was feeling into his dancing and his performance at your university’s end-of-year showcase almost had you tearing up all over again; everyone was moved by Hyunjin’s choreography, but you were the only person in the audience who knew the whole story and therefore, felt it the most.
The slight distance between you and all the boys that summer after your freshman year had ended had worked to ease some of the lingering tension between you and your ex-boyfriend. The two of you were able to grow back into a friendship once the new fall semester reunited the nine of you but things could never really go back to the way they used to be, regardless of the presence or absence of romance.
That didn’t stop either of you from staying close to the other boys and you and Chan were still as inseparable as ever. He was hard at work right now, trying to wrap up his and Changbin’s senior project (Jisung is still pissed that he isn’t allowed to help), but you two had decided to hangout tonight to make up for Chan’s busy schedule.
“Are you sure you won’t be back anytime soon? I can wait,” your tone was pleading.
You could hear Chan talking, but it was too muffled to make out what he was saying; you figured he was speaking to Changbin.
“Tomorrow’s the only day of the week that Changbin doesn’t have an 8-am, so he wants to stay here no matter what but all of our work is on my laptop and I kind of need that tomorrow for my 8-am but he probably won’t be awake early enough to-”
“You owe me, Christopher.” You only ever used his English name to tease him. This way, he would know you weren’t actually mad, even if your disappointment was genuine.
You hung up while Chan was mid-apology, shooting him a quick test saying you “got it” with a couple of hearts.
Your phone was left discarded on Chan’s kitchen counter as you munched on a piece of pizza; you had made it to Chan’s apartment about fifteen minutes before he called and you weren’t really in a rush to go back to your small stuffy dorm room and loud roommate.
Chan lived in an apartment off-campus with Changbin and Jisung which acted as an unofficial go-to for your friend group; one of you was usually sleeping on the couch, taking advantage of the insanely fast WiFi, or clearing out their fridge regardless of the actual owners were home.
This was the reason why you didn’t look up from your sad dinner when you heard the front door open, assuming it was just a pouty Jisung or hungry Felix.
However, the voice that greeted you was neither as animated as Jisung’s nor deep as Felix’s.
“Y/N?”
The final piece of the crust almost got stuck in your throat.
You hummed a response, still chewing and starting to formulate an escape plan.
“Is Changbin here? He left his notebook at my place and I think there are some lyrics in it, he told me to drop by to give it to him.”
You gaped at Hyunjin, surprised at how similar your situations were. Your explanation of what Chan had said was quick, hoping it would get Hyunjin out of the apartment as soon as possible.
It’s not that you didn’t want to be around Hyunjin, it’s just that you two hadn’t hung out alone since your breakup and the two of you hanging out together in this apartment at this counter was a little too familiar.
“Do you mind if I wait with you, then? I’ve barely eaten all day and this pizza smells a little too good to ignore.”
He was already seated in the stool next to yours before you could get a word out. You nodded anyway, though, and pushed the stack of paper-thin napkins the pizza place had given you between the two of you.
“Have Chan or Changbin showed you the song so far?” Hyunjin said with a mouthful of cheese and tomato sauce.
Even while eating he looked perfect; his lips glistened with the oil from the pizza slice in his hands and anyone could admire his toned forearms thanks to the way he pushed up his sleeves to avoid staining.
“No, but I haven’t even bothered asking,” you told him, “I figured they were keeping everything top-secret until the showcase.”
“I tried bringing them some food the other day before class and Changbin basically shoved me back out the door,” Hyunjin giggled. “The same thing happened to Jeongin, apparently.”
“If they could resist Yang Jeongin what chance do I have?” You joked.
Except, Hyunjin didn’t laugh, he was completely silent; even his chewing had stopped. You couldn’t think much of it, the boy next to you snapped out of it quickly.
“I keep forgetting that they won’t be here next year.”
They, Chan and Changbin and Minho, the three seniors in your friend group.
“I’ve been avoiding thinking about it,” you admitted. “I’m mostly worried for Jisung, honestly, he’s losing his best friend and his group-mates all in one year.”
This was partly true. Jisung’s best friend, Minho, was indeed graduating along with 2/3 of 3RACHA, but you weren’t worried about Jisung having to adjust to the change. It was actually Hyunjin you worried for the most; he was the most sensitive person in your friend group and tended to be apprehensive towards change. Not seeing three of your favorite boys around campus was going to be hard for all remaining six of you, but Hyunjin was terrified of being left behind or replaced.
“But… but they’ll still be living here!” You quickly added, gesturing to the apartment the two of you were in. “They’ll still be here with us, really.”
“I’m going to have to find a new partner,” Hyunjin tried masking his sadness with a weak smile.
Your instincts kicked in, making you place a gentle hand on Hyunjin’s arm. You stroked your thumb back and forth along his sweatshirt, hoping he could feel the comforting gesture underneath all the fabric.
“Didn’t Felix tell you? He’s planning on switching his major after this year! He wants to go into dance, too.”
Hyunjin turned his body to face yours, your hand losing its grip and falling back down to your side.
“He’s changing his focus at the end of sophomore year?”
You shrugged. “It was his last chance to do it. You know how much he hated finance.”
Hyunjin nodded. “He only kept up with that for as long as he did for his parents; I’m glad he finally has the chance to do what he’s always wanted to.”
You were in agreement there; Felix had finally prioritized his own happiness.
“And this way you don’t have to worry about a new partner!” You tried sounding hopeful, knowing that while Felix would be a healthy addition to the dance department at your university, Hyunjin would take losing Minho hard; he was basically his mentor.
“And… and I’ll still be here. When-If you need me.”
The two of you locked eyes. Fear rose up your spine, chilling your skin and leaving a trail of goosebumps.
With a flash of his pretty smile, Hyunjin instantly calmed your nerves.
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?”
You cocked your head to the side, not sure what Hyunjin was getting at.
He turned away quickly, starting to fidget with the pretty rings on his pretty fingers.
“With Chan leaving and all.”
“Oh. I mean… I’ll obviously miss him like everyone else, but he won’t be too far away. As long as he gives me my movie nights I’ll manage.” You joked.
Hyunjin glanced back up at you, his eyebrows slightly scrunched in thought.
“Was this a date?”
You visibly jumped back into your seat. “What?”
“For you and Chan.”
“Oh. Wait, what?”
The boy in front of you got up off his stool, walked a few steps away from you, crossed his arms and stopped.
“I thought you two were a thing now. You had always been so close and I thought… since we… after I… I figured you guys would’ve made it official by now.”
“Hyunjin… Chan and I are just friends.” What had gotten into him? “That’s all we’ve ever been.”
“Are you sure?” Hyunjin’s voice was getting louder, his fists getting tighter.
You opened your mouth to respond with a little attitude, but Hyunjin beat you to it.
“I know you weren’t planning on finishing this pizza all by yourself and people don’t usually go on movie dates,” he scowled while saying the words, “alone.”
“I never called it a date, you’re the one who started using that word.”
“Well, what else am I supposed to think? When you and I started spending time together without the other guys we were dating within weeks and you and Chan have always been basically inseparable-”
“Is that what this is actually about?”
“-and it doesn’t help that you always wear his sweatshirts around now or crash at his place all the time. You’re practically throwing it in my face-”
“There’s nothing to throw in your face, Hyunjin.”
“-that I’ve been replaced!”
Hyunjin regretted the word as soon as it left his pretty lips. He started blinking quickly and licking his lips, anything to distract him and keep him from running his mouth again.
“Replaced?” You repeated. “I… I haven’t… I’m not trying to replace you, Hyunjin.”
Silence.
“All eight of you guys have your own place in my life, they can shift and change regardless of what the other ones are doing. And, frankly, you’re making it sound like I’m just trying to check all of you off of a list, as if I’m here solely to get with you guys at one point or another.”
“I didn’t mean it like that,” Hyunjin said quickly. “It’s just… all I do is think about us and what we had whenever I see you. And right now, I see Chan in the same places that I used to be and it hurts. It really fucking hurts!”
Hyunjin’s eyes were wet, the dim kitchen light reflecting off the trails down his cheeks.
“I thought I would be able to deal with the breakup better if we kept our distance but when summer ended and we came back… all of a sudden, the spots next to you on the couch were always already taken, you were already partnered with someone else in class before I could even get halfway to your seat, I felt… I feel like you don’t need me anymore, that I’m a random leftover piece next to a puzzle that’s already finished.”
You forced yourself not to point out how these fears that both of you shared were what pushed your relationship to its breaking point. Now wasn’t the time.
“I thought that the distance was best for both of us,” you started. “But… I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss you, miss what we had. I miss you, Hyunjin, I miss us. We were friends before we started dating and I thought that that meant it was possible for us to revert back to that stage in our relationship but every joke you made or smile you gave me just kept my feelings for you right where they were.”
You got up slowly, inching towards the sniffling boy.
“Of course I still need you,” you whispered, “I want you in my life.”
Your arms wrapped around the neck of the boy you loved, pulling him close into your body as your shared tears left their mark on your clothes.
“There’s always a space for you when it comes to me, whether or not that’s a good thing. You don’t have to compete with anyone for my time or love.”
You both knew you weren’t just speaking about Chan or even the rest of your friend group but also the people around campus and in the city who had caused such an insecurity to grow within both of you.
“We have a lot to work on, don’t we? If this is going to work?”
You didn’t answer, you couldn’t, you just squeezed Hyunjin tighter to give yourself the courage you knew you would need in preparation for what would come with the future.
The future with Hyunjin by your side.
