okay, but stick with me...
i know, i know, there are technically other things i should be doing, but i’m in my feels today, and you guys have me thinking about it, so today we’re talking about @onceupon-a-decembr, @johnskeating, @musicallisto, and i in a dead poets society au...
as we all know, i don’t do things halfway, so let’s break down some basics, first.
because of movie convenience, we all live in the same neighborhood - three streets right next to each other. we’re also within walking distance of a couple of fun shops, and there’s a library across from my house <3.
lindsay and cass are next door neighbors one one street. they even have windows that face each other, so they often talk by writing each other notes, à la taylor swift’s you belong with me music video. clara lives on the next street over, and i live at the one after that. i imagine clara lives in some kind of cul de sac, for no other reason than i want one of us to live in a circle so that we can have stupid moments when teaching each other how to do a three-point turn.
but also,,,,, some very important subject matter, here, clara just so happens to live on the same cul de sac as chris noel. idk why, i just feel like they should be friends, and if they live on the same street and knox comes over like an idiot, he’s landlocked by cass and i who will bully him vehemently - especially when he becomes our friend. (and lol, the implication of cass and i just knowing when he shows up and cutting through people’s backyards so we can scream “get a life, knox!” is hilarious. your besties could never.)
we all go to henley hall, which is the all-girl prep school, and even though it’s left up to your personal interpretation, i’m going to say that it’s a boarding school too, so we get roommates (more on that later).
okay, but now let’s cover how each of us knows each other, and just some important information:
(oh, like last time, i’m just assuming we’re all the same age in this, because calculating ages is math and i do not condone that blasphemy, here)
cass is the twin sister of pitts, and they’re actually really close! i get the vibes that they’re the sibling duo who really care for each other, but also pretend to be annoyed when they have to hang out with each other in public. they probably get along really well and have inside jokes, including ones that sound vaguely offending. they probably call each other things like “disappointment (affectionate)” and “stale bread (joking).”
cass and lindsay are, of course, neighbors, and i feel like their families met each when lindsay’s family was new in town, and cass’ parents brought over a casserole as a housewarming gift. when they find out they have daughters the same age, they plan a playdate at the park (which is conveniently close by), and from the first visit onward, lindsay and cass are inseparable. they’re young when this happens - like 4 or something.
now,,,, two streets down, i am living my best life, just trying to do me, but sadly, my mother is good friends with none other than the daltons. they go way back - like high school years - and just recently reconnected at the grocery store. the daltons live a few more streets over, but when i’m like,,,, 7 they start to come over a lot to just to “catch up”. they, of course, bring their son, charlie, and he becomes fast friends with my brothers. me on the other hand,,,,, i’m not as easily won.
and when we’re all 8 years old,,,,,, in moves a new family! clara moves in, and since she’s not on any of our streets, we don’t really go over to introduce ourselves or anything, we just see her sometimes outside of the car window and are like “ :0 oh? new friend? ” it’s the summer, so we don’t meet her until that fall when school starts, and i immediately want to claim her as my best friend. maybe we both hang out in the library at recess or something because of respective injuries, and that’s how our friendship blossoms.
now, because we all live in the same place, we all definitely go to the same elementary school, and we all ~know of~ each other, but we’re kids and can be exclusive with our friend groups.
something important that happens, however, is that neil becomes friends with pitts in elementary (if canon says otherwise it can die by my blade), and a common sight in the neighborhood is neil, pitts, cass, and lindsay playing games and riding bikes, giggling and laughing until the sky starts to darken and neil has to get back home. ofc, cass’ parents will offer to give him a ride, and the rest of the group gets to wave goodbye, finishing the remnants of their popsicles on the front porch steps. other times, neil stays over for dinner, and everyone gets to eat off of paper plates in the backyard and (if it’s in the summer) stay out to star gaze and/or tell spooky stories by lantern light (pitts is actually really good).
oh, to be 10.
another important something, happening with clara and i, is the frequent clash of clara and i hanging out (probably climbing trees in the backyard and reciting poetry) and my brothers hanging out with charlie. charlie and i have that special relationship where we both spit on the other’s existence, because having to like a family friend is torture. the first time i say “fuck,” it’s definitely directed at him, (like, “fuck off, charlie!” and, of course, my mom just so happens to be right there.) clara probably taught me <3. on the other hand, however, clara does not face the crushing reality of having to like charlie dalton, and that means that while she finds him annoying, she also knows he’s incredibly funny. she’ll definitely laugh at his (admittedly good) jokes, but she’ll also back me up when he’s being stupid. the best of both worlds.
that all changes though, when we’re thirteen, and we go to ~henley hall~. (junior high wasn’t really a ~thing~ in the 50s, and prep schools can start at 13, so just trust me on this.)
(also - just for reference, for the rest of the headcanons i’m using these ships: cass x meeks, lindsay x neil, clara x charlie, and honestly?..... crumbs of me x pitts.)
the early days
henley hall really sees our personalities take shape, lol, but it also gives us some different dynamics, too, so i hope you’re prepared for this.
because here’s the thing,,,,, you know there’s some misfortune with who dorms with who. sadly, friends gets torn apart, and because the school has a strict policy on not allowing room changes for anything other than medical reasons, we’re all stuck in different rooms, which is truly distressing.
however, we have classes together - cass and clara have math, and sit next to each other because they recognize the other and don’t want to be lonely. (they become really good friends pretty fast and often pass notes to each other, bonding over hating the teacher.)
lindsay and i, however, luck out and we get english together. we probably bond over our mutual, thirteen-year-old love for shakespeare (we most likely only know romeo and juliet, but our love is valid, okay?).
and we all have history together or something, but the teacher gives a strict seating chart, so we just toss each other looks when their back is turned.
and one day our group meshes together because we all have the same lunch and study time, and hey! we’re all friends, actually!
in this universe, my health problems actually mean something to the school administration, and so i get out of p.e. instead, i spend my time helping administration or something, and whenever any of you get an asthma attack or break a bone or something, you work with me. whichever one of you is most accident prone gets to be winning ✌️✌️!!
okay, but the first summer back from henley is our first legendary summer. it involves a lot of walking to each other’s houses, annoying the elderly neighbors next door when we ride our bikes and aggressively ding the bells at each other, and going to the local library and laughing because i’m terrible at using the card catalogs. (one of you can teach me, and all summer we send each other on wild goose chases, looking for hyper specific books.) we also probably create a secret handshake between the four of us, but someone (clara) keeps forgetting how to do it (clara).
(also, i think it’s important that we all have the shared experience of baking together, because i’ve noticed that people have wildly different methods, and i think the chaos could be funny.)
and lo and behold, we have some people to introduce! clara and i get to meet pitts and neil, and honestly, i probably really vibe with pitts. i feel like we’d get along. (also, wrong post, but pitts has rights to say “fuck”.) i feel like clara vibes with everyone, but her and neil would probably be a dynamic duo. i feel like she would feed into his theatre kid energy, and together, they would just be slightly unhinged.
and now everyone gets to meet charlie! i feel like cass would have a bit of a crush on him at first, and it goes straight to his head. clara will go on record saying that he was particularly insufferable that summer, although whether it’s because he was truly terrible those three months, or because she’s starting to catch feelings for a boy that her friend had feelings for in undetermined.
this summer, however, we also meet another key player - stephen meeks. he’s become good friends with charlie, and even though he’s more nerdy than my brothers, he definitely hangs out with them, because charlie vouches for him. (they’re dynamic is actually really precious to me, so allow me to include it, shhh). and!!! meeks and pitts are probably roommates at this point, so meeks probably frequents cass’ home, and they become good friends. and an underrated duo is lindsay and meeks. i feel like they could be good friends! they both definitely talk about books together and scream at each other the way lindsay and i do in our dms.
anyway, back to august, and now that we’re fourteen going on fifteen??? we go henley, only to find a set of twins and their cousins moved out of state, and there’s a change in the dorm rooms.
we’re back in business, baby!
the gods took pity on us, and just in time for a drastic change in schedule material and club commitments (because we’re technically in “high school” now, and it counts of your transcript), we get new rooming situations. not to be ~basic~ but lindsay and cass room together, and now clara and i room together. and we’re right across the hall from each other (for convenience <3). whoever signed off on that executive decision was a legend, my guys. they deserve a home cooked meal of their choice.
this leads to a lot of joint study sessions! breaking news: the girls have figured out what each of them excel in and use it to the advantage of the group! collectivist survival skills! (clearly, you all know what subject you excel in the most, so perhaps leave a comment? just so we know?)
(i’m good at sociology and psychology, so I quiz you guys on those terms, and at lunch I help you psychoanalyze people. i’m also probably in a writing club because i’m just like that™, so i’m constantly clicking away on the typewriter, asking cass how to spell things so i don’t have to go through the terrible process that is fixing an error on a typewriter.)
and, at fifteen, we are now allowed to join more extracurriculars in school - of them, theatre. cass and i gravitate toward stage crew right away, and clara and lindsay are performers, ofc. (or perhaps one of you wants to be in the pit? the orchestra? they’re a vital addition to theatre and deserve more recognition). you probably don’t get leads in your first show, but you get speaking/singing roles, and it’s a lot of fun. pitts comes to opening night, and he brings his new group of friends (all the poets, minus todd) and it’s an experience, let me tell you.
charlie probably makes some wry comment about the stage make-up, but clara shoots one right back (as is their signature banter). meeks definitely indulges cass by geeking out over stage tech with her (and side note but he fixes radios and has the right kind of mind - he should join). i probably really get along with cameron ngl (we respect the slytherin in the other, okay?). knox is probably just giving us that awkward white person smile, (he doesn’t know us yet, lol) and neil is like,,,,, starstruck by the whole theatre process and he chats up lindsay so much, it’s adorable. (that summer, he is definitely asking lindsay for play-by-plays because he desperately wants to live vicariously through her.)
and school is cool, but let me talk about summer, because that is most poignant, tbh.
so, we finally start to see some different dynamics develop with the poets and our friend group!
>> neil and lindsay, like i mentioned, end up spending a lot of time together. they have similar schedules in that they stop at the grocery store at the same time, or they go to the park on the same weekends and see each other. it’s only natural that they end up spending more time together, and neil is an old friend, so lindsay’s family doesn’t think anything weird about it. and it’s not weird! it’s just innocent. they’re both really good friends. everything they used to do, they still do - like no time has passed at all. they listen to music together (bonding over records,,,, my heart), they stargaze together (lindsay hs learned a lot from clara’s astronomy lessons), they swap jokes and gossip, and talk about the future in vague, teenage terms.
>> clara, charlie and knox also end up seeing each other a lot, because clara is a queen and travels in a pack - either with us or with chris and her friends - and charlie and knox are those guys who just so happen to be at the mall at the same time. what can they say? they’re chick magnets. it’s definitely not because charlie wants to see clara or anything,,,, that would be stupid. and there’s no way in hell charlie comes over to my house and immediately looks for clara’s blonde hair and signature laugh. that would be stupid, alright? charlie’s not like that. he’s here for knox’s stupid crush, not his 😤😤 . (also, this is my au and knox x chris can still be endgame... but only if we scale down his toxic tendencies and omit that non-consensual kiss. he and charlie can be simps together as long as knox is not like That.)
>> meanwhile, pitts, meeks, cass, and i all end up spending a lot of time together. i imagine we have geek sessions (perhaps while playing d&d?), of course, (talking about aliens, space, greek mythology, cryptids, and whatever else) but also, we play a lot of poker and chess together, and while pitts and i go head to head (competitive besties always win <3), cass and meeks often hang out in the corner, or sneak off outside to chat about life and the friend group, and their place in it. they also do that thing™ where they both just so happen to sneak into the kitchen at the same time, both of them trying to get a cookie or get a coke or something, and their hands brush, which leads to mumbled apologies and breathy laughs.
also... i just might act as a sleeper agent on behalf of cass, occupying pitts so that meeks and cass can have moments without the surly older brother stare™. (also, i feel like i would be That Friend that makes fun of the fact that pitts’ name is gerard. like,,,, come on,,,,, gerard.)
>> also, this bit has been cameron erasure, so i feel like we need to give him a couple of moments to shine. clearly he and i have a quiet, mutual respect for each other, but i also feel like lindsay and him (while initially being bristly toward each other), become friends. especially since he’s so close with neil, and clearly knows just how close the two of them are (probably before the rest of us, lol. cam clues us in.)
okay, so that’s ~freshman year~ and we still have one more before we meet todd *sigh*.
but!!! with every growing year, we get more privilege!
on weekends, you can leave campus if you get ~parent permission~ and my mom is the cool mom that gives permission for me whenever, and her note just so happens to always have extra space, so lindsay can forge the signatures of reluctant moms. cass is really good at cajoling her parents into giving her the car for the day, and we sometimes go to museums or big malls on our days off.
and movie excursions!!!! so, there’s a really cute theatre that’s within walking distance of both prep schools, and it just so happens that our group and the poets like to watch movies. knox is definitely a movie enthusiast, and he definitely has friends at the theatre, so with some persuasion, he can score us really nice seats to all the best movies. sometimes, when the boys are watching a show at the same time as us, we all end up going together. the girls and guys probably drive up separately (probs two cars for the boys), and we meet outside the theatre. lindsay and charlie raid the concession stands (and clara is there to make sure they actually get enough food for everyone), knox is of course getting the tickets while neil is herding everyone like cats towards the correct theatre. i probably stop at the bathroom but drag cass with me, and we get to talk about our bullying strategy for knox how obvious it is that charlie’s a stupid idiot, in love with clara but making it known in such a charlie way.
when we get to our seats, cameron and i chat about movie trivia. he tries to include meeks on many occasions, because apparently meeks is quite the trivia king, but meeks is too busy making soft eyes at cass, and trading movie-related jokes. or making a list of movies everyone needs to watch in the summer. meanwhile clara is thieving charlie’s twizzlers and trying to use her winning charm as a bargaining chip, lindsay is no doubt stealing knox’s seat so she can get a better look at the screen (because some people are stupidly tall), neil is tossing popcorn in everyone’s hair, and pitts is just calmly drinking his soda. he has dissociated. no one notices.
when we finally settle in for the show, lindsay is sitting next to neil with her head on his shoulder, cass and meeks are holding hands, clara and charlie and whispering in each other’s ears about the best parts, catching grins in the dim light, i am getting way too into the opening music, and going through the five stages of grief when i realize that knox has the same reaction. through the movie, neil undoubtedly uses the whisper chain to just,,,, tell knox something stupid, and it annoys us, but everyone still finishes the chain. pitts is the one that always has to leave to go get popcorn in the middle of the show (because he’s the least confrontational about missing part of it) and i probably end up going with him to stretch my legs and supervise, and,,,,, yes. we really need more movie nights.
afterward, everyone goes to the diner to get shakes and fries (knox obnoxiously orders a double decker hamburger on someone else’s dime, and he always promises he’ll pay them back, but never does. charlie probably offers to cover his bill this one time, but ends up doing it like,,, 80% of the time.). at the end of the night, people go their separate ways - meeks walks cass home for extra sweetness, neil and lindsay stop at the park and sit on the swings, contemplating their existence in the grand scheme of life, clara probably drives me home and i ask her “what’s that all about?” (meaning her and charlie), and at the end of her rant about boys™ i’m actually like,,,, yeah, ngl, you and charlie compatible and actually very sweet together,,,,, i support it.
and, in our dorm rooms, we, of course, get up to some shenanigans. we definitely get in trouble for singing,,,, but we claim that it’s part of rehearsal, so there’s often no repercussions. like i mentioned in a different post, you guys teach me to waltz and ballroom dance in our dorms. i probably teach you cleaning life hacks. we probably have an impromptu book club where we all read a book at roughly the same time (we pester those that finish slowly) and give it reviews and talk about it’s good parts. we leave each other notes. we share our writing. we give each other makeovers! perhaps share clothes?? i’m crying, i love this.
finally. the moment we’ve been waiting for. the events of the movie.
TODD!!!!!!!!! HE’S HERE!!!!!!!!!
okay, so i feel like we’d all collectively love todd, and there’s a running joke of “get rid of the others. we have todd now. todd is the only one that matters.” and honestly,,,, could you imagine him arriving into the chaotic scene of our friend group?
he’s even more “?????” confused than usual.
i think he’d connect with all of us in very different ways so let me explain: for lindsay, they both have that really soft romanticism about them, and so later, when he’s a little more open to sharing his feelings, they definitely can talk about that a bit more. poetry writing buddies!!! she’s the only one who gets to read his writing. for cass, they are both often the bedrock of the friend group - the steady hand that keeps us all together. they definitely recognize that in each other, and probably take “personal days” away from the group together. for therapy. for clara, they both carry that quiet courage. it’s so ingrained in them, and it comes out in small ways, but they recognize that strength. and they’re each other’s hype man!!!! for me, we’re both really comfortable alone - in the quiet of our own thoughts - and we can both often play the part of the cynic, so we get along nicely. late night chats because we can.
anyway, we collectively adore todd. i suppose we can meet him on one of our weekend excursions, and perhaps it’s pitts and cass’ birthday so there’s a house party, and that’s where we can have some good™ one on one time. here’s a breakdown of some important™ moments:
>> lindsay and neil share their first kiss. it’s casual, and it’s unsure if whether the relaxed tone is because they’ve known each other for so long that it’s natural, or if it’s because the feelings they have for each other are just friendly, but they both mistake that tender closeness for an intimacy they long for. it’s sweet - on the roof, under a sky full of stars - in between contemplative talks of life, and their aspirations. it’s here that neil mentions his longing for something... a beautiful purpose that he can claim as his own. neither of them really talk about it afterwards. it just is.
>> i find out about pitts’ sweater collection, and about die. (listen, i adore sweaters. and sweaters large enough you can drown in them? sign me the hell up.) it’s now a thing that i gift pitts sweaters. no matter the occasion, it’s a sweater. a christmas gift? sweater. a birthday gift? sweater. a summer luau? sweater.
>> clara and charlie actually finally have an intellectual conversation about their feelings for each other. i imagine it started when he came to find clara, who was spread out on the grass, looking up at the night sky. and it’s like,,, a brisk october night so he’s teases her about being out when it’s cold. clara offers back some half-hearted banter, but since it’s getting late and clara is getting to that place where she’s an honest tired, she mostly just listens to his teasing with her eyes closed. when he says he’s going to go back inside, clara asks him to stay. just talk. she likes the sound of his voice. he teases her for that but she says it’s the truth. she likes to listen to his voice. she likes his presence. he makes some joke, saying that had he known all that sooner, he would have asked her out by now, and clara gets a little nervous energy at that. because if he was truly asking,,,, she would say yes. (and charlie is like,,,, “clara, i’ve clearly been asking for years.” but no, he hasn’t. he’s made jokes. for years. to which clara tosses back jokes. for years. there’s a little bit of a stupid argument over that - the married couple bickering that melts my heart.)
>> and damn, pitts needs to have more birthday parties, because cass gets the courage to ask meeks out on a date, and it’s actually a really cute scene, because meeks was psyching himself up to ask all night, too. cass beats him to it, and he laughs and gives a resounding yes! they dance together to the radio to celebrate their upcoming date <3. they plan it in between slices of cake that same night, and cass kisses him on the cheek before leaving the party. knox roasts meeks for not having been the one to make the first move, but gets dished back an equal helping when meeks says he hasn’t even spoken to chris yet,,,,, idiot.
and !!! okay !!!! so the boys restart the dead poets society, and you know that we are invited to join. finding a way to sneak off of campus nightly is not a problem i’ll currently recognize. we all join and we all bring poems!!!!
lindsay and cass bring shakespeare to read, clearly and they have heated debates with one of the boys (charlie, probably) about the quality of the shakespeare. he’s popular for a reason, charlie. but also, charlie can be a romantic, guys, and he actually reads/writes clara so. much. poetry. in the cave. it’s a little annoying. the rest of us have to stretch our lyrical prowess to create something dark and morbid enough to offset the tone. (neil is a good help if we beg him enough. mostly, though, he loves love and supports charlie’s endeavors).
also,,,, meeks is a ride or die; you need to look at his face whenever cass does anything. it’s like she’s his whole world. his sun and stars and everything in between.
and he. holds. hands. he rubs his thumb over your knuckles!!! he gently caresses! he has rough calluses and warm hands! he!
oh, and neil chronically gives lindsay his jacket. honestly,,,, it’s a conspiracy over whether she actually forgets or if she’s purposefully doing it. to horde neil’s jackets. cameron is the one to point it out, and pitts bonks him lightly on the head to shut him up. shhhh. no one needs to know. just let it happen.
oh! and sometimes, when we’re making our way to the cave, charlie jump-scares us, only to give clara a big hug in apology, and only to laugh in my face when i scream. (i don’t like it :( charlie exists to spite me) lindsay or cass have probably punched him at least once at this point (maybe the first time he did it? maybe both of you on separate occasions?) and it’s a learning curve, but he he figures out how to dodge your punches (but also,,,,, girl, teach me your form).
as a call back to the sweater thing that i mentioned earlier, for my birthday, pitts gives me on of his sweaters!!! it’s probably very thickly knitted (perhaps a turtleneck???) and green. you all tease me about it relentlessly, saying actually, we’d make a good couple, but i just stick my tongue out at you like i’m 6.
(and maybe i’m zooming through the timeline here, but this is getting long)
so neil joins the show! our show! (and just so you don’t have to worry, in this au, we disregard the tragic ending. fluff only, thanks) he gets the lead alongside lindsay and clara! i feel like lindsay is helena (it’s about the comedic timing) and clara is hermia. cass and i are in the wings, and we get to hide behind set pieces during the performances, playing silent games of like,,,,, stick, while waiting for our cues.
during this time, we see lots of surprise visits from chris, who is maybe helping in costuming or something. because she’s here and because knox has finally calmed down in his crush for her (it’s mY AU.i choose the coping mechanism), cass lets him know, and he comes over and has a few awkward conversations with her. cass and i get to bully knox over his inability to talk to girls. we may be friends now,,,, but we’re still going to bully him.
also, during this time, lindsay and neil’s already close relationship becomes a little more close, and they kiss a few more times, but it’s never quite what they were expecting. it wasn’t the butterflies. the explosion of feeling. they talk about it after the conclusion of the play, and realize that it’s looking for the wrong type of comfort in the right person. it’s all that close warmth,,, but the wrong kind of intimacy. what they need and what they think they want just aren’t aligning. but perhaps it’s the right person, just not the right time,,,,,
but throughout that ache, clara and cass are going on double dates - they’re just a lot of fun and a great way to ease into this new dynamic - and meeks and charlie keep trying to subtly outdo each other on every excursion. cass and clara are giving each other the look at each boy tries to make an even grander compliment to their date, and it usually ends in laughs.
meanwhile lindsay and i are threatening meeks and charlie, saying if anything happens to our friends, so help us gOD,,,,
and lol, on date nights i probably play poker with todd, cameron, knox, and pitts (lindsay and neil are studying lines, or sometimes they peek over our shoulders and give others hints) and as side bets, we make predictions about the dates - what happens, where you go, what idiot thing charlie’s going to do next. you know we have popcorn or chips for snacks, and at some point, we’re nearing the end of the ruffles potoato chip bag, and pitts just holds it above my head so he can finish it off without having to share. i threaten to obliterate his knee caps but never do. knox complains about wanting a short girlfriend. i tell him he’ll need stilts, then. now everyone is holding things above my head.
i am defeated.
okay, but by the end of junior year, things are pretty fun. senior year is much the same, so i’ll let your mind run rampant. here are the other ideas i ranted about earlier, so perhaps enjoy?
after;
but whatever becomes of us? clearly, movie logic says that we go away to college. i imagine clara and charlie do long distance - maybe charlie goes to california or something - and get this,,,, it actually works. a legendary couple lasts <3 (lara jean and peter kavinsky wHO?)
because of movie logic, cass and meeks go to the same college as clara, and they’re the cute on campus couple that everyone wants to be. imagine the study dates! falling asleep on your textbook and the other softly waking you up and leading you to bed.
i maybe go to a different college (but we keep in touch!) and i go with, get this,,,,,,,, knox overstreet. i can’t avoid this man,,,,,,, i bully him for decades. feel my wrath. but also! pitts and cameron go there, so i’m not totally lonely.
todd and lindsay go to the same college together and become ridiculously close. like, sibling material. these two are tight. (idk which college you want to choose - the one clara and cass go to, or the one i go to. pick your poison, bestie).
neil, however, goes abroad for college. i get scotland vibes, tbh, but europe in general works.
and when he comes back,,,,,,,,,, we all throw a huge “welcome back” party, and you know our track record with life changing parties....
lindsay and neil reunite, and that night, they go out to the roof to look at the stars again (someone's parents have to tragically die so we can keep one of the original houses for this scene. who is willing to sacrifice their parents for the full circle narrative (joking)??? ), and perhaps it’s for old times sake, or perhaps it’s from a warm and tense kind of electricity running through their veins, but they contemplate their place in the universe, and what that even is. they were kind of presumptuous in high school, thinking they had it all figured out, huh? somehow, lindsay brings up what happened between them junior year. how she’s thought about it, and how they both just wanted to know something beyond the self. lindsay says she know more of the world now - more of love and kindness and understanding - and it all collects around neil. a kind of “all that’s beyond my grasp.... is with you,” scenario. and so neil asks, “do you want to try it one more time?” and lindsay says yes, and when they kiss, it’s comfortable. and it’s new. and it’s on fire. and it’s brighter than a thousand suns. and it’s right - the right person, the right feeling, the right time.
and they get their romance!!!! at last!!!
so now there are triple dates, and i’m still playing poker with the other boys, only this time we’re on a team, and this time, we both steal the chip bag <3.
please add on your own thoughts!!! clearly, i love talking about our friendships, and extended dynamics a little too much, and i want to hear your thoughts!
