March Madness Prompts

March 8 - Lake Law and Order: SVU - Rolivia (This is my first time writing them so I hope it’s not too terrible)

Olivia and Amanda sat on the back porch of a cabin, staring off at the lake behind it, with mugs of warm apple cider in their hands and blankets over their laps. Their rocking chairs swayed slightly as they watched Noah and Jesse run around the yard between the cabin and lake. Liv placed a hand on Amanda’s knee.

“I’m sorry about what happened outside court,” Liv said. Amanda placed her hand over Liv’s and squeezed it.

“I am, too,” she said. “But it’s in the past. It isn’t like that was our first work fight.” She snorted. “The office is the office, and when we go home, we forget it.

“I know. Hey, Noah! Away from the lake!” Liv called out. The boy spun around.

“I wanna skip rocks, Mom!” He shouted across the distance between them.

“Only when Aunt Amanda or I are with you.”

“Fiiiine!” He ran away from the lake and chased Jesse, making her giggle and run. The moms smiled together.

“Just wait until Billie gets older,” Liv said. “We’ll have a full load.”

“I’m…okay with that,” Amanda said softly. She squeezed Liv’s hand again. “You know I’m in this, right?” Liv picked up Amanda’s hand and kissed it.

“I know,” she whispered. “I am, too.”

“You know we have to disclose this soon.”

“I know,” Liv nodded. “It just…didn’t really work out well the last time I did.”

“Well, I’m not him,” Amanda said. Liv looked at her and smiled warmly.

“I know.” She leaned over to Amanda’s chair and kissed her softly. “I can’t remember the last time I was this happy.”

“Me either. I thought…I thought it was going to be me, Jesse, and Billie forever. I didn’t know how I was going to handle it. But…together, I think we’re doing really well.” Liv raised her mug.

“Here’s for six months,” she said. Amanda clinked her mug to Olivia’s.

“We’re going to get in trouble for not telling sooner, aren’t we?”

“Yeah, we are,” Liv answered truthfully. “And one of us is going to get transferred.”

“If you’d told me that months ago, I would’ve said the job is too important,” Amanda said slowly. “I love my job. I love SVU as…as hard as it can be. But…”

“This is something,” Liv finished.

“It is,” Amanda replied. “And I have never been the one to say this, but I think…I think I’m ready for more.”

“More what?”

Amanda cleared her throat and looked over at the lake, then at the kids. “I love my girls, I love Noah…I love you. I want us all to be a family. One place, three kids…”

“You want to move into each other?” Liv said hesitantly.

“Do you?” Amanda asked. Liv went quiet for a while then turned to look at her girlfriend.

“Yeah,” she said in slight surprise. “I do. I want to be closer to the girls, and I want you to be closer to Noah. The older kids already get along so well. Noah treats Jesse like a little sister. And that baby…I want to watch her grow up. Watch her turn into a woman as beautiful as her mother.”

“Now you’re just buttering me up,” Amanda joked.

“Can’t you take a compliment?” “Not really. And you know it. And you’re no better at it than I am.”

“I guess we’ll have to work on that,” Olivia murmured. She took Amanda’s free hand. “We will. Together.”

“Yeah,” Amanda agreed. “Together.”

My love for Benoit Blanc knows no bounds. realised that edwin forgave simon before he left which freed simon and death came for him. edwin, who will never really be free of hell's shadow, who is out on technicalities and luck, freed the guy who put him there.

and it's just. simon whose insecurity and fear made him lash out on edwin, who stayed in hell with a punishment that may not have tormented him as much as edwin's, but who was there for all the while. who never really thought of leaving. whose salvation was edwin's words. who was punished and justly deserved to move on.

and there's edwin who despite having done nothing to deserve hell, lands up there on a technicality that makes him endure 70 years of, well, hell. whose first act after escaping it is to extend the kindness of companionship to another boy he knows will die like him. who never expected said boy to actually stick with him. who isn't really free of the fear of hell. who will never be sure his afterlife isn't hell because the bureaucracy of afterlife refuses to acknowledge their mistake or the unfairness of his death.

who despite it all, finds it in himself to understand and immediate apologise to simon, the one who inadvertently sentenced him to this. who knows simon must have endured suffering of his own and so extends his heartfelt solidarity. who knows that simon's feelings for him must have been his personal hell even before he died. who understands and forgives. and thus sets his killer free.

just. like with every individual character arc in the show I hope the goodness of his actions comes back to edwin. edwin who remains kind and good, no, makes the active effort to be kind and good. who may think he's doing all of that to gain brownie points and not get hell, as if he'd ever done anything to deserve it in the first place, but that's not the case. because he didn't have to be kind to simon. he didn't have to say he's sorry or say that simon's feelings were wrong. but he did. because he is kind and good. technically destined to hell or not.
