mickey doesn't read a lot, but I like to think his favorite book is the catcher in the rye. because one day ian brought him a copy and when mickey asked what the fuck, ian said that the main character reminded him of mickey. and mickey said that was gay as hell and brushed it off, but he read the book anyway and yeah, he kinda gets what ian was talking about. anyway I love mickey milkovich and holden caulfield and so does ian

listen, i know none of these are new takes but it’s on my mind and i mustshare.
so, we all know that s10 and s11 of shameless have their flaws, to say the least...however, hear me out...
mickey in s10/s11 is so very important to me. yes, he still does some “immature” things, but we can see how he’s grown and matured in such a deeper way, finally ready to just fully embrace who he is. it also feels like he finally gets to take a breathe for the first time in years.
it’s so prevalent in s10 through how much he fights for himself. most of his story arc has been him fighting for ian, but in this season, we finally get to see him fight for himself and refuse to settle for less than what he thinks he deserves...like mickey actually looking after himself? THAT is so beautiful to me
and in season 11, he is truly trying to make things work and to alter himself/his lifestyle to make ian happy. i mean, early seasons mickey would never show that he cares that much about something to actually put effort into it. and yes, he makes a ton of mistakes in that season, but he trys to fix it and puts forth an actual effort to live this new life for him and ian. and THAT is so very beautiful
he matured so much throughout the years and these seasons really reflect that growth in the good, bad, and the ugly ways.
however, what makes it so special is that, despite the fact that he still has these major issues in his life to tackle, it feels like he can still fucking breathe while doing so. like yes, he is struggling but for once, it is not all consuming. he was able to just exist as a person without having to constantly keep an eye over his shoulder or plan for the next fucking wrecking ball to crash into his life

Some gallavich x reader fluff?🥹
I got you anon <3 I threw some other shit in here too
++
male! reader
“ rock, paper, gun; shoot! — fuck! ”
mickey lost yet another match of his version of ‘ rock paper scissors ’ to kev, resulting in him standing up from his chair and picking it up, only to throw it someplace in complete anger. just like the sore loser he was.
“ HEY! ” veronica shouted, throwing a dishcloth at him, “ take that shit outside! don't come in here messin’ up my bar! ”
“ fuck your bar, ” mickey pointed at her, to which she reeled her head back in return; a ‘ I know he fucking didn't ’ look overtaking v's face before she looked to kevin, expecting him to say something before she leapt over that counter and strangled mickey her damn self.
“ — and fuck you. ” mickey turned to kevin, now pointing at him.
“ hey, whoa! kev's brows furrowed together solemnly. “ no need to get physical and talk to veronica that way, man! it's just a game. ”
“ a fucking game you're cheating at! ” mick’ smacked the table; leaning over it to get a nice, good, sarcastic smile brewin’ in the male's face. “ ‘cause you're too much of’a dumbass to actually win it over and over. ”
“ ian! ” veronica called to the red head who entered the bar, you trailing behind him. “ get your damn dog and put ‘im on a leash! he's throwing my chairs just because he's pissy that kev keeps beatin’ him at a stupid-fucking-game! ” she was now heatedly scrubbing at the counter top, new rag in hand swinging about aggressively. “ you men and your damn games. grow a pair! ”
you looked at veronica wide eyed, but said nothing. of course you weren't offended by her words, her aggression when she got infuriated just always caught you off guard.
ian sighed and walked over to mickey, who still was going on about losing the dumb game. “ mick’, come on. you can't be that mad over losing a game. ”
“ ian, ” mickey moved away from ian's hand, which had extended to grab at him, and made a gesturing motion towards kevin. “ he fucking cheated. there's no way he keeps keeping me at rock, paper, gun. absolutely no-fucking-way! ”
blinking once, you stared at mickey as if he grew another head. “ how does one cheat in rock, paper scissors- sorry, gun?. ”
“ I don't fucking know! ” the brunette threw his hands up, turning to you. “ he just did, okay?! he's a fucking cheater! ”
“ I beg to differ. ” ian rolled his eyes, now crossing his arms over his chest.
you shook your head as you saw mickey's anger increase. ian was not helping by disagreeing with you guys’ boyfriend.
so, you helped the solution the only way you knew how-
“ kev, ” kevin leaned over, looking around ian's body to make eye contact with you, letting out a ‘ huh? ’. “ ya’ should apologize to mickey. cheating isn't cool. ”
mickey and ian's argument that had started up seemed to stop at that. they both turned to look at you, faces mirroring surprise.
honestly, it was comical, but you kept a stoic face while staring at kevin. you knew he wouldn't catch on, but veronica should.
“ what? ” kevin scoffed.
“ I said, you should apologize. ” you shrugged, twisting your lips to the side; sliding your hands into the pockets of your jeans. “ mickey is upset you cheated. it's not cool to cheat. say sorry. ”
kevin gawked at you in clear offense, “ but I didn't cheat! it was just luck! you can't- ”
mickey looked smugly at ian, glad you were defending him, while the red head just looked at you as if you were insane.
“ oh for fuck sake- ” veronica's loud voice boomed throughout the bar, making kev nearly jump out of his skin. his gaze shifted to her, while her eyes turned to him in irritance. “ just say you're sorry! get this shit over with! I'm tired of this bull. ”
“ but v- ”
“ kevin ball. ” veronica's stern, motherly voice came out and kevin knew not to argue with her then. he pinched his lips together, before exhaling heavily through his nose out of annoyance, and turning to mickey.
the brunette was standing there, arms crossed, looking as smug as ever. he clearly was waiting for his apology.
“ I'm sorry. ” kevin stated, letting his fingers thrung out in exaggeration. “ there, I said it. I'm sorry I cheated. ”
mickey widely grinned, “ good- ” he then snatched the money that was displayed on the table, the loose bills they stacked beforehand for their previous bets. kevin stared wide-eyed as the shorter male pocketed them. “ thanks for the apology. now, I'm leavin’- ”
“ you cant just take my money! ” kev sat up straight, scoffing. “ I earned that fair and square! ”
“ you cheated, ” mickey shrugged, “ so it's my money. ”
that being said, the brunette waltzed towards the door of the bar with a cockiness in his step. kevin looked at you, only to stare disheartedly.
shit.
“ uh.. ” you chuckled, rubbing at the back of your neck sheepishly. “ i- um- bye! ” you took out of there faster than he could reply, leaving ian behind.
“ tell your boyfriends- ” ian turned to kevin once he began to speak, “ that there's no more free drinks in my bar. ”
“ did you really have to take his money? ” you huffed, trailing after mickey through your living room and following him to the kitchen. it was your place but he acted as if he owned it.
“ my money, ” mickey corrected, opening the top cabinet and snatching out a box of cinnamon toast crunch. “ he fucking cheated, so the cash is mine. it came out of my pocket to begin with. ”
you rolled your eyes, “ mick’, I know not all of that came from your pocket. you're not dumb enough to agree to a bet unless you're getting more money than you already had. ”
he glanced at you over his shoulder, “ so you callin’ me fuckin’ dumb or something? ”
one blink. two blinks. and then you're staring at him as if he's an actual idiot in that moment. “ that's not what I said at all- ”
“ you said I'm not dumb enough, so that's stating I'm somewhat dumb, just to clarify, right? ” as he argued, he had enough time to go to the fridge and retrieve the milk and pour it into his bowl. so now, he was smacking his cereal aggressively, while giving you a pointed stare.
“ can you not? ” ian sighed as he entered the kitchen, only to dump his phone onto the table so he could remove his hoodie. it was rather hot in your place. “ I'd really like to go a day without you running your mouth. ”
mickey looked at ian with a ‘ are you for real? ’ expression. “ so I run my mouth? ”
“ stop- ” he sighed.
“ no, no- ” mick’ sat his bowl down before gliding over to get in ian's personal space. “ I run my mouth? is it too much for you? ‘cause I could just fucking leave. ”
“ mickey- ” you tried to interfere, but neither of them let up.
the ginger pressed a hard palm to mickey's chest, forcefully backing him up. “ you're not fucking leaving. stop acting so childish! ”
you sighed, this time combing a hand through your hair as you became fed up with your two boyfriends. “ guys! ”
they still didn't bother to acknowledge you, though. mickey was now raising his voice as ian got in his face as well, and it was becoming ugly - you didn't want this leading to something more violent. so, you gritted your teeth, and inhaled.
“ GUYS! ” that finally grabbed their attention.
ian's head swiveled around so that he could look at you. mickey peered over ian's shoulder. you looked to be fuming, smaller fists clenched down at your sides and the space between your brows pinched. “ will you two knock it off?! ”
scoffing, mickey pushed ian back -to which the red head stumbled and glared at him-, only to look at you with disbelief. “ why the fuck am I gettin’ yelled at? he started it. ”
“ you both, ” you gave ian a look that told him he better not open his mouth, “ are being stupid right now. stop- and mickey, you're not dumb, it's just the way I worded my sentence. ”
picking his bowl of cereal back up, mickry rolled his shoulders back, mumbling under his breath. “ course I'm not dumb... I'm fucking smart. ”
you cracked a smile at that.
“ now, ” you pointed a finger to them both, raising your brows. “ no more fighting, right? let's just relax for once. ”
ian glanced at mickey, and mickey glanced at him- but neither said anything. ian then sighed and nodded, “ yeah, no more fighting. ”
“ good. ” you hummed, before shuffling over to ian and pecking him on the cheek, “ thank you. I don't like it when you two argue. ”
“ hey, ” you both looked to the brunette, who had an arm extended dramatically so and a distraught look on his face. “ the fuck am I, chopped liver? ”
a giggle escaped you, “ no! ” and you made your way over to mickey, only to kiss him on the cheek as well. but he scoffed for the hundredth time.
“ that's no fucking kiss- ” he muttered, only to pull you closer by binding his arm around your waist. “ come ‘ere. ”
the male pressed his lips greedily to yours, intaking your warmth and savoring your taste. you could taste the cinnamon-y sweetness on him from the cereal, and it made you grin.
“ I think I deserve one too, ” ian whispered as he came from behind, too hooking an arm around you. you parted from mickey to turn your head and smile at your other boyfriend.
“ I love you guys. ” you chuckled, kissing ian sweetly. he kissed back, softness to his touch.
“ we love you too, doll. ”

🎭 Gallavich Masquerade Event Prompts 🎭
Prompts for @gallavichthings Gallavich Masquerade Event!
Here are a selection of optional prompts that you can use for the Gallavich Masquerade Event! Interpret these however you like and feel free to use them as just a jumping off point, you don’t have to stick to the exact prompt!
Mickey comes out of juvie for the first time and feels more jealous that he realises. One glimpse of Ian just talking to Kash and Mickey knows he wants to take the next step. He decides to kiss Ian.
Despite the fact Mickey doesn’t want to move to the West Side, he adjusts to it surprisingly quicker than either of them would have imagined. Weirdly, Ian finds himself unhappy living there.
Sammi never reports Ian to the army. Instead of their date, Mickey suggests a trip. It’s nothing fancy - just a seedy motel - but it helps Ian all the same.
Ian doesn’t work at a regular club, it’s a club where everyone is in masks. But it doesn’t take Mickey long to track Ian down in the crowd, even if Ian wants to pretend he’s not who Mickey thinks he is.
Mickey and Ian have always been close friends as kids, when Mandy accuses Ian in s1 of messing with her, Mickey feels pressure to defend his sister but is there something else going on?
S6. Ian keeps getting random text messages from an unknown number who won’t give a name, but he’s feeling lonely so he responds. It’s strange but the texts remind him of Mickey. But Mickey’s in jail, he doesn’t have a phone. Or does he?
Fiona comes to stay with Ian and Mickey in their new West Side apartment. Ian goes through a bit of a depressive episode. Fiona gets an insight into how much Mickey cares for Ian and what married life looks like for them.
They don’t go through with the born free robbery because Lip and Mickey get in a car accident, Ian is angry that his husband is injured and that he could have been caught doing something illegal.
Early seasons - Ian’s been arrested for something he didn’t do. He was at a baseball game with Mickey, who still has their ticket stubs. But can Mickey bring himself to be Ian’s alibi? And will the cops even believe him?
Ian wants everything to go perfectly with Mickey once he gets out of jail in s10. He suggests they even hold off on the sex so they can have a few dates first. Mickey is sceptical but it turns out dating is kinda fun….
Post-finale, Mickey and Ian are contacted out of the blue via email to provide their security services to an up and coming company. They are very surprised when they show up for their first job and find that Svetlana is the manager.
S8. Ian gets involved with a rich, older man who offers to take him on a free trip to Mexico. He’s not going to turn down a free vacation, especially one to the same country Mickey is in. Obviously, Mexico’s a big place but it doesn’t stop Ian keeping an eye out….
Ian’s seen all different kinds of drunk Mickey over the years - angry, sleepy, loud, funny. But it turns out fancy cocktails on the West Side are bringing out a new drunk Mickey - flirty and sappy. Ian kinda loves it.
Mickey gets a deal instead of juvie - he has to complete summer school and accept tutoring. Ian manages to wrangle his way into being Mickey’s tutor. Ian is pleased to see just how smart Mickey is, while Mickey gets worried when he realises his feelings for Ian are deeper than he thought.
Early seasons - both of them secretly make a New Year’s resolution. What they don’t realise is that their resolutions have a lot of similarities…
The guard Mickey seduced to break out of jail the first time has discovered Ian and Mickey are married. She starts to send letters. Mickey brushes it off but Ian worries…has Mickey got a stalker?
When Ned dies, he leaves Ian some money in his will. Mickey thinks he should accept it, but Ian’s not so sure….
Ian injures himself during ROTC practice in the abandoned building, it’s up to Mickey to take care of him.
S4. Ian doesn’t want to be found but he can’t stop thinking about Mickey. So he’s sending anonymous letters every other day. Mickey knows the letters are from Ian but doesn’t know where he is. One day, Ian gives a PO Box address, Mickey writes back….
Ian and Mickey are both placed at Old Army. How long will it take for their coworkers to realise they’re in a relationship?
Operation Matchmaker a.k.a Ian and Mickey try to help Debbie and Sandy get back together. They may or may not be successful and they may or may not learn something about their own relationship in the process.
S11. It’s Ian who comes up with the idea of a prize for the winner of their stupid video game competitions but it’s Mickey who makes it interesting….
They get married at city hall. But Mickey’s acting weird….after some miscommunication, Ian figures out it’s because he wants a wedding.
Post-prison, s10. Ian notices Mickey is struggling adjust to finally being free.
Early seasons - It must be the great weed that Mickey had stolen from Iggy, that has to be the only reason he’s answering each and every stupid question Ian asks on a warm summer evening.

i feel like season 11 was clearly crafted just for the fans which is why it was so ooc:
the CONSTANT debbie slander (every. single. episode. it made me like some of my favs a bit less tbh).
the franny scenes (don’t give me wrong, she’s my girl, i LOVE her, but i feel like they used her for their anti-debbie propaganda and also she had such a big role compared to liam (1-7) which i LOVED because liam’s change annoyed me but also it was odd).
the gallavich fights
the galladads
the killing terry (🥳)
the lip defense depsite how many of his actions wouldn’t be defended by everyone in other seasons (his behavior was usually tolerated, but i feel like he wouldn’t have gotten all positive reactions).
the fact that it went from being 70% drama 30% comedy in season 1 to 20% drama 80% comedy (EVERYTHING was for shock value and comedic relief).
^ the making EVERY storyline a joke (even a plot about rape!)
the covid thing (i actually liked that, i like how shameless discusses real serious topics, but it was kinda annoying at times because they talked about it yet they didn’t)
the tami slander
the anti-woke shit
the ending. it was so so so so so obviously made for the viewers which is like, duh, who else, but also just the way that they wrapped this phenomenal, award-winning, tear-jerking series up was… meh
and like yeah, i loved some of these things, but some of it made it impossible to enjoy. c’mon, john wells, you made the best show ever but i still want to punch you in the fucking face.

My guilty pleasure is fridging. I know logically why this is not a healthy trope. On paper, I'm enlightened enough to know why this is bad. But...I still fucking love those stories where someone defends or rescues the other one.
Lately I've been wanting a good hurt/comfort Gallavich fic. I want to see Ian get jumped and Mickey finds out who did it and secretly goes after them. Ian finds out later that Mickey beat the crap out of the guy. Or Ian goes after Terry for beating up Mickey.
If anyone has any good recs let me know!

tagged by @callivich which im thankful for because im always ready to talk gallavich
What’s a fic you’ve read multiple times? Teenagers Scare the Living Shit Out of Me by Mellow_Yellow. I love this fic -- it's a great mystery, ian and mickey's relationship is very sweet but realistic. and i looooove mickey's uncle ronnie. also SPOILER but i do blame this fic for ruining tony for me lol. every time i see Tony on the show now im always side eyeing him haha.
What’s an idea you’d love to create if you had the time/inspiration? Probably a post-canon fic about Ian finding his way back to doing what he loves. I love EMT!Ian an dit makes me so sad that he didnt get to end the show that way. i'd want the fic to properly explore the barriers he runs into in becoming an EMT again as an ex-con. and i'd want it to explore ian and mickey's dynamic when it comes to ian's bipolar disorder now. seasons 4 and 5 are so good but they were obviously so tumultuous for both of them but i feel like seasons 10 and 11 they don't really ever talk about those seasons and how they've grown in that specific area. i think that would tie nicely into ian working to become an EMT again.
What’s something you’ve discovered since entering this fandom? A new trope you love? A different analysis of the show? Something else? I don't want to be super negative here but I will say when i first started dipping my toes into the shameless fandom i noticed a lot of hate for ian -- in fics and youtube comments, mostly. it confused me a lot because gallavich is such a popular ship that it made no sense to me how people could hate 1/2 of that ship. so any time i saw that level of hate directed toward ian, my love for ian kept growing until i have now become a staunch defender lol. but i have also come to realize that i think a lot of that came from people's intense love for Mickey and for Noel. and i know people held a lot of anger while the show was airing when Noel left the show. i can see how watching ian in seasons 6-8 move on without mickey would be frustrating. i really don't agree with any of that, but knowing where a lot of it comes from makes it easier to understand. (also noting that people could just be ableist dickheads, too, and to those people i say fuck you.) sorry if this question was supposed to be a positive one but that's my answer.
What’s an underrated trope or concept you’d like to see more of? maybe fics where we see mickey doing his research on bipolar disorder. he walks into the gallagher kitchen with so many bottles and vitamins and is spouting off drug facts like he's being tested on his knowledge. like, i just want to see him doing research for his boyfriend!
What’s your favourite season? And has this changed after multiple rewatches of the show? Arrghhh this is almost impossible to answer. I think overall that seasons 4 and 5 have the strongest writing. I would probably place season 4 slightly ahead of 5 purely for the rushed and chaotic ending of 5. Season 4 just hits so hard. But in terms of specifically Ian's story, i love season 6 and parts of season 7.
What’s a plot hole you wish had been answered or resolved? It's not exactly a plot hole but I kinda wish they brought Clayton back in some way, especially in the later seasons. (ok also this isn't gallavich related but wtf was that moment in season 6 when tony returned just to tell ian he was gay??? we never him again after that?? lol)
What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough? the scene in the military prison where ian's listening to his entire family talk about his mental state like he isn't sitting right there. my god that scene breaks me. ian's silence speaks so loudly. it makes so much sense why he runs away with monica shortly after. i kinda also wish someone explained to the gallaghers how hurtful it is for them to keep comparing ian to monica, that just because they're both bipolar it does not mean he's gonna do the same shit as her. i so wish there was way more understanding on their part, and to stop throwing that in his face.
What do you think is next for Ian and Mickey post-finale? I want them to continue settling into their life and finding out their comforts. maybe finding somewhere else to live. i looove ian but i wasn't fan of the way he signed for that apartment without speaking to mickey so i'd like to think they find somewhere they can both truly call home. and that ian can find his way back to healing and helping people.

Tagged by @golden28s for these Gallavich questions!
What’s a fic you’ve read more than once? If He's The Moon I'm Eclipsed, The Only Road That I Have Ever Known,
What’s a gifset you always have to reblog? dock sluts, club kiss, and mickey coming out.
What’s a headcanon you can’t stop thinking about? Today it's how Ian would feel after Carl gets into Westpoint. How Ian and Mickey go to therapy, and how Uncle Mickey is the BEST uncle to Franny. How Mickey and Tami are bffs.
What’s a fanart you love looking at? Love Love LOOVE any by @mikhailoisbaby @suzy-queued @darthvaders-wife and @doodlevich
What’s an idea you’d love to create if you had the time/inspiration? a few AUs I've got written down. I'll probably do them eventually.
What’s something you’ve discovered since entering this fandom? A new trope you love? A different analysis of the show? Something else? The character analyses of Debbie, Fiona, and Svetlana from @m4ndysk4nkovich @l0st4l1fe and @svetlanayevgenivna have conglomerated together because they all made me look at the three of them, and their relationships within the show and how the fandom is regarding all three of them vs the men.
Discovered a lot of new friends who I just adore.
New trope I love... nothing I didn't like already, just more intense with Gallavich lol
What’s an underrated trope or concept you’d like to see more of? only one bed, that's one of my favorites because it's so silly but it's also realistic sometimes.
What’s your favourite season? And has this changed after multiple rewatches of the show? I want to say season 4 but I haven't rewatched it entirely recently to see if that's still accurate.
What’s a plot hole you wish had been answered or resolved? Ian being groomed and no one addressing it except Lip that one time.
I'm sure there's more but that's the one that's always at the forefront.
What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough? Mickey trying to get Mandy to leave Kenyatta. I got into a fight with someone because they were like "Mickey is a hypocrite, he let Kenyatta beat his sister and let his dad rape his sister and he's good to women?"
I don't think Mickey knew about Terry doing that to Mandy, and they shouldn't have deleted that scene where Mickey was grabbing the knife to defend Mandy with when Kenyatta was yelling at her.
What line/dialogue/description from something else (a poem, a book, a tv show, a movie, or something else) do you feel describes Ian and Mickey’s relationship? "I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once."
What do you think is next for Ian and Mickey post-finale?
therapy bitches
pets
kids
weekly gallagher milkovich family game nights once they all get closer together.
Dont know who hasn't done these so @ian-galagher @mikhailoisbaby @creepkinginc @witchboywitchboywitchboy

hello! long-time lurker here. feeling very brave right now and very much felt encouraged by @callivich, so here i go.
Name: jade
Age: 20 sumn
What made you fall in love with Gallavich? aside from the fact that their love story probably covers every possible trope ever and noel and cam truly lived and breathed these characters into life, as a closeted kid who had once ‘loved’ and was extremely afraid to be found, i also deeply related to their initial struggles with the hiding and the pushing away. but the way ian and mickey made it ! and got married ! and things are generally looking up ! it’s such a joy to witness and fills me with great hope.
How long have you been a fan? a year and three months! i know, i know... i’m a baby. but there is nothing very baby about how this show and ship changed my brain chemistry because i have never devoted this much on anything until... well.
Favourite Gallavich moment/scene? oh man it’s like picking a favorite child... can i say everything? no? okay i would say s3e3, when they were running away from the cops after mickey headbutted n*d on the street. it’s so carefree, they were just two boys laughing and running without a hint of what’s to come and now i’m crying!
Favourite Shameless character apart from Ian and Mickey? fiona. is that a red flag? idk but i’ll defend her and let her knock me out actually.
Do you write or draw or make edits? i create when i feel too much or when an idea is ping ponging around my head and demands to be known by the world or when something i want to consume has not existed yet. so i have a very sporadic relationship with making stuff (also because college sucks). i (sort of) write and make video edits or memes.
Favourite type of Gallavich fics? i love AUs. god i LOVE aus. i prefer multi-chaps, but i also adore extremely witty one shots with good dialogue or banter. nothing in particular. just put those boys in situations and i will eat it up.
Favourite Gallavich quote? SO many great ones. my first one would always be the classic “what you and i have makes me free”, but aside from that there’s also “we got nothing to be ashamed of” “what fucking world do you live in?” because holy shit.
Anything else you’d like to share about yourself? head empty no thoughts. just want to say, every one on here is so fucking talented and welcoming. the words, the art, the fics, the gifs, the manips, the hilarious text posts, the metas, the podcasts, etc. i see you. you keep this community alive and it’s the most beautiful thing i’ve ever seen. and i’m so, so grateful. i internally squeal every time someone makes something because wow i get these treasures for free. all for the love of some silly lil boys. wonderful, wonderful gift. i am a chronic introvert folks and is a very awkward human and sometimes i still feel shy but really, all i want to do is scream at you for how great you all are.

I see a lot of season 6 talk recently and tbh it's an interesting one because rewatching season 6 can be difficult. Because it actually is so hard to have to sit through the anti-mickey rhetoric that the writers were forcing, but watching Ian become an EMT and learn to accept his bipolar is so beautiful (Caleb can choke but like the rest of it).
I feel like people have this idea that if you criticise anything about season 6 then you hate all of it and you're completely writing off the whole thing, but I think both ideas can exist together tbh. Like i loved watching Ian become and EMT and come back to himself, but at the same time, I really had no interest in watching him in another relationship at that point tbh, it seemed like it was just too soon and they forced it simply because they wanted to make mickey a terrible villain. Which is painful to watch after they'd spent 5 seasons building a complex, flawed, loving, multi-faceted character only to minimise him to an abusive thug just because of a BTS issue with cast and showrunners. And it's okay to not like that imo.
But there is also a beautiful and important story about Ian finding himself again, and watching him accept his bipolar. Like the joy that scene where he talks about it with the rest of the EMT's gives me is insane it's sUCH beautiful scene.
Anyway what I'm saying is I don't think one opinion cancels out the other. I don't think voicing criticisms of mickey's characterisation or some of Ian's actions means that you're writing off the whole season, or that you're villainising Ian's whole character, or acting like mickey was perfect. In the same way that loving Ian's storyline doesn't mean that you have to agree with or even enjoy every part of the season. If you do then cool! There is a lot to love and defend about it. But it's okay that people don't like elements of it.
There are parts that are not nice to sit through as a Gallavich fan imo. And I think it's okay that a season that doesn't feature your favourite character isn't your favourite season. And it doesn't mean you're writing off the journey of self acceptance Ian goes through or that you're a bad fan or whatever. And it's okay if you loved the season because of that journey. I'll agree that there probably are some people who are extreme on both sides but I just don't think you have to be one or the other.
There are great parts to talk about but it's okay to talk about the flaws and the uncomfortable parts too.

folks i am bored and i've been mostly lurking around here for a while now and i wanna start interacting more so :D thank u to the wonderful @callivich for this little thing 🤍
Name: ajax
Age: 20-something
What made you fall in love with Gallavich? is it cheesy to say just generally their growth.. idk i was a confused queer teenager when i started watching their whole story has always been a massive comfort i think
How long have you been a fan? long..... i started watching when season 6 was airing so like 7 years ? wow that is long . i stopped watching for a few years during The Mickey Drought and finally went and watched everything i missed a few months ago and now i am back babey!!
Favourite Gallavich moment/scene? OH MAN . i don't even know. maybe The 5x10 scene ???? maybe just the whole of 10x12 (special shoutout to 'look.. i love you. i love you' that changed my life a little bit I think). also 4x11 is very dear to me
Favourite Shameless character apart from Ian and Mickey? lip is actually my second favourite character after mickey ! sorry ian !!! i think lip is just such a wonderful 10/10 realistic character and i will defend him to my grave. i also probably relate to him a bit too much (red flag?)
Do you write or draw or make edits? no.. i have many thoughts and ideas but they very rarely leave my head. however every content creator in this fandom you have my entire heart you are wonderful these are for you 🤍🫂💐🍬
Favourite type of Gallavich fics? personally i am a canon-verse > au kinda guy. some of my all-time favourite fics are aus though!! i am a sucker for hurt/comfort fics about healing too (is that a another red flag? probably.)
Favourite Gallavich quote? idk if i can pick one so i will go with the simple : 'i love you, mickey milkovich. more than anything' do i even need to elaborate.. kinda wish mick let ian finish his silly little proposal speech he is cute
this was fun 😚 turns out i have a terrible memory of scenes/quotes though

Gallavich Tropes: End Of The World
Tumblr media
Prompts for fics, headcanons, or discussion, art, etc. Interpret these however you like and feel free to use them as just a jumping off point, you don’t have to stick to the exact prompt! If any fics like any of these have already been written, please feel free to recommend them to me!
It’s the final transport out of the zombie-ridden South Side. Mickey is more than ready to get the hell outta dodge. But when he sees the Gallaghers, he notices that one is missing - Ian. When he asks what happened, Fiona says they don’t know…just that he said he couldn’t go without something. Or someone, Mickey thinks. Through some fucked up chain of events, Ian is staying behind to find Mickey. Well fuck…..Mickey hugs Mandy goodbye and jumps off the transport. Everyone is in shock but Mickey doesn’t have time to dwell on that, he needs to find Ian. ASAP.
Who would have thought the end of the world would be boring? At least, it is to Mickey. Nothin’ but a lotta waiting around for the final day. And if they’re all gonna die….he might as well do whatever he wants. That means hooking up with the hot redhead he’s seen around the neighbourhood. He’s always pretended to ignore Ian but, now? Well, he’s got nothing to lose. They enter into a very hot sexual relationship but then the world doesn’t end. And suddenly all those fears Mickey had, that disappeared when he thought he was gonna die? Well, they’re back in full force.
Demons everywhere, there’s no stopping them. The government advice is to stay indoors at night and to be careful around strangers. The thing is, Ian is an EMT and he’s high risk of encountering a demon. But so far, he’s been ok. He tells Mickey he has nothing to worry about. Until, one night, Ian doesn’t come home and Mickey is forced to go out into the night and find Ian.
When Ian hears that the street the Milkovich house is on has been declared a ‘no go zone’, he’s heartbroken. Those zones mean no survivors. But he just can’t believe Mickey and Mandy are gone. Then he gets a text message from an unknown number. Mickey’s alive and he needs Ian’s help…..
It’s been a whole year since Ian ran away to join the army and in that time the world’s gone to shit. The apocalypse is raging and the army is getting its ass kicked. Ian is now an officer and when the government reintroduces the draft, he finds himself training a group of conscripts - one of which is a very familiar face. Mickey hates being conscripted into the army but he’s extremely pleased to see Ian again.
The remaining residents of the South Side have banded together to defend their neighbourhood from monsters. When they begin to run low on supplies, they draw straws to decide which one of the adults will venture into the unsafe areas of Chicago to gather more provisions. Mickey is chosen and he’s not bothered about going alone - he’s not scared of what’s out there. As he’s about to leave, a very eager Ian Gallagher turns up and volunteers to go with him. He barely knows the guy and doesn’t fancy playing babysitter to someone who probably knows nothing about fighting. But Ian is dead set on coming with him and he turns out to be tougher than Mickey imagined….
When the apocalypse hits, Ian knows he has to get back to Chicago - where things are very, very bad. He’s long since lost track of Monica and he misses his family. Only problem is, he’s several states away and there are no cars heading towards Illinois because no one wants to drive towards the danger. He fears he’ll never be able to hitchhike home. That is, until a beat up vehicle finally stops and gives him a ride. The driver, Mickey, is also heading back to Chicago. As they make their way to their home city, they start to fall in love. But what happens when they finally get there? Can their new relationship survive as they have to fight for their lives?
As if the end of the world wasn’t bad enough, Ian has been kidnapped by Terry Milkovich and is forced to provide medical care to his injured son, Mickey. With hospitals impossible to get to, Ian is one of the few in his neighbourhood with any medical experience. The last thing he wants to do is look after a (probably) homophobic and (definitely) cranky Milkovich. But the more time he spends with Mickey, the more he begins to like him….
Cities destroyed, the world rebuilding….it’s a strange time to be alive. Two person teams are put in place to explore and record certain areas deemed to be dangerous. It’s easy work for good money. Ian is excited to do his job and do it well. But he’s paired with a guy who seems to be a wild card. He’s not interested in rules or what they’re supposed to be doing. No, Mickey wants to go outside of their zone and try and find anything worth selling. Ian finds himself following, if only to make sure Mickey doesn’t die. As they make their way through the broken city of Chicago, just the two of them….Ian finds himself more and more attracted to Mickey’s special brand of recklessness.
When the apocalypse happened, Mickey - like many other children - was shipped off to a foster home outside Chicago. He vaguely remembers his siblings, but life in the middle of nowhere with Ned has been basically all he knows. As the world starts to rebuild, Mickey is now a teenager heading into his twenties. When Ned hires a worker of a similar age to him, things start to change on the farm. Ian ran away from his foster home and has lived a much different life to Mickey in the dangerous city. However, he wants to try and get a proper job. But neither of them can ignore the instant attraction and they struggle to understand their new feelings.
Just as Ian is reunited with Mickey in prison, the world goes to shit. As the outside world breaks down, the prison guards are recruited to fight and the prisoners are left to fend for themselves. Mickey thinks their next steps should be obvious - grab what they can use and run far away from the danger. But there’s one problem - Ian needs to know the rest of his family are safe. Reluctantly, Mickey agrees that they should see if they can find them. But will they find the rest of the Gallaghers? Or will their reunion be cut tragically short?
Mickey finds himself awaking from a coma in an abandoned, half destroyed hospital. The world has changed drastically since he was last conscious and he has no idea what has happened. Ian, meanwhile, is taking his regular trip to the hospital where he gathers supplies and checks on the last coma patient on tenth floor. He’s shocked to see the man who he’s been caring for is awake and not only that, he wants to get the hell out of there and that includes away from Ian. But Mickey doesn’t realise how things have changed and he’s not prepared for what’s out there.
Holed up in a grocery store, Mickey doesn’t think there’s anyone left alive nearby. When he finds an old radio, he turns it on just for the hell of it and is surprised when a voice comes through. The man introduces himself as Ian and says he’s also barricaded in a safe place alone. They talk and for the first time in a long while, Mickey doesn’t feel so lonely. When Ian suggests they meet up and work together to survive, Mickey isn’t so sure. In fact, he’s rather paranoid - can he trust Ian? Or will this guy take one look at all Mickey’s supplies and just kill him for it?
Post s5/s6. When the apocalypse hits, both Ian and Mickey try to find each other despite being broken up. But they can’t. Sometime later, Ian is running low on his medication and seeks out various black market dealers but none can help. When Mickey, who is dabbling in the black market, hears of this request for certain medications - he is instantly on alert. The medications are very familiar and he wonders if the person looking for them is Ian. Curious, he sets up a meeting and is overjoyed when he sees it is Ian. However, things are not as straightforward as he hoped - Ian has a boyfriend. Between that and the apocalypse, can they find their way back together?

i hate how shallow a lot of the fandom think’s debbie gallagher is. i hate it so much.
like, if there’s one thing that i always keep in mind while really consuming any media, it’s that you have to try to see character’s from different perspectives and understand their complexity. and debbie gallagher is so fucking complex, yet so simple.
every single problem she has in her teenage/adult life can be traced back to one thing: her parents.
this girl was written so beautifully and so tragically at the same time and some misogynistic assholes who don’t bother to read into anything decide to insult her writing, then other people who don’t give a shit agree, and suddenly she get’s a reputation for the stupidest shit.
it’s like- yeah, she did some dumb shit as a teenager. but y’know who else did? lip. and ian, and carl, and although we didn’t see it i can guarantee you fiona, too.
and i get it, kinda. i mean what she did with the whole atm cards thing in season 10 sucked. and i made a whole post about matty and julia, but out of EVERY SINGLE THING that EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER has done, you deem debbie’s actions the worst?? not frank’s, monica’s, terry’s, sammi’s, hell, even lip and fiona have done some fucked up shit that many people choose to ignore (i’ll get into that sometime).
and no, i can’t defend everything she’s done. but you know what else i can’t defend? LITERALLY ANY OF THE OTHER CHARACTERS IN THE SHOW’S ACTIONS. she isn’t the only one who’s done fucked up shit, yet she’s one of the only one’s who’s actually criticized, and most of the people who criticize her are, dare i say, cisgender men.
also, she’s not a shitty mom. i mean, by shameless standards at least. i’m tired of those gallavich stans saying that debbie would run off with heidi and leave franny in ian and mickey’s care because anyone who say’s that clearly never watched 11x08. there’s an entire scene that proves that debbie would NEVER DO THAT but y’all choose to ignore that because yet again, people ignore her entire plot. they only focus on fanon.
newsflash! debbie took care of franny mostly by herself (every bit of help she got was offered), and she stuck by her even when times were tough. she considered leaving franny ONCE but immediately regretted it. y’know why? because she was fucking 15. her brain wasn’t fully developed and she wasn’t capable of making completely logical decisions. she didn’t leave fiona to raise franny so stop fucking acting like she did because fiona and franny barely have any scenes together. and debbie didn’t want fiona near franny/fiona to ride in the ambulance which is like totally reasonable??? i mean, yeah, fiona was right, having a baby at 15 isn’t a great decision, but it’s debbie’s decision. fiona said she wouldn’t help her at all then proceeds to try to help like no wonder debbie doesn’t want fiona’s help, she’s fucking scared! she’s still a kid herself. i have such mixed feelings about debbie and fiona in season 6 but i think they’re both pretty valid in that season.
also, debbie’s whole thing is that she sticks by people. and yeah, she says some weird twisted things on impulse at times but she loves her family. that’s like- the whole point of debbie in season 11.
anyway that was my weird rant about debbie

Alicia 🖤 how are you today my love? Any fun plans for the weekend?
Time for Gallavich wedding headcanons: 1. Besides edible boxers from Carl and the honeymoon Car from Liam, what wedding gifts do they get? 2. What flavor was their wedding cake? 3. How the fuck do they have 120 guests at the wedding? Who are they inviting? (only to claim they have no friends a season later?) 4. Why did Ian say Mickey and not Mikhailo? 5. What's one thing in the wedding that way important to Ian? (Chiavari chairs level important)
Heya, my grandma turns 85 next week! We're having her party tonight, And tomorrow I'm going to a potluck
1. Money. People probably just kinda threw money at them. What do you get for two dudes who don't have a house and decided they were getting married like a month ago?? I do think Mickey stole got Ian a new watch, and Ian probably got Mickey a new gun or a new pair of timberlands or something
2. Chocolate, these boys have a sweet tooth
3. I think some of them were ex parolees, some were gay Jesus groupies. I think all the firefighters and EMTs except Caleb came because they all liked Ian lots and think what their bro did to him was really shitty!!! Ian's himbo firefighter friends may only exist in my brain but they're important. Anyway, Tony the cop came, probably also invited that police officer who was married to Carlos. Kermit came and dragged tommy with him, plus a few other alibi regulars. Some of Mickey's cousins who still like him, some extended Gallagher family members. I think that in season eleven they wanted gay friends, which still doesn't make sense because with 120 people SOME of them were probably gay, but hey, whatever shameless, you do you
4. Oh this is a good one. I think it is, genuinely, because he's always gonna be Mickey to Ian. Mikhailo is his past, it's what he was known as in prison, it's what his mom named him, it's what all his ukraninan extended family insist on calling him. To Ian, he's Mickey, his Mickey who's been there through the worst and came out for him. He's Mickey, and he wakes up with Ian every morning and gives him morning breath kisses and let's Ian put his freezing cold toes beneath his thighs. He's Mickey and he will defend Ian from his family, but also defend his family at the drop of a hat.hes Mickey, and he's Ian's, forever. I definetly think he used mikhailo later tho
5. Hm... I think for Ian it was important to have someone from a church marry them. Ian has a complicated relationship with religion, and so does Mickey, but Ian really didn't want one of their friends to just get ordained and do the wedding, he wanted a minister. Other than that, probably the food. The Gallaghers believe food is love and a good family meal is vital to a good life. They had family dinner when nothing else was going right for them, Ian makes sure the food at his wedding is good and tasty and there's enough for everyone.
