Es ist genau dieser Gedanke, der den Kern von Polaris' drittem Album Fatalism ausmacht. CULTURA: domenica a Giardini Naxos si presenta il secondo numero della rivista letteraria “Naxos"
Giardini Naxos (Me), 22 ottobre 2022 – Domenica 23 ottobre, alle ore 18 (Lido di Naxos), sarà presentato il secondo numero di “Naxos. Rivista di Storia, Arti e Narrazioni”, una pubblicazione diretta dal giornalista Fernando Massimo Adonia e legata a doppio filo al festival NaxosLegge, del quale riunisce i contributi e gli interventi degli autori ospiti. Anche qui è presente il tema dei “Corpi”, parola guida delle decine di incontri, performance e dibattiti che hanno animato l’edizione 2022 della rassegna ideata e diretta da Fulvia Toscano che illustrerà la rivista insieme con l’artista Enzo Rovella.
In copertina il titolo rievoca i due autori al centro degli eventi di NaxosLegge 2022, i poeti Pound e Pasolini, protagonisiti della storica intervista Rai del 1968 ideata dal giornalista Vanni Ronsisvalle, qui intervistato da Andrea Giuseppe Cerra. “Due uomini – spiega nell’introduzione Adonia - che hanno pagato con il dolore della carne una chiarezza di vedute destinata, oggi come allora, a produrre scandalo. Il poeta americano ha subìto l’umiliazione disumana della gabbia; il genio friulano ha lasciato questo mondo tra i misteri della cronaca più nera”.
Completano la pubblicazione i contributi di Davide Brullo, Luca Gallesi, Marco Lino Leonardi, Dora Marchese, Enrico Nicosia, Isidoro Pennisi, Dario Tomasello, Katia Trifirò. Mentre, sul tema dell’edizione 2021, i “Limiti”, scrivono alcuni degli autori ospiti lo scorso anno: Giulio Maria Chiodi, Nicolò Fornasir, Serge Latouche, Andrea Zhok, Giuseppe Conte, Gianluca Furnari, Francesca Serragnoli Completano la rivista un racconto di Marinella Fiume, una recensione di Danilo Breschi e lo studio di Daniele Macris sugli elementi bizantini nel Val Demone.

As the excitement rises and the countdown begins for the release of POLARIS' second studio album, 'The Death Of Me', out next week on February 21 via SharpTone Records & Resist Records, the band reveal their heaviest song to date, 'Landmine'. 'Landmine' is a song that faces that mid-20s realisation that the universe doesn’t owe you anything and you’re going to have to fend for yourself.
"I think we all reach a point sometime in our late adolescence or early adulthood where we finally realise the world doesn't just exist to serve us as individuals, and never did. A realisation that maybe you're not as special and unique as you were made to feel as a kid - you're not the star of everyone's movie, only your own little life. Ultimately no one else cares if you succeed or fail, and no one is going to keep picking you up and dusting you off and pointing you in the right direction when you screw up. "Landmine" is a nihilistic, sarcastic celebration of accepting all of that" explains Daniel Furnari.

It's been two years since POLARIS released their ARIA-nominated, Top 10 debut, 'The Mortal Coil' which introduced the group to legions of fans around the country and, thanks to an extensive international touring schedule, the world. When it came time to make their new album, 'The Death Of Me', the Sydney outfit knew they had a tall order on their hands.
POLARIS returned to the house in the small South Coast town of Mollymook where they made 'The Mortal Coil', converting it into a temporary studio. The familiar surrounds acted as something of a refuge after the high-pressure claustrophobia of touring.
Accompanying the band was their front of house sound engineer, Lance Prenc, and long-time friend Scott Simpson (of Melbourne labelmates ALPHA WOLF), both of whom co-produced the album with the band.
In the two years since 'The Mortal Coil', POLARIS embarked on three sold-out headlining tours of Australia, as well as supporting ARCHITECTS and PARKWAY DRIVE around the country; five runs throughout Europe (including a series of arena shows supporting ARCHITECTS and a slew of high-profile summer festival spots); three separate US tours; not to mention performing at Download Festival and Unify Gathering in Australia. Somewhere in there, the quintet found time to write 'The Death Of Me'.

Polaris- The Death Of Me

Sydney’s metalcore outfit Polaris are back with the their eagerly anticipated album ‘The Death Of Me’ 
The band have already set the bar very high with their previous record ‘The Mortal Coil’ and to maintain that they had to create a record just as good. 
Pray For Rain kicks off the album in true style, a mellow build up that bursts into a typically ferocious more heavier sound.  A great opener which that lets the listener know what they’re in for. Hypermania is a fast paced song that could easily fit in the old school California punk scene; It’s loud throughout and the guitars are huge.
If you were going to introduce a friend to Polaris I would imagine Masochist would be the first song you would recommend. A song that delivers on every level. It starts with another mellow build up of vocals and guitar that bursts into life with a catchy chorus. Drummer and lyricist Daniel Furnari has put together some of his best lyrics in this song; ‘I’ve got this cold black silhouette hanging like a marionette casting a shadow, a shade over me’. You can feel every word and with Jamie Halis’ amazing vocals they do those lyrics justice.

Landmine is up next and the guitars totally rip, it’s an energetic song not too dissimilar to Hypermania. Vegabond is a step away from what you’ve been hearing so far, there is less emphasis on the guitars and more about the huge chorus. It’s very different from anything else on the record and maybe more of a poppier sound but somehow it fits. Creatures of habit  is one of the weaker songs on the record but there is still some fantastic guitar work throughout with some nice breakdowns. 
Above my head is a real highlight, as well as one of the most catchiest choruses on the record the bridge is also one of the best i’ve heard in any metalcore song, ever. Immediately after the song finishes you want to hit that replay button.  Martyr is a step away from the typical signature Polaris sound and is more of a metalcore ballad (if there is such a thing). Hallis shows off his clean vocals and builds up to a more familiar Polaris sound, you can just imagine how good this song would be live. 
As we get closer to the end of the album All of this is fleeting is a song that will keep your attention, it opens with a lovely melodic riff and and plenty of energy that will keep you gripped wanting more. The Descent ends the album and is another banger. It captures all the fantastic elements you’ve heard in this album;  the energy, the emotion and all the epic feels. 
Polaris will be on the tip of every metalcore fan’s tongue over the foreseeable future and rightly so. The songs are very well written and you call tell they’ve put absolutely everything into this record.
‘The Death Of Me’ is a record showing new influences, experimentation, maturity but still staying true to their roots. It is without doubt a masterpiece from start to finish.

United States CV 12-01542 was a 2012 United States District Court for the Northern District of California civil court case. The case was brought by Robin Hood against the United States government for allegedly violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). Hood filed the case on behalf of himself and others, alleging that the United States government had violated the RICO act, stating that he and others had been "robbed by banks, attorneys and the government they tried to support". TAURUS: United States v. Ninety-Five Barrels Alleged Apple Cider Vinegar (1924)
Wikipedia: United States v. Ninety-Five Barrels Alleged Apple Cider Vinegar, 265 U.S. 438 (1924), was an in rem case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held that apple cider vinegar is mislabeled when that vinegar is made from dried apples. Quartz: On a blazing hot afternoon in July 1960, three armed US marshals raided a casino lobby in Sparks, Nevada, and proceeded to seize a golden statue of a rooster. Invited onlookers jeered and hissed as the agents confiscated the statue, whose attorney decried a “colossal miscarriage of justice.”
The renegade fowl in question was a nine-and-a-half-inch-tall, 14-pound bird made of solid 18-karat gold. Catadores de material reciclável ganham máscaras com sorrisos
Com a pandemia do novo coronavírus, as máscaras se tornaram item essencial e importante de proteção, porém elas podem ser associadas a sentimentos negativos, como tristeza e medo.
A partir desta observação, o produtor Conrado da Luz e o publicitário Gabriel Almeida tiveram a ideia de convidar artistas visuais de diferentes linguagens para estampar sorrisos em máscaras de tecido, e assim passar uma mensagem positiva, de alegria e esperança.

Este é o conceito do movimento “Contagiando Sorrisos”, que conscientiza para o uso de máscaras com desenhos criados por artistas plásticos, quadrinistas, cartunistas, ilustradores, grafiteiros, entre outros.
A distribuição das máscaras é gratuita e realizada em ações pontuais, direcionadas a trabalhadores de serviços essenciais e pessoas em estado de fragilidade social.
Depois de serem distribuídas em São Paulo, as máscaras vão ser entregues para os profissionais da reciclagem em Recife.
Contagiando Sorrisos
O Contagiando Sorrisos é um projeto filantrópico, que visa destinar 100% dos recursos arrecadados por meio de empresas apoiadoras, como a Klabin, à produção e doações do maior número possível de máscaras com sorrisos.
“Nesse atual momento, a gente ficou pensando em como desenvolver uma ação para ajudar o mundo nesse problema da pandemia, mas sem pensar em vender para uma determinada marca, mas sim fazer algo diferenciado”, comenta Conrado da Luz.
Além dos artistas, estão trabalhando voluntariamente nesta iniciativa as agências Remix Promo Criativa, Hubox Marketing Digital e Lide Multimídia – Assessoria de Comunicação, da consultoria Estesia Business Inovation e da Lacini – Coletivo Audiovisual.
“Durante esse período de tanta complexidade e insegurança, vemos a importância das alianças entre diferentes setores, para amenizar os efeitos da pandemia, que são bem maiores em pessoas de vulnerabilidade social”, comenta Fichtler.
“Quando chegou a história de usar máscara de tecido como alternativa, na hora me veio a ideia do sorriso, da alegria que ele transmite. Isso me contagiou e compartilhei esse conceito com pessoas que passaram a integrar o projeto. E a ideia não parou mais. Essas pessoas estão trabalhando com satisfação para ajudar o próximo. Isso é muito gratificante”, comemora Conrado.

Contagiando Sorrisos já conta com mais de 40 artistas participantes, incluindo nomes conhecidos nacionalmente, que doaram suas obras ao projeto. Polaris Debut Hard-Hitting Second Single “Hypermania”

Ahead of the release of their forthcoming album The Death Of Me (due out February 21st via Sharptone Records), emerging metalcore outfit Polaris has just debuted their second new single.
Following the release of “Masochist,” today the Australian act has dropped their punishing new track “Hypermania.”
Detailing their lastest song, drummer Daniel Furnari said, “‘Hypermania’ is a song about losing your grip on reality, questioning your sanity, and feeling like you’re on the verge of an explosion all the time. Paranoia, mood swings, white-knuckling your way through the day just barely holding it together.”
Furnari went on to add, “The whole lyrical direction was inspired very directly by the music itself. Rick [Schneider, guitar] has this knack for writing these kind of Southern-hardcore-meets-nu-metal riffs that no one else in the band could write, stuff that’s really noisy, abrasive and discordant, but also tight and bouncy, and that’s where this song began. We started adding this song to our live set towards the end of last year and the energy from the crowd has been batshit crazy every time we’ve played it. The internet has been starting to demand pretty firmly that we release it, and we’ve been itching to get it out for everyone to finally hear it properly, so here it is!”

The best part about end of tour stops is the energy you feel from the bands performing. They’ve reached the end of a long journey after weeks of touring and always want to end at their very best, giving it all they have on the stage. And that’s exactly what was happening at House of Blues Orlando on November 1st. Headliners, Wage War, were closing their tour in the Orlando area as a “hometown” show. All of their friends and family were there and you felt this was going to be something extremely special to see. And it was.
Opening up the show was Dayseeker. The California hardcore band formed in 2012. The band signed with InVogue Records and released their first album What It Means to Be Defeated in 2013. The band toured extensively supporting the album before going back into the studio. Their second album Origin reached #20 on the U.S. Heatseeker Album charts. They signed with Spinefarm Records for their next album, Dreaming Is Sinking/Walking Is Rising that hit #11 on the U.S. Heatseeker Album charts. Dayseeker released their fourth album Sleeptalk on September 27, 2019, which peeked at #3 on the U.S. Heatseeker Album charts. Dayseeker is Rory Rodriguez (vocals), Gino Sgambelluri (guitar), Mike Karle (drums), and Ramone Valerio (bass).

Dayseeker came out to a tremendous roar from the crowd. It may have been the loudest cheers I’ve heard for an opening band. It was packed elbow to elbow at the House of Blues Orlando and there were many Dayseeker fans. Rory looked emotional and surprised by the ovation they received when they got on stage. They opened up with “Drunk” from Sleeptalk. Rory‘s soft vocals were beautiful along with the musical accompaniment. Non-fans may have been confused by the soft opening, but it didn’t last long when Dayseeker let it rip mid-song, which ran chills up my arms. Rory was very grateful to the fans for their love and support during their set. I was beyond impressed with his vocal range. Gino moved around the stage playing hard and providing backup vocals. Ramone was in his groove, keeping a calm demeanor playing bass. Mike was hardcore behind the drums. The band had the crowd moshing during “Sleep in the Sea Pt. II”. Rory got the crowd engaged to light up the floor with their phones during their set. The band used a lot of blues and purple lighting throughout their set. It was a very impressive and solid performance by Dayseeker and the crowd cheered in agreement. Next up was the Australian metalcore band Polaris. The band from Syndey formed in 2012 and released their first EP Dichotomy independently in 2013. The went on to release their second EP The Guilt & The Grief independently in 2016. The band was signed by SharpTone Records and in 2017 released their debut album The Mortal Coil. The album received fantastic reviews and was nominated for an Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) music award in 2018. In the same year, Polaris made their first tour across North America part with Gideon and the other half with headliner fellow Australians Parkway Drive. Polaris is Jamie Hails (vocals), Ryan Siew (lead guitar), Rick Schneider (rhythm guitar), Jake Steinhauser (bass), and Daniel Furnari (drums).

Unlike Dayseeker who started off soft, Polaris was all in from the start with “The Remedy” off The Mortal Coil. Jamie has beautiful transitions from screaming to clean vocals with true power behind them. Ryan and Rick moved around often while they played as did Jake. All three were caught up in the music and having fun. Daniel also played hard but seemed composed behind the drums. The band played with flashing lights, strobes, and backlighting providing us with silhouettes of the band at certain times. Jamie urged the crowd to mosh and crowd surf and the crowd surfers started to come over the barricade. Polaris provided an intense, mosh-worthy performance and the crowd cheered them on through their set and when they wrapped up. Next to the stage was the Ohio metalcore band Like Moths to Flames. The band formed in 2010 and didn’t waste time in releasing music demos. They caught the attention of Rise Records who signed up to their label. Within the same year, the band released their first EP Sweet Talker. From there it was full steam ahead on touring and then back in the studio to release their first studio album in 2011 When We Don’t Exist. The band continued on releasing two more studio albums, an EP, and then their latest studio album, Dark Divine, in 2017. The band even released Dark Divine Reimagined EP in 2018, which was an acoustic version of some of their tracks from Dark Divine. The band left Rise Records and recently signed with UNFD releasing the singles “All That You Lost” and “Smoke and Mirrors”. Like Moths to Flames is Chris Roetter (vocals), Aaron Evans (bass), Jeremy Smith (lead guitar),and Zach Pishney (rhythm guitar).

When Like Moths to Flames took the stage the crowd went ballistic. The word I’d use to define their performance is intensity. The band was hardcore from the start of “GNF” through their entire set. Chris’ vocals were powerful screams that shredded you at every note. Aaron wailed on the bass, headbanging throughout the set in a frenzy. Jeremy and Zach were in perfect harmony throughout their performance, moving around the stage quickly. And the media photographers were dodging crowd surfers more than the first two bands. I truly enjoyed their performance of “Nowhere Left To Sink” from Dark Divine showing off their musical flexibility and Chris’ vocal range. Like Moths to Flames is a band you need to experience live to feel that energy they bring to the crowd. Finally, it was time for the headliners Wage War. The metalcore band from Ocala, FL formed in 2010 under the name of Empires. In 2011 they released an EP titled The Fall of Kings. The band underwent a lineup change and renamed themselves Wage War. Years of hard work and performing got them signed to Fearless Records in 2015. The band released their first studio album the same year titled Blueprints. The album peaked at #9 on the Billboard U.S. Hard Rock Album chart. The band toured the following year to support the album including being part of the former Vans Warped Tour. In 2017 they released their second studio album Deadweight. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard U.S. Hard Rock Album charts. Wage War released their third studio album Pressure on August 30, 2019. Wage War is Briton Bond (lead vocals), Cody Quistad (clean vocals, rhythm guitar), Seth Blake (lead guitar), Chris Gaylord (bass), and Stephen Kluesener (drums).

As the band came out on stage, the crowd became the loudest it was all night. They opened with “Who I Am” from Pressure and they fired off confetti from the stage into the crowd. It was an amazing sight! Besides being a stellar single, the band was all over the stage rocking and having fun performing for the crowd. The crowd surfers started early and came on faster than before trying to get closer to the band for a high five or acknowledgment. They followed up with “Prison” also from Pressure. Briton was smiling from ear to ear as he sang. Cody was behind the mic stand for most of the show singing and smiling. Seth had an intense look on his face as he played, absorbed in the music, while playing perfectly playing through songs. Chris engaged the crowd to get them amped up as he strummed. And Stephen banged away on the drums looking like he was having a blast. Wage War had the crowd in the palms of their hands and the crowd was perfectly OK with it.

The band went back to their older roots of Blueprints playing songs like “Hollow”, “Twenty One” and “Alive”. Wage War was full of energy, passion, and poured it all back to the crowd through their music. During one point Briton thanked his family for all their support and the support of the fans as well. Cody was very emotional stating how much he appreciated all his family’s support and how he couldn’t even look up to the balcony, where his family was watching, because he knew he’d start to cry. It was a truly heartful moment before the band continued on through the rest of the set. The band continued playing a great mix of songs from their three albums and wrapped up the night with “Stitch” from Deadweight. Wage War thanked the crowd again and walked off stage closing out the tour.
