Zen is a Prince From Grass

First, we will start with comparisons.

Younger Zen/Hyun (Age 18?):

Younger Jieun/Etinos (Age 16):

Older Jieun/Etinos (Age 19?):

Older Zen/Hyun (Age 23):

... I wanted to get that out of the way first. Zen and Jieun obviously have physical similarities (especially when they were both younger and drawn with thick eyelashes), but let’s go beyond this. After all, Cheritz has a habit of making the love interests in their games have similarities to each other. In every game, you always have 5 love interests and 1 MC pursuing them because of reasons (V and Ray's routes broke this pattern, but the original MM only had 5 routes so...). There are more specific similarities like 707 and Red, Yeonho, and Yoosung, arguably Lance and Jumin, etc. Now, I think this goes deeper in the case of Zen and Jieun.

In another post, I talk about how there is a pattern with Cheritz boys who have red eyes, and it's that they all have powers. It is explicitly stated/heavily hinted they have this power, and I pointed out that Jieun and Zen’s power is basically the same. (There’s gonna be a lot of screenshots as points of evidence/to get my points across).

I don’t have the exact screenshot of Zen saying that his dreams predict the future, but I’m sure he explicitly mentions this at some point in the game. If he didn’t, in my other post I mention 2 examples of him predicting the future. What am I suggesting exactly? Well, I think that Zen is not only royalty but also related to Jieun somehow.

Let’s start with what we know about Jieun’s power:

This is Jieun’s explanation from his route when confronted by Heejung. I have no idea where it is mentioned, but having red eyes is also another sign that you have these powers. (If someone knows where in the game this comes up let me know!). When he sees the future, wind flies everywhere and he uses it on purpose to see Heejung’s future specifically.

This is different from Zen, who only sees the future in dreams, and they come to him randomly. Though, I think Jieun does mention that he had to train his power in order to use it at will. If Zen was gifted this power by the gods, then doesn’t that mean that he is from Grass? And not only that, he has the potential to become king? If that is the case, why is he not there, and living a normal life?

To answer that question, we have to talk about Jihae/Eddison:

He is key to this theory. He is Jieun’s knight and his duty is to protect him. In Jieun’s route, he talks briefly about their past:

Jieun is talking about his own mother, and how she was a maid, while his father was presumably the king because Jieun still retains his prince status, despite his parents being from different classes.

He was separated from her after he was born, and the only way she can hear about Jieun is through Jihae (Jieun calls him ‘Eddie’ as a nickname).

Dark blue text is Jihae. Light blue is Jieun:

A lot to unpack here. This dialogue shows how Grass has a strict hierarchy. Aristocrats and commoners shouldn’t have relations. If they do, the child of such an affair is treated badly. Even though one of Jieun’s parents was of low birth, because he can see the future and has white hair, he is left alone. In fact, he’s still eligible to become king despite everything. Jihae was in the same boat, but because his hair was gray he was judged, called ugly, and a bad omen. In the dialogue above we see Jihae call himself filthy, a testament to how people treat him on the daily. Jieun recognizes how beautiful Jihae truly is, and that isn’t an exaggeration! When they come to Earth, Jihae is offered modeling jobs when he’s in Busan and starts a career out of it.

The 2nd screenshot shows him in one of his modeling gigs (Let’s take a second to appreciate him). It’s not that the rabbits in Grass do not see that he is beautiful, but that his social status as a child of a commoner/outsider derides everything else. In fact, his good looks probably garner even more disgust. Heejung also considers Jieun to be beautiful, so it might also be a facet of being noble/royal to be beautiful by Earth's standards.

What does that have to do with Zen? Well:

1. Has gray hair.

2. Is considered extremely handsome, and is so popular that even Jumin has offered him to model for his company.

3. Has red eyes and can see the future in his dreams.

4. His healing ability! Magic is a thing in Grass so maybe that has something to do with it?

5. His own ‘family’ have voiced how much Zen doesn’t look like them:

“Why do we look so different?” I wonder why too Zen’s bro.

Poor Zen still gets bothered by people because of his looks. At least it's not as hostile as Jihae’s experience, but it’s upsetting nonetheless.

All of this added up, and you can see where I’m going with this. Zen could be a prince, one parent royal, and the other a commoner/outsider. This gives him gray hair, but he is still born with the power of precognition, making him eligible to become king. Who knows if his power would outweigh his status? It might not, if he ended up on Earth in the end.

Jieun stated that once every 3 generations, a divine child like himself is born. Zen and Jieun are clearly not the same people since their hair color is different.

I believe Zen is either a prince:

1. 3 generations after Jieun.

2. At some point in Grass’ history was a prince, whether in the past or the future.

The reason I say this is because of the timeline. Dandelion and Nameless have very explicit dates for when and where it takes place. Most of the time both take place on Earth in South Korea between the years 2012-2013. But Mystic Messenger is a big question mark. D & N’s years correspond with the year the games were released in. If we follow that pattern, then Mystic Messenger would have happened in 2016. The thing is, that is not confirmed in-game, and is just speculation. So, we can give the timeline some leeway.

There are 3 possibilities for how Zen got sent to Earth:

1. Zen made a desperate wish to leave Grass: This is the sad option. Based on how we see Jihae be treated, especially if you get deeper into his backstory, Zen could have been neglected/verbally abused/etc. for his hair. The Wizard in Dandelion can grant any wish you desire, as long as that wish is desperate. If Zen arrived on Earth as a child, then the implications of that are even worse. In exchange for a wish, your memories relating to that wish are taken away. Perhaps his memories of Grass was the price and that’s why he doesn’t remember anything. The earliest memory we see in-game was from when he was studying with his older brother as a child when he was 7 years old.

2. Sorcerers from the royal family: They sent him to Earth as a child. I bring this up because, in Dandelion, travel between the planets was seen as impossible. Of course, with the exception of The Wizard and making a desperate wish. He was the one who brought the rabbit and cat boys to Earth, after all. BUT THEN, Jieun came in.

At the end of Jieun’s route, he gets separated from Heejung and has to go back to Grass. 3 years after, Heejung is summoned to Grass by a group of sorcerers Jieun got together (Whether they are actually other wizards is up for debate). Jieun overcame the odds. This is why I suggested that Zen is a prince 3 generations after Jieun. Perhaps this spell was tweaked to send Zen to Earth instead of the other way around. Going back to what I said before, if Zen is a prince 3 generations after Jieun, and got sent to Earth in South Korea specifically, then it can make sense why it happened. 3 generations down the line I think records would remain of a former king (Jieun) summoning a woman (Heejung) from another planet, and maybe Jieun documented his stay in South Korea. A portal dropping Zen in South Korea of all places on the planet could make sense from this angle. Maybe he had some protection spells cast on him (his random fast healing?) and maybe even his human family has been bewitched to believe he is their birth son? Maybe some member of the royal family orchestrated all of this for Zen’s sake, so that he can live a life free of judgment (didn’t quite work out but still). This is mostly conjecture though.

The details of how all of that would happen are up in the air.

3. Zen was unwillingly sent to Earth/MM universe(?) and is now trapped: I think this one needs an entire post by itself. This has to do with Saeyoung being a wizard and April Fool’s DLC stuff. This one is the one I believe in the most.

Nonetheless, I have brought up all the points why I believe Zen could be a prince from Grass. (Also lol Zen hated Jumin for being a trust-fund kid, but he could be a divine child blessed by god and is a bunny prince lmaoooo).

Could you do a prompt where after Jihae wins, Jieun offers to send him back to Earth to be with the mc using the court mages. Would Jihae be able to let Jieun go to be with the mc? And if he does, his reaction to the mc taking him back after being gone for years

Okay so I saw this and fell in love with the idea! I am so happy to hear that you liked my Jihae hcs and it's so nice when I get requests for this and Nameless. Small snippet under the cut, note at the end. Hope you enjoy~

I don't think it was easy for Jiaeh to leave Jieun's side

He would feel guilty, like he doesn't deserve that kindness from Jieun after everything that's happened

It took months maybe even a full year of Jieun pushing for Jihae to finally accept the offer

A part of him is scared there's a chance you'd be angry with him for vanishing suddenly or maybe you've already moved on from him

But the worst thing his mind supplies is the idea that you've forgotten him, that all the time you spent together has been wiped away leaving no room for him to come back

Jieun is who gives him the nudge to take that finally step in finding you again, with a promise that everything will be okay and that no matter what he'll always have a place in the Grass Kingdom

Upon seeing you again Jihae is hit with overwhelming emotions it's this sharp and stinging warmth sweeps over him until its hard to think

He hardly noticed his own body moving, his voice was suddenly calling out and his hand reached for you before he could think

It's not the first time he's hugged you like this but he's never felt more whole then right now

After that there was a lot to talk about, you'd both been so busy over the years yet it felt like nothing had changed between you

He was truly happy that you've been doing well and simarrily it was nice that he had manged to stand on his own again, to find things that made him happy

There's such a sense of fulfillment and joy that comes from you accepting him again and still loving him of course he makes it clear his love for you never vanished either

There's a lot to readjust to, he's spent the past for years working as knight again and helping Jieun become a wonderful king

Thanks to that it's once more ingrained into him that serveing is what he must do but that's not needed anymore

It's almost like having to start over but Jihae is happier with himself, he's more willing to let himself be happy

Being together with you is more than he thought he'd get and Jihae wants to make this second chance with you truly unforgettable

It's been four years since the end of this so-called game. A long four years of hardships and work. Even now it felt strange to see the house so empty no longer was it filled with animals or people instead it was just me. Jiaeh and Jieun had both vanished leaving without a proper goodbye but at least my last memories with Jiaeh had been happy. Jiyeon had been the first to leave after that, it didn't even take a full day before he was gone. Jiwoo was next, giving me thanks before leaving for the mountains to write. I bought his first book recently. Jisoo as expected was the last to go, it seems even if he couldn't remember me he still wanted to make sure I was okay. He still lives nearby and sometimes on my way home I pass by where he works. There's an odd comfort in knowing he's still doing okay.

Since then a lot more has changed as well. Just like me and Jihae had talked about, I continued to pursue my passions and did my best to lead a life I love. To some extent I'm glad the Wizard couldn't grant my wish but it stings knowing he couldn’t just come back. Still I find myself hoping he and Jieun are okay, that back in their kingdom they've found a way to be happy. With that in mind here I was looking at my greatest piece yet, a dandelion already being blown apart by the wind. Seeing it here meant everything to me, after so much work it could finally be here and I just wish Jihae could see it, see me. " Y/n!" Could it really be? A voice I hadn't heard in so long was there and real. The warmth of a hand I was familiar with pulled me close and I was blanketed by that beautiful silver. " Jihae!?"

Well would you look at that! This took me some time even though I was really excited for it. I rewrote it more than once before I was really happy with it but I think it turned out well. Pretty sure this is one of if not the longest thing I've written but I really love Jihae so ya know it was worth it. I hope you liked it and thanks again for requesting! ~ Lilly

OGMMA DANDELION?!! I am so normal about that game I just love love cheritz’s two first games; Dandelion and Nameless, though Nameless is kind of… darker imo? I don’t want to spoil anything in case you haven’t played it but… Tae my beloved? My behated? And Jiwoo from Dandelion (TT), I just… and Jihae you are so right he is ethereal if I saw a man as beautiful as him I think I would die ;; God, I’ve been in a bit of an otome drought though,,, I’ve mostly been playing mobile otome games, since many games don’t port to Mac 7_7

i like my pretty bishoujo boys to also be tall with long hair and look a little like a fantasy prince, what can i say abt jihae </3 gbnkjgfkn. i just cant make myself log in to mobile games regularly enough to enjoy them because i either want to read a lot in one go or dont want to for weeks, and the like . . . system of gaining keys and stuff on mobile isn't great for that (me looking towards my poor abandoned ikemen vampire game)! which is why i like full games more. much easier to dip in and out of when your idea of dipping is three hours one day and nothing for weeks!

Kingdom Hearts is literally my life obsession- though it doesn’t really show much on my blog, lol.

I really enjoy Fire Emblem, Pokemon, and Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires too. Genshin Impact, Harvest Moon/Rune Factory/Stardew Valley… I have several Sims4 games but I haven’t played in a while, lol. I binge for several months and then don’t touch it for years. I recently became obsessed with the Zelda series. I have the early access to Baldur’s Gate 3 and Coral Island.

And I played Obey Me for a while before kind of… stopping because I’m really bad at leveling up cards and I’m only on season three but it’s gotten so hard??? Even though my cards are pretty high level??? And now I’m too scared to open up the app because I know I’ll have over five hundred chat messages to read.

If we wanna talk about CLASSIC Otome games though… hehe…

Hello, Cheritz! Dandelion~ wishes brought to you will always hold a special place in my heart, especially with Jihae and Jieun’s stories because they made me bawl my eyes out. Jihae is my bunny husband. I love him so much. I played all routes to get the Wizard ending. The bunnies had the best stories, though I do… feel bad for Jisoo, mean as he is.

Nameless is another good one by the same company. Momma Tei!!! Who is low key a Yandere!!! In his route. But Lance was my first route in that one. I powered through the other endings to- again- get the Wizard and Doll ending. Nameless is actually hinted to be the prequel to Dandelion.

And, of course? Who can forget Mystic Messenger. I played for Zen and that was it. Same universe, and based on the fact that Zen had prophetic visions, along with the red eyes and silver hair (silver hair being the result of a royal/commoner relationship) and his relationship with his family…

It’s fairly obvious that Zen made a wish for him and his family to live in a world where they wouldn’t be treated like trash for his existence, and had to pay the price with the memories of his family. Their memories of how much they loved him. So now they hate him. It’s super sad. But also Zen got a role where he played Jisoo from Dandelion (and Zen is allergic to cats because he’s originally a bunny boi!).

Ahem. Sorry. Jihae has silver hair and an equally sad backstory so uh. I really like Zen. They’re both adoring sweethearts with bad self esteem.

ANYWAYS TO YOUR OTHER QUESTION

Riddle would be very surprised. Would also probably have flashbacks to when he had a puppy crush on El and realize Rhythm has the exact same taste in people as he does- seeing as she fell for El’s SON.

But his daughter deserves to be queen. Riddle was once the dorm leader of Heartslabyul. He was once the Queen himself. It’s only fitting.

But it does make family gatherings a little awkward, lol. Especially if someone teases him about his dark past. (Malleus will never know)

Chapter 1 word count: 963

The classroom is pretty empty, which isn't surprising. Only a few people ever come earlier than 7:50.

Jisung is always sat at the back of the room chatting with Shotaro or Daehwi until the teacher comes in and calls him up to his seat right in front of her. He's always causing trouble and being a nuisance to his classmates, singing and making a fuss and cracking jokes. Some people really hate his guts, but a lot of people secretly love him.

You can usually spot a couple kids in the courtyard making TikToks, and Felix is definitely one of them. He's always at the front of the trendiest kids, having garnered a decently sized audience on TikTok with bisexual joke skits and smooth dances, unafraid of fashion or styling with his jewelry and piercings. He's definitely attractive, and nobody can tell if his posse of five want to be with him or just actually want to be him.

At around 7:58, everyone starts pouring in. Beomgyu and Jeongin giggling away about nothing, Chan with his laptop and headphones, Karina and Isa with their Airpods and intimidating resting bitch faces, and Hyunjin with his sketchpad. Some of the younger girls stay outside the room and wait for him to pass by, but he never notices them. Some other younger girls wait for Karina and Isa too, but they never notice either.

The junior year is full of dense idiots airheads - everyone knows that - and yet they are the smartest and prettiest people the other students have ever known. That's just what you get with the academy - junior year here makes you into a whole different beast.

Homeroom 514: Jisung, Shotaro, Daehwi, Chan, Felix, Karina, Isa, Beomgyu, Jeongin, Hyunjin, Abby, Jihae, Mari, Ichika, and Sewon. They are definitely an interesting bunch.

Everyone sat in their usual seats, but when Chan sat down at his desk in the middle of the room, he was holding a dandelion in his hand, twirling it back and forth while listening to music with his headphones fully on.

"Chan, whatcha doin?" A light tap on the shoulder was all Chan needed to snap out of his trance.

"Good morning Felix," He said absentmindedly. Felix wasn't even sure he heard the question.

"Uh..." Felix turned back to his posse but they're already talking amongst themselves. He turned back. "What are you up to?"

"I dunno, something crazy happened this morning." He said, and then got an idea. "I can show you quickly if we go to the bathroom before class starts."

"Uh..." The clock read 8:05. "We only have five minutes."

"Come," Chan said, grabbing his arm. "I promise you it's worth your time."

"I hope there's no one in here," Chan mumbled to himself. As he got dragged along, Felix felt more and more uneasy. But Chan Bang wasn't the type to just show anything to someone he didn't talk to a lot, so surely it was something surprising.

They reached the bathroom and went into the large stall. Chan pulled Felix in close.

"Watch this," He had an unreadable expression on his face as he brought the dandelion up to their faces. Felix could feel his breath on his face and had to push down some panic to focus.

Chan swirled his hand gently around the flower. It went from starting to wilt and turn brown back to as if it was still in the sun.

Chan looked with a sort of adorable expectation in his eyes, and Felix matched it with his shock. He had never seen something like that before.

"This... power, I guess, just appeared today. I don't know exactly what it does, but I pulled this flower out of the ground without bending down to grab it. It just came straight into my hand and bloomed."

"That's... kind of neat," Felix replied, unsure how to respond. "Does anyone else in your family have this kind of power?"

"No, but here," Chan twirled his hand around Felix's ear, chuckling to himself. "It's a bit tickly."

Felix flinched and pushed his hand away instinctually. "Dohon't do thahat."

Chan only laughed in response.

"So, I really just did this cuz I wanted to formally ask you if we could... you know.. finally be friends," Chan said a little shyly. "We've been sat next to each other for three years now but never really got to know each other. And we seem like we get on fine enough, you know?"

"Yeah, I've actually wanted to ask you too, but I thought you'd prefer to be by yourself..." Felix smiled to himself, realizing that that's definitely what they both thought.

Chan just glanced back at him, trying not to laugh at the hilarity of waiting three years to ask to be friends with someone who also really wanted to be friends.

"Well that's it," Chan extended an awkward hand for an awkward handshake. "Deal, I guess.."

The shook hands and laughed for a bit. Just before heading back, Chan patted Felix's head and wrapped his arm around his shoulder. They let go before entering the classroom, where everyone was getting settled except for Jisung.

"See ya Chan! And Felix~" Daehwi smiled at them before leaving for the senior classroom.

The bell rang as they waved back. Jisung raced to the front of the room, but not before the teacher sternly said "Jisung, get back to your seat!"

He just barely missed his seat and landed right on the floor. The whole class laughed, and even the teacher smiled, just letting him get into his seat without berating him.

It's only a few days into the school year, but for some reason I think it's gonna be a good one. Chan wrote on a sticky note and slid it ever so slightly over to Felix. They locked eyes and he nodded, his eyes smiling as much as his mouth.

"Me too."

OMG HI! I fell asleep last night and logged back on here and saw you and anon mentioning me and I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO TALK ABOUT MY SILVER BUNNY MAN

So the dating sim is a Korean game called Dandelion Wishes Brought To You. It's a little older and it was made by the same company that did Mystic Messenger and I played it on Steam! The MC is this girl who is very unhappy with her life because she is forced by her mother to be a ridiculous overachiever in college and she isn't even sure what she wants to do with her future (honestly I found it really relatable lol). Anyways, she wakes up one day to find that someone left two cats and three rabbits in her house, and she decides to take them in. And eventually, once you raise enough affection with one of them, they... Turn into normal-looking hot dudes with animal ears that you can date lmao.

I know the premise is a little out there, and even I was kind of put off by it because of animal aspect (catboys and bunnyboys are usually not really my thing RIP), but I actually really loved it! The game itself is really fun and most of the characters are really compelling. And when they change they absolutely look like normal humans excpet for the animal ears, which is good. I can't really say much about why and how the animals showed up at her place, who left them there, and why they were even initially animals for plot/spoiler reasons (you don't have to play it ofc but I do recommend it if you're interested!), but it's all explained.

ANYWAYS, you can date any of the five dudes depending on whose route you get on, and my favorite is the silver bunny, whose name is Jihae <3 He's definitely more reserved, but he's always very polite and respectful to you even when you aren't trying to romance him. But when you ARE on his route and actively trying to romance him, oh my gosh he's so tender and kind and wonderful. He's also just really attentive and caring, and he dotes on you more and more the closer you get to him and it kills meeeee!!! It made me feel like a princess hehe. And he also has a really sad backstory (as a lot of dating sim love interests do lmao) and as much as I love him he also just makes me sad. He's so soft and gentle and as a shy girl who is also a big softie, I love it a lot <3

Also, after he becomes a human, he is like...so, so pretty. Like beautiful. He's got long silver hair and pretty blue eyes and he's really tall. I just love Jihae so much <333

There's also a tsundere bunnyboy who likes romance novels and an overprotective catboy if you're interested in the game lol. But obviously my silver bunny man is the one for me hehe :D Thank you for letting me ramble!!!
