#10: Landslide:

Blink and you'll miss it, but the tiny smile on Quinn's face while Santana is having her moment of vulnerability in front of everyone KILLS ME every time. Tell me that's not a girl who already knew her bestie was in love with her other bestie.

#9: The Valentine's hand-hold:

More Brittany-related solidarity. The way Santana just automatically reaches for Quinn when she sees Bram? Quinn's sigh, and knowing nod. Like yes of course I'll hold your hand bestie, we're done here. The drinking scene that follows is f*cking fabulous too. Love it all & I wanted more. 

#8: Wedding Wives:

Honestly this entire scene was just a vibe. I can’t believe they gave us such iconic Quinntana in this episode then dropped them straight afterward. The way Rivergron play off each other and banter and Quinn casually hands Santana her mirror back is just everything. Ugh. This was the moment I started to be like ‘oh damn, do I ship them?’ 

#7: The Locker Fight:

“She has a family, she’s a MOTHERRRR.” Using a screenshot instead of a gif here because Quinn’s face cracks me up. Is it their finest moment? No. But it’s iconic so I had to include it on the list somewhere. I know every word. Also Quinn yelling at Santana to tighten up her ponytail & Santana actually doing it as she walks away is just so perfect. Idiots. 

#6. The Hallway Giggle:

Putting this straight ahead of the locker fight once again to appreciate the duality of their dynamic. It’s so adorable to see them both letting loose for a change, and the fact that they happen to be doing it together is just fabulous. How far they’ve come. 

#5. Quinn’s Nationals breakdown:

Has a special place in my heart. I feel like it’s the first moment we see them show affection outside of Rivergron’s wonderfully subtle BG moments, and the way Santana shifts from tough love to being a big softie when she realises Quinn actually needs that from her is beautiful. Also I can’t get over how casually Quinn leans in to her touch. These girls have 100% done this before. Fight me.

#4. IKAG Hug:

I was ranting about this yesterday, and have done so several times in the past, but I just find it so significant that Quinn would be the one Santana falls into at the end of that song. And again, it’s SO casual. These girls do this all the time. Quinn’s protectiveness over Santana just makes me weak every time too. Go on. Come after her bestie. She’ll bite your f*cking face off. 

#3. Take My Breath Away:

WHY did we not get more Quinntana duets? Their voices together are perfect, and everything about this moment is too. These two girls, who have been at times singularly obsessed with winning Prom Queen no matter the cost, have not only just given it up to RACHEL BERRY without anyone else knowing, but now they’re performing together on stage while Rachel gets her victory dance. The way Santana immediately catches Quinn when she stands up is perfection, as is the eye contact that follows. I love them, your honour. 

#2. The Two Time Thing:

Guys... this is literally the most carefree we have ever seen Quinn Fabray. LOOK AT HER HAIR. As an active member of the Repressed Lesbian Quinn Fabray squad, I refuse to see their little pillowtalk moment as anything other than another very obvious sign she was in denial about her sexuality. But what compels me the most is Santana’s acceptance of Quinn’s needs, whether she believes what she’s saying or not (I guess we’ll never know). It’s a testament to Diana’s acting that you can Quinn’s brief reservation in telling Santana it’s a one-time thing for her, and it’s so so good that Santana doesn’t hold her to anything else. She leaves it open to Quinn as to whether their night ends there, or gets to continue on. The fact that Quinn chooses the latter immediately after saying she’s not into it? ICONIC. 

#1. Valentine’s Dance:

It feels weird to have this as my number one compared to all the other moments on this list, and I can’t really explain it. It just IS my favourite moment. It’s what truly tips the scale from accepting Quinntana as friends vs. wholeheartedly shipping them with every fibre of my being. The way Quinn quietly admits her interest, the content little smile on her face, the proud, slightly intrigued reaction we get from Santana, then the way they fall back into each other & keep dancing afterwards... Ugh. I can’t believe we didn’t at least get a Quinntana midgame out of all this.

A Different Kind of Rewatch - Episode 1

I’ve completed the first round of my rewatch. I watched every episode 1 from every season and picked my top four. The results for the season openers are:

1st: “Black” - Season 10

Demon Dean wins. He’s funny. He’s sexy as all hell. He really doesn’t give a damn. This is a different side of Dean, maybe who he might have become if he didn’t have anyone or anything to care about. Our Dean had Sam and “saving people, hunting things” so he didn’t meet that fate. But for the time being, his “summer of love” with Crowley is a joy to watch. There’s karaoke, foosball, fluffy hair, and Crowley’s infatuation with Dean. Who can blame him? One of my favorite scenes is at the bar when Crowley offers Dean the chance to rule hell “by his side”.

The best Sam scene in my opinion is when he’s on the phone with Crowley and tells him, “I am going to save my brother.” Seeing that Dean is a demon on the security footage is another good Sam moment. The scenes of Sam alone in the bunker early in the episode hurt my heart.

2nd: “Keep Calm and Carry On” - Season 12

Dean steals the show in the opening for season 10; Sam takes this one. The scenes of him being tortured by the BMOL women made my heart and my stomach twist. The blowtorch? OMG.

Sam is strong, courageous, and defiant. “Screw you” is an iconic part of the series. His torturer’s words, “No one can take that much pain and not break. No one.” At the time, I thought that was foreshadowing Sam was going to have a complete breakdown.

Now’s a good time to point out Sam has never said what actually happened to him in hell. We know Dean tortured souls. There’s been no revelation about Sam. I thought those two things would be connected. Sam would finally say out loud what happened, and that would cause his break. It hasn’t happened.

Notable Moments

Dean and Mary are in the park when they first meet again. Dean has to convince her that he’s her son, and when she finally hugs him you can see the shock/overwhelm on his face. He doesn’t know what to do. He’s been wanting this his entire life. Dean isn’t accustomed to getting what he wants.

Mary is reunited with Baby in the bunker’s garage. After seeing her reaction to the backseat, I’m convinced Dean was conceived in that car. The look on Dean’s face when he realizes what she’s thinking is priceless.

Mary meets Cas. Dean awkwardly tries to explain the existence of angels and why one is in his home hugging him.

Dean breaks the cell phone. Enough said.

3rd: Lazarus Rising - Season 4

The Road So Far song is “You Shook Me All Night Long,” and Dean’s world is about to be shaken. This is the episode when Cas unfurls those wings for the first time and confronts Dean telling him, “you don’t think you deserve to be saved”. No, he doesn’t. That’s one of the reasons we love him so much. We want him to FEEL LOVE.

Cas showing his wings isn’t the only scene that stays in my mind from this one. There’s Dean climbing out of the ground and lying there with the wildflowers. Dean discovers Cas’s handprint and checks himself out; while we do too, baffled about he doesn’t have a mark on him except that handprint.

Favorite Scenes

Dean goes to Bobby’s and Bobby flings holy water in his face, touching and funny.

The hug when Sam sees Dean again is a thing of beauty.

Maybe my very favorite is when we find out Sam’s been wearing the Samulet, and he gives it back to Dean.

Honorable Mention: Pilot - Season 1

There are so many great moments here. Let’s start with the quotes (said in higher voices than the boys have now 🙂)

“Dad’s on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a few days.”

“No chick flick moments.”

“Driver picks the music; shotgun shuts his cakehole.”

“Bitch. Jerk.”

“We’ve got work to do.”

Sam Winchester grabbed my heart in the first episode. It happened during the scene where the woman in white is trying to kill him, and he tells her she can’t because “I’m not unfaithful” while she forces herself on him. We should have known then that this was going to be a recurring thing with Sam and Dean too. Ruby. Amara. We should have heard the warning bells.

John Winchester’s journal captured my imagination the very first time I saw it. I hoped we’d see a Sam and Dean version of this journal at some point that they made for the next generation of hunters. Wouldn’t that thing be interesting?!

Upcoming DC Movies: Complete Release Calendar

The DC Extended Universe is in full swing! With a healthy schedule of upcoming DC movies in development, the DCEU isn’t going away anytime soon, and there’s still lots to look forward to.

So, it’s time to take a look at all of the DCEU superhero movies that will be released over the next few years. And trust us, there are a ton of them on the way, and we expect more details will be announced as we go forward. We have all the release dates for every one of ’em right here, as well as official details, the most interesting rumors, and suggestions for further reading where appropriate.

Thanks to HBO Max, Suicide Squad 2 is on schedule for August 2021, with The Batman, Shazam 2, Aquaman 2, and more due in 2022. There’s a bright future for the newly revitalized DCEU movies!

Here’s how this works, because the schedule is getting a little weird. We’re starting with the DCEU movies that officially have release dates attached to them. Then we’ll get into the stuff that we know for 100% certain is in development, but that don’t have release dates yet. Then we’ll get into some of the long shots, the projects that are announced but quiet or seemingly dead, at the bottom.

Keep in mind that many of these are the CURRENT release dates as of this update, and all of these are subject to change. We’ll keep updating this with more information as we get it…

Suicide Squad 2

David Ayer going to be too busy with other projects until further notice, and none other than James Gunn (of Guardians of the Galaxy fame) has stepped in to write and direct Suicide Squad 2. This is now called The Suicide Squad, which indicates something of a soft reboot, but expect this to remain a DCEU movie.

The cast is positively bonkers.

Returning from the first film we have Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, and of course Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn Scheduling issues forced Will Smith to bow out of the project as Deadshot.

But then that new cast is wild! John Cena is Peacemaker, with Idris Elba as Bloodsport, David Dastmalchian will play Polka Dot Man. Daniela Melchor will play a genderswapped version of Batman villain Ratcatcher…and there’s more, including Sylvester Stallone as the voice of King Shark! We have a full breakdown of the cast right here.

Pandemic be damned, this one arrives on HBO Max AND in theaters simultaneously, so that August release date isn’t going anywhere.

The Batman

So, speaking of movies that had their release dates shifted because of the coronavirus pandemic, The Batman recently had to move from June to October of 2021 after its filming was put on hold fairly early on, and now it has had to vacate its October release slot for March of the following year, thanks to the aforementioned Dune reschedule, and also another production halt after star Robert Pattinson was diagnosed with Covid-19. Fortunately, principal photography has wrapped and this is now well on its way to meeting that release date!

The Batman solo movie has Matt Reeves as director. Robert Pattinson is the new Batman. Not only that, this movie will likely kick off a brand new trilogy of Batman movies. Expect a more low-key, detective focused approach to the Dark Knight than we’ve seen in previous movies.

Black Adam Powers and Abilities Explained

This is the kind of thing that could work as a nifty prequel to further flesh out the mystical world of Shazam if they choose to go that route. More importantly, this movie will feature the DCEU introduction of the Justice Society of America, including Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher!

We’re currently on the lookout for more info, but Black Adam is supposed to start filming in early 2021, which seems unlikely at this time because of the global coronavirus pandemic. This film had been scheduled for December of 2021, but lost that date with all of WB’s recent release date shuffles. It’ll happen, it’s just a question of when.

Crisis On Infinite Earths Confirms DCEU Movies With Ezra Miller Cameo

Ezra Miller will reprise his Justice League role as Barry Allen. Kiersey Clemons is Iris West. Ron Livingston will play Barry’s father, Dr. Henry Allen (replacing Billy Crudup who played the role in Justice League). But here’s where things get crazy…Ben Affleck will return to the role of Batman for this movie. And Michael Keaton will ALSO return to the role of Batman for this movie!

How is this possible? Because it’s based on the DC Comics Flashpoint story, which for the purposes of the movies will be used to create a big screen multiverse. Wow.

Oh, and it that’s not enough, this movie will introduce Supergirl to the DCEU, played by Sarah Calle!

This movie has had an extraordinary amount of trouble getting off the ground, so let’s see if the combination of Muschietti and Hodson keep this one on schedule for that release date. Or any release date. But pre-production is well underway, so it looks like Ezra Miller’s Barry will finally get his day in the sun.

Aquaman 2

After it made a billion dollars at the box office, you bet your trident that Aquaman 2 is happening! Right now the plan is for James Wan to remain involved and start developing the movie, but he won’t decide whether or not to direct it until there’s a script in place. Fair enough. Patrick Wilson seems set to return, though, and of course, Jason Momoa will be back.

Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods

Shazam 2 is now officially called Shazam: Fury of the Gods and…that’s about all we know about it right now.

One thing is for sure, though, this movie will retain the look, feel, and charm that made the first one so successful, since both director David F. Sandberg and writer Henry Gayden are returning. And this time we’ll have an entire Shazam family to help out!

Wait…did we mention the Sinbad cameo? No, really!

Now, let’s get into the projects that are in the works, but don’t have release dates yet. We’ve grouped these roughly in the order we expect to see them based on how far along they are.

Blue Beetle

There’s a Blue Beetle movie in the works. And unlike the character potentially appearing in the Booster Gold movie (more on that down below), this one would focus on Jaime Reyes, the magical tech powered teenage hero who wields the scarab of original Blue Beetle, Dan Garrett. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala) is writing the script, with Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) directing.

There’s no release date yet, but this is scheduled to begin production in fall 2021, so maybe we can pencil in a 2023 release date.

Untitled Superman Project

Ta-Nehisi Coates is working on a Superman feature film with J.J. Abrams producing. No other info is currently available, but it appears to be a reboot.

“To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor,” Coates told Shadow and Act when the news was announced. “I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.”

Will this continue Henry Cavill’s time in the role, or will it take a new approach? Will this be a completely different take on the Man of Steel altogether? Time will tell!

Zatanna

One of the most powerful magicians in the DC Universe is getting her own film, with a powerful writer attached. Emerald Fennell, who wrote and directed the brilliant Promising Young Woman has signed on to write a Zatanna movie for Warner Bros. No other details are available at this time, but you don’t sign an Oscar hopeful for a movie like this unless you’re serious about getting it moving.

The New Gods

Ava DuVernay will direct a movie based on Jack Kirby‘s New Gods. It’s not clear yet whether this will fit into the continuity of the other DCEU movies, but really, it doesn’t need to. The New Gods is a cosmic story of such incredible scale that there’s no reason to try and connect this to earthbound concerns. Tom King, the DC Comics writer who has made waves with his work on the New Gods-centric (and Eisner Award-winning) Mister Miracle series, is co-writing the screenplay with DuVernay.

The New Gods is the story of two worlds, the warlike Apokolips and the peaceful New Genesis, each populated by immensely powerful beings with fantastic technology. Darkseid is the evil dictator of Apokolips, and he swaps sons with Highfather, the leader of New Genesis, and each child is raised on the opposite world. Darkseid’s son, Orion, becomes a troubled champion of New Genesis, while Highfather’s son (raised by Darkseid) revolts and becomes the super escape artist, Mister Miracle. This barely scratches the surface of what this movie is about. We tried to get into more detail about it here.

The Trench

Aquaman director James Wan and producer Peter Safran are working on developing other corners of Arthur’s world in addition to Aquaman 2. The Trench will focus on the terrifying piranha-like beasts seen briefly in the first film, and will be a smaller-scale, more horror-focused movie, and one that won’t feature any of the main characters from Aquaman. A different approach to superhero movie worldbuilding, for sure. Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald are writing.

Supergirl

Oren Uziel is working on a script for a Supergirl movie. It’s not clear what kind of ties this will have to the currently dead Man of Steel franchise, especially given the uncertain state of Henry Cavill’s future as Superman.

But one thing is for sure, the DCEU does have their Supergirl! Sasha Calle will be introduced as Kara in The Flash movie, and presumably she’ll lead this one, as well.

Green Lantern Corps

Fairly or unfairly, Green Lantern has the most working against him. The 2011 film failed to kickstart the DC Universe as planned, and received a lukewarm (at best) critical and box-office reception. There are, of course, ways around this.

New Green Lantern Series Expands Cosmic DC Universe

One way is to simply not make Hal Jordan the central Green Lantern of the movie. Thisone may focus on as many as three Green Lanterns, with the main focus on a kind of buddy/cop movie with John Stewart and Hal Jordan. Geoff Johns is writing the script, but there’s no director in place yet, however Johns should be turning in his script soon and that will allow the director search to kick off in earnest. There’s also the recent announcement of an HBO Max Green Lantern TV show to consider. It remains to be seen what (if any) connection that will have to this movie.

Plastic Man

This one is a little further off in the future as all they’ve done is hire a writer. But there is definitely a Plastic Man movie in the works, with Amanda Idoko (ABC’s The Mayor) working on a screenplay. We have some more details on it right here.

Blackhawk

Steven Spielberg has long wanted to make a Blackhawk movie, and he’s finally going to get his wish. And if it was your wish to see Steven Spielberg direct a DC movie, you’re also in luck. David Koepp is writing the screenplay. We have more details on this one here.

Batgirl

Joss Whedon was originally supposed to write, direct, and produce the Batgirl movie, one that was reportedly based on Gail Simone’s recent New 52 take on the character. He has exited the project and now Christina Hodson is writing. There is no director at the time of this writing, and rumor has it that this will be a project set to go direct to HBO Max.

Deathstroke

Joe Manganiello has long been cast as Slade Wilson, known to DC fans as Deathstroke. He even made a cameo in one of the Justice League theatrical post-credits scenes back when that was supposed to set up a Justice League 2 that never happened. But it turns out that the original version of that cameo in Zack Snyder’s Justice League was meant to set him up as the villain of The Batman solo movie (that is no longer the case), 

Deathstroke was also once set to get a solo film, written and directed by The Raid‘s Gareth Evans. Despite Manganiello returning for a brief scene as Deathstroke in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, it doesn’t seem likely that his solo film is happening anymore, which is a real shame as he would have been great in the role.

Justice League 2

Justice League 2 isn’t likely to happen at the moment given how the first film underperformed at the box office. It once had a release date, but that long since evaporated. Still, “The Snyder Cut” generated considerable buzz on HBO Max, and featured a teaser scene that was very much meant as a preview for what the director was looking for in his dark vision of Justice League 2.

Nightwing

The Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay has been tapped to direct a Nightwing movie. Bill Dubuque (The Accountant) is working on a script. No other details are currently available, and this one doesn’t have a release date yet.

Justice League Dark

At one time this was called Dark Universe, until Universal came along and ruined that name with their failed horror movie shared franchise. This one will feature the supernatural characters from the DC Universe. Characters like Swamp Thing, Demon, Deadman, Zatanna, and even John Constantine.

Guillermo del Toro was attached to this one for quite some time, but had to leave the project. Then it was Doug Liman. Now J.J. Abrams is involved as producer for what will likely be an HBO Max series.

And now for the long shots…projects mentioned, rumored, or that haven’t had any movement in a while.

Man of Steel 2

Never officially announced, with no director or writer ever attached…another solo Superman movie starring Henry Cavill seems pretty unlikely at the moment. Especially considering that Henry Cavill appears to be finished as Superman, there’s an excellent Superman & Lois TV series on the air, and the aforementioned movie in the works from Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Cyborg

OK, to be perfectly honest, the Cyborg movie almost certainly isn’t happening. Ray Fisher made his first (very brief) appearance as Vic Stone/Cyborg in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and played a crucial role in Justice League. At one point he was supposed to feature in The Flash solo movie, too, but it’s not clear if that’s still the case.

Basically, though…let’s be completely real: this movie isn’t happening. There hasn’t been any movement on it in years, despite once having been assigned an April 3, 2020 release date. As far as we can tell there has been no additional movement on this movie in years. It’s probably dead. Too bad, since Ray Fisher was great in the role.

Harley Quinn

Yes, there’s also another Harley Quinn movie in development! Well, at least there was at one point. Whether this is a solo project or something else remains to be seen. Keep in mind that while very good, Birds of Prey didn’t set the world on fire at the box office, which means that Warner Bros. might be a little more wary than before about additional solo projects for Harley, even with Margot Robbie’s star power. As for what shape this movie was supposed to take in the first place, your guess is as good as ours!

Gotham City Sirens

David Ayer is looking to direct a Harley Quinn and friends “girl gang” movie. Geneva Robertson-Dworet is writing, with Margot Robbie producing. It’s not clear where this stands on anybody’s priority list these days. Ayer has moved on to other projects, and as mentioned above, Birds of Prey wasn’t quite the financial success that Warner Bros. had hoped for. It’s possible that Gotham City Sirens has been put in a drawer for the time being.

Flash and Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti is going to executive produce and possibly direct a Booster Gold movie. Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class) will write the script.

Early reports described this as a “superhero buddy cop movie” that would involve Blue Beetle. We’ll get you more updates on this as they become available, but keep in mind there hasn’t been any movement on this in a long time, and the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle movie is probably taking priority for the studio.

Deadshot

Warner Bros. knows they have one of the biggest stars in the world already in costume, so they’re reportedly considering a Deadshot solo movie, as well. But with Smith now having left Suicide Squad 2 this project seems like it may not ever materialize. Unless, of course, switching Idris Elba’s role (he was originally intended as Smith’s replacement as Floyd) means they’re keeping the door open for him down the road.

Lobo

The Lobo movie may attempt to be the DCEU movies’ equivalent of Deadpool. Jason Fuchs must have impressed Warner Bros. with his work on Wonder Woman, because he’s on board to write the script for this one. Michael Bay might direct. But with Lobo appearing on Krypton season 2 and a TV series for the character that had once been put into development (but is probably dead), this might be less of a priority for the studio now.

Joker & Harley Quinn Movie

At one point there was yet another Joker-centric flick in the works. This one, a Joker and Harley Quinn movie is absolutely part of the DCEU movie continuity would pick up where Suicide Squad left off. There are currently no additional details available on this one, either. This probably won’t happen, however.

Warner Bros. is very happy with how their R-rated, out of continuity Joker movie performed both critically and commercially, and with Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar win, it’s a safe bet that they’re at least quietly hoping to make him their definitive Clown Prince of Crime for the foreseeable future…even though Joker was never intended to be part of the DCEU.

Jared Leto Joker Movie

Honestly, we’re having trouble keeping track of all these, but yes, there was also yet another Joker solo movie in development focusing on Jared Leto’s version of the character in the works at one point. Apparently, this has long been canceled, but we’re keeping it here to be safe for a little longer.

It has apparently been long enough now that I can revisit The Parallax and enjoy it wholeheartedly again.

This is normally the one BtBaM album that I’m divided on, as it’s hard for me to synchronize the tone of the music with the tone of the plot-- and even then, the plot requires quite a lot of context to even get to (two tracks from their second album, one track from their fourth album, two tracks from their fifth album, and then the entire Parallax EP all come together just to give the premise to this album). But it’s been nearly ten years now, I have this album memorized like the damn back of my hand, I have a lot of other musical experience behind me, and I am no longer a traumatized teenager.

So. How do I get into The Parallax II: Future Sequence? I treat it like frantic jazz. Every note contributes to a riff or a motif, every riff contributes to a greater rhythm, every greater rhythm and motif contributes to a Moment, every Moment contributes to a Song, some Songs contribute to sequences (ex: “Astral Body” and “Lay Your Ghosts to Rest” form a 15-minute unit which corresponds with “Silent Flight Parliament” at the other end of the album), and all of this makes the album a cohesive piece. This is the same with basically any album, and definitely any BtBaM album. Just.. the style here is frantic jazz, rendered with heavy metal instruments and growling vocals, performing an opera. Coming into this album expecting a familiar aesthetic is tricky, as this album creates its own aesthetic, and.. I’m repeating myself but “frantic” really sums it up best I can.

Furthermore, this “frantic” aesthetic somehow manages to colour the plot. Prospect #2, the main protagonist, has torn his mind apart with the god complex he got from his mission in the EP (to plant new life across the universe). Isolation in his spaceship has incubated this into a legitimate confusion between dream and reality, and the gods themselves have complicated matters by compromising his life in just the right ways to encourage a profound destructive tendency in him. He projects his astral body into space and hears his hands talk to him. His ship contains instructions to fuck with the gravitational orbits of meteors. His home planet is gone, along with the life he had to leave behind. He keeps dreaming of someone who looks exactly like him, and he knows exactly where to find him. Prospect #1, more of a deuteragonist in this opera, is that identical twin. He formerly had some sort of profession feeding lies to people on TV, a job he found so little joy in that he cast his life away by swimming out into the deep ocean. Somewhere along the lines, after a three-day emotional breakdown at sea, he was taken across the universe by the gods just to fuck with him and wound up stranded on an island where he was finally rescued. But this poor fuck, he’s on the wrong planet and doesn’t even know it; there’s no life for him here, and this civilization is still building massive structures from nothing. This world is frantic and hideous and he’s scared. And he keeps dreaming of someone who looks exactly like him, someone who’s coming for him. Prospect 1 has more of a passive role here, as he just wants to find a way to enjoy his new life, but his mirror twin, his mad god from the stars, has had it with humanity and has a mad plan to destroy it. And also, the real gods are owls.

(I did not mention Prospect 2′s wife, nor the Black Mask. That’s another tragedy in itself. Prospect 2 had to go out into space to plant new life as his old planet was dying, and the owls the government insisted he had to leave without telling his wife. He couldn’t go through with that, so he left a note for her explaining his situation before he left. The government was serious, though, so they hired a remorseless assassin to steal the letter and destroy it. What happens to both characters is covered in Future Sequence.)

See, like. ...frankly, that whole plot is awesome??? That’s one of the best damn plots I’ve ever seen to a music album??? But the music itself doesn’t necessarily sound like the “coolest” way to express it. The plot is not covered straightforwardly, the songs rarely stick around in one mood and let it establish some kind of tone. But. But the music sure as hell does do something. It gives that frantic undercurrent, and the plot lines intertwine concurrently to give this impression that the music is trying to tell two stories at the same time, two identical voices trying to express themselves, unable to be contained by the music. I would call this a maximalist metal album, and taken on its own merits, it’s gripping as fuck. It’s metal with xylophones, saxophones, a string quartet, a tuba, and animal noises, and it’s not even clear when most of those instruments are present; they contribute to an undercurrent, like some kind of sub-texture. It’s goddamn jazz.

This is not exactly my favourite Between the Buried and Me album, not even my favourite rock opera of theirs (that’s Automata, on both counts). But it is possibly their most iconic, the most.. blatantly... them. Listening to this album is a fever dream filled with fucking awesome riffs and a showmanship that comes across even without seeing their live performance. (Spoilers: They perform their songs live flawlessly.)

I’ve heard it said that BtBaM is like a fine wine. As much as I feel the two have nothing in common, I.. can still see what that means. And I feel no shame in gushing about them.

About a week after “Chris Bang declaring his love for MY Best Friend?!?!?” as Felix oh so eloquently put it, you were in the library looking for a good source for your history project. 

“Who even requires a book as a source for these things any more?” You complained to yourself looking for the stupid book. Having strayed into the more secluded part of the library in your search you were startled out of your search by a familiar voice cursing loudly only a little ways away. 

Turning a corner you saw a scene you’d never thought you’d see. Bang Chan surrounded by textbooks and papers, iconic leather jacket hanging off the back of the chair he’s sitting in, holding his disheveled head in his hands. The very picture of a student on the edge of a mental breakdown. The scene was so different from his usual image that you almost didn’t recognize him, but that curly dyed blonde hair and aussie accent were hard to miss. 

“You do realize you’re in a library right?” the snarky comment left your lips faster than you could think to stop it. 

Chan looked up, turning his tired eyes met yours. “Pardon?” a lazy smile made its way onto his lips. 

You almost facepalmed, whether at your own stupidity for not keeping your mouth shut or at Chan’s greasiness, you weren’t sure. “Nothing, just keep it down.” 

“Sorry was I too distracting?” His head tipped sideways, that playboy smirk on full display. 

“Too annoying more like.” You mumbled to yourself, but Chan probably heard you anyway. “Libraries. Loud noises. Don’t mix.” You explained as if to a child. “Understand?” 

“Did anyone ever tell you you look adorable when you're exasperated?”

The comment threw you off guard for a second, just a split second, but it was a second too long. You could tell by the devilish glint in Chan's eyes, he noticed. 

“Aww did I make you speechless?” He cooed a playful smile in his eyes. 

“Speechless at how greasy you are, maybe.” Was your oh so strong retort. 

“Don't try to deny it, princess. You love it when I bother you with compliments out of the blue.” His dimples were on full display. Damn. 

“You bother me, period.”

“Yeah and you like it.”

“I never - you - what.” That one really did leave you speechless. The words that did make it out not making any sense, even to you. 

“I was wrong.” Chan leaned towards you, against the back of the chair. “You're just cute when you're exasperated. You're absolutely adorable when you're speechless. Did you know that, princess?”

“You just like it when I don't talk back.” You huffed, trying not to let your cheeks flush at the nickname. He's just toying with you don't give him the satisfaction of a response to that. 

“Over half a semester of going to not one but three classes together and you don't know that I love it when you talk back? I feel kinda offended.” He placed a hand over his heart dramatically. 

“I guess I'll just ignore you from here on out, then.” You deadpan. 

“Don't give me the silent treatment.” A playful whine in his tone. “What did I ever do to deserve that?” He looked at you exuding mock innocence. 

You just rolled your eyes. “Good day Chan.” And turning away from him you began to walk away. 

“Wait!” You heard the creak of a chair scraping against the floor as Chan rushed to catch up to you. “Y/n!”

You paused, but didn't turn around. Silent treatment is a silent treatment, and you were feeling like being a little petty over his comments earlier. 

He caught up and faced you. “I actually need your help. I know you're great with history-”

“I'm not doing your work for you.” You cut him off, glaring at him. You were not about to help the man that annoyed you for his personal entertainment. 

“That's not what I'm asking.” Chan looked you in the eye, and this was probably the most serious look you've seen on him. “I'm asking for help.”

“And what would I get out of it?” You ask stubbornly, not wanting to make it easy for him. 

“You choose.”

That surprised you, and it must have shown. 

“Within reason, of course. I'm not made of money and contrary to what you may think, I do have morals.”

“Stop flirting with me.”

“I'm not! I'm genuinely asking for help here!”

“No, no, I meant as payment.” You looked at him with a challenge in your eyes, would he even be able to put aside his flirting? “I help you with history and you, and your whole gang, stop flirting with me.”

“Does it have to be that?” Chan sighs after a moment. 

“You said I get to choose, so yes. And you're not going to die, don't be so dramatic, there's plenty of other girls to flirt with.” You rolled your eyes. 

“But they're not nearly as much fun.” Chan, Chris Bang, school renowned bad boy, was actually whining like a kid right now. “They always expect more from it than there will ever be.”

“You mean they're trying to get in your pants?” You raise an eyebrow. 

“I was trying to avoid putting it so crudely for the lady's sake but since the pretty lady herself said it; yeah, basically.” The smirk was back. 

“That.” You pointed at him. “You see, that's exactly what has to stop.”

“But it's fun!” Whiny 5 year old Chan is back. 

“Do it to other girls. If you want my help with history you have to stop flirting. At the very least for the sake of professionalism.”

“Fine,” he was quiet for a moment. “No flirting, but is banter okay?” 

“Sorry, what?” You were more confused that he was asking you at all than at the actual question. 

“You know, friendly banter? Roasting each other for fun, like friends usually do?” 

“But we’re not friends.” 

“Not with that attitude.” He grumbled at your bluntness.

“I honestly didn’t really expect you to agree, so the possibility of being your study buddy is still processing through my brain, friendship is not a topic of discussion at the moment.” You said frankly. 

“I’ll take what I can get.” Chan shrugged. “For now though, gimme your phone, you’ll need my number if we plan to meet up for study dates.” 

“First of all, don’t call them that. Second, you’re walking on thin ice with that line mister.” You warn him with a glare as you hand your phone over to him. Why do you feel like you just made a deal with a demon? 

“What can I say? I like danger.” Chan shrugged again, handing your phone back. 

You expected him to wink at the end of his sentence, but he didn’t. Good. He was actually taking this semi-seriously. You checked what he saved his name as on your phone. “Your study date ;)” okay that wasn’t as bad as you expected. Should you change it to his actual name? Maybe later? It seemed a little rude to change it in front of him. 

“So, is this going to be our first study session or are you busy?” The words kicked you out of your thoughts into the present moment. You put your phone up, deciding you’ll change that stupid name later. 

“I guess we can study right now,” You headed back to his table. “I don’t have any of my history materials with me but I can try to sort out your notes? And I’m not busy for another two hours or so.” You pulled up a chair next to the one he was using, looking over the ocean of papers in front of you and mentally preparing to sort through all of that.

Okay, I’m in a mood and I just finished midnight sun, so I thought I’d put my current motivation to good use and hope it lasts. Let’s start with my opinions and thoughts on the characters of twilight. Part One; Bella Swan

Okay, but like, I actually love Bella Swan so I may be a bit biased but at the same time, I understand that she has flaws and I like to put my perspective on everything. For the most part she’s super unproblematic and her character (like all of the other characters) wasn’t done proper justice which is why I’m so glad that Tumblr has taken them into custody.

Honestly, though, Bella’s personality and characterization was on the fritz and complicated. She was entirely self-sufficient, a care-taker, chill, and ambitious. Like, sure, all she wanted to do was become a high school English teacher/college English professor and live in the sunnier places but man did she work at it. She had a whole ass plan that was derailed when she met and fell in love with Edward and found out about the supernatural. I’m gonna admit, really disappointed after I found this out and then realized she never discovered her dreams. Yeah, she made whole new dreams that she was really happy with and got a fulfilling life in the end but seeing Bella helping out a struggling writer or suggesting certain books to help with someone’s thesis would’ve been super cool.

But on the other hand, the books totally victimized her and made her into a damsel in distress. I know most of her problems were supernatural, scratch that all of her problems were supernatural, but she should’ve been given more power. Why make a heroine if she’s always hiding behind her love interests and never saves herself? Bella also drinks hella dumb bitch juice, which Edward had teasingly pointed out in the hospital after her tussle with James. (Really, it was one of the only things Edward said to her that wasn’t either hating on himself or saying something super shady (like insulting her intelligence or committing himself to her for life even though they’ve only been official for a day)) She will put herself into situations she might not come out of alive but cowers at the little things like needles and prom. Another example of her dumb bitch, self sacrificing, did-not-think-about-this-decision-nearly-as-long-as-I-should-have-so-now-I-have-to-work-with-what-I-got energy is her attempt to bare knuckle box and jujitsu her attempted rapists instead of screaming or running. Commendable bravery and determination, loses points for lack of brain cell use.

If it were me, I would’ve cut Edward off or at least made him work a lot harder than he did. She just let him off the hook whenever he did anything wrong for the sake of keeping him with her. Which makes a lot of sense actually. She’d never been a daughter really. She paid bills, she went grocery shopping, she took care of her house as well as her mother and herself. She’s never had someone take care of her or care for her in the romantical sense and in the giving sense. Most of the boys who liked her, were only attracted to her and wanted to know more about her to see if her interest matched their own. Not for the sake of getting to know her, understand her, but to see if she matched up to the pedestal they put her on. Edward didn’t do that, and I’m not saying their relationship was healthy because it wasn’t, but I can see and understand why Bella latched onto Edward so quickly even though it was super out of character from what we knew of her before their relationship.

Also, I really fucking hate how vulnerable Bella was in New Moon. Like, Edward left her in the fucking woods and she almost died. I would’ve been so angry, and she should’ve been considering that Bella had multiple moments in Twilight where she was displayed to have a temper and even sometimes considered violence against Edward when he pissed her off. She was broken, sitting around lazily and trying her damned hardest not to have a mental breakdown as to not worry her parents and friends anymore than she already had. Her self confidence was gone, she was already insecure, not believing herself good enough for the Cullens and Edward took advantage of that. He took advantage of the fact that no one had ever expressed romantic interest in her therefore she doesn’t have a fucking clue on how anything involving relationships are supposed to work. Bella was mature, Bella grew up too fast, Bella overestimated herself. And she was so emotionally stunted that instead of building up emotions, she held them down and decided to feel nothing. Then she met Edward and truly allowed herself to feel something. And it was too much, seventeen years of living as nothing more than an empathic caregiver took its toll on her and she felt everything at once and intensely. And when he left her, she felt that intensely too.

I don’t know why Stephanie Meyer wanted to further inforce that Bella was beautiful and desirable to the boy students and caused envy from the girl students, except for Angela. It was gross. Bella was so obviously heartbroken and vulnerable and emotionally unavailable but smeyer still had Mike ask her out multiple times and make Jacob’s crush on her grow, which was unfair. She thought multiple times that Jacob was family and made her feel like Bella again. He was a bright happy person with a good sense of humor and a sunny disposition and I felt like his feelings for Bella kinda put a hinder on a great character. Angela, Jacob, and Bella would’ve been an iconic trio of best friends and you can’t tell me otherwise. Bella, Alice, and Rosalie would’ve also been a great trio and that is a non-arguable fact. You cannot tell me that Rosalie would’ve held the same animosity towards Bella had she known what had happened to Bella in Port Angeles. Alice was already Bella’s best friend before they officially even met, so there’s that. P

I absolutely loathe the plot of Eclipse. The love triangle between Edward, Jacob, and Bella had never made any sense but then smeyer forced it even further and made it worse. That non-consensual kiss made me gag. That’s not Jacob’s character. Then Bella all of a sudden growing feelings for him made even less sense. Especially when it was so obvious that she was going to choose Edward over everything just as she always has. I loved the interaction between Bella and Jasper, though, and it has nothing to do with the fact that I ship them. It has more to do with the fact that this was the first unawkward conversation that they had ever had with one another. It wasn’t a exactly light discussion but it really pulled along how involved with every member of the Cullen family in some way. It was cool. The rest of the train wreak included Edward’s inane jealousy and even-creepier-than-usual behavior, the coercion into marriage and sex (because Bella didn’t respect Edward’s morals anymore than Edward respected hers) along with a pressured kiss between Jacob and Bella that was just bad. It ain’t a bad thing when someone doesn’t return your feelings. Jacob, honey, you’re perfect, just not for Bella (or Resume, smeyer). Then Bella and Edward begin planning their wedding, which makes no sense. Bella doesn’t want marriage, she’s against the institution of it. She’s already said that she loves Edward and wants to be with him forever regardless of how she does it. Why isn’t that enough for him? She doesn’t want to end high school with a marriage based on how her parents relationship ended.

Who else thought that Bella’s powers could’ve been cooler or that she shouldn’t have had powers at all? It’s too even. Two couples where neither have gifts and two couples where they both have gifts. It would’ve made more sense if she controlled possibilities or had a subtle way of making things go her way, like Siobhan from the Irish coven. She loved her privacy and separation from others and while that kinda back fired in a way- she was flocked around by others as soon as she walked into school -it also didn’t. For one, obviously Edward could t read her mind. Privacy and solitude from him at least. But at the same time, everyone was pretty much bending over backwards to be near her at all times. What if it was Bella’s subconscious ability acting up and making them want to give Bella whatever she wanted? Of course, since she was human, her abilities couldn’t have been working right, and instead of making people give her what she wanted, she made them have the inexplicable desire to give her what she wanted. And with Edward, he didn’t notice her lack of voice until he focused on her and couldn’t hear her inner voice. After she had set her sights on him. After she’d taken interest and her mind began to shape the reality around her to make her unmistakable and absolutely appealing to someone like Edward, someone who is perpetually bored and self loathing. By silencing her mind so he couldn’t read it and scenting her blood in a way that make it impossible for him to stay away. It’s just really suspicious how Bella never really has any problems that last more than a few days. Except for Edward leaving which-to her at least-was a huge problem. But she is human and doesn’t know that she even has powers so said powers are bound to fuck up somehow. Or maybe they didn’t, at least not intentionally. The beginning of New Moon featured Bella agonizing over her aging and the belief that Edward and the rest of the Cullens were all better than her. Her subconscious took that to mean that she didn’t want the Cullens around since they were unwittingly destroying Bella’s self-esteem which never really was that high to begin with. So the accident on her birthday never was an accident, it was Bella trying to protect herself because she does t know how to do anything else, she has no one to take care of and is being taken care of for the first time and doesn’t trust the feeling. Because we all know Jasper attacking her makes no sense. For one, he was a disciplined vampire army leader surrounded by bloodthirsty newborns, for another, he killed James with Bella lying in a pool of her own blood not three meters away from him, and lastly, he fucking drove her to the hospital in a hot car while she bled out. You cannot fucking tell me that Jasper just had a lapse in control, that the bloodlust of his family rendered him unable to resist. Nah, Bella just lost control of her powers that just so happened to be cooler than a shield. Because she learned how to master an ability that should’ve taken months and years to master in only a few months. The Volturi walked away and everyone except for Irina made it out alive, including the shapeshifters.

Anyway, in conclusion Bella is a BAMF who loses her brain cells over the course of two years.

like it’s funny, MARINA’s Electra Heart is used as an aesthetic constantly but I almost never hear anything about its actual content so here are the best things about one of the best albums of all time

Got a figure like a pin-up, got a figure like a doll / Don't care if you think I'm dumb, I don't care at all

Bubblegum Bitch is an absolute bop to start off but it plays super well with this superficial ideal – it’s an introduction to the album as something just slightly satirical and also as a medium used to explore the roles women are placed within, and it establishes the idea of the songwriter playing a character

my favorite thing said about Primadonna is actually something Marina says: “It’s about not needing anybody when it comes to love—your raison d'être is to live for adoration. Girls usually feel like this when they are not appreciated in a relationship.” like, it’s her owning this thing that her ex-boyfriend used to throw at her. metal

the sort of rising howling oooooh right before the final chorus of Lies

also the way she sings you only ever touch me in the dark 

Homewrecker is this same reclaiming as Primadonna but also a statement on Why we express ourselves in that type of deceptive romanticism

But deep down all you want is love / the pure kind we all dream of / but we cannot escape the past / so you and I will never last

this idea of there being no real point to trying to make it last because you’re projecting this image so hard

you don’t love me / big fucking deal / I’ll never tell / you how I feel

I have sooooo much to say about Starring Role that can’t fit here but some underrated elements include: the notes in the background of the chorus that start over “when you are not the starring role”; how the music starts out pretty simple and sad and builds up in this almost desperate way; how it uses Primadonna imagery as a demand to simply be loved back

you’re like my dad / you’d get on well / i’ll send my best / regards from hell is absolutely one of the most Oh-Shit lyrics ever written it still makes me gasp every time I listen to it

Ending State of Dreaming on the simple line “my life is a play”

the transition from the stark abrupt realism of Starring Role to the dreamy music of State of Dreaming, and then going from this dreamy song to a song about being in control

yeah you may be good looking but you’re not a piece of art

the all-over-the-place bridge of Power & Control and how she goes from saying “doesn’t mean that I am weak” and just continues repeating “I am weak” over much more haunting music

I can’t decide which one of these is the best rhyme ever: I wanna be a bottle blond / I don’t know why but I feel conned vs I want back my virginity / so I can feel infinity

some cool shit said about Valley of the Dolls: “This song is like breaking point – it’s poising on the edge, and listener doesn’t know if Electra will manage to fight or she’s gonna be defeated to the point of suicide.”

how after that song about alienation, we move back into Hypocrates, a song that’s so much a breakdown and a statement of lack of ownership

the fact that Hypocrates is used both as a reference to being a hypocrite and doctor – like someone who wants to diagnose her problems

also like I know Buy the Stars isn’t on the US version but since the lyric is similar please just know that the delivery of the line “you know only how to own me” in that song is fucking Gorgeous

this might be known by others but in looking through the lyrics for this album I discovered that the reason Living Dead, Lonely Hearts Club, and Buy the Stars aren’t on the US deluxe (and probably the reason Sex Yeah is in a different place too) is because they were written for a different conception of this album. 

which is actually interesting in terms of thematic coherency -- this album is focused on the Four Archetypes, yes, but it’s essentially about 1) the relationship between love and control, 2) owning the insults that are thrown at women, and 3) emptiness. and I’d guess Hypocrates and Sex Yeah were both originally on the first album.

with That being said, How to Be a Heartbreaker changed me as a person at age 11 and still remains one of the most iconic beats I’ve ever heard.

honestly dude the bridges on this album are all very confessional and also all honestly slap way too hard

Radioactive is such a bop but also hurts? this song, to me, is about the conflict between desire for control and the way you feel around someone else; it’s about attempting to close off emotion in an attempt

the entire decision to end on Fear and Loathing 

this track... fucks. like it begins with this really sad statement about filling your heart with emptiness and then transitions into this statement on deciding to let go, and also the high notes oh my god, and the way she sings the chorus repeat, and also the damn ending.

And when the time comes along / And the lights run out / I know a light will burn on / When they blow me out

I think on a story level you can think of this song as the character letting go or maybe dying, but you can also think of it as the songwriter letting go -- this is an album about performance, of stereotypes or of control or of emptiness, and this song is letting go of all those things, letting go of trying to have it all and trying to divide yourself into archetypes and just being. which is wonderful

Falsetto’s Tour Review...

Sooo nobody caresss but I saw Toursetto’s Sunday June 2nd with Nick Adams as Whizzer, Max von Essen as Marvin, Eden Espinosa as Trina, Nick Blaemire as Mendel, Audrey Cardwell as Cordelia, Bryonha Marie Parham as Charlotte, Thatcher Jacobs as Jason an here are my thoughts ! 

♔ When I saw the block sitting in the middle of the stage I almost started crying ♔I couldn’t make out what they were saying at the beginning of Four Jews, but I’ve seen people say that Nick Adams says “Yeehaw” lol 

♔When Eden sings slavery-- she sings the OBC version instead of the higher notes Stephanie did ♔ I was sHOOK when Max opened his mouth to sing and sounded SO MUCH LIKE CHRISTIAN BORLE??? I was so WOW ♔ The Thrill of First Love gave me such a different vibe than the Revival version did. For starters, I did not hate Marvin in act one which is really unusual. In this song I usually view Marvin as mean and abusive, but I just felt myself feeling bad for him. This version of the song was more playful and less aggressive I think. ♔Whizzer doesn’t say “wash n’ wear” he says something like “what is this? A poly -blend?” ♔Marvin rips open Whizzers shirt and damn Nick Adams has some serious muscles lol ♔NICK BLAEMIRE??? Was soooo funny. He had me laughing to the point of tears. He was absolutely amazing. ♔ I didn’t realize in ‘Marvin at the Psychiatrist’ Whizzer was pissed when they called him ‘smarmy’ ♔Jason is so cute and his voice is so big ♔ When he says “just because you failed as parents” he says it through his teeth and his voice is really quiet ♔ I’m not sure what it was about Max portrayal, but he was literally just sad and decrepit. (Of course I didn’t like Marvin, but he just felt less mean) ♔ When they pull the chair away from him at the end of This Had Better Come to a Stop, Marvin turns and literally face plants ♔I’m breaking down was absolutely the highlight of Act I. Eden Espinosa was absolutely fucking amazing. In both productions, it was clear that Trina was having a breakdown, but here its less tears and more cackling and laughing. ♔ When she said “you ask is it fun to cry over nothing?” Her face was totally blank and sarcastic ♔ Of course we love a queen chopping a penis banana. ♔”Sure things’ll probably worsen but it’s not like I’m some happy person” she sits in the middle of the stage and laughs hysterically for a good ten seconds. ♔ “A freak who needs it maybe every other week” she stops and feels her boobs and sighs saying “ohhhhhhhh that feels reallllllly gooooooood” ♔ Every Trina belting with a banana in her mouth is a fucking icon. ♔ She fucking bolted off stage with the knife in her hand lol ♔ “YAH,, this is Mendel wisenbach-FÉLDDD” ♔ When Trina says “chicken marengo” she rolls the ‘r’ im gay dont @ me ♔ When Trina says “I’ll wait for you” she holds out the note really long as she runs of the stage with the chicken marengo and then theres a crash and offstage she shouts (SHIT) ♔ During a marriage proposal,, after he says biblical times— theres a long pause and Marvin leans in and was like “YOURE DOING GREAT” ♔ March of the Falsettos was amazing,, and somehow?? Nick Adams still sounded fucking amazing singing it lol. ♔ The chess game was heartbreaking as always. I just fricking love nick?? He did so well. Also Max??? seemed so much less aggressive than christian borle… and just more disappointed. Idk how to describe it. ♔ I don’t know how I just realized that they are making a home out of what’s left of the set after Marvin and whizzer break up ♔ THE GAMES THAT I PLAY?? ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT OF THIS ACT. Nick sounded sooo amazing and I either got chills from how cold the theater was or from his voice and I’m pretty sure it was the latter ♔ Marvin hit Trina. Yeah. This was completely heartbreaking. Honestly this Jason was shook to the core and you could see it (when Marvin hit her) and it was probably the saddest part of the scene. ♔ Also Whizzer is the one who made the slapping sound behind Marvin, ♔ Marvin tried to hug Trina and Mendel PUSHED him away ♔ Marvin put his hands on his head and let out this really pained wail.  Honestly I hate him, but I was like damn get help bc it was highkey sad. And poor Trina was trying to comfort Jason. It was a mess. ♔ Father to son was heartbreaking too bc Jason didn’t want to be anywhere near Marvin. Whenever he tried to touch him he would flinch away and Marvin was crying and hngggg. ♔ All I could say is that when he shined the light in our faces and called us homosexuals,,, it was blinding lol ♔ When he said a teeny tiny band and pointed to the orchestra the crowd cheered like crazy which is honestly what they deserved ♔ THE LESBIANS. THE LESBIANS!! Everyone was great in the show, but Dr. Charlotte. wow. She was so fucking amazing. I got excited every time she had a line because I knew she was about to slay. They were really cute together ♔ When Whizzer asks Marvin if he was still ‘queer’ in the baseball game Marvin’s voice got all old and he made his hands shake when he said “It’s been so long since I could tell” ♔ Good news, Nick Adams didn’t have a boner during a day in falsetto land LMFAO ♔ Something bad is happening. I was excited bc as I said. Bryonha is fucking amazing. She. Not only was her singing stellar, her acting was amazing. She was so angry and had so much passion despite her obvious confusion. Also Audrey Cardwell was the cutest Cordelia. ♔ During holding to the ground, three white sheets fall from the ceiling making the hospital room that Whizzer stays in. ♔ Not sure if it means anything, but I realize that the items at the hospital are the only things not made from the cube. Just an observation lol. ♔ I think Nick Adams Whizzer is my favorite (I think acting wise, I like Andrew better, but singing Nick takes the cake.) You gotta die sometime was beautiful and I started crying when he belted the last note. ♔ Jason’s Bar Mitzvah. Yeah. I was crying. They were all smiling but it looked so painful. ♔ Whizzer covered his mouth like he was about to cry and then reached out to touch Jason. He thanked him and left. Jason tried to follow him but Marvin stopped him and ugh. ♔ Before what would I do started playing (in the transition) the white curtains fell to the ground and pulled towards the edge of the stage. And when everything is gone marivin started singing. I like this— it made everything feel officially over. ♔ what would I do. This is my favorite song in the entire show and they were both so amazing I was crying uncontrollably (Even though was orchestra and pretty close to the stage, I was using my opera glasses ((yes I’m that bitch)) and god I could see Max was crying and FUCK I WAS RUINED. ♔ For falsetto land, they bring the block back on stage, and there is a piece sticking out. In the revival, they brought the block together from two pieces on either side of the stage, but in the tour they pushed it from stage left. ♔ Marvins sobs were really LOUD and heartbreaking. ♔ They put a spotlight on the chest piece until the blackout and I. UGH THANK GOD FOR WATERPROOF MASCARA.

♔I have seen so many Broadway In Chicago shows, and WOW this is definitely in my top three. The acting the singing, the orchestra and JESUS IT WAS JUST AMAZING

Broken Bricks- Bellamy x Reader

It has been two weeks since he's been kicked disgracefully out of the Donquixote Family, well...one of the gangs. He dreamed, oh he dreamed of that day. His day of jubilee often turned into one that smelt of blood that he could not forget even if he tried. 

How could he? After all, this is the nightmare he awakes from. His battle cries were supposed to turn into shouts of victory one day but one day greeted him with battle wounds caused by his own. Kicks to the sternum reoccurred each passing day since that fateful one. Only this time each sensation were attacks to his heart, breaking it continuously. 

The man who once did everything he was asked like a good soldier was broken down by the only man you could say was like a father. An icon, his beacon of light. It's funny because all that light and Bellamy still couldn't see the truth- his truth. It has been said, the truth will set you free. Not for your past lover currently bound by mental chains such as doubt, depression, disappointment in himself and self-loathing. 

Rage and confusion coursed through his veins giving you the impression some days that he would snap at any moment. Yet, despite all of that, he assures you with lies about his well being and an almost calm aura is felt. In a way, you are grateful for this. 

As much as it seems twisted to be a bit happy, you cannot hide the feelings as you tend to his wounds both internal and external. You've been patient every step of the way thou you hadn't needed to. 

You, in fact, had no obligation to help your ex the day he showed up at your door battered and utterly bruised. Plump eyes pleading with you, mouth vocalizing through pain he had nowhere else to turn.  

Though you never cared for nor trusted Doflamingo, it would not be fair to say you were not guilty of your own misdeeds. You cheered him on during his life of crime back when he was your lover.

 You advised him in the middle of the night and consoled him whenever he doubted himself. When your words never made it through his head or heart, your body gave him a different kind of speech. A healing he often needed. It had become surprising to you how Bellamy had not yet died. After all, breaking the rule of no defeat was not tolerated, stated by his boss and even though Bellamy was great at redeeming himself, you were often scared of him running out of chances. 

Doflamingo is feared by many and in a gang, it's rare to see this many chances given. You thought of the day when redemption ceases as did your heart for a second in regards to losing him. Yes, he was a criminal but he was also the love of your life. To lose him meant losing your world, something you could not let happen but didn't that very same thing happen? 

'This may be our second chance..his second chance. At life, at change' you pondered. Brown eyes irises study the muscular man currently laying on the bed in your guest room. He knew he'd be safe here. You click your tongue at the realization, sockets squinting at his form. 

''Take a picture won't you'' you hear him say in a gruff voice. You almost smirk 

''Thank's I just might. It can help you see what a sad sack you are right now'' you couldn't tell from your viewpoint but your all to true statement felt like a stab to the chest. The truth hurts is what they say though isn't? He grinds his teeth trying to get the words out without sounding hurt even if it is the very definition of what he is. 

''You still have a knack for saying things nonchalantly I see.'' your eyes roll yet the feeling of guilt swells up. You really should be more careful with your words. You know damn well how much he's hurting. Even if you saw it coming. 

''How long are you planning to stay here? Also, are you ready to talk about what happened?'' you know but hearing it from his mouth would be the first step to his healing you supposed. 

''What do you want from me y/n?''

''I'm sorry, aren't you the one who came at my doorstep beaten to plump? I believe that question is mine, thank you very much.'' you pause ''What do you want from me, Bellamy?'' 

At this, his tongue in turn clicks and he becomes more and more irritated fighting to control everything inside him from bursting. Worst of all, you would be a casualty. It's almost foolish of him to think he couldn't let everything out as he once did yet the fact remains you are not together. Coming to you was the best decision while he would try to collect himself and figure out his next move. That doesn't mean he'll be opened with the parts of him you were formerly privy to, on display. As soon as he can, he'll be out of your hair. His jaw tightens before relaxing as a  soft scoff escapes his lips

''You're something you know that? I'll be gone soon''

''Bellamy..'' you sigh ''I was kidding, You can stay here as long as you need but you also gotta let out what's inside you...you don't wanna talk about it and be vulnerable with me because it's a trip down memory lane or something. I get it but it's going to destroy you if you keep bottling it up. Trust me-''

''Y'n...I'm fine'' he bites out ''I got everything handl-''

''You ain't got shit, Bellamy. You ain't got your street rep, you ain't got your team, you ain't got your girl, you definitely don't have him but you know what you do have? Your ass....handed to you on a dirty platter. You have no one, you ain't got no family, you ain't got nobody-'' The blonde male shoots from the bed, eating up the space between you both. He gets in your face aggravated and distraught by your verbal assault. It's not welcoming on the receiving end but if you get him to explode then you could get him to remove all on his chest. You were never good at these things but ticking someone off you could do. If it works out, you may even be successful in getting him to bash or break apart objects you have set up, as a way to release stress and express his anger and his hurt. Then he might breakdown and release tears he'd been restricting as your body does the comforting. Holding him if he needs.

''Do you have to do this? What did I do to you to make you want to rub my pain in my face like this?''

You cock your head up meeting his gaze fiercely ''You left me.'' Memories of your past relationship resurfaced in the male's mind. There was a time you became distant, almost as if you were unhappy. Of course, this was something he didn't much attention to. Too busy, too much...

''You left me for him'' you say bitterly while he throws his hands in the air turning around before facing you again with a look of disbelief etching across his face. 

"You left me! You broke up with me! When everything was finally going my way, when I needed you, you deserted me y/n'' 

You pushed off from your position leaning against the wall with a dangerous expression

 ''I lost you way before that time when you sought out to redeem yourself for the thousand time to that man. Proving yourself..'' you paused reflecting ''I was there for you, loyal to you but I was never able to compete with him. No matter what I did...I lost you a long time ago and no matter...no matter how many times I tried bringing your attention back to me, it never lasted. You said you needed me and I believed you. I believed in you..and when I tried to warn you'' you point at your former lover tears building up, anger sparking'' you shut me down and accused me false accusations. It was silly of me..to think I needed to swim deep to save you when you had strings attached to you saving you from drowning. While you were swept up, I ended up sinking. Now here you are, needing me now that you don't have him.'' you spat that last statement truly bitter about the truth in it.

Unable to look you in the eyes, blinded by his own tears threatening to spill, Bellamy takes his leave from the small space marching out of the house. You follow him outside to the front yard of your farmhouse and yanked his bicep backwards.

''I am tired of you always walking away!  You always do this Bellamy. I deserve some closure, some answers. Something dammit!''

''You don't think I know that?!'' He roared ''I know I've hurt you, I've pushed you past your breaking point. I'd given everything to him. My very life I would've given up if that's how it should be. I've lost my men trying to prove my worth to him over and over. Yet, every time I think I've finally got myself on track to becoming one with him..his f-family, I lose..'' his voice breaks lost in his memories. ''but he gave me a chance..when no one and I mean no one gave me any. I had a chance to not be some little no good, thug. I had a chance to be important, acknowledged. He wasn't some random obsession, he wasn't just my boss. He was the man who I respect the most in this entire world, the only father figure I had. Before you, there was him. Giving me chance after chance to prove myself and be someone. He tricked me..you know. He knew I wouldn't come out of that situation.. successful'' he says biting out the word 

''You gave him everything in you and it still wasn't enough'' The realisation dawned on has his heart shattering more than it ever did these past weeks. 

''All that loyalty you gave him and what did you get in return? He was blinded to it as you were blinded to mine. I wasn't enough. It breaks my heart because I know the the pain you're going through is immense but I can't help but be angry at the things that I could not change lost in our individual universes too far apart to fix anything and it hurts so much because my love never felt like enough and I still love you to this day with every fibre in my being that it hurts. Your adamant loyalty and admiration I felt more than your love for me but hearing you and seeing it from your perspective I know the betrayal has you fucked up so bad right now'' your voice cracks as tears stream down your face. 

''I'm so sorry y/n. I'm so so-'' his voice croaks out as your body jolts and makes its way to the ground. As if he's paralyzed Bellamy stays in his spot unable to make a move utterly shocked by the scene before his eyes. A broken sound of your name spills from the man's lips. Running toward you felt heavy as if his feet are running in water. Finally grasping you at the last moment his voice begs you to stay with him as the blood seeps from it brutal wound. Nothing matters right now except willing you to stay awake and alive. Funny thing to wish, for now, to stay with him.

Nothing can be worse right now but his irises come in contact with a pair all too familiar and just like that, betrayal makes its way back into his life. How could he tell though that a dead man would do the dirty deed? How could he have known that a man he mourned for would come to take his precious flower away?  As his shirt presses into your wound where you lay on the ground, he tries to shield you away from the attacker.

''W-why?'' Bellamy chokes out 

''It's business, it's not personal''

''N-not personal?!'' 

''Yes'' the assailant raises his firearm ''This is the price you pay for being weak'' Bellamy covers your body with his. Back facing his enemy, tears rushing down his face looking down at you as a million wishes and thoughts parade his mind.

''I love you'' a kiss is lain your lips and hoping you'd be the princess that magically mounts from her slumber.

 Hoping this is just another nightmare haunting him but arise he will too.

 Hoping he would make it up to you.

Hoping to hold you close to him and thank you for being there. Seeing clearly, no one else was.

They all thought him a loser anyway when word hit the streets. You never thought the worst of him. 

Hoping to wake up to hear you constantly encouraging him when his thoughts felt all-consuming. 

Hopefully he would wake up and talk it out like you wanted, hopefully, the healing would start. 

Hopefully, he and you could be happy.

Z Berg and Ryan Ross Concert Masterpost

hello and I am sorry that I promised to post before Christmas about my experience of flying to LA for the Z Berg and Friends concert where I saw and met Ryan Ross. Here is a breakdown of the night and how it went from what I remember and if you have any questions after I post this I will do my best to answer them and if I cannot I will tell you and perhaps someone who can answer you question better than I.

1. anything before the concert

So I know many of the people reading this are not in fact, from Los Angeles California, and I can say I am not one of those people. I live in the middle of nowhere, better known as the state of Oklahoma. So the trip in and of itself was my Christmas present and cost ten times over the price of the ticket to the concert itself. I decided to purchase the tickets after Ryan Ross posted to instagram his photo of the Bad List shoot with “…Gonna play some new ones” as the caption to his post on 30th November. I then convinced three of my friends to come with me, flying from Oklahoma, Georgia and another from Alabama. We found some cheap ass tickets that ran about $250 each and convinced some family friends to let us use their beach house for a weekend and we were off. The tickets were $15.00 before taxes and fees, afterwards they rang up to be a grand total of $18.21.

It is notable that the tickets sold out prior to the day of the concert so I would recommend with any of Z’s concerts in the future, to buy your tickets weeks in advance to avoid anyone not getting a ticket.

2. the day of the concert

a. before doors open

The location of the concert was at the Pico Union Project which my friends and I looked up the night before to scope out the place. I recommend looking up the places around it if you plan on camping out for the day for a restroom and most definitely pack snacks. I ate lunch at noon and made the mistake of not eating again until 6am the next day which really was not a good thing. So pack snacks and take care of yourself. We got there around 3:30pm and there were already about 30ish people. We just missed Z coming out early to see everyone and take pictures, but nonetheless, we got a pretty great spot in line. I will say that for the most part, all of the people waiting outside the concert were lovely, and we all had a great time talking about what we were looking forward to and where everyone was from. I met some chill locals who had been to these things before, a guy who had been to every single one of Z’s concerts and a girl who, like me, got this trip as a Christmas present and flew with her mom all the way from Massachusetts.

*We all added eachother on insta and facebook so 10/10 quality people.

I will however, point out some things that were not good or respectful, and I hope people in the future will refrain from doing this in the future. 

1. Being disrespectful to people passing by, especially to some of the homeless people we saw walking by throughout the evening. 

2. Wearing new Panic! merch (I’ll get into this later because there was an issue to be dealt with during the meet and greet time.)

3. Playing new Panic! songs while people are trying to listen the pre-show sound check and rehearsals, or just playing new Panic! stuff in general

4. Also I overheard a group of girls say “Honestly, I am more of a Brendon fan, he is sooo hot. And tbh fuck Ryan Ross haha” and I get it, everyone is entitled to their opinion and such but if you are going to have that attitude, please keep it to yourself. I didn’t hear such negativity during the meet and greet from them but it really put me in a bad mood when I heard that.

The doors did open right at 8 o’clock and everyone was really good at staying in their place in line and not rushing the door. Have your tickets ready to scan and phones at full brightness. (Bring battery packs because you will need your phone for a ticket scan and probably for pics of the performances and if you want to meet them later so save it for as long as possible.) Due to our great spot in line we sat in the fourth row back which was prime seating and we had the great luck of sitting behind Z’s family which was really fun to hear them talk about the work put into the show and other fun tid bits. There was even a point when her grandmother said something like “I don’t know why they insisted on leaving so late to get here. I think they should have left early and had a nice lunch before all this” and I thought that was the most adorable and grandma thing to say. Also if you are 21 or older, you can get a wristband for alcohol, if you have your ID out and ready to show them when you first walk into the venue when they scan your ticket. I also recommend getting into the line for merch quickly because things do sell out and the line does take forever. I immediately got in line when my ticket was scanned while my friends snagged seats and it still took me about 20-30 minutes to get everything I wanted. Also I recommend taking cash to buy things, it makes everything go faster.

b. the concert

The concert itself was amazing. Z hosted the entire first half from the balcony in an exact replica of Sharon Tate’s wedding dress as I am sure you have seen photos of. I will confirm, it was magical. She curses like a sailor in front of a backdrop of pure grace. She interacted with he audience the entire time and genuinely enjoys just spending time with her fans and the people that came to hear some good music. The first half of the show was the “& Friends” portion of the show, with majority of the people playing one song each with a few exceptions such as Azure Ray, Jackson Browne, Alex Greenwald and of course, Ryan Ross. 

So throughout the concert, people in the concert/show (idk what I would call it officially???) would come in and out from backstage to watch each other, which I thought was wholesome. Ryan did not come out to watch like everyone else and my working theory is, the one time he did poke his head out the door, first of all, me and like 10 other people saw him, he smiled and winked (I died) and then went back in, after that people stopped paying attention to whomever was onstage and so I think he didn’t want to take away from the other acts performing. It's admirable and I understand why he stayed backstage until it was his time to go and then would promptly exit after his numbers were done. 

In the first half Ryan came out with Alex Greenwald and played the guitar for him. Everyone screamed and cheered despite the wonderfully melancholic mood of the crowd mixed with the beautifully crestfallen music that had preceded them. Alex jokingly said “wow you guys are so nice” after we screamed following the remark someone in the back made along the lines of “I love you Ryan”. Let’s be honest, we were all thinking it and she had the courage to say it. So as far as the number, he sat and played his guitar in a suit that looked one size too big and jet black hair that was perfectly out of place. It was heaven. Following Alex’s song, Ryan ditched the guitar and joined him to sing “Lonely Moonlight” as a duet. He made jokes prior to the song saying they wrote it “18 or 25 years ago”. Alex agreed and laughed to which Ryan amended “actually it was the year 1825 when we wrote this” and the crowed giggled with them. 

What I’m getting at is this entire concert, there were moments when you felt like no one else was around and you are sitting in any one of their living rooms, having a good time listening to them play their music and laugh with each other. “Lonely Moonlight” was beautiful and the hall was silent a part from them, no one dared speak until Ryan smiled and walked off the stage and disappeared backstage again. A few more beautiful songs later, many which Z sang in followed and then there was a brief intermission for approximately 15 minutes. 

The second half of the concert Z came back on stage to the “Overture” from Nightmare Before Christmas and I died. Her voice is literally angelic and I just want everyone to know that while you damn well know that she knows she has the best fuckin’ voice ever, she remained absolutely graceful about it in any duet she did and didn’t try to out do anyone and remained humble the entire freaking time and I’m gonna cut myself off right now because she is my role model. 

*inhales* 

Anyways, so I’m just gonna tell you she brought Ryan on stage with one of the most iconic ways you could bring Ryan on stage, “Um, haha, I think I need a little baby Ryro” *everyone screams* “I do that to when he walks into a room. After ten years it is getting pretty fuckin’ annoying” and he smiled and laughed and everyone was probably either screaming or crying or a combination of both. She and Ryan sang “Calm Before the Storm” together, he just sang with her and she played the guitar as well. After his bit in the song was done, he just walked to the back of the stage and sat on the floor and just smiled at her and did some funny gestures, (Again, I have this on video, I just don’t know how to link long videos in a tumblr post). The crowd was amused by this and it caused Z to turn around to see what was going on, and they laughed. 

Again the atmosphere was pure enjoyment and I wish everyone would get to experience that at any concert. Then he walked off stage while Z said “yeah we just love to watch you walk away” and truer words have never been spoken. The final time he did come out to perform was, of course, for “The Bad List”. 

c. The Bad List

Yes I am giving this one song an entire thing on it’s own because I just have a lot of things to say about this performance of this song. 

First of all, during the soundcheck while we (all the crazy fans) were outside we heard the song resonate outside the walls and the sound was angelic, so you could only imagine what it sounded like inside the venue. 

Second, everything before, during, and after really just was surreal and thank god I have the whole thing on video (and I mean the WHOLE 7.5 minutes) because it is NOT something I want to ever forget. Ryan came onstage, and hugged Z and everyone awed, and then she went into this adorable and heart-warming speech thanking her fans and the people coming out tonight while Ryan tried to move his mic to the other side of her. 

This was hilarious for two reasons. 

First, any footage I have seen of Ryan Ross, out doing normal people things has just been gold because just like the rest of us, I would imagine, he is on the struggle bus every day going nowhere fast. So he had a time and a half trying to move the mic stand along with everything else to the other side of the stage. 

Second, Z was completely oblivious the entire time he was trying his best, to move the mic. Adorable really. He also chimed in at the end of her speech that “She means that it’s all she has been talking about all week” which apparently embarrassed her but let’s be real, she is two perfect and sweet to even think abou tbeing embarassed. Don’t worry, she got him back by calling him out for saying they should turn up the piano “a weenie bit”. Then she announced they were going to sing “The Bad List” and everyone cheered to which Ryan responded with a sarcastic “Wait have you heard it yet?” and yeah, the song began. 

It was divinely depressing. It was perfection.

Videos of the preformance don’t do it justice. We were the first and so far the only audience to hear it live, and everything I did to get there up to this point was worth it. It was the best performance of any song I have ever witnessed. I will navigate this hell site and hopefully figure out how to upload the video without getting copyright to take it down on my youtube channel and link it below so you guys can watch it. 

As many of you know, the song it super personal to them and a few times, you heard Z’s voice break from the truth the lyrics spoke about their life, and when each of them sang, the other really didn’t look at them. It was moving to see the emotion that drove the lyrics to the song and to hear which lines bled the most to each of them. In the piano instrumental part of the song, Ryan broke up the melancholy mood by asking Z to dance with him and they smiled and had a blast (or so it looked). She eventually went limp in his arms to play dead and you could see Ryan laughing at the theatrics she pulled. 

After the song ended, the smiled, everyone cheered, and they exchanged a few words which I couldn’t make out before she pulled everyone on stage for the final number. Ryan, ever the smol bean, walked to the side of the stage and did his best to blend in when everyone else from the evening piled on stage.

d. last number and Post-concert

Ok so I am almost done, I promise. The last number was “All Out of Tears” which everyone came up on stage for and sang with her on. Everyone stood up from thier pews for the last song and everyone clapped, danced, and sang along with her. The guitar and bass from the speakers were so loud that the “Z” hanging above the stage fell down in the middle of the performance, to which Alex Greenwald played the tambourine to throughout the second half of the song. Z promised that she would stay until the very last person got a picture or hug or autograph and wouldn’t leave until then. 

The concert ended on a high note unlike another. 

side note: so I know there is a joke about Ryan not being able to clap, and let me tell you, I made a point to look at the big ass rings he wears all the time when I met him, and yeah it would make me not able to clap normal either. In the video I have of them preforming “All Out of Tears” he at one point shakes his hands and mouths “ow” because I’d imagine his poor hands hurt. So yeah, still funny but give the guy a break.

After a breif break they all came out from backstage and made their way to the Christmas tree. They (Ryan and Z, the rest of the people left before I could get their autograph) kept their promise. Ryan came out chugging yellow red bulls and Z was a new woman after ripping off her straps to her dress (she told me and my friends this). I waited two and a half hours in line to meet Ryan and Z. It was at about two in the morning when I finally got my turn to speak to him. I noticed throughout the evening, he was never short with anyone, and if someone seemed overwhelmed and nervous (@me) he would take a pause, ask for your name and listen intently to whatever that person had to say to him. I was extremely nervous to have him sign any old Panic! merch and I have a few things to say about Ryan Ross and Panic! merch at the concert.

First off, don’t wear it, especially if it is new. Now I am not one for gatekeeping on a lot of things. However, I did see an individual (my hero) make a girl take of a new Panic! lanyard before she went up to see Ryan. It is disrespectful and frankly insensitive for anyone to do that to him in my opinion. The entire time he was patient, and understanding and omg if you ever get to hear his chuckle you will surely die and go to heaven, but I am appalled at anyone who would wear new Panic! merch or have the audacity to have him sign it. Thankfully, she took it off and I didn’t see anyone ask him to sign any new Panic! merch.

Second, Ryan is more than delighted to see The Young Veins apparel. One of the people I met at the concert was wearing a Young Veins sweatshirt and I saw some albums and CD’s people brought to him to sign and he had no issue doing so. 

Third, on the issue of Panic! merch he WAS a part of, such as AFYCSO and Pretty. Odd. albums, he signs them no problem. The girl right before me had all three CD’s (afycso, pretty odd, and take a vacation) and he said “Wow haha, you have all three of them” and laughed. I split up the stuff I wanted signed between myself and three friends so I got four things signed. One was my 2007 Rolling Stones issue where Panic! made the cover, I flipped the magazine to the page that had his face on it and when I gave it to him I had the best reaction. 

Well, first I totally blanked out so I only remember this because one of my friends videotaped the whole thing. Anyways, I said “hi, don’t hate me for what I am about to have you sign” among other things, gave him a letter and a bag of sour patch kids, and he said, no worries and just continued talking to me like it was no big deal. when I handed him the magazine he went “Oh man, I haven’t seen this photo in a while.” and even was stumped as to where he should sign it. He took the time to talk to me and let me say what I wanted to say to him. I asked to hug him and he said ok. Just so you know, he lets you take any kind of photo you want (within reason). Unfortunately I don’t have a single photo where we are looking at the same camera, but I have a 10/10 photo of Ryan Ross giving me a hug and let me just say, I am blessed. Another of my friends got an afysco vinyl signed and another got the booklet to my Pretty. Odd. CD signed without any issue or trouble. 

Now, my friend had a silver sharpie which I gave her before to sign a poster I bought of the cover of The Bad List with him and Z on it and she said he went to sign it, started to, then saw the silver sharpie, and went, “that is a silver sharpie” and she went, “it is” and then he said “I want to sign with the silver sharpie” so he signed my poster AGAIN in silver sharpie. Then, she went to Z to have her sign it, and she signed it and said “Wait, did he sign this twice? Well now I have to” and she signed the poster at the top in the middle and again on the picture. So that is the story of how I got the poster signed twice by both of them. 

e. Tid bits

I don’t think you want to hear all of the tid bits I have from talking to them on and off for an hour or so but here are the highlights.

I also got to hear Ryan say he made the Christmas playlist that was playing in the background. 

At one point, Z said, “I have to go to the bathroom, but he will be mad at me if he knows I left. Don’t tell him” and ran to the bathroom. Well Ryan did notice and went “where did she go” and we said “She said we can’t tell you” and he laughed and went back to signing and talking to whoever was next in line. 

Before I left Ryan I said to him “by the way, I can’t wait to hear the new music” and he chuckled and replied “Soon, I promise” and smiled before I left, so there’s that. 

Also might I add. I got the best hug of my life from Z. I spent like two solid minutes with my fiends telling her she was absolute perfection (there are no lies in that statement) and gushed over how amazing the show was and everything else and then she game me a solid, and I mean solid, 30 second hug and to be honest I didn’t want to let go. Then we talked to her some more and had a good time and then realized we had to leave because we had about 2 and a half hours until we had to be at LAX for our flight out. I cried on the way back because hello? I met Ryan Ross and Z Berg and you best believe I will do just about anything to make sure I can go to any more of her concerts.

10. Hivemind by The Internet - TI are insanely underrated and definitely helped me remember how much I adore R&B music. I literally love the bass lines so much - I’ve learned about half of the ones off this record, honestly. Syd’s vocals are amazing as ever, seamless and sexy and gorgeous, and I just, I love R&B music so much, gotta get into more soul shit. Favorite track: Bravo.

9. Sweetener by Ariana Grande - Somehow Ari flew under my radar for years; I simply did not care about her, and rarely heard her music on the radio, let alone sought it out. But some friends succeeded in getting me into it, and now I respect her as a singer and a person. She’s been through hell, and I admire her strength. Not to mention she’s incredibly talented as a singer. I have a hard time with pop records, because of the lack of substance and depth, but this record is a look into a person I think we’d come to forget was a person at all; it’s all her feelings, her heart on her sleeve, and it’s awesome. Not to mention her voice is literally so damn pleasant to listen to, I could fall asleep to it, haha. Favorite track: Successful. 

8. Dirty Computer by Janelle Monae - Miss Monae literally has so much going for her. She’s so immensely talented at everything, and after her success in the film industry, it was nice to witness her return to music. Dirty Computer is fun, personal, and reminds you that Janelle deserves a lot more attention and admiration as a musician, because she does some really innovative and unique stuff that is always something special to behold. She’s a damn good rapper, too, and the accompanying short film to this record was really cool. Favorite track: Screwed. 

7. Pray for the Wicked by Panic! At The Disco - After being a fan for literal ages, I finally saw Panic this year, so that was pretty damn cool. Pretty much DoaB Part Two, but that’s not a bad thing. The music is fun, Brendon’s vocals are as awesome as ever, the production is smooth as hell, and the songs were a damn blast live. A little too uppity for me, but several of the songs have been on replay at times. Favorite track: One of the Drunks. 

6. Trench by Twenty One Pilots - I have a love-hate relationship with 21p, and I’m not emo anymore, so I nearly didn’t even listen to this record, but I did, and I, grudgingly, liked it very much. It doesn’t deviate significantly from the sound of Blurryface, but incorporates a lot more bass in (which I appreciate, as a bassist). It’s also notable this album was lighter in tone, at least sonically. That’s nice. Had a bit of punk, in there, a New Wave sound, almost. Pretty interesting. And deep subject matter. I wish this band hadn’t been spoiled for me. Damn. Favorite track: Bandito. 

5. Queen by Nicki Minaj - A truly fitting title. Nicki’s always exuded a majestic sort of power, a confidence, strength, and sexiness we all can admire, and she’s never faltered in that, but she’s definitely at her top form here.  Favorite track: Barbie Dreams. The Biggie-sampled beat makes an already awesome song even better. This is essentially Nicki’s Control; honest, biting, but also wonderfully comedic and light-hearted. I will literally never forget listening to this for the first time, absolutely awed at every rapper she managed to playfully go at, and how clever each sneak-diss was. 

4. KOD by J. Cole - Cole’s been my favorite for years, and each of his recent albums have resonated with me deeply because of how genuine he comes across, even when he’s rapping about the typical things a rapper might rap about. Somehow Cole does it in a unique way and always makes it his own, so I never tire of the same topics. And he’s real, real as fuck; unapologetic and confident, but not assholish or excessively cocky. I really applaud him for that. Favorite track: 1985. Cole’s proudly embracing the fact that he’s not a youngin in the rap game anymore, and taking the role of a older figure, a wise one who advises his younger peers to reconsider their careers and their admittedly slim chances of remaining relevant. It’s brutally honest, harsh but not cruel, and absolutely admirable. Not the mention the beat is chill as fuck. Whole thing gives me goosebumps; easily one of the highlights of Cole’s career. 

3. Kamikaze by Eminem - Okay, I’m a former hardcore stan who’s turned critical in recent years, but this record fully blew me away. Marsh got relevant again! With the dope flows! Damn! One of my favorite parts of this record was the reactions - watching people remember that Em is not one to be fucked with. Not to mention the now-iconic MGK beef. What a bunch of horseshit. Killshot totally roasted the dude, though. Favorite track: The Ringer. What a way to open a record! Holy shit. I re-listened to this one repeatedly because it was so unexpectedly incredible, with the way the flow is changed up frequently, and the wordplay never falters, clever as ever. Renewed a lot of people’s faith in Em’s abilities, I think; myself included.

2. Iridescence by Brockhampton - In last year’s post I said how excited I was for what the future had in store for BH; and boy, was this year a good one for them. On this record, despite the absence of Ameer, they hold their own without him; Matt, Joba, and Dom even seem to step up to the plate, in fact, and each member spits fire, so that the manic energy from the Saturation Trilogy remains. Said trilogy helped them establish their winning song-writing and production formula, and this record polishes it.  Favorite track: Weight. Absolute goosebumps. The whole track has an otherworldly energy, but the transition from Joba’s verse into Dom’s is especially visceral. Joba’s holds an enthusiastic nihilism of sorts, and optimistic perception of life’s pain, while Dom’s is deeply depressive and harrowing, his voice full of a hurt and his words holding a wisdom beyond his years. It’s a beautiful track, through and through. 

1. Post Traumatic by Mike Shinoda - This album pretty much saved me this year. I’m very thankful to Mike for putting his feelings to music, because these tracks helped me sort out mine, and I connected to each individual song in a way I haven’t in a long time. I would actually kill to go to a show of his; it’d probably be somewhat of a spiritual thing for me, considering how deeply even the studio versions resonate. Favorite track: Hold It Together. I literally love every song on this album (except IOU...), and each is uniquely special, deeply personal, and beautifully resonates, but this one stands out for some reason. I think that breakdown towards the end adds a lot. Some other favorites are About You, Ghosts, Make It Up As I Go, and Running From My Shadow. And there’s not even words for Brooding.

honorable mentions

Expectations by Hayley Kiyoko - This one very nearly made my list, but Hivemind ending up dethroning it. It’s a great debut, full of gay bops that really kicked off 20gayteen well, I’d say. (Favorite track: Wanna Be Missed. Fun fact: My most listened song for all of 2018.)

Mania by Fall Out Boy - It’s unfortunate that my long-time favorite band didn’t make the list, but I just couldn’t get into the sound of this record. (Favorite track: Sunshine Riptide)

Bloom by Troye Sivan - He’s so big now! A big boy! I’m so proud of how far he’s come. I wasn’t as big on this album as I was on Blue Neighbourhood, but it’s still a solid sophomore record. (Favorite track: Dance to This)

Be the Cowboy by Mitski - Mitski’s sound is an aquired taste... I’m still not entirely in love with it, it’s so otherwordly in a jarring way? But I applaud her innovation. (Favorite track: Nobody)

Lake Effect Kid by Fall Out Boy - The Chicago fuckers strike again! While the themes took away from the, uh, relatability, of the music, they’re still solid tracks that deviate from their earlier 2018 effort in a pleasant way. (Favorite track: Super Fade)

My Dear Melancholy by The Weeknd - Abel is one of my favorite musicians of all time (and was my most listened to for two years in a row) and he’d never disappoint me. MDM is sad, harrowing, and visceral, proof that Abel continues to be one of the best artists of this decade. (Favorite track: Call Out My Name)

Upcoming DC Movies: Full DCEU Release Date Calendar

The DC Extended Universe is in full swing! With a healthy schedule of upcoming DC movies in development, the DCEU isn’t going away anytime soon, and there’s still lots to look forward to.

So, it’s time to take a look at all of the DCEU superhero movies that will be released over the next few years. And trust us, there are a ton of them on the way, and we expect more details will be announced as we go forward. We have all the release dates for every one of ’em right here, as well as official details, the most interesting rumors, and suggestions for further reading where appropriate.

Thanks to HBO Max, The Suicide Squad is on schedule for August 2021, with The Batman, Aquaman 2, Black Adam, The Flash, and more due in 2022, . There’s a bright future for the newly revitalized DCEU movies!

Here’s how this works, because the schedule is getting a little weird. We’re starting with the DCEU movies that officially have release dates attached to them. Then we’ll get into the stuff that we know for 100% certain is in development, but that don’t have release dates yet. Then we’ll get into some of the long shots, the projects that are announced but quiet or seemingly dead, at the bottom.

Keep in mind that many of these are the CURRENT release dates as of this update, and all of these are subject to change. We’ll keep updating this with more information as we get it…

The Suicide Squad

Release date: Aug. 6, 2021

James Gunn (of Guardians of the Galaxy fame) has stepped in to write and direct Suicide Squad 2. This is now called The Suicide Squad, and it’s neither a reboot nor a straight sequel, but still firmly in the DCEU.

The cast is positively bonkers.

Returning from the first film we have Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, and of course Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn Scheduling issues forced Will Smith to bow out of the project as Deadshot.

But then that new cast is wild! John Cena is Peacemaker, with Idris Elba as Bloodsport, David Dastmalchian will play Polka Dot Man. Daniela Melchor will play a new version of Batman villain Ratcatcher…and there’s more, including Sylvester Stallone as the voice of King Shark! We have a full breakdown of the cast right here.

Pandemic be damned, this one arrives on HBO Max AND in theaters simultaneously, so that August release date isn’t going anywhere.

The Batman

Release date: March 4, 2022

The Batman solo movie has Matt Reeves as director. Robert Pattinson is the new Batman. Not only that, this movie will likely kick off a brand new trilogy of Batman movies. Expect a more low-key, detective focused approach to the Dark Knight than we’ve seen in previous movies.

OK, fine, this isn’t a DCEU movie project, and it’s an animated movie. But unless you have no soul, how can you resist Krypto, Streaky, Ace, Comet, and the rest of the amazing super pets?

And what an incredible voice cast this one boasts! Dwayne Johnson is Krypto, Kevin Hart is Ace, the Bat-Hound, with Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Jameela Jamil, and Keanu Reeves also along for the ride in undisclosed roles!

They had better be fighting the Brain Globes of Rambat in this movie, otherwise, we riot.

Black Adam

Release date: July 29, 2022

Originally slated to be the villain of Shazam, Black Adam will instead be played by Dwayne Johnson in a solo movie. The character is certainly strong enough to sustain his own movie. Adam Sztykiel (Due Date, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul) is writing with Jaume Collet-Serra set to direct.

The Flash: Batman Set Photo Teases Michael Keaton’s New Batsuit

Ezra Miller will reprise his Justice League role as Barry Allen. Kiersey Clemons is Iris West. Ron Livingston will play Barry’s father, Dr. Henry Allen (replacing Billy Crudup who played the role in Justice League). But here’s where things get crazy…Ben Affleck will return to the role of Batman for this movie. And Michael Keaton will ALSO return to the role of Batman for this movie!

How is this possible? Because it’s based on the DC Comics Flashpoint story, which for the purposes of the movies will be used to create a big screen multiverse. Wow.

Oh, and it that’s not enough, this movie will introduce Supergirl to the DCEU, played by Sasha Calle!

Aquaman 2: Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom

Release Date: Dec. 16, 2022

After it made a billion dollars at the box office, you bet your trident that Aquaman 2 is happening! And it has a cool, suitably adventurous title: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Right now the plan is for James Wan to remain involved and start developing the movie, but he won’t decide whether or not to direct it until there’s a script in place. Fair enough. Patrick Wilson seems set to return, though, and of course, Jason Momoa will be back.

Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods

Release date: June 2, 2023

Shazam 2 is now officially called Shazam: Fury of the Gods and…that’s about all we know about it right now.

One thing is for sure, though, this movie will retain the look, feel, and charm that made the first one so successful, since both director David F. Sandberg and writer Henry Gayden are returning. And this time we’ll have an entire Shazam family to help out, and they’ve got sharp new costumes!

It appears that the Shazam family will be taking on the Daughters of Atlas in this movie. Hespera (Helen Mirren), Kalypso (Lucy Liu), and another currently unnamed character played by Rachel Zegler.

Wait…did we mention the Sinbad cameo? No, really!

Wonder Woman 3

Release date: TBD (likely 2024)

Patty Jenkins will reunite with Gal Gadot for what may be the capstone on the Wonder Woman movie trilogy. No details about Wonder Woman 3 are currently available, and that release date is likely to come in 2024, since Jenkins has her Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie to release for Christmas 2023.

Blue Beetle

Release Date: TBD

There’s a Blue Beetle movie in the works. And unlike the character potentially appearing in the Booster Gold movie (more on that down below), this one would focus on Jaime Reyes, the magical tech powered teenage hero who wields the scarab of original Blue Beetle, Dan Garrett. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala) is writing the script, with Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) directing.

There’s no release date yet, but this is scheduled to begin production in fall 2021, so maybe we can pencil in a 2023 release date. This one may be destined for HBO Max, according to a recent report.

Batgirl

Release Date: TBD

Joss Whedon was originally supposed to write, direct, and produce the Batgirl movie, one that was reportedly based on Gail Simone’s recent New 52 take on the character. He has exited the project and now Christina Hodson is writing with Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah helming the project. 

‘With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham,” Burr told THR. “Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy, which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Batproject. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.”

Rumor has it that this will be a project set to go direct to HBO Max.

Untitled Superman Project

Release Date: TBD

Ta-Nehisi Coates is working on a Superman feature film with J.J. Abrams producing. No other info is currently available, but it appears to be a reboot.

“To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor,” Coates told Shadow and Act when the news was announced. “I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.”

Will this continue Henry Cavill’s time in the role, or will it take a new approach? Will this be a completely different take on the Man of Steel altogether? Time will tell!

Zatanna

Release Date: TBD

One of the most powerful magicians in the DC Universe is getting her own film, with a powerful writer attached. Emerald Fennell, who wrote and directed the brilliant Promising Young Woman has signed on to write a Zatanna movie for Warner Bros. No other details are available at this time, but you don’t sign an Oscar hopeful for a movie like this unless you’re serious about getting it moving.

Now, let’s get into the projects that are in the works, but haven’t had any movement in a while…

Supergirl

Oren Uziel is working on a script for a Supergirl movie. It’s not clear what kind of ties this will have to the currently dead Man of Steel franchise, especially given the uncertain state of Henry Cavill’s future as Superman.

But one thing is for sure, the DCEU does have their Supergirl! Sasha Calle will be introduced as Kara in The Flash movie, and presumably she’ll lead this one, as well.

Green Lantern Corps

Fairly or unfairly, Green Lantern has the most working against him. The 2011 film failed to kickstart the DC Universe as planned, and received a lukewarm (at best) critical and box-office reception. There are, of course, ways around this.

New Green Lantern Series Expands Cosmic DC Universe

One way is to simply not make Hal Jordan the central Green Lantern of the movie. Thisone may focus on as many as three Green Lanterns, with the main focus on a kind of buddy/cop movie with John Stewart and Hal Jordan. Geoff Johns is writing the script, but there’s no director in place yet. There’s also the upcoming HBO Max Green Lantern TV show to consider. It remains to be seen what (if any) connection that will have to this movie.

Plastic Man

This one is a little further off in the future as all they’ve done is hire a writer. But there is definitely a Plastic Man movie in the works, with Amanda Idoko (ABC’s The Mayor) working on a screenplay. We have some more details on it right here.

Blackhawk

Steven Spielberg has long wanted to make a Blackhawk movie, and he’s finally going to get his wish. And if it was your wish to see Steven Spielberg direct a DC movie, you’re also in luck. David Koepp is writing the screenplay. We have more details on this one here.

Deathstroke

Joe Manganiello has long been cast as Slade Wilson, known to DC fans as Deathstroke. He even made a cameo in one of the Justice League theatrical post-credits scenes back when that was supposed to set up a Justice League 2 that never happened. But it turns out that the original version of that cameo in Zack Snyder’s Justice League was meant to set him up as the villain of The Batman solo movie (that is no longer the case), 

Deathstroke was also once set to get a solo film, written and directed by The Raid‘s Gareth Evans. Despite Manganiello returning for a brief scene as Deathstroke in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, it doesn’t seem likely that his solo film is happening anymore, which is a real shame as he would have been great in the role.

Nightwing

The Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay has been tapped to direct a Nightwing movie. Bill Dubuque (The Accountant) is working on a script. No other details are currently available, and this one doesn’t have a release date yet. It appears to be dead, but McKay recently told us he’s still hoping to make this a reality.

Justice League Dark

At one time this was called Dark Universe, until Universal came along and ruined that name with their failed horror movie shared franchise. This one will feature the supernatural characters from the DC Universe. Characters like Swamp Thing, Demon, Deadman, Zatanna, and even John Constantine.

Guillermo del Toro was attached to this one for quite some time, but had to leave the project. Then it was Doug Liman. Now J.J. Abrams is involved as producer for what will likely be an HBO Max series.

And now for the long shots…projects mentioned, rumored, killed, or otherwise unlikely.

The New Gods

Ava DuVernay was set to direct a movie based on Jack Kirby‘s New Gods., but recently the project appears to have been killed by Warner Bros. No other details are currently available.

The New Gods is the story of two worlds, the warlike Apokolips and the peaceful New Genesis, each populated by immensely powerful beings with fantastic technology. Darkseid is the evil dictator of Apokolips, and he swaps sons with Highfather, the leader of New Genesis, and each child is raised on the opposite world. Darkseid’s son, Orion, becomes a troubled champion of New Genesis, while Highfather’s son (raised by Darkseid) revolts and becomes the super escape artist, Mister Miracle. This barely scratches the surface of what this movie is about. We tried to get into more detail about it here.

The Trench

Aquaman director James Wan and producer Peter Safran were working on developing other corners of Arthur Curry’s world, but Warner Bros. ended up killing the project. The Trench was to focus on the terrifying piranha-like beasts seen briefly in the first film, and would have been a smaller-scale, more horror-focused movie, and one that wouldn’t feature any of the main characters from Aquaman. Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald wrote a script, but this appears to have been sunk.

Justice League 2

Justice League 2 isn’t likely to happen at the moment given how the first film underperformed at the box office. It once had a release date, but that long since evaporated. Still, “The Snyder Cut” generated considerable buzz on HBO Max, and featured a teaser scene that was very much meant as a preview for what the director was looking for in his dark vision of Justice League 2.

Man of Steel 2

Never officially announced, with no director or writer ever attached…another solo Superman movie starring Henry Cavill seems pretty unlikely at the moment. Especially considering that Henry Cavill appears to be finished as Superman, there’s an excellent Superman & Lois TV series on the air, and the aforementioned movie in the works from Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Cyborg

OK, to be perfectly honest, the Cyborg movie almost certainly isn’t happening. Ray Fisher made his first (very brief) appearance as Vic Stone/Cyborg in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and played a crucial role in Justice League. At one point he was supposed to feature in The Flash solo movie, too, but it’s not clear if that’s still the case.

Basically, though…let’s be completely real: this movie isn’t happening. There hasn’t been any movement on it in years, despite once having been assigned an April 3, 2020 release date. As far as we can tell there has been no additional movement on this movie in years. It’s probably dead. Too bad, since Ray Fisher was great in the role.

Harley Quinn

At one point there was another Harley Quinn movie in development! Whether this is a solo project or something else remains to be seen. Keep in mind that while very good, Birds of Prey didn’t set the world on fire at the box office, which means that Warner Bros. might be a little more wary than before about additional solo projects for Harley, even with Margot Robbie’s star power.

Ms. Robbie told us that there’s been no movement from the studio about Birds of Prey 2. However she also told us that she’s hoping to finally get Poison Ivy into the DCEU, so the pair can explore their relationship! We know we haven’t seen the last of the fantabulous Harley Quinn.

As for what shape this movie was supposed to take in the first place, your guess is as good as ours!

Gotham City Sirens

David Ayer is looking to direct a Harley Quinn and friends “girl gang” movie. Geneva Robertson-Dworet is writing, with Margot Robbie producing. It’s not clear where this stands on anybody’s priority list these days. Ayer has moved on to other projects, and as mentioned above, Birds of Prey wasn’t quite the financial success that Warner Bros. had hoped for. It’s possible that Gotham City Sirens has been put in a drawer for the time being.

Booster Gold

Flash and Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti is going to executive produce and possibly direct a Booster Gold movie. Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class) will write the script.

Joker: 6 Actors Who Have Played the Clown Prince of Crime

Early reports described this as a “superhero buddy cop movie” that would involve Blue Beetle. We’ll get you more updates on this as they become available, but keep in mind there hasn’t been any movement on this in a long time, and the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle movie is probably taking priority for the studio.

Deadshot

Warner Bros. knows they have one of the biggest stars in the world already in costume, so they’re reportedly considering a Deadshot solo movie, as well. But with Smith now having left Suicide Squad 2 this project seems like it may not ever materialize. Unless, of course, switching Idris Elba’s role (he was originally intended as Smith’s replacement as Floyd) means they’re keeping the door open for him down the road.

Lobo

The Lobo movie may attempt to be the DCEU movies’ equivalent of Deadpool. Jason Fuchs must have impressed Warner Bros. with his work on Wonder Woman, because he’s on board to write the script for this one. Michael Bay might direct. But with Lobo appearing on Krypton season 2 and a TV series for the character that had once been put into development (but is probably dead), this might be less of a priority for the studio now.

Joker & Harley Quinn Movie

At one point there was yet another Joker-centric flick in the works. This one, a Joker and Harley Quinn movie is absolutely part of the DCEU movie continuity would pick up where Suicide Squad left off. There are currently no additional details available on this one, either. This probably won’t happen, however.

Warner Bros. is very happy with how their R-rated, out of continuity Joker movie performed both critically and commercially, and with Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar win, it’s a safe bet that they’re at least quietly hoping to make him their definitive Clown Prince of Crime for the foreseeable future…even though Joker was never intended to be part of the DCEU.

Not to be confused with…

Jared Leto Joker Movie

Honestly, we’re having trouble keeping track of all these, but yes, there was also yet another Joker solo movie in development focusing on Jared Leto’s version of the character in the works at one point. Apparently, this has long been canceled, but we’re keeping it here to be safe for a little longer.

these are not in any order, but imma try and explain my dumb/not appreciated opinion for each one. i don’t listen to a lot outside of my mains, but i won’t list 10 BTS songs dw <3

Intro: Serendipity | BTS

it’s serene. the softness of jimin’s voice just soothes me. the build and the depth to this song is incredible, and it’s a great intro to their album. idk it’s just nice to hear jimin’s voice in this nature, when he’s not belting out those big high notes. it’s shows a new but nice quality to his voice.

Don’t Wanna Cry | SEVENTEEN

this is a song for the bloody a g e s. even my non kpop friend adores this song. there is no surprise that this song is on the list. i think it just fills my entire being when i watch the choreo or listen to the song. it’s a masterpiece - hands down. if u feel attacked by the mingyu x wonwoo attack, i feel u.

YESTERDAY | Block B

a pure underrated bop by a pure underrated group. some people this ‘cutesy’ fun cb didn’t fit their image, but i disagree. it shows their silly and funny side, bc they are bunch of dorks. and i always flip the fuck out in P.O’s verse lmao.

Teenager | GOT7

i am going to be honest w y’all, nothing that GOT7 had come out w truly gets me like the flight log: departure era. it is one of my favourite kpop albums of all time. so their latest comeback was SUCH a good thing. this song is just fun, flowy and the “i will do anything if u tell me good boy” is one of the most life ruining things that has ever come out of kim yugyeom’s mouth. one of my fave comebacks last year !!!

Easy Love | SF9

i stil retain that SF9 are the best rookie group out there at the moment (if they’re still classed as one? idk anymore). i loved all of the title songs they did in 2017 and i struggled between this one and ROAR tbh. there are no visual, vocal or rapping holes in this group. they’re phenomenal. just listen to the chorus of this song and tell me otherwise? also zuho’s rap at the bridge makes mE FREAK.

Our Tears | Hyolyn

this song is plain beautiful. it does give me hwarang flashbacks, but this song is just b e a u t i f u l. hyolyn has one of the most incredible voices i have ever heard. i have tried covering this many times, but i could never sing like her. i have no more words, this song is just amazing.

i had a hard time picking between this ‘bullshit’ but this one moves me every time i goddamn hear it. this is a new side i am not used to w GD’s solo stuff. it’s gorgeous. i don’t know why but every time the chorus hits, i feel like my heart is being pulled out of my chest. it’s beautiful, but so melancholy. what an incredible artist he is.

MY I | SEVENTEEN

okay the mv and the dance are both incredible, but this song is genuinely outstanding it’s also damn sexy. i actually prefer the Chinese ver, and not bc i am repping the chinaline for the sake of it, it’s actually more pleasing on the ears. SVT does such a good job of showcasing all their members’ abilities, esp w all the unit stuff. but i love the build of this song and the background, it strips it all down and that is what makes it sO sexy.

Beautiful | MONSTA X

oh LOOK. another masterpiece. this is one of my favourite mx albums, alongside the clan pt 2 for me. i literally cannot fault this song if i tried, along with most of their songs. i loved dramarama and shine forever, but this is my fave. it’s that perfect mix of hype and sultry, that damn chorus will kill me kihyun. also the most iconic bit of choreo with the arm thingy after the first chorus. incredible. stan talent. i am beyond words that they got their first win too, what lovely ppl.

ANTI | Zico (feat. G.Soul)

idontunderstand okay so i had a hard time picking between this and artist tbf. but omg the whole atmosphere of this song gets me. the breakdown before g.soul’s final chorus gets me hype. zico is just a genius when it comes to produces and i adore everything that he releases. she’s a baby and artist were basically on this list as well. so zico is my fave solo artist, hands fucking down.

Crazy, Sexy, Cool | ASTRO

tbh, i kind of fell out of love w ASTRO and idk why?? i just hadn’t been as mad obsessed w them. then they released this bop, and i am riding the hype train again. ASTRO has some of the best choreo ever which says a lot in an industry where pretty much everybody is great at dancing. i also feel very much offended by jinjin’s rap??? no thanks. opting out. they have just matured so much. 

전야 前夜 The Eve | EXO

okay, this is one of my top EXO songs for sure. it’s not my fave EXO album, but this song was worth me buying it tbh. it’s sexy as hell. it’s like a lighter artificial love and it fucks me up? also the vocals are smooth anD WHEN THE GODDAMN CHORUS HITS and suddenly 9 men have spread their legs all at once. we’re all screwed. they’ve taken over. also, always a fan of do kyungsoo’s adlbs.

I will go to you like the first snow | AILEE

okay i know she is a legend, but i have never really sat down and listened to her stuff (bad ik). but when i listened to the Goblin soundtrack, this damn song slapped me so hard in the face. her voice is outstanding. i also remember the amount of times Goblin ripped out my dumb heart and stepped all over it. anyway, i think this song is powerful and so is ailee tbh. the ending where she hits those notes, my wig flies. 

봄날 Spring Day | BTS

choosing only 2 BTS songs is a bloody feat. i bought this repackage SO fast wow, and this is definitely one of my fave BTS comebacks. ngl, i prefer it over DNA (although it will take a lot of effort for them to release a terrible song). this song and video are gorgeous. this was just such a fantastic era and time for BTS and this song makes my whole heart flutter like a 14y/o girl. 

Beautiful | Crush

okay yeah soz it’s another song from Goblin’s OST but i am viewing the songs individually, not because the show alone. anyway, i had no idea this was Crush. since i only knew him from ‘bermuda triangle’ (which is such a fucking bop) so i assumed he couldn’t  possiblyhave this sweet, angelic voice. spoiler - i was wrong. this song fills me with such emotion.

DARLING | Taeyang

honestly this man could punch me in the face and i would apologise. this song has mad “eyes,nose,lips” vibes but it’s so good. i loved this entire album, but ‘darling’ caught my heart (how gay is that). his voice is incredible but u can be assured i belt this song at full volume whenever it hits even at 10:30pm when i am writing this. i will always rep the BIGBANG bois, and i am glad this was the last album he decided to make before he went to the military.

What U do? | EXO

i had a hard time choosing between this and boomerang. but, this remains one of the standouts of the album. the chorus and entire song are so goddamn catchy, and similar to taeyang’s entry, i have a hard time not singing this aloud. i normally play this song after i leave the house at 7:30 in the morning to try and motivate me. i  just want to jump around like a doofus, and i love exo songs that do that.

sorry this was SO long. i just have loads to say and too many songs to write about. sorry for my crushing absence, i am back at school again and i am exhausted. it’s nearing my play too so i am learning lines too!! hope you enjoyed this ! <3
