i think ive posted about this line before but im posting about it again cause i love it

"it's hard when part of him is off playing family charades" (games i play)

this line is so. ough. it shows how marvin tries to hold on to his life through his family, but at that point it's all a game (like the theme of games throughout the song [canasta yada yada]), and theyre just faking it till they make it

his attempts to bond with certain parts of his life leave him lacking in other parts (his relationship with whizzer)

and specifically the use of /family/ charades, his familial life is all as he tries to make people see when its just as messy and complicated as it is in his head. family charades are also usually just a kiddish game, showing his actions + attempts are messy and childlike to pull himself together

Whizzer never thought he’d settle down with anyone but Marvin changed that for him. He’s still hesitant, rounding their relationship down to nine months instead of ten and refusing to be a docile housewife.

Dandelions - faithfulness, happiness

He’s happiest with Marvin, even if the relationship is a little toxic in the beginning. When they’ve both grown as people, they’re perfect for each other.

He might not say it very often, but he definitely loves Marvin and is genuinely hurt when Marvin pushes him aside.

I feel like not enough people bring up the Jewish part of falsettos. I've seen some people completely ignore the fact that they're Jewish. I've even seen someone say that them being Jewish has nothing to do with the story so it's ok to hc the characters as being Christian (this happens with whizzer mainly). Which is wrong, them Jewish, is the whole second act. It's also really important to have queer Jewish representation. I feel like a lot of these takes tend to be on Tiktok for some reason. But idk that's just a few things I've seen.

This is what Marvin wants Whizzer to be. He wants him to stay at home all day, make him dinner, be ready and love him unconditionally.

Yellow Lillies - walking on air, false and happy

In contrast, this is the real Whizzer, he loves Marvin but knows Marvin's living an illusion. Eventually, it'll all crumble down and Whizzer will fall to the ground.
