“Hmm, there's a place in Tribeca for 3000”

A girl named paige said, popping a fry into her mouth with one hand whilst pointing to an add in the paper with the other one.

“That's too expensive all the money I saved up won't even cover two months rent, I'm gonna have to work every second I'm not in class till graduation!”

Carly her best friend replied frowning slightly.

"Carly" Paige starts

"Don't even think about not going..."

"You've work so hard for this you can’t just not go." D

Paige says, giving her a concerned look.

Carly sighed, her eyes looking anywhere but the two girls.

“Good, because you know how proud we are of you.”

Paige said popping another fry in her mouth

“It's just an internship….” Carly said modestly, but they could see the excitement shining in her eyes.

“At Instyle Magazine!!” Paige squealed in unison.

“Or you could stay at the Waffle House as a waitress forever….” Paige says sarcastically.

“I'm good thanks!" Carly replied. The girls carried on looking through Instyle magazine until a voice spoke “Hey babe” he said sitting down next to Carly.

“Hi” She replied smiling.

Sorry there were two drunk red necks wrestling in the bathroom and I also think delani hates me now” Wade says turning to Carly

“What, why?” Carly responded confused

“Well-“

“ There's no rednecks in New York.” Said Paige, pointedly staring at Wade.

"No. There's not." Came his tight reply, followed by an awkward silence.

" Well, I'm gonna go see what Blake's doing, he seems to like that car more than me nowadays"

Paige said giggling before sliding out of the booth, leaving the young couple.

With Delani

Carrying her box of fries and soda to the counter to pay for Diner, delani had stopped when she felt someone staring at her, she noticed a guy staring at before sending a wink her way.

"Eww, God when where are those two” she groaned turning away" continuing to pay herfood, and headed turns the men bathroom.

“ Nick, Delton lets go i wanna eat! ” Dalani yelled banging on the door.

Delani walk out the diner building hanging around the front eating her food. As soon she gets a bite Nick and Dalton walk out. “Finally y'all took forever in there” delani said smiling widely at the boys,as they continue to walk closer to her.

Nick smirks and wraps an arm around her waist. capturing her lips with his.

Nick was Delani's “bad boy” boyfriend and Dalton was their best friend well Dalton was more like a brother more than anything. Nick and Dekani have been stuck together since they were kids. Three years ago they made it official.

It was love in first sight for her, she was really in love with him.

“hi baby” delani giggled

“Hello, darling” He whispers.

“Hi to you too Dalton”

“Hi, lani!” 

Nick pushed Delani closer to him, his arm around her waist and walks back toward the dinner table, not before kicking a homeless man's cup.

"What's up, crow man?" Dalton says to him.

"Get a job." Nick mutters, still walking.

“Nick, Dalton You know karma going to get y'all in the ass” Nick smilef

“Yea sure babe”

Before they can even continue they were already at the table, “That's nice. Yeah”

Delani sits with nick sitting next to her arm still around her neck. "So. What do you think, guys? Gonna be a sweet game tomorrow, huh?" Wade says, trying to start a conversation.

"Yeah." Nick says sarcastically, before drinking from his beer. Nick stopped being nice to Wade because Wade's is dating his sister. (honestly I don't remember if it's true but let's go by that) Of course he isn't going to like him.

Carly looks up and sighs. "Dalton, please don't film me." "What?" He looks around the camera he has pointed at her directly. "I'm not filming now."

"The red lights on, Dal." Delani says, taking a bite out of her food.

Nick reaches his right arm in front of Delani and pushes the camera down, "Put the camera down. She doesn't like having people up in her face." Nick glances at Carly. "She folds under pressure”.

Carly looked up slightly before putting her magazine down.

"You got something to say to me?" She asks, staring at her brother

"No. I think you've already spoken enough for the both of us." Nick smirks and stands up. "You guys are lame. I'm out of here”

Nick starts walking away hand in Delani’s dragging her away from the table not before Delani mouths a sorry at the grope.

Fate’s Draw

Fate’s draw is a card-and-dice ( well , throwing sticks ) game that is a staple in many Dalani taverns and townships. Unlike chess in our world , fate’s wasn’t developed to be a military strategy game. Rather , it was made to be a fast-paced , competitive , many player game to cross lines between people. It served as a way to attain common understanding between both different Courts and classes.

The idea is quite simple. Each player starts with 7 cards and you aim to have as many cards as possible by the end of the game. However , there are moves that can be made by stick throw , effects that can be triggered by playing certain cards , and strategies that develop with the different “ states “ a card can be in. [ Full rules are omitted on purpose ]

The game’s premise was has remained unchanged from it’s first form , created by the warlord , Ranoni’s disciples. The overarching theme of the different courts ( sun , moon , stars , clouds ) has stayed the same throughout the centuries. However , cards were not written with their exact rules on them , and so exact effects are different region-to-region and establishment-to-establishment. The game is so widely known that most people know the rules of each card without there needing to be written instructions , instead relying on illustrations and art , which is one of the ways the game served to bridge class differences.

Today ( in this fictional universe ) , Dalan enjoys many different versions and iterations of the game in different places , cities , even families. There is no universal version agreed on , which allows the game to evolve and change over time. It’s what makes it so cherished - each game played is a new experience.
