#BALTIMORE — The last time #DonaldJTrump blamed a black man for the condition of this undoubtedly troubled city, the year was 2015, the death of #FreddieGray in police custody had spawned a racial uprising, and the black man in question was #President #BarackObama. “Our great African American president hasn’t exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore!” Mr. Trump wrote then on Twitter. Now Mr. Trump is president himself, and he has written off this entire city as a “disgusting, #rat and #rodent infested” place where “no human being would want to live,” and is blaming its longtime and revered congressman, Representative Elijah E. Cummings, for the city’s problems. But people here say that even if their city has its struggles, Mr. Trump has lost his right to point them out. “This is the struggle that he doesn’t know anything about,” the Rev. Timmie Lee, from the #CornerstoneChristianCommunityChurch, said as he stopped by a street stand he operates in West Baltimore, where his son Isaiah, 12, was helping sell #sneakers and #soap. “If he was raised up in this community, if he had any dealings with this community, then he can speak to this community. Elijah Cummings is here. He walks through this community. He lives in this community.” Residents were more pointed still. “Trump is a buffoon. He looks at this as an #AfricanAmerican community, and that’s all he sees. That’s where his narrow mind is,” said John Cheatham. It is not news to anyone here that Baltimore, which is 63 percent black, is struggling with long-term systemic problems and unstable political leadership. Shout out to these #Lovely Ladies! They made my day on that day! For those who don't know about Throwback Thursday and Flashback Friday, here's the gist of it: Social media users, bloggers, and even brands will post some type of content (like a #photo, a #video or a #song) from the past and then they'll tag it with #ThrowbackThursday or #TBT if they're posting it on a Thursday. If it's Friday, they'll tag it with #FlashbackFriday or #FBF. Sounds simple enough? It is, but why do we need both of them if they seem so similar? Exploring the Difference Between the Two #Hashtag #Games It's not exactly clear where Throwback Thursday originated from, but according to Digital Trends, #Instagram user @bobbysanders22 was the first known user to post the hashtag back in 2011. And if you take a look at the Google Trends chart for Throwback Thursday, you'll notice that the trend really took off in early 2012. Throwback Thursday is arguably more #popular and used more often than Flashback Friday, perhaps because Thursday is first to arrive during the week and it's also the one day when major social media activity takes place. Interestingly enough, if you take a look at the #Google Trends chart for Flashback Friday, you should see that its growth actually started to take off several months before Throwback Thursday did. The definition of the word "throwback" is a person or thing that is similar to someone or something from the past or that is suited to an earlier time, according to the Merriam-Webster #dictionary. So since #Mom and #Dad were both in the #hospital. I was able to see family that I haven't seen in YEARS!!! Commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, Juneteenth is observed on #June19. The celebration originated in #Texas when Major General Gordon Granger arrived in $Galveston. He announced on June 19, 1865, with General Orders, Number 3 that the Civil War was over and all slaves were now freedmen. News traveled slowly, even stubbornly during and after the #War between the States. The #Emancipation Proclamation had been signed over two years earlier. General Lee had surrendered at Appomattox two months before, and #President #Lincoln had already been laid to rest. The official final surrender had taken place just weeks before but the word, official word, seemed to be required to impact what was already happening in the rest of the country. The celebration of Juneteenth grew from the profound experience that day when many learned of their freedom to the surmounting challenges that lay ahead and the lasting perseverance required for dignity, to overcome adversity and achieve fulfillment. Year after year, pilgrimages have been made to Galveston and celebrations have spread around the country and the world. In 2015, #Juneteenth celebrated its 150th anniversary.
